The Most Haunted Tours In San Antonio
I really enjoyed this tour. It was funny, inactive, and engaging. The tour guide was great. She was funny and informative. The driver was great!
I have been on several ghost tours in other cities but this was by far the best. Kelsey and Mr. Pete kept us laughing and still taught us a lot about the history of this great city. Would do it again as long as they are our guides!
My son and I enjoyed the this ghost walk very much Our guide was very knowledgeable and very personable He shared many creepy locations / stories with our group I would highly recommend Sisters Grimm
We have been on many ghost tours in multiple cities, this one was one of the best. We heard a lot of great stories and history as we traveled around San Antonio. Kelsey was a great tour guide and a really good opera singer. Our bus driver was a hit with his dry wit and snappy come-backs. Would do it again if we visit again.

Visit the Most Haunted Places in San Antonio
From its time as a Spanish Mission town to the rapid growth of recent years, San Antonio has retained its quirky frontier nature. The dead still rest underfoot in many areas of the city-pioneering men, women, and children whose presence can still be felt, especially late at night when the city is fast asleep.
San Antonio has another kind of nightlife, one that not everyone is brave enough to investigate. Let us guide you on this moonlight tour and reveal San Antonio’s haunted past.
Constructed as a Roman Catholic Mission in 1718, the Alamo was supposed to be a place of peace, worship, and community. But all that changed in 1836. In a bloody fight for independence, 100 Texans fought back against thousands of Mexican soldiers from inside the mission. After days of fighting, the Mexicans scaled the walls and massacred the rebels. The soldiers on both sides still replay those violent moments in the shadows of the Alamo.
The Emily Morgan Hotel
This hotel was originally a Medica Arts Building. It housed doctors of all specialties – dentists, psychologists, trauma experts, you name it. The medical history means it was also crawling with every kind of patient, many of whom died on the premises. Some guests say those patients still wander the halls. There have been reports of an antiseptic smell wafting down the 14th floor and sights of patients in gowns knocking on doors looking for the doctor.
Majestic Theatre
Like almost all theaters, the Majestic has its fair share of ghost stories. In 1929, the theater opened and shocked the world with a fancy new invention: air conditioning. And yet, a chill hangs in the air no matter what the HVAC temperature setting. Performers of the past dance on the stage to relive their fleeting moments of glory. Those who spend the night may get an encore performance from the other side.
Test your bravery, and join us!
What to expect on your san antonio ghost tour.
San Antonio is known for its diverse cultural scene, good food, and vibrant nightlife. The famous Riverwalk wasn’t always the tourist attraction it is now, though; it, too, has a past. The history of this great city goes all the way back to the 1836 Battle of The Alamo and the fight for Texas’ independence from Mexico before it chose to join the United States. The bright future as a part of the United States cleared a path to build the great city of San Antonio, the majestic buildings of the historic downtown lining the ribbons of dark water that run through this place. However, these same rivers once ran red with blood, and corpses floated downstream.
As a hotbed of spooky activity, the city cannot be matched for its countless stories of strange and spooky happenings. Here in River City, you will encounter an eclectic mix of the historic and the modern, the old and the youthful, the beautiful and the ugly.
Let us take you deep into the history of the Alamo they never taught you in school. During this enlightening and shocking journey through the ghosts and history of the Alamo City, you will come to understand the shocking truth about San Antonio’s past and what lies beneath virtually every block of this stunning city.
Discover the Horrors That Haunt San Antonio
Learn about the grizzly deaths of the brave soldiers of the Alamo and why their ghosts remain.
Visit a hotel that was a former hospital and became known for the numerous deaths that occurred after.
Discover the former slum neighborhood that is now home to the spirits of Comanche Indians.

Why You Should Book Your San Antonio Ghost Tour Tonight!
You need a crash course in the history of San Antonio
All the locations we visit, on the standard tour, and the extended tour, offer an insight into the history and character of River City, from the earliest days as a Spanish mission, through the upheaval of the Spanish Independence War , to the Civil War and today’s modern growth every period has its ghosts and they are a wonderful way to bring the past alive, and much more memorable than a bus tour or a museum.
Let the fascinating local guides bring the personality of San Antonio to life for you tonight.
You want an activity the whole family can enjoy
Ghost tours can be overwhelmingly scary. We try to balance the grim truth and educational insight into how things were at various stages of San Antonio’s Development. For example, the extended tour visits the charming and atmospheric stop at La Villita, Spanish for Little Village, your ghost tour will pass by the front yard where a Doctor boiled the heads of dead Comanche warriors, to study their skulls, he claimed, but will you believe his reason after hearing the whole story?
Even though the story is quite ghastly, we deliver tours that are for the whole family, are completely accessible, the guides of River City Ghosts are all consummate professionals who will entertain with true stories from the past.
You are a Non-Believer, testing the waters of the supernatural
Some of the ghost stories require a big leap; others are just obviously true. We never try and change your mind, but all the stories are well researched, and the settings are straight out of the history books.
We rely on first-hand accounts that were plausible and don’t include the more farfetched tales. If you are the suggestible kind, you might prefer to believe that ghosts are a figment of the beholders’ imagination. And if you are at all religious, then the concept of purgatory, resurrection, and visitation by spirits is not a very big leap at all. Whatever your point of view, we offer a lot more than the prospect of looking for a white apparition to present itself. You’ll hear tales of human struggle, adversity, and misery, that at the worst, will make you grateful for your lot.
Have you heard of the multiple suicides that have happened at the Tower Life Building? Starting with one of the brothers who built the tower, after things got really bad in the Depression of 1929, Jim Smith, the CEO of the very successful company, could see no way out and dramatically flung himself from the roof of the tower.
He seemed to have started something; there have been several confirmed attempts since then, the most recent one in 2016. It’s for you to decide if it’s just a copycat way to take your own life, or if the building is cursed and feeds on negative thoughts. Join the tour to hear the full story, it has several more facts that might provide overwhelming evidence of supernatural activity.
In San Antonio and Don't Know What to Do.
There is lots to do in San Antonio; you could walk around in the hot midday sun or visit one of the many museums and deep dive into the Alamo’s fascinating history. If you want to get a broad insight into the city, you could take a bus tour and see everything from behind glass. They all have their advantages, but only River City Ghosts gets you up close and personal to the sites, in the cool evening light, and brings history to life with the memorable tales of real people who lived and died in San Antonio.
River City Ghosts provider a different perspective on the vibrant and beautiful city of San Antonio; we take you to the safe and tranquil setting of the River Walk. Still, we tell you all about its less than respectable past. As late as the 1950s, the San Antonio Old City River Walk was a seedy area with high crime and a large homeless population. The scene of many murders, the River Walk, was only recently cleaned up into today’s charming attraction.
You’re on a tight schedule
Visiting San Antonio for just the weekend? Only one or two days to see everything? Are your mornings and afternoons filled with other things? Then an evening tour with River City Ghosts might be just the thing to help you cross off a wide variety of downtown locations and get an entertaining tour of the city. As well as the entertaining and downright spooky ghosts’ stories, we also weave in a lot of local history and bring the dramatic story of San Antonio to life with animated and knowledgeable local guides.
Get an insider look at the San Antonio culture
We’ve all heard of the Alamo; we were taught about the basic outline of events at school. Taking the River City Ghost Tour will not only bring you to the actual site of the battle, but we’ll tell you stories no school child has ever heard.
For example, the Alamo today would not exist if it were not for the intervention of people from beyond the grave. When the Mexican army surrendered to General Sam Houston and his troops at the battle of San Jacinto, the word was quickly sent to burn the Mexican occupied Alamo and retreat south. The soldiers at the Alamo that received the order went back to burn the buildings but quickly returned, with no smoke in the sky. They reported they had been stopped by six spectral figures wielding swords of pure flame. Astonished, their commanding officer also went to burn down the Alamo, but returned too, with a pale face and a look of astonishment in his eyes. ‘El Diablo!” he concurred, and the army retreated, leaving the Alamo intact.
Be a tourist in your own backyard
Are you a resident of San Antonio? We would lay money that you have not heard all the ghost stories we tell on the River City Ghosts tour of your fair city. Maybe you heard only some of the stories or got a slightly different version.
Being a tourist in your own town is a great way to break out of the normal routine of life, support some local businesses, and try something new. All tours start and end at the corner of Crockett Street and North St Mary’s Street, we will doubtlessly visit some locations you may have driven past, but do you know their history? Are you familiar with the stories of the haunting of the Empire theatre ? Can you tell people why they might have their arm grabbed by a shabbily dressed man asking for twenty-five cents?
Imagine the rich and spooky tales you will be able to relate to the next out-of-town visitors you welcome to beautiful San Antonio if you have the memorable and entertaining stories from River City Ghosts under your belt.

Had a great bus tour with our guide Lee. He had a lot of information on all our stops and was able to handle a full group. Lee was able to answer all the questions and had additional input on each of the areas. Our driver Martha gave us a smooth ride and got us everywhere in one piece. We did the seven p.m. tour on a Saturday which seemed like a perfect time. We were able to get to all the spots and spend enough time to see what we wanted without feeling rushed. We are local and had a fun time learning a little more about our city. This was something my 10 year old has wanted to do for a while and he had a blast. Definitely recommend this tour.
This tour was such a great time, super spooky, and had lots of history. We stopped at the Menger Hotel, San Antonio Cemetery, The Gunter Hotel, & Casa Navarro and learned so much at each stop. Our tour guide, Sean, was super knowledgeable and fun. Lili was in the gift shop and was so kind and answered all the questions we had prior to the tour. If you're wanting to learn about some of the haunted places in San Antonio, Sister Grimm ghost tour is the place!
Loved this ghost tour. Lady Lex led us and she dressed and acted the part. She is totally into the whole "spooky" genre. I really enjoyed her voice, her entirely genre appropriate dress and her knowledge of the old school San Antonio history. She did an excellent job. I have been to San Antonio three prior times and this tour showed me a part that I had never experienced. There is so much history and drama associated with this city. The old hotels are phenomenal. I really want to stay in one the next time I go. The trip to the cemetery was eerie. There was lightning and thunder in the distance. It was nice being chauffeured around the area.

I've been on a lot of ghost tours, and this one was fantastic. Lex had wonderful stories, and was so theatrical with telling them that even if the stories had been boring, I still would have had fun. We took the bus tour since we were walking around the Riverwalk all day, and it was a great decision. The bus was comfortable and we got to go places we probably wouldn't have on a walking tour. The cemetery was by far my favorite part of the tour, and I wish we'd gone to more of them or another one, but I did enjoy the one we went to. Cindy was a great bus driver, and she and Lex were a fun comedy team. Overall, it was a lot of fun, and I'd do this tour again.
Sean was amazing and super entertaining and knowledgeable about the history of San Antonio and some crazy stories. I would highly recommend this tour. We did the bus tour and loved it!
We travel annually to a new city and nearly always do a ghost tour in that town. I really enjoyed the Sister's Grimm Ghost Tour. For me, I'm not really that into the ghost aspect, but there always seems to be a little history mixed in - about the buildings, spaces and places and/or about the dearly departed who may be appearing in spectral form. The Sister's Grimm tour included EMF readers which is always a nice touch for those who are more into the ghostly or those who want to get ghost bumps, I mean, goose bumps. ;) Some of our friends who went on this tour ended up visiting some of the sites by day that we visited on the tour at night - ghost tours are great to do early in your visit to a new city for that reason. 10/10 recommend.
This is the best of the San Antonio ghost tours you can take. The rich history is shared in a very interesting way. Both children and adults on my tour were kept engaged. Our guide, Stewart the Strange, had terrific photos to share with us as we went to each haunted location. Each photo had terrific images of the paranormal activity. He explained each photo, helping us understand who our what we were seeing. We learned a lot of information about specific ghosts and haunted locations. He was very dynamic and animated when he shared the stories. I now, officially, will not be going to the Holiday Inn or Gunter. Stewart the Strange wore a headset that broadcast his voice for all twenty of us to hear. He also kept us moving at a comfortable pace. When you come take this tour, which you should, see if you can get Stewart the Strange. You won't be disappointed.
Steady the Strange posing with me!
Loved our tour! We took the bus tour and our guide had great stories to tell and the bus was very comfortable. Would definitely go again.
Lady Lex was great - she created a very fun and interesting vibe the entire trip. We had a fantastic time!
One of the best ghost tours I've been on. Lex was our guide and did an excellent job of telling the stories. Would definitely do again next time in town, We toured a cemetery and historic hotels and various other sites.

When should we arrive?
Check-In is 15 minutes prior to the start time of every tour, if you show up at 8 for an 8 o’clock tour, you are 15 minutes late. Tours will begin right on time as to prevent punctual guests from waiting. If you’d like a tarot card reading or mediumship session before the Ghost Walk or Haunted Pub Crawl at The Bad Wolf Reading Room , be sure to arrive early and book your reading online ahead of time.
Are reservations mandatory?
Reservations for our Ghost Walk, Haunted Pub Crawl and Black Swan Inn Ghost Tour are mandatory as space is limited. You may walk in without an appointment for tarot card readings and mediumship sessions at The Bad Wolf Reading Room , however, in order to avoid waiting in line, we recommend that you reserve your spot online .
How long will the tour last?
The San Antonio Ghost Walk lasts about 90 minutes, The Haunted Pub Crawl lasts about 2 hours, and the Ghost Tours at the Black Swan Inn usually last about an hour.
How far do we walk?
The San Antonio Ghost Walk is just under a mile and a half, while every other tour is well under a mile.
What should we wear?
Wear comfortable walking shoes, tennis shoes are recommended. The Black Swan Tour walks through fields of grass, so closed toe shoes are highly beneficial.
Should we bring anything?
We recommend bringing a water bottle for The Ghost Tours at the Black Swan Inn. For The Haunted Pub Crawl cash is recommended as cards can slow down the crawl. We offer refreshments, snacks and umbrellas at the Bad Wolf Ghost Tour Shop that you may bring with you on The Ghost Walk and The Haunted Pub Crawl!
Is the tour safe for children?
Of course! (with exception of the 21+ Pub Crawl) Children are always welcome, under 5 are free. Keep in mind that some of the histories are graphic (We talk about a murder, suicide, or dismemberment at every location) but all in all, kids will have a blast.
Is it really haunted?
All of our information is investigator verified. If our research hasn’t found any historical or paranormal evidence to back up a sighting, it’s not on the tour. In short yes, it’s really haunted. We can’t guarantee you’ll catch anything on the tour, but people have in the past.
What is a Pub Crawl?
A pub crawl is essentially a bar hopping tour, in which participants have a drink at each bar before heading to the next one; Ours adds stories of each bar’s history and hauntings along the way.
Can I bring my dog?
Well behaved dogs are encouraged to join the San Antonio Ghost Walk but are unfortunately prohibited on the pub crawl and at the Black Swan Inn (excluding service animals).
Do you offer any student or military discounts?
Students, military, and educators receive $1 off all of our tours and $5 off tarot card readings and mediumship sessions at The Bad Wolf Reading Room ! Thank you for your service and good luck in your studies.
Do you offer group rates?
Groups of 10 or more are eligible to receive $5 off adult tickets on most tours. Please call for details.
Are you a San Antonio based company?
Bad Wolf Ghost Tours is owned, operated, and was born in San Antonio, Texas. Bad Wolf’s owner is a local entrepreneur and paranormal investigator chasing the American Dream… albeit a slightly scarier version.
The Bad Wolf Reading Room is presented and operated by ANKH , a new metaphysics and intuitive counseling company, founded in San Antonio on Halloween, 2020!
What if it’s raining?
In the case of rain, please call to confirm that the tour is still running. A rain-check decision is made at 5 PM.

Awesome Fun at Bad Wolf Ghost Tours!
We had an awesome time. We did the ghost tour and the haunted pub crawl. Wolf knows his stuff and is an exceptional story teller. If you enjoy creepy interesting history about San Antonio and its many haunted buildings and great happy hour prices, Bad Wolf’s tours are a must. This was the coolest thing we did over our weekend stay in San Antonio.
Highly recommended!
Our guide, Laura, and her assistant, Alan, were wonderfully entertaining. The EMF detectors and traveling soundtrack added to the fun. The stories were detailed and historical. The tour was the perfect length. I wish we’d been in town on a Friday or Saturday night for the pub crawl option, but the addition of a happy hour discount at 1909 made it a well-rounded night. Highly recommended!
Great tour for a great price!
Awesome and extremely informative tour! Loved the person EMF meters and enjoyed the walking. The tour guide had some great jokes to lighten the dark mood of the stories. I’m a big scaredy cat and got chills during some of the stories and loved the history! Great tour for a great price! I recommend it to everyone!

Unlike a typical tour of San Antonio, a ghost tour delves into the eerie, spine-tingling tales that give the city its mysterious allure, inviting participants to step into a world where history and hauntings intertwine.
Ghost Tour vs. Traditional Historic Tour: What Sets Them Apart?
What sets a ghost tour apart from a traditional historic tour is the focus on storytelling and experience rather than mere facts. San Antonio ghost tours, led by knowledgeable tour guides, navigate through the haunted locations and forgotten alleys, breathing life into the ghost stories that form an integral part of the city's past. Participants not only learn about the history of San Antonio but experience it through the thrilling lens of the supernatural and the unexplained.

The Emily Morgan Hotel: Hauntings Behind Historic Walls
The Emily Morgan Hotel, another renowned haunted location in downtown San Antonio, stands as a testament to the city's layered history. Choosing the Right San Antonio Ghost Tour for You
Walking tour or ghost bus tour: comparing experiences.
When deciding between a walking tour or a ghost bus tour in San Antonio, consider your interests and energy level. Walking tours offer an intimate, on-the-ground experience of the city's haunted sites, often delving into alleys and buildings not accessible by vehicle. On the other hand, a ghost bus tour provides a broader overview of the city's hauntings with the added comfort of transportation, ideal for those who prefer a less physically demanding adventure.

- amyshaw02 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Had an okay time on the ghost walk This was my sixth ghost tour that I have done (both in Canada and the U.S). I will say that it was good but not as great as I had hoped. There is so much history and death that has happened in San Antonio that I had high hopes. The guide was very nice but she was overly theatrical and dramatic in voice and gestures that all seriousness was lost and it became distracting to the actual stories being told. The group walked quite a ways across the city in silence with no real history lesson or dialogue about buildings or otherwise until we reached each stop. Read more Written May 5, 2024
- mitchandmichelle2017 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles JUST OK We had an open mind taking this tour as it was our first ghost tour. Our young tour guide, aka "Elizabeth Decay" was friendly but we were disappointed with this walking tour as it was somewhat comical and not creepy/scary. With San Antonio having so much history, we felt the tour should have been more informative. We also weren't impressed that we paid for a 90 minute tour that ended up being 65 minutes long. We will never book another ghost tour. Read more Written April 29, 2024

- Dylan500 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles San Antonio with two teenagers This was entertaining for the evening but it wasn’t our favorite thing. The stories were interesting but not very ghostly, creepy or scary. We felt at times the tour guide was just trying to advertise for other businesses. Why do we stop to learn about a bar that has a 70 foot long bar and fried pickles but no ghost story to go along with it. Also, why do we need to stop for snacks at the halfway mark? - S5196IRmichellew 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Macabre with a generous dose of area history. Not suitable for young children Our guide 'Greta the Geist' was hilarious. Full of energy as she related the seamier and creepier side of San Antonio history. From The Alamo to several area hotels and locations we were treated to some grisly and sometimes rib tickling stories of locals and visitors alike. This tour started at 8pm and was a solid two hours for our group. The details of the stories are pretty graphic and given the late hour and the route which takes the tour through some areas of the city I would not venture alone, I recommend the little ones stay home for this outing. - baldnerf 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing tour First, let me say the store “Sisters Grimm” is adorable and has so many cute and gothic items. It was my sister’s favorite store during over visit, so much so, that she went 6 times to look and make purchases. This is also where we saw the advertisement for the tour. Our family loves ghost tours and was right up our alley. The tour itself was a lot of fun and our tour guide was so interactive that it made the tour that much better. Through this tour we got more history about the location versus us doing it on our own. We even went back during the day to three of the haunted locations we visited. I recommend this tour to anyone who likes walking, history, and some ghost tales. It pour down rain on us for all of 15 minutes, we were able to take shelter in one of the hotels that was on the haunted tours. The thunder and lightning made it that much scarier.
