Our Customers Rave About Us

The boat ride was so much fun and so much more intimate than a big boat. It can def. get a bit choppy at times but the seats are well cushioned which makes for a great adventure. Captain and staff are very nice and experienced. We saw some seals and 2 humpbacks which def. gave us a great show smacking their fins into the water. We would highly recommend this adventure. Regardless of what wildlife you will sight the boat ride on its own is worth the trip. Thx again.

It included stopping at an area to watch seals, a lighthouse and the history, seeing the Bush estate and their boat, and tons of thrills riding the waves! It was not rough as we thought and you don't get soaked; just a little bit of sea spray which was nice on a hot day. Captain Gary was knowledgeable and fun by throwing in humor now and then. We were glad for the little pockets in front of our seats to put our phones and jackets. We'll be back for another tour next summer and we really want to experience their Hampden Beach location.

We had a great time on our hour long scenic thrill ride! My husband and I took my dad as a belated Father’s Day gift (he loves a good rush) and we were not disappointed. The seats were neat. They were three vertical rows that you had to straddle. There was a handle bar in front of you. We felt safe and comfortable. It was a tremendous thrill. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer! Because of this, I’m excited to book another trip with them in the coming years, whether it’s the whale watch or the lighthouse tour. My family and I stay in Ogunquit nearly every year and this was a great new activity to try in the area! Highly recommend!! Thank you for a great time!

Casco bay family cruise & harbor tour.

Staying in Portland and wanting to tour all the legendary Casco Bay harbor has to offer with a delightful family cruise ? Join Captain Jason Eaton for a fun day trip touring the bay, seeing the lighthouses, and enjoying the beautiful wildlife! In just two hours, you and your family can see all the famous landmarks, seals , porpoises, whales and other awesome sights of Casco Bay!

All told, you will see the beautiful six lighthouses of the bay, plus the eight standing forts, many of which were integral to US success and defense in World War II.  You’ll even learn a bit of history, such as Portland’s role in supporting the UK’s resistance in the second world war.  We will make some detours to visit sea lion sunning spots and see other wildlife.  These trips take about two hours and can be combined with short fishing trips to keep the fun going.

This is a great way to spend a couple of hours with your kids out on the water.  If your kids haven’t been out on the water before, this is a great way to introduce them to it and get them their sea legs before trying a fishing trip.  If this is your plan, we can work a little mackerel fishing into the trip, just let us know when you book with us.

Five-Star Reviews on TripAdvisor!

We chartered the boat to kick out my sisters bachelorette weekend in town. It was so much fun. Than, our captain, was great is helping us take photos and letting us play whatever music on the boat. We saw seals right off the peir! It was an amazing start to the weekend everyone loved it.

I went on Maine BayCycle for the first time a few years ago when it first opened, and had the best experience, but last night sealed the deal for us. We were a total of 14 people, including our group of 7, and had the best time out on the ocean with our Captain. The experience is something you could never get from any other boat tour or water activity in Portlan

We had a large group of us, 12, and it was the best time of our whole trip! It was wild and the captain didn’t mind at all! We loved being able to bring our own drinks. We even asked if we could pay for another half hour so we could do it longer but unfortunately the time slots with the next group was too close. Best time ever!

We were very impressed and had a memorable evening peddling out in Casco Bay! Even though there were only 6 of us, we were able to comfortably peddle our way around. Bring your own drinks and music and enjoy the ride! Even better if you can catch good weather and a sunset. We will be back!

Your guide will also educate you on the life and growth of oysters, their history, and curative powers! Are they an aphrodisiac? That’s your secret but we will know if you join us again and again!

The details:

We will gather for your 2 hour adventure onboard the Brianna Marie, a Young Brothers 38′ Flybridge model built in Maine for stability and spaciousness at sea. There is plenty of comfortable seating, and a head (bathroom and washroom) .

You’ll enjoy a choice of champagne (or beers, waters, soft drinks) to be enjoyed complimentarily along with delicious oysters.

On your scenic cruise of Casco Bay Harbor, you will be enjoying views of lighthouses, military forts on the nearby islands, marine life and more! On board, guests will be treated to fresh oysters as quickly as we can shuck them with an expert shucker on board,

Our Clients Love Kayaking in Portland, Maine with Us!

We had such an outstanding experience! We went for my SIL birthday and to be honest I was super nervous. Our guide was amazing and made us feel so comfortable. We were given dry suites to wear over our clothes and he walked us through everything we needed to know before launching into the bay. He was calm and had such great energy. We paddled all the way to Cushing Island, stopped on a beach to eat our packed lunches and then paddled back. I felt safe the whole time and we had a blast. It was a beautiful day and I will be going again for sure!

My sister, father and I did a 2-night, 3-day kayaking adventure with Portland Paddle. It was an all around incredible experience!! From my initial conversations with the owner, Zach, to booking (and asking a million questions) with Eric to the most skilled, down to earth and thoughtful guide - Garrison - we were treated with kindness, patience, and professionalism by the whole team and had a trip of a lifetime!! Can’t thank you all enough (especially Garrison!!) for making my Dad’s 75th bday one to remember :) We highly recommended Portland Paddle!

I took a half day tour around Casco Bay, led by Janet Robinson. The trip was wonderful. Janet is very knowledgeable and a skilled kayaker. She took us out just beyond one of the peninsulas so we could see the expanse of the ocean and hit 3 foot rollers. They were awesome, and a new experience for me. We stopped at Fort Gorgeous for lunch and then paddles back to our launch site. I have been on several trips and kayak workshops with Portland Paddle. In my opinion they are one of the best commercial kayak outfits in the Portland, Maine area.

We had an amazing time on the Fort tour. Perfect for myself who hasn’t kayaked in years and my 13 year old son. Kyle was our tour guide and he was awesome!! Kyle made the adventure even more fun. He was helpful and knowledgeable. The tour of the fort was really cool. My son loved exploring the fort. Perfect for a teen. Portland Paddle has so many different tours to choose from. It was very easy to book. I would recommend Portland Paddle to anyone looking for a great time!!

I did the Fort Gorges Kayak Tour and was not disappointed! They were able to accommodate me as a solo kayaker without any issue. Our guide, Alonso, was a really great guide. He was super friendly and positive and approachable and gave us lots of interesting tid bits of information about the local wildlife, and or course about Fort Gorges. The gear was good, the service was even better. They were able to also help change my trip last minute. Would highly recommend!

Alonzo was an excellent tour guide. He prepared us prior to departure by running through the equipment and safety procedures, then guided us to Fort Gorges... Alonzo was super safety conscious, which was comforting, and since I’m older he took special care to help me so I didn’t fall when walking around the fort.

Highly recommend. We went on the Fort Gorges tour yesterday morning and had a great experience. Our guide, Henry, gave us a kayaking tutorial (how to hold the paddle, how to steer etc.) prior to us pushing off from East End Beach. He was helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the Fort and gave us plenty of time to explore before we headed back in. I'm looking forward to taking some of the other tours and classes offered here in the near future.

We did the sunset kayak tour in a double kayak. The instructor was fantastic. I can't believe I'm forgetting her name but she paddled the whole coast in 2020 with her friend. It was very well organized, safe, and fun. She explained what different locations were around us out there in the water and some history. Also just talked to each of us in general. It was very nice. Highly recommend it.

15. Discover More Maine Lighthouses

Portland’s Head Light may be the oldest and most famous Maine lighthouse, but there are plenty of others to discover. Consider embarking on a lighthouse scavenger hunt as you road trip through Maine.

The Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse – sometimes called “Two Lights” – stands at the southwest end of Casco Bay. Both towers of this historic Maine lighthouse helped guide ships from 1828 to 1924, but the western tower is now privately owned. This 68-foot-high lighthouse was automated in the 1960s; its huge lens was placed in the Town Hall, before ending up in Maine Maritime Museum.

The Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse sits on top of a small rocky island in York. It is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country and is visited by thousands of people each year.
