UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell will add another chapter to a story that began in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley in 1979 when UB40, taking their name from the form given to individuals claiming unemployment benefit, started putting an indigenous British slant on Jamaican reggae.

After reaching number four in the charts with King / Food For Thought , the multi-racial band released their debut album Signing Off in 1980. During their career they have sold in excess of 70 million records and topped the UK singles chart on three occasions – with Red Red Wine in 1983; I Got You Babe (a duet between Ali and Pretenders singer and long-standing UB40 champion Chrissie Hynde) in 1985; and (I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You in 1993.

Lead singer Ali Campbell joined Birmingham singer and toaster Pato Banton to top the UK charts again with Baby Come Back in 1994. Paying homage to the songs that inspired them, UB40 also released three volumes of the Labour Of Love series, covering Jamaican standards such as Eric Donaldson’s Cherry Oh Baby and Lord Creator’s Kingston Town.

Ali is joined by his incredible 9-piece band and will be honouring long time member Astro who sadly passed in 2021. Whilst a handful of songs from the forthcoming album will feature alongside favourites from the Labour Of Love series, Ali is keen to include older numbers such as King (about the legacy of American Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King) and One In Ten (about unemployment in the UK) that are, unfortunately, as timely today as when they were first sung in 1980 and 1981.

UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell will add another chapter to a story that began in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley in 1979 when UB40 , taking their name from the form given to individuals claiming unemployment benefit, started putting an indigenous British slant on Jamaican reggae.

After reaching number four in the charts with “King / Food For Thought”, the multi-racial band released their debut album Signing Off in 1980. During their career they have sold in excess of 70 million records and topped the UK singles chart on three occasions – with “Red Red Wine” in 1983; “I Got You Babe” (a duet between Ali and Pretenders singer and long-standing UB40 champion Chrissie Hynde) in 1985; and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You” in 1993.

Two of those hits, “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You”, also went to number one in the USA. Lead singer Ali Campbell joined Birmingham singer and toaster Pato Banton to top the UK charts again with “Baby Come Back” in 1994. Paying homage to the songs that inspired them, UB40 also released three volumes of the Labour Of Love series, covering Jamaican standards such as Eric Donaldson’s “Cherry Oh Baby” and Lord Creator’s “Kingston Town”.

Ali Campbell comments on UB40 ‘s planned setlist

“We put ‘King’ back into the set because it’s so bloody appropriate. We wrote it 40 years ago, but it’s still representative of what’s happening in America. It’s depressing that nothing has changed. It’s the same with ‘One In Ten’ in the UK. With the impact the coronavirus had on jobs, we could soon be looking at unemployment figures on a par with the early Eighties.” Those songs will feature in a show we’ve been honing for the past 12 years.”

“We’ll always play the classics, like ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’, but we like to change the beginning and end of the show. We’ll play ‘Lean On Me’ and maybe add three or four new songs. The band members are all fantastic musicians and we’ve climbed back up to the biggest venues in the past 12 years.”

HELLO, I am here to share my testimony on how I finally joined the Illuminati brotherhood with the help of Mr. Olta I am now RICH, FAMOUS, AND POWERFUL, I tried my best to become a member of the brotherhood, but I was scammed several times before I found a testimony about Mr. Olta on the internet so I contacted him, I was so afraid that he would ask me for a lot of money before I could join the light, but to my greatest surprise he only asked me to buy the items I made and today I am very happy to tell the world that I am rich and have been able to build many businesses with all this I obtained an instant sum of 7 million dollars in my account and I am also known all over the world with the business. that the Illuminati brotherhood gave me and I also have the power to do what I want ... I know many people may be in my lane also looking for help here you are officially free to contact Mr. Olta Va Email: ([email protected]) OR WhatsApp or call +2349018100439 BEWARE OF SCAM,

UB40 is ALWAYS a treat for the senses live. Their sound is larger than life. How could it be anything less? With Veteran member Robin Campbell on rhythm and lead guitar who also sings with the deeper, melodic voice. Duncan Campbell giving the lead vocals all he's got, throw in some subtle smiles and a whole lot of sophisticated charm as well. Earl Falconer on bass, making a center stage appearance for a few songs of his own, including, Bulldozer, a fantastic new one from the current album "For The Many". Martin Meredith on saxophone playing straight to your soul, Lawrence Perry dazzling on trumpet, and humbly standing in for The one and only Brian Travers was Ian who really carried the music quite well and is an absolute gentleman. Norman Hassan gives you voice, percussion, character and some very fancy dance moves! Tony Mullings on keyboards lays down a very complicated array of sounds that infiltrate the music and make it what it is, he adds so much to the richness of their brand of Reggae. Jimmy Brown sets the tempo on the drums and gives this fine group of genuine, talented, musicians a wild ride to lay down all of their musical contributions to and float you away on rythm, melody, beat, love songs, politics, thought provoking, smile producing MUSIC! This is a band that if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see live, and you miss it, you missed more than you will ever realize. They are so good to their true and loyal fans, both on stage and off. There's obvious reason why this is 40th anniversary tour, 40 years of material, all authentic (even the covers!) all genuine, all solid, and inspirational. UB40 is the finest entertainment I've ever had the privilege to experience. Go. See. Them.

Further hits from across the band’s career such as ‘Kingston Town’, a cover of ‘I Got You Babe’ with Chrissie Hynde, and ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ helped the band and Ali Campbell become the authentic voice of UK Reggae, with a total of 70 million records sold, as they took their smooth yet rootsy musical blend to all corners of the globe.
