KAMELOT Announces March/April 2023 European Tour

KAMELOT will embark on a European headline tour in March 2023. The glorious band, founded and led by mastermind and guitarist Thomas Youngblood , has announced new dates in 14 cities in 11 countries, with more shows to be confirmed soon.

KAMELOT is ready to enchant fans with its internationally top-charting melodic metal pinnacles, accompanied by uplifting and unique very special guests MYRATH , plus additional support from rising Swedish talent ELEINE and modern metal revelation LEAGUE OF DISTORTION . The highly anticipated tour promises evenings to remember, chock full of musical diversity and hard-hitting melodies.

Youngblood states: " KAMELOT legions Europe! We are pleased to announce cities for our first round of the 'Awaken The World' tour 2023! Special guests will be the mighty MYRATH and openers ELEINE , along with LEAGUE OF DISTORTION . We're thrilled to share this information just in time for Christmas!"

As previously reported, KAMELOT 's long-awaited new studio album will finally be released in early 2023. Among the working songtitles set to appear on the follow-up to 2018's "The Shadow Theory" are "Bloodmoon" , "Eventide" , "Awakening" , "Midsummer's Eve" , "The Great Divide" , "Opus Of The Night" and "Pantheon" . The artwork for the new LP will be helmed by Giannis Nakos .

In a 2020 interview with The Metal Mixtape , Youngblood spoke about the songwriting approach for the band's next album. Expressing the need to create something engagingly familiar yet altogether unique, the guitarist said: "Obviously, there's a balance between making an album that fans expect but then doing things slightly different so you're not repeating yourself. And we're pretty good at that, I think. The team that I have with me are really good at going, 'Hey, we've kind of done this. Let's do something different.'

"When it comes to music, especially metal, people expect a certain thing," he continued. "So we always try to have this sort of DNA with each record, but also kind of make them different. This new album is gonna have that same kind of approach — we have a lot of different, new kind of elements or influences, but then there's gonna be stuff that people really expect and that they're, like, 'Okay, this is KAMELOT .' So it's a little bit of a balance. You don't wanna be redundant. That's definitely not our goal. We wanna have every record be different."

In October 2020, Youngblood told the "Rockum" radio show that he and his bandmates had "pretty much narrowed it down to 12 songs" that would be recorded for KAMELOT 's new album. "We're gonna be working with Sascha Paeth again on production," he said. "And we're very excited."

In August 2020, Youngblood told A&P Reacts that KAMELOT had 25 songs to pick from for the new LP. He said: "Having Tommy [ Karevik , vocals] now as one of the songwriters has been killer; he's coming out with really cool stuff. And then, of course, Oliver [ Palotai , keyboards] and myself, and having Alex [ Landenburg ] now as our drummer; he's got a lot of cool ideas. What a cool guy Alex is. So, yeah, it's gonna be exciting."

KAMELOT 's latest DVD and Blu-ray, "I Am The Empire - Live From The 013" , was released in August 2020 via Napalm Records . The 21-song set was recorded at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands and includes more than 100 minutes of live music and multiple exclusive extras, including backstage interviews of all guests, bandmembers and fans. Featured guest musicians include Alissa White-Gluz ( ARCH ENEMY ), Elize Ryd ( AMARANTHE ), Charlotte Wessels ( DELAIN ) and Lauren Hart ( ONCE HUMAN ).

"The Shadow Theory" was released in April 2018 via Napalm Records . The follow-up to 2015's "Haven" was helmed by Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen . Guests on the album include Hart , Jennifer Haben ( BEYOND THE BLACK ) and Paeth . The cover artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann .

Last year, Karevik spoke to #MetalTalk about what it was like to replace KAMELOT 's longtime frontman Roy Khan a decade ago. The Swedish singer has appeared on the band's last three studio albums, 2012's "Silverthorn" , 2015's "Haven" and the aforementioned "The Shadow Theory" .

"I never thought about it as, 'I'm gonna replace someone,' to be honest," Tommy said. "I thought about it as I wanna honor the legacy that was already there but bring something new into the fold as well. I thought of it as a huge challenge, of course. But my view on it was never, 'I'm gonna go in and replace this guy,' because I know he was loved, and he is still loved, in the metal community, and he will always be loved because of his talent and what he brought to the table with [ Roy 's pre- KAMELOT band] CONCEPTION and KAMELOT . I never thought that that was my job to go in and replace him. I just wanted to take on what he had going for the band and just bring me — my personality and my energy.

"In many ways, it's a different band," he continued. "It's a little bit of a different energy now. But still, people have all these albums that they can listen to from the beginning, and they have new albums, and they will continue to have new albums with great songs. That's kind of my take on it."

Karevik also talked about the KAMELOT fans' response to his addition to the band. "I have to say, it's never an easy thing, especially coming in after someone that was so renowned," he said. "Thinking back, in hindsight, it couldn't have gone any better, to be honest. I'm so happy that the fans were so accepting and really welcomed me with open arms. So I have only positive things to say about that. I thought it was gonna be more stressful, with the metal community often maybe living in the past a little bit, here and there.

"If I think about my favorite albums, for example, of my favorite bands, I also live in the past," he admitted. "Let's just be real — I glorify some of the stuff in the past. And I think, 'Ah, it's never gonna be the same again.'

"If my favorite band had to replace its singer, I don't know what I would do. So I come from the same thought. So that's why I'm so happy that everyone, or most of the people, were so welcoming."

I am going to Shenzhen on business and will have about 1/2 day off. Can anyone recommend a tour? I will be going to Lowu one night and having a massage the other evening, but wanted something to do for the 1/2 day. Any suggestions?

This is not a tourist city, not much to see. Last time I went to Dafen Village (is is actually not a village, just a district). All the painters are there, you can buy some interesting things. Also nice to walk around.

I have him golfing one morning (that will keep him happy) and will plan a massage one evening but he will really have 2 days to entertain himself. I was thinking of taking 1/2 day off and maybe doing some sort of a tour with him but as you say, I haven't had a lot of good response to that.

We just got back from a two week trip to China of which two days were spent in Shenzhen visiting our daughter who lives there. I would avoid Splendid China and Windows of the World unless you really want very touristy oriented experience not done very well. We did Splendid China and wished that we had done something else. On our first day we visited Queen Spa and were very impressed - even our 14 year old son who spent an hour playing video games loved it. They will pick you up from the metro station.

The other options (from the Sightseeing brochure I picked up at the airport informtion booth) were:

Oct East (sounds like an upscale tourist place), Lotus Hill, Mangrove Nature Reserve, "State-level reserve of wetlands and birds as well as the habitat and stopover for migratory birds on the eastern hemisphere. The pedestrian walk in the south is a place for tourists to watch the sea and birds", Wutong Mountain, Qiniang Mountain Baguang Scenic spot, Maluan Mountain, and Yangtai Mountain.

I'm looking at the brochure these are listed on and it looks like all are available by the public transportation. The website is http://www.shenzhentour.com and there is an English version that is very slow loanding.

For me, just walking around and taking pictures of the area where our daughter lives was interesting enough because it was so very different then what we're used to.

toobusytoday: I have read a lot about Queen Spa and most likely will visit it while in Shenzhen at the beginning of June. I found their website but it is in Chinese...I was wondering whether there is an outdoor area for sunbathing? Thanks ;)

There is no outdoor area at Queens Spa but they do have a large indoor swimming pool. Queens Spa is quite an amazing place - absolutely huge with hundres of people having all sorts of different treatments on every floor. They do have private rooms - so if you don't wish to be amongst the masses whilst being pampered this is the way to go. I personally really enjoyed my evening there and would definately like to go again - it is an amazing experience - enjoy!!

Move of the faytech Factory & Office in Shenzhen, China

We kick-off 2023 with a major change for the better! Our factory and office space in Shenzhen, China has recently been moved and split up into 2 different locations, with the production facility and office building separated. This allows for a better office environment to meet partners and clients, while still being able to produce, develop and optically bond our faytech solutions with the highest quality.

The new office is located in the Winlead Intelligent Park, which is situated in Bantian, Shenzhen at the interchange of Banxuegang Avenue and Fada Road. The surrounding transportation network is already fully developed, with the Bantian Metro Station located only 200m away and the Shenzhen North Railway Station 5km away. We decided on this spot as it is highly convenient for city exchange and both domestic and international business contacts.

faytech is located on the entirety of the 2nd floor of building 8. The sales, financial, R&D, HR, administration, customer support and purchasing teams are in this new office, with additional space for meeting rooms, a showoom and testing rooms.

Huizhou Factory (Huizhou faytech Tech Co., Ltd)

The new factory moved to a different area, in Huiyang District, Huizhou City, which is North-East of Shenzhen, roughly 50km away from the faytech office. The site is located in an industrial park where we can implement our cleanroom and manufacturing process requirements under ideal conditions. The new halls house the optical bonding, sampling, quality control, warehouse and production teams. The premises are distributed among clean rooms, production lines, work areas, storage and meeting rooms. Since the industrial park is close to an expressway, it is also the perfect location for shipping and receiving goods.

In the factory, we have set up a new automatic large-format line for optical bonding, which enables high-efficiency and high-quality bonding. The floor is made of stainless steel, which ensures electrostatic discharge, which is important for clean rooms.

This is first-class station covers 150,000 square metres, and has 4 platforms, 12 railway tracks. Huizhou South Railway Station is one high-speed rail station that serves 40 high-speed trains and bullet trains per day.

Step 5: Ticket check. Please show your passport and confirmation No. to station staff to check in. The boarding gate will be closed 5 minutes before the train departs

Huiyang District 惠阳区

Huiyang District - the third level of administrative division in China - lies in the Pearl River Delta in southern China. It borders the city of Shenzhen. The character 'Hui' can mean either 'kindness' or 'benefit', and the character 'yang', the opposite of 'yin', means sun. The total area of the district is similar to the area of the city of Delhi in India!

Population: There are over half a million people living in Huiyang - that's as many people as there are in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Scenery: Hakka architecture meets the panoramic splendor of nature in Huiyang. Stone houses quietly nestle in the mountainous countryside, while the cityscape hums with the sleepless energy of a modern-day city.

History: Originally inhabited by a mixture of tribal groups known to the Chinese as the Baiyue ("Hundred Yue"), Huiyang and the rest of Guangdong province was always a frontier region. Gradually, it saw a steady trickle of Han migrants until the Tang dynasty, when there ceased to be a separation between the "Yue" and "Han".

During the Qing dynasty, your ancestors were most probably affected by the Coastal Clearance ordered by the imperial government to provide a buffer zone against attacks from Ming adherents led by the pirate Koxinga, who had ousted the Dutch from the island of Taiwan and established a base there.

After the ban was lifted in 1684, many of the original inhabitants did not return, and immigrant Hakkas from other areas with limited arable land filled the vacuum... Other Hakkas were encouraged by Guangdong authorities to spread out and settle in mountainous areas in the Pearl River Delta.

Claim to Fame: Huiyang is the home of many revolutionaries and statesmen of the late Qing dynasty, such as Deng Zhongyuan, Deng Chengxiu, and communist military leader Ye Ting.

Where did the Overseas Chinese go: By the early 1800s there was already quite a large Chinese settlement in Malaysia, which increased rapidly year by year. Today, there are over 90,000 people, who trace their roots back to Huiyang living in Malaysia.

Similarly, Chinese fishermen and merchants have been present in Singapore since the early 19th century, where over 4,000 can trace their roots back to Huiyang.

After the Dutch occupied Indonesia, Chinese workers became a vital source of cheap labor. In 1860, over a thousand people from Huiyang sailed to Indonesia as labourers. Mass migration to Thailand, Vietnam and beyond followed. It is the descendants of these migrants who later migrated to Europe and the Americas.
