In addition to men’s and women’s professional club matches, the tour also intends to organize elite youth academy competitions in the years to come.

Soccer Champions Tour is working closely with global premium experiences company Legends to bring these marquee matchups and elevated in-game experiences to local fans of the game.

Added Shervin Mirhashemi, CEO, Legends: “Legends is proud to bring fans of the beautiful game this unforgettable experience this summer and deliver a fan experience that will match the world-class soccer on the pitch. We can’t wait to see stadiums filled across the United States with fans cheering on some of the best clubs in the world as they compete in the Soccer Champions Tour.”

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

America's Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell sing and play guitar together onstage.

In 2023, you can finally hear “Sister Golden Hair,” “A Horse With No Name” and “Ventura Highway” and “Lonely People” live.

From Feb. 3 through Aug. 26, classic rock icons America will play 32 huge concerts all over, well, North America.

And if you’re in New Jersey, you’re in luck this year.

Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley’s America have five gigs lined up in the Garden State over the next few months.

First, the duo will perform back-to-back nights at Collingswood’s Scottish Rite Auditorium on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18 . From there, they’ll swing into New Brunswick’s State Theatre on March 3, Englewood’s Bergen Performing Arts Center on March 4 and finally Atlantic City’s Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort on June 10.

They’ll also be at Rochester, NY’s Kodak Center on March 11.

Not too shabby for a band that’s been together for 53 years and won the Grammy for Best New Artist way back in 1973.

However, if you follow America’s Instagram , it appears that the 70-year-old rockers haven’t lost a step at their live shows either.

They’re still rocking as hard as ever.

Plus, as a cherry on top of that, we’re happy to report that tickets are fairly inexpensive too.

At the time of publication, we wound some seats that were going for as low as $37 before fees on Vivid Seats.

All prices are subject to fluctuation.

Want to find the right show for you?

Keep reading — we’ve got everything you need to know about America’s upcoming tour below.

America 2023 tour dates

Bunnell, Beckley and the rest of America have big shows all winter, spring and summer .

Just a few of the biggest shows on their itinerary include dates in Canton (March 16), Honolulu (April 15), Kansas City (June 2), Milwaukee (July 12) and Detroit (July 14).

The fun comes to an end on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater .

A complete calendar including all America tour dates, venues, show start times and links to buy tickets can be found here .

America set list

Even the most casual America fan knows the band will play their aforementioned greatest hits.

What else is on the band’s 21-song set list though?

Setlist.fm reports that America often opens with “Tin Man” and plays original cuts like “Don’t Cross The River,” “Daisy Jane” and “Greenhouse” among many other classics.

It also appears that they mix in a few classic rock staples from The Beatles, The Mamas & the Papas and Russ Ballard as well.

For those that want to dig deeper, we recommend checking out the band’s exhaustive setlist.fm page which has records of what tracks America played live at shows dating back to their early days in London.

America band member background

Fun fact: 1/2 of America isn’t American born — singer and guitarist Dewey Bunnell was actually born in Yorkshire, England to an American serviceman father and his English wife.

As for Gerry Beckley, he was also born to an American father and English mother. The only difference is he originally hails from Forth Worth, TX.

Bunnell and Beckley ended up forming the band with fellow founding member Dan Peek — who passed away in 2011 — in the late 1960s when the three attended London Central High School in Bushey Hall in north west London.

Classic rockers on tour in 2023

Many 70s rock stars are now in their 70s and show no signs of slowing down.

In fact, dozens of the biggest names from the pre-disco era are still going strong and will perform at arenas and stadiums all year long.

Here are just five of our favorite acts you won’t want to miss when they come to a city near you.

•  Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

•  Billy Joel with Stevie Nicks

•  Ringo Starr

•  Dead and Company

•  The Eagles

Want to see who else is on the road this year? We’ve got you covered.

The tour, which has been organised by the multimedia, sports, and entertainment group Relevent, will feature a set of friendly matches between some of the division’s clubs, with participants still to be confirmed.

La Liga revealed that four “legendary” clubs would be involved, but Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will not participate.

A statement from La Liga said: “The summer tour is part of La Liga and its clubs’ strategy to grow the Spanish Professional League’s footprint in the United States and Mexico.

“The tour will make its first stop in 2023 in the United States and Mexico. It will continue the strategy to develop and grow the league, its clubs and competitions in North American markets.

“The United States and Mexico represent an important opportunity for La Liga and its clubs in brand and business development, especially in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2026.”

Starting this August, the aim of the tour is to grow the La Liga competition and reach out to fans in a different region.

Relevent, who are allied with UEFA in opposing the European Super League, first started working with La Liga in America in 2018.

The company were the organisers when Real Madrid met FC Barcelona met in an International Champions Cup game in Miami in July 2017, but the Super League fallout meant they were not involved in last summer’s Las Vegas friendly meeting of the two Clasico sides.

Manchester United confirmed this week that they would travel to the US for their pre-season tour later this year.

Is Liverpool going to tour USA in summer 2023? What we know so far including CEO verdict

Liverpool's pre-season tour in Asia last summer was the first foreign tour in three years. Could the club return to the US in summer 2023? Here's what we know.

With only four months left of the current season left to play, all eyes will naturally be focused, at least from a Liverpool perspective, on ending this campaign and looking forward to the next.

This has been a tough season for the club, and many will want to forget about it and push ahead to brighter things, barring a successful run in the Champions League. Yet in between this season and next is pre-season, which usually means a tour to some corner of the globe.

Previously, Liverpool has usually been on the road during July, with Asia and North America both acting as destinations for the Reds in the past.

Last summer, the club toured South-East Asia for the first time in five years. In fact, it was Liverpool’s first tour abroad of any kind for three years due to the pandemic.

Liverpool played games in Thailand and Singapore before returning to Europe. Club CEO and FSG bigwig Billy Hogan commented that the time might be right for the Reds to return to North America in summer 2023.

“We are already starting to look are where we could go next year,” he said at the time (via the ECHO ).

“Asia has always had a massive Liverpool supporter base, and it’s a big place so there are lots of places to go.

“We’ve looked at a number of different markets. North America is another one and the US is a partner that continues to grow.”

Liverpool hasn’t toured the US since 2019, when the club played its games along FSG's base on the east coast, hitting Notre Dame, Boston, and New York City. While there is no confirmation as of writing where the club will go this coming summer, the US looks to be a strong candidate.

Liverpool also toured the US in 2016 and 2018.

Liga MX's América beat Barcelona in Dallas friendly

Newly crowned Liga MX champions Club América beat LaLiga title-holders Barcelona 3-2 in a friendly at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Thursday night.

Barcelona, who flew to Dallas on Wednesday night right after a 3-2 win over Almeria in Spain, used an alternate roster in their midweek XI that featured six teenagers, three of whom were making their debuts.

- Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (U.S.)

The LaLiga giants found the back of the net early in the game through 16-year-old Lamine Yamal , who picked up the ball in the midfield, raced upfield and beat America goalkeeper Angel Malagon to give Barca a 1-0 lead.

Club América quickly responded with a 12th minute equalizer from Colombia-born Mexico international Julian Quiñones. After receiving a pass from United States midfielder Alejandro Zendejas , Quiñones backheeled the ball into the net to level the score.

Despite both sides beginning to slow their pace after taking part in recent matches, Barcelona eventually made it 2-1 with a 28th minute goal from 17-year-old Marc Guiu . Connecting well with full-back and fellow academy product Hector Fort , Guiu found the back of the net after sliding to meet a low cross.

Barca took a 2-1 advantage into half-time, but the lead for Xavi Hernandez's side was short-lived.

After Quiñones won a duel with defender Pau Cubarsí in Barcelona's third of the field, the winger just had 19-year-old goalkeeper Ander Astralaga to beat to make it 2-2 shortly after the break.

In a closing half that included a long list of substitutions from both teams,  América retook the lead for good with an 82nd minute goal from striker Henry Martín , who came on in the 62nd minute.

Despite a back-and-forth close to the game, and Barcelona's XI being boosted by appearances off the bench from key figures like João Cancelo and Robert Lewandowski , América hung on for the win at the final whistle.

Last Sunday, Club América extended their Liga MX record tally of championships to 14 after defeating Tigres 4-1 on aggregate in a two-legged final. Las Aguilas will return to play in January with the start of the upcoming 2024 Clausura season.

Barcelona, whose manager Xavi told media on Wednesday that the team was playing the game to help the club with finances, resume LaLiga play in January. Sources told ESPN that Barca was paid €5 million to take part in the friendly.

Ahead of this year’s pre-season tour of the USA, we take a look at our previous visits to the cities and states Chelsea will be playing in over the summer.

For the second year in a row, Chelsea will be spending our summer on the other side of the Atlantic, as we tour the USA for our pre-season training schedule and a series of matches against British and European opposition.

Get more information and tickets for all our USA Tour 2023 fixtures

In total we will play in five different American locations in 2023, all on the country’s East Coast and four of which have hosted Chelsea games before. The exception is Atlanta, where we face Newcastle United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in our first-ever trip to the state of Georgia.

The other four states are all familiar destinations for Chelsea – in some cases we have even played at the same stadium on more than one occasion – and you can find out all about them as we run through our history in each location below.

US Tour 2023 schedule

19 July  – Chelsea vs Wrexham – Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill - general admission tickets sold out! Club Chelsea packages still available to purchase here

22 July – Chelsea vs Brighton – Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

26 July – Chelsea vs Newcastle – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

30 July – Chelsea vs Fulham – FedEx Field, Landover

2 August – Chelsea vs Borussia Dortmund – Soldier Field, Chicago

North Carolina

It was only last year that we were in North Carolina most recently, although this will be our first time in Chapel Hill, with both our previous visits to the state being to the city of Charlotte. Our 2022 trip was a very local tie, as we took on hometown team Charlotte FC.

There was plenty of entertainment on offer for those in attendance at the Bank of America Stadium too, although not a happy ending for the Chelsea supporters. On Raheem Sterling 's first game for the club, it was our own American Christian Pulisic who opened the scoring, but Charlotte equalised from the penalty spot with just seconds left on the clock and then came out on top in the resulting shoot-out.

Our previous match at the Bank of America Stadium also ended in a 1-1 draw and penalty shoot-out, against a Paris Saint-Germain side featuring current Blues Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkunku in 2015. That time PSG took the lead before Victor Moses levelled, and we ended up winning on penalties when Thiago put his effort wide and then our goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois slotted in the winning kick.

Pennsylvania

We have previously played at the next venue we will visit this year, although it was some time ago when we took on AC Milan, managed by future Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field back in 2004. Eidur Gudjohnson and Didier Drogba gave us a 2-1 lead at half-time, but we couldn't hold on as another man who would go on to represent Chelsea, Andriy Shevchenko, netted a late winner.

That was the second time we faced Italian opposition in Pennsylvania that summer, as we had already beaten Roma 3-0 in Pittsburgh four days earlier. Joe Cole plus summer signings Mateja Kezman and Didier Drogba all scored, the Ivorian netting in his first Chelsea game, to give us a comfortable victory, despite both teams being reduced to 10 men when Kezman and Olivier Dacourt saw red for a second-half brawl.

More recently, we visited Chester as European champions in 2012 to face an MLS All-Stars side which featured David Beckham and Thierry Henry. Although John Terry and Frank Lampard both found the net, we went down to a late goal again, the Americans scoring to make it 3-2 in injury time.

This will be Chelsea's third time playing at FedEx Field in Landover, which also hosted Blues matches a decade apart in 2005 and 2015. The first of those saw an American team taking on the reigning English champions for the first time ever, and it was local side DC United who actually went ahead from a corner. However, their lead lasted less than five minutes before Damien Duff's brilliant volley squared things and then Arjen Robben and Hernan Crespo combined on the counter for the Argentina striker to make the final score 2-1 to the Blues.

A decade later, it was the English champions against the Spanish champions as we faced Barcelona in a game of intensity and supreme quality. It started with a fine solo effort from Eden Hazard, as he took on and beat half the Barca team on his own, but Luis Suarez and Sandro's replies for the Spaniards were almost as good. Thankfully a brave header from Gary Cahill, taking a punch full to the face from the keeper in the process, levelled things up before we scored all our spot-kicks to win the shoot-out.

Last but by no means least, 2023 will see Chelsea competing in Chicago for the first time when we visit Soldier Field for a game against German side Borussia Dortmund. However, we did play in Bridgeview, around 12 miles south-west of Soldier Field, when we took on the MLS All-Stars in 2006.

It ended in defeat, although the Blues left the game feeling hard done by after Didier Drogba had a goal ruled out for offside and Salomon Kalou was denied by a goal-line clearance, before Dwayne De Rosario smashed in the only goal of the game from long range to win it for the All-Stars.

Manchester United will travel to the United States for their pre-season tour this summer, returning Stateside for the first time in five years.

United have toured America eight times in the last 20 years and it is a popular pre-season destination for the players, but the club haven't been there since 2018, when Jose Mourinho led a fractious tour that set the tone for a disappointing season that saw him sacked in November.

Since then there have been a couple of summers without a tour due to Covid restrictions, while United have twice been to Australia and the Far East, including under Erik ten Hag last season.

But United will now head back to the USA for a tour that football director John Murtough believes will offer excellent facilities before the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

“This will be our first visit to the US for five years and everyone at the club is looking forward to it, especially the players, who love the high-quality facilities, the welcoming atmosphere and passionate support of our large US fanbase," said Murtough

"As well as engaging with our fans, Tour 23 will give Erik and his squad the opportunity to reconnect with each other after the summer break and prepare for the restart of the Premier League.

"We’ve worked with the manager and his staff to create training camps with the best sporting facilities available, as well as a mix of competitive opponents to play, ensuring that the whole squad will have the best opportunity to gain fitness and playing time during their time in the US.

"Tour 2023 will not only see the return of our senior players to training and playing, but there will also be valuable opportunities for up-and-coming talent from our academy to experience life within the first team environment – and for our US fans to see some potential stars of the future.

"We know that Manchester United and the Premier League in general are growing in popularity across the US, so we are looking forward to building on this connection this summer."

United are set to confirm venues, dates and opponents for games in the next few weeks.

REAL MADRID

Real Madrid 2024 USA pre-season tour: Where is Real Madrid playing this summer in the US?

Los blancos confirmed a pre-season tour of the united states, but where are their games and when will they be played.

Joe Brennan

El Clásico is, once again, coming to the US . Real Madrid confirmed their plans to host a pre-season tour in the United States and will travel across the country showcasing the squad of the 14-time Champions League winners in what has become something of a tradition for the club. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have travelled to the US before, but this year will see them embark on their most exciting tour yet .

Madrid are currently fighting for the LaLiga title and the Champions League, but as soon as their season finishes, plans will be put into action to get the squad rested and recovered for the new season .

AC Milan, 31 July, Soldier Field Stadium, Chicago

Madrid’s first match in the Soccer Champions Tour 2024 will be against legendary Italian side, AC Milan . Stefano Pioli’s side have been a force to be reckoned with in recent seasons, having seen players such as Christian Pulisic take a huge leap forward and propel them to second in Serie A.

Madrid played against AC Milan in a pre-season friendly in 2021 , where the two sides were held to a goalless draw in Austria. The game was David Alaba’s debut in the Madridista shirt. More recently, the two sides played in 2023, with the Spaniards coming away with a slim 3-2 win, thanks to a late Vinicius Jr goal.

Barcelona, 3 August, MetLife Stadium, New York

The second game to be played will be the big one. Barcelona and Real Madrid will play each other in a US El Clásico at the end of July in New York’s MetLife Stadium . The last time the world’s biggest fixture was brought stateside, it was a whitewash from the Catalans, who saw Dembelé, Fermín and Ferran scored to make it 3-0 in a game that saw Ancelotti’s side have a whopping 29 shots.

Chelsea, 6 August, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte

Real Madrid have plenty of recent history with Chelsea . They played back in the Champions League in the 21/22 season, with Los Blancos securing a memorable passage through to the semi-finals in extremis . Since then, the fortunes of both clubs have gone in opposite directions, with Real Madrid vying for the title while the London club struggling for form domestically and finding themselves in mid-table in the Premier League standings , behind the likes of Fulham and West Ham United.

A total of five teams will take part in the tournament . As well as the teams that Real Madrid will face in their part of the tour, Manchester City will also be involved , taking on both Barcelona and AC Milan.

Given the busy summer , Ancelotti’s team will have an extraordinarily short training camp , which will not take place in the usual UCLA training camp. The Euros take place between June 14 and July 14; the Olympic Games are from July 26 to August 11; the possible European Super Cup is set to be held on August 14, meaning the three matches instead of four will be played in a seven-day period .

Chelsea, Real Madrid to face off in Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium this summer

Another monumental international fixture is coming to Charlotte.

Bank of America Stadium will host an international friendly soccer match between Real Madrid CF and Chelsea FC this summer, Tepper Sports and Entertainment announced Tuesday morning. The match between two of the most storied soccer clubs in the world is set for Aug. 6.

Presale tickets for certain groups will be available starting March 25, with general ticket sales beginning March 27.

The match is part of the Soccer Champions Tour’s 2024 U.S. Summer Series , which will have five clubs play six matches in major markets across the country this summer. The other teams participating in the tour: FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester City.

“Bank of America Stadium will host the biggest summer of soccer our city has ever seen,” Tepper Sports & Entertainment chief venues officer Caroline Wright said in a release. “We continue to prove our ability to attract world-class soccer events and draw huge crowds at the venue. The addition of the Soccer Champions Tour to our schedule is further proof that Charlotte is a desirable location for some of the most prestigious events.”

This will mark the second time in three years Chelsea will grace Charlotte. The English Premier League power played an exhibition match in Bank of America Stadium two years ago against Charlotte FC — a match that saw the plucky first-year MLS squad defeat Chelsea in penalty kicks and turn a joyful summer night into a magical one .

This marks the first time Real Madrid, Europe’s winningest team with 14 Champions League titles, will play in Charlotte.

This adds to what is an already busy summer for the city of Charlotte’s soccer scene. The semifinal match and the third-place playoff of Copa America 2024 will be played at Bank of America Stadium in July — a match that could feature some of the top national squads in the world against one another, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the USMNT.

Like other international fixtures in the city’s largest venue, the Chelsea-Real Madrid competition will be played on natural grass , which will be imported and temporarily replace Bank of America Stadium’s turf.
