“Happy 15th Birthday, Sweetheart! I love you,” Katie wrote, sharing some rare family photos of her daughter on Instagram. “I can’t believe you are already 15!” Suri, meanwhile, celebrated her 15th birthday on Sunday, April 18 by joining some friends in Manhattan. The teen was photographed around the city as she posed for selfies and stopped for some ice cream while hanging out with her pals. Her mom Katie, 42, wasn’t photographed alongside Suri and her friends, but she wasn’t far away; the Dawson’s Creek alum gave her daughter some space as she went shopping for birthday presents nearby. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has made her on-screen debut.

Holmes, 43, directed and stars in the newly released movie Alone Together , and her daughter Suri Cruise, 16, joined her on the big screen.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment . “So, I asked her [Suri].

“She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it, and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, ‘This is what I think we all want – go do your thing.’”

In the movie, Suri sings a cover of Blue Moon , which plays during the opening credits of the film. Holmes told the outlet this will not be her daughter’s only on-screen singing gig, Fox News reports.

“She actually did sing in Rare Objects , which is the film we did last [autumn],” Holmes said. “Other than that, she’s a 16-year-old kid doing high school.”

Cruise and Holmes were married from 2006 to 2012. Suri is their only child together, and her uber-famous parents opted to keep her out of the public eye for the majority of her childhood.

Holmes directed, wrote and stars in Alone Together – a romantic comedy set during the Covid pandemic. Also appearing opposite her in the film is English actor Jim Sturgess.

The film follows a man and woman fleeing New York City during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.

They end up booking the same Airbnb and ultimately decide to stay at the upstate property together.

Sturgess praised Holmes’ directing style and shared that she gives actors wide latitude when they are in front of the camera.

Tom also has two adopted children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman — a son named Connor , 26, and daughter named Isabella , 28. Although Tom shared in 2006 that he looked forward to Connor, Isabella, and Suri growing close, his divorce from Katie led to those relationships seemingly fraying.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them—that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep. I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. We kind of grew up together.” Of course, like any mother, Katie does worry about her only daughter as she becomes a young adult in the public eye. “There is so much bad news and hate and things that don’t make sense. The atmosphere around the world is…terrifying,” she expressed. “Doesn’t every parent [worry about that]?”

Holmes, 43, stars in the newly released movie "Alone Together," and her daughter Suri Cruise , 16, joined her on the big screen.

"I always want the highest level of talent," Holmes said in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. "So, I asked her. She's very, very talented. She said she would do it, and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general. It's like, 'This is what I think we all want — go do your thing.'"

In the movie, Suri sings a cover of "Blue Moon," which plays during the opening credits of the film. Holmes told the outlet this will not be her daughter’s only on-screen singing gig.

"She actually did sing in ‘Rare Objects,’ which is the film we did last fall," Holmes explained. "Other than that, she's a 16-year-old kid doing high school."

Cruise and Holmes were married from 2006 to 2012. Suri is their only child together, and Suri's parents opted to keep her out of the public eye for a majority of her childhood.

Holmes directed, wrote and stars in "Alone Together." She stars alongside Jim Sturgess in the romantic comedy set during the coronavirus pandemic. The film follows a man and woman fleeing New York City during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.

Sturgess praised Holmes’ directing style and shared that she gives actors wide latitude when they are in front of the camera.

The " Dawson's Creek " alum looked back on how her and Tom Cruise 's 16-year-old daughter grew up in front of the public eye before opting to spend her tween years away from the spotlight.

"What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," the 44-year-old recently told Glamour . "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

However, that's not to say Holmes isn't open to Cruise being involved in her work . The actress and director enlisted her daughter to sing songs in her 2022 film "Alone Together " and her upcoming feature, "Rare Objects."

"I hope she always does something on my films," Holmes remarked. "I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people."

The high-profile relationship of her parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made Suri’s birth in April 2006 one of the most publicised celebrity events of the entire noughties.

Thanks to the soaring public profiles of her celebrity parents, their whirlwind romance, and their relationship with Scientology, Suri’s childhood was a constant point of fascination for tabloids and a hungry public.

As a toddler, Suri became a fashion icon, drumming up controversy for wearing baby heels and handbags to style-out her designer outfits.

However, after Cruise and Holmes separated in 2012, Suri and Holmes took a large step back from the spotlight. While Holmes inched back into headlines for her relationships and various professional moves over the years, Suri has not yet returned to the public eye.

Where is Suri Cruise now?

As of April 2023, Suri Cruise was still living mostly away from the spotlight. However, with an apparent knack for singing, it seems Suri may one day make a return.

Suri Cruise recently leant her vocals to two of mum’s film soundtracks. The 17-year-old performed ‘Blue Moon’ for the soundtrack of the 2022 film Alone Together , and has sung yet-to-be-released tracks for Holmes’ latest directing project, Rare Objects .

“ I hope she always does something on my films,” Holmes said in an interview with Glamour . “I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. According to the Daily Mail , Suri is reportedly applying for college to study fashion.

While a source said Suri was “applying for schools all over the place”, they also divulged that Holmes would prefer she stay close to home in New York City.

In her interview with Glamour , Holmes confessed a continued desire to protect her daughter.

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” she said. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”

Suri and Holmes are frequently sighted together around New York, and reportedly quarantined together at their home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does Tom Cruise see Suri Cruise?

According to recent reports from Page Six , Tom Cruise does not have a relationship with his daughter.

Sources say he has not seen Suri in a decade, with their last meeting thought to be in 2013, around a year after Cruise’s split from Holmes.

It is rumoured Cruise’s Church of Scientology prohibits him from seeing “non-believers”, which includes Suri and Holmes. Holmes’ choice to leave the faith is reportedly part of the reason behind the pair’s divorce.

TMZ previously reported that the divorce settlement required Tom to pay child support of USD $400,000 (approx. AU $) per year until Suri is 18.

The Dawson's Creek star, 44, covers the April issue of Glamour , where she offers rare comments about her daughter Suri Cruise , 16, and her feelings as a mom.

"What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," says Holmes, who seldom speaks about her daughter in public.

"I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent," she adds. "She's an incredible person."

Holmes, who shares Suri with ex Tom Cruise , also discusses the role her daughter plays in her films as she reflects on Suri singing the opening credits of her film Alone Together and previously singing on Rare Objects .

"I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her," she reveals.

"It's wild to have a daughter who's almost the same age as I was when I began all this," she added.

Brooke Shields, who had a famously on-off friendship with Tom Cruise, recalled in an interview this week how she was on on “the list” to receive the $126 white chocolate coconut bundt cake he’s been known to send friends during the Christmas holidays.

But in an otherwise lighthearted chat with People about how she somehow fell off Cruise’s Christmas cake list, Shields also mentioned how the actor’s holiday card noticeably dropped mention of his ex-wife Katie Holmes and his daughter, Suri, sometime after Holmes divorced him in 2012 and reportedly retained full custody of Suri.

In saying that Cruise stopped including Suri in his Christmas card, Shields brought up a painful subject for the “Top Gun” star — that he is reportedly estranged from his 16-year-old daughter. Every once in a while, a publication will report on how Cruise has distanced himself from his daughter and has no role in her life, due to Holmes allegedly leaving him, because she didn’t want their daughter raised in the controversial Church of Scientology.

In February, producer and director Judd Apatow roasted Cruise about his Scientology beliefs and his relationship with his daughter at the Directors Guild of America Awards, showing that he and others in Hollywood have apparently become less afraid to publicly criticize the actor or the controversial, cult-like organization.

Shields apparently did not mean to criticize Cruise in her interview with People, which was published Monday, but to engage in a fun conversation about loving the actor’s Christmas cake. She told People she doesn’t know “what happened” with the cake, which is made by Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills.

“I was on the list for a while. I had a good 10-year run, and I got the coconut cake every year, which I was very happy (about),” Shields told People while promoting her two-part Hulu documentary, “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields.”

Initially, she said the cake was a gift from Cruise, as well as from his then-wife Holmes and their daughter, Suri.

“It was from them and Suri, so it was the three of them, and then soon it was no Suri and no Katie and just Tom,” Shields said. “Then it went from just Tom for a while, but not every holiday. And then the cake stopped.”

Shields indicated that the cake delivery wasn’t halted because of the public dispute she and Cruise had in 2005. That’s when the “War of the Worlds” actor criticized her on the “Today” show for taking antidepressants for postpartum depression after the birth of her first child, Rowan, now 19.

Shields responded to the criticism by writing an op-ed for the New York Times. She wrote: , “While Mr. Cruise says that (Matt) Lauer and I do not ‘understand the history of psychiatry,’ I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Mr. Cruise has never suffered from postpartum depression.”

Cruise and Shields eventually patched things up, to the extent that Cruise and Holmes invited her to their lavish 2006 wedding in an Italian castle.

“I was like ‘Hell, yes, (I’m) going.’ It was extraordinary,” Shields told People. She also said that she, Cruise and Holmes hosted a joint first birthday party for their children; Shield’s second daughter, Grier, and Suri Cruise were born in the same hospital on the same day.

Shields said she’d love to get back on Cruise’s Christmas cake list — something that might not happen now, since she inadvertently reminded the public of his reported estrangement from his daughter.

A recent Page Six report said that Cruise is no longer part of his daughter’s life. A source told Page Six that the “Mission: Impossible” star has not seen the girl in “a very long time.” Representatives for Cruise did did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

In a deposition for a 2012 defamation lawsuit that Cruise filed against Life & Style, after the magazine said he had “abandoned” Suri, the actor admitted that he stopped seeing his daughter regularly after Holmes filed for divorce, Page Six reported.

“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” Cruise told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

In his deposition for the case, which was ultimately settled, Cruise also admitted that his ties to Scientology played a role in why he was estranged from his daughter, ABC News also reported .

When asked whether Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom responded at the time, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

Page Six and other outlets have reported over the years that Cruise may have felt the need to distance himself from his daughter, because Scientology reportedly discourages members from associating with nonbelievers.

Because neither neither Suri nor Holmes were Scientologists, Tom reportedly could not have a relationship with either one, Page Six reported in 2016 . “This is his loss, his issue, his problem,” a source told Page Six at the time. “He must be really brainwashed.”

Where did time go? It feels like yesterday that Suri Cruise was toddling around New York City with her mom, Katie Holmes. Now, the almost-17-year-old is starting the college process, but there is one person missing from this rite of passage: Tom Cruise.

Her dad “has no part” in Suri’s life after Holmes pulled off the surprise divorce on the Top Gun star in 2012, according to a Daily Mail source. The former Dawson’s Creek actress is close with her only child and she’s pleased that her daughter is “leaning towards” staying in Manhattan and pursuing a career in fashion. “Suri is applying to schools all over the place. Holmes ensured her daughter's life was kept private and out of the spotlight, with the actor telling Town & Country in 2017, "It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood." Although Suri has been called the spitting image of her father, the latest shot of the teen proves otherwise. It's no wonder that the two even dress alike.

Although she's a massive celebrity, Katie Holmes has admitted that she enjoys dressing casually when she's not at work, telling Glamour , "I think we all want our sweats." With this in mind, the "Dawson's Creek" star is often pictured in jeans or wearing a T-shirt and sneakers. Like her mother, the photos above show that Holmes' daughter, Suri Cruise, has no problem flaunting a relaxed look. With dark sweatpants and a red T-shirt, Cruise looks like an average teen rather than someone with two of the world's most famous parents.

However, these are not the only similar outfits the two have rocked. In December 2022, Holmes wore a Y2K-inspired outfit on the red carpet that featured a mini dress over jeans and sneakers. Months later, Cruise was pictured wearing a long denim skirt with black sneakers that screamed throwback. In 2023, the mother and daughter looked more like sisters while wearing laid-back airport outfits, per Page Six . The pair wore sweats and sweaters paired with dark shoes. Despite dressing lowkey, both Holmes and Cruise are known to be fashionistas, and the teen reportedly plans to study fashion.

Cruise perhaps looks to her mother in "Dawsons Creek" for fashion inspo. Holmes told Glamour about her daughter's style, "I think the '90s style is exactly back. Makes me feel old. We lived through that already! My mom says she should have saved things. I should have saved things."

The Golden Globe winner became a parent while married to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001.

After struggling to conceive, the former couple adopted daughter Isabella and son Connor in 1992 and 1995, respectively.

As for Cruise, he moved on with Katie Holmes in 2005. The duo welcomed their daughter, Suri, in April 2006, seven months before tying the knot in Italy.

In a 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media, the “Jerry Maguire” star said he didn’t see Suri for three months after his and Holmes’ breakup.

“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” Cruise said. “It’s not an ideal situation.”

Ex-Scientologist Leah Remini has asserted that Cruise “can’t be connected” to Suri because Holmes is considered a “suppressive person” or “enemy” in the religion.

The lawsuit wasn't a minor one either, as Cruise and his team went after the company for $50 million.

We'll take a closer look at what angered Cruise, and why he went after the company so aggressively. We'll also reveal how Katie Holmes might've indirectly supported this lawsuit given her thoughts on the media's take relating to Suri's relationship with Tom.

We turn back the calendar to December of 2013. Tom Cruise had settled a lawsuit with $50 million against Life & Style . Cruise was upset over false claims made that he had abandoned his child. Cruise's attorney claims Tom isn't known for launching lawsuits, but he had enough.

“Tom doesn’t go around suing people,” said his attorney Bert Fields. “He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue.”

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that a decision was made over the case, but that the settlement was kept quiet.

"The parties stipulated to the dismissal of the lawsuit in a California federal court on Friday. Terms of any settlement weren’t revealed beyond that each side will bear its own legal costs."

The publication continues, “Bauer Publishing, as well as In Touch and Life & Style magazines, never intended to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter, Suri, and regret if anyone drew that inference from anything they published,” a joint statement from attorneys for Cruise and Bauer read."

Tom Cruise Actually Answered An Unexpected Scientology Question, And Kept Surprisingly Calm

It was said that Cruise and his team planned to push the issues against the media company so that this type of slander would come to an end. In truth, Katie Holmes also agreed that the media is inaccurate when it comes to Cruise's relationship with Suri.

Katie Holmes hasn't agreed with the rumors and, in fact, she took a jab at the media for their inaccuracies when writing about Cruise's relationship with Suri.

Daily Mail wrote that Cruise wasn't involved with Suri's college application process. The publication wrote, “While Katie is taking an active role in helping her daughter with college applications, the teen's father, Mission Impossible star Tom, 60, will not play a role in the process - having been estranged from his daughter since 2013, one year after he and Katie divorced.”

As it turns out, Holmes completely rejected these claims, but refused to give out details. Since their divorce, Holmes has said very little in regard to her relationship with Tom Cruise, likely because of an NDA that fell into place.

Child support payments did not come cheap for Tom Cruise, totaling $4.8 million along the way. Cruise had to fork over $400,000 per year until Suri turned 18. TMZ reported on the monthly payments back in 2012.

"According to the settlement, Tom must pay Katie $400,000 a year in child support. That comes to $33,333.33 a month. The money will be paid by electronic transfer."

The outlet continues, "Tom must pay Suri's support for the next 12 years -- until she turns 18. All tolled, that comes to $4.8 million. Tom must also pay Suri's expenses, including medical, dental, insurance, education, college and extracurricular costs."

As for Katie Holmes, she didn't walk away with anything from the divorce, given that a prenup was in place. Nonetheless, Holmes got what she wanted at the time, and was apparently plotting the divorce weeks before it happened, catching Tom Cruise by surprise.

The New York Post revealed the details, "Katie Holmes plotted divorcing Tom Cruise for weeks, even renting a secret Chelsea hideaway to escape with daughter Suri. Two building sources and a resident told The Post they’ve spotted Holmes, 33, in a posh 19-story Seventh Avenue building, where rents range from $4,000 to $25,000 a month and celebs secure under-the-radar homes."

Both have moved on since then, while Suri's child support payments have also ended.

Suri Cruise stepped out again in what appears to be her go-to jacket.

The 17-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise went for a stroll around New York City on Tuesday wearing her Maje Western-style shearling coat ($2,695 $1,347). She paired the pricey outwear with cozy-looking drawstring pants and celebrity-beloved Birkenstock suede clogs ($160).

Suri carried her favorite water bottle throughout the jaunt with a friend and did not appear to be recognized by passersby as they enjoyed their day on the town.

The Hollywood scion previously wore the jacket while out with Holmes, 45, to whom she looks identical. The “Dawson’s Creek” alum wore an oversize denim jacket during the February outing to complement her daughter’s jeans.

It appears Suri has more in common with her mom than just appearances, as Page Six broke the news in December that the progeny earned a starring role in her school’s play.

We heard Suri played Morticia Addams in “The Addams Family: A New Musical.”

“She was amazing,” one impressed audience member told us, adding that Suri did not name-drop her famous parents in her bio.
