Description.

Automatically copy selected text to the clipboard. When text is selected using the mouse it will automatically be copied to the app. We’ve found that just about the only time I select text in my browser is when I want to copy it to the clipboard. This extension is meant to streamline the process. You will be able to access the history of the texts you have saved using the application in the Safari navigation bar. Activate this very simple and useful extension for your browser.

pretty sub par, not automatic, actually wastes time using this app

Works... partly.

This app does half of what it is supposed to do. It absolutely copies selected text into the app, where it can be accessed later. It does not, however, copy it into the clipboard automatically. It only does this if the selection is then clicked in the app. If selected text were copied into the clipboard by default, this would be perfect (and get five stars).

Didn't seem to do anything.

I have similar behavior set up in iterm and sublime text, and was really hoping to see this work in Safari, but nothing ever got copied. App was running, Safari 12.1 was running in 10.14.4, but no text ever copied, even after a restart.

How to Automatically Copy Selected Text in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox

If you're frequently copying text from your browser (as most of us do), here are extensions you can use to automate and speed up the process.

Many users need to copy and paste URLs, email addresses, script code, and other details on webpages now and then while web browsing. The usual way to copy text is to select it and press Ctrl + C . No browsers include options for enabling automatic copying of text.

However, some Chrome, Edge, and Firefox extensions enable users to automatically copy text by simply selecting it without pressing Ctrl + C . This is how you can automatically copy text in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox with two different extensions.

How to Automatically Copy Selected Text With Auto Copy

Auto Copy is an extension you can add to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge (and possibly other Chromium-based browsers ). It eliminates the need to press Ctrl + C and includes additional features for copying and pasting text. You can install Auto Copy by clicking the Add to Chrome or Get buttons on the Chrome/Edge pages linked below.

To automatically copy the text on a page after installing the extension, open a new webpage in your browser. Select a passage of text on the page by dragging the cursor over it as you would usually. Then you’ll notice a small Auto Copied notification box at the bottom right of your browser, which confirms the copying of the text.

Now open Notepad, or a word processor, to paste in the content. Pressing the Ctrl + V hotkey will paste in whatever text you selected to automatically copy in Chrome or Edge.

If you have enabled clipboard history in Windows 11/10, you can also view copied items there by pressing the Windows + V key combo. Our guide for using the Clipboard Manager in Windows includes further info for enabling that feature.

To explore Auto Copy’s other features, check out that extension’s settings tab. You can view that tab in Chrome by pressing the Extensions (jigsaw piece) button and clicking Auto Copy’s More actions menu. Then select Options to view the Auto Copy: Options tab.

Selecting Copy without formatting enables one of Auto Copy’s most useful features. It’s a feature to strip text formatting for copying and pasting from your browser. That feature will save you from having to manually remove text formatting after pasting in word processors.

You can also select for your copied text to include additional source info, which is another interesting feature. Click the Include an informational comment checkbox to enable that feature. The pasted text will then include extra “Copied from…” info that cites the website and URL from which you copied the content.

The Paste on middle click option enables middle-click paste functionality for copied content. Pressing the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) will paste copied content into website text boxes open in your browser. However, that feature won’t work for software outside the browser you added Auto Copy.

Selecting the Press Ctrl key while selecting to disable Auto Copy option activates a hotkey for temporarily disabling the extension’s automatic copying. By default, that key is set to Ctrl . Holding Ctrl while selecting text will disable automatic copying with that setting selected. However, you can choose alternative Shift and Alt key combinations on that setting’s drop-down menu.

How to Automatically Copy Selected Text With Copy on Select

Auto Copy isn’t available for Firefox, but Copy on Select is a similar, albeit more basic, extension you can add to Mozilla’s flagship browser. However, this add-on has zero additional options and features. Select the Add to Firefox option on the Copy to Select download page to try out this extension.

Copy on Select works much the same as Auto Copy. Open a webpage, and select some text to copy on it with your mouse’s cursor. Unlike Auto Copy, this add-on doesn’t have any alert on copy notifications.

Then open some software to paste in the content. You can select the Paste options within many software packages, or press the universal Ctrl + V hotkey to insert the text from the clipboard.

Copy Text in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox Without Pressing Ctrl + C

Now you can instantly copy the text on webpages with the Auto Copy and Copy to Select browser extensions. Those extensions provide a more convenient, automatic way to copy to the clipboard. Auto Copy’s options for copying plain text, adding source info, and middle-mouse button pasting are also useful extra features.

Automatically Copy Selected Text with Keyboard Maestro and iClip

Posted by Bakari Chavanu | Oct 27, 2016 | Advanced , Keyboard Maestro Tips | 12 |

Nothing waste more time on the computer in my view than punching hotkeys. I know…I know, hotkeys are supposed to be a faster than using the cursor for triggering computer actions, but with Mac automation tools, hotkeys and menu items don’t always need to be manually clicked.

Case and point: Say you need to copy and paste several pieces of text from one application to another. You probably first select the text, click Command+C to copy the text; switch to the next application, and then click Command+V to paste the text. Then you start the process over again. After repeating these steps several times, you may start getting annoyed. You want a faster way, with less clicking. Well there are a few ways to reduce the clicking.

You could use the  menu bar utility, PopClip , to copy and paste between applications, and that works great—no hotkeys to click. But PopClip can only save one clipping at a time to the System Clipboard. The following might be a better solution using  the automation application, Keyboard Maestro and the clipboard manager, iClip.

How It Works

When I want to copy several items of text, I use a Keyboard Maestro macro that automatically copies selected text when I release my right-thumb off the trackpad. The macro triggers a Command+Option+C hotkey, which places the selected text in an iClip bin.

With this setup, I don’t have to hassle with clicking hotkeys over and over because Keyboard Maestro handles the job for me.

Keyboard Maestro Macro

Now if you notice how I trigger this action, I can’t leave this macro enabled because if I do Keyboard Maestro will trigger the keystroke each time I click and release on my trackpad. So this solution is most useful for when I have lots of text to copy.

If I used this action regularly, I would trigger the macro with both the mouse release click while also holding down a selected modifier key. That way I could leave the macro enabled all the time.

iClip Clipboard Manager

The great thing about using the iClip manager  (affiliate link) is that it allows for adding hotkeys for over a dozen actions, including switching clipping sets, showing and hiding the iClip window, and copying all saved text in a set to the system clipboard.

For my automatic copy macro, I have created a Temporary clipping set in iClip that I switch to copy my temporary clippings when I’m using the KM action. I can also create a new clipping set or use an existing set to save clippings in iClip for future use.

iClip stays parked on the left side of my desktop, which makes it easy to click and paste items in the bins into another application.

iClip is a powerful clipboard manager that I access for saved URLs, snippets of text, and copied images. Items can be labeled, moved or copied to between sets, and exported and archived for later use.

iClip is available in the Mac App Store for $14.99.

Other Methods

I’ve also written another article about copying items to a single bin in iClip using a similar Keyboard Maestro macro. And there’s the clipboard manager feature in Alfred that you will want to use if you do a lot copying and pasting on your Mac.

These type of hacks or actions are another example of how Mac automation tools can save clicking and performing redundant tasks.

Let me know what you think of this macro setup, and what questions, if any, you have for using it.

“But PopClip can only save one clipping at a time to the System Clipboard.”

There is a PopClip Extention called “Append”. It appears as a “+” symbol. It is near the bottom of the Extention list page.

Here’s the description of Append’s action: “Append the selected text to the existing clipboard contents. If you hold down ⌥, it will prepend instead.”

With Append you can load up the system clipboard with as many clips as you like. A limitation with Append is that the next time you copy something all that is currently on the clipboard is replaced so Appending is useful for a single instance of gathering clips and pasting them. Keyboard Maestro Has a structure that allows you to archive a clipboard history to reuse later and I haven’t played with it.

' src=

Awe, thanks for the tip. The append is very useful. My action is mainly for copying individual applications, whereas the append action could put all the copies on a single clipping, correct? But it’s still a good action to have. Thanks for letting us know about it.

QuickKeys (poor Quickeys, sob sob) had a terrific action where pressing the Tilde key after making a selection copied it then after placing the cursor where the paste to go, pressing the Tilde key pasted the text. It was a neat action that I found useful and haven’t figured out how to recreate with Keyboard Maestro or any other app.

Awe, yes, I definitely remember that Tilde key action. The action I describe in the article is based on the copy and paste action I used in QuicKeys. I wonder if that application is still working? I check once and they said it was updated for El Capitan, but I didn’t take the time to download and check it out. Thanks for your feedback, Bern.

Hi, how can you record de event in the box “magic trackpad 2 button 1” ?? I click but dont work 🙁

Hi dsz, after you select the USB Device Kay Trigger, the box should be highlighted blue. Then click on your trackpad. It the Magic Trackpad Button 1 should appear. You then select the modifier key you want to use. Have you tried that, and nothing appears?

Hi Bakari, Nothing appears, only work If I press some key together.

Hmm, that’s weird. So you have to press a modification key in order for the Trackpad trigger to show? If there’s a glitch in the program, you may need to contact the Keyboard Maestro developer. He’s great about responding back. Register in this forum: https://forum.keyboardmaestro.com . Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Hey this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Blog editing in WordPress has both.

' src=

Hey Bakari, I don’t get the need for or advantage of using iClip in addition to Keyboard Maestro’s already robust clipboard management features. Is there some functionality iClip adds that I’m missing?

I use iClip to easily store and retrieve sets of clippings, as well as another way to access my clipboard history from iClip parked on the side of screen. I’m not too much of fan of KM’s clipboard UI, but not saying it’s not useful. It probably depends how much you use clippings. I write throughout the day, so I use three clipping apps, including Alfred’s. Thanks for your question. I might write a fuller response in an article. How are you using KM’s clippings?

How to AutoFill Verification Codes in Safari from Email and Messages?

Like to create hyperlink from copied text and paste into html body such as a Gmail email.

I would like to have a hyperlink of the URL made automatically each time I copy text from a webpage in Safari.

Then I would like the paste d text to render as a clickable link inside a message in html such as a new Gmail email message.

Searching for this feature doesn't turn up anything in the Safari extensions store.

But this is how I research.

Is there a solution?

There can be no automatic URL assignment of pasted plain text from the Apple clipboard, as no URL of the donor site accompanies the original copied text onto the clipboard.

If the copied text is itself a URL link, or a URL link resides within the copied text, then that hyperlink survives a copy/paste operation into Apple Mail, and probably even Gmail.

So far, only content selected in Safari enables a workable Quick Action to paste linked text into Apple Mail, and Google Mail (web). I do not have a resident Gmail application on my Mac, so haven't tested that. Here is a paste into Gmail (web):

auto copy for safari

Is this the formatting you expected? A dialog will appear when the URL linked text is ready to paste from the clipboard.

To set up the Quick Action, you do Dock : Launchpad : Other : Automator. Then:

  • New Document : Quick Action : Choose
  • From Utilities Library, drag and drop Copy to Clipboard action into the large workflow window
  • From Utilities Library, drag and drop Run AppleScript action below the preceding action.
  • Select all content in the Run AppleScript window, and backspace to remove.
  • Copy/paste the following code (below) back into the Run AppleScript window. Click the hammer icon to compile.
  • Save… I named my Quick Action: Selected Text as Mail URL .

When you select text in Safari, you can either right-click and choose Services -> Text as Mail URL, or access the Quick Action from the Safari : Services sub-menu. You can even assign an unused keyboard shortcut to this Quick Action in System Preferences : Keyboard : Shortcuts : Services by clicking on the far right entry for the Quick Action entry where it shows none . This will change to Add Shortcut, and clicked again, it will present an entry field for the keyboard shortcut. Press return. Now, after selecting text in Safari, you can just press the keyboard shortcut.

Firefox used to make getting the URL of the current page easy via AppleScript but no longer. So I didn't add support for Firefox, and I don't have Google Chrome installed. AppleScript will panic when it cannot find the installed application, so I couldn't add the Chrome code in the above either.

The finished Quick Action:

suh-weeeet!

I haven't tried the keyboard shortcut yet but will definitely hook it up for even greater ease.

The pasted text has a nice and tight font too.

Thank you very much!

One last request if you get around to it:

Is there anyway to add citation script to the bottom of each excerpted text such as this code from Wikepedia

  • { {cite web |url= http://www.example.org/ |title=My Favorite Things, Part II |last=Doe |first=John |publisher=Open Publishing |date=April 30, 2005 |website=Encyclopedia of Things |access-date=June 27, 2019}}

Doe, John (April 30, 2005).  "My Favorite Things, Part II" .  Encyclopedia of Things . Open Publishing. Retrieved June 27, 2019.

That would be bangin'...

Then I can attribute to the author when optional or compulsory.

Thanks Viking OSX!!

Jun 17, 2019 5:29 PM in response to jpeek345

I have an Automator Quick Action that I have tested on Mojave 10.14.5, that I believe will do what you want.

You select text on a web page, and then right-click to expose the Services menu, where you select the Quick Action name. Automator then gets this text, puts it on the clipboard, and then gets the URL of the current tab that you were on in the browser.

Then, it constructs the hyperlinked text that you selected, and puts it back on the clipboard. A dialog appears informing you that it is available to paste in Mail, where the hyperlinked text pastes, and clicking on that link sends you back to the webpage where the text originated. Right now, this works for Safari and Apple Mail, but may also work with Gmail.

Jun 20, 2019 10:53 PM in response to VikingOSX

I'd be interested in the AQA you've taken the time to describe.

I just hope that I can operate it in Safari and completely divorced from Apple Mail.

Is it comprised of many steps?

Jun 25, 2019 10:13 AM in response to VikingOSX

This looks good but I won't be able to implement it until this weekend June 28-30th.

If it works it can also impart solutions to other Safari workflow shortcuts/macros I've been seeking for awhile.

Looking forward to it.

I'll get back to you soon. :-)

Jun 29, 2019 5:22 AM in response to jpeek345

I will have to pass on the citation formatting because other than the copied text, URL, and the title on the browser tab, I have no access to any other automatically captured citation formatted content from the source.

Has it got to do with GMAIL changes or Safari changes?

I will be around in that timeframe. Give it a try then.

Its often helpful to know what can't be done with a standard but still looking for this simple capability in an extension or an automator script...

Jun 29, 2019 8:07 PM in response to VikingOSX

Thats cool.

I really appreciate this capability.

The automator is also robust because its an automator script and not dependent on a browsers build.

The Jeep brand is returning to Moab, Utah, for the 58th annual Easter Jeep Safari, March 23-31, 2024, with four new eye-catching and mission-capable concept cars.

Mike Koval Jr., the Senior Vice President of Mopar service, parts, and customer support for North America, eagerly anticipates the 58th annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. He stated that his team can’t wait to present a new concept car range that incorporates their latest production parts and accessories. These parts and accessories have been factory-tested, factory-backed, and specially designed to tackle some of the world’s toughest trails.

Among the customized Jeeps are two redesigned Wranglers , one with a 392 V-8 engine and the other a 4xe hybrid that honors the civilian Jeeps made after World War II. In Utah’s high desert, the business also has a Gladiator pickup outfitted with various Mopar parts and a Grand Wagoneer SUV that’s essentially a camper van.

The 2024 Easter Jeep Safari (EJS) concept vehicles include:

  • Low Down Concept: This model honors the Lower 40 , an idea Jeep designers introduced to Moab fifteen years ago. With unique carbon fenders, it has a standard height but big mud tires and a monster 475 horsepower V-8 engine.
  • Willys Dispatcher Concept: Designers combined a contemporary 4xe plug-in hybrid drivetrain with vintage features from a post-war Jeep, such as the “steelie” wheels, radioactive green paint, and an old-fashioned bumper. Saddle leather seats and “houndstooth” fabric inlays are featured inside.
  • Gladiator Rubicon High Top Concept: The vehicle boasts a stylish metallic appearance with throwback decorations, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, Dana 60 axles, an AccuAir adjustable suspension system, a reworked front bumper featuring a Warn winch, rock rail power steps, and an opulent interior.
  • Vacationeer Concept: In addition to the impressive LED lighting, the Spearminted exterior features woodgrain decorations, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, skid plates, a Warn winch, a rooftop carbon-fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft with a temperature-controlled sleeping place for two, and a cargo floor carpeted with beds.

Jeep has been testing several iterations of the Magneto , an all-electric Wrangler concept, at the Moab gathering for the past few years. This is unsurprising, given that Jeep intends to launch several EV vehicles later this year. However, every design this year is a plug-in hybrid or entirely gas-powered vehicle.

Easter Jeep Safari Concepts Include A Wrangler 392 Send-Off

Chase Bierenkoven

As the ancient texts dictate, it is once again time for the Easter Jeep Safari, and that means four new Jeep concepts will accompany the brand and scores of off-road enthusiasts to Moab, Utah for a solid week of off-roading. This year, not all concepts are Wranglers, but there is a notably important Wrangler concept. Following the death of the Wranger 392, the Jeep Low Down Concept could be the last V8-powered model the brand produces.

The concept is as good a place to start as any, though the Low Down is more than just a V8-powered tribute. It also pays homage to the Wrangler Lower 40 concept from 15 years ago. That model had massive 40-inch tires (hence the name), but this time the concept goes just a little harder, with 42-inch rubber and beadlock wheels. Amazingly, these are fitted to a 392 with stock suspension, though some updated carbon fiber fenders are needed to clear the huge tires. The axles have been modified, so the 392 body isn’t entirely stock, though the new Dana 60 axles are hooked to the stock V8 drivetrain. Other notable changes include special paint, graphics, a clear hood, and a custom interior.

Keeping with the Wrangler theme, Jeep has also brought along a Gladiator concept this year. The Rubicon High Top concept is here to showcase various Jeep Performance parts and comes fitted with the same Dana 60 axles used in the Low Down, this time paired with AccuAir air suspension. These are held up by 40-inch tires and KMC Grenade Crawl beadlock wheels. Things are rounded off with the usual complement of graphics and custom interior pieces, as well as an AEV bumper, Warn winch, and powered rock rails.

auto copy for safari

The final Easter Safari concept based on the Wrangler is the Dispatcher Concept, themed around early Willys Jeeps owned by civilians post-war. Using the 4xe as its base, Jeep upgrades the hybrid off-roader with 46-inch tires, Dana 50 axles, an onboard air compressor, and a retro-look Warn winch. Once again, custom graphics and interior pieces like the fold-out tailgate table are in use here.

Jeep also brought a Wagoneer concept this year. The Vacationeer Concept leans into a similarly retro theme as the above Wrangler, with cool wood paneling and minty-fresh paint. The accommodations aren’t retro, however, with a solar-powered and climate-controlled roof tent serving as sleeping arrangements for the passengers. Jeep upgraded the Wagoneer with 35-inch tires, a new bumper with a winch, and roof lights to ensure the Vacationeer’s occupants can also go anywhere. The interior is trimmed in an awesome plaid/leather combo with some excellent wood accents. The 58th Easter Jeep Safari will run from March 23-31.

Troubleshooting, how to sync safari bookmarks with google chrome.

How to Sync Safari Bookmarks with Google Chrome

Many people who own iPhones and iPads also use Windows computers, and if you’re one of them, chances are you use both Safari on iOS/iPadOS and Chrome on Windows. Fortunately, you can easily sync your bookmarks between both these browsers, thanks to a browser extension.

With the help of the iCloud Bookmarks Chrome extension that’s developed by Apple, you can seamlessly switch between Safari and Google Chrome across your devices without having to worry about losing your bookmarks. All your bookmarks are synced using iCloud, and they’re readily available whether you’re on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows PC.

Interested in setting this feature up on your computer? We’re here to help you get started, and you’ll be syncing Safari Bookmarks with Google Chrome on Windows in no time.

How to Sync Safari Bookmarks with Google Chrome on PC

Keeping your Safari bookmarks in sync with Google Chrome requires you to have iCloud for Windows installed on your PC in addition to the extension. Once you’re done with the installation, just follow the steps below:

How to Sync Safari Bookmarks with Google Chrome

That’s pretty much all you need to do.

From now on, when you switch to Safari on your iPhone after using Chrome on your Windows computer, you’ll find that Safari has already updated all its bookmarks to match what’s on Chrome.

Active bookmarks syncing is currently only available for Chrome, but since Microsoft’s Edge browser is now Chromium-based, you will be able to install this Chrome extension on your Edge browser by allowing extensions from other sources . Thanks to this workaround, you can keep your Edge bookmarks in sync with Safari too.

This is just one of the browser extensions that Apple offers to Chrome users. Apart from iCloud Bookmarks, there’s also an iCloud Passwords extension that allows you to use saved passwords that are stored in iCloud Keychain on your Windows PC. To use this, you need to have version 12 of iCloud for Windows or later installed on your computer.

If you use Chrome on your Mac, it’s worth noting that iCloud does not sync bookmarks between Chrome for macOS and Safari. These steps for actively syncing bookmarks only work on a Windows computer. Therefore, if you use Chrome on Mac, but Safari on your iOS device, you’re out of luck (for now anyway, or if you know a solution to this then let us know in the comments).

Now you know you can sync all your Safari bookmarks with Chrome. What do you think of this feature for Windows users? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I wonder how this works with multiple Chrome and Safari user profiles. Can it map Safari personal profile and Chrome persona profile, and also the “work” profiles in each browser?

I might back up my bookmarks and give it a shot afterwards. I’m assuming the worst but hoping for the best.

iCloud Bookmark Sync is NOT the way to go to sync bookmarks between Safari and Chrome (on Windows) IF you use Chrome with multiple profiles(=different email accounts) because Safari does not have the concept of different profiles therefore it combines all bookmarks of all Chrome profiles. After that this joined list of bookmarks are synced down to each Windows PC/laptop so that all Chrome instances running on them (using different profiles) get this full list of bookmarks created by iCloud. As if this was not terrible enough, during the next cycles of sync, all of this Chrome instances (using different profiles) running on these different devices sync their bookmarks with iCloud which then creates duplicates. The longer the sync stays active, the more duplicates are created. In Short, iCloud Windows App can only be used, when Chrome (on Windows) is used with a single profile.

You are right. I encounter this issue when i use iCloud Bookmark Sync.

It there better solution to sync bookmark between Safari and Chrome? I mainly use Chrome on Windows system, and Safari on MacBook and iPhone.

I have tons of bookmarks in Safari and Chrome . How does the resolve conflicts between the 2 browsers? Will Safari’s bookmarks look like Chrome’s ? Or vice versa?

This is a typical big f*ck by Apple. Max users cannot use this. When I have my MBP plugged in I use Brave, better security and performance. Also it works much better with the Google Worksuite im environment because of the extensions. But when I’m on the go I use Safari because of its power efficiency.

How to Copy and Save Images from Safari on the Mac

auto copy for safari

Melissa Holt Read more June 27, 2020

When you’re browsing the Web on your Mac using the Safari browser, you will often come across images that you want to save, copy, or link to. There are several ways to save and copy images from Safari depending on what you ultimately want to do with the image.

How to Copy and Save Images from Safari on the Mac

Here’s a look at the various methods of saving, copying, and linking to images using the Safari web browser.

How to Save an Image From Safari

To get started, launch the Safari app and navigate to or search for an image you’d like to save or copy. Once the image is loaded in the browser window, right-click (or Control-click) on the image to display the pull-down contextual menu of the various options that are available to you.

safari image right click menu

In the screenshot above, I’ve outlined in white the options that concern saving and copying the image, and we’ll discuss both of these options in the sections below.

Save the image to the Desktop

Photo on Desktop

The first option in Safari’s contextual menu is “ Save Image to the Desktop .” As its name describes, selecting this option will grab a copy of the image you’re looking at in Safari and save a copy of the file directly to your desktop. This is a very handy method for when you have additional plans for your saved image, such as opening it in Photoshop . Saving the image to your desktop gives you quick and easy access to the image from your desktop, even if the desktop isn’t where you intend to ultimately save the image file.

Save Image As

The second choice highlighted within that contextual menu is Save Image As, enabling you to make decisions such as where to save the image. The “Save Image As” pull-down menu even gives you the option to create a new folder within which you can save the image.

Like the “Save Image to Desktop” option, then “Save Image As” option will save a copy of the image to your Mac. Unlike the “Save Image to Desktop” option, however, it won’t just plop the file down on your desktop, and will instead ask you where to put the picture. It’s easier to keep your computer’s hard drive organized and keep your desktop uncluttered with the “Save Image As” option.

Open/Save Dialog Box

You could still manually select the Desktop as a destination, of course, but the point is that you have a choice of saving the image anywhere, including external hard drives, USB thumb drives, or network-attached storage devices.

Add Image to Photos

The next option is  Add Image to Photos . This creates a copy of the image on your Mac, but instead of using a standalone image file, it automatically moves the file into the library of your Photos app . As you know if you’re a Mac user, Photos is a photo management and editing application that comes with Macs, iPhones, iPads, and other Apple products.

Photos Library

Once you have the image saved to Photos you can edit the image using Photos’ built-in tools, catalog it with tags and custom albums, and easily share it with your friends and families.

Use Image as Desktop Picture

Desktop Wallpaper Changed

This one’s pretty self-explanatory: choosing this option will make the image your desktop background or wallpaper. macOS will automatically use the “Scale Image” setting to make the image fill your Mac’s entire screen, even if the image isn’t the correct aspect ratio (i.e.. the proportions of height and width of an image).

This also means that macOS will stretch the image if the image’s resolution is less than your display. This stretching can cause the image to look blocky, so keep that in mind if you use this option on what turns out to be a tiny source image.

Copy Image Address

Mail with Link

The Copy Image Address option grabs the URL of the image itself and places it in your macOS clipboard. From here, you can paste the link into a document or email and any recipient can click on it to load the image from the source link.

One reason to use this option is when the image you’re working with is very large. For example, you could be looking at a 40MB image at the NASA website. Instead of saving that image to your Mac and then trying to email it to a friend, you could simply send the friend the link to the image. This saves you the bandwidth of sending it and helps avoid email attachment size limitations. Instead of downloading the image from you, the recipient downloads it directly from the source when they want to.

There’s one thing to keep in mind, however. When you save an image to your Mac, you have a copy of that image that will last as long as you want it to. When you save a  link to an image, however, the operator of the website to which your link points has total control. They may leave the image up indefinitely, or they may remove it tomorrow, and once it’s gone, you’re out of luck. Therefore, consider saving the image using one of the other options here if it’s very important.

The Copy Image option copies the image itself, not just a link to it. This option creates a temporary copy of the entire image in your clipboard that you’ll need to paste somewhere in order to save it. For example, you can paste the image directly into an email or even to another folder on your Mac’s hard drive or elsewhere.

Photo in Email

Other options include pasting the image into a Pages document, PowerPoint presentation, or an image editing application like Photoshop. Whatever option you choose, remember that you need to actually  paste the image somewhere in order to successfully save it. Failure to do so means the copy of the image will be lost if your clipboard cache is cleared or overwritten.

A final note

Now that you know how to save images from Safari to your Mac, remember to do so responsibly. Many of the images you’ll find online are the intellectual property of others, and you’re prohibited from using these images in certain circumstances without permission.

Most photographers and artists won’t mind if you save one of their images to use as the background of your personal Mac. But you’ll get yourself into trouble if you instead use copyrighted images without permission on your website, at a public venue, or for just about any commercial purpose. Instead, use Google Image Search, selecting the image re-use rights that suits your needs. You can find this option in Google’s Advanced Image Search.

How to Use Secure Code AutoFill in iOS 12 and macOS Mojave

Most readers will have at some point received a two-factor authentication code delivered to them by SMS text message. Many apps and websites send the one-time codes to confirm that the person attempting to log in to an account is the legitimate account holder, and not just someone using a stolen password.

Depending on how notifications are set up on your iPhone, receiving a code via text message may mean that you have to switch out from the app or website to read the message and memorize or copy the code, and then switch back to paste it or type it into the login screen manually.

ios 12 secure code autofill 1

If you've enabled Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone, you can use the Secure Code AutoFill feature in macOS Mojave, too. The code should appear in Safari as an AutoFill option in the relevant field as soon as the SMS is delivered to Messages on your Mac.

secure code autofil mojave 2

So as long as developers craft their secure code text messages correctly, Security Code AutoFill should work in all third-party apps updated for iOS 12 and macOS Mojave, which are due for official public release this fall.

Car research, sign in, off-roading in utah at the easter jeep safari, every spring, jeep owners from across the country descend on moab..

QuickTakes:

  • Easter Jeep Safari began in 1967
  • The event serves as a trade show for the Jeep world
  • Showing off concepts and generating buzz

Every year, thousands of Jeep owners, enthusiasts, and parts and accessories suppliers descend upon Moab, Utah, for the annual Easter Jeep Safari. This year's gathering is set to take place March 23-31.

Several Jeeps parked in the wilderness near Moab

The Easter Jeep Safari Began in 1967

The origins of the Easter Jeep Safari can be traced back to 1967, when the Moab Chamber of Commerce, looking for a way to boost tourism, landed on the idea of holding an event for Jeep owners on the Saturday before Easter. Early versions of the event involved a single trail ride, in most cases to the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area south of town. Chamber staff served as trail guides, and the event included lunch with a unique dessert: ice cream brought in by plane.

The Event Is a Weeklong Jeep-Fest

Since 1983, the Easter Jeep Safari has been hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, a four-wheel-drive club based in Moab. The event has grown considerably over the years and now lasts a little more than a week, ending on Easter Sunday. Over the course of the week, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers host numerous trail rides each day, ranging from leisurely forest-road cruises to white-knuckle outings on Moab's most difficult trails.

While the itinerary consists mainly of guided rides, enthusiast gatherings and product demonstrations abound as well. There are so many that you might consider the Easter Jeep Safari a trade show for Jeep and Jeep-associated brands. Scores of companies including Bilstein and BFGoodrich set up shop for the week, ready to help with last-minute repairs while also promoting their latest products.

The safari can be an exciting spectacle for everyday four-wheel-drive enthusiasts as well, even those who aren't Jeep owners. Just about everyEvery type of 4x4 — including the Ford-built GPW, a World War II military vehicle and Willys MB counterpart — can be seen crawling the streets around Moab throughout the week.

Jeep Shows Off Concepts and Generates Buzz

The Jeep brand itself makes the trek from its corporate offices in Auburn Hills, Michigan, to the red rocks of southern Utah to debut concept vehicles at the event, taking advantage of both the epic Moab backdrop and the hordes of enthusiasts on hand.

Several Jeeps parked near Moab

Jeep claims it was testing vehicles in Moab long before it officially involved itself in the Easter Jeep Safari. Noteworthy Jeep concepts that have debuted in Moab over the years include the Mighty FC, the Wagoneer Roadtrip, and the J6.

Many of the concepts — the Wagoneer Roadtrip, for example — function as little more than one-off, high-dollar showpieces, while others, such as the Wrangler Rubicon 392 concept shown off in 2019, have served as precursors to production models.

NCAA Women's Tournament bracket 2024: Printable bracket, dates, games, matchups for March Madness

The first round has already brought a big upset and plenty of thrills.

womens-bracket-second-round.jpg

The NCAA Women's Tournament is off and running. The first round did not provide a ton of drama, but the rest of the tournament should be filled with it.

That proved to be the case on Sunday with the first top seed going down in the form of No. 2 seed Ohio State. The Buckeyes surrendered a big lead to No. 7 seed Duke as the Blue Devils managed to make the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2018. Plus, No. 2 seed Stanford and No. 7 seed Iowa State played the game of the tournament so far as the two teams went shot for shot down the stretch before the Cardinal were able to come out on top in overtime.

Eight more teams will look to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 on Monday as the tournament begins to reach its apex.

A radical experiment at the intersection of art, politics, and life, Omsk Social Club has been described as an “empathy training camp”. The collective facilitates role-playing environments within contemporary art contexts. Utilizing traditional methods of Live Action Role Play (LARP) and Real Game Play (RGP), Omsk crafts speculative worlds in which more than 4,000 people have participated across Europe to date. While the collective works closely with a network of core and public players, Omsk’s game designs and installations are unique and unrehearsed, giving them a unique power to collapse the distinction between artist and audience, art and life. Omsk’s installations have revolved around rave culture, survivalism, catfishing, positive trolling, and decentralized cryptocurrency. Recently, they presented their largest continuous Live Action Role Play at Kunstraum Bethainien, lasting 58 days and reflecting on the idea of life online as “Cosmic depression—Paradise without ecology.”

The name “Omsk” refers to the Siberian city in which Dostoevsky was exiled for discussing banned literature in Tsarist Russia, an indication of the collective’s belief in the radical and divisive potential of art. Omsk Social Club’s interactive and durational installations push participants beyond immediate, visceral reactions. Responding to digital culture with purpose and depth, it is fitting that Omsk often refer to their events as ceremonies.

During their residency at Callie’s in fall 2020, Omsk opened up the studio space to local practitioners to experiment with alternative working methods, while working on a large-scale interactive installation aiming to guide participants into an ecology of the mind.

Tours, Attractions and Things To Do in Omsk

Speaking of large and well-known Siberian cities, one cannot help mentioning Omsk which was the capital of Siberia at one time. The city is located in Western Siberia on Irtysh River. The history of Omsk is not so ancient, but is full of drama nevertheless. It was established in the XVIII century, in 1716. The order of Peter I on seeking gold deposits in those lands was the occasion for its establishment. The expedition was headed by Ivan Buchholz. It was him who laid the first Omsk fortress for the defense of the southern and eastern borders of the Russia Empire on the left bank of the river Om. Gradually, a new city began setting up around the fortress.

Almost after a century Omsk became the regional center of the West Siberian governor generalship. The Governor-General’s residence was transferred from Tobolsk to Omsk. The turning point in the city’s life was at the Civil War, when Omsk became a deployment place for the White Guards. In particularly, General Kolchak declared himself a head of new Russia. Following Kolchak, intellectuals, clergy and the bourgeoisie fleeing from the Bolsheviks found their shelter there. After the defeat of Kolchak, Omsk was deprived of the right to be the Siberian capital, as a punishment of the Soviet authorities. The capital was transferred to Novosibirsk. However, Omsk grew and developed anyway, thanks to the advantageous position of the Trans-Siberian Railway.

In the Soviet period Omsk was the largest industrial center of Siberia. Modern Omsk takes the seventh place in Russia by popularity. It is the center of oil, chemical and petrochemical, energy industries. Russia's largest engineering and metalworking companies are located there. There are a huge number of historical, cultural and architectural monuments in Omsk. Omsk is a city of churches, cathedrals, merchant houses and ‘art nouveau’ buildings of the early XX century. The recently restored Uspenskii Assumption Cathedral is crowned those marvelous creations.

The old Omsk fortress is now a historical city center. One of the gates, Tobolsk Gates, were kept in the fortress. In 1991 Tarskie Gates were restored and became the peculiar Omsk “visit card”.

You can find a "village" part of the city in the vicinity of Omsk, in the town of Tara. Wooden houses with carved cornices and trims, as if descended from illustrations of Russian fairy tales are preserved here. Tara`s Spassky Cathedral is a masterpiece of the XVIII century architecture.
