The climate is typical of a semi-desert with hot days and cool nights. Midsummer temperatures may rise to over 40ā„ƒ and Winter days are warm, but dawn temperatures may drop to freezing. Temperatures along the coast are cool with low rainfall and fog prevails from late afternoon until mid-morning. Namibia is known for its year-round sunshine. The rainy season in Namibia is predominantly from October to March. The rest of the year is usually dry.

Yes, travel insurance is a necessity. Itā€™s prerequisite for people travelling on our safaris to make sure that they are adequately insured. It is also important to realize that should you need to make a claim on your policy (for medical expenses for example), it is most likely that you will personally have to pay any bills up front, at the time the service is provided. You will then have to make a claim against your insurance company when you get home.

Tents are dome-like canvas tents with built-in ground-sheets and screened windows and doors. They are spacious inside and allow standing headroom, and are also quite simple to set up. The mattresses we use are normally around 5cm (2 inches) thick and are supplied by us, along with all other camping equipment, including chairs with backrests, tables, washstands, cutlery and more. The tents are also 100% bug proof, as long as they are securely closed.

In northern Namibia, including Etosha National Park is considered to be higher Malaria risk than the Southern Parts of Namibia. Malaria risk is also higher during the rainy months from December till May. You should use an effective insect repellent on any exposed skin. Local insect repellents in Namibia include Peaceful Sleep and Bug Off. If you sleep outdoors or in an unscreened room, you should use mosquito nets infused with an insecticide (such as pyrethroid). The net should be long enough to fall to the floor all round your bed and be tucked under the mattress. If practical, you should try to cover up bare areas with long-sleeved, loose-fitting clothing, long trousers/pants and socks ā€“ if you are outside after sunset ā€“ to reduce the risk of mosquitoes biting.

Safaris with bigger groups are predominantly conducted in an overland truck. These vehicles have modified seating provisions for more leg room and large windows for better game viewing. Safaris with smaller groups may either be in a modified minibus with optimized suspension, double cab 4×4 or SUV.

Electrical plugs in Namibia are 220 V and are 3 pin (round pin as opposed to the square pin). The adaptors are widely available in Windhoek.

While touring with us, typical dishes include spaghetti bolognaise, various stews, the traditional ā€˜braaiā€™ (barbeque), freshly prepared salads and assorted wraps, health sandwiches, and much more. Vegetarians and vegans will also be catered for with dishes such as Couscous Salad, Inca-style stuffed squash, vegan burgers, Basmati rice with chickpeas etc. Most restaurants in Namibia offer a good variety on their a la carte menus, ranging from everyday favourites such as hamburgers and pizza, to some of the best variety of steaks. A popular choice of game steak is oryx, kudu, eland or springbok, and they all come highly recommended.

If on one of our camping trips, there will be laundry facilities (with washing machines and dryers) in the bigger towns such as Swakopmund, Otjiwarongo, Keetmanshoop and Windhoek. You are also welcome to pack a bar of soap or some laundry detergent that youā€™ll be able to use for smaller items of clothing at your campsite. With Namibiaā€™s dry climate, items normally dry quite quickly overnight. When staying in lodges on your safari, the majority (but not all) of them will offer laundry services. We suggest checking directly with the receptionist at your lodge or asking your guide for assistance.

Africa is a huge continent that itā€™s very difficult to confirm with certainty which safari experience is ā€˜bestā€™ or superior. You should carefully consider exactly what it is, that you expect from your African safari (specific animals, safety, climate, landscape etc.) before deciding on a safari destination.

  • Etosha National Park, Namibia: Etosha National Park is one the best places in Africa for a safari! The largely dried-out salt pan and surrounding grassland is home to: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, cheetah, hyena, zebra, springbok, kudu, oryx, eland and much more. Etosha offers an authentic, unspoiled special feel about it.
  • The Okavango Delta, Botswana: The mysterious waterways, tranquil lagoons and the surrounding land are home to elephant, lion, buffalo, hippopotamus, giraffe, Nile crocodile, cheetah, leopard, hyena, rhino and antelopes including: lechwe, sitatunga, springbok, kudu and sable antelope. Mokoro (dug-out canoe) canoe-like boat is the mode of transportation when exploring the delta to its fullest. ā— Chobe National Park, Botswana : The Chobe is one of Africaā€™s finest game sanctuaries, well comparable in status to South Africaā€™s Kruger, Zimbabweā€™s Hwange and Kenyaā€™s Masai Mara. With its sun-blistering grasslands, mopane and acacia terrain, itā€™s home to a variety of animal and bird species. Chobe is known for its largest concentration of African elephants.
  • The Maasai Mara, Kenya: This is an area of preserved savannah wilderness. The famous great migrations which sees hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, often joined by zebras and other antelopes, travel to and from the region every July to October. Its name honouring the Maasai people, the region is globally famous for its exceptional populations of lions, cheetah and leopard.
  • The Serengeti, Tanzania: Located in the northern part of Tanzania, this wildlife haven spans approximately 30,000km2 (12,000 sq mi). This region is world renowned for hosting the second largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, and thus is also known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.
  • The Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe: The largest and most popular game reserve in Zimbabwe is situated a few hoursā€™ drive from Victoria Falls in the western part of Zimbabwe. This park is home to large herds of elephants, African wild dogs, and lions.
  • Kruger National Park, South Africa: Kruger is arguably the most famous wildlife park in the world and is one of Africaā€™s largest game reserves. The outfit and facilities of Kruger are very well-established, and one can see: elephant, African wild dog, buffalo, zebra, bushbuck, cheetah, giraffe, rhino, kudu, hippopotamus, lion, leopard, hyena, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, impala and much more.

Foreign Nationals travelling to Namibia from the countries listed below are not required to obtain Visas prior to travel to Namibia on holiday for visits shorter than three months (90 days):

Note: * Applies only to Official and Diplomatic Passport Holders.

Visa requirements all applicants must submit:

  • Completed Visa Application form;
  • A valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry in Namibia and at least 3 or more blank pages;
  • One (1) colour passport photograph;
  • Copy of round-trip ticket or itinerary indicating your trip in and out of Namibia;
  • Applicants must have (a) a return ticket; (b) adequate funds for the duration of their stay in Namibia; (c) proof that they will be supported by a person who is permanent resident of Namibia or is Namibian if such a case applies; (d) letter of invitation or business contacts in Namibia are required for a business visa.
  • Visitors with tourist visas are not allowed to engage in any employment while in the country. Should they wish to do so, they should apply for an employment permit in their country of residence prior to entry in Namibia.
  • Health requirements: yellow fever inoculation is a requirement only if the journey to Namibia entails passing through a yellow fever area of Africa by any other means than by a scheduled air service.
  • Visa fee (c/o the nearest Namibian Embassy/High Commission) (you are advised to bring along the exact fee required when submitting your application). Be advised that the processing time for visa applications is around 3 Working days. Incomplete forms and requirements may delay the process.

Tap water in Namibia is usually purified or comes directly from wells and is therefore safe to drink. Bottled mineral water is readily available at shops and resorts should you prefer it. When tap water is unsafe to drink, your guide will always advise you before you arrive in the area.

The currency in used in Namibia is The Namibian Dollar. We have the following denominations: N$10, N$20, N$30, N$50, N$100 and N$200 notes and 10c, 50c, N$1 coins. The Namibian Dollar (NAD or N$) is linked (with a ratio of 1:1) to the South African Rand (ZAR), and South African Rand notes and coins are also a legal tender in Namibia. Here is an idea of what general items cost in Namibia:

  • Local beer : Namibia produces some fantastic beer and a bottle will cost you about N$ 15 ā€“ N$ 25.00 per beer (340ml).
  • Wine : Namibia imports quite a good selection of wines from South Africa and a very drinkable bottle (750ml) will cost around N$ 80 ā€“ N$ 300.00.
  • Soft Drinks/Sodas : A 500ml bottle of mineral/bottled water or branded, fizzy drink (Coca Cola, Pepsi, Fanta) is about N$ 20.00 per drink
  • Restaurants : Prices will range according to the type of restaurant you visit, but most starters (entrees) range from about N$ 80 ā€“ N$200.00. Main courses will be around N$ 150 ā€“ N$ 400.00 per dish and desserts will be in the region of N$ 70 ā€“ N$ 170.00.
  • Sunscreen : Namibian sun can be quite harsh at times, so we recommend a good sunscreen, which will cost about N$ 150 -N$ 280.00.
  • Gas/Petrol : The gas prices are constantly fluctuating but as of 2019 expect to pay around N$ 13.00 per liter.
  • Taxi : We recommend using the services of Dial-a-Cab, charging between N$ 70 ā€“ N$ 150 per person one way, depending on group size, or alternatively you can also use our Uber like service called LEFA (www.lefa.com.na)

The consultant will contact you by email or telephone based on your preference. They will look to personalize your quote and proceed with the booking if the offer suits you.

You will then receive an email with details and the appropriate payment methods. Once the payment balance has been received, you will be sent your travel documents via email or first-class post, usually on the Tuesday preceding your departure.

The records are sent at least one day before your departure for last-minute offers.

There are different methods you can choose for payment as per your preference. You can pay through the following options available.

What Is The Cancellation Policy Of Evolution Travel?

How can I update my personal account details on Exoticca?

If you want to change your password, personal details (name, surname…), and passport info:

  • Once logged in to your account, please go to the “Personal details” section.
  • You will then be able to add or edit your personal details.

How can I update the passport information of a booking?

  • Once logged in to your account , please go to the “My Bookings” section.
  • You will be able to see all your future bookings, and in the first section of each of them, you will find the “1. Your passport information” section.
  • If there is any missing or incorrect information in your passport details, you will be able to “Check the info” and update it.
  • If the option to update the passport is not available , please use the C ontact Form to open a request with all the information, and we will make the changes for you as soon as possible.

How can I pay for my booking?

If your purchase date is 30 days or less before your departure date:

- You'll need to pay  100% via credit card at the time of purchase.

If your purchase date is between 31 and 60 days before your departure date :

- Payment 1:  20% deposit at the time of purchase via credit card .

- Payment 2: 80% via bank transfer , 7 days later.

If your purchase date is between 61 and 120 days before your departure date :

- Payment 1: 20% deposit at the time of purchase via credit card .

- Payment 2: 80% via bank transfer , 15 days later.

If your purchase date is between 121 and 150 days before your departure date:

- Payment 2: 40% via bank transfer , 15 days later.

- Payment 3: 40% via bank transfer , 60 days before departure date.

If your purchase date is over 151 days before your departure date:

- Payment 3: 40% via bank transfer , 90 days before departure date.

The payment schedule displayed are the payment deadlines. You may make a payment at any time before the deadline.

Please note, that we don’t currently accept ACH, checks, or PayPal for payments. You may, however, pay via bank transfer, Affirm, or credit card.

When and how will I receive my travel documents?

Once your purchase is complete , you will receive confirmation by email and all your travel documents will be uploaded on to your Exoticca Account. These will include: transport details, hotels, itinerary, important notes, and insurance policy (if applicable). Your Trip Summary will include information on your itinerary, hotels, flights and excursions and will be updated as these are confirmed. You need to print the latest version before travelling to ensure that all updates are reflected.

Please consider that if your bookings suffer any change or modification, the information shown in the latest version of your Trip Summary will always be the most updated one.

Where can I see my trip details?

  • You will be able to see all your future bookings, and at the end of each of them, you will find the “Download your travel documentation” sections.

What recommendations should I follow before traveling?

Passport validity

It is the traveler’s responsibility to verify and comply with the passport, visa, and travel requirements applicable to your itinerary. You should check the requirements for your own specific circumstances with the corresponding embassies and/or consulates as appropriate. Requirements change so please check the up-to-date requirements in advance of your departure date.

In many cases, countries now require that passports are valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from their borders. 

COVID-19 vaccination recommendations and other vaccines

It is the responsibility of the traveler to verify and comply with the health requirements, proof of testing, and vaccination applicable to your itinerary both at the destinations and for, if applicable, countries where you have a connecting flight. Requirements change quickly and you should check the updated guidance well in advance of departure as well as shortly before departure.

Check with the migration and health authorities for the country of origin, destination, and stopover to learn more about vaccination requirements.

Traveling to Canada: Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) 

An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for citizens of visa-exempt countries traveling to Canada by air . This includes travelers who travel to Canada to catch a connecting flight. An eTA is linked electronically to the traveler's passport and is valid for a maximum of five years or until the passport expires, depending on which of these two scenarios occurs first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new eTA.

An eTA does not guarantee entry to Canada. When you arrive in Canada, a border services officer will ask to see your passport and other documents to determine whether you are admissible to enter Canada. For more information click here .

Traveling to a Schengen member country (Europe): Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS)

The ETIAS travel authorization will be needed to enter a Schengen member country by air, land, or sea. From November 2023, visitors that do not need a visa to enter Europe will be able to register with ETIAS. ETIAS will become a mandatory entry requirement. The ETIAS for Europe will grant travelers authorization to visit the ETIAS countries that are all members that compose the Schengen zone. The ETIAS visa waiver has been designed for short-term stays of up to 90 days. For more information click here .

What is an Exoticca wallet?

The Exoticca Wallet is a voucher that could come from a promotion or a refund that you can use towards your next reservation.

How can I see how much I still owe and make a payment?

To view your outstanding payment amount and due date:

1. Simply log in and go to the “My Bookings” section. 2. Next, click on the "Your Payment" section of the booking.  3. Select "Pay Now" and follow the instructions. 

How can I use my Exoticca wallet?

You can use the balance of your Exoticca Wallet to pay for your next reservations.

  • On the web: When you are in the payment step, you can select Exoticca Wallet as the payment method.
  • By phone: You can also use it by phone with one of our experts as a payment method.

At any time, you can access My account to see your available balance and your movements.

  • If the balance of your Exoticca Wallet is higher than the value of your reservation , the remaining balance will be deposited in your Exoticca Wallet.
  • If the balance of your Exoticca Wallet is  less than the value of your reservation , you will only have to pay the difference with the payment method you choose.

How do I pay via bank transfer?

Paying via Bank Transfer is easy! Please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your account on our website. If you don't have one, you can create it in a few easy steps. 2. Go to the "Payments" section in "My Bookings". 3. Select the option for Bank Transfer. 4. You will find our bank details on the payment page. 5. Use these details to initiate the bank transfer from your bank's online portal or visit your bank in person. 6. Make sure you include your booking reference number in the transfer description. 7. After completing the transfer, allow some time for processing. Transfers can take from 2 to 5 business days. You can check the status of your payment at any time in "My Bookings".

What is a CVV/CVC number and where can you find it on your credit card?

The CVV Code is a security code that, on most cards, is a three-digit code located on the back of the card, inside the signature area. For American Express the CVV code appears as 4 digits above the card number on the front of the card.

How to use a voucher or a discount code?

If you have received a discount code or a bonus, you have two options. 1. Choose your trip through the web . During the purchase process, you will see a field called Promotional Code. Enter your code in this field. Your discount will be applied to the total price of the reservation. If you have any problem, you can contact our customer service. 2. You can make your reservation by phone and indicate our promotional code to our agents.

If your bonus amount is higher than the price of the trip, you do not lose your money. A bonus will be automatically generated with the difference within 24 to 48 hours.

Why has my payment been declined?

If you're using a bank transfer:

1. Error in bank details: Check the details entered for the transfer are correct, the account type or bank details may be entered incorrectly.

2. Insufficient funds: Verify that the account used has sufficient funds available to cover the amount required for the transfer. 

3. Transfer failure: Your bank account was closed or may be frozen or has restrictions applied. Contact your bank for support.

If you're using a credit card:

1. Incorrect card number: Check and confirm that you've entered the correct card number without spaces or hyphens.

2. Expired credit card: If the card has not expired, check that the date has been entered correctly.

3. Incorrect security code: Error writing CVV / CVC card verification code: Check that you have correctly entered the card's CVV code. The CVV Code is a security code that, on most cards, is found on the back of the card, in the signature area. For American Express the CVV code is the 4 digits that appear on the front of the card above the card number.

4. Credit limit reached: Verify that the card you are using has a sufficient balance. Verify with your bank that you are not exceeding the limit of your card. Remember that even if you have a balance in your bank account, you may have exceeded the daily or monthly limit of your card. In any case, you can contact your bank to extend the limits, or indicate that you are going to proceed with a purchase, specifying the amount. 

5. Secure payment or 3DSecure: With some purchases, your bank asks for an extra verification step when making the payment. Most of the time it is a code sent by SMS or through your bank's APP. Remember to have your mobile phone nearby to be able to enter the code you receive on your phone. Once you receive it on your mobile phone, you must enter the code in the purchase process.

Why is my payment via bank transfer not showing in my booking?

Incorrect reference or payment description: Ensure the provided reference number or payment details are included when initiating the transfer to match it with your booking.

Bank transfer processing time: Allow a few business days for the transfer to be processed, depending on the banks involved.

To confirm that we've received your bank transfer payment, please log into your Exoticca account and check the "Your Payment" section of the booking. Please note that, depending on your bank, it may take between 3 to 5 business days to receive your bank transfer. 

Can I use more than one credit card to make a payment?

Yes, absolutely! You can either pay online or call and speak with one of our Travel Experts who will be delighted to assist you.

Can I make changes to my hotels or the services on my booking?

Changes of hotels and other land services are not permitted after the booking is confirmed . If you wish to make any significant amendment affecting the hotels or land services, you will need to cancel it as per the terms & conditions applicable to your booking and make a new booking.

How can I add a Tour?

  • Once logged in to your account, please go to the “My Bookings” section.
  • You will be able to see all your future bookings, and in the second section of each of them, you will find the “2. Additional activities” section.
  • After you click on  additional activities , you will be able to see all the options available for your trip.
  • You will only have to  click on “ADD” and follow the instructions.

Can I make changes to my flights or any other related service?

Changes of flights and related services are not permitted after the booking is confirmed. If you wish to make any significant amendment affecting the flights, you will need to cancel it as per the terms & conditions applicable to your booking and make a new booking.

How can I upgrade my flight?

If you would like to make an upgrade to your flight or ask for a quotation, please contact us using the Contact Form with all the information. Our customer success agents will answer your request as soon as possible. 

Which are the Cancellation Policies that apply to my booking?

Please take into account that depending on the date your trip was booked, different conditions apply. 

  • For reservations booked prior to January 18, 2022 : Please click here and go to section "Changes and cancellations by you”.
  • For reservations booked between January 18, 2022 and July 24, 202 2 : Please click here and go to section  “Cancellation by the Customer”.
  • For reservations made from July 25, 2022 onwards : Please click here and go to section “Cancellation by the Customer”.

What is the Covid 19 Protection?

The COVID-19 pandemic not only created an unparalleled impact on health and economy globally, but it has also changed fundamental behaviors with regards to traveling. In response to such changes, Exoticca provides extra peace of mind for all reservations made from 18th January, 2022 onwards by including Covid 19 Protection.

Testing positive for COVID-19: If you or anyone else traveling with you on your booking cannot travel due to testing positive for COVID-19 you will be given the option to reschedule your trip or receive 100% of the trip value in Exoticca travel credit. 

**Proof of infection must be provided in the form of an official COVID-19 positive test result.
