At the moment, Trek offers a wide range of kids’ bikes under the Electra brand. These bikes are available with 16″, 20″, and 24″ wheels, so they are suitable for different ages. Electra does not have any balance bikes, but there are many 16″ and 20′ models with training wheels. There are also single-speed and multi-gear models for younger and older kids. The best thing about them is fun and colorful designs!

Best for:  Kids and teenagers of all ages, for riding around the block, commutes to school, or family weekend rides on bike paths.

These kids’ bikes are excellent for both on and off-road riding , trips to school, family rides, and any other fun cycling activities.

Best for: Children of all ages who need versatile bikes that they can ride on paved and unpaved roads, as well as on bike paths.

The MT-201 pedal trailer can be attached to the parent’s bike in front and allows the child to tag along and practice balancing while pedaling. The saddle is fully adjustable and the trailer comes with a 20″ wheel that makes it suitable for children between 45″-52″ tall.

Best for:  Toddlers and preschoolers who still need to perfect their balancing skills but want to follow their parents anywhere they go.

If you have the money to spare, we recommend going for a new Trek bike that you will be able to sell for a decent chunk of the original price in the future, if you decide to do so.

Whenever possible, new is always better. It’s true that you can buy a bike with better specs for the same amount of money if you look for used, but you should only do it if you have enough experience to determine whether the bike is in good shape.

10 Star Trek Episodes That Paid Off WAY Later

Star Trek knows how to tease and deliver, even if it takes a little longer than expected.

Long-running franchises often live and die on the attention paid to fan service. While fan service would not be the only reason that a story can pay off years later, we as audiences are seeing more and more callbacks to early episodes of Star Trek as Discovery, Lower Decks and Prodigy continue on. Star Trek: Picard is effectively a sequel to The Next Generation, so it is arguably one giant callback itself.

Yet how many episodes pay-off in both unexpected and fresh ways? There are times when it is clearly deliberate - The Neutral Zone was always meant to tease the arrival of the Borg - and then there are those times when new writers pick up on threads and take them in different directions.

This list will encompass a bit of both - the intentional and the unintentional - episodes that paid off way later down the line. With new episodes dropping weekly between the newer series, there is already enough material for several of these lists.

Let the reader beware: there will CLEARLY be spoilers ahead, so you are now warned!

10. The Measure Of A Man

Coming in The Next Generation's second season, The Measure of a Man is considered by many audience members, including this author, to be the first truly great episode of the series. It is Star Trek firing on all cylinders - a bottle show that defines not only the importance of Data to the Enterprise, but affirms the right to life and liberty for all androids going forward.

The episode featured several follow-ups in The Next Generation's run, including The Offspring and Data's Day, but it would actually form the basis of two storylines in subsequent series.

The first comes in Star Trek: Voyager. The seventh season episode Author, Author is effectively a copy and paste of this episode, dealing instead with the Doctor's rights as owner of his creative output. In this case, it is a poor follow-up. The advocate of the day definitively declines to rule on the Doctor's status as a sentient being, which is both a deliberate nod to Data's trial, but a bit of a cop-out at the episode's end.

The direct payoff, however, is Bruce Maddox's appearance in Star Trek: Picard. He was badly affected by the synthetic lifeform ban following the attack on Mars, yet he created, with Alton Soong, a new race of androids based on Data's neurons. The inclusion of his character makes this a bittersweet continuation, particularly as neither Data nor Maddox live to see the ban overturned.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ actor Doug Jones hangs up sweaty, smelly Saru alien mask: ‘Silicone doesn’t breathe’

He’s ripping off his mask — for good.

“Star Trek: Discovery” actor Doug Jones has built a professional life as the perpetual prince of prosthetics, often donning all-encompassing costumes, both in film and television.

Now the 63-year-old star is shedding his skin as Saru, the lanky Kelpian Starfleet commander on “Discovery,” which launches its fifth and final season on Paramount Plus on Thursday, April 4. 

“You know, I have had quite a career wearing rubber and glue,” Jones recently told The Post, just days before taking the stage at a “Discovery”-focused panel at the South by Southwest festival last month.

The self-proclaimed “flexible” actor has come a long way since his early days as a mime and contortionist at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where as a student in the early 1980s he suited up as its red-winged school mascot , Charlie Cardinal, before landing a gig as Mac Tonight, a singing, piano-playing “moon man” in numerous McDonald’s commercials.

But even after decades of transforming into zombies, aliens, demons, sea creatures and vampires in movies like “Hocus Pocus” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” — not to mention a string of freaky films by writer/director Guillermo del Toro including “Hellboy,” “Pan’s Labyrinth” and 2018 Best Picture Oscar winner “The Shape of Water” — Jones seems especially connected to his “Trek” creation.

“I’ve gotten to know this character better than anyone else I’ve ever played over my entire 38-year career,” he said of fan-beloved Saru. “I’ve spent the most time with him, the most time peeling back his layers … It’s been quite a journey.” 

Not that it’s always been an easy galaxy-hopping trip.

He would spend two hours daily squeezing into an extensive costume that included a four-piece, all-encompassing rubber alien head — plus large, aquamarine contact lenses that required revitalizing eye drops every 20 minutes.

And then would marinate in his sweat for hours more.  

“Silicone doesn’t breathe. It’s like being wrapped in Saran Wrap, so you get moisture going in there,” he recalled to The Post.

“By the end of the day, I could do this” — Jones mimicked rocking his head side-to-side during the interview — “and hear sloshing going back and forth in my head.”

The 6-foot-4 actor said colleagues even had a name for the disgusting byproduct.

“We would call it hot dog water,” he joked.

And then there were his character’s towering boots, which required what he has called a “supermodel walk” to remain properly balanced while moving through scenes. 

“Lady Gaga wears shoes like these on stage,” Jones quipped about the precarious, heel-less footwear, while surprisingly adding that he has only ever fallen twice — and nursed just one swollen ankle — while filming. 

“As aliens go, he’s fabulous,” he said of the graceful, gliding Saru, whose final, 10-episode arc finds him gallivanting across the galaxy alongside Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) in search of a potentially catastrophic 800-year-old artifact with Romulan roots — all while Saru seriously assesses his relationship with Vulcan love interest and Ni’Var President T’Rina (Tara Rosling). 

But after reaching whatever final frontier awaits the crew and taking off “fabulous” Saru’s mask for the last time, long before this week’s season premiere — “It’s like they’re peeling your skin back,” he said of the removal process — Jones finally may be ready to swear off extensive face coverings.

“I do have aspirations to do, like, a Christmas movie playing, like, a dad of someone who’s in love and working through their issues,” he suggested wistfully. “And I can give them some great advice while I hold a cup of cocoa.”

So, no prosthetics?

“I’m pursuing more humans now. Yes, indeed,” he said — before being reminded that Guillermo del Toro could still give him a call and offer him yet another all-encompassing creature feature.

“Never say never,” he responded. “Never say never.”

Ford trims F-150 Lightning price by up to $5,500 in latest effort to boost EV demand

After starting 2024 off strong, with EV sales climbing 86% in the first quarter, Ford looks to boost momentum. Ford is trimming prices on the 2024 F-150 Lightning by up to $5,500 as the American automaker looks to fend off incoming competition.

Ford sold 20,233 electric vehicles in the first three months of 2024, surging 86% from last year. The Mach-E led the charge, with sales climbing 77% year-over-year (YOY).

With 9,589 units sold in Q1, Ford’s Mach-E was the second-best-selling electric SUV in the US behind Tesla’s Model Y .

Ford Pro, the company’s commercial and software unit, continues expanding, with E-transit sales up 148% in Q1. The E-Transit was the top-selling electric van, with 2,891 units sold.

The F-150 Lightning remained the top-selling electric pickup in the US, with 7,743 units sold, topping Rivian’s R1T (which is also offering deals this month ).

Ford’s EV sales surge comes after the automaker slashed Mach-E prices by up to $8,100 in February. The automaker also introduced significant incentives on the F-150 Lightning, including up to $12,500 in retail bonus cash.

In January, Ford announced new F-150 Lightning prices for the 2024MY, with most trims getting price hikes between $2,000 and $7,500. The base 2024 F-150 Lightning Pro starts at $54,995, up $5,500 from 2023.

The only 2024 Ford Lightning models to receive price cuts from the previous model were the Platinum (-$7,000) and Platinum Black (-$5,000) trims.

According to a new memo sent to dealers, Ford is reversing with new price cuts on 2024 Lightning models.

Online auto research firm CarsDirect found that the 2024 F-150 Lightning has received a price reduction of up to $5,500. The changes went into effect on April 5, 2024.

The new Flash trim , added in 2024, received the biggest discount. Ford claims the Flash trim hits the “sweet spot” with up to 320 miles range, an interior loaded with tech and features, and a heat pump. It’s also equipped with Ford’s Tow Tech Package and Power Tailgate. It now starts under $70,000.

If GM and Ford want to make a true difference for the world, they would have brought out a much smaller truck (Maverick size or a little smaller) in EV with a range of 250. Offer them in front or AWD with a starting price of $25,000 for a base unit with A/C, stereo with 4 speakers, tilt wheel, pwr windows and locks. Nothing more. Top them out at $35,000 for an AWD fully loaded.

Had they done that instead of pushing those fat Hummers, Silverado EV's and Lightning's, the sales numbers would be triple what the above 3 models are combined. And if GM really cared, they wouldn't have killed the current Bolt until they had the brand new one in production.

Ford’s F-150 Lightning is also eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit (for trims starting under $80,000).

Despite EV sales growing in Q1, Ford is cutting the workforce at its Rouge EV facility by one-third, where the F-150 Lightning is built.

The lower prices come as Ford unveiled its new 2024 Mustang Mach-E . Ford’s new electric crossover features more range, faster charging, and quicker acceleration.
