Welcome to the West

Here legends larger-than-life loom over landscapes sculpted in sand. Rivers tunnel through time leaving cavernous canyons in their wake. Geysers steam like clockwork precision and rocks balance, arch and bridge in whimsical formations. Go west with Tauck and you'll find evergreen giants, painted deserts, pink-hued stone citadels as you ride with cowboys, hike with naturalists and raft with guides passionate about the places they roam.

Yellowstone national park, seriously... there's no other place on earth like it – yellowstone national park.

There's everything else, and then there's Yellowstone; it's truly like no other place on Earth. Why? Because it sits atop the largest "supervolcano" on the North American continent – one of the hottest spots on the planet. It's called the Yellowstone Caldera, and it lurks beneath the surface, giving rise to Yellowstone National Park's host of gushing geysers, steaming fumaroles, hot springs, mud pot and more – nothing less than the largest concentration of geothermal features on Earth, spectacular in winter or summer. In an amazing setting such as this, pretty much anything you do – from a wildlife safari in the summer, to a snowcoach ride in the winter… or hike, climb, horseback ride, ski, snowshoe, watch a sunrise or a sunset – is something you'll never forget.

Yosemite National Park

Through a lens, brightly and darkly – yosemite national park.

What a young Ansel Adams saw through his lens as he trekked into the California wilderness more than 100 years ago – as John Muir did a half-century before him – has inspired countless visitors to explore its chiseled landscapes. Celestial bodies trump electricity. Running water falls from rocks. Residents are furred, finned or feathered. And skyscrapers with names like Half Dome and El Capitan are nature-made. Adams iconic photographs need no words or explanation. Even in black and white, they capture what he felt about places now immortalized for future generations.

Grand Teton National Park

Big sky, big mountains, big picture... grand teton national park.

Out here in the Great American West, everything is "big." For starters, Wyoming comprises part of "Big Sky Country"... where the heavens ranging above the region's vast grasslands, winding rivers and jagged mountain peaks do indeed appear to stretch on forever and ever. Then there are the mountains themselves – in this case the Tetons, crowned by Grand Teton (that's the "big" one that gives the national park its name; other peaks in the range include Middle Teton, South Teton, Mount Owen and Teewinot) – seemingly bursting right up out of the floor of the glacial valley we call Jackson Hole, to loom majestically over everything below.

Grand Canyon National Park

Coming to grips with the impossible... at grand canyon national park.

Surely you have stumbled upon some other planet... or at least it feels that way at Grand Canyon National Park. Your first glimpse of the enormous Grand Canyon strains credulity. What giants have been playing with the rock here? Or what cataclysmic force of the universe? Then the drama starts. Clouds, shadows, and the shifting sun keep transforming the landscape. As the sun flames in the west, canyon walls turn red while the giants paint the sky, creating masterpieces so beautiful they freeze you in your tracks. The Grand Canyon sprawls wide open, carved out by the Colorado River, revealing two billion years of Earth's history; here is where air meets land, where you meet what feels like destiny, with just the white-tailed Kaibab squirrel, only found here, as witness.

Best of Western USA

10 days | hit the best of the west on this usa road trip to national parks, canyons and glitzy cities.

Woman in Monument Valley during a Navajo guided tour, Utah, USA

Take a ten-day road trip from the glitzy hub of Las Vegas to the trendy San Francisco, stopping at national parks, deep canyons, fascinating landscapes and small towns along the way. Start with Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon hikes, kayak across Lake Powell, discover the iconic Monument Valley with a Navajo guide then hit the famed Grand Canyon for an epic sunset and a walk along the rim. Visit the Kelso Dunes and hear them sing, then visit the towering sequoias – some of the oldest trees on Earth! Your last stop is the incredibly diverse lands of Yosemite National Park, where you’ll stargaze with a local naturalist and walk the best trails with an expert trip leader.

Trip overview

  • Marvel at one of the nation’s greatest national parks, The Grand Canyon, and walk along the rim, hike into the canyon or just soak up the expansive views.
  • Kayak across the waters of Lake Powell, weaving your way past fascinating rock formations as your leader shares stories of the lake’s history.
  • Hike through the varied landscapes of Zion National Park, taking in views of massive canyon walls and red sandstone cliffs as you go.
  • Learn about the culture and history of Monument Valley during a Navajo guided tour, followed by a traditional homecooked, family-style Navajo lunch.
  • Experience world-famous Yosemite National Park, taking in the breathtaking scenery as well as the pristine night sky as you go on leader-led walks both day and night.
  • Walk among the towering timber of Sequoia National Park and see General Sherman, the world’s largest tree by volume, along with the other soaring sequoias that make up the Giant Forest.
  • Some of the best scenery in Yosemite, Zion and Sequoia is found on hikes. So, while this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to partake in all activities. You’ll also need to be prepared with hiking shoes, a water bottle and a day pack.
  • You’ll be travelling to desert and mountainous regions where the temperature can vary greatly from day to night. Make sure you pack the appropriate clothing for all weather.
  • This trip includes time spent travelling in a vehicle with your group. Extra space can be tight, and conditions may feel a little cramped. It’s all part of the adventure and a great way to get to know your fellow travellers. Please read the itinerary carefully for travel time estimates.

Welcome to Las Vegas! The real wild west is home to some of the USA’s most incredible scenery. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 8 am. Then, you’ll hop aboard a private van. Get to know each other over a picnic lunch, then venture into the stunning landscapes of Zion National Park. Join your leader for a guided hike, then spend the night in Springdale – known as the gateway to the park.

  • Hotel (1 night)
  • Zion National Park - Walks

Please make your own way to the hotel lobby to meet your leader at 8 am this morning. It’s recommended you append an extra day or two in Vegas so you have plenty of time to get there.

Your total travel time today is approximately 3 hours.

The exact trail we hike in Zion will depend on the group's interest and ability, and will typically be either the Emerald Pools trail, or the Watchman trail. The hiking is easy to moderate with a distance of approximately 3 miles/4.8 km with 350 ft/107 mt of elevation gain.

After breakfast this morning, it’s time to make tracks for Bryce Canyon National Park – make sure your camera is ready to go, as some of the views you’ll come across today are truly out of this world! Take a short drive in your private vehicle, then spend the morning hiking through the epic landscapes of the park. Walk along the canyon rim and marvel at hundreds of unique sandstone towers, known as hoodoos, that jut out from the natural amphitheatre. Relax while you enjoy a picnic lunch and take in your magnificent surroundings, then hike down into the canyon for a closer look at the fascinating hoodoos. Then, drive on to the town of Page, where you’ll spend the night.

  • Bryce Canyon - Leader-led Walk

Your total travel time today is approximately 5 hours.

Today's hiking distance is 3 miles (4.8 km) with 450 feet (137 m) of elevation gain.

Bryce Canyon is situated at 8000 ft (2440 m) above sea level. You can expect cooler temperatures, thinner and dryer air than elsewhere on this trip. Make sure you stay hydrated while hiking in the park.

Journey south this morning, driving through more spectacular scenery before arriving at Lake Powell. This gorgeous reservoir is certainly a sight to behold from the shore but to really appreciate it, you’ve got to get on the water. Jump in a kayak and paddle across the water’s surface, weaving your way through remarkable rock formations while your leader regales you with stories of the lake’s history. Back on dry land, set out for a gentle walk along Horseshoe Bend, taking in beautiful views with every step. This afternoon there is an option to visit Antelope Canyon before returning to Page for the evening.

  • Horseshoe Bend Visit
  • Lake Powell - Kayaking
  • Page - Antelope Canyon Tour - USD70

You will get wet during the kayaking excursion, therefore we recommend wearing a swimsuit and water shoes/sandals, or bring a change of clothes and shoes with you on this day.

During November and December, you may be unable to kayak on Lake Powell. There will be a local slot canyon walk included when kayaking is not possible. This hike does involve soft sand, stairs and ramps, so it’s best to wear closed-toe shoes.

ANTELOPE CANYON: Since this tour is very popular and tends to sell out, we recommend you pre-book your space. You can book any time slot 2pm or later. Please book the Lower Antelope Canyon Hiking Tour here: https://www.antelopelowercanyon.com/tours/

Start the day with a drive to Monument Valley – one of the world’s most iconic sights. If this landscape dotted with towering sandstone buttes looks familiar to you, it’s no surprise – Monument Valley has been the filming location for many famous Western films. More importantly, this is the native land of the Navajo. When you arrive, you’ll transfer from your vehicle to a 4WD and enjoy a Navajo-guided tour of Monument Valley, where you’ll have the chance to learn more about their rich culture and history in the area before sitting down to a traditional homecooked, family-style Navajo lunch. Continue your journey onto the iconic Grand Canyon for some awe-inspiring walks along the rim.

  • Monument Valley - Navajo guided 4x4 Jeep tour including traditional lunch

We aim to experience either sunset or sunrise at the Grand Canyon rim, depending on season. During spring and fall when the sun sets earlier and rises later we typically visit for sunrise on Day 5. During the summer months we visit for sunset on Day 4.

This morning it's time to return to Las Vegas, but first we'll make a stop along Historic Route 66. You’ll have another welcome meeting at 6 pm tonight to meet your new group and leader. Later, maybe head out for dinner with the members of your new group to get to know each other.

Your travel time today will be approximately 4.5 hours.

This is a combination trip, meaning your trip leader and group will most likely change today.

Leaving Sin City in your dust, you’ll road trip across state lines and through the Mojave Desert today, on the way to Mojave National Preserve. Stopping at the Kelso Dunes, you’ll feel a world away from the bright lights of Sin City. The dunes are known for their singing sand which produces a deep, eerie sound. To get the full effect, shove off as much sand as possible from the crest of a dune that hasn’t been walked on for a while and feel the boom in your bones. You’ll then set off around the southern Sierras to Sequoia National Park, settle into your accommodation near the park and head out for an included dinner at a local restaurant.

  • Mojave National Preserve - Kelso Dunes hike

Your travel time today will be approximately 8 hours.

Today is simply about seeing the best of the USA’s Sequoia National Park. You’ll embark on leader-led walks around Sequoia, driving from stop to stop as you get to feel small next to the staggering size of General Sherman, the Giant Forest and other specimens of Sequoia’s towering timber. You may even drive through a tree at Tunnel Log, peer into Tharp’s Log and spot marmots, black bears and recently re-introduced bighorn sheep.

There are no meals included on this day.

  • Sequoia National Park

After breakfast, you’ll hit the highway headed for the world-famous Yosemite National Park. To start, get acquainted with the awe-inspiring Yosemite Valley during a guided hike. Strewn with dramatic waterfalls, gigantic granite outcrops and lush meadows, this is one of the most spectacular spots in the country. Your leader will also teach you about the ecologically diverse landscape along the way. After sunset, you’ll join a Naturalist from the Yosemite Conservancy for a guided stargazing program. The park’s minimal light pollution makes it an excellent place to see the stars while learning about astronomy, constellations and local lore.

  • Yosemite National Park - Stargazing with Yosemite Conservancy Naturalist
  • Yosemite National Park - Entrance Fee
  • Yosemite National Park - Leader-led hike

Your travel time today will be approximately 6 hours.

Today, Yosemite is all yours to explore! In the morning there’ll be leader-led walks around some of the park’s best trails. If it’s a clear day you may also drive up to Glacier Point for a view you won’t soon forget, looking down over the valley and across to the iconic Half Dome. The afternoon is yours to fill how you’d like. You might choose to hike along the breathtaking Mist Trail with its many fabulous views, hire a bicycle and pedal along some of the 12 miles of designated (and flat) path or immerse yourself in the park’s history at the Ahwahnee Hotel. Once you’ve seen the sights, the day will be capped off with a pizza picnic in the park for dinner.

  • Yosemite - Pizza Picnic Dinner

After saying fond farewells to Yosemite, you’ll head west to vibrant San Francisco. After stopping to do a walk over the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, your adventure finishes in San Francisco. No accommodation is provided for tonight, but if you do wish to spend extra time in the City by the Bay, just speak to your booking agent. There’s plenty to keep you busy, whether it’s shopping along the funky Haight Street or making your own escape over to Alcatraz Island.

  • San Francisco - Golden Gate Bridge walk

This trip doesn't allow time to visit Alcatraz, so you'll need to make your own arrangements if you want to see the island prison. Tickets must be booked in advance, as they sell out quickly and numbers are limited.

The tour was good, the destination highlights were amazing! The hotels were good, but sometimes outside towns so there was nothing to do and not much choice for food- a bit disappointing. Breakfast not included. The guide was good, driver amazing! There was a lot of extras to choose from, so spent more than originally anticipated this will cost, especially with tips!

We appreciated the number and quality of activities. Our bus driver was excellent. I felt badly for those with limited mobility because they couldn't enjoy many of the hikes. The brochure should include more information regarding uneven terrain and number of stairs.

It was a nice tour. The itinerary was good, perhaps have more time at each site. Pace quite rapid sometimes, just the time for photos. At the same time there was so much to see, the only way would have been to lengthen the trip which was already long. I would recommend this trip.

Western wonders: 10 best small towns in the West

USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards logo

Best Small Town in the West (2024) April 10, 2024

The West is home to some of the most charming and scenic small towns in the country, hosting amazing art communities, tons of outdoor adventure opportunities, and top-notch dining options.

These 10 small towns — each with a population of fewer than 25,000 — have been selected by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the region for their diverse offerings.

Ashland, Oregon

No. 10: Ashland, Oregon

Located in southern Oregon, Ashland attracts thespians and theater lovers from all over with their incomparable Oregon Shakespeare Festival, ongoing since 1935. But if that’s not your thing, North Mountain Park and other nearby green spaces offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy a peaceful time outdoors. Top-notch dining, shopping, and crafts fairs and markets are also a draw.

Durango, Colorado

No. 9: Durango, Colorado

Deep in southwestern Colorado is the mountain town of Durango, a place so gorgeous it's been used as the backdrop for countless films including "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "City Slickers," and "National Lampoon's Vacation." Speaking of its natural beauty, you can enjoy the great outdoors in all sorts of ways here, from rafting down the Animas River to skiing and snowboarding at any of the nearby ski resorts. Visitors can also explore over a dozen historic sites and even Mesa Verde National Park.

Williams, Arizona

No. 8: Williams, Arizona

Williams is a place for grand adventure and grand escapes, especially given how close it is to the one and only Grand Canyon (which can be accessed via the Grand Canyon Railway, built in 1901). But there's plenty of Americana charm to be found here, too, thanks to the town's connections to the historic Route 66. You'll see plenty of neon signs beckoning visitors to stop in for diner food, milkshakes, and kitschy souvenirs.

Bainbridge Island, Washington

No. 7: Bainbridge Island, Washington

A short ferry ride west of Seattle is Bainbridge Island — a harmonious respite from the nearby city life. Try a yoga class at Dayaalu Yoga and Wellness Center or spend some quiet time inside one of the local museums, like the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, or KiDiMu (if you’ve got young ones along). The Bloedel Reserve is a major attraction for visitors of all ages, where you can explore 140 acres of meadows, forests, and gardens.

Gig Harbor, Washington

No. 6: Gig Harbor, Washington

Located along the South Puget Sound, this charming little town offers plenty of activities for a relaxing time in the Pacific Northwest. Bed-and-breakfasts are aplenty, as are scenic walking areas like the Chalet in the Woods and Crescent Creek Park. A history museum, multiple breweries and distilleries, eateries (fine dining as well as more casual grab-and-go spots), plus boat tours and even gondola rides are all available to enjoy.

Manitou Springs, Colorado

No. 5: Manitou Springs, Colorado

Right outside of Colorado Springs is the absolutely charming Manitou Springs, where you can find everything from art galleries and ice cream shops to an old school penny arcade. But the bigger draws? Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, where you can take a tour of the caves and enjoy thrilling adventures, as well as the Manitou Incline, where the fittest of locals and visitors alike attempt to climb up 2,000 vertical feet via 2,744 steps.

Cody, Wyoming

No. 4: Cody, Wyoming

Named after Colonel William Frederick Cody (aka Buffalo Bill), this small northwestern Wyoming town is perfect for a Wild West-style getaway. Visitors can go on a wild mustang tour to learn about local wildlife, check out a re-creation of an old frontier town, or enjoy the outdoors at Buffalo Bill State Park. And for the history buffs, there are multiple museums in the area, including the Draper Natural History Museum, the Buffalo Bill Museum, and the Plains Indian Museum.

Grants, New Mexico

No. 3: Grants, New Mexico

Just an hour west of Albuquerque, you'll find Grants — a little town that offers proximity to a variety of unique and interesting experiences. After taking an obligatory photo with the Route 66 sign, you'll find plenty of things to do, including exploring the volcanic landscape of El Malpais National Monument and enjoying a drink and a bite to eat at Junkyard on 66 Brewery, a functioning auto salvage yard.

Solvang, California

No. 2: Solvang, California

Sometimes you come across a small U.S. town that makes you feel like you've been transported to a totally different country, and Solvang is just that. Chock-full of Danish history and heritage, you'll find Danish-inspired architecture, including some truly charming windmills, Scandinavian eateries like the Red Viking, and even the Elverhøj Museum of History & Art.

Seward, Alaska

No. 1: Seward, Alaska

Known as the gateway to the majestic Kenai Fjords National Park, this port city offers an array of excursions for folks hoping to see glaciers up close, spot orcas and other wildlife, and be immersed in the culture of the Indigenous peoples of the area. New summer weather outlook looks toasty across much of US as June looms less than 50 days away

According to noaa, the warmest summers on record in the u.s. occurred in 2021 and 1936, when the average temperatures were 2.60 °f above typical values. the el niño and the southern oscillation (enso) could be in the neutral or la nina stage during the summer..

Today is the official start of summer – Travel expert Jeanenne Tornatore explains what you need to know about summer travel this year and what to do if your trip gets disrupted by the weather.

What you need to know about summer travel this year

Today is the official start of summer – Travel expert Jeanenne Tornatore explains what you need to know about summer travel this year and what to do if your trip gets disrupted by the weather.

The latest climate outlook for the upcoming summer shows much of the Lower 48 will continue to bake with temperatures that are well-above average, with varying amounts of precipitation across the country.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center released its updated seasonal outlooks on Thursday, which showed the probability of regions seeing above-normal, near-normal, and below-normal temperatures and precipitation. That includes the period of meteorological summer which begins on June 1 and stretches to Aug. 31.

WHY SUMMER SHOULD ACTUALLY BEGIN ON JUNE 1

Forecasters stated that an emerging La Niña will start to influence weather patterns across North America , but it is unclear exactly when the climate pattern will emerge.

The establishment of ridges of high pressures across the western U.S. and southeast Canada will likely result in significant heat waves, which could help challenge record temperatures in the regions.

The outlooks set the country up for what very well could be one of the warmest summers in history, outpacing records set in 2021 and 1936.

Summer temperature outlook

Summer temperature outlook

The only section of the country that could be in store for close to average temperatures is the Upper Midwest , which is a flip from the El Nino-influenced winter when the region experienced some of the warmest anomalies.

The extreme warmth that has dominated most of the year is not unexpected as Britain’s national weather service, the Met Office, previously called for global temperatures in 2024 to finish as much as 1.58 degrees C (2.84 degrees F) above average.

The European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service said global temperature anomalies in 2023 were around 1.48 degrees C (2.66 degrees F) higher than the running mean.

WHAT DOES RAIN SMELL LIKE?

Despite warm temperatures, rainfall to stick around

Usually, when warm temperatures dominate, a region sees below-average rainfall, but NOAA forecasters don’t believe that will be the case east of the Mississippi River.

The agency’s precipitation outlook for June, July and August showed most states in the eastern U.S. seeing the highest chances of rainfall tallies that will be above normal.

NOAA cited the growing emergence of a La Niña over the Pacific as being one of the main influences of weather patterns during the second half of 2024.

The precipitation outlook does not offer good news for all, with vast areas of the West likely seeing below-average rainfall.

This includes the Desert Southwest, where the annual monsoon is usually in full swing during the late summer, but in the latest forecast, it is not an apparent significant factor during the upcoming season.

EARLY PREVIEW: WANING EL NINO LIKELY TO CONTROL SUMMER WEATHER WITH I-95 CORRIDOR AT CENTER OF HEAT WAVES

When neither El Niño or La Niña are in control

Several climate organizations around the Pacific Ocean consider the basin’s El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) state to now be in a neutral status, though NOAA's latest update on April 11 still has the region in an El Niño Advisory. But even they give significant odds (85%) El Niño will dissipate this spring.

The neutral state of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) occurs when water temperature anomalies in the eastern and central Pacific are between 0.5 degrees C (0.9 degrees F) and -0.5 degrees C.

All occurrences of neutral summers over the last two decades have produced seasons that had temperatures above their typical values.

On the precipitation front, most regions of the country also see average or above-average rainfall during neutral events.

What is Taylor Swift's 'Florida!!!' song about? Here's what Swift said about the Sunshine State

According to Taylor Swift, “Florida!!!” is “one hell of a drug.”

Swift released her highly anticipated album "The Tortured Poets Department" at midnight on Friday, April 19, with some extra special nods to the Sunshine State.

"Welcome to New York," from Taylor's "1989" album might have a run for its money with her new Florida-centric song. The former may be the anthem blasting in the mind of every 20-something girl that moves to New York City, but "Florida!!!" has the makings of a new unofficial Sunshine State anthem.

And fans are theorizing that the song could be about Swift and Joe Alwyn's breakup, which happened while she was touring in Florida on the first leg of her record-breaking "Eras Tour" in 2023.

What do we know about 'The Tortured Poets Department?'

As USA Today's Taylor Swift reporter Bryan West says, the track titles are brutal .

Swift announced the album at the Grammys, when she won her 13th career Grammy for pop album of the year. Post Malone and Florence and The Machine are both featured on the album.

Fans speculated the album is mostly about Swift’s six-year relationship with English actor Joe Alwyn and their breakup. Both stars kept the relationship out of the public eye, but this album gives fans more leverage to guess at what happened between the two.

But there's also songs that are seemingly aimed at other figures in Swift's life, good and bad. From giddy love songs to boyfriend Travis Kelce, to relatable anthems about awful "situationships" aimed at Matty Healy . Even a few songs that seem to throw shade at her long-time adversary Kim Kardashian.

Here's the entire tracklist:

  • "Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)"
  • "The Tortured Poets Department"
  • "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"
  • "So Long, London"
  • "But Daddy I Love Him"
  • "Fresh Out the Slammer"
  • "Florida!!!" (feat. Florence + The Machine)
  • "Guilty as Sin?"
  • "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"
  • "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)"
  • "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart"
  • "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"
  • "The Alchemy"
  • "Clara Bow"

Here are the 15 bonus tracks:

  • "The Black Dog"
  • "imgonnagetyouback"
  • "The Albatross"
  • "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus"
  • "How Did It End?"
  • "So High School"
  • "I Hate It Here"
  • "thanK you aIMee"
  • "I Look in People’s Windows"
  • "The Prophecy"
  • "Cassandra"
  • "The Bolter"
  • "The Manuscript"

Who is 'Florence and the Machine' featuring on 'Florida!!!' track?

Florence Welch is the powerhouse lead vocalist for the English indie rock band "Florence + the Machine." Welch is known for several hits over the past decade, such as 2009's "Dog Days are Over," 2011's "Shake it Out" and 2015's "Sweet Nothings" collaboration with Calvin Harris.

"Florida!!!" is the first time Swift and Welch have collaborated on a song together.

What is Taylor Swift's 'Florida!!!' about?

“Florida!!!” is a pretty grungy, dark song about trying to separate yourself from a bad or painful situation and going to Florida to forget about it. You be the judge of if it’s reflective of the Sunshine State or not.

Swift told iHeart Radio that after getting inspiration from crime shows, she thought of where she'd go if she needed to reinvent herself.

"I think I was coming up with this idea of 'what happens when your life doesn't fit' or 'the choices you've made catch up with you' and you're surrounded by these harsh consequences and judgement," Swift said. "And circumstances did not lead you to where you thought you'd be."

The opening line is “You can beat the heat, if you beat the charges, too. They said I was a cheat, I guess it must be true.”

Building up to the chorus, Swift sings a line that no-doubt has Florida’s tourism industry cooking up ideas:

“Little did you know your home’s really only a town you’re just a guest in. So you work your life away just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin .”

If all of your Swiftie friends are googling "Destin, Florida" and "Timeshares in Destin," now you know why.

In the chorus, Swift and Florence Welch, who is featured on the song, both sing "Florida! Is one hell of a drug. Florida! Can I use you up?"

One of the most instantly iconic lines from the song comes after the chorus, when Taylor sings "I need to forget, so take me to Florida."

Which other song did Taylor Swift mention Florida in?

"Florida!!!" isn't the only song where the state got a shoutout. In the first song on the album, titled "Fortnight," both Swift and Post Malone sing:

"'Nother fortnight lost in America. Move to Florida, buy the car you want . But it won't start up 'til you touch, touch, touch me. Thought of calling ya, but you won't pick up"

Where can I buy 'The Tortured Poets Department?'

You can purchase it  on her website . There are several versions of the album available, including a CD, cassette, vinyl and digital album.

These retailers will sell the album:

  • Francesca's
  • Barnes and Noble
  •   Local record stores  (Record Store Day is tomorrow!)

'Error 321': Chicago QR code mural links to 'Tortured Poets' and Taylor Swift

west tours usa

We are only three nights away from the world premiere of Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department," and Swifties are going wild over a new mural that appeared in Chicago Monday evening.

Painters were seen on a green scissor lift in the River North district ( 25 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60654 ) of the Windy City creating a QR code out of "ttpd" letters and "13" numbers. When people scanned the code with their phone cameras, it took them to a 13 second YouTube short attached to Swift's page. A line of Swifties stood from the curb below to capture photos and videos and plaster them over TikTok.

The YouTube short animates like a typewriter with the message "Error 321" and a faded "13."

Two hours before the Grammys where Swift announced her 11th era album, her website, taylorswift.com , showed an "Error 321" message and included the scrambled phrase "red herring." There was also a "DPT," which backwards is "TPD" for Tortured Poets Department. Swift loves to create buzz with cryptic messages and Easter eggs ahead of an album release, because she knows a mural in Chicago with a QR code to YouTube will keep Swifties guessing and anticipating the Eras Tour performer's next move.

The album comes out at midnight ET overnight Thursday.
