Tourest 2020
Since 1990, the Estonian Travel and Tourism Association annually announces the best tourism attraction and since 1992 also the best tourism promoter to make the public aware of the important role of the tourism industry in the Republic of Estonia and to give public recognition to successfully implemented projects in the tourism industry and individuals.
The candidate for the title of the best attraction must be well-known, have prestige in the tourism market and ensure impeccable customer service. The choice is also influenced by the novelty of the service (product), originality, good marketing, a qualitative leap in improving the level of service, etc. Professionalism in communication with Estonian tourism companies, based on international practice, is important in making the choice.
The recipient of the title of the best promoter is a person who is directly involved in tourism business issues on a practical or theoretical level, in business in tourism infrastructure companies, or in tourism pedagogical work. A person must significantly influence the positive development of tourism through his or her activities in Estonia or abroad, he or she must have a personal reputation and authority in Estonian tourism circles and an impeccable reputation. The selection is also based on the successful launch and implementation of new projects.
The best tourist attraction and promoter of the year will be officially announced by the ETFL President at the annual traditional tourism fair Tourest and published in the press. The best tourism object and promoter of the year will be issued a certificate by ETFL.

Külli Karing becomes the President of the Estonian Travel and Tourism Association
The council of the Estonian Travel and Tourism Association (ETFL) approved Külli Karing, the former Vice-President of the organisation, who previously headed it in 2014 – 2018, as its new President.
Having just been elected President, Külli Karing says that the association is to expect a busy year ahead and ensuring the best attainable connection of Estonia with the rest of the world is still very important for Estonian travel companies. One of the key events for the association this year is the 29 th international travel trade fair Tourest, which will be held in one month and will bring the best Estonian travel trade professionals together for three days. Karing believes the issues related to sustainable tourism are becoming more and more important in the world and Estonia alike.
“People from Estonia love travelling, and we can see that interest in as well as demand for professionally organised travel services is great. More and more people turn to travel companies for expert advice and confidence they need in the vast information expanse,” Karing said.
“People want reliable information about travel destinations, ideas about safe and sustainable travelling and someone to help them plan the entire trip guaranteeing that it goes smoothly,” she added.
According to Karing, tourism is an important economic sector for Estonia, providing one tenth of the country’s export revenue. This is why efforts must continue to promote Estonia in the world as an attractive year-round holiday and conference destination for a steady increase in the numbers of foreign tourists visiting the state.
Merike Hallik, who was the president of the association since, resigned from office. The management of the Estonian Travel and Tourism Association would like to thank Merike Hallik for her immense contribution to the development of the tourism sector. Merike Hallik also received the Best Tourism Promoter Award two years ago.
“In addition to her work in Estonia, Merike Hallik has made a substantial contribution to serving the interests and developing the travel sector on the international level during her two-year term as the President of the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA)” Karing said.
The next regular elections of the management board and president of the Estonian Association of Travel Agents are to be held in May 2020.

What are the best Travel and Tourism ETFs to invest in?
Discovering the most promising opportunities in the world of travel and tourism investment is crucial for both seasoned and novice investors. In this article, we will explore the top-performing Travel and Tourism ETFs that offer a diversified approach to capitalize on the potential growth and resilience of this dynamic industry. ## Best Travel and Tourism ETFs: A Comparative Analysis As the travel and tourism industry recovers from the impact of the pandemic, investors are looking for opportunities to capitalize on its rebound. One real ETF to consider in this sector is the U.S. Global Jets ETF (JETS). JETS aims to track the performance of the U.S. Global Jets Index, which includes companies in the global airline, aircraft manufacturing, and airport services industries. This ETF provides exposure to a range of travel-related companies, making it a potential option for investors seeking to benefit from the recovery of the travel sector.
Comparing JETS to another similar travel and tourism ETF, the Invesco Dynamic Leisure and Entertainment ETF ( PEJ ), we can identify some distinctions. PEJ focuses on leisure and entertainment companies, including those related to theme parks, casinos, and hotels, offering a broader scope of exposure within the travel and tourism industry. Investors interested in a diversified approach to the sector might find PEJ an appealing choice.
Understanding the Potential of Travel and Tourism ETFs
Travel and tourism ETFs offer investors an opportunity to participate in the recovery and growth of the travel industry. As restrictions ease, consumer demand for travel is expected to rise, benefiting companies involved in airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and related services. However, investors should be mindful of the inherent risks in the travel sector, such as unpredictable geopolitical events and changes in consumer behavior.
Before investing in travel and tourism ETFs, consider your investment goals and risk tolerance. As with any sector-focused investment, it is essential to balance your portfolio with other assets to mitigate risk and achieve diversification.
Factors to Consider When Choosing Travel and Tourism ETFs
When evaluating travel and tourism ETFs, consider the following factors:
Holdings: Examine the ETF's holdings to understand the specific travel-related companies it invests in, including airlines, hotels, and leisure services.
Geographic Exposure: Assess the ETF's geographic exposure, as some ETFs may focus on global companies, while others concentrate on domestic businesses.
Expense Ratio: Take note of the ETF's expense ratio, as it can impact your overall returns over time.
Performance: Review the historical performance of the ETF to evaluate how it has performed in various market conditions.
Pros and Cons of Travel and Tourism ETFs
Like any investment, travel and tourism ETFs have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:
Recovery Potential: Travel and tourism ETFs have the potential to benefit from the sector's recovery as travel restrictions ease. Diversification: ETFs offer diversification across various travel-related companies, reducing the risk of investing in individual stocks. Market Accessibility: ETFs are traded on exchanges like stocks, providing easy access for investors. Cons:
Volatility: The travel industry can be volatile, especially during uncertain economic conditions or geopolitical events. Dependency on External Factors: Travel and tourism ETFs' performance is influenced by factors like consumer sentiment, economic growth, and travel regulations.
Investing in travel and tourism ETFs can be an attractive opportunity for those who believe in the industry's potential for recovery and growth. However, investors should carefully assess their investment goals and risk tolerance before making any decisions. Diversifying your portfolio and considering a long-term investment horizon can help manage the inherent risks associated with investing in sector-specific ETFs.

Add Exposure to the Travel Industry With These 3 ETFs
June 09, 2022 — 12:34 pm EDT
Written by [email protected] (ETF Trends) for ETF Trends ->
Despite inflation remaining at decades-high levels, the rebounding travel industry has yet to see a pullback in demand from consumers.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced its newest economic modeling earlier this year, projecting that U.S. travel and tourism could rebound strongly this year, reaching nearly $2 trillion in U.S. GDP contribution and surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 6.2%.
There are many ETFs available for investors that offer broad exposure to the rebounding travel industry. Three popular options are the ALPS Global Travel Beneficiaries ETF (JRNY) , the SonicShares Airlines, Hotels, Cruis Lines ETF (TRYP) , and the Defiance Hotel Airline and Cruise ETF (CRUZ) .
JRNY is the most diversified of the three offerings and carries an expense ratio of 65 basis points, slightly higher than the category average of 62 basis points. The fund has garnered $8.7 million in assets under management since its inception in September 2021, according to VettaFi.
Made up of 76 holdings, JRNY’s top holdings currently include Booking Holdings (BKNG), Marriott International Inc. (MAR), LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (MC), and Hilton Worldwide (HLT), according to VettaFi.
TRYP has 63 holdings; the top five are VICI Properties Inc. (VICI), Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. (HST), Marriott International Inc. (MAR), Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL), and Hilton Worldwide Holdings (HLT), according to VettaFi.
CRUZ is the cheapest in the segment, carrying an expense ratio of 45 basis points.
Composed of 56 holdings, CRUZ’s top holdings include Marriott International Inc. (MAR), Hilton Worldwide (HLT), Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), Royal Caribbean (RCL), and Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL), according to VettaFi.
Consumer leisure demand persists, while current capacity issues seem to be temporary, making now a good time to enhance portfolios with higher exposure to travel and leisure.
