The JH Adams Inn is a historic boutique hotel that’s located in the center of uptown High Point.  Over 100 years old, they pride themselves in providing timeless interiors and exquisite service.  This historic mansion offers a variety of accommodations and several suite options.

Pandora’s Manor is an upscale bed and breakfast and boutique hotel. Designers have come in to preserve the timeless charm of this 100+ year old Southern home. Each room is unique and filled with gorgeous details to ensure you have a relaxing and beautiful retreat.

The Proximity is an eco-green hotel located in Greensboro, just a 25 minute drive from High Point.  They feature numerous modern work or social spaces as well as a gorgeous garden.  Their rooms offer a serene getaway and there is a 24-hour fitness center on site.  Not to mention, they’re also home to Print Works Bistro which is a local favorite for brunch.

Where to Eat

If you are looking for an Italian fix, LuLu & Blu is the place to go.  Some of our favorites include the calamari, meatballs antipasti, chicken marsala and short rib pappardelle!

Blue Rock Pizza offers all your favorite pizza combinations in a rock & roll atmosphere.  We love that you can build your own handmade pizza with unique ingredients.

While Penny Path Cafe & Crepe Shop doesn’t have a website, it is well worth your time!  This family owned crêperie serves one of a kind crepe creations.  A favorite savory crepe is the Kitchen Sink and it has everything in it but the kitchen sink and is to die for!

Blue Zucchini & Company is the perfect spot for a home cooked meal in a space that emulates a cozy kitchen.  They offer mouth watering “sammiches” as they call them as well as 6 different salads.  They have endless comfort food and a personal favorite is their classic mac & cheese!

Where to Grab a Drink

Brown Truck Brewery is a 2 year old, locally owned craft brewery that has without a doubt quickly become one of High Point’s prized possessions.  They feature a beautiful outdoor atmosphere that is perfect to sit with a cold one on a nice day.  Inside, they serve a local variety of beers on tap – you can find online what they have on tap at the moment!  Don’t worry, they also have a great collection of wine.

The Wifi Wine Bar is as good as it sounds.  This family owned “tech bar” pairs great wifi and even greater wines to give you a space where you can relax and catch up on emails.  They have live music as well as $5 prosecco and mimosas on Sundays-yes please!

Southern Roots is located adjacent to High Point in the quaint Jamestown, NC.  They have a farmhouse feel and intimate ambiance.  You can grab a seat at their bar and try their apple spiced mule or a glass of wine.

Where to Shop

Wright Choices is situated in a charming pink house in uptown High Point and they are a hot spot for women’s clothing, jewelry, and even gifts and stationary.

The Market on W. Lexington is a special find carrying local home and garden decor. They have one of a kind antique and refurbished pieces that you don’t want to miss out on. Insider Tip:  As if it could get any better, they also have an in house bakery called Dot & Pearl’s that serves the best homemade cakes around town!

After exploring High Point shops head over to The Friendly Center in Greensboro is just 30 minutes from High Point and has a wide array of all your favorite stores.  From Anthropologie to Apple to Lululemon, they have it all right there!  There’s also several options for dining and we love Bravo, the Italian eatery with outdoor seating.

Where to Go Pamper Yourself

The Blo Dry Club is conveniently located in the same pink house on N. Main St. as Wright Choices!  Head downstairs in this refurbished historic home and you’ll find yourself instantly relaxed in this blo dry bar.  Go treat yourself to a blo out and be in and out in 30-45 minutes looking gorgeous and feeling rejuvenated.  Also, the blo outs typically last 3 days!

About Face Day Spa is a full service spa also located on N. Main St.  Whether you are in need of a makeover or a massage, they can service you.  They also sell many beauty products such as Bare Minerals if you need to pick something up quick and are one of the few free-standing independent retailers that carry Chanel!

The Home Furnishing Capital of World is best known for being home to more than 100 furniture stores and outlets, but in recent years the small city has been making waves for much more than just dining tables and armoires. From new art galleries to hip dining halls, breweries, and a soon-to-come Home Furnishings Hall of Fame , there’s plenty to see and do on a weekend trip to this Piedmont Triad town. High Point’s reputation as a furniture and home furnishings destination dates to the 17 th century when an abundance of timber from forests in the area and easy transport along the Southern Railway made the town an ideal spot. The Southern Furniture Market made its debut in 1909. Today the massive trade show, now known as High Point Market , is the largest furniture trade fair in the world. While the market brings in more than 75,000 people each year, it’s exclusive to retail buyers and licensed interior designers, so unless you work in the industry, you won’t be able to snag a ticket.

For the casual furniture enthusiast or at-home designer, High Point still has plenty of places to get your shop on. There are more than 100 furnishings stores that specialize in everything from lighting to fabrics to antiques. A few shops not to miss are Ashley Interiors by Braxton Culler for an expansive selection of wicker and rattan pieces; Capa Imports , known for its gorgeous rugs and pillows; and High Point Furniture Sales (plus their separate Clearance Center) for a huge high-quality selection of furniture from more than 150 manufacturers, all at bargain prices. And of course you can’t leave High Point without paying a visit to Furnitureland South , the world’s largest furniture store. There are more than 1 million square feet inside the store (not counting its separate outlet building), so you may want to set aside more than just an entire afternoon to peruse.

Outside of its obvious furniture-related attractions, there’s plenty more to explore in High Point. If you’re traveling with a family, head to the Nido & Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum or High Point City Lake Park, where you can rent kayaks and paddleboards, ride a miniature train, play mini golf, and even take a scenic lake tour on a pontoon boat.

Congdon Yards , a mixed-used development in the heart of downtown High Point, is the best place to see it all. Other must-do activities include a walk around High Point University’s gorgeous campus and stop on Hamilton Street to get your picture in front of the world’s largest chest of drawers. The popular roadside attraction and town landmark was built in 1926 and remodeled in 1996. Standing 38 feet tall and featuring two giant neon socks hanging out of one of the drawers, it's truly a sight to behold. Dining is no afterthought in High Point. Breakfast is best at local favorite The Biscuit Factory . The biscuit sandwiches are giant, providing enough fuel for a full day of activity. For lunch, grab no-frills barbecue and burgers at Sweet Old Bill’s . If you’re in the mood for something lighter, try the homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches at Alexandria’s Bistro 1605 . If you and your travel companions can’t settle on one cuisine, Stock & Grain is your spot. The food hall features a number of local merchants selling everything from sushi to pizza to hot dogs to classic soul food to mini doughnuts.

Early evening is the ideal time to snag a table on Magnolia Blue’s rooftop patio. On the menu you’ll find classic American and Southern dishes like Prime Rib , Pot Roast, and Bourbon Chicken. Other worthy dinner spots include Lulu & Blue , specializing in Italian dishes and homemade pasta, and Southern Roots , a farm-to-table restaurant focused on local and regional produce.

For a happy hour drink or post-dinner nightcap, head to Brown Truck Brewery for craft beer in a relaxed environment, or check out newcomer Nomad Wine Works . Founded by industry veterans David Armstrong and Aaron Sizemore, Nomad features fermented beverages including still and sparkling wines, meads, and ciders in a modern tasting room.

Best Places to Stay in High Point, North Carolina

Since High Point is such a hotspot for design, it only makes sense to enjoy your stay in a beautifully designed room. The best place to get that is at Pandora’s Manor , an expertly curated boutique hotel, where each of the six rooms is designed in a different style by a prominent interior designer. We’re utterly in love with the Madcap Cottage room. Another great option is the J.H. Scooter & Wheelchair Rental

Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are available for rent to make getting around Market a breeze. Reservations are encouraged and can be made here . If you have questions regarding a scooter rental or to reserve today, call Mobility Concepts at 336-287-7715 .

Equipment will be available daily during Market, 7am-7pm. Guests who would like to rent a scooter during Market may do so at the scooter rental counter located in the Transportation Terminal outside of the High Point Theatre.

Helpful Hints in Applying for Your Visa

Visit the U.S. Department of State website to review changes to the visa process that may affect you. Apply for your visa as early as possible and at least 90 days prior to your departure date. A letter of invitation is required by the U.S. government in certain countries in order to obtain a VISA to the U.S. The attendees from these countries have to make an appointment with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate and present the letter of invitation to get their visa. Registration will only issue a letter of invitation once all credentials have been sent and the Buyer is approved for a pass.

The letter of invitation is sent in PDF format via email. Letters of invitation are not sent directly to the US Embassy/Consulate.

Please visit the U.S. Department of State Website to see if a letter of invitation will be required to obtain your visa to the United States. If so, please include a copy of the photo page of your passport when sending registration credentials.

Check your passport expiration date to make sure it will be valid for at least six months from your date of travel. If you already have a visa, check the expiration date to make sure it will not expire before your trip.

We offer free shuttle service to and from the downtown Transportation Terminal for all three airports that serve Market (GSO, RDU, and CLT). If you’re flying into RDU and CLT, you’ll need to make a reservation, and Travel Quest, Inc. will be happy to take care of it for you. Just ask when you book your flight.

Hotel Reservations

There are more than 90 hotels that serve our Market guests. But finding the ones that meet your budget, schedule, and expectations can be a challenge, unless you call Travel Quest. Their advisors live here, book thousands of rooms for Market guests, and know just about everything that can be known about your options.

Rental Car Reservations

If your Market plans require a car, just ask Travel Quest. They’ll be happy to make sure one is waiting for you when you arrive.

This designation means that autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors can travel with confidence, knowing that we are prioritizing accessibility and inclusion and offer a variety of autism-certified entertainment, recreation, and lodging options. 

Because of the number of tourism partners throughout the city that have completed specialized training through IBCCES and are now Certified Autism Centers™, we are now a Certified Autism Destination™.

Many High Point hospitality partners and businesses have made the commitment to become Certified Autism Centers (CAC) through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, IBCCES. Meaning, they have gone through autism and sensory-sensitivity and awareness training and are equipped to serve guests on the autism spectrum, their families and caregivers. Giannos is an award-winning Italian restaurant that has been serving the Triad for over 20 years. Guests love their stone-oven pizza, pasta, and Italian sandwiches. Their staff is ready to serve you delicious food in a welcoming and comfortable environment.

Sweet Old Bill's

Sweet Old Bill’s combines traditional NC BBQ with Texas style brisket, smoked chicken, ribs as well as a variety of appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Giving back has always been a part of their mission and they are excited to expand their training to be able to welcome and serve those on the autism spectrum.

American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame provides a history of the international home furnishings industry. Their state-of-the-art facility hosts events and strives to engage the community through one of High Point’s largest industries.

Carl Chavis YMCA

The Carl Chavis YMCA is ready to welcome guests with autism and serve them through its inclusive programs. They have many exciting amenities, including a splash pad, which is open to guests and open from May to September.

Distractions Art Studio

Distractions Art Studio is loved by kids of all ages! They offer walk-in paint-your-own-pottery, board, and canvas painting as well as workshops, summer camps, and classes. They also offer “Sensory Safe Hours” every first and third Saturday from 11 am until 1 pm and every Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm. During this time, guests can enjoy a more quiet atmosphere.

Hartley Drive Family YMCA

The Hartley Drive YMCA provides youth sports, fitness classes, aquatic facilities, and more! Their focus on building up and supporting the community makes them an incredibly impactful Certified Autism Center. From their childcare to their senior programs, you will feel their commitment to inclusivity in every service they offer.

High Point Arts Council

Located in the historic freight train depot, the High Point Arts Council is a hub for arts and entertainment. They host exciting events that engage people of all ages, including their signature events: Dancin’ at the Station, Arts Splash Summer Concert Series, and and open mic nights.

High Point Library

High Point Public Library’s Children’s Department now offers a Sensory Friendly Storytime! This time consists of a song, two or three books, and unstructured playtime. This takes place once a month and has a consistent schedule so parents, caregivers and children know what to expect.

High Point Museum

High Point Museum tells the story of the local community. Children can engage in the history through monthly hands-on crafts and activities. The museum provides designated quiet spaces both inside and outside the museum for easy access to calming areas.

High Point Rockers

Truist Point Stadium, home of the High Point Rockers baseball team, is now a Certified Autism Center! This hub for family-friendly fun is now even more welcoming to families and individuals with autism.

Nido & Mariana Qubein Children's Museum

The Qubein Children’s Museum, North Carolina’s 2022 Visitor Attraction of the Year, is home to many exciting exhibits and a double-decker carousel. Kids have access to many different play areas and options depending on their sensory needs.

Q’s Corner provides a “judgment-free zone” for people of all abilities to play! This indoor play gym offers a soft play room, designed for people with visual impairments, a sensory room, intended to provide a calming environment, and a main gym with swings, trampolines, and more!

The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards

The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards offers visual art exhibits and educational experiences to the community. They provide interactive art classes for adults and children, as well as homeschool programs. 

Visit High Point

Visit High Point is proud to be the first Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) in North Carolina and on the east coast to become a Certified Autism Center. The Visit High Point team are all Certified Autism Travel Professionals (CATP) and are dedicated to ensuring a welcoming environment to families on the spectrum.

Courtyard by Marriott

Courtyard by Marriott staff underwent training and a site visit through IBCCES. They offer comfortable accommodations for travelers and their families as well as a low-sensory area for when guests with sensory sensitivities need to take a break.

Wingate by Wyndham, offering 81 guest rooms, is just minutes from Interstate 40 and easily accessible to many of the Certified Autism Centers. Their staff is trained and welcoming of all guests, especially those with sensory needs.

Gas Prices March Higher with the Arrival of Spring

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 21, 2024)—The national average for a gallon of gas rose 11 cents since last week to $3.52. While domestic gas demand has been lackluster, rising oil prices helped push pump prices higher. The Midwest may see a bit of a price reprieve, as the large BP Whiting refinery in Indiana is back up and running after being down since February 1 st .

“Gas prices are a lot like seasonal temperatures.  They start to rise with the arrival of spring, said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “And the national average for gas is now higher than a year ago, which we have not seen since late December.”
