Take a look inside the brand new Beulah Middle School

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — Channel 3 News got a look at the brand new Beulah Middle School on Tuesday.

Principal Will Taylor and Assistant Principal Marietta Britt-McCaskill gave a tour of the school.

They showed the gym, music rooms, the cafeteria, and several classrooms.

Beulah Middle School will officially open its doors in the fall.

Reminder About Expectations During High School Athletic Events

This summer the city of Grove City continued to work on a number of housing and infrastructure projects in and around our new home, and construction crews have put the finishing touches on new sidewalk openings to benefit students and families. 

When new opportunities present themselves to safely get students to and from school through enhanced pedestrian access, so, too, must we adapt our walking zones to maximize that potential and reduce ridership to keep the busing fleet efficient for pick-up and drop-offs. Above families can find a graphic of the new 2023-2024 Beulah Park Middle School walking zones as the result of sidewalk completions around Grove City Road and Demorest Road. 

BPMS families living within the orange areas will now be designated as walking zone households for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year due to the improved pedestrian access. We would like to thank the city for their support with the many new crosswalks, signage, and infrastructure work to be able to assist our students and families in navigating their route to and from school, practices, and after-hours events this fall.

Keep your Infinite Campus Parent Portal information updated to get text, phone, and email updates!

Infinite Campus (IC) is the District’s Internet-based student information system. Important features of IC are the Parent Portal and NEW Mobile App. Through the IC tools, parents are able to access their child’s information, such as class schedules, attendance, academic reports, transportation information, coursework, and put funds in their child’s food service account online. Parents can also designate how and where they wish to receive emergency communications, attendance calls, general announcement messages, and e-mail messages from teachers, the school, and the school district. New accounts need an activation key . The district will be mailing those out in August, so save the letter if you need to create a new account.

Do i have to have musical experience to join the band.

NO. Students do not need any prior music knowledge.

Do students get pulled out of class to participate in band?

NO. Students meet every day as a part of regular band class.

How many days will my child be expected to come before school and/or stay after school?

There are no extra practices after or before school except on concert days which are one in the late fall and one in late spring.

Can my child participate in band and orchestra/chorus?

YES! Our administration values that music is important and works hard to honor multiple music class requests.

Can my child participate in sports/other school activities and music?

YES! We have students in our band represented in every sport and organization on campus. There are rarely conflicts and when there are, we work together to resolve it.

Can my child have braces and/or asthma and still play an instrument?

All County Band

All county is prestigious group composed of the best musicians from every middle school in Escambia County. You must audition to make this band. Auditions are typically held in late October or early November. There are 4-5 rehearsals (transportation is responsibility of the parents) and one concert in mid November.

Beulah Middle School will hold a Sixth Grade Open House on Wednesday, May 24.

Incoming sixth graders are welcome to attend the open house for a quick tour of the school, a chance to meet with club and sport sponsors, and learn more about what Beulah Middle School has to offer.

Attendees are asked to arrive at the cafeteria at 6001 West Nine Mile Road. The event will be from 11 a.m. until noon.

Police jail pastor accused of stealing nearly $50,000 from Dothan church

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Former Greater Beulah Baptist Church pastor Darryl Roberts faces theft charges, alleging he stole thousands before he departed following a spat with congregational leaders.

Dothan police arrested Darryl Roberts Friday morning on Theft First Degree charges, a police spokesperson confirmed.

Investigators accused Roberts of taking $48,000 from Greater Beulah and the church’s preschool center, Buelahland Academy, Lt. Ronald Hall said.

Hall said the alleged thefts, which spanned April 20, 2022, and February 28, 2023, involved multiple accounts.

By the end of 2023, Roberts had left the church after Greater Beulah members filed a lawsuit seeking his removal in a power struggle.

Still, he persisted in his attempts to open a charter school, which the church had first planned, but a state oversight committee on Monday nixed his plan to open Barnabas School of Knowledge elsewhere.

As of Friday afternoon, Roberts remained in jail.
