General description.

Seeing the whole island of Mykonos from above is certainly a thrilling experience, and visitors have the opportunity to do it with this scenic helicopter tour. Participants can embark on the helicopter for either 30 or 60 minutes and observe all the famous Mykonian sites, such as the windmills , from above, a landscape of Cycladic architecture and blue seas stretching underneath them.

The tour starts from the Mykonos heliport at Tourlos , where the experienced pilot first gives important information about the route and sightseeing spots of the trip. The activity lasts half an hour to sixty minutes and makes for a comfortable, safe and quick way of seeing the island in its entirety. The helicopter can carry up to four passengers, so this activity is perfect for small friend groups or families.

All participants must carry their passports, as they will not be able to embark on the helicopter otherwise. If the flight is canceled due to adverse weather, the trip can be rescheduled or refunded.

Transportation to and from the heliport is not included in the price. However, it can be arranged for an additional charge.

The tour is available from June to September.

Both are great but the boat tours last longer and get you closer to the caldera cliffs.

Hi Dave, I would like to book a helicopter transfer between Mykonos and Santorini on July 5 and back from Santorini to Mykonos on July 9, but the price is $2916 for 2 people each way. Do you know of any companies that offer a cheaper rate? Thanks!

Yeah, helicopter fares have been very expensive this year. Those are the sort of rates I’ve been seeing. Not much you can do about it as more people are traveling by helicopter recently (as avoiding the large crowds on the ferries is appealing).

Hey Dave, we’re Traveling to Mykonos from May 31 – June 6 and were thinking about visiting Santorini just for the day. Which ferry do you recommend and which day of the week?

There is no good way to do a day trip from Mykonos to Santorini (or Santorini to Mykonos). The ferry schedules just do not work for day trips. At best you’d get an hour or two on the island you’re visiting and most of that will be consumed by bus or taxi transportation. I know the helicopter flights are expensive and out of many people’s budget but they are the only way to do a Santorini-Mykonos day trip.

How long is the helicopter ride from Mykonos to Santorini? We will be traveling in the later part of September. When will they start taking reservations?

The flight between Mykonos and Santorini takes about 40 to 50 minutes. They should start taking reservations soon: late January or February.

The helicopter ride is sold out for the day we need to go to Santorini. Can we hire a private yacht charter from Mykonos to Santorini?

Boats require a special license to transfer people from one point to another on the Greek islands. Basically, private boats need to return passengers to their port of origin. Passengers can not be left on a different island from where they started. It’s a little more complicated than that but for most travelers, that’s the gist of it.

When you fly from Mykonos to Santorini on a helicopter do you get to see the caldera and volcano?

Absolutely. You’ll get a great view of caldera, cliffs, volcano, and the entire island. Lots to see. Depending on the route you’ll also fly near/over Ios, Naxos, and Paros.
