Coldplay Unveil Special Run Of North American Tour Dates
By Katrina Nattress
January 23, 2023
After spending most of 2022 on the road, Coldplay 's gearing up for another year of their Music of the Spheres world tour. In March, they'll play makeup dates in Brazil after being forced to cancel due to Chris Martin suffering from a severe lung infection . They'll then head to the UK and Europe for the summer, but that's not where the tour will end. On Monday (January 23), Coldplay unveiled a special west coast run of dates that sees them playing stadiums in California, Washington, and British Columbia in September. H.E.R. and Shake 070 are set to play support on all four dates.
Even though they're currently on a break from touring, Coldplay has kept themselves plenty busy the past few months. At the beginning of December, Martin confirmed they were in the studio , and the following week Nile Rodgers revealed he had been working on new music with the band. "Yesterday, I worked with Coldplay for the first day," Rodgers said at the time. "We had a blast. What was great working with Coldplay is that we’re all in the room together and it’s sort of like a spiritual thing. Let's go."

Recent tour reviews
I had always heard Coldplay were a fantastic band to see live. They did not disappoint last night at Fedex Field, right in the midst of their joyous and decidedly over-the-top Head Full of Dreams tour.
The show began with an explosion of color and light (including the LED wristbands supplied to every concertgoer) in the titular track on the band's touring album. Then came fan-favorite "Yellow," followed by "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," the ever-popular "The Scientist," and "Birds" (the latter was a bit of a personal disappointment as it replaced the brilliant "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from recent setlists). This part of the show finished with the anthem "Paradise," featuring an incredible remix outro.
Next the show slowed down for an intimate trio of songs (most of us actually took a seat). This included one of the better tracks from the sub-par "Ghost Stories", "Magic."
Soon, however, things picked up with the timeless piano strokes of "Clocks," themed to a magical red light show. Next came the lighthearted "Charlie Brown." Before it began, lead singer Chris Martin asked everyone to put away their phones and simply enjoy the show. This was followed by the radio hit "Hymn for the Weekend," a candlelit (okay...Iphone flashlight lit) "Fix You," and "Viva la Vida." This last one was remarkable, as nearly the entire stadium knew the lyrics and sang along to the triumphant "Oh-oh-ohhhh" chant. The groovy "Adventure of a Lifetime" finished off this section, featuring Chris gettin' down with the audience, asking everyone to "Get low!"
Then came the highlight of the night for me: an acoustic quad of older (*cough* better *cough*) Coldplay songs which were as intimate as they were nostalgic. The lovely riffs of "In my Place" started off the set. "Don't Panic" was sung by drummer Will Champion; it's one of my favorites. But it couldn't top what was (for me) the best song of the night: "Trouble." Somber but beautiful in its own way, "Trouble" is a rare find in the setlists of today's Coldplay and was absolutely fantastic. Finally came another rare gem: "Green Eyes," which was somewhat marred by Chris's well-intentioned attempt at giving the local Redskins some luck (HA! what folly) by changing the lyrics.
The finale of the show was the hopeful and popular trio of "Something Just like This," "A Sky Full of Stars," and "Up and Up." This last track was played against the backdrop of the magical and visually stunning music video for the song.
And if there were two adjectives to sum up the show as a whole, they would be just that: magical and visually stunning. Thanks for an awesome show, Coldplay!

First of all I need to just say wow! Wow! Yesterday I experienced one of the greatest nights of my life. Yesterday I really did feel like I was part of something special, something so big and beautiful. The love, the happiness and the excaitment people were feeling last night were something you can't put words on. We stood in the rain for so many hours, we sat in a que and then we stood in the rain again.. but let me just say that when Coldplay came on stage they put on the best god damn show ever. You could really feel their thankfulness during the show. They promised us (in Chris Martins own words) "The best fucking show ever" and let me tell you it was! During the night I got to experience people from different countries dancing and singing along together, I got to experience that moment when Chris decided to write a new song about Sweden and Gothenburg! The night was amazing in so many ways. And just as he said during the night, that he believes when people are working together and last night everybody in that arena stood together. We celebrated the music, the evening and most of all we celebrated the love. Because in the end of the day Love is what matters and it will always win.
Yesterday was beautiful, just pure beautiful!
A Coldplay concert is a real face to face experience for a someone who love their songs. It may not be an intimate experience but considering the legions of fans that they have only a concert can accommodate everyone who are waiting all their lives for a chance to hear them live. and they never disappoint. A total performance complete with lasers and light and firework BUT without much fanfare, just them singing & playing their hearts OUT song after song alone or in harmony with the fans some crying, most gleefully dancing to their upbeat song or swaying OR slow dancing to slow Fix You or Yellow and probably thinking of someone they "cannot replace". Chris Martin is an awesome guy and so are the rest of the band. May their personal lives be as awesome as their professional lives, they deserve that too. as to Singapore, it may not be as engaging as it would be in the Philippines but hey, no one can complain; i had the best time celebrating my birthday in one of the best stadium this side of town with around 50K Coldpay fans celebrating with me :) :). Long live Coldplay, may you continue to bring joy to you fans worldwide. Looking forward to another Coldplay concert experience in the future.

Coldplay Pledges to Lower Carbon Emissions on 2022 Tour
On Thursday (Oct. 14), Coldplay announced the dates for its 2022 global tour in support of the upcoming album 'Music of the Spheres.'
By Gil Kaufman
Gil Kaufman
Coldplay announced the dates for an expansive 2022 world tour in support of the group’s upcoming Max Martin-produced album, Music of the Spheres on Thursday morning (Oct. 14). The stadium outing is slated to kick off on March 18 with the band’s first-ever show in Costa Rica, at the Estadio Nacional, before moving on to the Dominican Republic and Mexico and then touching down in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on April 23 for a U.S. run slated to last through a June 14 gig at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
H.E.R. is on board to support the majority of the dates, with London Grammar booked to open a July 10 show in Berlin and an Aug. 16 gig at Wembley Stadium in London. Tickets for the U.S. dates will go on sale to the general public on Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. local time here , with a release teasing that more dates will be announced soon.
Ed Sheeran Joins Coldplay to Perform 'Fix You' & 'Shape of You' at London Album Party
In an effort to make the tour as sustainable as possible, the band announced that all the shows will be powered by 100% renewable energy, with pledges to cut tour emissions by 50% from the group’s 2016-17 world tour and plant one tree for every ticket sold. According to a release, each venue will be equipped with solar installations and other renewable power sources including waste cooking oil and a kinetic stadium floor with kinetic bikes powered by fans that will store energy in the first-ever mobile, rechargeable show battery.
Coldplay are also encouraging fans to use low-carbon transport to and from shows through the official tour app, rewarding those who do with a discount at the venues, in addition to making sure that all merch is sustainably and ethically sourced. There will also be free drinking water and efforts made to eliminate plastic bottles at every venue; click here to see the full list of sustainability goals.
In a statement, the band said, “Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together. At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward. We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far. If you’d like to come to a show and sing with us, we’re so excited to see you.”

Coldplay Announce 2023 Tour Dates
By Matthew Strauss
Coldplay have announced 2023 dates on their world tour in support of Music of the Spheres . Next year, the band will perform in Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Find Coldplay’s schedule and a trailer for the tour below.
Coldplay famously declined to tour in support of Everyday Life for environmental reasons. The band has set out to make the Music of the Spheres World Tour more sustainable, with a press releasing touting concerts powered entirely by renewable energy. I couldn’t find place to house our family of EIGHT so I moved them us into ‘ex-Coldplay’ TOUR BUS to avoid homelessness
- Summer Raemason , News Reporter
- Published : 11:09 ET, Mar 23 2024
- Updated : 13:45 ET, Mar 23 2024
- Published : Invalid Date,
A FUMING dad couldn't find a house for his family of eight - so he moved them into an 'ex-Coldplay' tour bus to avoid homelessness.
Antoni Taylor and Emma Heard, both 30, were struggling to find a property that would accommodate their five children, and Antoni's older sister Hannah who has cerebral palsy.
The dad-of-five has slammed Cornwall Council after he claimed officials left his family at risk of homelessness.
Antoni and Emma have too much money saved to qualify for social housing - but they don't earn enough to be approved for a mortgage.
The carer told Cornwall Live : "Because I'm Hannah's full-time carer my employment status isn't great so estate agents won't even touch me."
Renting plans were also squashed after the devoted brother failed to find a home with acceptable disability access.
Antoni, originally from Helston, came to the conclusion he would have to build a property himself.
But the dad has blasted Cornwall Council for taking too long to respond to his planning application - as his family continue to live in two former Coldplay tour buses.
COLDPLAY CRIB
Antoni even thinks they were the same buses in which band icon Chris Martin and glam ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow broke-up.
The buses have been kitted out with a boiler, hot water and heating - while couple's five children each have their own bedrooms.

They only pay £400 a month, while a suitable home for the clan would cost them an eye-watering £1,250 per month.
Antoni forked out a whopping £35,000 to buy and transform the buses.
They were forced to dip into money passed down in his mother's inheritance after she sadly passed away from a sudden brain aneurysm in 2019.
'It's disgraceful'
But, the family have now been hit by a fresh blow as the landlord they rent the land from has issued them a no-fault eviction notice.
The landlord has given Antoni permission to build his own home on a different parcel of land he owns in Redruth - providing he gets planning permission.
A frustrated Antoni said: "We don't need social housing help, I just want to build on this perfectly suitable land.
"It would save me £30,000 to £40,000 and the council won't have somebody like me kicking off to them.
"It's disgraceful that I can't do this."
He blasted the council for handing housing developers land for luxury homes.
"Who can afford that? Who can even afford a £200,000 house right now?," added the dad-of-five.
His application is to build an "affordable self-build property" that will have a Section 106 agreement, but Antoni claimed it hasn't been given the green light because he has been born and raised in the Helston area.
"Then I'm just trying to build a home for my family and I'm not allowed," he continued.
"I know so many people living in vans in laybys because there is nowhere to go."
The "furious" dad also spoke of struggling people moving back in with their parents.
Antoni has been fighting for planning permission since July last year and recons he's shelled out £12,000 in the process.
Cornwall Council rejected his first application, and the carer is waiting to hear back on the second.
Speaking about his sister Hannah, Antoni said she is one of the "most vulnerable" people in their county - but he feels the "council doesn't give a cr**."
"If I could just build a house for my family the council wouldn't have someone like me kicking off at them."
A Cornwall Council spokesperson said: “If anyone is threatened with homelessness, we will work with them to try and prevent that from happening.
"Under homelessness legislation the Council has a duty to provide temporary accommodation to certain households and we work with them on a Personalised Housing Plan."
The council added that they were sympathetic to people in the same position as Antoni amid "extreme and unprecedented pressures" on housing.

Glastonbury Festival organisers have finally unveiled their headliners for 2024 , after months of rumours and speculation.
Emily Eavis and her team announced on Thursday (14 March) that Dua Lipa , SZA and Coldplay would headline the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in June, while country-pop queen Shania Twain will take the coveted Legends’ Slot.
While many ticketowners are expressing excitement about the forthcoming sold-out festival , there is an air of disappointment due to the fact that many rumoured high-profile musicians – including Madonna, Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen – are absent from the line-up.
However, some of The Independent’s team believe that this is a premature reaction to what could be some of the greatest pop performances Glastonbury has ever seen.
Meanwhile, for fans who missed out on the general tickets sale in November, there are still ways to gain (legal) access into the festival, including the forthcoming resale and volunteering. Find out everything you need to know here.

What we know about the Moscow concert hall attack blamed on ISIS
I t was Friday evening in Moscow when gunmen burst into Crocus City Hall, an entertainment complex on the outskirts of Russia's capital, where a rock concert by the group Picnic was about to take place. Video showed at least four people opening fire in the building's foyer before entering the hall itself and continuing to shoot.
Russian authorities said the attackers then set fire to the hall using flammable liquid. Despite helicopters dropping water over the building, it took 10 hours to extinguish the flames.
The March 22 attack lasted about 20 minutes, and in that time, at least 137 people were killed and at least 60 others critically wounded, CBS News partner network BBC News reported. Here's what we know:
Who carried out the Moscow attack?
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, released a statement on Friday claiming responsibility for the attack. The terrorist group issued another statement the following day that cast the raid as part of ISIS' ongoing war on countries it claims are fighting against Islam.
In a first for ISIS, the statement released by the group's media propaganda operation attributed the attack to its Russia branch, which it had never identified as such. Previous attacks had been attributed to ISIS in the Caucasus, referring to a broader region that encompasses part of southern Russia, but also some other nations such as Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
A U.S. intelligence official told CBS News that American agencies had intelligence confirming ISIS was responsible, and said the U.S. had no reason to doubt the claims made by the group.
About 14 hours after reports of shooting began, Russia's Federal Security Service said 11 suspects had been arrested, four of whom it accused of being directly involved in the attack.
On March 24, four suspects between the ages of 19 and 32 — identified as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni and Muhammadsobir Fayzov — appeared in a Russian court showing signs of severe beatings . They were charged with acts of terrorism. Russia's state news agency said the four men were from Tajikistan.
There has been suspicion, despite the group's own claim that a domestic Russian branch of ISIS carried out the attack, that its Afghanistan division, ISIS-Khorasan or ISIS-K , was behind the carnage. That suspicion came largely due to warnings issued by the U.S. in the weeks ahead of the attack, and Russian officials claiming to have thwarted other operations planned by ISIS-K in Russia even more recently.
U.S. officials have not said which branch of ISIS they believe carried out the attack, but they have strongly refuted claims from Russian President Vladimir Putin that there may have been some involvement by Ukraine , a neighboring country that Russia invaded more than two years ago, sparking a full-scale, ongoing war.
Ukraine has also denied any involvement in the attack.
In addition to the previously unheard of Russia branch being named as the perpetrators, the Moscow attack also appeared to deviate from most ISIS assaults in that the terrorists fled the scene. Most violent attacks carried out by the group see their operatives fight arriving law enforcement personnel to the death, rather than being captured or fleeing.
What did the U.S. warn about in Russia?
The assault in Moscow came two weeks after the U.S. warned of a potential attack targeting large gatherings in the Russian capital. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow had publicly advised Americans to stay away from events, including concert venues, because of the potential for a terrorist attack.
The U.S. provided intelligence to Russia regarding the potential for an attack under the American intelligence community's "Duty to Warn" requirement.
"In early March, the U.S. government shared information with Russia about a planned terrorist attack in Moscow," National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said in a statement. "We also issued a public advisory to Americans in Russia on March 7. ISIS bears sole responsibility for this attack. There was no Ukrainian involvement whatsoever."
Last week, Putin dismissed the warnings, saying "recent provocative statements by a number of official Western structures about the possibility of terrorist attacks in Russia... resembles outright blackmail and an intention to intimidate and destabilize our society."
"ISIS bears sole responsibility for this attack," U.S. National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement. "There was no Ukrainian involvement whatsoever."
CBS News' Khaled Wassef and Tucker Reals contributed to this report.

And it was all … orange? Luton fans ask Coldplay for new Yellow lyrics
Band will play Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton in May and are being urged to sing club’s colour instead of rivals’
Luton Town fans have called for Coldplay to change the lyrics of their song Yellow to match the football club’s orange home kit.
The plea came after the band were confirmed as headliners for Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival taking place at Stockwood Park, a 10-minute drive from the club’s ground, Kenilworth Road, in May.
Local people want the band to put a Lutonian spin on their hit song from 2000, saying it would honour the club and fans. Luton play in orange, navy and white. Just down the M1, Luton’s rivals Watford play in yellow.
Bex Jones, a Luton resident, appealed to the band’s lead singer, Chris Martin: “Come on Chris, do it! You have to, you’re coming to Luton for one night only.”
Kev Harper, of the Luton Town supporters’ trust, said it would be an honour for the team and town if the band made the change.
“The crowd would love it,” he told the BBC, joking that Coldplay “should have called it Orange in the first place, it’s a superior colour”.
James Taylor, a borough councillor, said: “We’ve seen some of the world’s biggest football teams come to Kenilworth Road and have to adapt their style of play, so why not have the world’s biggest band come to Luton and change the words just for us?”
The song, from Coldplay’s debut album Parachutes, was a breakthrough hit internationally and reached No 4 on the UK singles chart.
It would not be the first time artists have altered their lyrics to fit a situation. This year Status Quo created another version of their 1977 hit Rockin’ All Over the World, titled Savings All Over the Store, in collaboration with M&S to promote the store’s value range.
Taylor Swift appeared to change the lyrics to one of her hit songs, Karma, to mention her partner, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, during a concert in Buenos Aires last year. Swift sang “karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me”, replacing the original lyrics “karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me”.

An attack Friday at a popular concert venue near Moscow killed 137 people, the deadliest act of terrorism the Russian capital region has seen in more than a decade.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack; American officials have attributed it to ISIS-K, a branch of the group.
Russian officials and state media have largely ignored ISIS’s claim of responsibility and instead suggested that Ukraine was behind the violence. Ukraine has denied any involvement, and American officials say there is no evidence connecting Kyiv to the attack.
Russian authorities have detained at least 11 people, including four migrant laborers described as Tajik citizens who have been charged with committing a terrorist act, but they have not identified most of the accused assailants or their motives.
Here’s a closer look at the attack.
What happened?
The gunmen entered the Crocus City Hall building, one of the biggest entertainment complexes in the Moscow area, with capacity of more than 6,000, shortly before a sold-out rock concert was scheduled to start. Armed with automatic rifles, they began shooting.
Using explosives and flammable liquids, Russian investigators said, they set the building ablaze, causing chaos as people began to run. The fire quickly engulfed more than a third of the building, spreading smoke and causing parts of the roof to collapse. Russia’s emergency service posted a video and pictures from after the fire showing charred seating and firefighters working to remove debris.
Russian law enforcement said that people had died from gunshot wounds and poisoning from the smoke.
At least three helicopters were dispatched to extinguish the fire or to try to rescue people from the roof. The firefighters were only able to contain the fire early on Saturday; the emergency service said it was mostly extinguished by 5 a.m.
The search for survivors ended on Saturday, as details about the victims began to emerge. Many of the more than 100 people injured in the attack were in critical condition.
Russia’s Investigative Committee, a top law-enforcement body, said on Sunday that 137 bodies had been recovered from the charred premises, including those of three children. It said that 62 victims had been identified so far and that genetic testing was underway to identify the rest.
Where are the assailants?
Attackers were able to flee the scene. Early on Saturday, the head of Russia’s top security agency, the F.S.B., said that 11 people had been detained in the connection to the attack, including “all four terrorists directly involved.” The four men were arraigned late Sunday and charged with committing a terrorist act, according to state and independent media outlets, and they face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The press service of the Basmanny District Court said that the first two defendants, Dalerjon B. Mirzoyev and Saidakrami M. Rachalbalizoda, had pleaded guilty to the charges.
It did not specify any plea from the other two — Muhammadsobir Z. Fayzov, a 19-year-old barber and the youngest of the men charged, and Shamsidin Fariduni, 25, a married factory worker with an 8-month-old baby — according to Mediazona, an independent news outlet.
The men looked severely battered and injured as they appeared in court, and videos of them being tortured and beaten while under interrogation circulated widely on Russian social media.
There were signs that Russia would try to pin blame on Ukraine, despite the claim of responsibility by the Islamic State. The F.S.B. said in a statement that the attack had been carefully planned and that the terrorists had tried to flee toward Ukraine.
How are Russians responding?
President Vladimir V. Putin, who claimed victory in a presidential election last weekend, did not publicly address the tragedy until Saturday afternoon. In a five-minute address to the nation, he appeared to be laying the groundwork to blame Ukraine for the attack, claiming that “the Ukrainian side” had “prepared a window” for the attackers to cross the border from Russia into Ukraine.
But he did not definitively assign blame, saying that those responsible would be punished, “whoever they may be, whoever may have sent them.”
The attack has punctured the sense of relative safety for Muscovites over the past decade, bringing back memories of attacks that shadowed life in the Russian capital in the 2000s.
Russia observed a national day of mourning on Sunday as questions lingered about the identities and motives of the perpetrators. Flags were lowered to half-staff at buildings across the country.
