Actually, Nusa Lembongan is one of my favorite places in the world and a must on any Bali itinerary . If you are limited on time, you can easily visit Nusa Lembongan on a day trip from Bali. The journey across the Badung Strait is super easy and takes only 30-45 minutes.

By fast boat, best time to visit nusa lembongan, how to get around on lembongan, jungut batu beach, snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding, mangrove forest, dream beach and devil’s tears, yellow bridge and nusa ceningan, what to bring on a day trip to nusa lembongan, best restaurants on nusa lembongan, can you go to nusa lembongan for a day, is it possible to go snorkeling on a day trip to nusa lembongan, how long do you need on nusa lembongan, how much does a day trip to nusa lembongan typically cost, is nusa lembongan cheaper than bali, can you do a day trip from nusa lembongan to nusa penida, final thoughts: the best day trip to nusa lembongan, remember to pin for later 😉, nusa lembongan day trip from bali.
If you want to do a day trip from Bali to Nusa Lembongan, you have two options. Book your own fast boat tickets and organize transportation once you get to Lembongan, or book a guided tour. To get the most out of your day I recommend you join a tour, however, I wanted to give you both options below.
Experience all the highlights of Nusa Lembongan in one day as part of this highly-rated all-inclusive tour departing from Bali.
A private driver will pick you up at your hotel in Bali between 7:00 and 8:00 am and take you to Sanur. From there you board a fast boat (only 30 minutes), and when you arrive in Lembongan your driver will be waiting for you.
The two most beautiful beaches on Nusa Lembongan, Dream Beach and Mahagiri Beach, are both included in the tour, in addition to the Devil’s Tear, the Mangrove Forest, the Yellow Bridge and a nice lunch.
Spend 7 incredible hours exploring one of my favorite islands in Indonesia without having to worry about a thing. Everything is taken care of for you.
Keep in mind that pick-up in Seminyak, Central Canggu, Central Ubud, Uluwatu, Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua is included in the tour price. If you are outside of these areas, you can contact the tour company to arrange transport at an additional cost or book your own driver.
Don’t let the name “Instagram tour” deter you, it only means you will see the most picturesque places on the island. I’m normally not an organized tour person, but I loved this one!

“What a great day!! A must-do when in Bali ❤️”
As mentioned earlier, the fast boat ride from Sanur in Bali to Nusa Lembongan takes only 30-45 minutes and is super affordable for everything that’s included. You can book your tickets in advance here .
Hotel pick-up and drop-off in certain areas in Bali (Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Ubud Center, Denpasar, Sanur) and on Nusa Lembongan are included in your return ticket. So all you have to do is be packed and ready to go in front of your hotel at the agreed-upon time.
There are many fast boat companies to choose from, I like to book through Viator so I get free cancellation and have the option to pay later. Paying online is also so much more convenient than having to bring cash.
Most companies depart Bali early in the morning, between 7:00 and 9:00 am, and return from Lembongan between 4:00 and 5:00 pm.

What to know before you visit Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons – dry and wet. The best time of the year to visit Nusa Lembongan and Indonesia, in general, is February to April (avoid Easter). That’s when everything is lush and green after the rainy season, while the weather is mostly clear and sunny.
The main rainy season runs from November to February, peaking in January, and the main tourist season runs from July to August and during Christmas. I have been to the island during these times as well and have had a great time, however, I prefer February to April.
The best time to surf Nusa Lembongan is during the dry season, which runs from April to September. This is when the waves are at their best due to consistent Indian Ocean swells and the weather is ideal for surfing with little rainfall and offshore winds.
Keep in mind that the boat ride from Bali to Lembongan, across the Badung Strait, can be bumpy during the wet season, with unpredictable weather and rough seas. But it is nothing compared to how bumpy the fast boat from Bali to Lombok can be.
Nusa Lembongan is a small island, and the best way to explore is on foot or by renting a scooter or bicycle. There are no cars allowed, only the vans transporting visitors from the fast boat to their hotels.
You will most likely be arriving in Jungut Batu, my favorite part of the island. If you want to stay here, you can easily explore on foot or by bicycle. If you want to explore the entire island, I recommend renting a scooter or a buggy if you’re traveling with your family.
Scooter rentals are available at various locations on the island, and the cost is around 75,000 IDR per day. Bicycles can be rented for around 50,000 IDR per day. Read more in my Nusa Lembongan transportation guide .
It is important to note that the roads on Nusa Lembongan can be narrow and bumpy, and there are no traffic lights and few signs. But don’t let that stop you. Driving around, feeling the sun on my skin and the wind in my hair, is my favorite thing to do on Nusa Lembongan.
One day in Nusa Lembongan
Jungut Batu Beach is the main beach on Nusa Lembongan and the perfect place to start your day trip. With its crystal-clear waters and white sand (though a little rough), it’s the ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés and beach clubs along the beach where you can grab some breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Make sure to take a walk along the Jungut Batu Boardwalk, the view from there with Bali’s Mt. Agung in the background is just breathtaking. If you go all the way to the end you’ll reach Coconut Beach, a little gem most people miss.
You can easily spend your whole day trip to Nusa Lembongan in Jungut Batu Village, in addition to lounging on the beach and feasting on tasty treats, you can also go stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling and surfing . There are also several boutiques along the main street where you can burn off some cash.
If you don’t feel like renting a scooter or bike, you can walk up to the Mangrove Forest where you can hang out at my “secret spot” in Lembongan, Agung Beach Club .
Nusa Lembongan is known for its incredible underwater world, and there are plenty of tour operators who offer day trips including snorkeling. I recommend this full-day snorkeling & Mangrove Forest tour departing from Bali.
The tour includes:
- English speaking guide
- Transportation to/from Sanur
- Speedboat to/from Lembongan Island
- Transportation on the island
- Snorkeling equipment
- Mangrove forest tour
🌟 Check price and availability here >> Full-day snorkeling & Mangrove Forest tour
If you go on a day trip to Lembongan on your own, you can easily rent snorkeling gear or maybe a stand-up paddleboard all over the island. Just look out for the many stakes in the water, left over from seagrass farming that was once the island’s main source of income.
As I mentioned above, Jungut Batu is a great place to go paddle boarding because the bay inside the reef is often very calm. Rent a board from one of the many warungs along the beach, they will often have signs outside. If not, just ask. The price for one hour is often 150.000 IDR. For snorkeling, make your way to the Mangrove Forest.
The Mangrove Forest, home to a variety of wildlife, including fish, birds, and crabs, is a must-visit attraction on Nusa Lembongan’s north coast. You can take a guided tour through the forest with a local who will eagerly explain everything there is to know about the mangroves. It’s a great way to support the local economy.
There are many warungs along the beach before you reach the Mangrove Forest, one more Instagrammable than the next. I wrote about my secret spot on Lembongan many years ago, and it looks even better today. Just take a look below.
You can spend your day at the warungs as long as you buy something to eat and drink. You can also rent snorkeling gear, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks.
If you do decide to rent a scooter or buggy, you have to make your way to Dream Beach, the most beautiful beach on Lembongan . With its crystal-clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand, it’s no wonder why it is such a popular spot. Just be careful when you go swimming, as the waves and currents are very powerful here.
If you have the time, stop by Devil’s Tears, a coastal formation named after the powerful waves that crash against the jagged rocks, creating a spectacular display of water sprays and mist. The waves are so strong that they create a thunderous sound that echoes throughout the area.
You can watch the waves from a safe distance on the rocky shore or from the nearby viewing platform. The view is particularly breathtaking during sunset when the sky turns into a vibrant hue of orange and pink, creating a magical atmosphere.
Finish your day trip with a stop at the Yellow Bridge, a unique and iconic landmark that connects Nusa Lembongan to its neighboring island, Nusa Ceningan. The bridge is painted bright yellow, making it a striking feature against the clear blue waters of the channel.
The bridge is a popular spot for tourists to take photos and admire the stunning view of the surrounding islands. The Yellow Bridge is also an important transportation route for locals, who use it to commute between the two islands. You can walk or drive across the bridge to explore the charming island of Nusa Ceningan, which is known for its cliffs, the Secret Beach , vibrant coral reefs and Le Pirate Beach Club .
I absolutely love to drive around the two islands and just see where I end up.
You don’t need to bring much on a day trip to Nusa Lembongan. If you have your swimsuit on, some sunscreen and your camera, you’re all set. Here’s a quick list:
- Sunscreen: With the tropical climate, the sun can be intense. I recommended you bring a water-resistant reef-safe sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect you skin from harmful UV rays.
- Swimwear: Nusa Lembongan is known for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters. Don’t forget to pack or wear your swimsuit so you’re ready for a refreshing dip in the ocean. I love this one .
- Towels: I always bring this Turkish cotton towel with me. It is perfect for a day at the beach, as a cover-up if I get sunburned and I have even used it as a yoga mat before on Lembongan.
- Water bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially when spending time in the sun. Bringing a reusable water bottle is an eco-friendly option and will save money on buying bottled water. Many cafés on Lembongan offer free refills.
- Cash: Many places on Nusa Lembongan do not accept credit cards, so it’s important to bring cash for purchases such as food, souvenirs, and activities. Also, there are only a few ATMs on Lembongan and I have experienced them running out of cash.
- Camera: With stunning views and picturesque landscapes, Nusa Lembongan is a photographer’s paradise. Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture memories of the trip. I used both my Olympus om-d em-5 and GoPro throughout the whole say.
🌟 LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle
My favorite bottle for travel, backpacking and hiking.
You can fill it up anywhere, LifeStraw filters bacteria, parasites, chemicals and microplastics.
For every Life Straw product purchased, a child in need receives safe water for an entire school year!
For such a small island, Nusa Lembongan offers a variety of dining options that cater to different tastes and budgets. From local warungs to international restaurants, you can find something to satisfy their cravings.
One of my favorite cafés for breakfast is B Fresh on the south side of Jungut Batu. I especially love their wholewheat waffles served with fruit and they also do a mean bacon and egg roll.
For lunch, I always stop by the Eco Deli, one of the OGs on the Lembongan restaurant scene. Here I always go for one of the salads and a piece of banana bread for dessert. If you’d rather take advantage of the stunning view from the Jungut Batu Boardwalk, you can’t go wrong with The Deck , yet another old-timer on Lembongan, and the Thai Pantry.
For dinner, I like to just walk along the beach to see which place looks the coziest. Check out my Nusa Lembongan restaurant guide for more suggestions.
FAQs: day trips to Nusa Lembongan

Day Trip to Nusa Lembongan from Bali
Located across the Badung Strait from Bali’s southeast coast, the tranquil island of Nusa Lembongan truly feels a world away from the bustling traffic and crowds of Bali’s beach areas. Only a 30 minute fast boat ride away from the town of Sanur, Nusa Lembongan is an ideal destination for a day trip and one of our top things to do in Bali with kids . Read on to learn more about planning a day trip to Nusa Lembongan from Bali, for a fun family adventure exploring the island’s stunning coastline and picturesque beaches.
Table of Contents
Fast Boat Cruise to Nusa Lembongan from Bali
It takes 30 minutes to travel by fast boat to Nusa Lembongan from Sanur, on Bali’s east coast. We booked tickets for a 10am departure with Rocky Fast Cruises , which I would highly recommend especially for families as I found them very helpful, professional and accommodating. Check-in is at the Rocky Fast Cruise office in Sanur and afterwards you are brought to the beach where the boat is anchored.
At the time, we paid for our tickets in person when we checked in, however, you can now save time by booking online in advance on the Rocky Fast Cruise website . There is no dock so you put your shoes in the large buckets and wade in the water a few feet from the shore to get onto the boat. The staff were very helpful giving an extra hand to parents carrying kids on and off the boat.
The boat is enclosed with windows and bench style seating and the life jackets (young children’s sizes included) are kept under the seats if required. At only 30 minutes, the ride goes by very quickly and soon enough, we were watching as the boat pulled into the gorgeous turquoise waters of Jungut Batu bay.
Jungut Batu Beach
The coastline of the village of Jungut Batu on Nusa Lembongan is lined with hotels and restaurants overlooking the stunning, crystal clear water.
Jungut Batu is one of the main arrival and departure points for boats at Nusa Lembongan. We came off the boat to a similar setup as Sanur, stepping into the water a few feet away from shore, retrieving our shoes and making our way to the row of offices along the beach to rent a golf buggy.
There are several shops selling fruit, drinks and snacks along the beach and sidewalk at Jungut Batu.
We stocked up on some bananas, peanuts and water at a small stand before renting a golf buggy to head south to visit some of Nusa Lembongan’s picturesque beaches.
How to Get Around Nusa Lembongan
There are no rental cars or taxis on Nusa Lembongan and the hilly terrain is not ideal for leisure cycling. Most people get around Nusa Lembongan on scooters or, for larger groups, on covered pickup trucks with a tour guide. For the three of us, hiring a golf buggy was the best solution to explore the island on our own.
Visitors can book an Island Buggy in advance for a full day hire with prices starting at 800,000 IDR – more details here . The offices to pick up the golf buggies are a short walk from where you will disembark from the fast boat at Jungut Batu beach. There is a steep hill heading out of Jungut Batu, so do keep that in mind and strap your bags down very well if you’re taking a golf cart!
Dream Beach Nusa Lembongan
Dream Beach is one of the most famous beaches on Nusa Lembongan and a popular area for surfing. There are several resorts and restaurants nearby, some perched on the dramatic limestone cliffs, overlooking the beautiful white sandy beach.
There’s a rocky coral floor and the surf is pretty strong at Dream Beach, so not an ideal swimming spot with young children, but it’s a beautiful spot to take in the view, watch the surfers and enjoy playing on the sand and along the shore.
Devil’s Tears
Devil’s Tears is a set of rocky, dramatic cliffs where huge waves crash against the sides, sending water spraying over the edge. The views at Devil’s Tears are stunning and it was amazing to watch the powerful waves crash against the cliffs.
Mushroom Beach
After checking out the island’s dramatic coastline, we headed back in the direction of Jungut Batu to spend the rest of our afternoon at the calmer waters of Mushroom Beach.
We had lunch at Hai’s Beach Bar & Grill which overlooks the beach – perfect for Little T to play while we waited for the food. The food was really good and overall I found the restaurant and resort to be a great place to take a break during our day of exploring.
Mushroom Beach is the calmest beach in the area for swimming and snorkelling with young children. There’s an area fit for swimming between one side of the beach with a very rocky floor and the other with boat traffic. Water shoes are must for swimming at Mushroom Beach to protect your feet from the broken coral pieces and rocky seafloor.
On the other side of Mushroom Beach are these amazing rock formations along the shore.
Fast Boat Cruise from Nusa Lembongan to Bali
After a wonderful day on Nusa Lembongan that went by way too quickly, we headed back to Jungut Batu to return the golf cart and take the 4.30pm fast boat back to Sanur. Little T chose a beautiful wooden turtle at a little souvenir shop next to the boat office which has been a lovely souvenir from our day trip to Nusa Lembongan.
As with the departure from Sanur, everything ran very efficiently with Rocky Fast Cruise and the staff were always helpful with the passengers getting on and and off the boat.
A storm was approaching that evening, so while the ride to Nusa Lembongan was relatively calm, we had rough seas heading back to Sanur. Remember to bring motion sickness tablets or wristbands if you suffer from sea sickness!
A day trip to Nusa Lembongan from Bali is an amazing experience, offering breath-taking scenery from calm, turquoise waters to rocky, dramatic cliffs. There are plenty of outdoor adventures and water activities for the whole family to enjoy around the island, including going out to the famous snorkelling or scuba diving sites and visiting the seaweed farms. I’d highly recommend making the trip out there to visit during a Bali family holiday .
Day Trip Nusa Lembongan Tips
The only ATM / cash machine on the island is at Jungut Batu, near the Segara Temple and only a few minutes away from the boat offices. I would, however, recommend arriving on the island with cash – the ATM has been known to run out of money halfway through the day and the queue was over half an hour long.
Another reason to bring cash: the credit card terminals aren’t very reliable and can take an extremely long time to process your debit/credit card after several attempts. To save yourself time, withdraw cash on Bali to bring on your trip.
Remember to pack along water shoes or other protective shoes for the beach. Mushroom Beach in particular is rocky and covered with small bits of coral along the shoreline.
[Updated December 2021] Rocky Fast Cruise departure times from Sanur are currently 10am and 1pm; return times from Lembongan are 11am and 4pm. Due to Covid-19, there is currently a reduced “pandemic” rate of 350000 IDR (approx US $25) for an adult return ticket and 100000 IDR (approx US $14) for a child return ticket. (Pre-Covid prices were typically US $50 per adult for return (US $30 for one way), children 3-11 years old US $30 for return ($20 one way) and children under 3 years old travel free.)
Prices include insurance and bottled water, as well as free pick up and drop off from the airport, Jimbaran, Kuta, Seminyak, Legian and Sanur. Other areas are quoted upon request. Up to date schedule, ticket prices and other details here.
You can also book a golf buggy in advance for a full day hire with prices starting at 800,000 IDR – more details here . Note that you cannot cross the suspension bridge between Nusa Lembongan and the nearby smaller island of Nusa Ceningan with the golf buggy – only scooters are allowed to cross that bridge.

Solo One Day Trip: Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan from Bali Indonesia
If you have never been to the Nusa Islands near Bali, then you’ll have to go on a day trip to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan . The small islands are known for their turquoise water and sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, tidal pools and a variety of water sports.
Since Nusa Lembongan is only 22km from Bali (or half an hour by fast boat), it is possible to spend a day on both islands and see all the best attractions and return to Bali at the end of the day.
In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to take a one day trip to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan from Bali.

Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan day trip from Bali: what you need to know
Before you take a day trip to the Nusa Islands, take a look at my post on everything you need to know before going to Bali . I included a lot of information, including how to get around Bali, how to get a prepaid SIM card and other essential Bali travel tips.
Here are few additional tips for taking a Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan day trip:
- To see everything in this day trip itinerary, you must get on the first fast boat at 9:30 am in Sanur and return to Bali on the last boat at 4:30 pm.
- When you arrive at the Sanur pier , park your scooter in the parking lot. It is safe to leave your scooter there even for a few days.
- The best way to explore the Nusa island is by scooter . You can rent one when you arrive at the pier on Nusa Lembongan.
- Bring enough cash for scooter rental and food for the day . I don’t recall seeing an ATM but I’m sure there is one. But bring enough just in case.
Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan day trip: what to bring
In order to have a successful day trip to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, make sure to bring some day trip essentials with you:
- a small backpack for all your belongings
- a pair of versatile shoes that you can swim with and hop back on the scooter
- quick dry clothing because you will be in and out of the water all day
- bathing suit for swimming the turquoise water
- small towel to dry off or to sit at the beach
- enough cash for scooter rental and food
- plenty of water for hot summer days
- lots of sunscreen to block all the UV rays while you are scootering around
- hat and sunglasses to further block any sun rays
How to get to Nusa Lembongan from Bali
There are many types of boats going to Nusa Lembongan from Sanur in Bali including luxury excursion boats, fast boats, public fast boats and slow public boats.
The best way to get to Nusa Lembongan for a day trip is to take a fast boat.
And most fast boat companies include pick-up and drop-off services . Pick up areas including South Bali, Ubud , Canggu and Uluwatu. And they will also drop you off at any hotel in Nusa Lembongan.
Fast boat from Bali to Nusa Lembongan
There are few fast boat companies and they are all along the beach in Sanur at the end of Jalan Hang Tuah. And the one I took was Scoot Cruise .
Scoot Cruise is a reliable boat company that can take you from Bali to Nusa Lembongan in their comfortable fast boats. You can book your ticket online or buy it in-person.
Below are details of the fast boat schedule and price :
- Sanur to Nusa Lembongan schedule: 9:30am, 11:45am, 2:00pm, 5:00pm
- Nusa Lembongan to Sanur schedule: 8:30am, 10:45am, 1:00pm, 4:30pm
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Price: one way (400K IDR), return (650K IDR)
For this one-day itinerary to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, get return tickets for the first fast boat at 9:30 am (Sanur to Lembongan) and and the last boat at 4:30 pm (Lembongan to Sanur). It will give you sufficient time to explore both islands.
How to get around Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan
The best way to get around both Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan is by a scooter . The roads are relatively narrow, i.e. the entire road is wide enough for one car and one scooter. But the road condition is fairly good. So even if you are a beginner, you shouldn’t have any issues with the scooter.
Scooter rental is about 80K IDR per day and it includes petrol . There are several scooter rentals by the pier at Jungutbatu Beach (i.e. where you were dropped off).
Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan day tour: map and summary
There are so many things to do on Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan but I picked the best of the best for this itinerary. I included all the attractions on the map below.
Here is a quick summary of what you will do on your day trip to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan:
- Mushroom Bay Beach on Nusa Lembongan
- Devil’s Tear
- Dream Beach
- Yellow Bridge connecting the Nusa Islands
- Blue Lagoon on Nusa Ceningan
- Secret Point Beach
- Jungutbatu Beach on Nusa Lembongan
1. Mushroom Bay Beach on Nusa Lembongan
Most fast boats (including Scoot Cruise) will arrive in Jungutbatu Beach. From the pier, rent a scooter and start making your way to Mushroom Bay Beach .
Soon enough you’ll arrive at the white sand and blue water beach . This beach is not as crowded as Jungutbatu Beach and it looks much nicer.
This is a good spot to take a quick morning break from all the travelling. Get a coconut from one of the cafes and restaurants on the beach.
2. Devil’s Tear on Nusa Lembongan
Next on the day trip agenda is one of the best attractions on Nusa Lembongan: the Devil’s Tear , a spot famous for its jagged coastline and natural tidal pools .
Take a walk along the edge and see how the rocky limestone walls are formed. And you’ll see big waves crashing on the shore and feel the small mists of seawater spraying into the air.
There are at least two natural tidal pools along the edge. I was watching people taking photos here and trying to capture a shot with the big waves splashing at the back . Some of them got pretty soak from the big splash, though.
The Devil’s Tear is a big tourist spot. You’ll see bus-loads of tourists being dropped off here. To avoid the crowd, walk further along the coastline since most people are so busy taking photos closest to the drop-off point.
3. Dream Beach on Nusa Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan has some of the most beautiful beaches in Indonesia and Dream Beach is no exception.
The beach is part of a small cove near Devil’s Tear. Dream Beach feels a bit more secluded and quieter . Only people staying at the hotels and resorts nearby visit this small beach.
There is a set of staircases going down to Dream Beach. And there are restaurants here too.
4. Yellow Bridge connecting the Nusa Islands
The only way to travel from Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Ceningan is to cross the famous Yellow Bridge , also known as “ The Bridge of Love “
The famous Yellow Bridge linking the Nusa Islands was damaged and collapsed in October 2016. It has since been rebuilt and it is better than ever. It doesn’t cost anything to cross the bridge.
You can park your scooter and walk on the Yellow Bridge to take photos before continuing on the day trip.
FYI – if you are taking a day trip to Nusa Penida from Nusa Lembongan, the boat ride starts from the north side of the Yellow Bridge on Nusa Lembongan.
5. Blue Lagoon on Nusa Ceningan
The next two highlights of the day tour are both on Nusa Ceningan. First, we’ll go directly to The Blue Lagoon , a rocky cove with the brightest blue water.
When you arrive at the Blue Lagoon, you are at the top edge of the cliff and see a panoramic view of the small cove with milky blue water . I’ve never seen seawater in that shade of blue; it is much brighter and more vibrant than the adjacent ocean water.
Most people will take photos along the cliff, but some people might want to jump into the Blue Lagoon. There are a few spots on the right side (when you are facing the lagoon) for cliff jumping . Whatever you decide to do, please be careful.
6. Secret Point Beach on Nusa Ceningan
You need to see one more beach before returning to Jungutbatu Beach and catching the last fast boat back to Bali. All you have to do is walk north for a few minutes and find Secret Point Beach .
At the top, you can see the entire Secret Point Beach including the shallow clear water, palm trees and beach huts lining the sandy beach . It is a lot more quieter than the Blue Lagoon that’s for sure.
7. Jungutbatu Beach on Nusa Lembongan
And finally, scoot back to Jungutbatu Beach where it all started.
Jungutbatu Beach is the longest beach in Nusa Lembongan . It wraps the western coast and to the north end of the island. Since the water is quite calm, it is an excellent spot for standup paddleboarding, swimming and snorkelling.
And from Jungutbatu Beach, you can even see Mount Agung on the island of Bali.
Depending on when you return to Jungutbatu Beach, it might be possible to get a Bintang (local beer) or late lunch at one of the cafes I included below . Just make sure you get back to the pier by 4:30 so you don’t miss your boat back to Bali!
If you are spending more than one day in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan
I included the best attractions on the Nusa Islands for my 1-day itinerary.
But if you are spending more than one day in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, there is so much more to discover on both Nusa Islands.
Here are a few suggestions if you are staying one or two more nights on the island:
- Snorkel at Mangrove Point – see coral reefs and over 250 species of tropical fish in northern Nusa Lembongan.
- Take a boat tour around Mangrove Forest – see the lush forest at the north end of Nusa Lembongan.
- Swim with manta rays and sea turtles – while snorkelling at several spots around Nusa Ceningan.
- Surf – there are three excellent surf breaks in Jungutbatu Bay.
- Learn how to dive – and visit legendary dive sites including Lembongan Bay, Blue Corner and Mangrove Point.
- Day trip to Nusa Penida – visit the largest Nusa Island and see Crystal Bay Beach, Broken Beach, Angel Billabong and the famous tyrannosaurus rex coastline by Kelingking Beach by either a self-guided tour (scooter or private car) or join a tour.
Where to stay in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan
My Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan day trip itinerary does not require an overnight stay. But if you like the slow pace of the Nusa Islands, then definitely stay a night or two.
Here are some suggestions on where to stay on both islands:
- Check for the current rate and reviews: Agoda
Where to eat in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan
There are several good warungs, cafes and restaurants around the Nusa Islands. Here are some suggestions:
- Pondok Baruna Warung ($) – The local restaurant serves the best Indonesian food at affordable prices. Try their grilled pork belly with rice and vegetables or chicken curry.
- Warung Oka ($) – The quaint little restaurant facing the water serves excellent seafood dishes. Their grilled red snapper comes with rice and vegetables. And their grilled prawns are pretty good too!
- Blue Corner Bar & Restaurant ($) – After a full day of exploring the Nusa Islands, spend the afternoon sipping drinks during happy hour at The Blue Corner Dive. Sit in one of the bean bags and people-watch while waiting for your ferry.
- Indiana Kenanga Restaurant ($$) – Have brunch or cocktail at this new Instagrammable oceanside restaurant on Jungutbatu Beach.
- The Deck Cafe & Bar ($$) – Sit at one of the tables facing the water and enjoy the best views of Nusa Lembongan. Food and drinks are slightly more expensive, but you have the best view of the island.

Are you taking a solo day trip to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan?
I love the small island vibe of the Nusa Islands compared to Bali. Bali is great, but when you are in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, you really get to slow down.
I hope you like my one-day itinerary. On a self-guided day trip, you can enjoy all the highlights of Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan. But if you are keen, stay for a few extra days to experience true island life.
Personally, I love the Nusa Islands. So much so that I included it in my 10-day Bali solo travel itinerary for first time travellers .

I didn’t realize Bali had some amazing places to check out nearby! I can’t wait to check them out for a different pace! One question, does Nusa mean something? All three of them started with Nusa!
Hi Angelica! I had to look it up lol Nusa means island. which makes sense as there are a few of those islands just off of Bali. I was quite surprise how nice the islands are and not super touristy either 🙂
Carly Matthew
This location sounds really cool. Was it a good way to escape the crowds? It sounds like there are a lot of awesome recreation opportunities.
Hi Carly! most definitely! it is so much quieter than parts of Bali and I was really ready for that at the time. The island vibe was exactly what I needed! 🙂
YES I LOVE THIS. I basically did this, but stayed for freakin’ ever on Lembongan because I didn’t want to leave, haha. I love this guide for if you didn’t have enough time to do that!
Hi Kaisa! I wish I stayed longer – I really like both islands and can just see myself chilling and hanging out on the swings with a fresh coconut lol
Kaley Lopez
Thanks for the tips! Only in Bali for 8 days and wanted to squeeze in a day trip. This looks like the perfect itinerary to spend the day exploring the two islands.

1 Double Six Beach
Vacation on the beach is never dull. One of them is to spend your time around Double Six Beach, Bali. This day out idea is suitable for those who want a beach atmosphere but still near the center of the crowd. While here, don't miss the sunset time, it's really beautiful! If you come before noon, you can have brunch first around Seminyak Area . There are many cozy and instagrammable cafes like Sisterfield, Principle, Kynd Community and so on. After that you can still shop or go straight to the beach. Order your cocktail and look forward to the stunning sun sets between the horizon lines.
2 Sekumpul Waterfall
Aside from beach, visiting waterfalls in Bali is also a must thing to do. One of the waterfalls visited by many tourists is the Sekumpul waterfall. Located in northern Bali, this stunning Waterfall is a scenic cluster of 6 to 7 narrow cascades that form the centerpiece of a lush green bamboo forested valley. Although it’s far, about 3 hours drive from Seminyak, the journey to the north can be mesmerizing too. On the way there, make sure to stop by at several other famous spots.
For instance, you can take some beautiful photos at Handara Gate that you will pass. This gate gives a beautiful and refreshing impression, like the door to a green valley. In fact, Handara Gate is an entrance to a golf resort. Another option, you can enjoy the beauty of Lake Beratan. Find the iconic scenery of Ulun Danu Temple with the lake as background. This day out is worth trying. To make it clearer, see our day trip to Sekumpul Waterfall!
3 Balangan Beach
When you miss dreamy beach atmosphere, come to Balangan Beach. The beach is beautiful and hidden, offering a romantic feel that is a favorite for couples. This white sand beach landscape is flanked by towering cliffs, adding to the impression of being secluded. The beautiful sunset is too beautiful to be missed.
Thus, as it is located in Ungasan, before coming to the beach, maybe you want to add some destinations by first visiting the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park or the Uluwatu Temple.
4 Tanah Lot
Another trip that you should consider is pay a visit to the iconic Tanah Lot Temple. This tourist destination offers pristine beaches with the beautiful waves hitting the rocks. The best time to come here is at sunset time, however if you want to avoid the crowds you can come in the morning. From Seminyak, you need only 60 minutes to get to this beautiful temple. This route crosses some beautiful natural scenery, so make sure you have a window seat to enjoy it. You can check the our day trips we offer here!

So, many people and tourists do the 'cleansing ceremony' here. To arrive at this temple, you will take about one and a half an hours drive from Seminyak. Now it's best to come here in the morning, so it's not too crowded.
