Different airlines have different policies and it will be important to check up on these before you fly and  travel with baby !  

As a general rule of the thumb though, the following applies:

• Is a diaper bag considered a carry on? Most airlines allow you to bring one carry on bag on to the flight.  They don't allow an additional bag for baby. You can however bring an extra bag for the food and nappies. More info later in the post.
• The carry on baby bag needs to be small enough to fit under the seat or in the overhead lockers. The size differs from airline to airline, but as a general guideline your bag should be around 14 x 9 x 22″.
• We have never had an issue with the size or weight of our best diaper travel bag. I think that airport staff are fairly considerate when they see that you will be flying with a baby!

One of the newest bag additions at Dagne Dover, I think the Lagos Convertible Duffel is worth every penny after testing in the lab and on a weekend trip. The modular design makes it easy to use the bag as a duffel, backpack, or tote so you’re essentially getting three bags in one — what’s not to love? My favorite parts of the bag are the backpack straps, which have their very own pockets so you’ll never have to worry about loose straps hanging off of the duffel. Plus, the crossbody strap is removable, too. 

I tested the medium size duffel with a 32-liter capacity and I was able to fit a week’s worth of clothing into the main compartment. While it might get slightly heavy to carry when packed full, I’m grateful for the multiple different ways to carry the bag for maximum comfort.

We did notice some slight creasing from where the bag folds down but the neoprene is still super durable and long-lasting.

Traveling with skincare and makeup can be difficult, but this protective neoprene toiletry bag is perfect for not only storing toiletries but ensuring their safety, too. Made with Dagne Dover’s signature neoprene, the material has a natural cushioning and water resistant properties. We tested the large version of the Hunter toiletry bag and loved that it has a spacious 3-liter capacity (though it’s also available in a 2-liter size ). The best part is that it comes with two small zippered pouches for storing makeup brushes or jewelry separately from the rest of the packed items. The interior has several elastic loops for securing lipsticks and a large slip pocket.

It’s the perfect size for storing valuables without feeling bulky.

The waist strap is only 36 inches at the longest length.

We’re doubling-down on how much we love the Ace Fanny Pack since both myself and T+L senior editor, Jasmine Grant, never travel without it. For storing wallets, phones, passports, earbuds, or any other travel essential, this fanny pack is the overall best pick after comparing it to 36 other options on the market. “As someone who still struggles to pack light (working on it) having something like a sling bag or a small purse really helps me keep my most important travel items within close reach,” Grant raved. As we’ve mentioned before, the neoprene material is thick enough to protect more fragile items like sunglasses despite being super lightweight. The material is also super durable, and even when we spilled coffee on the pack, the liquid beaded right off. I personally love wearing this pack as a crossbody bag with the adjustable strap, but it’s also comfortable to wear around the waist, too. The strap only adjusts to 36 inches long, though, so we do wish it was a little longer for body inclusivity purposes.

Don’t let its small size fool you — this bag has an 8-liter storage capacity so we were able to fit items like an iPad, lightweight sweater, and a water bottle with room to spare. This splurge-worthy backpack looks and feels premium, and I love that it looks elevated enough to replace a purse, so I’ve been able to go from sightseeing all day to a nice restaurant without having to switch bags.

Every domestic airline has a different standard for underseat carry-on sizing.
