Paradise Camp Snowcat Dinner Tour

Our family - parents and our two twenty something offspring - booked this Snowcat Dinner Tour for the last night of our very successful one week vacation at Silverstar. We loved everything else about our stay at Silverstar and this was a highlight. A very different way to experience going up the mountain and our tour guide inside the Sno Cat was very helpful ,friendly and knowledgeable. We are a family of "foodies" and the meal was excellent as was the service. I never made it inside the Paradise Camp during the ski day as it was always so busy but my son did and he said the place was transformed for the dinner experience! It was a unique and special way to end our family vacation. Bring your camera/phone for some unique pics outside. Dress in layers as well as you need warm clothing (just in case) but the snowcat and the restaurant can be quite warm,

Family friendly resort with The best powder skiing. If it's snowballs you are after you will be disappointed as the snow is so dry and powdery it is almost impossible to make decent snowballs. The ski runs range from easy and cruisy green runs for the beginner and steeper blue runs for the more experienced as some of these verge on easy blacks in places. If it is extreme you are after, head over to the backside and test your skills on the Double Black Diamonds, but be warned, these are damn dear vertical in places and moguls the size of small cars abound. If this is beyond your ability then stick to the front side and ski the easier black of "The Face" or even "Bon Diablo" on the back side. If skiing is your thing, then this is the place for you!

Amazing snow, great terrain, an adorable mini village full of cute shops and tasty restaurants plus a myriad of after-hour activities, you definitely don't want to miss out on Silverstar. We specifically loved the new glades and the tube park (not just for kids)! Can't wait to come back!

This mountain rocks! It has everything you could want. Having skiied a lot of places I am quite impressed with this mountain. Was visiting family in Vernon and went skiing 3 or the 5 days I was there. The snow was consistently good front and back even when there was no new snow. The grooming team on this mountain does an amazing job. We got one powder day and that was so epic! I sated on the backside day - loved the steep runs and fresh powder. I love that your ticket includes everything the mountain has to offer (tubing/cross-country/ice skating). LOVE that concept. Tubing was super fun and crazy fast and ice skating/family game of hockey on Christmas evening was great. We were able to watch the "torch run" and fireworks on the mountain - so cool! The village is big enough but small at the same time - I loved it. Can't wait to come back and do some more skiing!

The late night skating was magical experience with young children. The pond is very large, well maintained and great lighting (the tree looked amazing). Tubing was also great and although very busy the wait times where very quick. This is helped by having two tow lifts for the tubes to get up the mountain and four tin runs to get down. Best of all was the price as a day pass was only $23 for skating and tubing.

Travel: Ride the snow groomer to the mountaintop to eat and drink

  • Share by Email

This specially retrofitted PistenBully 400 snow groomer called the 'Paradise Express' takes people to the mountaintop for dinner at Paradise Camp.

We climb aboard the candy-apple-red PistenBully 400 snow groomer not to actually smooth out the white stuff, but to take an epic ride to the mountaintop for a gourmet wine-paired dinner.

You see, this specially retrofitted snow groomer is called 'Paradise Express' and is used to do something you can only do at a handful of ski resorts in the world. (There's a similar experience in Whistler).

The Paradise Camp Snowcat Dinner Tour shuttles hungry and thirsty tourists from the village at SilverStar Mountain Resort just outside of Vernon to Paradise Camp -- a distance of eight kilometres and a vertical gain of 760 metres.

Paradise Camp, at the top of Powder Gulch, is SilverStar's breakfast and lunch spot by day and a candle-lit snowcat dinner restaurant by night.

"This tour is unique and that's why people clamour to get on it," says Paradise Express driver Dean McAreavy.

"It's amazing that you can take a snowcat ride through this landscape to the top of a mountain to have dinner."

Yes, the landscape.

It's pitch black when my wife, Kerry, and I climb into the 15-passenger cab that's been added to the top of the rig especially for the snowcat dinner tours.

Excitement is building, the music is pumping over the sound system and a party-like atmosphere develops amongst the group.

The moonlight and Paradise Express' spotlights illuminate a scene of wide swaths of ski runs, snow-flocked evergreens and leafless poplars for a beautiful and otherworldly half-hour journey.

We then pile into woodstove-warmed Paradise Camp to devour our pre-ordered meals.

For Kerry and I that means shrimp cocktail with crisp Howling Bluff Pinot Gris from the Naramata Bench and slow-braised beef paired with big-and-bold Kettle Valley Syrah, also from the Naramata Bench, and decadent chocolate brownie a la mode for dessert.

Sated, the ride down is equally scenic and relaxing.

At the bottom, we disembark, say our goodbyes and head off into the night to our weekend accommodation -- Snowbird Lodge, right in the village centre.

Truly a one-of-a-kind alpine experience that also happens to incorporate Okanagan wines -- the perfect win-win scenario.

The Paradise Camp Snowcat Dinner Tour is $112 per person, plus the cost of wine.

Book at SkiSilverStar.com.

While SilverStar is a spectacular ski resort with seven metres of powder snow annually and 3,282 skiable acres serviced by 12 lifts, Kerry and I don't actually ski while we're there this weekend.

To work up an appetite for the Paradise Camp Snowcat Dinner, earlier in the day we snowshoed six kilometres on the Chakra Trail through hushed and surreal Douglas fir forest.

The second day at the resort is all indulgence -- breakfast of avocado toast at the Star's newest eatery, Chute 5; relaxing in our room at Snowbird Lodge; shopping in the village; lunch of Montreal poutine (with a glass of 50th Parallel Riesling) at The Den restaurant; couples massage at Elevate Spa; happy hour of 'Apres All Day' cocktails and glasses of Nichol Vineyard Pinot Gris from the Naramata Bench at Black Pine Social; and then dinner at new Italian resto D'Argento for gnocchi in arrabbiata sauce paired beautifully with a bottle of LaStella Fortissimo red wine.

Who knew wining and dining and pampering could be so tiring, but satisfying.

Paradise Camp Dinner- Snow Cat Tour

We celebrated our anniversary and took the Snow Cat Tour with Dinner at Paradise Camp at the top of the mountain. We had an amazing time, wonderful staff, great idea for something different to do! As a chef myself I find I have pretty high standards when dinning out and the meal at Paradise Camp was nothing short of fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, the service was wonderful, the drinks were great, and we met some really nice people. I highly recommend booking this for a date night! Plus riding in the massive Snow Cat to the top of the mountain was awesome!

paradise camp snowcat dinner tour

Came here 12 plus years ago - it was great then & is even better now. Fantastic snow, great runs with plenty of choice for all levels. Very safe, just can’t fault it. Plenty to do for all ages.

I cannot fault Silver Star Resort. I spent a lot of time at the resort many years ago and returned this year to find that they have maintained the charm and family friendly feel. The snow is always great and the terrain is awesone. A resort for everyone.

SilverStar is a wonderful ski resort, with exceptional snow quality and no crowds, even on the weekend as the nearest town, Vernon, is not particularly large and most of Kelowna (the largest city in Okanagan) goes to Big White. There are runs suitable for beginners through to expert with lots of long green and blue runs which suited us well. The mountain has a front side, which is generally easier and a back side which is where most of the black and double black are located. However, both sides have skiing at all levels including a very long blue and green run on the back. This is particularly important as on the rare occasions when there is poor visibility on one side, the other side is usually fine. This, in my view, is a significant advantage over Big White. The village is small and very pretty; there are very good restaurants and great coffee, cinnamon buns and hot chocolates. Included in the lift tickets are tubing and ice skating (you have to hire skates at a small cost). There is limited shopping and night life. The local market is reasonably well stocked and surprisingly not expensive but I would consider ordering some supplies from Vernon if you are staying a week or more. One of the main things that stood out to me was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The quality of boot and ski rentals and the instructors were equal to Whistler and better than anywhere else that we have been. A big shout out to Eddy in the ski rentals and George and Glenn, our family's instructors. This was the most enjoyable ski holiday we have ever had predominantly because of the combination of fantastic powder and brilliant staff (even better than Whistler!!). We are already planning our return next year

Silverstar offers great ski options for all levels of skiers. From wide green runs to challenging black runs. Long runs allow the whole family with differing levels to ski together. Ski instructors, Steve, Glen and Chris are professional, friendly and extremely patient. Quieter than Whistler with a more relaxed vibe. More family orientated, less for singles who want to party. Horse drawn sleigh rides with hot chocolate is good fun with younger children. Tubing included free with Silverstar ski pass. Eleveta Spa offering Aveda products. Ice skating on a lake. Very small grocery shop. Recommend that you do a big shop at Vernon before heading to the village. Numerous cafes and bakeries that are all good. Bugaboo, The Den, Red Antler, Long Johns, the Bulldog. Ski rental staff, shop staff, restaurant staff all very friendly and helpful. Silverstar, busy during the day. Very quiet at night.

Silverstar is an awesome ski resort. The snow was great when we went. The Front Side is great for beginners while the Back/Dark Side is great for advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. The good thing about Silverstar is that there is a green run off every lift so if you are a beginner you can see the whole mountain. The village is small but beautiful with great restaurants and shops. The My1Pass gives you access to a lot of other activities including cross country skiing, tubing and skating. The tubing was heaps of fun. Silverstar is a wonderful ski resort with a pretty village and lots of other activities available. I would definitely like to come back to Silverstar.

Paradise by the snowcat light

Like our facebook page, taking a gourmet dinner tour to the top of silver star’s darkside  , mark sissons.

VERNON, BC - As the falling snow swirls outside the snowcat window, ghostly shapes emerge from the pitch darkness of the steep mountainside – trees with their branches sagging under heavy loads of fresh fluffy powder. Riding in this converted 12-passenger snowcat groomer to the so-called Darkside of Silver Star Mountain Resort, I feel like an astronaut just descended from the mother ship to reconnoiter a frozen alien planet.

US friends: With the exchange rate in your favour, why not come and visit your neighbours in the great white north this winter? Explore winter deals and getaway packages at SilverStar Mountain resort.

Tonight, I’m among the first visitors of the season to enjoy Silver Star’s most intimate and out there experience – the Snow Cat Dinner Tour to Paradise Camp. Located at Putnam Creek on the back side of the mountain, this popular breakfast/lunch cabin at the top of the Powder Gulch lift thaws chilly skiers with hot refreshments by day. Then every Friday and Saturday night from mid-December until the end of ski season it morphs into an intimate, candlelit fine dining room offering gourmet four-course meals prepared by a Red Seal chef. All you have to do is catch the snow cat to get there.

Into the void

At 5:30 PM we set off for the half hour trek along Main Street Skyway to the camp. I get to sit up in the cab alongside our driver, Andrew, as he expertly plots our route across the pitch-black mountain amid near zero visibility. The heated enclosed cabin behind us contains three rows of comfortable padded seats, occupied on this inaugural voyage by a cheerful group of ‘locals’ up from nearby Armstrong to celebrate a birthday in high alpine style.

“It’s a pretty spectacular experience under moonlit skies,” says Andrew as he expertly steers us through the forest, scanning the trail for lynx and coyotes that occasionally make a nocturnal appearance. “But when it’s stormy like tonight, it really feels like an out-of-this-world adventure,” he adds.

Tonight’s odyssey has a decidedly delicious destination. As the lights of Paradise Camp first pierce the darkness, glowing like hurricane lamps to guide us home through this wintery white gale, my thoughts turn to dinner and I’m suddenly very hungry. I half expect Santa’s sleigh to be double parked outside the rustic wooden hut. Instead, the welcoming smiles of camp staff usher us into one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve ever had.

“There’s a real sense of camaraderie as you head up the dark mountain through a swirling snowstorm,” says Silver Star’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Marke Dickson, my host and dinner companion. “You embark as a bunch of strangers and by halfway up the mountain everyone’s sitting and chatting together, listening to Fleetwood Mac, while a snowstorm rages outside your window.”

The full meal deal

Hot cocoa shack by day, Paradise Camp undergoes a complete after-dark transformation into cozy fine dining room with candles and tablecloths. But theambience is just as welcoming and unpretentious. A good thing, because we’ve all arrived clad in snowboots, jeans, parkas and toques.

Our lantern lit dinner features an impressive menu and extensive selection of wine pairings featuring top Okanagan wines. Cocktails and specialty martinis are also available. I choose the signature Paradise Camp cocktail, a homespun variation on Irish coffee and a perfect warm up for what’s to come.  The starter menu features savoury temptations like roasted butternut bisque, rosemary ricotta crostini, creole crab cakes and Mexican cream, tequila and chipotle drunken shrimp. Lured by the promise of instant warmth, Marke and I both opt for the roasted butternut bisque.

How this talented crew manages to extract haute cuisine from this archaic, bare bones open kitchen is beyond me. But I’m immensely happy that they can. For the main course, I’m spoiled for choice with dishes like pecan crusted bourbon glazed chicken supreme, pan seared Pacific salmon, spinach and gruyere gnocchi and warm roasted butternut squash salad. I opt for the herb encrusted beef tenderloin served with creamy potato mash, jewelled veggies and red onion marmalade. And it doesn’t disappoint.  Marke tells me that the chef imported many of his culinary secrets from his native New Zealand. Pure Kiwi genius.

On a clear moonlit mountain evening I’m told there are superb views of the Monashees from this high-altitude bistro. Tonight, the champagne fluffy stuff is still falling hard enough outside to make any powder hound salivate with first tracks anticipation. That’s just fine with me. By the time my decadently large slice of chocolate cheesecake arrives I’m already wondering how I’m going to fit myself into my ski pants. Good thing I didn’t succumb to plan B, the turtle pie cheesecake topped with pecans and caramel.

On the way back to Snowbird Lodge aboard the Paradise Express through Silver Star’s woods, lovely, dark and deep, I think of the old adage that it’s the journey, not the destination that really matters. When it comes to the Snow Cat Dinner Tour to Paradise Camp, I’d say it’s just about even.

Tiara Yachts 43 LS: 2024 Boat Buyers Guide

  • December 15, 2023

Family owned and operated since its founding, Tiara Yachts proudly proclaims that its boats are American-made, noting that many often outsourced facets of boatbuilding, such as cabinetmaking, wiring, varnishing and upholstering, are done completely in-house at Tiara.

After nearly 50 years in the business, Leon Slikkers and his sons formed Tiara Powerboats in 1976 in Holland, Michigan.

Originally exclusively inboard-powered, Tiara added outboard-equipped Luxury Sport, Luxury Crossover and Luxury Express series, now powered by Mercury. All carry transferable limited warranties of five years on hull and deck, with two years on accessories.

Tiara Yachts 43 LS

Multiple social zones, generous and ample seating, and refined yacht aesthetics provide comfort for everyone aboard Tiara’s 43 LS. But thanks to a new cockpit fishing-module option, the center-console dayboat boasts plenty of hardcore fishing potential too.

That module includes a 104-quart coil-wrapped freezer tank and a 30-gallon livewell; four aft rod holders and two rod/cup holders each in port and starboard gunwales; a work surface with a sink, a cutting board and storage; storage boxes with tool holders; and a fold-down aft seat with a backrest. Pop-up lights and speakers are also part of the package. Optional rocket launchers at the back edge of the hardtop and TACO Marine Grand Slam outriggers further boost fishability.

The 43 LS’ molded fiberglass hardtop has an integrated visor and fiberglass aft supports, a tempered curved windshield and side glass. Skylights admit light; a sunscreen with shade keeps it at bay.

In the bow is wraparound seating atop storage, a forward-facing chaise longue with a raising footrest, and port and starboard side tables with drink holders. Below are accommodations for four, including a full berth and folding midcabin second berth, storage and a hanging locker, a microwave, air conditioning, and a TV.

Available options include a Seakeeper 6 gyrostabilizer, an all-chain windlass with a remote at helm, an ice maker, synthetic teak decking, a forward sunshade, and an enclosure with side and drop curtains.

Editor’s Tip

With or without the cockpit fishing-pod option, the Tiara 43 LS features a beefy inward-opening side door on the starboard side of the cockpit. It eases boarding from the floating docks, but also allows offshore anglers to slide aboard big fish like a tuna or swordfish. -Jim Hendricks, Staff Editor, Boating and Fishing Group

Russell 2000, bitcoin usd, cmc crypto 200, tiara yachts sees sales success at the miami international boat show.

The boat maker sold 21 units at the world’s largest boat show

HOLLAND, Mich., March 05, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tiara Yachts , a family-owned manufacturer of American-made luxury watercrafts, reported another year of positive sales today following the 2024 Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) earlier this month. The company exceeded its goals by selling 21 units, a 10% increase compared to 2023.

“The energy at Miami this year was excellent,” said Sue Kane, Tiara’s Director of Sales. “The excitement about our products was evident from day one, and the performance at the show by our team was phenomenal. This set the stage for a great week and our best sales performance at MIBS in recent years.”

Tiara’s MIBS presence was anchored by the debut of the all-new EX 54, the second model in the EX series following the EX 60. Also featured were several highly sought-after outboard models spanning from 34 to 48 feet from Tiara’s Luxury Express (LE), Luxury Sport (LS), and Luxury Crossover (LX) lines, including the 48 LE, 48 LS, 43 LS, 38 LS 34 LS and 34 LX. In addition, recently added Fishing Modules and Equipment packages were on display.

“We look forward to MIBS every year,” said Tom Slikkers, CEO and President of Tiara Yachts. “This year, it was particularly exciting as we not only celebrated the debut of our new EX 54 but also kicked off our 50th anniversary on February 18. Based on what we saw and heard from customers and dealers alike, we could not be more excited about what lies ahead for our company.”

During the show, Tiara Yachts announced interior and exterior enhancements coming to its 43 LE, earned the 2023 Marine Industry Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the 16th consecutive year and celebrated its 50th anniversary on the final day of the show, Sunday, February 18.

Customers can next view Tiara Yachts’ vessels at the Palm Beach International Boat Show from March 21-24; Tiara’s display will be located between Ramp 7 and 8.

Sights of Elektrostal, Moscow region

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.

Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.

attractions elektrostal photo

The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.

Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".

You can learn about the sights of Elektrostal with descriptions and photos here. There are places for walking, outdoor activities and cultural development.

sights of the electric steel of the Moscow region

Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.

Elektrostal attractions photo with description

Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. The bronze sculpture is installed on the site where once stood a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V. I. Lenin. Times change, characters change. Today, the plant, founded a century ago, is the largest in Russia. Vtorov himself, whose fortune was estimated at 60 million rubles in gold, according to Forbes magazine, was the owner of the largest capital at the beginning of the century. He was a banker, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, a man of action.

The monument was erected byinitiative of the townspeople who wished to perpetuate the monument to the great man.

One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.

Elektrostal attractions

Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.

One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.

There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.

In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.

There are sections for children who go in for hockey or figure skating. Citizens come here with their families to cheer for their favorite team or go ice skating.

Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. Almost 4 thousand of them did not return from the battle. To these heroesdedicated to the memorial complex with the inextinguishable Eternal Flame, opened in 1968

But the electricians took part in the war in Afghanistan and Chechnya. By decision of the city authorities, their memory is also immortalized in the memorial complex.

It has become a good tradition for newlyweds to lay flowers at this monument.

attractions of the city of Elektrostal

In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.

Elektrostal attractions

Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.

Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.

Variety of runs of different levels. Interesting black runs. Easy and interesting glades skiing. Lots of ski in, ski out. Ice skating, Nordic. Great family accommodation in houses.

How To Get Into the Holiday Spirit at Silver Star

  • Show previous slide
  • Show next slide

Merry? Check. Bright? Check. When it comes to the holidays, Silver Star may just surpass the North Pole as the most festive place to spend them. Our elves have been organizing seasonal fun for all ages: events, Christmas markets and crafts, sparkling lights, delicious treats, and special surprises. Come spend the most wonderful time of the year at the merriest place in the North Okanagan.

Twinkling Lights in the Village

Lights, fire, action! The annual Light Up celebration is a community tradition that kicks off winter with an illuminating and festive light display. This year’s dazzling event features fireworks, fire dancers, a Christmas market and roaming entertainment throughout the village. New this year , there will also be special visits from holiday elves, Bonhomme, the Grinch and of course from the man in red himself!

Paradise Camp Snow Cat Dinner

Elevate your winter adventure with a one-of-a-kind mountaintop dining experience. Climb aboard the Paradise Express snow cat and make your way to the Putnam Creek area, where the cozy Paradise Camp hut awaits. The Monashee Mountains are a spectacular backdrop to this lantern-lit, three-course dinner with wine pairings.

12 Days of Holidays Prize Giveaways

Get into the Christmas spirit with the 12 Days of Holidays from December 21 to New Years Day. SilverStar elves will be surprising (and delighting) guests both virtually and in-resort with prizes. Follow SilverStar social media to see where the elves are next.

Festive and Fun Night Skiing

The slopes of SilverStar Mountain Resort glow brighter than Rudolph’s nose, when night skiing and holiday cheer are on the agenda. Make it extra festive by loading up on candy and dressing on-theme (think: elves, Santa, Mrs. Claus, reindeer, and ugly sweaters). Be sure to look out for Santa and the SilverStar elves—you might just get a fun surprise for dressing up.

Nordic Skiing and Fondue Adventure

Make Nordic Skiing a new winter tradition. Pack a bag with extra layers, headlamps, drinks, and a fondue set-up, then hit the cross-country trails in search of a cozy cabin. Silver Star’s interconnected 105-kilometre (64-mile ) network of XC trails are dotted by three warming huts, each with its own character and charm. Mountain View and Black Prince cabins can be accessed via the Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre trail system, while Chaptik is located on SilverStar Mountain Resort trails.

Holiday Craft Nights

Deck the halls of your Silver Star holiday home with a special festive piece created at the SilverStar Christmas Craft Nights (spots are limited) throughout the holiday season.

Give a Silver Star-Inspired Gift

Make your list and check it twice, then share your passion for Silver Star with loved ones by gifting local adventures and artisan goods—you might even find something for yourself too. Looking for some gift giving inspiration? Here are a few gift ideas:

7 Restaurants You Can Only Access By Snowcat or Skis

Aspen, Colorado

Great food? Check. Incredible views? Check. Easy access? Well... you'll have to work a bit for it. These seven back-country restaurants require patrons to board a snowcat or step into a pair of skis -- but the effort will be totally worth it.

Alpino Vino, Telluride Ski Resort (Colorado) You can ski in for lunch, but if you want to enjoy dinner at the highest fine-dining restaurant in North America , at nearly 12,000 feet, you’ll have to take a snowcat to the top of Gold Hill. Opt for the Italian-themed, five-course tasting menu for a true gourmet experience. $125, plus an additional $60 for wine pairing.

The Montana Dinner Yurt, Big Sky Resort (Montana) Two enclosed snowcats, Betsy and Dolly, transport diners from the Summit Hotel at Big Sky Resort to the edge of Lone Peak for a multi-course meal of French onion soup, filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, and Toblerone fondue. The feast is followed by stargazing and sledding, and while the yurt restaurant does not serve alcohol, you can bring your own. $97 .

Cloud Nine Bistro, Aspen Snowmass (Colorado) Aspen Snowmass offers two restaurants accessible only by snowcat in the evenings. Cloud Nine Bistro is the more upscale of the two and includes a mug of Gluhwein before the climb to nearly 11,000 feet. We like to score a seat near the wood-burning fireplace ($135, beverages not included). Lynn Britt Cabin is a family-friendly, four-course meal with live entertainment. $135 at Cloud Nine Bistro; $99 at Britt Cabin; alcohol not included .

Parallax, Mammoth Mountain (California) You know you’re in for an elegant evening when you're greeted at Mammoth Mountain Inn with a glass of champagne. A short snowcat ride takes you to Parallax at 9,600 feet where you’ll enjoy a four-course dinner of seasonal fare. $99 .

Beano’s Cabin, Beaver Creek Mountain (Colorado) Beaver Creek Mountain also has two restaurants that are only accessible in the evenings by an open-air sleigh pulled by a snowcat. Beano’s Cabin  -- named for the man who once farmed lettuce here, Frank “Beano” Bienkowski -- serves hearty dishes like venison, lamb, and beef tenderloin. Honoring late deputy sheriff Zach Allen, Zach’s Cabin  A Wine Spectator award-winning restaurant. $155 for fixed price menu at Beano's Cabin; prices vary, but expect to pay $75 to $100 per person, plus a $5 ride fee, at Zach's Cabin.

Paradise Camp, Silver Star Mountain Resort  ( British Columbia) During the day, Paradise Camp warms skiers with hot beverages and hearty breakfasts and lunches, but on Friday and Saturday nights, the rustic cabin at Silver Star Mountain Resort becomes a fine dining establishment lit by candles and lanterns. Snowcats depart for the restaurant near the Powder Gulch lift at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., or you can opt to ride a snowmobile there, instead ($224).  $79 for a 3-course meal, alcohol not included.

Tennessee Pass Cookhouse, Tennessee Pass Nordic Center (Colorado) The only way to get to the off-the-grid at  Tennessee Pass Cookhouse  is to ski to it. Your evening begins at 5:30 p.m. at Tennessee Pass Nordic Center , where you’ll receive Nordic skis or snowshoes and a headlamp. From there, you trek to the yurt to dine on the likes of grilled elk tenderloin, rack of lamb, stuffed chicken, or salmon. After dinner, don your skis or snowshoes, flip on the headlamp, and head back to the Nordic Center. (All right, if you simply really can’t walk or ski, other transportation can be arranged -- but what's the fun in that?) $85, alcohol not included.
