In a new promo video for its farewell tour, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler tells The Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson he’s having “second thoughts” about the Peace Out run.

Earlier this month, the four-time Grammy award-winning and diamond-certified rock legends announced details of its final live shows , on which it will celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band.

The new video promoting the tour finds Tyler sharing his doubts about the dates – not about hanging up his touring boots, but the name of the tour. A golden phone adorned by the wings from Aerosmith’s logo is delivered to Robinson’s house, with Tyler on the other end when he picks it up.

‘War’: U2’s Declaration Of Intent With Third Album Statement

“I know you know this tour is gonna be the stupidest, craziest thing ever, but I’m not so sure about Peace Out,” the star tells his fellow musician, whose band will open for Aerosmith. “I think we should call this tour LSD – lead singer disorder.”

Steven Tyler lets Chris Robinson know he is having second thoughts about “Peace Out”!

Tyler continues to spitball new tour name ideas, including Wings Across America , Feathered Feast For The 10-Headed Beast , Trial And Terror , Aeroswiss Family Robinson , and more. “I need to hear you come up with a few,” he tells Robinson in the end. “There’s a f_____g writers’ strike – you expect me to come up with all of these on my own?”

The Peace Out tour will kick off on September 2 in Philadelphia, PA, continuing for 40 dates across North America. It will include stops in iconic arenas such as Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, New York’s Madison Square Garden, Austin’s Moody Center, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, Chicago’s United Center, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, and more before wrapping in Montreal, QC at Bell Centre on January 26. On New Year’s Eve, the band will ring in 2024 with a special hometown show in Boston, MA.

Tickets for the tour are on sale now – find more details and purchase here . The tour follows Aerosmith recently completing its critically-acclaimed Las Vegas residency , Aerosmith: Deuces Are Wild, at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Before the residency began, the band also delivered a record-breaking one-off show at Boston’s Fenway Park . With over 38,700 people in attendance, it was the most tickets sold to date for a show at the legendary venue.

About Aerosmith

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million albums around the world, produced genre-defining music videos such as “Amazing,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Livin’ On The Edge,” and “Love In An Elevator,” and launched extravagant record-shattering global tours, most recently with their smash hit Las Vegas residency. The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on “Walk This Way” and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. About The Black Crowes

In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker . Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do

Last month, guitarist Joe Perry told Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's 102.3 WBAB radio station that it was unlikely AEROSMITH 's upcoming tour would feature the return of Kramer , who announced in March 2022 that he would sit out the band's concerts last year so he could "focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times." Perry said: "That's probably one of the hardest things. I've gotta say drumming is probably one of the most athletic parts of playing in a band. So it's really hard. It's been mostly because he just physically [has been] just beating himself up over the last 50 years. So I don't know. I mean, he's still officially a member of the band, but I don't think he's gonna be sitting behind the drums, at least for this next run. Other than that, I really can't say."

Elsewhere in the 102.3 WBAB chat, Joe talked about the likelihood of new music from AEROSMITH . The legendary Boston rockers haven't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!" That effort was released when AEROSMITH 's label, Columbia Records , was reportedly going through a leadership change, and it ended up becoming a commercial disappointment.

"At this point, I can't say," Joe said about the prospect of a new AEROSMITH song or album. "I really don't know. But I know that we have a pile of material that hasn't been released. So I think we're focusing on that right now. But the main thing is just getting this tour up and running."

For the past year, AEROSMITH 's longtime drum tech John Douglas has been filling in on drums for Kramer , whose wife, Linda Gail Kramer , died last June at the age of 55. No cause of death has been revealed.

AEROSMITH played its first concert in more than two and a half years on September 4, 2022 in Bangor, Maine.

Prior to the show at Maine Savings Amphitheater, the band's last live performance took place in February 2020 in Las Vegas as part of AEROSMITH 's "Deuces Are Wild" residency.

In May 2022, AEROSMITH announced that singer Steven Tyler had entered a treatment program following a relapse, prompting the band to put their Las Vegas residency on a temporary hold.

Tyler had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the course of the last four decades, he had relapsed several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009.

Joey has had his own health difficulties in recent years. Kramer suffered a health scare back in 2014, which was initially reported to be "heart-related complications".

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Aerosmith is one of the best things to come out of Boston, and soon it will exist only in memories and playbacks — like Tom Brady, “Cheers” and Larry Bird.

The quintet has given the world 50 years of classic rock and some of the most enduring songs of all time, including “Dream On,” “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion.”

Aerosmith began its farewell “Peace Out” tour Saturday in Philadelphia with a two-hour set spanning its voluminous catalog — giving the world one last chance to see what earned these skinny guys from New England an exalted place in the pantheon of rock’s all-time greats.

Singer Steven Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, and bassist Tom Hamilton all wore black cowboy hats as they ripped into “Back In The Saddle,” the song that has opened Aerosmith shows for decades as a giant Aerosmith logo folded down from the rafters, flanked by an even bigger set of wings.

Tyler and Perry sang from either side of a microphone stand draped in Tyler’s trademark scarves, recreating one of rock’s most iconic poses. Tyler nailed the extreme high note at the end of the song, proving that even at age 75 and after a life filled with pharmaceutical misadventures, he can still bring it.

“Love In an Elevator” and “Cryin’,” two major radio hits from the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, followed, setting up the band’s controversial hit “Janie’s Got A Gun,” a song about a girl who was sexually abused by her father.

The band also tossed fans some rare chestnuts like “No More, No More,” on which Tyler forgot several of the words; “Adam’s Apple,” “Seasons Of Wither” and the Mississippi Delta blues-inspired “Hangman Jury.”

But there’s only room for so many songs in a two-hour show, and with a catalog as deep as Aerosmith’s, some of the biggest hits got cut, including “Dude (Looks Like A Lady)” and “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” which often closed the show on previous tours.

That Aerosmith even played Philadelphia is amazing, given its fans’ history of injuring band members. In Oct. 1977, someone threw an M80 explosive onstage that went off in Tyler’s face, burning his cornea and opening a bloody wound on Perry’s arm. A year later, at another Philadelphia show, someone threw a bottle that shattered against an onstage speaker, sending glass shards into Tyler’s face and mouth.

Tyler referenced those assaults during Saturday’s show, recalling them as “the big bang theory” before Perry shushed him. Tyler quickly changed the subject to the fact that his mother’s family came from Philadelphia.

Saturday’s show was the 40th that Aerosmith has played in the City of Brotherly Love, and ended without anyone needing paramedics.

There were the typical opening-night glitches. Tyler started singing the chorus of “Dream On” a verse too soon before catching himself. Perry’s guitar died a few notes into the iconic opening riff to “Walk This Way.” And after a masterful harmonica solo on “Hangman Jury,” Tyler tossed the small instrument backwards over his shoulder, only to realize he’d need it again at the end of the song. A roadie was summoned to hand it back to him.

But so much more went right than went wrong, and it’s been that way for decades at Aerosmith concerts. Perry was positively brilliant on vocals and guitar during a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s 1968 three-chord blues jam “Stop Messin’ Round,” during which he and Whitford traded solos, and Tyler gave the harmonica another workout.

Perry even played a guitar that the wife of the late guitar legend Jeff Beck gave him — keeping Beck’s presence onstage for a bit longer — and “Rats In The Cellar,” a song about the filthy environs of drug use in New York in the 1970s, was as hard, fast and tight as it ever was.

Drummer Joey Kramer opted out of the farewell tour “to focus his full attention on his family and health,” according to the band. John Douglas, a drummer, artist and drum kit customizer for acts including Van Halen, ZZ Top and Guns ‘N’ Roses, filled in admirably.

Bassist Tom Hamilton got a huge ovation while playing the opening notes of “Sweet Emotion,” possibly the most famous bass intro to a song in rock history. And a giant elephant, frog, gnome and teddy bear descended from the ceiling on “Toys In The Attic.”

“Walk This Way” was a huge worldwide hit for more than a decade, before taking on added significance in 1986 when rap group Run-D.M.C. teamed up with Aerosmith on a version of the song that is widely credited with helping break down the barriers that had separated fans of rock and rap. (In case the significance of the breakthrough was lost on anyone, the video for the collaboration shows the two acts literally kicking down a wall that separated them in adjacent recording studios, and finally playing together.)

During the song’s performance to close the show Saturday night, confetti and streamers cascaded down from the ceiling; Tyler grabbed a piece of confetti from the air and ate it.

The opening act, The Black Crowes, presumably had a lead singer onstage. But vocalist Chris Robinson was so thoroughly drowned out by his brother Rich’s guitar for most of their hour-long set that it was hard to tell. I’ve got a remedy: turn the guitars down and turn the vocals up. That shouldn’t be too hard to handle.

Aerosmith’s original tour van restored to its former glory for US TV show

Aerosmith's banged-up tour van that was discovered abandoned in woods last year is returned to the band for their Las Vegas residency

aerosmith tour commercial

In August last year, Aerosmith’s original tour bus was discovered abandoned in woods 110 miles west of Boston .

It was found by Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, the hosts of  American Pickers , a reality TV series shown on The History Channel.

The pair and their team set about restorong the 1964 International Harvester Metro van to its original glory – and, with the project now complete, they've handed the keys back to Aerosmith in the latest episode of the show.

A trailer for Aerosmith Gets Back in the Saddle can be seen below, and shows Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford reminisce about their days cooped up in the vehicle as they travelled from town to town.

Drummer Kramer says: “We spent a lot of time and hours travelling in this box, and it looks and feels the same.”

Guitarist Perry adds: “I can’t remember a time when we were left stuck – it always ran. We all lived together and were doing our thing.”

As for their plans for the van, Aerosmith say they’d like to incorporate it into their Las Vegas residency and eventually park it for ever at The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Aerosmith's next shows at the Park Theater at the new Park MGM resort in Vegas will take place in September.

Aerosmith aims to resume farewell tour by summer or fall of 2024, Joe Perry says

N ew Year’s Eve is going to be a tough one for guitarist Joe Perry of Aerosmith. “We’re so bummed we missed our New Year’s Eve show,” he says. The band was due to bring its “Peace Out: Farewell Tour” to TD Garden Sunday night but had to cancel multiple dates shortly after they went back on the road because of a serious vocal cord and larynx injury to singer Steven Tyler.

“But with any luck we will be back out late summer and fall of 24,” Perry added more hopefully in a text. “And there’s always next New Year’s Eve! Stay tuned for that.”

Instead, Aerosmith has been actively working on its catalog. “We have a ton of unreleased material coming out over the next year and a half with remixes and alternate takes,” he said. A high point will be the release of the band’s acclaimed 1973 concert at Paul’s Mall , a bygone basement club on Boylston Street. The show was broadcast by rock station WBCN two months after the band released its debut album, and Perry has always maintained it was an important sign of their development.

Aerosmith will also release a video of its 1976 Pontiac Silverdome show . “There were 80,000 people indoors,” he said, calling the venue “the first of the mega-superdomes.”

The band also notched a couple of recent achievements. One is that “Aerosmith is now the only other band to have a top 10 single in every decade of our career besides the Beatles,” said Perry. The other is that their early hit “Dream On” just passed a billion streams on Spotify .

“That knocked us back on our heels, I’ll tell ya. I talked to Steven who was freaking out about writing that riff four years before he even joined the band. . . . And all I could think about was taking my first guitar — a Sears $12 acoustic — out of the box when I was 11 or so. And now over a billion fans hear my guitar at the beginning of the song. Who would have thought that?”

Joe Perry (left) and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith perform at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Sept. 2, the first date of the band's farewell tour, which was postponed weeks later due to Tyler's serious vocal cord and larynx injury.

Aerosmith's Joe Perry (L) and Steven Tyler jam out mid-concert.

Update: All shows have been postponed to 2024 due to Steven Tyler’s damaged vocal cords and fractured larynx. New dates will be added once announced.

We’ve got important news for Aerosmith fans that “don’t want to miss a thing.”

Following Steven Tyler’s sustained vocal injury at a Sept. 9 concert in Long Island, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers officially announced rescheduled tour dates for six shows on their ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour.’

“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler shared on Instagram . “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

The new show dates will take place in late January and early February 2024.

According to the band’s Instagram account, “All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates” and “Refunds will be available for those unable to attend.”

If you’re in New York or New Jersey, you don’t need to worry about your show dates — nothing has changed.

Aerosmith’s concerts are still set for Dec. 28 at Newark’s Prudential Center , Buffalo, NY’s KeyBank Center Jan. 16, 2024 and New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Jan. 19, 2024.

Recent tour reviews

I have been an Aerosmith fan since I was 2 years old, back in 1974, and I used to try to swerve my hips back 'n' forth à la Steven Tyler.

I have only had the chance to see them 3 times in my life, and it seems that every time they come in concert life whisks me away some place else!

So now I'm in Cyprus for a long time coming... and nearly nobody ever comes out to this little (amazing) island at the end of the Mediterranean sea. It's unfortunate as there are some true fans out here, and I'm sure the band would love to make a pitstop in this paradisal place.

@Aerosmith - PLEASE COME!!! It really is worth it here.

I have seen Aerosmith over 30 times!!! I am from Fl., in 2015 they didn't come to the east coast. So I went to the 2nd to last concert of "The Blue Army Tour" in Hildago,Tx.

It was the best concert by them that I have seen yet.

3rd row 3rd seat, Steven Tyler seemed and acted like he was a 25-year-old .

After 30 times of seeing them I felt like it was my 1st. He threw his harmonica to me and I went nuts.

I have to say that it was the highlight of my life. Next to having my son it was the best day of my life.

I can hardly wait until they come again.......it won't be soon enough.
