Sun-drenched rooms and suites and glass-enclosed walking paths help bring the outdoors in. Property highlights include an on-site health and performance center, a 100,000-square-foot spa and fitness complex, indoor and outdoor pools, and three restaurants, including a demo kitchen.

Miraval Arizona

"My stay at Miraval Arizona was truly the most relaxed I have ever felt," says Fora travel advisor Nadia Bass . She continues, telling Travel + Leisure , "The staff at this property are exemplary; all of the guest services staff are friendly and helpful, and the practitioners are all experts in their field." This adults-only all-inclusive resort also offers dozens of incredible activities plus a desert-inspired spa with facilities — including a serenity pool, hot tub, saunas, steam room, and relaxation lounge — that are free to all guests. That said, it's certainly worth splurging on one of the regionally inspired treatments such as the prickly pear sugar scrub. Best of all, says Bass, "All meals, snacks, coffee, smoothies, and non-alcoholic beverages are included, and, let me tell you, the food is spectacular!" 

Amangiri , which translates to "peaceful mountain" in Sanskrit, is best described by Fora travel advisor Elizabeth Kaczka as "a modern desert marvel, seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape." This 2023 World's Best Award-winning resort has attracted seclusion-seeking A-listers such as Kim Kardashian and Brad Pitt. Accommodations take the form of spectacular suites and pavilions, complete with white stone floors, concrete walls, Instagram-worthy desert views, fireplace-equipped outdoor lounges, and, in some cases, private pools or roof terraces. The 25,000-square-foot spa features a water pavilion with a steam room, sauna, and two pools, while the flotation pavilion offers its own relaxation area. All stays include breakfast, lunch, and dinner; guided group hikes; daily group wellness classes; and access to on-site hiking trails to explore at your own pace. 

Red Mountain Resort

Spa lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and relaxation seekers alike need not look further than Red Mountain Resort , says Kulkarni. This one-of-a-kind wellness retreat near Zion National Park offers adventures such as hiking, biking, rappelling, and canyoneering, along with less strenuous activities like yoga and meditation. Alternatively, the travel advisor says those craving something more low-key can "just sit by the pool or go to the spa while enjoying the mountain scenery." Don't miss the signature treatments, including the Red Mountain Revitalizer (a full-body treatment that includes a prickly pear sugar scrub, full body massage, and warm Vichy shower) and the Adobe Lavender Hydrating Cocoon, which utilizes local red clay. 

Douglas Friedman

According to Fora travel advisor Amna Ismail , " Mii Amo is an ideal destination to escape, rejuvenate, and immerse yourself in a tranquil natural environment." The acclaimed spa hotel — a 2023 It List recipient — is located in Sedona , best known for its energy vortexes, which have attracted soul-searching travelers for decades. The newly renovated resort works with guests to create highly personalized and unique experiences (known as "journeys"). These all-inclusive itineraries also feature complimentary consults, lectures, fitness classes, specialty programming, and a daily spa or Trail House credit, which can be used for outdoor activities like hiking and biking. Although Ismail described the health-conscious cuisine here as "out of this world," it's also worth noting that guests also have the option to dine at sister property Enchantment Resort .

The Lodge at Woodloch

This adults-only all-inclusive wellness resort in the Pocono Mountains recently took home a 2023 World's Best Award in the "Domestic Destination Spas" category — and it's easy to see why. The sprawling 40,000-square-foot spa is free for all resort guests, regardless of whether or not they book a treatment. Highlights include two relaxation rooms (one of which is silent), several pools (including an infinity-edge one overlooking the mountains), a snow room, and a Himalayan salt sauna. The property itself is situated on 500-plus wooded acres. After completing one of the dozens of activities, sit down for a gourmet meal before retreating to one of the 59 rooms and suites, which serve as tranquil sanctuaries with contemporary decor and private balconies.

Fora travel advisor Karen Hart calls this luxury all-inclusive resort "perfect for those seeking spa treatments, activity, nature, a mountainous setting, and farm-to-table dining." She continues, telling T+L that "Everything is balanced here, with activities and services that go well beyond just the woo-woo of green juices and intense yoga practices." This 2023 World's Best Award recipient is most famous for its eponymous mineral-rich hot springs, which guests can soak in. The travel pro also notes that each bungalow-style accommodation — outfitted with outdoor decks, fireplaces, and bespoke stone tubs — offers an ideal sense of seclusion. That said, she's quick to note that "community and socializing are also part of the stay in the dining areas, the bar, the outdoor fire pits, and main buildings." 

Inns of Aurora

The Inns of Aurora was crowned among the best New York State resorts in 2022 and 2023 . The Finger Lakes property is unique in that it's comprised of five individual boutique properties to create a charming village-style feel. The resort's world-class spa is perched on a hill, offering stunning views of nearby Cayuga Lake. Expect a range of Ayurvedic- and holistic-inspired services, including reiki, dry brushing, and hammam rituals, along with signature massages and body treatments. Other wellness-centric amenities include hydrotherapy circuits, a sauna, and a steam room. Your day starts off with some early morning stretches followed by breakfast and up to four hours of group hiking. Before you know it, it's time for lunch and naptime. Then, you're off to strength training and yoga, followed by your daily massage. Post-treatment, you'll have free time to lounge by the pool, check out the infrared sauna or cryotherapy, or cozy up with a good book in one of the common areas. Best of all, says Kulkarni, "Everything is taken care of here for you, so all you have to do is enjoy the daily exercise, amazing food, and relaxation." 

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort

" Sensei Lana'i is a breathtakingly beautiful property on the secluded island of Lana'i (you won't see a single traffic light anywhere) that can be done at your own pace," explains Fora travel advisor Cindy Lu . "The island vibe takes off any pressure to hurry and ‘feel better,’ and you're allowed to center yourself in nature, comfort, and nourishment." The idyllic flora-filled property offers a slew of noteworthy amenities, including dining by Nobu, a tranquil pool area, complimentary beach shuttle service, wellness and fitness classes, and a soaking tub-dotted secret garden. However, says Lu, "The best part is having access to a private spa hale for yourself — a small bath house for relaxation and treatment that is an otherworldly experience." 

Civana Wellness Resort & Spa

Let your worries melt away at Civana Wellness Resort & Spa . Located in the aptly named town of Carefree, this dreamy desert oasis is "known for its emphasis on holistic health and rejuvenation," says Ismail. She continues telling T+L, "With a focus on mindfulness, nutrition, and relaxation, Civana provides a serene retreat for guests seeking to unwind, improve their health, and connect with nature in a peaceful desert setting." Although it's not all-inclusive, the 2023 World's Best Award-winner offers a whopping 70-plus free fitness, personal growth, and spiritual classes every week — along with luxe accommodations, bike rentals, and access to 5,000-plus square feet of fitness, yoga, and meditation space. The spa features a hydrotherapy circuit and restorative treatments ranging from CBD massages and botanical-infused body scrubs to reiki and sound healing.

Ojo Santa Fe

"The tranquil grounds of Ojo Santa Fe invite relaxation and make you feel worlds away, even though the resort is a short drive from the center of town," says Fora travel advisor Jane Henzerling . This 77-acre property is famous for spring-fed thermal waters, where you can easily spend the entire afternoon soaking. "Shared pools are beautifully integrated into the grounds, and private soaking tubs with their own wood-burning kiva fireplaces are [also] available to reserve," explains Henzerling. Post-soak, head to the spa to indulge in signature treatments like the Lavender Body Quench Massage and Wrap. Carve out enough time to partake in daily morning yoga, go hiking, or attend a temazcal ceremony. Meanwhile, animal lovers also have the opportunity to snuggle with puppies and mingle with chickens. At the end of the day, retreat to your casita, which the travel advisor describes as "spacious and private, combining a minimalist aesthetic with creature comforts like fireplaces and throw blankets."

This adults-only all-inclusive oasis is nestled in the heart of Texas Hill Country along the shores of Lake Austin. The 25,000-square-foot LakeHouse Spa offers more than 100 different treatments. Be sure to also take advantage of ample on-site activities and amenities like non-motorized water sports, daily hikes, fitness classes, culinary and cocktail classes, three pools, and a lakeside beach area. Meanwhile, the 40 rooms and suites are equally impressive, with bright, airy interiors and detail-oriented touches like vitamin C-infused shower heads and soaking tubs. Ultimate Guide to Virgin Voyages Spa Prices, Thermal Spa Pass + More

Relaxing in  Virgin Voyages’ Redemption Spa  is one of my favorite things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise. The Thermal Spa Pass allows you to spend a few hours soaking in hot and cold pools, releasing toxins in the wet and dry saunas, treating your skin with mud masks, and trying out the spa’s unique Himalayan salt room. 

But before I tried the Thermal Suite Pass on my first Virgin Voyages cruise, I was uncertain about whether it was worth it. With so many things to do on board, you want to make the best of your time and ensure you know what you’re getting yourself into when trying something new.

This Virgin Voyages travel guide will detail everything you need to know about the Thermal Suite Pass, and give you an overview of the Virgin Voyages spa prices for massages and other treatments. 

This guide is accurate for the Scarlet Lady spa, Resilient Lady spa, Brilliant Lady spa, and Valiant Lady spa, since all four ships have a nearly identical design. The photos are from the Valiant Lady. I do my best to keep this guide up to date, but Virgin Voyages’ spa prices may change at any time. Everything You Need to Know About the Virgin Voyages Thermal Spa Pass

The Thermal Spa Pass allows you to spend up to three hours in the Redemption Spa Thermal Suite. The pass costs $49 on port days and $69 on sea days. You can also get an unlimited use pass for the duration of your cruise, but the price varies depending on cruise length.

I visited the Thermal Suite first on my first sea day on an 8-night Virgin Voyages Caribbean cruise. Since it was the first day, the spa was uncrowded, which was wonderful! Then when a massive rain storm ruined my plans in the Dominican Republic, I spent the afternoon enjoying the spa. Even though it was a port day, it was a little more busy. If you want to visit the spa when its least busy, you can ask the spa staff to see the sign-up sheet. Generally, the least busy times are at the beginning of the cruise, port days, and during major events like Scarlet Night .

Redemption Spa Thermal Suite Features

There are several rooms and other features in Virgin Voyages’ Thermal Suite. Each room has darling circular windows where you can look out at the ocean. The spa rooms and features include the following:

Himalayan salt room : The Himalayan Salt Room was the most unique feature I saw in Redemption Spa. It’s a heated room covered in bright pink and white marble, where you can experience halotherapy (breathing in salty air). Halotherapy is known to improve breathing and help with certain health conditions including asthma and lung infections.

Wet sauna (steam room) : The wet sauna is a steam room that is heated and scented with lavender and eucalyptus essential oils. The room is thick with steam and very hot. Spending time in a steam room can result in a diversity of health benefits, from clearing congestion to lowering blood pressure.

Dry sauna : The dry sauna is hot and dry, with cedar seating. It’s the largest of the various saunas and rooms, and can easily seat a few groups of people. Some of the benefits of spending time in a dry sauna include reduced inflammation and a lower risk of heart disease.

Mud room : Virgin Voyages’ Redemption Spa also features a mud room, which is essentially a sauna where you can apply a mud mask on your skin and wash it off. You can get small containers of mud from the reception to use in this room. To maximize your experience, do the mud mask at the very end of your time in the spa.

Hot plunge tub (hot tub): The Virgin Voyages has one small hot tub with enough room for two people. Thankfully, there are several large hot tubs on upper decks of the ship that are available for free.

Cold plunge tubs : The spa also features two small cold plunge tubs, which each fit two people. Switching back and forth between the cold plunge tubs and the sauna is thought to have significant health benefits .

Pool : Next to the three plunge tubs is a pool with lukewarm water. You can enter this pool after the hot tub to cool down.

Heated marble hammam benches : Another interesting addition to the Thermal Suite is the heated marble benches. These marble slabs are modeled after benches in traditional Turkish bathhouses. You can lay on the heated marble, though, I personally prefer to spend the majority of my time in the sauna, salt room or tubs.

What does the Thermal Suite Pass include?

The Thermal Suite Pass includes access the the Thermal Suite (usually for three hours), a white bathrobe, towels, plastic slides, mud for mud masks, and water.

How much does the Thermal Suite Pass cost?

The Virgin Voyages Thermal Suite Pass costs $49 on port days and $69 on sea days. In addition, you can get a spa pass for the duration of your cruise for a few hundred dollars (depending on the cruise length).

How can I reserve a Thermal Suite Pass?

You can only reserve a Thermal Suite Pass on board your Virgin Voyages ship. When you are on board, head to the Redemption Spa reception on Deck 5 and make your reservation. If you’re curious about which days and time slots have the least sign-ups, you can ask the receptionist to see the sign-up sheet.

Is Virgin Voyages’ Thermal Suite Pass worth it?

My husband and I purchases the Thermal Suite Pass twice on our 8-night cruise, and we thought it was definitely worth it. The facilities are new and clean, and the experience is relaxing. If you’re able to book on a port day, the price is lower than what you’d pay at most spas the U.S.

And who doesn’t need some “me” time after all that family activity? A two- or three-night retreat should do just the trick—long enough to take some good deep breaths, but not so long that it’s hard to get back to reality. 

That relatively brief time frame makes it key to keep things reasonably local, to cut down on travel time. And  that  means keeping the  top spa resorts in the United States , Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean top of mind. Here, our picks for the best weekend wellness retreats close to home right now—many of them newly opened or recently updated, and all of them more than ready to welcome you with some of the best massages, facials, fitness workouts, and food and drink around.

This French Provençal–style spot forty-five miles north of San Diego has tons to recommend it. For starters, its thirty-two villas sit on more than 500 private acres, ensuring you’ll have plenty of space to yourself. Then there are the sunrise hikes on the resort’s ten miles of private trails, the tennis and pickleball courts, two pools, an eighteen-hole golf course, a stargazing observatory with astronomer-guided lectures, and more than 160 wellness classes from cardio kickboxing to mind-body-spirit tutorials to nutritional lessons. Blackberry Mountain and Blackberry Farm, Walland, TN Arrow

This pair of pastoral retreats in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains —a half hour from the Knoxville airport, and driving distance from many Southern cities—truly feel away from it all. The three-year-old Mountain outpost, with its treehouses, outdoor adventure, and wellness pursuits—hiking and biking, aerial yoga, sound bathing, and guided meditation—is like a souped-up summer camp for well-off, wellbeing- and fitness-minded grownups. Jumby Bay, Antigua Arrow

Since becoming part of the prestigious Oetker Collection of luxe hotels in 2017, this resort occupying the entirety of a 300-acre, car-free private Caribbean island just off  Antigua ’s north coast has received an extensive upgrade. The updated spa now features five treatment rooms, a plunge pool, and open-air relaxation lounge all overlooking the sea. A steam room, sauna, salon, fitness center, and yoga pavilion provide further temptation. Treatments here uniquely combine contemporary modalities with centuries-old local botanical and herbal healing remedies pioneered by the indigenous and Afro-Caribbean communities of the West Indies.

Rancho Pescadero, Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico Arrow

Newly reopened, renovated, and majorly expanded, this beloved, barefoot-chic beachfront hotel—located an hour up Baja’s southwest coast from Cabo—now lays claim to 103 rooms (up from the original twelve) plus a 25,000-square-foot nature-led spa with a dozen alfresco treatment room, a lap pool, a hydrotherapy area, and an apothecary where guests create their own remedies using medicinal herb and botanical gardens foraged in the resort’s gardens. Aerial yoga, reformer Pilates, and a CrossFit-style gym are also on offer. Owner Lisa Harper, a former Gymboree CEO who opened the hotel in 2009, teamed up with Mexican architect Alejandra Templeton to craft a zen-feeling aesthetic whose warm neutrals and natural materials encourage rest, relaxation, and mindfulness.

Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach, Miami Beach, FL Arrow

Miami has no shortage of epic spa hotels: two Four Seasons, two Ritz Carltons, a St. Regis, plus style-setting independents from the contemporary maximalist fantasia that is the Faena to the mid-century-modern Fountainbleu. It’s an embarrassment of riches. We especially love Acqualina’s 20,000-square-foot spa for its sweeping Atlantic Ocean-facing terrace with pools and waterfall, and its new, natural collagen-based sculpting facials created in partnership with European skincare brand Swissline. Those in the know book the 820-square-foot Royal Spa Suite, a couples’ treatment room designed for Acqualina by Italian fashion house Fendi. Don’t miss the steam room clad entirely with mother of pearl. 

Shou Sugi Ban House, Water Mill, NY Arrow

With its thirteen Japanese-inflected studio suites, five-room B&B, and two longer-stay residences, as well as its barns, pool and spa, this five-acre wellness escape—the Hamptons’ first—is the perfect place to just chill out. The overnight retreats here, which include breakfast and morning and evening movement and meditation classes, give special access to the property, with seasonally changing Eastern and Western spa treatments available for booking. (And the hotel recommends that even in-residence guests book them in advance.) Expected for spring 2023: Shou Sugi Ban Lab, a forward-thinking wellbeing environment combining cutting edge wellness tech like biohacking with traditional healing techniques.

Dunton Hot Springs, Dolores, CO Arrow

Wild West, but make it luxury. As its name suggests, this 1,500-acre, fourteen-cabin resort in a repurposed former mining town touts its healing waters as a key draw. You can experience the springs in as many as six different settings, including the Bath House spa, which uses all-natural products for its 75-minute-long body scrubs, facials and massages. (The herbal poultice and CBD massages are particularly popular.) There’s also complimentary yoga, plus easy, curated access to the Mountain West’s many pleasures, from horseback riding to hiking to rafting to fly-fishing. 

Meadowood Napa Valley, St. Helena, CA Arrow

Reopened since August 2021 following the devastation wrought by Northern California’s late-2020 Glass fire, this perpetual favorite—whose 36 tastefully appointed cottages and suites sit amid 250 acres—is very much back in business, and it remains a wine country lover’s dream. The all-suite spa offers Pietro Simone facials, a range of massages, and packages inspired by the surrounding landscapes (“From the Garden,” “From the Field,” “From the Earth”). Book a treatment in the partially open-air Treehouse, which has its own fireplace and copper soaking tub. And don’t miss the resort’s three pools and five tennis courts.

Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa, Tucson, AZ Arrow

A favorite of Oprah Winfrey’s, this 400-acre Sonora Desert retreat nestles against Arizona’s Santa Catalina Mountains, its rooms, suites, and villas opening to long views. The 30,000-square-foot spa boasts twenty-three indoor and six outdoor treatment rooms and a massive treatment menu that includes therapies inspired by local indigenous healing practices. The more than forty classes and activities cover everything from hiking to horses, beekeeping to cocktail-making, art to aerial yoga, plus a ropes course, yoga, pilates, dream- and gratitude-based modalities and much, much more. 

Salamander Resort & Spa, Middleburg, VA Arrow

In the heart of Virginia horse country, an hour west of  Washington, D.C. , this equestrian-minded escape—designed by its media-mogul owner, BET cofounder Sheila Johnson—boasts a 23,000-square-foot spa unlike anything nearby. The signature massages and body treatments here integrate such unique and diverse elements as Tibetan prayer bowls and CBD, while facials make the most of best-in-class Biologique Recherché products. Therapies like these are just what you’ll want after laps in the indoor or outdoor pool, a yoga class, an invigorating hike, or a horseback or bike ride around Salamander’s bucolic 340 acres.

Pour un week end spa en PACA dans un hôtel de luxe , je vous conseille de partir à Monaco .

La principauté, ville du luxe par excellence, est connue pour ses magnifiques établissements de prestige. L’hôtel Fairmont Monte-Carlo, que je vous ai sélectionné, est d’ailleurs l’un d’entre eux!

Spa de 900 m² , piscine chauffée à l’année, navette gratuite pour vous rendre à la plage, casino et une vue sur la baie de Monaco, tout est fait pour que vous passiez un merveilleux week end.

Son emplacement est en plus idéal pour découvrir la ville à pied et faire du shopping dans les boutiques de luxe.

Je vous le disais, il y a plusieurs très beaux hôtels 5* à Monaco. Si le Fairmont Monte Carlo ne vous convient pas, n’hésitez pas à jeter un œil sur les autres établissements avec Spa:

• L’hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo qui n’est rien de moins que l’hôtel emblématique de la Principauté.
• L’hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo qui comprend un magnifique Spa Givenchy et plusieurs restaurants dirigés par Joel Robuchon.
• L’Hermitage Monte-Carlo dont le Spa fait 7000m² et le restaurant possède 1 étoile au Guide Michelin.
• Le Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort qui dispose d’un grand lagon extérieur avec plusieurs piscines et cascade entouré de jardins.

Etant originaire de Nice , impossible pour moi de ne pas vous proposer un séjour spa sur la côte d’Azur dans cette très jolie ville de bord de mer.

Pour cela, je vous conseille de passer la nuit au Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Méditerranée se trouvant sur la fameuse Promenade des Anglais, juste en face de la mer.

Cet hôtel 5* est dotée d’une grande piscine intérieure , d’un sauna, d’un hammam mais aussi d’une piscine extérieure . Après une après-midi détente et un bon dîner dans le restaurant de l’établissement, vous pourrez passer le reste de la soirée au Casino.

They’re actually a crucial part of balancing your mental and physical health. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from a therapist, and you don’t need to be emotionally distraught to deserve a relaxing vacation.

Wellness retreats come in a variety of forms. They’re not always lodges tucked away in the mountains, with glassy-eyed holistic gurus spouting inspirational phrases, a keto-only menu, and meditation workshops that expect you to hit at least three phases of enlightenment. The best wellness retreats aren’t about rigidity, they’re about giving you space to breathe and decompress. They’re about choices. If burning calories is more cathartic to you than packing them on (hey, to each his own), a range of fitness classes are also included with your fare. Choose between Growth and Guided Meditation, HIIT Class, the 80s-inspired VHS Workout, a Spin-Out spin class, On-the-Upswing Bungee Class, and others. There are also punching bags on the pool deck, and a fully-stocked gym with weights and treadmills.

Turn sea days into spa days
