Award winning film composer Hans Zimmer will bring his smash-hit tour Hans Zimmer Live to North America this Fall with arena dates across the United States and Canada, including a birthday show at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Following a sold-out European run, the tour marks the North American return of the “Hollywood Rebel” (according to the BBC) who rocked Coachella in 2017 with his outstanding live band and orchestra. Audiences will be swept away from the sound of the first note and journey through an array of well-loved scores throughout Zimmer’s career. In a groundbreaking audio and visual show, the multiple Academy Award® and Grammy winning Zimmer, his band and the orchestra will perform a selection of the composer’s scores from some of cinema’s biggest films. The newly arranged concert suites include music from Gladiator , Pirates of the Caribbean , The Dark Knight , Interstellar , The Lion King , The Last Samurai and Dune , for which Zimmer received his second Academy Award®.

“Hans Zimmer LIVE” features more of two hours of new reimagined arrangements of some of the most popular compositions by the L.A.-based composer icon. The album was recorded during the highly successful same-named concert tour in Europe in spring of 2022 for which Zimmer created new “suites” from some of his most recognizable themes and melodies from the Academy Award © -winning scores for Dune and The Lion King, as well as such contemporary classics as The Dark Knight, X Men: Dark Phoenix, Dunkirk, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar, The Last Samurai, Man of Steel, James Bond: No Time to Die, Pirates of the Caribbean and Wonder Woman 1984. The award-winning film composer returns to perform in North America for the first time in seven years

Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer announced he will bring his smash-hit tour Hans Zimmer Live to North America this fall with arena dates across the United States and Canada, including a birthday show at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Following a sold-out European run, the tour marks the North American return Zimmer who rocked Coachella in 2017. With the support of his outstanding 18-piece live band and a full orchestra, audiences will be swept away from the sound of the first note and journey through an array of well-loved scores throughout Zimmer’s career. Hans Zimmer Live kicks off in Duluth, GA at the Gas South Arena on September 6th and will visit 17 cities across the US and Canada, concluding at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC on October 6th.

Tickets are available starting March 22nd at 10 am local time.

Hans Zimmer Announces New North American Dates for His Upcoming World Tour

Hans Zimmer has expanded the list of United States and Canadian dates he announced in November , which form part of his upcoming world tour. Including previously-announced European tour dates, Zimmer’s tour will now have a sprawling five month run.

According to a November statement from Zimmer, at least some of these shows (those specified at Zimmer’s site ) will be billed as “Hans Zimmer Revealed,” including his performance at Coachella this month. Zimmer’s concerts will feature creatively “reimagined” versions of sections of his soundtracks for director Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy), and will reportedly incorporate “special guests from the rock and pop world.” Zimmer will also play highlights from his decades-long career as an esteemed film-soundtrack writer, including his work for Pirates of the Caribbean , Gladiator , and more.

Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is set to release a new double album, “Hans Zimmer Live,” in 2023.

Sony Classical announced the news today as it previewed the first single(s), the three-part “Last Samurai Suite.”

Zimmer’s new album features reimagined arrangements of his most iconic pieces. Among those scores getting new treatments are “The Lion King,” “The Dark Knight,” “Dunkirk” “Gladiator” and “Inception.”

His band features frequent collaborators Lisa Gerrard (“Gladiator”), Lebo M. (“The Lion King”), Loire Cutler (“X Men: Dark Phoenix”), cellist Tina Guo (“Wonder Woman”) and Nick Glennie-Smith (musical director of the band). Zimmer plays multiple instruments on the album, which also features the Odessa Opera Orchestra and Choir.

He said, “I simply wanted to produce the best album. I wanted to create an opportunity for the music to breathe a little differently, in its own context. For this adventure, I am thrilled to have been joined by the greatest possible team of collaborators.”

“Hans Zimmer Live” will be released on March 3 and be available on streaming platforms.

Two-time Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer reflects on his 2022 tour, which featured Ukrainian musicians, as he announces his new album and upcoming European tour.

Hans Zimmer is now one of the most legendary names in the history of film and TV music.

The 65-year-old German-born composer has worked on over 500 projects across his prolific 40-year-career, producing some of the silver screen’s best love soundtracks.

From The Lion King , to the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Zimmer’s versatile, yet still distinctive sound, has made him a popular choice for directors in Hollywood looking to score their next box office hit.

So beloved has his music been that in 2022, Zimmer toured across Europe with his 20-piece band – ‘The Disruptive Collective’, and members of the Odesa Opera Orchestra and Choir, playing to packed out arenas in every city that visited.

In each concert, Zimmer and his band would play reimaginations of the Grammy-award winning composer’s most famed compositions, and over 10-days during the tour, a selection of these have been recorded as a new album.

‘Hans Zimmer LIVE’, will be released on 3rd March 2023 as a double album by Sony Classical.

Hans Zimmer LIVE was recorded by Hans Zimmer’s friend and producer, Stephen Lipson, and the pair spent weeks mixing the upcoming double album.

While the Hans Zimmer LIVE show is a cacophony of intricate light and sound design elements, Zimmer’s instruction for Lipson when it came to the album, was to focus on the music.

“I simply wanted to produce the best album,” Zimmer told Sony Classical ahead of the release announcement, “I wanted to create an opportunity for the music to breathe a little differently, in its own context.”

However, for fans who do want to experience the Hans Zimmer LIVE concert in person, the composer announced that the Hans Zimmer LIVE tour would be returning in April 2023 , one month after the release of the new album.

The European arena tour will comprise of 32 concerts across 15 countries, including new stops in Portugal, Spain, Slovakia and Germany. Hans Zimmer LIVE will come to London’s O2 on 14th and 15th June 2023, and Manchester’s AO Arena on 16th June 2023.

Hans Zimmer Live and its connection to the war in Ukraine

Zimmer speaks fondly of all of the musicians he worked with on the tour, but this year in particular, he was especially grateful for the members of his orchestra.

“Our orchestra was from Odesa,”, Zimmer explained at a recent London press conference, “we had booked them three years earlier. And when the war started in February earlier this year, we managed to get 10 people out.

“[The band] all became very close, because these [orchestral musicians] were suddenly without a roof over their head and without a home; without anything. They were constantly worried about their families, constantly worried about their country.

“And I just want to say, I was just stunned with how they could go and play every night, how they could get through these concerts without running to get to the phone to find out [if their loved ones were okay].

“I remember, these stories would trickle back across the stage to me; ‘somebody's house got bombed’, ‘we're not sure if mom is okay’, or ‘somebody had to go to the front’.

“So what we’re talking about, it wasn't a normal tour. It wasn't. It wasn't the complications and the difficulties, you have with a normal tour. It was so much more than that.”

At the second London show of the 2022 Hans Zimmer LIVE tour, the composer halted the concert before the final piece to play a video, found by his daughter on Instagram.

The video showed a Ukrainian pianist playing Zimmer’s piece ‘Time’ from the 2010 blockbuster, ‘Inception’, as air raid sirens could be clearly heard blasting in the background.

The pianist’s (Alex Karpenko) video was projected up on a high screen in London’s O2 Arena, and after it had played out, Zimmer’s band echoed the piece with their own rendition.

Zimmer concluded his orchestra’s performance by saying, “How lucky are we that we can listen to this piece of music without sirens, and without bombs”.

He then turned to members of the Odesa Opera Orchestra in his band and ended, “Our hearts are with you and with your people.”

‘A New Dimension’ to celebrate the music of Hans Zimmer with 2024 UK arena tour

Taking place across the UK/Ireland and Europe, the concerts will feature "stunning visual projections of film sequences" to accompany the music

A European and UK/Ireland tour celebrating the world of Hans Zimmer has been announced for next year – find all the details below.

The Oscar -winning film score composer and music producer’s work will be celebrated next March for a run of dates dubbed ‘The World Of Hans Zimmer: A New Dimension’.

The trek takes in 30 dates in 13 countries, with the UK and Ireland leg set to begin at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on April 6.

Further gigs will take place at the AO Arena in Manchester (April 7), the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham (9), The O2 in London (10) and the 3Arena in Dublin (12).

The European stop-offs include Lille, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Madrid and Oslo.

Tickets for the UK/Ireland dates go on general sale at 9am BST this Friday (April 21) – you’ll be able to purchase yours here .

Per a press release, Zimmer is “arranging a brand-new selection from his tremendously diverse collection of scores” for the upcoming concerts.

“The audience will be taken on a unique musical journey that will immerse them in completely new dimensions,” it adds.

Zimmer himself will not appear live on stage in ‘A New Dimension’, and is instead serving as the show’s curator and musical director.

“My aspiration with this new show is to preserve the culture of the orchestra and allow audiences to rediscover the unique facets of orchestral music,” he explained in a statement.

“There are many background stories I would love to tell and long-time companions and friends I would like to introduce.”

Soundtrack conductor Gavin Greenaway – a long-time and trusted friend of Zimmer – will “continue to conjure the magic of the composer’s works for the audience, along with some of the most outstanding, renowned soloists from Zimmer’s talent pool and a masterful symphony orchestra”.

Greenaway said: “We have found a way for everyone to exist in this music without anyone being the big star. The music will be the star. The show is an absolute thrill, and we love it.”

The touring sensation ‘ The World of Hans Zimmer ’ will come back completely renewed in 2024 with a brand-new show entitled ‘ A New Dimension ’, offering more than 60 concerts and visiting almost 20 countries, including the cities of Madrid & Barcelona in Spain .

The concert tour’s precursor ‘ The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration ’ first wowed audiences in Germany in 2018 and has since been on a triumphal march around the world. Hans Zimmer talks about first North American tour dates in 7 years, the magic of composing for film

LOS ANGELES (AP) — For generations, German composer Hans Zimmer ‘s film scores have soundtracked magic movie moments in “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” the “Dark Knight” trilogy, and most recently, “Dune” and “Dune: Part Two.” This fall, Zimmer will bring his award-winning scores to the live stage.

His “Hans Zimmer Live” tour, which sold out in Europe, will make its way to the U.S. and Canada this fall, marking the first time Zimmer has performed in North America in seven years.

The last time, as some fans may recall, was a 2017 Coachella performance.

Over Zoom from New York, Zimmer said he was inspired after “refusing to get onto a stage for 40 years” because of something his friends, The Smiths’ Johnny Marr and Pharrell Williams, told him.

“You have to look your audience in the eye. You can’t hide behind the screen forever. You know, you owe it to your, you know, audience,” he says they told him. And after Coachella, he realized: “I can do this,” he said.

Having done the run in Europe, “we’re at the top of our game at the moment,” he says of his orchestra.

Don’t expect a traditional, classical music setting or a piano concerto — at “Hans Zimmer Live,” there is no conductor, no sheet music in front of each musician, and not a single frame from any of the films he’s referencing.

“I come from rock and roll and I believe in putting on a show,” he says. “People stay with us because we give them an experience which they’ve never had before... Life is hard. Life is tough these days. And people worked hard to go to pay for these tickets, so we better pull off a show that is absolutely worthy of them coming and seeing us.”

“Hans Zimmer Live” kicks off at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Ga. on Sept. 6 and will hit 17 cities across the U.S. and Canada before concluding at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on Oct. 6.

The tour includes stops in Hollywood, Florida; Raleigh, North Carolina; New York; Baltimore; Boston; Montreal and Toronto; Minneapolis; Chicago; Fort Worth, Texas; Denver; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Oakland, California, and Seattle.

Zimmer says attendees can expect a diverse audience. “I’ve looked out at the audience and there’s a mom with her grandson sitting next to a guy with a mohawk, sitting next to a man in a business suit, sitting next to another bunch of, you know, bikers,” Zimmer said. “So, it’s not just multi-generational, it’s multicultural.”

In more ways than one: Zimmer’s orchestra is from Ukraine; “Two weeks after the invasion started , we managed to get about half of them out of Odessa,” he says. Lebo M, who sings “The Lion King” theme, was a political refugee from South Africa when Zimmer first met him. Pedro Eustache, his woodwind player, is from Venezuela , “and he thinks he can probably never go back home,” says Zimmer.

“I have this very, very international group of players and ... part of what makes them such emotionally committed musicians is that they all have a story to tell you.”

“Hans Zimmer Live,” which has been recently rearranged, includes works from “Gladiator,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Dark Knight,” “Interstellar,” “The Lion King,” “The Last Samurai,” and “Dune.”

“Each piece is connected with the adventure of actually creating it, the adventure of actually making that movie, the adventure of the collaboration, the adventure of, you know, ‘How did we get here?”, he says. “Where did this journey start? And how can we make sure that it never ends?

“Each one of those movies is painted in color and affected by what is going on around us. And they have all been extraordinary journeys.”

All of these films and their scores are vastly different, but Zimmer’s idiosyncratic approach and arrangements should be considered the connective tissue. That, and a certain je ne sais quoi that makes an effective — and affecting — score.

“You need to be committed. You need to be honest. You can’t be sentimental,” he says of a successful score. “The other thing is, it’s the people who are performing it. Because if you think about it, the last actors that really get hired, the last actors that perform in a movie, are the musicians. So, I’m very careful about picking the people I work with.”

The indie rock band AJR has canceled its Tuesday night show in Norfolk, stating the venue is too small for the planned performance.

The band, composed of brothers Adam, Jack and Ryan Met, was set to kick off its 49-show national tour in Norfolk. Now, the tour will begin with a concert in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Guitarist Jack Met posted a video announcement to social media just before 2 a.m. the day of the Norfolk concert.

“This venue can’t accommodate the show we want to do size-wise. Something was lost in communication,” he said.

He promised to reschedule the concert, but gave no official word on when the concert would be rescheduled or if ticket holders would be reimbursed.

The Norfolk concert has been removed from the band’s website, but tickets were still for sale through Ticketmaster.

The City of Norfolk issued a statement Tuesday afternoon expressing disappointment in the band’s decision.

“The 11,000-seat Scope Arena has hosted many elaborate music and entertainment productions, including Kevin Hart, Cirque du Soleil, Patriotic Festival, and internationally recognized entertainers, showcasing the venue’s capabilities to provide awe-inspiring and memorable experiences,” reads the city’s statement.

The city said it will share more information with the 5,875 people who bought tickets, including a new date “when it becomes available.” The concert was booked a year ago, according to Norfolk.

Scope was constructed in 1971.
