Disney Wish: Disney’s Oceaneer Club (Marvel, Star Wars Cargo Bay, Captain’s Deck, Imagineering Lab, Fairytale Hall) & It’s A Small World Nursery Walkthrough

Disney’s Oceaneer Club and It’s A Small World Nursery, two extremely popular youth spaces aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships return aboard the Disney Wish. Both kids clubs are located on deck 2, midship just below the Grand Hall. it’s a small world nursery offers reservation babysitting service for cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years while Disney’s Oceaneer Club is designed for cruisers ages 3 to 12. At the end of this article there will be a video walkthrough of the spaces .

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Sign

The spaces on the Disney Wish are similar to the other ships in the fleet with themed areas within the youth spaces to offer a variety of options for the kids onboard. However, there is something that is different. In fact, a first for Disney Cruise Line aboard the Disney Wish is an entrance slide which they affectionally refers to as “down the rabbit hole” from the Grand Hall directly into the Disney’s Oceaneer Club.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Slide Podium

Before you ask, the answer is yes. Adults can even take a ride down the slide during open house hours. The child will check-in to the secured space at a podium on deck 3 in the Grand Hall with a Youth Counselor then proceeded down the slide where they can wash their hands before heading into the space.

There are five themed spaces within Disney’s Oceaneer Club with various types of entertainment from storytelling, arts and crafts, and dress-up to toys, games and watching Disney movies. During special times, there are opportunities for kids to have fun with Disney friends unique to the various spaces though interactive games and programs.

The main entrance area of the club, or hub , is somewhat reminiscent of Animator’s Palate aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder as it is decorated with black-and-white sketches of Disney and Pixar characters, The hub features a stage and its own slate of special shows, activities and character appearances.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Hub

Plus, there are Pixar themed restrooms with a row of those amazing hand washing machines.

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is a nautical playground inspired by the colors, icons and magic of Disney Cruise Line. This space is filled with nautical-themed physical and sensory-style games and activities, such as pipe slides and crawl-throughs, ship’s wheels, “busy boxes” fashioned as ship controls and cushy life-preserver seating areas.

Disney Wish Oceaneers Club Captain's Deck

Scheduled programming in this space feature Captain Minnie, in “Minnie’s Captain Academy” – a high-energy training session featuring playful games, dancing and maritime drills. These actives have been developed to spark their imagination and ingenuity during a series of challenges tied to STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). Captain Minnie inspects their progress and officially declares them honorary captains!

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab offers a unique opportunity for kids to discover the secrets of world-renowned Disney Imagineers. Programing will include hands-on activities and inventive experiments. Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, the ambassador of Walt Disney Imagineering, may even stop by to lend a wand to the newly minted magic makers.

The Imagineering Lab’s Ride Studio will allow kids to virtually design and ride a roller coaster.

Fairytale Hall

Fairytale Hall is a royal trio of activity rooms where kids join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens as they let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Fairytale Hall

Rapunzel’s Art Studio is a creative escape where kids have the best day ever making their own arts and crafts projects, like floating lanterns and paintings. Belle’s Library is a cozy corner for reading and acting out stories with the help of Disney characters. An enchanted painting above the fireplace magically transforms to bring the tales to life. Anna and Elsa are never far from snow, even in their summer cabin. Here, kids unlock icy powers during “Frozen Fun,” a series of gesture-based games hosted by Olaf, which include snowball fights with friendly trolls and a hunt for mischievous Snowgies — the tiny, playful snowmen created by Elsa in the animated short “Frozen Fever.”

Star Wars: Cargo Bay

The peculiar creatures and legendary characters of the  Star Wars  galaxy take center stage in  Star Wars : Cargo Bay. Within the space, kids take on the important role of creature handlers as they learn to manage a mischievous menagerie of exotic beings from across the galaxy, including a porg, Loth-cat, worrt and more.

Disney Wish Oceaneers Club Star Wars Cargo Bay

Throughout the cruise, they use augmented reality-enabled datapads to track and study the creatures on a series of special assignments. But there’s more to this job than meets the dianoga eye: The new crew actually joins an important mission to deliver a pair of secret stowaways, Rey and Chewbacca, back to the Resistance.

Disney Wish Oceaneers Club Star Wars Cargo Bay

During the interactive “Star Wars: Creature Challenge” experience, the newly minted caretakers are put to the test as they help feed the lifelike creatures and encounter some of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy. When things go awry, they’ll need to call on the expertise of Rey and Chewbacca — and even channel the Force — to rescue the ship from destruction.

If you had the opportunity to watch Making of the Disney Wish discussion panel , there was a part where Imagineer Danny Handke shared a little behind the scenes story about porgs. For anyone interested bird watching, one telltale sign is their waste matter which can be seen near a porg’s nest of wires. Yes, this is official Star Wars canon.

Disney Wish Oceaneers Club Star Wars Cargo Bay

Marvel Super Hero Academy

Marvel Super Hero Academy is a high-tech Avengers headquarters where young “recruits” train to be the next generation of super heroes with the help of Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and others.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Marvel

Kids begin by choosing a super hero suit based on those worn by Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Captain Marvel. They then watch their selections form around mannequins as preparation for “Avengers: Mission Training,” a gesture-based game where they put their new suits and skills to the test as they virtually battle bad guys.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Marvel

Elsewhere in the academy, kids team up with the masterminds from Pym Technologies and Wakandan Design Group — including a special appearance by Black Panther — to thwart Taskmaster’s evil plan to hack into the academy’s system and steal the world’s most advanced hero tech.

It’s A Small World Nursery

For the littlest cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years, It’s a Small World Nursery offers babysitting services in a whimsical environment inspired by the classic Disney attraction of the same name. Here, little ones play games, make crafts, watch movies, read books and even spend time with special Disney friends — all under the expert care of Disney-trained counselors.

Disney Wish It's A Small World Nursery

In the nursery, toddlers take a playful trip around the world in the company of Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters reimagined as “it’s a small world” dolls. Each section of the space is themed to different areas of the world, with characters grouped by their homelands.

Disney Wish It's A Small World Nursery

In the play room, magical murals feature interactive hand cranks that trigger delightful effects. Little ones can spark a cascade of ice magic from Elsa’s hand, send Aladdin and Jasmine swaying on the magic carpet, uncover Flynn Rider as he clings to Rapunzel’s enchanted tresses, and more. A toy train chugs along the ceiling, filling the space with colorful lights, playful sounds and kinetic energy.

Disney Wish It's A Small World Nursery

It’s a Small World Nursery is not part of Disney’s Oceaneer Club, but from what I’m told, Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck could be used as a flex space for the nursery as there are doors that can be opened to join the spaces while closing off the space from the Oceaneer Club.

Disney Wish Oceaneers Club Captain's Deck

Advance reservations are required for the nursery and can be made online concurrent with your onboard booking window for other cruise activities. Pending availability, reservations can also be made during the open house on embarkation day or anytime throughout your cruise by speaking with a Youth Counselor.

Disney Wish: 9 things to know about Disney's newest ship

Summer Hull

It's official: Disney's "Wish" has indeed come true, as Disney Cruise Line 's first new ship in a decade has joined the fleet.

Disney Cruise Line describes itself as "where magic meets the sea" — and now that it's recently wrapped up a media preview sailing of the ship, we can confirm that it is not only magical but also absolutely beautiful and very different from the other four Disney ships .

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Since 1998, Disney has embraced many of the same skills it uses while making its captivating movies to create a real-life setting on its first four ships that transports guests to a world where almost anything feels possible.

With its original class of ships, Disney introduced "magic" portholes in interior staterooms, fireworks celebrations at sea, paintings that "move," rotational dining rooms that transform and four age-specific kids clubs where children actually want to spend time.

Given the opportunity to design the first all-new Disney ship in 10 years and ultimately set the stage for the next class of ships at Disney Cruise Line, Disney Imagineers had both an exciting opportunity and an almost Herculean task of creating a whole new level of magic on the first of these new ships: Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Sailing from Port Canaveral for three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas for the foreseeable future, Disney Cruise Line's fifth ship is a stunning departure from its sister ships, to say the least.

Here are nine things unique to Disney Wish that we feel really set it apart.

Upgraded rooms and suites

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

I'll happily admit to being a sucker for a suite at sea and Disney concierge service amenities, but all of the cabins on Wish are a big step up for Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Wish cabins have a more subdued and upscale vibe than the cabins on Disney's four other ships, with a fairy-tale aesthetic featuring flourishes of gold and hidden surprises, such as special lighting effects over the pull-out bunk bed for kids.

In total, there are 1,254 rooms, 70% of which have balconies (or verandahs, as Disney calls them). Additionally, more than one-third (451) have connecting doors. There is a record number of concierge-level staterooms and suites, too, with 76 available (double the number of concierge-designated accommodations you'll find on other Disney vessels).

Each one-bedroom concierge suite has a separate living room, walk-in closets, two 43-inch TVs and two bathrooms, one of which features a rain shower, a bathtub and a double vanity.

Related: Review of a 1-bedroom suite on the Disney Wonder

New to Disney Wish are seven ocean-view rooms located over the bridge — a first for Disney Cruise Line. These rooms have an extended living area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow and ocean.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

And if all of that isn't enough, there are four royal suites with a "Sleeping Beauty" theme, two of which feature a wild, two-story floor plan. Hey, it's free to dream, isn't it? So, let's fantasize about the soaking tub, private hot tub, two master bedrooms, spiral staircase and two-deck-high stained-glass frieze.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

For cruisers who enjoy booking a room with access to the Concierge Lounge, Disney says it is more than triple the size of lounges on previous Disney ships, offering a "full bar, delicious light bites … an outdoor terrace with incredible views" and a special area for kids.

There is a private sun deck with two whirlpools, a wading pool and a bar, which is great news, as the main Disney pool areas tend to get pretty crowded.

If you want the best of the best, go for the almost 2,000-square-foot Wish Tower Suite, which is set in the forward funnel of the ship. It's hard to believe this is an actual place people can stay on a ship.

All-new on-ship attractions

Star wars: hyperspace lounge takes you to another galaxy.

I'll spare you the "out of this world" puns to describe the adult-focused Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on Disney Wish.

However, after watching (and feeling) the ship make multiple jumps to hyperspace, I can tell you this is a must-visit spot to grab a drink. You'll love sipping a space-themed cocktail at the bar while watching ships pass by — even if you don't go for the $5,000 "Star Wars" drink .

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Ships from all timelines of the "Star Wars" franchise fly across seven monitors that feature such insanely high resolutions that it really looks like Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon and more are right outside. The Imagineers worked closely with Lucasfilm to unlock the entire library of ships. Every ship that whizzes by has a name, a story and a place in the greater "Star Wars" universe. You can expect to take that jump through hyperspace to a different part of the galaxy every seven minutes or so.

To keep things as comfortable and immersive as possible, the direction you fly on the screens is indeed the same direction the cruise ship is heading, giving the experience an even more realistic feel.

But this space doesn't merely focus on what is happening "outside" — there's a whole lot going on inside the high-end, sophisticated lounge as well. While it's not as immersive as Disney's other "Star Wars" bars when you factor out the high-tech windows, it's still a cool — and very popular — space.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is open to families during the day, but every night starting at 9 p.m., the yacht-style lounge transforms into an adults-only venue ideal for kicking back and enjoying galactic-themed cocktails.

You'll enter the lounge via a room that is dark and serves as a "palate cleanser" from the rest of the ship. Then, once inside, everything from the custom furniture to the liquor bottles and specialty cocktails to the tap handles for the beer is themed accordingly.

As a child of the 1980s who lived and breathed all things "Star Wars" growing up, I had a blast enjoying a few otherworldly drinks from this gold-laden lounge with views of the universe beyond. It's no "Star Wars" hotel , but it's still pretty memorable.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

And, fine, maybe on my next Wish cruise I'll bring my kids here during the day, too.

The waterslide is more than just a waterslide

If you've sailed on Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, you've likely experienced the AquaDuck waterslide .

Disney is calling the AquaMouse (the waterslide on Disney Wish) the "first-ever Disney attraction at sea," which is a big statement for a company that knows attractions.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

The AquaMouse, which any cruiser who is at least 42 inches tall can ride, features show scenes, lighting effects, a dark tunnel, an original soundtrack and more than 60 water effects for a two-minute ride that spans 760 feet of tubing above the upper decks (and there are two totally different experiences available ).

The waterslide had a few issues on our preview cruise, so not all the effects were working, but my understanding is that the two storylines (Port Misadventures and Swiss Meltdown) will be available on a schedule of alternating days.

These shows are done in the same style as the newer Mickey shorts and what is featured at Hollywood Studios' Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. The cartoon scenes take place across multiple 85-inch screens during the 75 seconds you are traveling up the tunnel while you get soaked in a raft built for two.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

At the height of the show, you blast out of the tunnel and embark on a water ride around the upper decks. This ride also includes a series of speed blasters before its grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship. As an added bonus, you won't have to carry your own raft to the start of the ride.

I'm not sure the experience was so different than AquaDuck to label it a full-on attraction like you'd find in the theme parks, but it is certainly a waterslide worth checking out.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Lots of (really good) pools

One feature that was a bit under-hyped leading up to the first Wish sailing was the pools.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

There are more of them on Disney Wish than you'll find on the other Disney ships, and they are spread out, so you have a better chance of finding one that is tucked away and less crowded.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

The adults-only pool is especially worth mentioning, as it is an infinity pool that looks off the back of the ship. That said, all of the pools are much better than others I've seen on Disney Cruise Line.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

New rotational restaurants

The first four Disney cruise ships revolutionized dinner at sea by introducing a trio of themed restaurants where you — and the serving crew and other guests — rotate together throughout the nights of your cruise.

Disney Wish retains the rotational dining format but with a lineup of all-new dining experiences.

Related: Preview of food to be served on Disney Wish

Worlds of Marvel

When it's your turn to dine in the Worlds of Marvel restaurant, which is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, you'll have a role to play in saving the universe. As you eat at one of the 120 tables, you'll have access to a "quantum core" to use throughout your meal.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Between courses, all of which are inspired by the Marvel cinematic universe, there's a three-act event that starts off with Ant-Man and the Wasp doing a demonstration of what your quantum core can do.

During the main portion of the dinner service, the screens all around the room highlight the technology used by the superheroes, such as Captain America's shield and the vibranium that comes from Wakanda.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

The real excitement begins toward the end of your meal.

I won't give away the ending, but you can expect a supervillain as well as some extra help from "good guys" like Captain Marvel and Captain America. You'll also need to use your quantum core in the battle against evil, so don't fill up too much on shrunken desserts until you save the ship.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Next up on our foodie tour around the ship is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure . This is Disney's first "Frozen"-themed theatrical dining experience.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

The show takes place immediately after "Frozen II" and celebrates the engagement of Kristoff and Anna with immersive live entertainment performed in the round of the dining room.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

The Arendelle menu is Nordic-influenced, though there are options from a little closer to home, too, should you prefer less-adventurous items. The food here was some of our favorite on the ship, and the show was also pretty top-notch. There's even a celebration line toward the end similar to what happens in Tiana's Place aboard Disney Wonder .

But seriously, don't miss this dinner unless you hate "Frozen," live music and all things fun. In that case, maybe consider booking Palo.

The last of Disney Wish's new rotational restaurants is 1923, which is named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Disney says this restaurant features the best of the golden age of Hollywood, with the style of the furniture inspired by what was actually in Walt's office. The menu pays tribute to the company's Californian roots, and the dining room has a more intimate feel thanks to being divided into two equal parts that mirror each other.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

While there are not any villains or live entertainment here, the more laid-back setting is much appreciated, especially if you're seeking a similar dining pace and styling to what's available on the first four Disney ships.

However, if you are on a shorter cruise and need to skip one or more of the included restaurants to try out one of the adults-only spaces, this may be the one to forgo, unless you prefer quiet dinners. You can also visit for breakfast or lunch on certain days if you're set on working it into your cruise.

Additional dining options

The list of places to eat aboard Disney Wish is actually even longer than the three previously mentioned rotational dining restaurants.

For those willing to spend a little extra (and lucky enough to snag a reservation), the adults-only restaurants on Wish shouldn't be missed. Options include Palo Steakhouse, which combines the best of high-end Italian cuisine with a steakhouse in a setting that features subtle nods to "Beauty and the Beast," and Enchanté, where French-inspired fare concocted by the same chef who was behind the food at Remy (an upscale restaurant on board Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy) is on the menu.

I tried out Palo while on Disney Wish, and it was over-the-top amazing when it came to the service, the views and, of course, the food itself.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Connecting both of these luxe dining options is The Rose, a lounge that offers wine, small bites and other adult-focused items designed for pre- or post-dinner enjoyment.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

These restaurants and the adjacent lounge are absolutely gorgeous, and the food ranks as some of the best I've ever had ... anywhere.

A meal at Palo will start at around $45 per person, though that's for the set menu. A la carte items where the price is not set are available, too. Meals at Enchanté cost $125 per person for the set menu or you can order a la carte dishes. At The Rose, drinks are by the glass, so you can pop in whenever you're free — and you should, as it's an incredibly elegant spot ideal for unwinding without kids.

If you're looking for a casual venue to dine in with kids, be sure to check out the new version of the buffet: Marceline Market. Named after Walt Disney's hometown in Missouri, this eatery has 10 food stalls and a beverage center. Each station features a Disney movie theme, such as "Tangled," "Ratatouille," "Alice in Wonderland" or "Zootopia."

The food was delicious here, and I appreciated the addition of a place to order premium coffee and other beverages adjacent to the market. Know, though, that the seafood is a little hidden. You'll find it tucked away from the other stalls all the way in the aft.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

On the upper deck, you'll discover a number of poolside options, including Mickey's Smokestack Barbecue, Donald's Cantina, Daisy's Pizza Pies, Goofy's Grill and Sweet Minnie's Ice Cream.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

This food is vastly better than the pool deck food I've had on other Disney ships, so be sure to save time for at least one meal out on the deck. Don't skip the hot sauce bar, either.

A reimagined kids club

For families, one of the best parts of a family cruise with Disney Cruise Line is that kids often want to go to the complimentary kids clubs. This gives grown-ups a chance to have a drink, not rush through dinner and enjoy a few moments to themselves.

While this holds true on all the Disney ships, my 6-year-old never wanted to leave the kids club on Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

In a pure stroke of genius, Disney added a fun, unconventional way for kids to enter the Oceaneer Club. After checking into the kids club from the Grand Hall on Deck 3, children can zip down a magical slide that takes them straight into the space on Deck 2.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

In addition to the Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12, Disney Wish retains the cruise line's other kids clubs: Edge (for children ages 11 to 14) and Vibe (for teens ages 14 to 17). There's also the colorful Small World Nursery, which is a fee-based option open to the littlest baby and toddler sailors.

Kids club highlights include the Oceaneer Club's Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can design (and virtually fly in) their own super suit. This club also houses Rapunzel's Art Studio, Belle's Library and Anna and Elsa's Sommerhus, where there will be a variety of games with Olaf serving as the host. Additionally, there's a Disney Imagineering Lab that offers kids opportunities to design and virtually ride their own roller coasters and more — similar to how the real Imagineers take their concepts from the drawing board to actual attractions.

In Deck 5's tween club, Edge, kids can hang out in a New York City -inspired loft space with a faux-grass picnic area, photo walls and an entrance hidden behind a framed piece of art.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

And at the teen club, Vibe, the decor draws inspiration from a Parisian loft, offering lots of spots to lounge, watch movies, meet new people and play games. Honestly, this space looked so cool, I'd want to hang out there myself.

New activities for the family

Olaf's royal picnic.

If your kids have always wanted to celebrate summer via a picnic with Olaf in Arendelle's Castle, they are in luck on the Wish. Set in an indoor space with a backdrop of a meadow of flowers, Olaf's Royal Picnic features Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and a song-filled picnic complete with a ton of goodies for the kids to keep.

Unlike the included rotational restaurants, this experience costs extra. Expect to pay a hefty fee of $220 per child and $69 per adult.

We weren't able to try it out during the media preview cruise, as it wasn't available for testing at the time, but we'll be sure to report back once we do.

Wishing wands

A Disney Cruise Line embarkation greeting was already extremely special, but the company has dialed up the magic for kids sailing on Disney Wish. Every child that boards the ship receives a wishing wand to make a "first wish" of the trip and to wish again in the Grand Hall on the final night of the voyage. The latter even features a special appearance by none other than the ship's Fairy Godmother, who kicks off a farewell show.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

If you've visited Vanellope's Sweets & Treats Shop on Disney Dream, you already know how big children's eyes can get over the massive sundaes and sugary concoctions.

On the Wish, there's a new dessert shop called Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, where about 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream are served.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

So far, I can vouch for the PB&J and Kit Kat gelato flavors — but really, you can't go wrong with any flavor you choose. There are even a few plant-based options available.

Should you crave a cupcake instead of gelato or ice cream, you're in luck: You'll have your pick of emotion-flavored cupcakes, such as Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet) and Fear (bubble gum).

Fantastic adults-only spaces

While the kids are at the variety of clubs designed for them, adults can take advantage of spaces for the 18-and-older crowd. In fact, that's one reason why I love Disney cruises so much — the kids want to do the kids activities, which means adults get to enjoy amenities designed for us, too.

The adults-only spaces on Disney Wish are not clustered together in one area like they are on Disney's other ships. Instead, they are sprinkled throughout, with several located right next door to a kids club.

We've already talked about The Rose near Palo and Enchanté and Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, but on the same deck as the Hyperspace Lounge by the main kids club, there are two additional lounges worth noting: Nightingale's piano bar and The Bayou, a New Orleans -themed space inspired by "The Princess and the Frog."

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Both have delicious drinks, but Nightingale's offers a more upscale vibe than what you'll find at The Bayou, which features more of a full-on party setting, especially when live music is playing.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Additionally, this ship is the first in Disney's lineup to provide an outdoor space at its Senses Spa. It's an ideal place to relax while taking in the fresh sea air.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

For adults craving a pint, there is also the Keg & Compass pub, which draws inspiration from an 1800s Norwegian sailor's map room. It serves three custom craft brews you can only get on Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Lastly, there's a space made for adults seeking extra pampering beyond the spa. At the bright and airy Untangled Salon, you can treat yourself to a number of hair and nail services, including haircuts, blowouts and manicures.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

New Broadway-style shows and entertainment

Disney Wish has a full roster of new Broadway -style shows, along with several other new entertainment offerings.

On embarkation night in the Walt Disney Theatre, which now has an enchanted forest design, there is a "Disney Seas The Adventure" show that stars Captain Minnie, Goofy and other Disney and Pixar characters.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Disney Wish is also home to "A Treasure Retold – Disney The Little Mermaid," which is said to be an original Broadway-style stage adaptation of the 1989 animated movie — with a modern twist.

Additionally, the ship offers "Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular" on one night of every cruise. This show is a reimagined adaptation of the classic film, depicting it as a fast-paced musical comedy.

Don't forget to pack your eye patches and bandanas, as pirate nights are a go with a "Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party." And yes, there are pretty substantial fireworks out on deck that night.

A 'hidden' layer of magic

While it wasn't quite operational on our preview cruise, a few months ago, Disney gave TPG a sneak peek at an all-new way that guests can become a part of the story of the ship — and even control some of what happens on board — via the Disney Uncharted Adventure interactive game.

This game continues the Disney tradition of using technology to unlock new ways to tell stories. The technology may be complex, but what shines front and center is the story and the magic it creates.

Before you even leave home for your Disney cruise, you'll learn a bit about how your phone will transform into a "spyglass" from Captain Minnie herself. Then, once you are on your cruise, you'll be able to join an interactive adventure to help recover pieces of a fractured wishing star that have landed in the worlds of Moana, Peter Pan, Princess Tiana and Nemo. You can do as little or as much of this adventure as you want.

While you do need a smartphone to participate, this isn't a game you play by yourself as you stare down at your device.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Instead, this adventure for the whole family takes you all around the ship as you complete parts of the quest. Using your spyglass, you'll see menu boards transform into messages from Princess Tiana, you'll find "hidden" constellations in the sky and perhaps even bring the glass slipper to life in the Grand Hall.

Those who participate in the Uncharted Adventure game will have the ability to unlock a hidden layer of magic all around the ship. This will all conclude with a big finale on the last night of your cruise when you help battle the evilest witch in the sea in an epic live event.

How to book the Disney Wish

You can book cabins on sailings starting in August 2022. Prices start around $3,000 for double occupancy or $5,000 if sailing as a family with two adults and two kids.

If you are not in a rush to board and are looking for a more affordable price, you can book a cabin for four people in early 2023 for about $3,000 or a cabin for double occupancy for about $1,700.

Disney Wish is based out of Port Canaveral and sails a mix of three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. Each includes a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. If you want more time on the ship, you can book back-to-back cruises to create your own seven-night journey.

Related: Best credit cards for booking a cruise

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Bookings typically require 20% down, with the full amount due closer to sailing. TPG has an array of tips to save money on a Disney Cruise that you can use to keep costs under control.

You can book directly with Disney Cruise Line or via a travel agent and potentially get goodies like an onboard sailing credit . TPG also has a Disney booking partner in Mouse Counselors , should you want assistance with booking your cruise.

Bottom line

Walt Disney himself once said, "We don't look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things."

The creation of Disney Wish embodies this forward progress by charting its own path with a new style for staterooms, all-new restaurants, a different layout, additional pools, new ways to unlock "hidden magic" and more.

Disney Wish doesn't leave the past completely in its wake, though. The exterior of the ship retains that same modern classic design, and you'll still have access to beloved Disney characters, Broadway-caliber shows and entertainment on board.

Without question, Disney Wish is in a class of its own for Disney Cruise Line — at least, until the next two ships join the fleet in the coming years. I can't wait to sail it all over again.

PHOTOS: The Disney Wish Oceaneer Kids’ Club and It’s A Small World Nursery

The Oceaneer Club and Small World Nursery take up a huge portion of Deck 2 of the Disney Cruise Line Wish.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

NOTE: Effective DECEMBER 21, 2023, the age ranges for DCL youth spaces will be Oceaneer Club/Lab ages 3-10, Edge ages 11-14, Vibe ages 14-17.

It’s a Small World Nursery

It’s a Small World Nursery is available to care for guests ages six months to three years old. This is a group childcare facility – there is no in-room sitting available on the DCL ships. The fee to use the nursery is $9.00 per hour for one child and $8.00 per hour for additional children in the same family. Reservations are encouraged and can be main on the Disney Cruise Line website according to your Castaway Club status.

  • Up to 120 days in advance for concierge and Platinum-Level Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 105 days in advance for Gold-Level Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 90 days in advance for Silver-Level Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 75 days in advance for all other Guests

Reservations can also be made on onboard, pending availability. Cancellations must be made at least 4 hours prior to your reservation or you will incur substantial penalties.

Sitters will feed or change children in the nursery, according to parental instructions. If you want the sitters to feed or change your child you should provide the appropriate supplies such as diapers and wipes, baby food, or bottles of milk or formula.

The Nursery includes dedicated areas for play, napping, and changing.

(Note: For some particularly long Disney Cruise Line sailings, the age floor at the nursery is one year rather than six months. The Wish does not currently sail any of these itineraries.)

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Oceaneer Club

The Oceaneer Club is for potty-trained guests ages 3-12. Three year olds who are not potty-trained will have to stay in the Nursery. Unlike the Nursery, there is no additional charge to use the Oceaneer Club, unlimited access is included in the price of your cruise. Reservations are not required for access – kids can stay as often as you like for as long as you like. (Note: there was a period in the early post-COVID return to sailing when reservations and time limits were in place for the DCL kids’ clubs. These restrictions have ended.)

The Wish kids’ club is divided into five themed zones: Fairytale Hall (for reading, crafts, interactive games and movies), Imagineering Lab (for science games, hands-on experiements, and a virtual rollercoaster simulator), Marvel Superhero Academy (where kids can virtually create superhero costumes and virtually battle bad guys), Mickey & Minnie’s Captain’s Deck (active play equipement for preschoolers), and the Star Wars: Cargo Bay (where kids can pretend to be part of the Star Wars universe).

The various areas can be open or closed to different age groups depending on scheduled activities and the needs of the kids on each sailing. There are Open House hours when kids can play with their parents and adults can tour the area. Some character greetings are scheduled in the Marvel and Star Wars zones when these areas are closed to kids. They make for excellent photo backgrounds!

Hours and activities vary daily. Check the DCL Navigator app when you’re on board.

Even the hand washing stations (like automated car washes for your hands) and rest rooms are super fun. There are no “boys” and “girls” rooms. Instead, there are toilets in several sizes, appropriate for the range of children in the Club, each with their own compartment with a solid door.

The Club and be accessed via elevator, stairs, or a slide that runs from the Grand Hall atrium to the check-in area. Kids and adults can use any of these methods.

Disney Wish Oceaneer Club Gets Two New Experiences

by Kyle Johnson | Oct 7, 2021 | Disney Cruise Line , Disney Cruise Line News , Disney Wish

disney-wish-oceaneer-club-star-wars-mickey-minnie-experiences-featured_disney-parks-blog

Check out these two new experiences for the Disney Wish’s Oceaneer Club.

The Disney Wish sets sail next June , and it’s looking like it’s going to be a must-do for all ages. With two new experiences for kids announced on Thursday , you’ve got even more reason to start clearing your schedule and book your cruise on the Disney Wish.

[metaslider id=”50088″]

Disney Wish Gets Star Wars: Cargo Bay Interactive Experience

Thursday at Disney Parks Blog, Disney Signature Experiences PR Manager Evily Giannopoulos Peros dropped some big news —and a cool new video, which you can see above.

When the Disney Wish takes to the high seas next spring, kids will have two awesome experiences to look forward to in the reimagined Oceaneer Club .

Star Wars: Cargo Bay transports kiddos ages 3–12 to a galaxy far, far away by way of the ocean. Peros calls SW: Cargo Bay a “first-of-its-kind immersive experience,” putting your kid in the critical role of creature handler .

As a handler of unusual beings, your kids will have to stay on top of everything from porgs to Loth-cats to wortts. They’ll use datapads to study each of these creatures and prep them for a very important mission.

Joining these creatures on that mission? Why, the Resistance’s own Rey and Chewbacca . And when things get tough, your little one may even need to tap into the power of the Force .

Meet Mickey and Minnie at the Captain’s Deck

disney-wish-oceaneer-club-mickey-minnie-captains-deck_disney-parks-blog

And what would a Disney cruise be without the OGs? Mickey and Minnie Mouse both make an impactful appearance aboard the Disney Wish at the Captain’s Deck .

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck includes tons of hands-on games and activities for kids —all with a nautical theme. The experience changes throughout the trip, opening up to full group play with families and reserving time for toddlers .

The heart of Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is Minnie’s Captain Academy . Unlike your average boot camp, Captain Academy includes games, dancing, and brainteasers tied to the STEAM fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. At the end, successful cadets become honorary captain s.

And there’s plenty for adults to do, too. Whether it’s a romantic cruise for two or a trip for the whole family, Disney Wish looks like a can’t-miss . Bookings are open now , so drop your anchor and stake your claim!

Unveiling the Disney Wish Cruise Ship – A Complete Guide to a Magical Cruise

Sharing is caring!

After many years with no new Disney Cruise ships, suddenly the fleet is undergoing a huge expansion.

Disney Wish was launched in 2022 and is the very first of the new Disney Cruise Ships.

She is certainly the most stunningly beautiful of the Disney Ships.

disney wish cruise ship

But she isn’t for everybody.

But most definitely she is stunningly beautiful, brilliantly themed, packed with things to do, and perhaps the most adult-pleasing Disney Cruise ship at sea.

Having sailed with Disney for almost two decades here is my guide to Disney Wish.

From staterooms to food, kids clubs to adult spaces, entertainment, and port stops, you will find it here.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

Disney wish verandah staterooms, disney wish concierge, restaurants, main rotational dining rooms, arendelle: a frozen dining experience, worlds of marvel restaurant, 1923 on disney wish, adult restaurants on disney wish, casual dining experiences, marceline market, mickey and friends festival of foods, room service, bars on disney wish, disney wish pools, disney wish adult pool deck, the aquamouse, sports and fitness, the spa on disney wish, entertainment, pirate night.

  • It's a Small World Nursery

Oceaneer Club

Edge and vibe for tweens and teens, shopping on board, where does disney wish sail, disney wish 3 night bahamian cruise, disney wish 4 night bahamian cruise, final thoughts.

Disney Wish sails 3 and 4-night itineraries from Port Canaveral Florida.

All sailings have port stops in Nassau and Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay.

The 4-night sailings have an extra Day at Sea.

After you have decided that you want to sail on Disney Wish, the most important decision that you need to make is which stateroom to choose.

Just like many modern cruise ships, Disney Wish has a high proportion of Verandah and Oceanview staterooms.

We can also see that Disney has dramatically increased the number of Concierge Staterooms to a total of 76.

  • 1,254 staterooms (includes 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites)
  • 948 verandah staterooms (70%)
  • 185 oceanview staterooms (20%)
  • 121 inside staterooms (10%)
  • Inside Staterooms

You can snag an Inside Stateroom, but these makeup just 10% of the total of the cabins onboard.

I have sailed in the Inside staterooms and they are fine.

disney wish inside stateroom

More than fine.

They have everything you need and if you want to get the lowest price to actually sail on the ship, then usually an Inside Stateroom is the way to go.

The Standard Inside Staterooms are the smallest on the ship.

They have 169 Square Feet of space. Each stateroom will sleep either 3 or 4 guests.

Disney Wish Inside Staterooms are either Category 11A, 11B or 11C.

The Category 11A staterooms are located on Decks 9, 10 and 11. The Category 11B is on Decks 6,7 and 8.

The 11C staterooms are on Deck 2. These staterooms are particularly convenient for the Oceaneer Club and It’s A Small World Nursery.

They are also just steps away from the Walt Disney Theatre.

Disney Wish Inside Staterooms Ultimate Guide

There are a total of 185 Oceanview staterooms on Disney Wish.

These are highly sought after as they offer a view to the outside, but will usually be at a lower price point than the verandah staterooms.

Each one offers 213 square feet of space. And all are Category 9 staterooms.

There are 948 Verandah Staterooms on the Disney Wish. Highly sought after, for good reason, as they offer a balcony where you can enjoy your own private outside space.

Note that there are two different types of Verandah Stateroom on Disney Wish:

  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
  • Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

The Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah sleeps either 3 or 4 guests and has 243 square feet of space.

The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah sleeps up to 5 guests and has 284 square feet of space.

Disney Wish has the largest amount of Concierge Staterooms of any of the fleet.

They are located on Deck 12 and 13. They all have exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge and Sun Deck.

The Treasure and the third Triton Class ship will have the same number.

  • Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom
  • Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah
  • Concierge One Bedroom Suites with Verandah
  • Royal Suites
  • The Tower Suite

The Disney Wish saw the introduction of a very unique space – The Tower Suite.

This is sometimes referred to as the Funnel Suite – because it is housed inside the second, decorative funnel on the ship.

Related: Disney Wish Tower Suite Price

Just like all the Disney ships the Wish has various types of dining:

  • Rotational Dining Rooms
  • Adult Only Fine Dining Restaurants
  • Casual Dining

Disney Cruise ships have a unique approach to their main dining restaurants. Rotational Dining.

What is Rotational Dining?

Each guest will “rotate” around each of the three main dining rooms so they will dine in each restaurant at least once.

Your dining servers come with you – so that they get the best chance to know how to give you the best experience.

disneywishcruisemarvelrestaurant

The 3 dining rooms on Disney Wish are:

  • Worlds of Marvel

The back story for the Arendelle Restaurant is that it is Anna and Kristoff’s engagement party.

which is held in a wing of Queen Elsa’s Arendelle Castle.

As you would expect there will be songs and dancing, as well as visits by your favorite characters.

disneyarendellerestaurant

The entertainment and design features are Disney at its best. Look at the paintings on the wall, the details on the tables, the furniture, the overall interior design.

Unfortunately, it has one big issue.

The show, which is performed on a stage in the middle of the dining room, is very entertaining.

However, most people have difficulty seeing it. Indeed some people cannot possibly see it because of where their tables are situated.

And the tables are very close together. Don’t expect a quiet dining experience here.

But I don’t want to dwell on the negative.

Most people still love the experience.

The show, and indeed the menu are very good. I just wish there was a bit more space.

Related: Complete Review of Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Experience.

This is another of the rotational dining experience restaurants on the ship.

The restaurant is divided up into 2 identical sides, and these spaces are divided up into smaller “rooms’ with screens on the walls.

Disney Wish Worlds of Marvel Menu

There are enough screens so that no matter which table you are seated at, you will get a good view.

It’s a bit like Animator’s Palate on the other Disney ships – except the tables are closer together (yes this is a thing on Disney Wish).

The thing that you will immediately notice is the large centerpiece on your table.

This is the Quantum Core, which as Ant-Man will explain, can shrink down or increase the size of any object.

The show is a lot of fun and will keep you entertained.

For many guests on Disney Wish, including me, 1923 is a favorite.

The most sophisticated and most grown-up of the Wish restaurants, it is divided up into 2 halves. One side is named after Walt Disney and the other side for his brother Roy Disney.

wish1923menu

Space here doesn’t seem quite as tight as in the other restaurants.

Take some time to look around and see the huge collection of Disney memorabilia here.

Remember that you can also have a sit-down breakfast and lunch in 1923. This is a great alternative to the Marceline Market buffet.

Disney Wish 1923 Review

Disney Wish has a large area devoted to the 2 adult restaurants:

  • Palo Steakhouse

This whole area, which includes The Rose Bar, is themed for Beauty and the Beast

Even if you don’t make it to the restaurants, try and take some time to look at the fabulous theming in this area.

For anyone who has already sailed on a Disney ship you probably already know that each one has Palo. On Disney Wish, the menu is slightly different and the restaurant is named Palo Steakhouse.

Disney Wish Palo Brunch

As you would expect, there is more of an emphasis on offering a wider choice of steak here. However, there are still plenty of other choices on the menu.

Brunch is offered on Sea Days and Dinner is offered every evening. There is a charge of $50 for each, and there are a la carte options available for dinner.

Disney Wish Palo Steakhouse – An Honest Review

If it is exceptional dining you are looking for on Disney Wish then try and snag a reservation for Enchante.

disneywishenchante

There are 3 different dining experiences:

  • Enchante Brunch
  • Enchante Just Desserts
  • Enchante Dinner

This is very much a fine dining experience well worth stretching the budget for.

disneytreasurecruiseship

Disney Treasure – What Will She Be Like?

You will never go hungry on a Disney Cruise. There are plenty of casual dining experiences to choose from.

Every Disney Cruise Ship has a buffet, and on the Wish, this is called Marceline Market.

It is open for breakfast and lunch.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Unlike many other cruise lines, Disney does not have a buffet option for dinner.

The buffet used to be open on the older ships before the pandemic, but it doesn’t look as though this feature is coming back any time soon.

This is a great feature of Disney Wish which can be found on Deck 11 Forward. The theme is inspired by the original Mickey Mouse animated short movies.

This really steps up the quick-service dining options on any of the Disney ships. There are lots of different options so each family member can have entirely different food options:

  • Donald’s Cantina – serving Mexican food.
  • Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue
  • Daisy’s Pizza Pies
  • Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream
  • Goofy’s Grill

If you find that you need more food late in the evening then Daisy’s Pizza Pies stays open until 11 pm. Perfect for that late-night pizza fix.

disney wish festival of foods

Don’t forget the included self-service ice cream. You can also get a Dole Whip (and you can even get one with rum) for an extra charge.

Looking for something even sweeter? Check out Inside Out: Joyful Sweets which has a lot of extra charge options for a sweet tooth!

Want to order a light snack to your room? Coffee and pastries for breakfast?

Disney Wish has an extensive Room Service Menu with most of the items available at no extra charge. Make sure that you don’t forget to tip your Room Service Attendant.

  • Hyperspace Lounge
  • Luna Lounge
  • Keg and Compass
  • Nightingale’s
  • The Rose Bar

Whether you’re in the mood for a tropical cocktail or a glass of wine, there is a bar on the Disney Wish that will suit your needs.

From the elegant and sophisticated Rose Bar to the Star Wars fan dream location, Hyperspace Lounge , you will find the bar that you are looking for on Disney Wish.

disneywishstarwarsbar

Of all of the Disney ships, the Wish has some of the most innovative drinks menus. I am not just talking about the Kailburr Crystal Cocktail in Hyperspace Lounge which has a $5,000 price tag (and a visit to Skywalker Ranch included).

On Disney Wish the bartenders go above and beyond to recommend or create a cocktail or drink that you are going to enjoy.

Many of the bar locations are family-friendly and children are welcome. But you will also find many quiet spaces which are definitely out of bounds to the little ones.

The Disney Wish Pool Deck is very different from any of the older ships in the fleet.

This difference is somewhat controversial and certainly has sparked some criticism, particularly of the adult space.

disneywishpools

There are four pools on Deck 11:

  • Mickey’s Pool
  • Minnie’s Pool
  • Daisy’s Pool
  • Pluto’s Pool

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

Here you will find Disney movies playing for most of the day. For a schedule of the movies just look at your Navigator’s App.

Deck 11 is also where you will find Marceline Market and Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods.

There are two pools on Deck 12:

  • Donald’s Pool
  • Goofy’s Pool

disneyplutowishpool

These pools have a view of Funnel Vision.

and in addition:

  • Toy Story Splash Zone
  • Trixie’s Falls

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

On Deck 13 you will find:

  • The Quiet Cove Pool
  • Quiet Cove Whirlpool
  • Aqua Mouse Entrance
  • Cove Bar and Cafe
  • Adult-Only Pool Deck

This is for over 18’s only.

You will also find the Concierge Pool Deck on Deck 13.

The adult pool deck on Disney Wish has certainly sparked a lot of controversy and comment – with not everyone being a fan of the design.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

There is a fabulous infinity pool at the aft of the ship, but it is small. And the seating area around it is also small.

There is just one hot tub and this is in a slightly strange place which is at the side of the adult area, away from the pool.

Related article: Disney Wish Pool Deck – Hit or Miss?

Billed as the very first Disney attraction at sea, the AquaMouse is very similar to the AquaDuck on Disney Dream and Fantasy.

Board a raft for up to two people, and journey through the twists and turns of this innovative attraction.

This water ride combines views of the ocean, with innovative storytelling as you travel through the 760 feet of tubes.

It is fun rather than scary. There is a minimum height requirement of  42”  and guests must be 48” tall to ride their raft alone.

This is a popular attraction and lines do build up quickly. Try to ride at quieter times such as on embarkation day, port days, and particularly Castaway Cay day.

There are plenty of opportunities to burn off the extra calories from all the amazing food you will be enjoying.

As with all the Disney ships, there is a fully equipped gym. This is located on Deck 5 of Disney Wish.

There are plenty of exercise machines and free weights. You can also sign up for classes, some of which do have a fee.

Unlike the other Disney ships, you cannot walk around the ship on the promenade deck in a continuous loop.

If you want to use this as a running or walking track and go in a loop, you do have to change levels and walk up and down the steps. This isn’t ideal and is one of the things that some people are critical of in the design of Disney Wish.

Here is a very new concept for a Disney Ship – Hero Zone.

The Hero Zone is more than just a sports complex; it’s a huge inflatable obstacle course based around the Characters from the Pixar Incredibles movies.

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

This innovative space also offers more conventional sports activities including basketball, soccer, table tennis, air hockey, foosball, and shuffleboard.

It is also here that you will find the incredibly popular Jack Jack’s Diaper Dash. Inspired by the youngest member of the Parr family from the movie, this is where Disney races babies!

If you have a baby who cannot yet walk but can crawl, you can race them against their fellow baby passengers. This is one of the most entertaining events on all of the Disney ships!

The Senses Spa on the Disney Wish offers a variety of treatments and services designed to help guests relax and rejuvenate during their Disney Cruise vacation.

The Senses Spa on the Disney Wish is a tranquil oasis, offering a range of spa treatments and services to help guests unwind and de-stress. Guests can indulge in a variety of treatments, including massages, facials, body wraps, and manicures.

The spa also features a Rainforest Room, which includes a variety of steam rooms, saunas, and showers, as well as heated loungers and a hydrotherapy pool. This is one of my very favorite places on Disney Wish.

The Rainforest Room on Disney Wish is unlike any of the others on a Disney ship because it has a very distinct outside area.

On the classic ships, the area is entirely inside, and on Disney Dream and Fantasy the Rainforest is open to the outside air, but you do not go outside.

rainforestroomdisneywish

The Rainforest on Disney Wish is both inside and out. Some people are not a fan of the fact that people can look down on the outside area from the deck above, but this honestly didn’t bother me at all.

Whether you’re looking to pamper yourself on your Disney vacation or simply relax and unwind, the Senses Spa on the Disney Wish is the perfect place to do so.

Disney Wish Senses Spa Menu

If you want to indulge in some hair treatments go to the Tangled Salon or Hooks Barbery.

You will never be short of entertainment on your Disney Cruise.

You can do as much or as little as you want to, but there are plenty of activities throughout the day to keep you busy if you want to join in.

You will never be short of entertainment on your Disney Cruise. You can do as much or as little as you want to, but there are plenty of activities throughout the day to keep you busy if you want to join in.

  • Cooking Demonstrations
  • Craft Activities
  • Expert Talks
  • Character Greetings

One very popular activity for the adults is the Beverage Tastings.

disneywish1923 drinks

These reservation-only activities are scheduled every day and are available to book before your cruise, as well as on board.

Complete Guide to Beverage Tastings

A highlight of any Disney Cruise is the entertainment including the Broadway Quality shows in the Walt Disney Theatre.

You will find these shows on Disney Wish:

  • Disney Seas the Adventure
  • The Little Mermaid
  • Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular

You will get the chance to see these shows as each plays twice at a time that fits in with your dinner seating.

Until you have seen a show onboard a Disney Cruise you really can’t fully appreciate just how high quality the productions are.

If you wanted to experience something like this on land you would be paying hundreds of dollars for tickets. On a Disney Cruise, the entertainment is included.

There are two performances each night at the Walt Disney Theatre. The schedules are built around your rotational dining times so if you have early dinner you will go to the late show, and if you have late dining, you will go to the early show.

One of the highlights of a Disney Cruise in the Bahamas and Caribbean (and certain other select sailings) is Pirate Night.

If you are on a 4-night sailing you will have a different Pirate Night menu in the rotational restaurant that you are dining in that evening.

If you are sailing on a 3-night cruise you will not have the separate Pirate Night menu.

Here is a  Complete Guide to Pirate Night.

A lot of people dress up for Pirate Night and join in with the theme!

Disney Pirate Night’s Best Outfits

KIDS CLUBS ON DISNEY WISH

As you would expect, the kid’s clubs on the ship are an excellent facility for all ages from 6 months to age 17.

There are different spaces on all of the Disney Cruise Ships for children of all ages.

From the Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12 to the Edge Club for tweens and the Vibe Club for teens, there’s something for everyone.

A unique feature of the Disney Wish is that kids (and adults if you want to) can slide down to the kid’s clubs from the side of the Deck 3 Grand Hall.

Kids can enjoy games, crafts, and music, and even meet some of their favorite Disney characters.

And the best part?

Parents can enjoy some time alone while their kids are having an amazing time in the clubs. You may find it difficult to get your kids to leave.

It’s a Small World Nursery

Disney Cruise Lines is one of the few cruise lines to offer a nursery for the under 3’s.

disney wish its a small world nursery

Unlike the other kid’s clubs, you do have to book this ahead of time and there is an hourly fee, but it is a great opportunity for parents with very young children to have a break.

Related: A Complete Guide to It’s a Small World Nursery

The Oceaneer Club is designed for children ages 3 to 12 and features interactive games, toys, and theming inspired by beloved Disney characters.

Even if you don’t have children make sure that you go and look around at one of the Open Houses that they have every day.

The space is spectacular!

disney wish cruise oceaneer club

There are several distinct spaces in The Oceaneer Club:

  • Fairytale Hall
  • Marvel Superhero Academy
  • Star Wars: Cargo Bay
  • Walt Disney Imagineering Lab
  • Mickey and Minnie’s Captains Deck

Older kids and teens will love Edge and Vibe, the dedicated spaces for tweens and teens on the Disney Wish.

Edge is designed for kids ages 11 to 14 and features a New York City loft-inspired design with hangouts like The Hideaway and The Tower. It is located on Deck 5, aft.

disney wish teen club

Vibe is designed for teens ages 14 to 17 and features a more sophisticated design with spaces like The Hub and The Club.

Both clubs have programming like movie nights, entertainment, and other themed activities.

Overall, the kids clubs on Disney Wish are top-notch and offer something for every age group.

If you love shopping, then you are going to enjoy sailing on Disney Wish.S

She offers more shopping square footage than any of the other Disney ships.

Some, including me, would say that there is rather too much space devoted to stores on Disney Wish, but if you love Disney merch, and high-end shopping this is going to be paradise for you.

Here is a list of stores onboard Disney Wish:

  • 3 Wishes (Deck 3)
  • Enchanted Castle Jewels (Deck 3)
  • Once Upon a Time (Deck 3)
  • Royal Regalia (Deck 3)
  • Treasures Untold (Deck 3)
  • Mickey’s Mainsail (Deck 5)
  • Don’t Forget Me Knots (Deck 11)

The shops onboard Disney Wish are the largest and have the most ship-exclusive merchandise of the whole fleet.

Whether you want a mug a high-end bag or a jewelry item, you will find it here.

Related: Where are Disney Ships Sailing in 2025?

Disney Wish isn’t for everyone.

In all my years of experience with Disney Cruises, she is the most controversial ship to date – although I am guessing that Disney Adventure is going to take this crown when she is launched.

Disney Wish is stunning.

She wins the prize for most beautiful in the Disney Cruise fleet.

But there are some definite issues.

The rotational dining restaurants. 1923 is a standout in the Disney fleet.

But really and honestly. The tables are far too close together in the restaurants.

1923 is not so bad, but Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle are just really not big enough. The idea is there but unless you get certain tables in Arendelle you are going to be frustrated.

Disney Treasure and the third Triton ship are also going to have this problem.

And the adult area. Good idea but bad execution.

There simply is not enough space in and around that fabulous infinity pool in the adult area. I want to say otherwise, but it’s just not enough.

However, the pool deck in general is great because it splits up the areas so much better than any of the other Disney ships.

I think that Disney Wish has the best bars of any Disney Cruise ship. The innovative cocktails and experiences are a whole level up from the other ships.

The kid’s clubs are just amazing. As an adult I am enthusiastic about the kid’s spaces, so can you imagine if you were an actual kid??

Disney Wish is a truly magnificent ship and you will experience the unsurpassed quality of entertainment and service on board that DCL is so well known for.

What do you think of Disney Wish?

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck:

  • Specially designed for the youngest sailors at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is a nautical playground inspired by the colors, icons and magic of Disney Cruise Line.
  • This brand-new space will be filled with an array of maritime-themed physical and sensory-style games and activities, such as pipe slides and crawl-throughs, ship’s wheels, “busy boxes” fashioned as ship controls and cushy life preserver seating areas.

Fun for Tweens and Teens

There are two clubs specifically designed for older kids, with Disney fun at a more sophisticated level.

  • Tweens ages 11 to 14 years old can play games and make new friends in a bright, colorful hangout inspired by a chic New York City loft.

  • Teens ages 14 to 17 years old have their own dedicated club on the Disney Wish. Called Vibe, this stylish space is inspired by a French artists’ loft with classic architecture, vibrant neon signs and funk pop art, including a selfie-worthy Mickey Mouse statue.

Tour of Walt Disney Imagineering Lab on the Disney Wish – Disney’s Oceaneer Club (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

During our Disney Wish media preview cruise, we stopped by Disney’s Oceaneer Club to check out some of the spaces for kids aged 3-12 – especially the new Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, which is a brand-new location where kids will engage in hands-on activities and learn about Imagineering. It is just one of a number of themed areas. Here are photos and video from the tour we took through the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab!

Artwork of various Disney characters is on the wall that says “Walt Disney Imagineering Lab”.

Here is our full video tour with Walt Disney Imagineer Lauren.

The Walt Disney Imagineering logo with Sorcerer Mickey is above the hand washing machines. I am not sure why Disney hasn’t put these hand washing machines all over the ship (it’s like a spa for the hands).

The Walt Disney Imagineering lab is spacious with desks and chairs, along with real props and more around the room. Lauren said that it is the “First-ever celebration of Walt Disney Imagineering for kids aboard a cruise ship”. She said that kids will experience what it is like to be an Imagineer, and “hopefully get interested in some STEM fields”.

There is a 3D model of Cinderella Castle in the case.

There is also artwork and more.

These are authentic safety vests and hard hats. Lauren explained that the brown hard hat started when a contractor provided a wooden hard hat to an Imagineer with their name on top. “And it became a badge of honor. Now every Imagineer receives the brown hard hat and it’s a sign that you’ve arrived as an Imagineer”.

Lauren told us that these are authentic props from creations of attractions. I did ask how they will keep everything in place, and apparently the items are secured very well.

This is from Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy at Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris as well as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT (the latter opened in 2021).

The 7 best cruise ships for kids

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers.

Kids can make or break your family cruise. If they’re bored and hate the food options, they will loudly and repeatedly express their displeasure. Pick the wrong cruise ship, and parents will feel as trapped as if they were stranded on a deserted island … with biting crabs underfoot.

The best cruises for kids take advantage of ships with endless fun for the under-18 crowd, plentiful dining that appeals to both young palates and bottomless teen tummies, accommodations and ship services that keep families in mind, and opportunities to meet and hang out with peers. No matter your family size or price range, you can find some incredible vacations at sea that will have kids exclaiming, “Best cruise ever!” by the end of the week.

Disney Wish

No one is surprised that kids are highly entertained on a Disney cruise — but what might be surprising is how much there is for adults to do and enjoy , too. That’s especially true on the new Disney Wish , which debuted in the summer of 2022.

Disney Wish has four kids clubs divided by age, but the main Oceaneer Club for 3- to 12-year-olds has an all-new and exciting grand entrance. Kids get to enter the club by slide — and once inside, can explore the club’s spaces themed to “Star Wars,” fairy tales, Marvel and Disney Imagineers.

Along with the kids club on Disney Wish, junior cruisers will find two movie theaters with first-run Disney movies, Broadway-caliber shows featuring Aladdin and the Little Mermaid and dining experiences themed around Arendelle from “Frozen” and the Worlds of Marvel .

In addition to a “Star Wars-” themed bar and adults-only fine dining restaurants, adults will appreciate the little touches on Wish that make family cruising easier — split bathrooms in most cabins, a drop-off nursery, a splash area for toddlers and restaurant staff members who will offer high chairs and puree baby food.

Disney Wish sails short three- and four-night trips from Port Canaveral , Florida (near Orlando) that include a stop at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island , with its family beach, supervised child care, splash pad and strollers to borrow.

A nearly identical sister ship, Disney Treasure , will debut in 2024.

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas

It hasn’t even launched yet, and we’re already confident that Royal Caribbean ‘s new Icon of the Seas , soon to be the largest ship afloat, will be one of the top cruise ships for kids. Kids will never be bored on a ship with a six-slide water park, wild ropes course, surf simulator, rock-climbing wall, sports court and Surfside — a half deck of play spaces and restaurants devoted to little kids and their families.

Kids (and parents) who like a good show can gasp as ice skaters land jumps on a rocking ship, and acrobatic divers flip and splash in the AquaTheater, now up high on the ship under a glass dome. Don’t miss pizza and parades on the Royal Promenade, Icon’s indoor shopping strip.

The ship will also have innovative new family cabins and suites, some with separate kids’ rooms, to better accommodate guests of all ages. The Ultimate Family Townhouse will be a massive three-floor living space with a screening room, karaoke machine, in-suite slide and a backyard that leads out to the Surfside family neighborhood.

Icon of the Seas will sail weeklong Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning in January 2024.

Norwegian Encore

Norwegian Encore has a more grown-up vibe than many of the family-focused ships on our list, but its onboard attractions make it a huge hit with teens. Its top decks lure older kids with one of the biggest go-kart tracks in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet and an open-air laser tag arena ideal for shooting matches under the stars. A huge virtual reality playground features rides and games that blow the standard cruise ship arcade out of the water.

Note to parents: Cruiselong passes for the go-kart race track , virtual reality games and laser tag do not come cheap. Be prepared to pull out your wallet to keep the teens happy.

At night, teens can feed their growing bodies with tacos, hibachi and barbecue, plus 24/7 burgers and comfort food at The Local. Afterward, they’ll agree to be seen in public with their parents at a show as cool as “Choir of Man.” It’s an easy concession, as they know they can always escape to the teen club, Entourage, to hang out with the cool kids late at night.

Norwegian Encore spends its summers in Alaska and winters in the Caribbean, with a handful of Panama Canal and Pacific Coast sailings in between.

Carnival Celebration

Passengers and crew members on Carnival Cruise Line ships come ready to meet new friends or share a laugh, a story and a drink with their shipmates. Social kids will fit right in and love the line’s huge, new ship Carnival Celebration . They can make friends at the Family Harbor Lounge, Camp Ocean and Dr. Seuss Bookville; older kids will enjoy the teen and tween clubs conveniently located near Guy Fieri’s burger stand and the video arcade.

Carnival Celebration and its near-identical twin fleet mate, Mardi Gras , are the only cruise ships boasting a top-deck roller coaster called Bolt. (That is until a third sister, Carnival Jubilee, debuts in late 2023.) A ride here is Instagram gold and the ultimate bragging rights for kids on vacation. The coaster dominates the Ultimate Playground area of the ship, where young cruisers can challenge their new friends to miniature golf, waterslide races, basketball and ropes course domination.

Kids who love a good food court can meet up with friends or family at several no-fee, casual eateries, including Shaq’s Big Chicken restaurant and a trio of Street Eats venues featuring dumplings, meat on a stick and loaded French fries. All-hours pizza and ice cream will keep the whole family fueled up for the interactive “Family Feud Live” show.

Related: The ultimate guide to Carnival Cruise Line ships and itineraries

Carnival Celebration sails weeklong Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami. Its sister Mardi Gras sails similar Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral, Florida (near Orlando). Carnival Jubilee will be based out of Galveston, Texas, and offer seven-night Western Caribbean cruises only.

Sun Princess

It may seem odd that two of our top ships for kids haven’t debuted yet. However, like Icon of the Seas, Princess Cruises ‘ new 4,300-passenger Sun Princess will be heads and shoulders above the rest of the fleet in terms of family entertainment. If you’re booking a multigenerational family cruise for 2024 or beyond, you will definitely want to keep this ship in mind.

Sun Princess will be the first Princess cruise ship to feature an expansive upper-deck activity zone that kids will love. Named Park19, it will feature nine fun-in-the-sun activities spanning three decks. The attractions include the Sea Breeze Rollglider (imagine a safer version of hang-gliding from an elevated track), a climbing structure with obstacles and a slide, a ropes course, a splash zone and a sports court.

Inside the ship, Firefly Park will have drop-off kid programming and family play spaces for kids 6 months to 7 years old. Tweens and teens will each have their own hangouts, Neon Grove and The Underground, with cozy lounge furniture and plenty of video and other games.

Related: Which cruise ship cabin category should your family book?

Sun Princess will split its time between Mediterranean cruises out of Civitavecchia (the port for Rome), Piraeus (the port for Athens) and Barcelona as well as Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale.

MSC Seascape

MSC Cruises ‘ MSC Seascape is a floating megaresort with something for every type of kid. The ship stands out from its sisters because of its Robotron amusement park-style ride . Three riders at a time buckle into seating attached to a robotic arm, which then twists and turns to fly the riders over the ship and sea.

Water babies will make a break for the Pirates Cove Aquapark, with slides, a splash zone and a rope bridge. Other kids might spend their parents’ money on more virtual fun, indulging in F1 race car simulators, VR motorcycle racing, a 4D movie theater and a video arcade. Family groups can split into teams for sports court competitions or participate in organized games that rely on the latest technology to challenge guests of all ages.

The ship’s Lego-themed Doremi Land kids club has dedicated spaces for babies, kids and teens. The 7,567-square-foot space includes two Lego rooms (one for little kids to play with Duplos, the other with regular Lego bricks for older kids); the area also includes three spaces for teens — a gaming area (with VR options), a hangout with ping pong and foosball and a dance club.

And let’s not forget the line’s amazing pizza (including dessert versions slathered in Nutella) that families are sure to love.

MSC Seascape sails seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami.

AmaWaterways’ AmaLea

The typical river cruise draws a lot of retirees — except when Adventures by Disney partners with AmaWaterways. The two travel companies have created a river cruise vacation that is fun for grown-ups and kids.

AmaLea is one of the ships AmaWaterways custom-built for these family cruises. Certain twin balcony cabins sleep three, and suites sleep four to accommodate kids, with connecting cabin options for families who need more space. Unlike many river ships, AmaLea has a pool, as well as a surprise kid hit — giant outdoor chess.

While other ships sail the Seine and Rhine rivers, AmaLea travels the Danube through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Adventures by Disney makes the most of your time with shore excursions planned to entertain kids and adults, with options for supervised kid activities while parents head out on more grown-up tours. Your family might meet farm animals in Hungary, play hide-and-seek in a palace’s labyrinth maze in Austria and hang around in a treetop playground in Germany.
