Probably one of the best snorkel tours I've been on. Small group 8 people, none of which were annoying. Cpt Galle was great both in English and Spanish, funny and informative. Got to see Blue and Fin whales, multiple dolphin pods. Snorkel sights were good and bonus was swimming with the sea lions.

Another 5 stars! This was the best thing I've done in years. Our family group of 5 rode in a small boat to Coronado Island, piloted by Nicke (don't know how it's spelled, but is pronounced Neek-ay). We filled the boat so didn't have to have strangers ride with us and were very pleased about that. Nicke stopped and we got out & snorkeled at 3 different spots around the island. The first was the most spectacular underwater: Smooth, flat-side, house-sized boulders falling away from the island into the deepest blue depths, fish, all over, different kinds. Me just hanging in crystal clear water 70 feet deep... I haven't seen so many colorful & interesting fish since I was on the Red Sea as a kid. Nicke was so cool & didn't rush us. I could see other boats coming and going but we were here for around 1.5 hours and not made to hurry. It was so beautiful underwater that no-one wanted to move on. The next stop was a sea lion colony. This was an all-male colony; no females to fight over, so we were told we could safely swim with them - and we were not expecting THAT! Never dreamed I would have an opportunity to do such a thing! But we did and it was incredible. These are massive sea lions, not little seals. They were curious & swam all around each of us, and underneath, swirling and staring with their huge soft eyes, staying juuuust out of arms reach. It felt like an impossible dream. Nicke called us "the brave family" when we got out of the water here; I guess we got a little close to the sea lions. Again, other tour boats were coming & going but we were not rushed by our guide. The last snorkel spot was not as splendidly dramatic underwater as the first, but it was every bit as beautiful and had "tropical" fish everywhere. It was beautiful in a different way; you can't believe the colors you're seeing, the different shades of green and everything is close up, right in front of you, because it is much shallower. By the time were were done here, we were getting tired. Nicke took us to a clean sand beach with classic "perfect beach" turquoise water, set up an umbrella for shade and we lay around for an hour, till we were ready to go. And we were ready, it was a big day. Here he broke out some lunch and we ate every bit of it. If you are expecting cuisine at this juncture, you'd better bring it yourself. It wasn't fancy & there wasn't a lot of it, but that wasn't the point of the trip. We weren't there for a boat-ride & lunch. We got to spend hours snorkeling a world- class environment & swimming with wild sea lions for just over $10 an hour per person, an incredible value. Nicke did say that it was the best time of the year (fall) for clear water & visibility. I live 2 hours from here, near the beach, and will be returning to do THIS again with my Go-pro. If you don't have one, borrow one. You will want to remember this beautiful experience for a long time.

We had a wonderful tour with Aurea as our guide. At one point we were surrounded with orcas all around our boat. It was absolutely amazing. After a bit our boat driver took us out further and we were able to watch a blue whale surface and dive all around us. It was a day to remember forever. Cannot say enough good things about our tour.

We took a mesquite canyon tour with Luis and 10/10 recommend. The tour was challenging in that you had to scale/climb a little bit, but that was only a small part of the trip and being both inside and then on top of the canyon is really cool to see. Luis also had lots of fun facts about the wildlife and plants while we were trekking.

Carlos was magnificent as a tour guide and boat captain! He took us on a whale, watching trip that the whole family enjoyed. The best part wasn't just seeing blue whales, fin, whales, and humpbacks, but that Carlos was so excited to see them as well. I appreciate how easy it was to reschedule due to weather and that they reached out to us regularly to make sure we got there on time.

I was really looking forward to this whale watching tour, but to my dismay they put me, an obvious Gringo, in a boat with just a couple from Mexico City and a captain who spoke no English. There was no guide, and no commentary along the way. The Mexican couple conversed with the captain but no one made any effort to translate for me. I felt like I only got half of what I paid for - the whale watching but not the tour! VERY disappointing! So word of caution, if you take this tour make SURE you are in a boat with a GOOD GUIDE!!!

Definitely recommend this tour! If you plan on using this service be sure to request Daniel. He exceeded our expectations, provided great insight for Loreto and was able to provide thoughtful and fun recommendations throughout our time with him. Our group of 10 headed to Isla Coronado where we had an awesome dolphin encounter. Daniel went out of his way and we ended up spending 30min playing with the dolphins. We had a great time and look forward to using these services once again.

My friend and I just returned from Mexico where we experienced the best cave/wall painting tour . Our guide Huvé was very knowledgeable and passionate .he knew SO much about the history of the area. As we hiked to our destination he would stop hiking periodically and discuss the local flora..the painting were fascinating and there was the bonus of some petroglyphs close by. Thousands of years old! Unbelievable.fir us this was an unforgettable day.

They were fantastic. My husband and I went to Isla Coronado one day and Isla Danzante two days later, with Tours Loreto, and had a great time. We were the only ones on each trip (I think because we weren't diving), but that was great, because our captains were able to tailor the trips to us. The boat trip to Isla Coronado was about 25 minutes, and beautiful the whole way. Noë, our captain, was easy to talk to (fluent English and a good conversationalist, super friendly), and knew a lot of fascinating information about the area. Kept pointing out different sites and animals and telling us about them. He stopped alongside the island at a spot where snorkeling is good, showed us how to get in the water, and helped when we needed it. I enjoyed the snorkeling, but didn't feel like staying too long, and my husband was weirded out by breathing underwater, so we went around to the beach side. The beach was stunning. Crystal clear water, perfectly aquamarine, with lots of little yellow striped fish all around us. It was fun with fins and a snorkel, but not necessary; the water is transparent and the fish come right to you. There are blasted bits of jellyfish in the water, so bring ammonia or wear something to cover your skin in the water. No entire jellyfish, but the little bits that leave small stings. The outhouse on the island is about what you'd expect. All I will say is to bring toilet paper if you you want it, because they have trash baskets for it, but no paper. Noë showed us a well marked path that goes across the island, so we walked there while he stayed with the boat and our things. It was great to walk in a desert and see ocean and mountains all around. This is a preserve, so there are sidewinder tracks, prickly plants of various kinds, and no way to get out of the sun. Wear a hat; cover yourself as much as you need; bring water; and stay on the path. Lunch was waiting when we got back. Pre-rolled roast beef burritos with fresh tomatoes and avocado to add. Plus a cooler full of water and a few Cokes. You can bring beer if you want, and they'll chill it, but they provide everything else. It was delicious and easy. We were ready to go back after another quick swim, but it was clear that we could have stayed as long as we wanted. (The owner told us just to tip extra if we stay longer, of course.) Isla Danzante was an even better experience. We had a different captain, who did not speak English, so I got to practice my Spanish. He was very skilled with the boat and was very responsive to us. If I started taking pictures, he slowed the boat. When we got to a particularly pretty spot, he asked if we would prefer to go more slowly and admire it, or go quickly and get to Danzante. We spent a fair amount of time going past Isla Carmen, a private island that is only accessible for hunters who supposedly pay $50,000 to hunt rams there. We saw no rams, but it was still beautiful. After Carmen, we slowed down to snorkel in one of the most amazing places I've been. I almost didn't get in the water, because I'd heard so many things about how great Danzante was, but Ricardo seemed a bit concerned and kept saying that the snorkeling was very good there. I was still squeamish about getting in open water out of a boat, and he was extremely patient while I dithered around and worked up my nerve to get in. I'm so grateful that he didn't just go to the shore of Danzante when I wasn't immediately interested in snorkeling there, because it was an incredible experience. So many different types of fish and starfish! And crystal clear water. We went to Danzante after that, ate lunch (same as before, and fantastic), and then took out the sea kayaks that we'd asked for. Aside from one boat that was playing loud music and doing doughnuts around my husband (they quickly got bored and left), it was so quiet it was otherworldly. Beautiful scenery, crabs crawling around with such intricate designs it looked like someone had captured them, painted them five different colors, and let them go. And that water! I've read that the clarity is only there in the summer--it sounds like you basically choose whales or clear water, and I'm very happy with our choice. The clarity was better than I've seen in Quintana Roo or Jamaica. Ricardo and I talked a bit after I had had my fill of kayaking. He was so friendly and kind and very patient with my searching for words, given my limited Spanish. Really great captain. Really great trip. On the return trip, we saw a really big tortoise, tons of flying fish, and a shark. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. We got a bit of a discount for booking both trips with them, and Tours Loreto was very easy to work with. If you are going snorkeling with them, go by the day before and try your mask on; they have plenty and they are the kind of company that wants you to have a good trip. Completely positive experience.

Great Experience!!!

Ricardo and Hector are very friendly and took care of us all the time, specially because I don’t know how to swim and had the chance to experience snorkeling for the first time. Very knowledgeable and keep the boat clean all the time. Thank you for the great experience.

Sea and Land Tours never disappoints! We took the Mesquite Canyon Hike. Luis was our guide and "trust me, its ok" was his line of the day. I trusted him and we had an amazing hike, sometimes I was a bit nervous, but I knew Luis had me covered. We scaled some walls and crossed some cold pools of water thru the slot canyon. It was beautiful scenery and Luis made it a lot of fun! Sea and Land always have the best tour guides, some of them we now call friends. Highly recommend both this tour and tour company. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

loreto sea and land tours reviews

Our tour guides were Ricardo and Hector the captain on the Rosita boat. The boat was clean, in very good shape, they offered us life jackets and were very kind and knowledgeable. The burritos were tasty, and the snorkeling was fenomenal.

loreto sea and land tours reviews

Rafa, Tequilla, and Ricardo were our scuba dive guide. Great experience! Rafa is the lead for our fun dive crew, and he is very careful and instructive in terms of improving our techniques, while still keep the overall dive really fun. They have all the equipment covered with a much better price than other scenery places I have been to before. We also did snorkeling with Rafa the day before, Rafa took us to a really nice tranquility island and made really nice tortilla for lunch! We later went to snorkel with sea lions! I highly recommend this place for fun dive or any kind of water activities you want to do in Loreto.

Wonderful to hear! We are so glad you had a good trip and learned something as well. There's always room for improvement when you are diving. Of course, it's great if the trip can be fun as well right?

Awesome, authentic scuba diving experience with Loreta locals. They are very flexible, very accommodating, and value your safety. Rafa, Ricardo, and captain Tequila were great. Thanks guys!

Wonderful to hear you had a good trip. We appreciate our local guides and captains. It adds to the safety when they're familiar with these waters.

We did three tours with Sea and Land tours and all were amazing. The staff were so friendly - Gracious Irene, Gally, Ricardo, Hector, Mario & Miguel. We hope to see you again.

san Javier mission and desert tour

Our San Javier Mission, rancho, and desert tour is a wonderful day tour to take from Loreto. It includes stops at points of interest, a delicious lunch of regional cuisine, and an insightful tour of not only the mission but the surrounding orchards and farms as well. This is an experience that is certainly best experienced with an insider's knowledge. On this tour, you travel back in time for a wonderful adventure. Viggé Biaundó is the native name for this small valley oasis in the Sierra de la Giganta (Mountains of giant women) wherein in 1699 Father Francisco Maria Piccolo first established the site. Mission San Javier is the best preserved of all the Missions in the Californias.  The first time I went up to San Javier we stopped to take pictures of the views, visited the Mision, walked around town a little, and came back. My second trip was on a tour. I could not believe all the amazing things I learned about the desert, the history of the area, the local Rancheros, and of course the Mision. This tour shows you such a special and unique part of the world you really, really should take a guided tour.

There you will see some wonderful examples of petroglyphs (rock carvings), and pictographs (cave paintings). Our experienced local guides have many years leading tours in this area and are a wealth of information about flora, fauna, history, etc. For anyone who would like to see the rock art of Baja but does not have time to do a multi-day mule trip, our cave paintings day hike is for you!

additional tours and rentals

Birdwatching Tours

Loreto is an amazing place for birdwatching. Many we see on our trips and it's part of the tour, however, if you would like to do a focused bird watching tour, that can be arranged as well.

Multi-Day Mule Tours

We offer both 3-day and 6-day tours by mule to see the amazing rock art of the Sierra de San Francisco. Visit some of the best displays in all of Baja California Sur, ride in a beautiful country and get to know the local folks who are working to share their cultural history and preserve these amazing sites.

Hiking Tours

Need to hike off some tacos? While the Loreto area doesn't offer a lot of what we would call "hiking trails", there are still lots of interesting oases and beautiful canyons we can show you. Let us know how long or far you'd like to go and we'll make it happen.

Bicycle Rentals

If you are staying near downtown Loreto you'll see that there's not really any reason to have a car. Most amenities are all very centrally located. However, bikes are more fun than walking (fact). We have a variety of cruisers available for the afternoon, full-day, or weekly rentals. Discounts for folks doing activities with us or multi-day rentals.

Kayak/SUP Tours and Rentals

We offer a variety of kayaking or Stand Up Paddle Board trips and rentals for guests of all levels. Year-round we can set you up with Sit On Top kayaks or SUPs from the shore or in addition to an island tour. Oct-April we can make arrangements for rentals or tours in traditional boats.

Custom Tours

Do you have a special day in mind? Are you here for a week and would like to plan a series of tours? Are you traveling with a large group and would like to make arrangements for them? Please feel free to get in touch. We also have years of experience working with numerous travel agencies, group tour companies, film crews, and scientific research teams, and photo journalists.

Other Packages & Services

Loreto Sea and Land Tours also provides transport services for its guests from Loreto Baja California throughout the Baja. With its central location and International airport (LTO), Loreto is a great base camp to begin your Baja Adventure.
