Galveston Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

When it comes to Galveston cruise parking, you have lots of options on where to park while you take your trip.

Sign for express parking lot in Galveston.

While the port offers official parking, there are close to a dozen other independent options that all compete for your business. The result? Galveston has the cheapest parking of any cruise port in America. Many lots charge about $15-$20 per day for outdoor spots when you add in all taxes and fees. ( Many hotels also offer free or discounted parking if you stay with them a single night before your cruise .)

With all of the options, it can be a little overwhelming to figure out where you should park. Truth is, most lots are similar and located about the same distance from the port. The major differences between most lots is whether or not they offer covered/indoor parking and of course, the price you’ll pay.

Galveston Cruise Parking Lot Details

Below, we’ve included a price list across all your options. Just note that prices can vary based on season, trip length, parking lot, and even which cruise line you sail. We’ve included all taxes and fees where applicable .

For all lots it’s a good idea to reserve and pay online ahead of time. Not only does this guarantee you a parking spot, but online reservations usually have a discount off the “drive-up” price. We also have a listing of coupons (up to $15 off!) here.

As well, since the Port of Galveston charges shuttles from outside parking lots an access fee to drop off at the cruise ships, there are often discounts if you park and walk instead of using the shuttle . Keep in mind that rates can change.

Parking lot for Galveston cruise ship

Port of Galveston Cruise Parking Lots (Official Port Lots) No matter which cruise terminal you sail, the Port of Galveston offers official port parking, and guarantees a space for all cruise passengers. That said, there are a number of different parking options provided by the port, which come with different prices, making things a little confusing.

Economy Lots: The port offers a number of surface lots (Lots A-B) that sit on either side of Harborside Drive, between 29th Street and 33rd Street. The lots are fenced and lit. Parking for oversize vehicles is available for an extra charge. The price is $147 (all prices inclusive of taxes and fees) for a 7-day cruise. Five-day cruises see a price of $106. A shuttle to the ship is provided.

Express Lot & Parking Garage: In addition to the economy lots, the port also offers premium options. The first is an Express Lot that’s at the door of Cruise Terminal 28. It offers the ability to park and walk just a few steps to the terminal. As well, there is another lot at Pier 25. This costs $162 for a 7-day trip and $117 for a 5-day cruise.

Then there is also a covered parking garage across the street from Harborside and a short walk to both terminals. The garage charges lots are priced at $200 for a 7-day cruise and $144 for a 5-day cruise. No shuttle is provided given the short distance.

Cruise Terminal 10 Parking: Cruise Terminal 10 is the newly built Royal Caribbean terminal, located east of the other terminals. This spot offers four parking areas: North Lot (located closest to the terminal), South Lot, Pier 12 Lot, and the Pier 14 Lot. The North Lot and Pier 12 Lot cost $200 for a 7-day cruise and $144 for a 5-day trip. The South Lot and Pier 14 cost $178 (7-day) and $127 (5-day).

  • Cost: Varies from $147-$200 for a 7-day trip.
  • Distance/Shuttle: 5-7 blocks from the port (shuttle provided for free). Garage/Express Lot parking is at the cruise ships. Terminal 10 parking is at or a short distance from the terminal.
  • Website:  PortofGalveston.com

Discount Cruise Parking Among the cheapest places to park, Discount Cruise Parking can offer affordable rates, along with a new location that’s much closer to the terminals than the lot used to be.

We found rates of $92 (including taxes and fees) for uncovered parking during a 7-day cruise. Rates for shorter 5-day cruises were $78 after all taxes and fees.

In addition, the parking lot offers a free shuttle that picks up and drops off at the cruise terminals every 15 minutes.

  • Cost: $92 for a 7-day trip (prepaid)
  • Distance/Shuttle: 5-7 blocks (shuttle provided for free)

The parking cost for a six-night cruise is $82 after taxes and fees. Seven-night cruises are $95. Eight-night trips will run $108. Parking for shorter cruises isn’t available.

The outdoor lot is fenced. It is also easy to find (you can’t miss the big “Cruise Park” sign on Harborside Drive).

  • Distance/Shuttle: 3 blocks (no shuttle provided)
  • Website: CruisePark.com
  • Phone: 409-354-8787

Falstaff offers indoor parking and outdoor lots. Note that that the lot is a little farther than most lots from the port, but still a quick free shuttle ride to the port.

In our search we found parking for $171 for indoor parking for a week cruise after taxes and fees with the shuttle. There is also outdoor parking for $129 for a week with taxes/fees.

The entire lot is fenced and lit. Most parking is outdoors, but there is also indoor parking for an additional fee.

A 5-day trip runs $168 after taxes with indoor parking and a shuttle. Outdoor parking with a shuttle is $114 after taxes.

Which parking is best or the highest-reviewed? Many people ask if there is a particular lot they should use. We have personally parked at both EZ Cruise Parking and Galveston Park N Cruise. Both lots were great for us.

Is there free parking anywhere? While Galveston cruise parking is cheap, it’s not free. If you are a disabled veteran or have a Purple Heart, the official Port of Galveston lots will give you a 15% discount off parking. You can see the form to register here .

Port of Galveston says they no longer offer free parking for Disabled Veterans. You only receive a 15% discount

RCL’s new terminal is actually Terminal 3 / PIER 10…

Port of Galveston calls it Cruise Terminal 10:

PARKING AND MOBILITY Our Mobility Department is devising ways to move cruise-related traffic to its final destinations most efficiently. All customers who park at Cruise Terminal 10 will benefit from expedited entrance and exit at parking facilities with new license plate recognition technology.

Discount Cruise Parking has moved much closer to the terminal and is at 433 33rd Street, Galveston TX 77550. They were still the cheapest from those available when I searched. (I had a four-day cruise during the week and half the parking lots were not even open.) I will know next week if the service is still good.

Jim how was the parking at Discount Cruise Parking? I am trying to decide if I want to use this lot for my upcoming cruise for this December.

Hotel Galvez is now Grand Galvez with new owners, and no longer offer cruise parking or cruise port shuttle service.

I am a disabled veteran 100 percent I am visiting a friend in Arkansas and are Carnival Cruise leaves on March 21 to the 26th will be driving from Arkansas to Galveston and leaving on the dream but the car we’re bringing down is my friend’s car but I did bring my packer plate from my car in Pennsylvania would that work to get the free parking the car is registered in her name not mine…

I’d suggest calling the port at 409-765-9321. That’s a pretty intricate situation.

Do you have Purple Heart parking prices

Purple Heart recipients can park for free at the official Galveston port lots. According to their website:

“To qualify for complimentary parking space you will need the following: State vehicle registration receipt with Disabled Veteran or Purple Heart Recipient designation along with driver’s license or state-issued ID to match vehicle registration information.”

“In addition, the Disabled American Veteran or Purple Heart Recipient MUST be present at time of check in along with the vehicle that has the DV/PH license plate.”

You don’t have to reserve ahead of time. Just show up and let the attendant know. They will direct you on how to park for free.

We will be sailing on the Liberty on March 25th. We will be driving and need a place to park for the week. As of now, we will not be staying in a hotel in Galveston so we will need port parking. Does anyone have a suggestion for the closest and easiest parking?? Thanks!

EZ Parking. Two blocks from pier. Have shuttle or $20 discount if you walk. I used in January while on B2B on Liberty. Have website.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Lighthouse Parking. They are across the street from the port. They have covered and uncovered parking and shuttle you each way. $70 or $75 for the week. Have used them twice. You reserve on line, print out the conformation and show it at the gate. Enjoy your cruise.

Galveston Park N Cruise is also across the street...covered and uncovered...$87 and $67.

We used Galveston Park & Cruise and it's perfect. We did the inside parking. We did self debark and walked across the street got the car and were on the road in 30 minutes from walking off the ship. No waiting for a shuttle to pick you up. We saw plenty of people waiting outside the terminal for the shuttles, wouldn't do it for the price difference.

Word of advice, park and walk over to the terminal if able. I dropped DW off with the luggage and went to park. I could throw a baseball and hit the parking lot from the drop off. It took me 30 min to just get out of the lot and parked. Exiting the terminal lot is a pain.

IonImplantTech

I did EZ cruise parking on my 1st trip in Dec. No complaints with them, everything went smoothly. I'm going to try Galveston park and cruise for my next trip at the end of april. No reason, just to try something different.

JBSteelerfan

Used 3 different lots in the past, and have preferred EZ Cruise parking!

Take the covered parking, just a tip from a local!

And you can use the coupon code of "anysail" to save 10% when you book online. Used them back in October and 0 problems and will be using them again coming up in August.

Galveston Park N Cruise

Paid extra to park indoors. While I was on the cruise they put a tarp over the cars and took down the ceiling. Multiple scratches to my car. They denied any liability.

Port of Galveston is a happening place...no great places to view however...I observed and enjoyed from my cruise ship...so takes work to see the activity..likely view spots near the Elisa

We used DCP parking and it was so easy! We parked at their lot, they loaded our luggage into their shuttle then drove us to the port. We had a short walk to where embarkation was and made our way onto the ship. It was less than 30 minutes from start to finish. We had an early board time, so we waited around or maybe 15 to 20 minutes then were able to board the ship early! I will take all of my cruises out of Galveston!

The port was easy to get through, there were a lot of people going to the same place but it was pretty much effortless. We took the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas 7 day cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. The staff and service onboard the ship were amazing. I don't think I will do another day cruise because we were out to sea more than we were in port. Make sure you have everything you need prior to leaving because stuff is expensive on the ship, I forgot to pack mine and my kids toothbrushes when we left the hotel the night before, I had to buy 2 toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste onboard and it cost me $14.00. I bought an internet package however the Wi-Fi was not very good. You can't stream movies, Netflix wouldn't work. I did buy the soda package which comes with a free cup, that was very convenient. The pools were to small and overly crowded but there was always something to do to keep you busy. Food was available until 2 a.m. The debarkation process was fairly easy. Again a lot of people trying to move at the same time but it was well organized and easy to exit the ship and get through customs. There is also a taxi stand and plenty of taxi's waiting.

We used the port parking while we went on a Carnival cruise. We didn't have to wait in a long line to pay. We were directed to our spot which was very tight. I had to sit and wait for the car load next to me to get out so our doors wouldn't bump or we wouldn't ding each other's car. We were picked up immediately by a friendly shuttle driver and arrived at the terminal in no time. Extremely efficient. Same experience when we returned. Shuttle vans were lined up and off we went. We were on the highway home within 8 minutes of getting off the boat.

The port itself was easy to use. The parking and cruise boarding process were a bit tricky. We used Light House parking and were pleased.

Park 2 Cruise lot in Galveston?

Cool Cruiser

Has anyone used the Park 2 Cruise lot across the street from the new terminal? Was it difficult to drop people off at the terminal & get back across the street? It seems to be much cheaper than parking directly at the terminal. Thanks for any info on it!

You might look at Discount Cruise Parking.  We used them last May.  Cheaper than most of the closer lots, plus they have a shuttle to and from the port.  Good service.  I will use them again.

5,000+ Club

Look also at Discount and Falstaff

Thanks for the info. Looks like Discount is the same price as Park 2 cruise, but has a shuttle, which would be nice because all of us would be getting to the terminal at the same time instead of waiting on the drivers to park & walk across the street to the rest of the party.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

This is my 3rd time to book with Galveston Park N Cruise and I am recommending it to several friends who will be sailing with me. It is so convenient to the Terminal and I know my vehicle is very safe.

I've used your parking twice before and it is just GREA T. I'm really thankful you providing this service.

Parked here in March, 2011 and had a great experience. The convenience you provide is outstanding. Thank you. Ed Cutchin, Marble Falls, TX.

We wanted to let you know how pleased we were with our recent use of your parking facility during a 7-day cruise. When we arrived at your lot, we showed our advance reservation to the attendant, and were immediately directed to a wonderful wide covered parking space. We had already dropped our luggage at the terminal, so after locking our suv, a few steps across the street, and we were ready to begin boarding….. Upon our return 7 days later, after going thru customs, as hundreds of people crowded at the curb waiting for cabs and busses, we rolled our 3 pieces of luggage across the street, and were at our car in just a few minutes. The worst thing that happened was a security guard or deputy sheriff stopped us on the street, and asked us where we were going. After telling him, he was happy, and allowed us to continue. We will certainly return to your facility on our next cruise from Galveston, and will recommend your lot to our cruising friends. Ed & Val Ehlis

This is our 3rd time to use your lot. We do appreciate the convience and service you provide. Thank You. Dennis Allen

I have used your parking before. It is very nice and very convenient!    Emily

I am a repeat customer. I was very happy with the service. I look forward to getting the same service. Jessica G.

My son and I did this in June and it was great. Did not have to wait for someone to come get us when we got back. Well worth the price. I have a 4 door F250 so save me a large easy to get in spot. Donna M

We have parked at your lot 5 times now. Always convenient. I register online and am always greeted with a smile and a Thanks. Colonel Terry W. Elwell BS,RN (Ret.)

We parked at your lot last year also. You have the best location - just a walk across to the pier. Gurusamy R

Convenient parking, just drop off your bags, park, 2 minute walk back to the port. Everyone else will be sitting there waiting for a shuttle, you will be on the boat!!! Lovely young woman will be waiting for you to drop off and pickup your vehicle.

Photo of Ric P.

As close as you can park to the ship. The woman that runs the place goes above and beyond the call of duty. She. Called a few days before the cruise too make sure we had all our ducks in a row. Upon returning from our lack luster cruise the nice old woman greeted us with a cold bottle of Agua and tissues to wipe our sweaty brows

Well last year we booked in this place for Liberty of the Seas cruise, this year 2016 i did it again to my sept. cruise, felt so safe there, Liz is amazing person to deal with, there is enough space for any car and you can open the door without hitting other cars. The price is a lot lower than others, i dont car is if is not indoors. You can leave the car there, walk a few blocks and be on the terminal without any problem. This place doesnt have shuttle, honestly, if you know what you are doing, you can drop all your belongs on the terminal(as you need to do anyway), then drop your kids, family or those who doesnt want to walk a few blocks and then park the car. For me is part of the experience, is so close to the terminal that i dont care to walk. After all the food i got on the cruise believe me is something that i need lol.

Our car was parked here during hurricane Harvey. The car was perfectly dry. We had been in communication with them because we were on the ship for 13 days instead of 7. They were great!

My husband and I parked our car at Cruise Park last week when we took a cruise out of Galveston. The employees are so courteous and attentive, always looking out for you. The lot is locked up at 2:00 in the afternoon; we had no concerns for the safety of our vehicle and it was just fine when we returned. After parking, one of the staff gave us a free ride in the golf cart to the corner and when we returned, he was waiting at the entrance of the alleyway to give folks a ride back to the lot, even though it was very close and we could have walked it easily. We were so impressed with the facility, the low cost and the employees - we will only use this lot from now on! Great job!

Perfect place to park for a cruise leaving from Galveston. Great price and location. Secure and the employees are friendly and appreciative. Would definitely use again.

Photo of sherry m.

We have parked here for 4 cruises now and it's the perfect spot. Great location with better pricing than any of the other lots. It is a gated secure lot so we have never had any worries about leaving our car there. They do have golf carts to shuttle you to and from the intersection of the cruise terminals too. What really makes this a great experience is the staff. We have always had super friendly helpful people to park us and load our luggage. And after 2 years between cruises when we pulled into the lot the amazing lady who runs the place even remembered us by name. This is the only place we will park for a cruise out of Galveston.

Photo of Bruce C.

It's a parking lot. It has lots of places to park your car. It's not too far from the pier and they have shuttle service. What is it that I don't like about this business? The shuttle drivers. The first one we got couldn't stop complaining about the last guy that ticked him off. Dude. I'm about to get on a cruise. If you're making my life miserable so I can't be disappointed on the cruise, you're doing an excellent job. The return shuttle driver was actually quite cordial. She helped us with our bags and was nice. No complaints here.

Photo of Kate F.

The price is right for a gated clean parking lot within walking distance. However they have several well kept vans that continuously circuit travelers to and from the port. The wait was a little long to get there and we had to let the other cruise ship people off first. But coming back was a breeze and quick. Very friendly and professional staff and you can call ahead to reserve a space.

11 Reason To Sail on Cruises From Galveston

I n no uncertain terms, a cruise port makes all the difference regarding your entire vacation. After all, the location of your departure sets the tone for your trip moving forward, determining which destinations you’ll reach once you’re on the high seas.

While specific destinations like Miami or Canaveral boast unique strengths, something might also be said for the Port of Galveston, Texas. A smaller port overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Galveston may not be the largest or busiest destination from which to depart. Yet, there are plenty of amicable reasons to look into this idyllic Texan island for your next cruise-going experience.

1. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Offer Cruises From Galveston

Looking at it plainly, Galveston has three cruise terminals making up its port. In contrast, far larger alternatives, like the Port of Miami, have eleven terminals. Because of this, Galveston unfortunately cannot house many of the industry’s prestigious cruise lines. However, the port’s terminals support several large-scale cruise corporations, with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, MSC, and Disney Cruises departing from Galveston regularly.

2. The Nearby Cruise Destinations Are Well Worth It

Admittedly, inevitable drawbacks are attached to cruises from Galveston. Considering how much farther west it is than ports in Florida or along the East Coast, most cruise lines out of Galveston cannot travel to their company’s private islands as many are in the Eastern Caribbean. However, Galveston’s location along the Gulf of Mexico has its distinct perks, including ready access to the Western Caribbean and parts of South and Central America. Though some guests might regret losing a chance at CocoCay, it’s hard to be upset when trekking along the shores of Mexico, Honduras, or Belize.

3. It’s Easier To Navigate Than Larger Ports

There’s no simple answer when it comes to determining the total cost of cruises from Galveston over any other port in the U.S. Like most ports, the final cost of the cruise depends on numerous factors, including the time of year you’re sailing, the location of your cabin, and the cruise line you plan on traveling with. However, the convenience of navigating the port itself makes Galveston a perfect option for anyone new to cruise vacations. Avoiding the large-scale crowds and tedious boarding lines as other major ports, Galveston remains a hassle-free destination for most novice travelers out there.

Baby, It's Cold Outside! 12 Warm Destinations to Escape to This Winter

4. galveston is conveniently located in the central u.s..

Given Galveston’s distinct location in eastern Texas , it’s one of the most readily accessible ports for travelers across the U.S. Located in the heart of America, travelers from the Western U.S. will have just as easy time reaching it as vacationers from the Midwest or East Coast. After all, who wants to sit on a lengthy plane ride to reach their port of call? Also, Galveston lacks the same high value of traffic as Miami or other popular ports, making it relatively hassle-free to reach.

5. The Port Terminal Is Reasonably Close to the Airport

Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport is the closest airport to Galveston. Roughly 41 miles northwest of the port, travelers can easily navigate from the airport to their cruise terminal in under an hour. Galveston is also close to several major cities, making it an option, albeit a farther one, for anyone flying into Austin or Dallas. However, given Houston’s short driving distance to Galveston, William P. Hobby Airport is your best bet for air travel.

6. The Boarding Process Is Quick and Seamless

As mentioned above, Galveston doesn’t have the same volume of passengers flooding through its port as Miami, Canaveral, or Port Everglades. As a result, boarding a ship is comparatively tamer—especially since the port opened up its third and latest terminal in 2022. Having been constructed in the past two decades and carefully refurbished, these terminals are in fantastic shape, making the onboarding process much more efficient for vacationers. The terminals also come equipped with innovative new features, with Terminal 3 offering mobile check-in and state-of-the-art facial recognition devices.

7. There Are Plenty of Hotels Nearby

Another notable feature of Galveston is the number of hotels near the port. (Because let’s face it: what’s more accessible than simply waking up, hopping in your car, and practically walking onto the ship without worrying about losing track of time?) What’s more, many of the hotels in the Galveston area have special offers for anyone traveling onboard a cruise ship. These offers include free or discounted parking rates and a helpful shuttle that ferry passengers back and forth from the hotel to the ship. While several hotels in Galveston have these amenities, some of the best include the Hilton Galveston Island Resort and the San Luis Resort .

8. Parking Is Easy

Don’t let Galveston’s size fool you—the port itself has plenty of options when it comes to parking. As previously suggested, anyone staying at a nearby hotel might want to consider leaving their car parked there and taking a shuttle, taxi, or Uber over to their terminal. Additionally, travelers can reserve a space in the port’s parking lot ahead of their trip. These parking spaces are safe and secure, and port employees will assist with any luggage brought aboard on cruises from Galveston.

9. Galveston Itself Is a Beautiful Place To Visit

The main reason we believe you should depart from Galveston on your next cruise is the opportunity you’ll have to see what it has to offer. Like most major cities, there’s plenty to do and see around town, with every prospective sight catering to travelers’ interests. For those interested in shopping, the Strand Historical District has plenty of independently owned stores that feature everything from odd tchotchkes to essential beach items. Galveston’s famous Moody Gardens is an educational park built around natural wonders such as exotic sea life, immaculate flowers, roaming monkeys, and sloths.

10. You’re Bound To Find Some Great Last-Minute Deals

As previously mentioned, Galveston is a more scaled-down port than Miami or Port Canaveral, but its three terminals still receive cruise ships constantly. Because of this constantly moving schedule, most travelers will find it incredibly easy to find last-minute deals on select cruises from Galveston—often days before the ship is booked to leave. Sure, it may not be practical for those traveling from longer distances to book something last-minute. Yet these last-minute deals are well worth it for anyone within a short distance of Galveston.

11. Galveston Is Steeped in Rich Maritime History

Galveston is a city rich in history, having first been settled by Indigenous Natives of the Akokisa and Karankawa tribes before the Europeans arrived in the 1600s. Over the next several centuries, Galveston became a hub for maritime trade, eventually attracting such notable figures as French buccaneer Jean Lafitte. All that being said, history buffs will delight at the chance to visit Galveston, taking in some of the numerous historical sights around town—like Lafitte’s personal hideaway at Maison Rouge or the Michael B. Menard House, named after one of Galveston’s original American settlers. Even those who don’t care for history will find these areas fascinating.
