The 1975

The 1975 has announced the “Still… At Their Very Best” fall tour, the band’s biggest North American tour to date. The Matty Healy-led group will take their fifth album, “Being Funny in a Foreign Language,” across the U.S. and Canada for the second time since its October 2022 release.

The tour will kick off Sept. 26 in Sacramento, Calif., and end Dec. 2 in Seattle.

The band had teased the tour on social media throughout the month, posting vague visuals and linking to an online registration form.

Popular on Variety

The tour evolved throughout its initial North American run, from altered setlists to surprise guest cameos from Phoebe Bridgers and Bleachers. Healy made headlines for bringing fans onstage during “Robbers” and passionately kissing them.

Variety praised the band’s latest performance at Madison Square Garden , calling the concert a “captivating exposition from a band that embraces nearly every pop trope yet demands to be taken seriously.” The band will return to the famed New York City venue on Nov. 14.

A fan presale begins June 21 at 10 a.m. local time, while public tickets will go on sale June 23 at 10 a.m. on the 1975’s website .

In other The 1975 news, Healy recently responded to Noel Gallagher’s comments about him at a 1975 show in Dublin last week (June 7).

“Noel Gallagher called me a ‘slack-jawed fuckwit’… I love Noel Gallagher. We asked Liam to open up and he said he would have done it but he was busy,” he told the crowd.

“But I love Noel Gallagher… He’s just getting on,” he added. “The difference between me and Noel is that I do a series of interviews to promote an album, whereas he does an album to promote a series of interviews. But we love you Noel. Get Oasis back together!”

At the show, Healy also acted as the support slot for his own band, after  Caroline Polachek pulled out at the last minute due to losing her voice .

In his stripped-back solo set, he performed covers of ‘I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You’ by Colin Hay, and Donny Hathaway’s ‘A Song For You’, which was performed alongside touring guitarist Jamie Squire. He also  performed the live debut of their song ‘Then Because She Goes’ .

How to Get Tickets to The 1975’s 2023 Tour

The "Still ... at their very best" run launches in September

How to Get Tickets to The 1975’s 2023 Tour

The 1975 have announced a fall North American circuit, dubbed the “Still … at their very best” tour , in support of their fifth album Being Funny in a Foreign Language , and you can feel like you’re “Part of the Band” by claiming your tickets as soon as they go up for grabs.

Get tickets here , and read on for more details including pre-sale dates.

What Is The 1975’s Next Tour?

The 2023 “Still … at their very best” tour reaffirms 2022’s North American “At Their Very Best” tour, which found lead singer Matty Healy gnawing on raw meat at New York’s Madison Square Garden, kissing fans at multiple shows, sharing a duet with Phoebe Bridgers, and getting a tattoo on-stage. Check out our full recap of the band’s headlining performance at MSG here .

The 1975 will spend Summer 2023 touring Europe and Asia with stops to London, Paris, Singapore, and more still ahead. Following festival appearances including Chicago’s Lollapalooza , San Francisco’s Outside Lands , Atlanta’s Music Midtown , and Las Vegas’ Life is Beautiful , the “Still … at their very best” tour officially launches in Sacramento on September 26th. The band hosts three additional California shows between San Jose, San Diego, and Los Angeles before heading west via Arizona and Colorado to New Orleans, Miami, and Tampa. They’ll play Nashville on October 22nd, then travel to the Midwest through early November with nights in St. Louis, Detroit, Indianapolis, and more.

On the East Coast, the quartet will hit Philadelphia, Boston, and New York for two more headlining performancse at Madison Square Garden on November 14th and 14th, then continue north for Canadian dates in Montreal, Toronto, London, and Vancouver to close out the month. They visit Portland, Oregon on December 1st, and wrap the North American “Still … at their very best” tour in Seattle on December 2nd.

Who Is Opening for The 1975 on Tour?

No openers were listed for the “Still … at their very best” tour at the time of its announcement. The 1975 have historically invited up their fair share of unannounced guests — most recently Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift — but the only surprise appearance that could truly put the band at their peak would be the unlikely reunion of Oasis, which Healy publicly advocated for in February and subsequently drew the ire of elder brother Noel Gallagher.

How Can I Get Tickets for The 1975’s 2023 Tour?

Tickets for The 1975’s newly announced shows in Fort Worth, Newark, and Chicago go on sale Friday, August 18th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster .

Alternatively, check for seats and deals to all of The 1975’s upcoming live performances via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

The 1975 Announce Still… At Their Very Best Tour Dates

The 1975 have announced plans for their largest North American tour run to date, with tickets on sale beginning next week. The tour will commence in the fall, following overseas dates for the band that run through much of the early summer, and festival dates in August. News of the touring plans for the band are also fresh off a whirlwind of headlines for frontman Matty Healy, who briefly dated pop superstar Taylor Swift as her Eras Tour got underway this year.

Tickets for The 1975’s tour are available next week, with a general sale planned for Friday, June 23. There will be a “fan” presale beginning on Wednesday, June 21 with sign-up available through the band’s website . That presale is powered by the “Seated” system, rather than Ticketmaster’s much-maligned Verified Fan, which famously imploded during the presale process for Healy’s former flame last November. The 1975 are promoted by AEG Presents affiliate Messina Touring Group, which also runs Swift’s touring operations.

Following the summer shows in Europe and the UK, The 1975 play their first North American shows at festivals this summer, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Music Midtown, and Life is Beautiful. Solo shows at arenas begin with a September 26 performance at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento and run through the next two months and change, concluding on December 2 at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena. Other stops for the band include Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles), Kaseya Center (Miami), Target Center (Minneapolis), Madison Square Garden (New York), and Centre Bell (Montreal).

The North American tour dates from the 1975 will continue what has already been a very busy year for the group, which has been touring in support of the album Being Funny in a Foreign Language, released in October 2022. The group has hit the stage on Saturday Night Live in addition to performances across the globe already this year, continuing on through at least early December with this new batch of dates.

Released last October, the band’s fifth studio album ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’ was met with lavish praise, with The FACE labeling it “an album of massive tunes, pristine production and sincere romanticism” and Rolling Stone vowing the album saw the band “reassert themselves at the forefront of 2020s pop-rock”. It outsold the rest of the Top 5 combined to land the band their fifth Official UK Number 1 album in a row. The band were also crowned ‘Best Rock/Alternative Act’ at the 2023 BRIT Awards.

Live reviews

I saw them play at the Starlite Room in Edmonton which is a small, slightly sketchy venue downtown that I personally love. It holds about 300 people probably. My best friend and I got there to wait outside in line about 7 hours before doors opened to guarantee that we got close to the stage, which we did. But the whole time we were waiting, all of the band members were walking in and out of the front doors, or they would linger around the venue. At one point I ran to the Tim Hortons down the street to grab something to eat, and I was behind George.. Like it was insane.

But anyways , the show.

My friends and I were in the front left of the stage. And at Starlite, they have no barriers so you're pressed right up against the stage. Sirsly came on first, which I hadn't heard of them before the show. They did an incredible job opening the show. Next was Bad Suns, which I left the show being a huge fan of them. They have the perfect young alternative rock feel. They did a wonderful job connecting to the crowd and their whole set just flew by. I was lucky enough to meet them after the show to chat with and they were such lovely guys. And next was the 1975. The word to describe how great of a show these guys put on is something beyond my vocabulary. They are edgy, raunchy, loud and extreme. I have always fancied the lead singer Matt Healy, and he knows just how to work the crowd. He loves to tease, chat and just flaunt himself at everyone. There was no equipment set up in front of my friends and I, so we had lots of opportunities where the band members would come right up to us. A moment that was a highlight for me was during Talk! Matty knelt down grabbed my hand and sang the line, "I've been thinking lots about your mouth.' It was a big deal for me. HAHAHA. But I could honestly write for hours about these guys. Their connection with everyone was undeniable. I'd say my favourite song to see like was probably "Sex". Its the last song they performed and Matty introduced it saying, "this song is about fucking each other." But its incredible to see live where everyone knows all the words and just goes insane, including the band.

Then after the show, the band came out and met every single person who waited. It was magical. Matt was the first to come out and because of how calm he was, the crowd literally waited in close to silence. No screaming or fan-girling. It was sweet to see him take his time with every single fan. He gave everyone hugs and listened to everything they had to say. I explained to him how much the bands music meant to me personally and he gave me three hugs and seemed so gracious to hear everything I had to say. Honestly, he is an angel. I didn't have the chance to meet the members sadly but next time i guess.

Anyways, never pass up an opportunity to see these guys... ever. Its been almost 2 1/2 months and the post concert depression is stronger than ever.

My first concert. My favourite band.

Belsonic music festival is an intimate venue so I was in touching distance of the foursome. As the intro played in, the crowd erupted as we caught the first sight of Ross (bass guitar), followed by George (drums), Matty (vocals) and finally Adam (rhythm guitar). The boys filed on to 'Love Me' and got the party started. Favourites from both albums followed such as 'A Change of Heart' and 'Menswear'.

As the sky began to darken Matty decided it was time to address the audience, cigarette in hand. Stating he loved Belfast and reminiscing about the time they first played Belfast to only 25 people, I could hear loyal fans shouting, "we were there! We were there!" Matty continued to talk about the world and how a 'revolution' was imminent, saying that it looked a lot more "emo these days". I tried to capture his little speech on my phone like many others, when Matty told us all to put our phones down for one minute, telling us we would "enjoy the next ten minutes much more than if it was on our iPhone." The sea of people dropped their devices (me included) and swayed to the transcendent sound of 'Me'.

The second half of the show was truly electric with a rainbow flashing on stage to 'Loving Someone' as two shared a kiss to my left. Then came the ever a party starter 'Girls' and 'She's American'. The true spectacle of the night was 'Sex' however, a light show in its own right, and a religious experience.

Finishing their set the crowd chanted, "one more song! One more song!" The guys obliged and then some, coming back out to play three scintillating tracks: the hymn - like 'If I Believe You', the classic 'Chocolate' and banging 'The Sound'.

The 1975 are a band that not only perform with such energy track after track, but put on an impressive light show and with a prophetic front man foretelling the future, I would recommend anyone witness their excellence for themselves.

Well lets just say this: They rocked it but it didn't start out that way.

First let me say that I am 51 and have been going to live shows, big and small, for 35 years. So, I saw Depeche Mode way back in the day and this show felt very much like what I saw back in the 80's. For you younger ones, and The1975 fans, you will really enjoy it but for the first half of the show, I felt like I was watching Depeche.

The "show" and set are really cool. I have never seen any light show like that before but the problem was that the entire band basically stayed in place and left the "entertaining" part to the lead singer. I have no problem with that but I felt sorry for him as this was their first time in Red Rocks and for those of you who don't know, while it is an amazing venue, it is pretty hight in altitude and every band that comes through complains about not being able to breath. You could see that it was a struggle but he was still awesome and pulled it off.

The sound was great! The band was very tight and way better than what I saw on SNL. I am not a huge fan of their new stuff because I became a huge fan back in 2014 when I saw them at a small club in San Diego. But the new stuff was still good and it made the end great because they finally got to the rocking out.

The opening acts, The Japanese House and Wolf Alice were really good opening act and Wolf Alice now has a new fan in me.

To sum it up, they did a good job headlining and it was totally worth the time and money but unless you are a The1975 fan, you may feel wanting during the first half. Make sure you stay for the end!

The 1975 was amazing live. I've been to several concerts and I can easily say that this concert was one of the best ones I've ever been to. I love their music. I think they're a very unique and talented band, and it amazes me how the different instruments and sounds blend together perfectly to create a beautiful song telling a beautiful story.

Matty Healy was the one who mainly talked to us, and the things he did on stage were incredible. There were beautiful moments such as during a song called "Me", he asked everyone to put their phones away and just enjoy the music, and then during the second half of the song, he asked everyone to turn the flashlight on on their phone, and wave it in the air to the song. It was such a beautiful sight.

At some point in the concert, he kindly asked everyone to take a step back because the people in front were getting squashed. He also went backstage for a while to get water for the people in the audience who were dying of thirst. He also said some funny things such as "the weather does horrible things to my hair". I just think that Matty is such a genuine, kind and great man.

Apart from Matty's great character, the music was really good, and all 4 band members put on an amazing show. There were more upbeat tracks such as "Girls" and "Sex" which got everyone pumped and dancing, interchanged with groovy instrumentals and slow, sad songs such as "Fallingforyou" and "Me" which touched the audience. Great music, great band, and great live.

The 1975 is one band you definitely should catch live.

This concert was certainly a shock.

I had seen the 1975 about a year ago at Ally Pally and although that was a good concert, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and that meant that I didn't have high hopes to see them again this time.

However I was proved wrong.

The concert was absolutely awesome! Travel to the venue was straightforward and not too busy for starters and waiting in the cold for 2 hours was not as cold as I had feared. I was standing and although I wasn't that close to them, the venue had a slanted floor, so the combination of this and my highest heels allowed for a good view.

Everyone there tended to be the same age as me or older, that is over seventeen, and I felt that this added to the experience as we were all as excited and into the music as each other.

There was some moshing and although I tried to avoid it at first, I joined the pit during "Sex" and that was definitely the right choice; although it was very violent and fast and probably dangerous, it was loads of fun and got me into the music and got me right to the front!

The boys' playing was just brilliant, they really made us all get completely hypnotised by the music and they played some of their new album which sounded great. Matty looked really fit and shoutout to the guy on the sax, he was absolutely wicked!

They were just brilliant so as soon as I got home I bought a ticket to see them again in March hahaha. Definitely recommend!

The 1975's Melbourne show was insanely energetic even though Matty was apparently not feeling 100%. You wouldn't have known that he'd tweeted the night before apologising for being sick and mentioning that People might be dropped off the setlist due to his voice not being able to cope. Luckily, it was not dropped and proved an amazing opening song to get everyone up and dancing. There were three songs which really stood out over the course of the show: firstly, Love It If We Made It. It was apt that the climate strike had taken place the actual day that the Melbourne show was on, so Matty took it upon himself to do a little spiel about climate change which was (as usual) inspiring. The song itself was full of energy and great staging. Love Me sounded much better live than in studio which was a surprise for me! Finally, Sex was absolutely fantastic: everyone was screaming every word and Matty jumping up and down on stage. My only issue was that Girls was taken off the setlist which is understandable seeing as they're probably sick to death of playing it but I think they owe it to everyone to play their classics like Girls (Arctic Monkeys would never drop Do I Wanna Know despite Alex constantly complaining about how he's sick of it nor would Green Day drop American Idiot!). Genuinely an 8.5/10 and a fantastic night. (Matty in the pleated skirt was also a highlight!!!)

I attended the 1975 concert at LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH. This is a great venue that is standing room only. The pit at the front of the stage is always crowded and filled with fans ready for a good show. 1975 delivered!! The guys used the stage and interacted well with the crowd. They got everyone involved and singing along. They were all dressed in black pants and various black shirts. They used a nice back drop of the single lighted rectangle from the album art. The stage lighting was great and they used lots of smoke along with the lights to really highlight the band members.

They opened with The City which was truly awesome, they played a long intro to it to get the crowd really riled up! At one point they had the crowd hold up all their cell phones like lighters, it seemed like a special moment for them and they appreciated the large crowd in attendance. The highlight of the show was definitely their current hit song Chocolate.

Set list included, Milk, M.O.N.E.Y., So Far (It's Alright), Talk, She Way Out, Settle Down, Heart Out, Me, fallingforyou, You, Girls, Robbers, and Sex. Overall a great show and one of the better live shows I have seen.

From Vancouver, BC. PNE Forum May 1, 2017.

First opening band was Colouring, and I have to give them kudos for a job well done! I might be searching for their tunes. Second opening band instrumentals and music were good, but I was not a fan of the vocals.

On to The 1975: THANK YOU for an INCREDIBLE SHOW! The light show was AMAZING! STILL the best I have EVER seen! Matty kept all his attire on, lit up, and I swear there was a bottle of beer and a couple of wine glasses on stage. He danced on the piano and beckoned the sexy sax player. Mesmerizing. Merch was stocked! Unfortunately they did not carry the rose gold necklace I wanted. Set list was a mix of both albums and Medicine. He played 'Me' after kindly asking to put our phones away. Live in the moment for a memory no one else needs to know. Also played 'Robbers' after mentioning he'd never play it again, but they'll play it anyway. I was surprised how ok the acoustics were in the cement building of the PNE Forum. My friend and I had a tonne of fun! If you want a band that can give hot, steamy, sultry sex to your eyes and ears, see this band. MUSIC FOR CARS 2018!!!!

I have been a huge fan since their debut album, and last night got to see The 1975(first time) at the LC Pavilion in Columbus Ohio.Swim Deep opened for them and there was much anticipation and waiting for The 1975 to come on stage. There was a sensual smoky sound then the lights turned out and BOOM! They came out and killed the show with "Love Me". I'm 35 and I was sweating, singing, yelling and had the time of my life at this concert.Thier music is something special my 17 year old daughter and I share the same love for. Every damn song was phenomenal with the lights and screens.Matty interacted with the crowd throughout the night while sipping his wine. The long line outside, the standing was worth it in the end. Everyone loves The 1975, all ages and backgrounds it was exhilarating singing to all the songs with the crowd. They put on such an mind blowing show beginning to end. You can definitely feel the love.I can't wait for the new album, and the 2016 tour. When I listen to them I get lost in my feelings with thier atmospheric, sexy vibe. Great show from my favorite guys.

Starting with the opening act, it was really good DJ set.

The 1975 is band you shouldn't miss live. Really energetic even during slow songs. They're perfect live, as if you were listening to the album but with an extra vibe.

For this tour they have huge led screens everywhere with great graphics setting up the mood which is awesome and not usual as some bands do have led screens alternating graphics and live shots of themselves.

In one point of the concert I guess in one side of the Golden Circle people started pushing too hard against the barricade and Matt (front man) told them to hush and move two steps backwards, i guess there were some girls in trouble because he kept asking if someone was ok. He really cares about the fans, most artist would've let security handle it as they watched horrified.

This is one of my favorites bands and for sure they're awesome! So if you know too little this guy's go ahead and listen to more songs and watch videos and if they're coming on tour somewhere near you go see them live ;)

The 1975 frontman Matty Healy sings onstage.

In November 2022, The 1975 hit the road for their ongoing, 88-concert, international ‘At Their Very Best Tour’ in support of their fifth studio album “Being Funny In A Foreign Language.”

This year, Matty Healy’s pop group decided they’re “Still…At Their Very Best.”

Starting Aug. 8, the English quartet will launch their tongue in cheek, 33-concert arena ‘Still…At Their Very Best Tour’ that will take them all over North America up until their final gig of the run on Dec. 2 .

Midway through the trek, they’ll drop into New York City’s Madison Square Garden for a pair of back-to-back gigs on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Wednesday, Nov. 15 .

And if you want tickets to catch the “Somebody Else” band live, we’re here help .

As of now, tickets are available for all upcoming shows and while not all concerts on the calendar have inexpensive seats available, quite a few shows do.

Based on our findings at the time of publication, we found some tickets going for as low as $46 before fees on Vivid Seats.

The 1975 festival appearances

Right before the tour officially launches, The 1975 will headline at a quartet of major multi-day musical extravaganzas.

Then, midway through the run, they’ll lend their talents to Austin City Limits.

To keep you in the loop, here’s all the pertinent details you’ll need about each festival including dates, venues and fellow headliners:

The 1975 set list

With an expansive catalog to choose from, fans that have yet to see the band live might be wondering what to expect at a live show.

Wonder no more.

Based on Set List FM’s extensive record keeping , here’s what you’ll likely hear at a1975 concert — including a surprise cover — this coming fall.

01.) “Give Yourself a Try” 02.) “Happiness” 03.) “Oh Caroline” 04.) “I’m in Love With You” 05.) “Be My Mistake” 06.) “Me & You Together Song” 07.) “If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)” 08.) “fallingforyou” 09.) “Me” 10.) “Medicine” 11.) “About You” 12.) “An Encounter” 13.) “Robbers” 14.) “I Want It That Way” (Backstreet Boys cover) 15.) “She’s American” 16.) “Somebody Else” 17.) “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)” 18.) “Wintering” (Snippet) 19.) “Paris” (Acoustic) 20.) “Love It If We Made It” 21.) “I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)” 22.) “Sex” 23.) “I Like America & America Likes Me” (Real World version) 24.) “102”

Matty Healy controversy

While lead singer Healy is known for his off-kilter onstage antics — over the past year, he’s made out with fans and eaten raw meat on stage — he crossed a line this February when he appeared on comedic podcast “The Adam Friedland Show.”

Over the course of the episode, the frontman played along with the hosts who pride themselves on offensive humor and made racist comments as well as questionable about the LGBTQIA+ community.

For more on the controversial episode, you can read Pitchfork’s account of what went down here .

Matty Healy and Taylor Swift break up

After Taylor Swift’s whirlwind romance with actor Joe Alwyn ended in April, she rebounded with Healy.

While the two never officially confirmed their “casual” relationship, they were “spotted out together in early May and…seen out and about at several New York venues together, reportedly holding hands and kissing” according to Entertainment Weekly .

In early June, the two split and there are allegedly no hard feelings.

“Taylor is doing great — her focus right now is her tour. Since Matty is touring too, they won’t be able to see each other at all,” a source told PEOPLE .

The post How to Get Tickets to The 1975’s 2023 Tour appeared first on Consequence .

The 2023 “Still … at their very best” tour reaffirms 2022’s North American “At Their Very Best” tour, which found lead singer Matty Healy gnawing on raw meat at New York’s Madison Square Garden, kissing fans at multiple shows, sharing a duet with Phoebe Bridgers , and getting a tattoo on-stage.

On the East Coast, the quartet will hit Philadelphia, Boston, and New York for another headlining performance at Madison Square Garden on November 14th, then continue north for Canadian dates in Montreal, Toronto, London, and Vancouver to close out the month.

Tickets for The 1975’s fall run will be first available via the group’s exclusive fan pre-sale starting Wednesday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m. local time. A Live Nation pre-sale follows on Thursday, June 22nd (use code DISCO ), along with early access options via Spotify and venue-specific offers.

Domask Earns First-Team Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Fighting Illini basketball guard/forward Marcus Domask has been named to the 2023-24 Academic All-America first team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced Wednesday.

It marks the second consecutive first-team Academic All-America honor for Domask, who was recognized as a senior at Southern Illinois in 2022-23 before joining the Illini as a graduate transfer.

Domask holds a 4.0 GPA at Illinois while pursuing his master's degree in recreation, sport, & tourism and a 3.95 combined average, including his 3.94 mark as an undergrad studying sport administration at SIU.

Domask becomes the first Fighting Illini to earn Academic All-America accolades since 1979, when Rob Judson and Steve Lanter were both named to the fourth team, and he is the first Illini to garner a first-team nod since Rick Schmidt did it in back-to-back seasons in 1974 and 1975. Overall, Illinois men's basketball now boasts 14 Academic All-America laurels by 11 different players, with Domask earning the program's fifth first-team selection.

One of the nation's top transfers, Domask was a key force behind Illinois' 29-9 campaign that culminated with the Big Ten Tournament championship, a run to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, and a No. 6 final ranking in the AP Top-25 poll. He was a first-team All-Big Ten pick by the coaches and AP, garnered all-conference second-team accolades by the media, and was also voted Big Ten Newcomer of the Year by AP.

The Waupun, Wisconsin, native averaged 15.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while leading the Illini with 3.9 assists per game. He recorded three 30-point games this season, including a career-high 33 at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5 in the win over Florida Atlantic. Domask punctuated his season by recording only the 10 th triple-double in NCAA Tournament history with his 12-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist performance in the team's Round of 64 win over Morehead State. He closed the year as one of only four active players in NCAA Division I with more than 2,000 points (2,218), 750 rebounds (754), and 500 assists (506) over his five-year career.

Spring 2025

Single tickets On-sale to public: Mon Aug 5

Spring 2025 brings a trove of choreographic treasures to the stage, beginning with a program collecting some of Balanchine’s most delectable ballets, ranging from the early masterpiece Apollo to two of his most brilliant later dances, Ballo della Regina and Chaconne . The sweeping elegance of Vienna Waltzes sets a sparkling tone for the spring gala, and an assortment of Ravel-scored works, including the dark and mysterious La Valse , celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Company’s eponymous 1975 festival honoring one of the NYCB’s favorite composers. Contemporary dances feature the return of Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky’s Solitude , a stunning meditation on grief, and Christopher Wheeldon’s solemnly hopeful pas de deux from After the Rain . Kyle Abraham’s When We Fell , originally presented as a film in 2021, has its live performance premiere, and the spring concludes with a weeklong run of Balanchine’s magical version of the cherished Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream .
