Are theer any tandem riders out there? I'm trying to find info. on the trek t2000 tandem. . Does anyone know anything about the ZR 9000 frame? I'm trying to choose between Burley Tirazza and Santana Sovereign, and the trek. They are similarily equiped, I'd like to get a weight on the T2000. All the trek info I can find doesn't include any weight information. The Burley and Santana publish there weights at 32-34 lbs. Is the trek heavier?

The T2000 is definitely in the ballpark with the Santana and the Burley. Bang for the buck, the T2000 is the way to go. The Santana is very nice but, I believe, significantly more expensive. And Burley is now out of the bike business (a shame) and will concentrate on the trailer market.

Just a quick note. I got a T1000 for my brother, which shares the T2000 frame but with a lower component spec. He and his wife love it. No question the Santana is a first class ride (as is Co-Motion). But for the price, I think you'd be hard pressed to beat the Trek. P.S. Despite the fact that I work for a Trek dealer, I don't own one and am not a shill for them. I still ride steel!

Anyone out there know the following, please for a 2005 T2000: - 9 or 10speed cassette as standard? - c-to-c distance between bottom brackets -recommended carbon fork upgrade? My T2000 is in England and I want to do stuff to it when I go there in June but I can't remember if it's 9 or 10 speed. Thanks in advance.

Cannondale Road Tandem Tandem

trek t2000 tandem

  • USER REVIEWS

A Very Quick Tandem. The frame feels like it hugs the road and tiny adjustments translate easily to bike. Nice gearing for flats and moderate hills.

Nothing glaring. Shifter cables not well anchored. Needed to add three zip ties to stabilize and avoid shift chatter. A larger grinder gear on chain ring would have been better. When stoker stands on hills. Bike wobbles more than other Tandems we have had during standing stoker mode, but this is a worthy trade off for the responsive frame in non-standing modes.

The Cannondale L/S Geometry is really the only good fit for truly L and S riding pair. We have been a Tandem Couple for 10 years and have ride time in many places. Captain at 6-0 195 and Stoker at 5-1 105 make for a tough fit. We tried two different Santana set ups and borrowed a co-motion (which was a little better than Santana) before finding the wonderful Geometry of this bike. If you are an average to large captain with a small stoker, this is your bike. It is light, fast, nimble and really is an L/S. Most others are an L/Mish or are an Mish/S. We tried perhaps 10 tandems from various makers in bike shop rides. Cannondale did a really good job with this unit. Interestingly it actually rides in a more stable way while towing the BOB trailer with 30 pounds of gear. We have now have two years of riding in, Perhaps 40 day trips and 2 long tours. Very positive on this bike.

Similar Products Used:

Two Santanas (owned), One Schwin (owned) One Raliegh (still owned) and one Co-Motion (borrowed)

Disc brakes, quality gear set and shifters, light and strong frame- available in a Jumbo/large frame for a large team (I am 6'4", wife 5'10"), and nice paint

We are a large team over 450 lbs. The stock Continental tires and Mavic rims with a Cross 3 lacing pattern could not handle the load. I spent an additional $800 for 35c tires, new stainless spokes (for a Cross 4 pattern=strength), and new 27.5 mm wide rims.

Cannondale makes a quality product and the bike is quite good for most people. I do not fit in the "most" category. I wrote this as a precautionary tale for people who are big or might load up their tandem for a cross country tour (with a lot of luggage). I crashed with this bike, only to find out later from various websites, that the wheels and tires were not up to the task in my application.

Burley and Trek

Build quality. Very Good level of equipment. People will always wave and say hello when you are on a Tandem. You can have a nice easy ride to the cafe, or a damn good workout.

Rear brake pads rubbing, does take some adjusting. Struggle to get panniers on due to the disk brakes. Cannondales cost a fortune here in blighty.

Tandems are ace fun, and this is the best road Tandem to do it on. We tested the Trek T2000 (which cost a fair bit more) and prefered the Cannondale. The Trek had lovely trick Bontrager wheels and that nearly sold it to me, but at the end of the day we did the right thing.

First Tandem owned. I have ridden just about everything else over the last 25 years, but never a Tandem.

Good value for the money on an entry level tandem. Stiff frame provides good power transfer.

Cannondale spec'd some parts that should not be used on a tandem - see comments below. Short stoker cockpit length in X/M (Captain 6'0", Stoker 5'8") We fit the bike based on the Captain and didn't realize until much later how short the Stoker cockpit length is. Captain's seat uncomfortable (Fi:zi'k Aliente Delta) This seat caused numbness in short order, and you tend to spend more time in the saddle on a tandem.

This bike really is a good value for the money. I made a mistake and purchased the bike locally through a shop that didn't have tandem experience and didn't set the bike up properly. Make sure that you buy from a shop that knows tandems! Additionally, there were some problems from the factory that a good tandem shop should catch. Here the things to watch for: 1. They used standard brake cable housing instead of CompressionLESS housing. This causes the brakes to be mushy. Factory housing must be changed out! 2. The crank set had the wrong type of middle chainring causing the shifting to be inhibited. It works, but can work much better. The mechanic I have working on the tandem now was able to call TruVatiV and have them send the correct middle chainring. 3. Rear derailleur hanger was not straight from the factory and made it difficult to get the rear shifting working properly. Make sure the bike shop checks this. 4. The wheels were not correctly tensioned/trued, so they felt mushy and flexed a lot. This caused the brakes to have to be adjusted out to clear when the wheel flexed which further aggravated the mushy brakes. Make sure that the bike shop is comfortable working on a 40 spoke wheel. I believe a good tandem shop would address most of these shortcomings. We purchased a tandem because on our singles we have difficulty riding at the same pace. We struggle with pedaling at the same cadence, but are working it out. I would recommend this tandem to a couple looking for their first tandem (make sure you have demo'd some tandems to see if you can ride together, there is definitely a technique to it and some people just aren't compatible on a tandem)

Demo'd a Raleigh Tandem - enjoyed it so much that we wanted to buy our own. Looked at Co-Motion, Santana, Trek - all more expensive and couldn't see paying that much for our first tandem

Awesome disc brakes!!! Excellent Components! Great price and looks great too! Also comes with suspension seat post for the rear.

Hmmm..... rear saddle not women friendly.

I have always enjoyed tandems! this one is super solid and has disc brakes. The Trek tandems i looked at were much more costly and did not have disc brakes. On Guam we have lots of rain. Flying down hills in wet conditions requires great brakes!! Disc brakes are a "MUST HAVE" on tandems! I am very very happy with this Cannondale!!

Specialized Tandem.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Light, low spoke count

Hubs are weak

ON a Trek T2000. We broke our rear tandem where 2 spokes connect. The hub cracked and we lost 2 spokes..This happend at about 2500-3000 miles on the bike. About 4 months later we noticed a very similar small crack on the front hub. I also have a set of bontrager racelights on my single bike also, and noticed they have cracks in the wheel itself. I will be buying a different brand next time around.

Nice looking wheels. Lots of compliments. Light.

Weak low reliability read hub. Mean Time Between Failure calculations were off by some Trek-Bontrager Engineering department. Trek should warranty these or offer exchange hubs. Now it's my expense for Trek's design engineering being off target.

Read the other reviews so I decided to take a look at my rear hub today now that I have 2000 miles accrued. Guess what? Same problem as other users, rear hub failed. Has a through crack at one spoke mount location and will need to be replaced. Glad to see this before failing or worse with two riders on-board out on the open road.

Similar Products Used:

Other Bontragers, Mavics

Same problem as other users, rear hub failed after a few months used by 300lb team. Too few spokes? Switched to Velocity Dyad, so far so good.

Velocity Dyad

Solid ride, 50 mph downhill no problem, ride is nearly as good as steel, Georgous finish.

Rear hub for sure.

Be aware of the rear hub. Got the bike, indistinguishable from new, from a couple who did a failed tandem experiment. Great bike, good solid ride, light, laterally stiff and very pleasing to the eye. The rub, we blew out the rear hub at 1200 total miles. While we are not typical tandemneers we are not off the end of Bell Curve. Team weight is 330 and we do a fair amount of hard climbs but then also are 53 and 50 years old. The stoker is 130 pounds of loveliness so you can readily cipher the source of the issue. If you are a light team or do little intense climbing the rear hub may not be an issue. In my opinion the T-2000 is overall a very good bike and a solid value. The stock wheels, Bontrager Tandem Race Lites, other than the rear hub are just fine. They are too good and also to costly to trash so I am looking for a replacement hub to salvage them. Hopefully Trek will continue to produce this tandem with a more reliable rear hub. On foot pushing a beautiful bike is no place to be, but it beats pushing an ugly bike.

Borrowed Burley as an experiment. Burley ride can't be beat for plushness. Weight is perhaps another matter. In a two dimentional world (Florida and Lousiana) they may be the solution.

Aero, fairly light, handle well (laterally stiff)

The rear hub is obvious;y an issure - blew out the freehub pawls with less than 2000 miles on the wheels.

These came on the bike - Trek T2000 tandem I was actually hoping to find info about these wheels, not to be the first review. Unfortunately the reason I was looking for info is because on todays group ride as we started up "the big hill" we blew out the freehub and had to call for a ride home. Until this incident these wheels were great, loved them. Fairly light for a tandem wheel, aero and handle well... but all that goes out the window if you have to walk home... If these were reliable I'd rate them a 4... since we had to walk a 2...

First time on a Bontrager (DT swiss?) wheel.

  1. Trek T2000 Tandem Bike user reviews : 3.9 out of 5

The T2000 feels lightweight and the high-end looking Bontrager bladed spoke wheels make for easy acceleration and lots of compliments at the ride breaks. The bike has taken the usual road bumps around town and seems to stay intact with the exception of the rear Tandem specific Bontrager wheel. The rear hubs have cracked after around 2000 miles.

Richard. 3096 posts · Joined 2006. #2 · Sep 23, 2006. The T2000 is definitely in the ballpark with the Santana and the Burley. Bang for the buck, the T2000 is the way to go. The Santana is very nice but, I believe, significantly more expensive. And Burley is now out of the bike business (a shame) and will concentrate on the trailer market.

  12. Trek T1000 Tandem Bike user reviews : 3.7 out of 5

This was an upgrade from a first generation Trek T-200 steel frame. The first thing I noticed is that the T-1000 is ridiculously light-weight. This is a workhorse tandem. You won't have to swap many parts to get tons of mile on this bike. At $1000 less than a Santana or similar ride it is a great value for a high performance tandem.

  13. Cannondale Road Tandem Tandem user reviews : 4 out of 5

Weakness: Rear brake pads rubbing, does take some adjusting. Struggle to get panniers on due to the disk brakes. Cannondales cost a fortune here in blighty. Tandems are ace fun, and this is the best road Tandem to do it on. We tested the Trek T2000 (which cost a fair bit more) and prefered the Cannondale.

    5. ★★★★★. ★★★★★. Strength: Strong frame and light for the price range. Weakness: None. This Trek T900 is our second Tandem it's low stoker stand over height is the main reason for picking this frame. The frame light and provides a solid stable ride with no flex with good feedback.
