► Ford’s new small van-ish MPV tested ► Funky looks, and it’s a Puma underneath ► Petrol manual or auto for now; prices start from under £26k

Well, doesn’t this look funky? For a small van, we’d challenge anyone who can find a van-based people carrier bolder and more interesting to look at than Ford’s new Tourneo Courier.

It’s based on the same platform as the Puma (and built in the same factory in Romania as it) as well as the departed Fiesta ( RIP, forever in our hearts, etc. ). It’s designed to seat five, carry a lot of your stuff and fit into family life easily. Looking funky, particularly in the ‘Bursting Green’ and white colour combo pictured, is a bonus.

Dimensions-wise, the Tourneo Courier has grown longer and taller than the previous generation – mainly so the Transit Courier panel version version can feature a larger cargo load area able to fit two pallets inside. But that means the latest Courier strays into the same broad part of the market as the already-on-sale Tourneo Connect (which shares its underpants and tech with the VW Caddy ). Ford’s aware of this, and says the Courier offers things the Connect doesn’t and vice versa; the Courier has a lower entry price and is meant to be the more stylish of the two, while the forthcoming EV model will provide another powertrain the Connect currently can’t.

What versions of the Tourneo Courier are there?

For Europe, Ford is offering Trend, Titanium and Active specifications with the UK market only selling the upper two. Trend features a digital instrument cluster, SYNC 4 infotainment with as-standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, all of the latest safety kit including cruise control and traffic sign recognition and steel wheels with wheel trims. Titanium adds in alloys, some tartier design details, climate control and keyless start among other bits. Active (pictured below), meanwhile, is designed for that #lifestyle audience with bespoke alloys, chunky body cladding, its own upholstery design inside as well as parking camera and adaptive cruise.

The sole engine available is Ford’s 1.0-litre, turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine developing 123bhp, and is available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Prices start from under £26k in the UK for a Tourneo Courier Titanium with a manual ‘box.

And then, of course, there’s the Transit Courier – the panel van version that’s launched at the same time; that’s available with diesels that better suit the fleet market as well as some handy cargo-focused touches to maximise the amount of stuff that can be carried.

What’s the Tourneo Courier like inside?

ford courier journey trend

Utilitarian, but not in a dull or overly cheap kind of way. It’s also (thankfully) not just a clone of the Fiesta/Puma’s interior either – some thought has been put into it. There are storage cubbies in the dashboard top, both behind the instrument/screen cluster and on the passenger’s side, and there are even some neat stowage ideas like a thin paperwork/laptop holder by the passenger’s leg as well as some overhead stowage.

Another point Ford is keen to point out is the oddly-shaped random bit of plastic sticking out of the dashboard beside the infotainment screen – product managers tell us it’s designed for proprietary phone clips as so many (mostly Transit, rather than Tourneo) users still wanted their phone mounted visibly close. Having this anchor point means you won’t need to suction a holder onto the windscreen or clip it to a flimsy air vent fin.

ford courier journey trend

There are also very few physical buttons here, meaning you’re relying on the standard SYNC 4 infotainment to do a lot of the heavy lifting. And… it’s fine – if a bit clunky and menu-heavy. There’s only a set of shortcuts and the starter button in the centre and points for the lighting – and that means a fiddly screen-based climate control set-up as well as several prods to turn off the mandatory audible speed limit warning bong every journey.

The driving position is highly adjustable and allows taller drivers to still sit low, although the digital instruments are starkly vertical, so some clever steering wheel adjustment might be needed depending on how you sit. Higher-spec models feature AGR-rated seats (AGR is the German ‘Campaign for Healthy Backs’ organisation) that provide plenty of support for long journeys. But, even if you don’t spec them, the seats are reasonably comfortable enough for long journeys and don’t make you feel like you’re perched on the car rather than in it.

ford courier journey trend

As for practicality, the Courier comes armed with some more clever ideas. The boot space is large (and 480 litres larger than the old Courier from boot floor to roof) as well as square, with a low loading lip. As well as some hooks for hanging bags, Ford has included a hinged, pop-out box that can be used for storing small items or even dirty things like muddy walking boots. The box can be lifted out and washed clean for later use. Those in the second row will benefit from great headroom and decent legroom even behind tall drivers, but the seat bench itself doesn’t slide or recline, is only split 60/40 and only features two sets of ISOFIX points.

ford courier journey trend

What’s the Tourneo Courier like to drive?

Overall, it’s a bit of a sweetie. But that’s to be expected, given it runs on the same platform as the Puma and Fiesta – two cars that have always been known for their great handling characteristics. While there are naturally some engineering tweaks for the Tourneo Courier compared to the Puma (like its own steering geometry and a tougher rear suspension setup to handle more weight), overall it feels remarkably similar – and that’s good.

ford courier journey trend

And few besides Ford can make a manual transmission and pedal box both engaging to use and smooth to live with. The clutch bites early, the brakes feel firm and crisp and – despite being a boosty three-cylinder engine – throttle response is reasonable. Acceleration feels more than enough from the buzzy three-cylinder, and can still pull skin off custard if it’s fully loaded. How do we know? We also tried EcoBoost Transit Courier models with a 500kg load in the back and didn’t feel much in the way of a performance loss.

The ride and handling is neatly balanced, too. There’s some body roll through the corners, yes, but the Courier’s suspension setup handles ruts and potholes well enough. What’s also commendable is the lack of wind noise despite quite a bluff nose.

ford courier journey trend

The only significant black mark against it is the dual-clutch automatic. It’s immediately obvious the ‘box is designed for maximum efficiency, upshifting as early as it can and broadly changing gears smoothly. But when you want to exploit a small gap at a roundabout or prepare for an overtake, downshifts are frustratingly ponderous and require severe pokes of the throttle to get a more appropriate gear. Having an auto option will be useful for many, but this one manages to sap some of the fun out of what is a sweetly balanced small family car – particularly when there aren’t any steering wheel-mounted paddles for shifting gears yourself.

Verdict: Ford Tourneo Courier

Has Ford just made a van… cool? Probably not, but the Tourneo Courier is a very well-rounded, smartly dressed, deeply likeable and cleverly packaged product. To our eyes it looks bold and interesting, despite being a markedly sensible and logical car filled with proven engineering. It almost handles like a Puma, zips around eagerly with its buzzy three-cylinder and manages to look good doing it.

The auto’s not brilliant and the button-light interior interface might be fiddly but, frankly, the Courier’s biggest thorn in its side will be the Dacia Jogger, let alone slightly larger Stellantis MPVs (like the Peugeot Rifter or Citroen Berlingo) available for similar money. The Ford handles better, feels better built and ties on charm compared to Dacia’s maxi mover, but the gulf in price will be hard to ignore for some.

Ford Tourneo Courier review

Ford Tourneo Courier review Top Gear

Hugely spacious, surprisingly good to drive

Not the most flexible seating, climate controls are needlessly fiddly

What is it?

Well, in some ways it’s kinda the new Ford Fiesta . Okay that’s a stretch (literally), but the new Ford Tourneo Courier does use plenty of bits from the Puma , and those bits originated in the now-dead Fiesta . Can you tell we still miss the dinky little hatch?

Anyway, the Tourneo Courier could also be described as the people-carrying version of the Transit Courier van. And if you get lost in the array of Transits available like we do, it’s worth remembering that the Courier is the smallest and cheapest.

Tell me more about those looks…

Ford describes this thing as a “multi-activity vehicle” with “SUV-inspired styling”, but we’re delighted that it looks very much like a return to the proper boxy MPVs of old. Ford’s marketing manager for commercial vehicles Alan Ross tells TG that the target customer “likes outdoor activities” and there’s so much room for activities on the inside too.

Wait, how many people can I fit in it?

The Tourneo Courier is a strict five-seater. If you want seven, you’ll need to make the jump up to the Tourneo Connect, and if you need nine seats then there’s the Tourneo Custom . If you need any more seats than that then maybe you should consider how many kids is too many.

But Ford doesn’t judge, so there’s also the Transit Minibus that can come with 11, 12, 14, 15, 17 or 18 seats. And no, we don’t know why the full-sized one is still badged as a Transit rather than a Tourneo.

Anyway, for some further context the 1.5-tonne Tourneo Courier is just over 4.3m long, 1.8m wide and just over 1.8m tall, so it’s not a big car. And yet it still manages a massive 1,188 litres of boot space (from floor to ceiling) with all of the seats in place.

What powertrains can I have?

Great question. At the time of launch all Tourneo Courier’s come with a 123bhp version of Ford’s familiar 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine. That can be combined with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, and in the future we’ll see an all-electric E-Tourneo Courier that should also share its 134bhp powertrain with a Puma EV. Heck, the two cars are built on exactly same line in the same factory in Romania.

READ MORE Ford e-Transit

How much will it cost me?

Another very valid question. You can find out more over on the Buying tab of this review, but the headline is that prices start at just under £26,000 for the entry-level Titanium spec. Almost sounds reasonable in today’s market, doesn’t it?

What are the rivals?

Sadly, there really aren’t that many proper people carriers left on the market these days, but the Tourneo Courier arrives wanting to pick a fight with the Citroen Berlingo. That’s the only Stellantis van-based car that still comes with an internal combustion engine, whereas the E-Tourneo Courier will go up against the e-Berlingo , the Peugeot e-Rifter and the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric when it does eventually arrive.

Still, the Courier should also nab some sales from small crossovers like the Puma that this thing is based on, and the world will be a better place with fewer crossovers.

Our choice from the range

Ford Tourneo Courier review

What's the verdict?

It can’t just be us thinking that the Tourneo Courier is now a genuinely cool little car. Yes, it’s based on a van, but that bluff front end and the Active trim’s chunky styling makes it look like a proper rufty-tufty MPV. The little 3cyl engine and manual gearbox are a great combo too and make it fun to drive, but it still remains comfortable and refined enough to transport a family.

There are some missteps inside, but overall, it’s a clever family car that will make much more sense than a Puma for most people. Let’s see if the buying public can shake off that irrational love of crossovers…

Introduction, what car says....

As predictably as middle-aged spread, vans tend to get bigger with each new generation – but few models have expanded as drastically as the Ford Transit Courier .

You see, while the original Courier was based on the Ford Fiesta, this second-generation version takes the larger Ford Puma as a starting point. As a result, its length has increased from just over 4.1m to 4.3m – and, more importantly, it's now capable of transporting heavier payloads.

As you can see from the photos, it's also had a complete redesign for 2024. The new front end looks closer to, say, a Ford Explorer than the other small and medium vans that share the  Ford Transit  name (the Connect and Custom). It’s still unmistakably a van, though.

Despite its growth spurt, the Courier remains shorter than the Transit Connect and Citroën Berlingo Van , which measure around 4.4m in overall length. They're also available in long-wheelbase versions, which the Courier is not.

So, how does the new Ford Transit Courier stack up as a competitor to the best small vans available? Read on to find out...

Performance & drive

What it’s like to drive, and how quiet it is.

Ford has a solid reputation for building vehicles that are really rather good to drive, and the new Transit Courier is certainly no exception to this.

When the driving dynamics of larger vehicles such as the mid-sized Ford Transit Custom are done well, it’s more noticeable than in a small van like the Courier, but the fine balance that has been achieved here is no less impressive.

The steering is noticeably heavy, but that’s not a bad thing. It gives the pint-sized Courier a feeling of substance that you don’t get in a Citroën Berlingo and is very different to the super-light steering you’d find in a VW Caddy Cargo .

It handles brilliantly in both a city or out-of-town environment, and the most obvious comparison is with the Ford Puma small SUV it's based on. The two are very similar – and that's a positive.

The ride, although slightly firm, is a good fit for a commercial vehicle of this size, and with a modest payload its perfectly suited to a variety of road surfaces with good dampening. There’s a little bit of noticeable roll into corners and the front end fidgets a bit out of a tight bend but overall you get the well-judged and very Ford-like ride we’ve come to expect.

The Transit Courier is available with a petrol or diesel engine, with a manual or automatic gearbox . The 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrols are available with 99 or 123bhp, will feel a bit gutless with a full payload, so if you plan to do a lot of heavy lifting, the 99bhp 1.5-litre diesel is likely to be a better choice.

Ford Transit Courier image

The diesel’s lower revs and greater torque will make easier work of it than the high-revving fervour needed to keep the petrol engines in their higher peak torque bands. The diesel will have the added benefit of less noise intrusion into the interior – not that that’s an issue in what is generally a quiet and pleasant place.

There will also be an electric van version soon – the Ford E-Transit Courier – which we'll review separately.

Driving overview

Strengths Great handling; powerful diesel engine; quiet inside

Weaknesses Petrol engine not suited to a van

Ford Transit Courier interior dashboard

The interior layout, fit and finish

Ford has built the Transit Courier to almost the size of the Transit Connect, but it’s been made to a very clear price point that sits below its sibling, and that’s reflected in parts of the interior.

The piano-black surrounds to the dial and dash are reminiscent of the Transit Custom but there’s less finesse elsewhere in this little van. Some plastics are hard and inexpensive-looking, and although efforts have been made to make them interesting, it’s not quite up to the standards we’ve become accustomed to in Ford interiors.

Ergonomically, though, it's excellent, with tried-and-tested steering-wheel controls, a firm but supportive seat with plenty of travel, and a rake and reach adjustable steering wheel. Visibility is great in all directions, with well-sized, electronically adjustable door mirrors.

The infotainment is managed by the SYNC 4 system with an 8in infotainment touchscreen and wireless smartphone mirroring as standard. There’s also a digital trip display in the instrument cluster.

Storage is adequate but not overwhelming – it's fairly typical for a small van. There are numerous cubbies for small items, the most intriguing of which is just to the side of the infotainment screen.

It looks like a coin shelf, and indeed it would make useful storage for car park barrier tokens and the like. It is, in fact, designed with mobile phones in mind, and provides a point for a mount to be fixed to rather than using air vents.

There’s an overhead storage tray, which is the best location for larger items, and a sizeable glovebox for such a small van.

One negative for many people will be the lack of physical controls for the air-con, which must be adjusted using the touchscreen. It's annoying – but perhaps still preferable to the swipe-and-slide function used in the Ford Transit Connect and VW Caddy Cargo.

The Courier is an entry-level van, so it’s not surprising that it’s interior is not quite up to the standards of the its larger Ford Transit models, yet it doesn’t feel too different to the Citroën Berlingo Van. Ford’s design and tech make up for its material shortcomings.

Interior overview

Strengths Great ergonomics; comfortable; novel mobile phone holder

Weaknesses Limited large item storage; some cut-price plastics

Red Ford Transit Courier load bay

Passenger & boot space

How it copes with people and clutter.

Everything practical about the Ford Transit Courier has improved over the smaller previous-generation van.

It's marginally smaller in length, height and width than obvious competitors like the Citroën Berlingo van, Ford Transit Connect and Vauxhall Combo Cargo, which are in turn slightly smaller than the Mercedes Citan and Renault Kangoo .

Sitting at the bottom of the pack doesn’t mean it can’t punch upwards: the Transit Courier offers a 2.9m 3 loadspace, which compares reasonably well with the 3.3m 3 you’d get from the smallest Berlingo. Maximum load lengths are up to 1,802mm, which matches the Berlingo, while the addition of a load-through bulkhead increases capacity to 2,667mm.

For the smallest van in its class, it manages to match the competition without feeling compromised and can still transport two Euro pallets thanks to its 1,220mm width between the wheelarches.

It’s not let down on payload either. That’s because it's available in two gross vehicle weights, enabling  Ford to offer a high payload option of up to 845kg. Standard vans have a payload range between 615kg and 676kg depending on engine and trim spec.

Practicality overview

Strengths Space for two pallets; useful high payload option; load-through bulkhead

Weaknesses Less volume than rivals

Ford Transit Courier interior infotainment

Buying & owning

Everyday costs, plus how reliable and safe it is.

Safety equipment is abundant in the Ford Transit Courier, with driver, passenger and curtain airbags all standard, alongside automatic emergency braking ( AEB ), cruise control, intelligent speed assist, lane-keeping assist and hill hold.

Aside from more parking sensors on top of the stand reverse parking aid, there really isn’t much else to add to the Courier beyond what you get on the entry-level Leader model.

The next trim up – called Trend – adds fog lamps, and also nice-to-have items such as heated seats, air conditioning and a quick-clear windscreen.

The range-topping Active looks more sophisticated than the other vans with a honeycomb mesh grille and larger 17in alloys, but one tier below, the Limited models get the important and useful stuff like front parking sensors, digital rear camera and keyless entry.

Limited is normally the sweet spot in the Ford range, but so generous are the options on the standard Leader van that it’s probably only really worth looking one trim level up to the Trend range.

Unless you have a particularly good reason to buy the petrol van, we’d stick with the diesel option. It has a slick six-speed manual gearbox, and has the power and torque to comfortably cover all bases. As an added bonus, it’s also significantly more fuel-efficient than the petrol, with WLTP figures ranging from 51.3mpg to 55.4mpg depending on which of the trim levels you choose.

Even if you want to break the bank and go for the more costly diesel in range-topping Active trim, it will still be cheaper than the equivalent Citroën Berlingo Van

The Transit Courier comfortably matches the competition for safety features, and has been recognised as the safety van tested under the Euro NCAP testing regime.

Costs overview

Strengths Good mpg for diesel vans; high standard equipment; highest NCAP safety rating

Weaknesses Top-spec van doesn’t add much

Ford Transit Courier van review

The baby of the transit family offers practical and affordable urban transport with plenty of style.

Ford Transit Courier front

4.0 out of 5

  • Build quality
  • Practical cab
  • Great to drive
  • One body style
  • Limited engine range
  • Sport model all show, no go

The Transit family has something to suit everyone these days, and the Transit Courier is meant for businesses that need a nippy and cheap to run urban delivery vehicle that’s no hassle to park, but can still muster a decent amount of load space.

With a limited but efficient and economical engine line-up consisting of a perky three-cylinder petrol plus a punchier diesel, and options that include up-to-date infotainment systems and go-faster style packages, the Courier’s appeal extends well beyond the showroom.

With rivals at its size few and far between, if the Courier fits your job description it’s almost a no-brainer.

About the Ford Transit Courier

There's now a  Ford Transit  variant for sale that will suit any occasion, and if you want the smallest model in the line-up, you're looking at it here, the Transit Courier. In official terminology it’s a B-platform integrated style van – in other words a purpose-built vehicle that's based on the same underpinnings as Ford’s B-segment cars. The Transit Courier has been around for a few years now – it first went on sale in 2013 – and it's based on the same running gear that featured in the  B-Max  small MPV and previous-generation  Fiesta . While it's a small Transit, the Courier isn't the smallest van that Ford makes - the Fiesta Van is based on the current generation Fiesta.

The Courier comes from a famous family, but it's still a pretty niche product. It used to rival the now-discontinued  Peugeot Bipper  and  Citroen Nemo , so now its only direct rival is the  Fiat Fiorino , but that van feels pretty old in comparison, especially because the Transit Courier was given an update in 2019 to keep it fresh. Other alternatives to consider include larger models in the compact van market, including Ford's own Transit Connect. However, the Courier is targeted principally at urban users who need a van that’s nippy in traffic and easy to park, and in that instance, it fits the bill.

Best small vans - header image

For a while, Ford offered a five-seat Transit Courier Kombi, but if you want more than two seats from a Transit Courier today, you'll have to move across to the Tourneo Courier small MPV. There's just a single Transit Courier panel van body option, but it comes in Leader, Trend, Limited and Sport trims, and all models get ESC stability control, remote central locking, fuel-saving stop-start, a DAB radio with Bluetooth and USB connection, a fixed bulkhead, asymmetric rear doors and an engine immobiliser.

Go for Trend trim, and you get a sliding side door, plastic wheel trims, auto lights and wipers, electric windows and mirrors, fog lamps, height adjustable driver’s seat, leather steering wheel, a locking glovebox and SYNC 3 with a 4-inch colour screen, among other things.

Limited trim is a lot more lavish and gets you 15-inch alloy wheels, colour-coded front bumper, painted door handles and side mouldings, parking sensors, cruise control, manual air-con and a 6-inch touchscreen.

ford courier journey trend

At the top of the range, Sport models feature body stripes, black alloys and extra leather trim inside with red stitching on the steering wheel which also gets audio controls.

Three turbocharged engines are offered: a 1.5 TDCi diesel in 75PS (74bhp) and 100PS (99bhp) guises and a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder EcoBoost 100PS petrol. Which engine you get depends on the trim you choose: the EcoBoost is offered in all trims (although it's only expected to account for a fraction of overall sales), but the Leader only comes with the 75PS diesel, while both TDCi engines are available in Trend trim, and Limited and Sport models only offer the 100PS diesel. Van payloads range between 519kg and 595kg.

Based on Ford passenger car underpinnings, the Transit Courier drives extremely well for a small van. Economy from the impressive engine range is very strong with up to 66mpg quoted in WLTP testing. Ford has also done fine work in creating a roomy cabin and a user-friendly load bay in the limited space available.

MPG, CO2 and Running Costs

Low running costs should be the cornerstone of any commercial vehicle, and that's doubly important at the smaller end of the LCV segment. The Transit Courier doesn’t disappoint on this score, with a WLTP test-best of 57.6mpg and emissions of 129g/km in its most economical guise.

Those figures are courtesy of Ford's 1.5 TDCi diesel, and both the 75PS and 100PS engines have the same quoted figure, although the Sport model dips slightly, with best economy of 55.4mpg and emissions of 133g/km. Standard-fit stop-start will help keep running costs down.

Go for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, and again stop-start helps the 100PS engine return 42.2mpg in the Transit Courier Base, while higher spec Trend and Limited variants have a WLTP best of 41.5mpg. Emissions are in the 152-153g/km range. Ford fits its EasyFuel system to all cars to prevent operators unwittingly putting petrol in their diesel van and visa-versa.

Ford Transit Courier Sport - side

All Transit Couriers, irrespective of petrol or diesel power, have service intervals that have been stretched to 20,000 miles. There’s a 3-year/100,000-mile warranty on all models and residual values are up with the best in the class. It all goes towards making the Courier an extremely cost-effective van to run.

Load Space and Practicality

Measuring 4,175mm long and just over 2,060mm wide, including its unfurled door mirrors, the Transit Courier naturally gives away something in load space compared to larger vans. Ford has made the best of what space there is, though, with a 2.3 cubic metre load volume and a maximum payload of 595kg that’s reasonable for a small van.

The load bay really is surprisingly generous, with a 1,620mm load length at floor level and 1,012mm between the wheelarches so that a Europallet will fit. All models get a moulded bulkhead as standard, but there’s the option of adding a steel bulkhead with a window for better rear visibility. Alternatively, the optional folding mesh bulkhead swings open to increase the load length to 2,590mm. It comes with a less comfortable folding passenger seat but many operators will happily specify it for the extra versatility (not available on the Transit Courier Sport).

The Courier’s asymmetrically-split side hinged rear doors open to 158 degrees and the sliding side doors (single sided on Trend and above, a second door is available at extra cost) provide impressively wide access points to the rear. With six tie-down points and optional LED lighting, the load bay has been well thought out in this van.

ford courier journey trend

Reliability and Safety

All Transit Courier models get stability control and ABS with brake assist and brake force distribution. There’s a driver’s airbag but no passenger airbag as standard, while side airbags are also optional. Also on the standard kit list are big van features such as Hill Launch Assist, Trailer Sway Control and Roll-over Mitigation.

The Trend models add useful features like auto headlamps and wipers but Ford’s excellent Quickclear heated windscreen is a cost option on all models.

Ford claims to have subjected the Transit Courier to a rigorous testing programme that’s 35% more severe than that applied to its passenger cars. Over one million miles were covered in various conditions and on the full range of road surfaces. Ford even took the time out to slam the Transit Courier’s doors 250,000 times. A multi-piece rear bumper and high-mounted lights help to keep repair costs down should an accident happen.

Security is handled by a standard remote central locking system that allows you to select which doors it opens. There are two optional alarm systems - a basic perimeter alarm, or a more advanced Thatcham Category One system that will impress your insurance company more.

Driving and Performance

The 1.5 TDCi diesel is the mainstay of the Transit Courier range. The 1.5-litre unit offers either 74bhp and 170Nm of torque or 99bhp and 215Nm if you go for the 100PS version.

With torque available from low revs, the 100PS engine is a punchy performer. All vans feature a six-speed manual gearbox (there's no auto option) and power is sent to the front wheels. Refinement is generally good, with the noise levels in the cab only becoming intrusive as the engine homes in on the top of its rev range, by that time the power is starting to tail off anyway, and both units are flexible enough to make the Courier feel light on its feet around town.

Best automatic vans

The other engine option is the 1.0-litre EcoBoost, a powerplant we’ve been thoroughly impressed with in Ford’s passenger cars. It’s the cheapest of the Courier’s three engines (around £700 less than the 75PS diesel, and a decent £1,200 less than the 100PS), and with 99bhp plus a charismatic off-beat three-cylinder thrum it’s the most enjoyable to drive.

That counts for little in the LCV space, however, and unless you’re sticking solely to urban centres, the fuel economy penalty of petrol power will be too big to overcome. On our test the performance and superior refinement of the EcoBoost unit impressed but the diesel model felt slightly more planted on the road, possibly as a result of the extra weight in the nose.

Ford has managed to transfer the supple ride and handling fluency we’ve come to expect from the Fiesta to the Transit Courier, and the result is an excellent driver’s van. It corners with impressive stability, steers precisely and rides smoothly. The six-speed manual gearbox is also great to use.

Cab and Interior

Even the entry-level Transit Couriers get a height and reach adjustable steering wheel that helps create a comfortable driving position for drivers of most sizes. There’s also good visibility out of the front and, surprisingly, the rear too – if you specify the glazed bulkhead and rear doors.

Much of the switchgear in the cab is lifted from Ford passenger cars, and an update in 2019 introduced Ford's Sync3 touchscreen infotainment system, which decluttered the centre console significantly. However, the switches that govern the ventilation system lower down on the centre console are still a little fiddly to use thanks to the small buttons.

Space for the driver and front passenger are far better than you’d expect in a van of this size and it’s the same story for storage space. The deep storage bin between the front seats is backed-up by large door pockets and a decent glovebox. Trend models get an overhead storage shelf and more space under the passenger seat.

Ford Transit Courier van review (2023)

  • Used prices

The smallest Transit is a neat solution for those upgrading from a car-based van

  • Large load area for its size
  • Well-designed interior
  • Good to drive
  • Impressive fuel economy
  • Holds its value well
  • Least practical Transit, unsurprisingly
  • Diesel engines feel slightly sluggish
  • Petrol engines not ideal for long distance
  • Small model range on early versions
  • Lacks latest active safety aids

ford courier journey trend

The Ford Transit Courier was the fourth and final model to join the Transit family when it was first launched in 2014. It’s also the smallest, sitting below the Transit Connect and representing a slightly more practical (and often cheaper) alternative to the Ford Fiesta Van.

Our 2023 Ford Transit Courier review covers the whole range, including the 2018 facelift - a big overhaul, bringing new looks and technology to Ford's smallest van.

With most of its rivals now discontinued there are few alternatives if you're looking for a lot of space in a little package.

So how practical is the Ford Transit Courier?

Unsurprisingly, most customers for this van are one-person operators or small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It targets buyers that need something more practical than a car-based van, but only just.

Ford Transit Courier review, rear view, grey

While it takes up little more space on the road, the Courier's cargo area is twice the size and considerably more practical than the Ford Fiesta Van 's.

It doesn't offer double the payload, however. For while the Courier initially managed a 660kg payload inside a 2.3-cubic metre load space, this fell to 500-590kg with the 2018 update (though the load space grew to 2.4 cubic metres).

The current Fiesta Van has just 0.96 cubic metres of space in the back, but can manage up to 530kg in weight.

You can read more about the smallest Transit's practicality on our dedicated Ford Transit Courier dimensions page.

Variants and rivals

As well as a regular van, the Transit Courier is also available as a five-seater Kombi model with a second row of three seats that can fold and tumble in a 60:40 split.

Besides the Fiesta Van, Transit Courier rivals include the  Fiat Fiorino  and its close relations the  Peugeot Bipper  and  Citroen Nemo , though the latter pairing were discontinued in the UK in 2017.

The only other truly car-derived van on sale in the UK is the Renault Zoe Van , an all-electric model with limited payload but plenty of green promise. Though if you want something that doesn't look like a van and don't mind a slightly larger vehicle, the SUV-based  Dacia Duster Commercial is incredibly good value for money and offers better practicality.

Ford Transit Courier 2018 facelift

Ford gave the Transit Courier a significant update in 2018. This included updated, more efficient engines and gearboxes, an upgraded media system and visual tweaks the front of the van.

Ford Transit Courier review, side view, grey

New driver-assistance kit to boost safety also became available at this point.

Inside, the centre console has been redesigned for easier use, with a new, larger 6.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system available on higher-spec models. running the latest Ford Sync 3 software and positioned closer to the driver for improved visibility.

The updated powertrains meet the latest Euro 6.2 emissions standards, with the option of a frugal 1.5-litre diesel and revised 1.0-litre petrols.

All versions gain six-speed manual transmissions in place of the previous five-speed unit, with improved shift quality, cruising refinement and better real-world fuel economy.

Helping to lower fuel consumption further in diesel models is a new efficiency package, including an Active Grille Shutter that shortens warm-up times and reduces aerodynamic drag.

Verdict: is the Ford Transit Courier any good?

Practical, cleverly designed, good to drive and very fuel-efficient, the Courier was a fine addition to the Transit family when it was first introduced, and it continues to wear the badge well.

Updates for 2018 and the phasing out of several rivals only serve to make the Courier stand out further.

  • Reliability

Ford Transit Courier driving experience

  • Petrol and diesel engine choices
  • Very good to drive
  • Comfortable ride quality

The Ford Transit Courier was available at launch in 2014 with a choice of three engines:

  • 75hp 1.5-litre TDCi four-cylinder turbodiesel
  • 95hp 1.6-litre TDCi four-cylinder turbodiesel
  • 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo petrol

The engine range was updated in 2018 with a new, more powerful 100hp 1.5-litre diesel replacing the previous 1.6-litre unit.

What's the Transit Courier petrol like to drive?

The EcoBoost is a niche choice (targetting around 5% of sales), which is a shame as it’s the nicest engine to drive.

Although it has less torque than the diesels, it’s more flexible and has a less laggy power delivery from low revs. If you drive primarily in towns and cities, or do journeys with frequent stops, it’s arguably the best choice, although on longer journeys it won't match the fuel economy of the diesel models.

Diesel engines best for most users

For higher-mileage use, the diesels make more sense, especially if you regularly drive long distances. The entry-level 75hp 1.5-litre version is capable and popular if you're looking for a low-cost option. It's also the only engine available to buyers of the five-seat Kombi model.

Ford Transit Courier review, 2019 facelift model, front view, white, driving, Sport

As for the now-phased-out 1.6-litre diesel, we tested this model with ballast equivalent to a half the Transit Courier's maximum payload. Performance certainly doesn’t set the world alight but it is quiet, and Ford claims impressive fuel economy figures.

That leaves the 100hp 1.5-litre diesel as the best option for those buying new after plenty of pulling power for dealing with heavy loads, or who do mostly motorway trips.

Car-like driving experience

The Courier handles very well - happily it shares the same excellent control weights, steering response and snappy gear change as many Ford cars.

Whether a part-laden van or an unladen Kombi, when tested we found the Courier to have superb ride quality, especially for such a small van with a short wheel base.

Ford Transit Courier review, 2019 facelift model, rear view, white, driving, Sport

Sound-proofing seems very good indeed, as well – there’s no need to raise your voice in conversation at motorway speeds. We imagine the fabric-covered bulkhead in the van versions we drove is partly to thank for this.

In driving experience terms, no rival comes close. This is a compact van that can genuinely put a smile on your face.

Ford Transit Courier cabin & interior

  • 2018 updates improve on already strong cab
  • Simple but robust design
  • Lots of car-like touches

The attractive, well-designed cabin is one of the Courier’s real strengths. Much of the dashboard and switchgear is familiar from Ford’s car models, such as the B-Max and the equivalent  Fiesta , and it all feels high-quality and durable.

Ford Transit Courier review - cab interior pre facelift

The updated infotainment system added during 2018 only adds to this impression, being located up high and offering crisp onscreen displays.

Now the steering wheel adjusts for rake and reach, it should be easier than before for drivers of all sizes to get comfortable behind the wheel. And there’s lots of leg room, even for very tall drivers.

Ford Transit Courier review - cab interior after 2018 facelift

A deep storage slot between the two seats has enough space for clipboards and laptops or digital tablets and the cup holders are spacious and easy to access, too.

Ford Transit Courier running costs & value

  • Promises very good fuel economy
  • Should be cheap to run
  • Plenty of choice

The Transit Courier has plenty going for it on the running costs front.

Every model is competitively priced, the cost of options isn’t outlandish, and healthy residual values mean it holds its value well - good for attractive finance costs.

Ford Transit Courier service intervals and warranty

Service intervals are at 20,000 miles and the van comes with a three-year/100,000-mile warranty.

Ford’s Assistance package is standard, including ‘load continuation’ whereby if a Courier breaks down on a delivery run, its contents can be delivered free of charge while the van is repaired.

Ford Transit Courier mpg

On the fuel economy front, the lowest Ford Transit Courier running costs belong to the 1.6-litre diesel, which claims a 74mpg average as standard, though this has since been discontinued.

A special low-emissions version of the same engine was also available, which, with a claimed 76.3mpg (and CO2 emissions of only 97g/km), made the Transit Courier the most economical van currently on sale.

The 1.5-litre diesel is pretty good too, managing 72mpg.

On the face of it, the petrol EcoBoost lags well behind at 54mpg, but for journeys around towns and cities it could actually be the more economical proposition as diesel engines don't typically like short journeys. This will depend on your driving style, however.

Following the introduction of tougher WLTP fuel economy tests in mid-2018, the title of most economical Transit Courier is now shared between the 75hp and 100hp 1.5-litre diesels.

These promise around 67mpg – still extremely good for a modern van.

Ford Transit Courier standard equipment

The Transit Courier launched with two equipment grades in 2014: Base and Trend.

Ford Transit Courier Sport, 2017 model, front view, red, driving

In 2017 an additional Sport model (above) joined the line-up, partially in compensation for the (temporary) death of the Fiesta Van Sport , which was popular and sold in good numbers.

Since then range-topping Limited trim has been introduced, and sits alongside Sport, offering extra interior kit rather than sporty design details.

As such these are the latest standard equipment highlights (at the time of writing in January 2020).

Ford Transit Courier Leader van (formerly known as Base) standard equipment highlights:

  • USB connectivity
  • Device Dock smartphone holder and docking station on top of the dashboard
  • Reach and rake adjustable steering wheel
  • Lidded glovebox
  • Full-size spare wheel
  • Fixed, moulded bulkhead
  • NOTE: no side loading door

Ford Transit Courier Leader Kombi M1 standard equipment highlights (in addition to Leader van):

  • Full front, side and curtain airbags
  • Fully-glazed, flip-out second-row windows
  • Dual sliding doors
  • Glazed, heated rear cargo doors with wash/wipe
  • Second row 60:40 split, fold/tumble seats

Ford Transit Courier Trend van standard equipment highlights (in addition to Leader van):

  • Ford Sync 3 4.0-inch  infotainment system (replaces Device Dock)
  • Powered, heated door mirrors
  • Electric windows
  • Driver's seat with height and lumbar adjustment plus armrest
  • Leather steering wheel and gearknob
  • Overhead storage
  • Underseat storage
  • Single side load door
  • 12-volt socket in load area
  • Automatic headlights and wipers
  • Front foglights
  • 15-inch wheels with hubcaps

Ford Transit Courier Limited standard equipment highlights (in addition to Trend ):

  • Ford Sync 3 with 6.0-inch touchscreen
  • Body colour front bumper and upper rear bumper end caps
  • Body colour door handles and side trim
  • Side load door track cover
  • Manual air-conditioning

Ford Transit Courier Sport standard equipment highlights (in addition to Trend ):

  • Body colour bumpers with integrated skid plate
  • Body-coloured side mouldings
  • Black painted door mirrors
  • Sport stripes
  • Leather gear knob with red stitching
  • Leather steering wheel with red stitching and radio controls
  • 16-inch black alloy wheels

Sat-nav is available as an option on all models.

The price difference between Base and Trend is very modest (around £800 excluding VAT at the time of writing), making the upgrade almost a no-brainer given the masses of additional equipment you get for your money - especially as this should also deliver better resale values when you come to sell the van on.

The difference in price between Trend and Sport is a little greater (around £1,250 ex. VAT at time of writing), but again you get good value for money and a distinctive-looking compact van that could help your business stand out from the crowd.

Clever design helps to save money

The rear bumper has a multi-piece design to make it cheaper to repair, while Ford’s Easyfuel system is fitted as standard, which supposedly makes it impossible to fill up with the wrong type of fuel. We understand that some people still manage to do this, however, so best to try and pay attention at the pumps!

Ford Transit Courier reliability, common problems & faults

  • Based on well-established, proven tech
  • No reports of horror stories
  • If you have had issues let us know via our feedback email address

The Ford Transit Courier is assembled in Turkey. Ford says it has covered nearly a million miles in testing, and - for example - doors have been opened and closed 250,000 times to make sure the mechanisms can cope with working life.

Further helping the van’s case is that its engines are already well-known from other Ford products, and much of its structure is well-proven too.

The front section of the floor and the majority of the Courier’s architecture in general is based on Ford’s B-Max small people carrier, which in turn borrows components from the Fiesta.

With that in mind, Ford Transit Courier reliability should be very strong.

Ford also reckons the keyfob is waterproof – handy if you drop it in a puddle.

Ford Transit Courier safety & security

  • Safety equipment ok rather than brilliant
  • No alarm fitted as standard on any model

Ford Transit Courier safety levels are reasonable, if not outstanding. The Tourneo Courier passenger version achieved a four-star Euro NCAP rating when it was tested in 2014, but the test has been made considerably tougher since then.

Standard Ford Transit Courier safety items include:

  • Electronic stability control (ESC)
  • Hill-start assist
  • Rollover Mitigation, which is triggered if sensors detect the van tilting past a dangerous point
  • Trailer Sway Control, which can brake individual wheels to keep trailers under control

Base Kombi models also feature no less than six airbags as standard, plus tyre pressure monitoring (this is optional on the rest of the range), while the Trend and Sport panel van models with Ford Sync include an emergency assist function.

In the event of an accident, this can automatically place a call direct to local emergency service operators if the occupants’ mobile phone is connected to the Bluetooth system. It can provide the van’s exact location and uses the correct local language to give the information, based on GPS information. Very clever.

However, while you can specify blindspot monitors as an optional extra, active safety aids such as autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist are not available at all.

As for security, the Transit Courier features remote locking and an immobilser as standard. You will have to pay extra for an alarm system, though.

Which Ford Transit Courier is best for me?

With no different body sizes available, your choice of Transit Courier comes down to what sort of level of standard equipment you want and whether a petrol or diesel engine will suit you better.

The lower the trim level the lighter the van, which helps to maximise payload and fuel economy. However, this is such a small van that maximum payload is unlikely to be a major concern for most buyers, and fuel economy is very good throughout.

So in this instance you may be better off simply going for the specification you want or can afford. We've a number of individual model variant reviews below to help you make up your mind - though the latest versions are pretty generously equipped regardless.

As for choosing petrol or diesel, the diesel versions will have greater fuel economy if you regularly do lengthy journeys. But modern diesels are not especially keen on short journeys - this tends to cause problems for diesel particulate filters and so on - so if you're most doing quick hops between jobs around town a petrol version may actually be more suitable.

Ford Transit Courier Sport 1.5 TDCI EcoBlue 100hp review

By Christofer Lloyd

Ford Transit Courier Sport review - 1.5-litre EcoBlue 100hp model, 2019, white, front view, driving

  • Facelifted Sport model tested
  • Slightly more power from newer engine
  • Still a stylish small van

It may only have 100hp, but this Sport model looks sharp enough to justify its higher price over lesser Trend models.

The diesel engine is surprisingly quiet at idle and pulls off reasonably promptly thanks to 215Nm of pulling power, with sufficient muscle to deal with heavy loads.

While quiet at low engine speeds, the volume level ramps up as you pick up speed, though this is what you’d expect in a small, diesel van. There is enough low-down heave to not have to work the engine too hard to make progress, however.

Making the most of the engine’s power is a very slick gearbox and an easy-to-balance clutch, which makes you feel like you’re driving a small car, rather than a tiny van. With six gears the engine is reasonably quiet at speed.

There’s not too much wind noise on the motorway either, though a lot of noise does resonate up from the road. The fabric-covered bulkhead in our test model did successfully prevent any noise from the load bay echoing into the cabin, though.

As for the suspension, it is quite firm, potentially exaggerated by the 16-inch alloys that come with Sport trim, meaning less rubber and more metal between you and the road.

The Courier is well set-up, though, meaning it’s mostly very comfortable, proving firm enough to feel up to lugging heavy loads without bouncing around the road, while remaining planted around corners. The brakes also feel strong and up to the task of keeping heavy loads in check.

Adding to this sense of security is nicely weighted steering that provides a good sense of control.

While the seat provides adequate back support, it took us plenty of fiddling with the seat to find a comfortable position in this version.

Ford Transit Courier Limited 1.0 EcoBoost 100hp review

Tested November 2018 by Christopher Lloyd

Ford Transit Courier Limited review - front view, 2018

  • Can petrol power make sense in a small van
  • Smooth and refined power delivery

Petrol power might still be a leftfield choice, even for a small van, but the turbocharged 1.0-litre in the Transit Courier makes a lot of sense.

Though it only has 100hp, it feels more than up to the task of punting the lightweight Courier along – provided you don’t plan on testing out the payload seven days a week.

That’s partly because the engine is so quiet and so smooth, it never feels like you’re working it hard. It’s an eager, responsive engine and while the Courier is not fast, it feels light and nimble with this tiny motor under the bonnet.

The engine is practically inaudible in the bottom half of the rev range and remains refined even in the top half, emitting a muted, but pleasant thrum.

We found the suspension a little on the firm side, not quite smoothing out roads that the diesel did. We wonder whether this is down to the petrol engine’s lighter weight not being matched with softer springs, effectively making it feel firmer as it taxes the suspension less than the diesel.

Fill the load area, however, and we’re sure that the ride would smooth itself out and even unladen, the Courier is still one of the most comfortable small vans.

As with the diesel, the gearbox is slick and easy to use, with six gears helping to make the most of the petrol engine’s power. Similarly, the steering is nicely weighted and gives a good sense of connection with the front tyres.

With the engine making less noise than the diesel, road noise is a little more noticeable, but still quieter than the diesel in Sport trim.

Ford Transit Courier Sport 1.6-litre TDCi 95hp review

Tested April 2017 by CJ Hubbard

Ford Transit Courier Sport review - 1.6-litre 95hp model, front view

  • Distinctive looks for Ford’s top-spec small van
  • Sport image and kit targets Fiesta Van owners
  • Good value, fun to drive, 1.5 diesel tested

Available with either the 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine or – as tested here – the 95hp 1.5-litre TDCi turbodiesel engine, the Sport becomes the new top-of-the-range model for the Transit Courier.

And yes, that red stripe is meant to be there. Even if it does look uncannily like someone forgot they left an open tin of paint on the roof and drove off. Let’s give it a whirl.

What’s special about the Transit Courier Sport?

The stripe, which comes in a choice of colours depending on the van’s body colour, makes an instant impression. Emphasising this further, the Sport is the only Courier to come with completely body-coloured bumpers and side mouldings as standard.

You also get a front and rear skid plates, a ‘Magneto Grey’ finish for the door mirrors and unique 16-inch alloy wheels, plus special Sport rocker panels. It’s no Transit Connect M-Sport , but it is striking, nonetheless.

Ford Transit Courier Sport review - 1.6-litre 95hp model, rear view

On top of that, standard equipment includes:

  • Manual air conditioning
  • Leather-trimmed steering wheel with red stitching
  • Part-leather seats (with more red stitching)
  • Glovebox illumination

Any chassis upgrades for the Courier Sport?

Sadly not. Unlike its Transit Custom Sport big brother, which gets lowered suspension and new anti-roll bars, the Transit Courier Sport uses the same basic chassis set up as the rest of the Transit Courier range.

So what’s it like to drive?

Turns out the lack of chassis mods is no real downer when the basic van is already great to drive.

In fact, we can’t think of any rival that will genuinely bring a smile to your face in the corners like this Ford can. It rides really nicely even if there’s nothing in the back, and the suspension easily checks body movement to stop it leaning over too far in the turns.

The only thing the Courier Sport really left us wanting was more performance than the 95hp and 215Nm this 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine can provide, and an extra ratio for the five-speed manual gearbox.

What’s it like in the cab?

Spacious. Headroom is vast and the windscreen feels like it’s miles away. The general design is influenced by Ford’s passenger cars, which means it looks quite smart – if also rather cluttered – but doesn’t have as many storage areas as it might if functionality had been placed ahead of finesse.

Ford Transit Courier Sport review - 1.6-litre 95hp model, cab interior

Still, the build quality feels rock solid – creaking far less than most VW vans, for example, including the Caddy – and refinement is good. It’ll be a comfy environment even over long journeys, even if the Ford Sync infotaiment system could certainly be less fiddly.

And the running costs?

Should be reasonable. Ford quotes 70.6mpg for this diesel model – and that’s without the optional stop-start system (74.3mpg) or the 62mph speed limiter (76.3mpg, when fitted with stop-start).

Realistically, you can expect to see 50+mpg, depending on how often you travel fully loaded.

Sohuld I buy a Ford Transit Courier Sport

The Transit Courier Sport is spacious for its size, good to drive and well equipped. Value for money remains high, and fuel economy is also impressive.

As for the way it looks, well, that’s over to you…

Ford Transit Courier Trend 1.6 TDCi 95hp review

Tested June 2015 by Liam Campbell

Ford Transit Courier Trend review - 2015 model, blue, front view

  • Smallest and lightest Transit ever
  • Great productivity, handling and economy
  • £13,221 price tag may turn some off

The Ford Transit Courier is the lightest and smallest vehicle in the Transit brand. It's also the latest van to compete in the ‘Compact Panel Van’ sector, which was pioneered by the SEVEL alliance (Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot) with the launch of their Nemo, Fiorino and Bipper in 2008. The only other competitor in this market is the Mercedes Citan Compact.

The well-finished cab is equipped to suit drivers of all shapes and sizes. An eight-way adjustable seat with lumbar support and armrest is standard on the Trend model, together with a steering wheel which is reach and rake adjustable.

Trend models also feature DAB radio with Ford SYNC, which features Emergency Assistance (can automatically alert the emergency services in the event of a crash), Bluetooth with voice control and eco-mode (gives the driver a fuel-saving score based on their driving style).

Clever, spacious storage compartments hidden under the seat are another feature to benefit Trend customers as is an overhead storage shelf.

It’s disappointing that passenger airbags still aren’t a standard feature on cargo vans, although the Courier is fitted with Electronic Stability Control (ESC/ESP), Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Emergency Brake Warning, Traction Control, Roll-Over Mitigation and Trailer Sway Control.

Remote control double locking (separate buttons for load area and cab) is also standard across the range.

At 215Nm, the 1.6-litre TDCi diesel is by far the torqueiest of the three engines offered. However, for this size of van and the nature of businesses it is aimed towards, the three-cylinder petrol engine might be worth a shout as it’s both powerful and economical when running around the city.

On the road

There’s no doubting that the 1.6 TDCi is the most refined of the three engines, but it seems unlikely that the engine will be carried through to Euro-6. It’s very smooth and quiet, and with 95hhp and 215Nm of torque, it’s very quick off the mark. The van also handles well, with minimal body roll into corners.

The Ford Transit Courier is a solid little van, offering respectable productivity, handling and fuel economy, but at £13,221 plus VAT, it’s not exactly cheap for a van of this size -especially when top end SEVEL vans are selling for around £10,000 maximum.*

For city users especially, Ford’s 1.0-litre ecoboost petrol engine may be worth considering rather than the heavier diesel.

Next-Gen Ford Transit Courier City Van Spied With New Front-End Design

It looks slightly larger than the model on sale now..

Next-Gen Ford Tourneo/Transit Courier spy photos.

While Ford's small van plans in the US are up in the air, things are different in Europe, where the automaker just launched the 2022 Tourneo Connect. The Transit Courier, also known as the Tourneo Courier, slots below the Transit/Tourneo Connect in the Blue Oval's European lineup. It rides on the same platform as the Fiesta, debuting nearly a decade ago, and its next-generation replacement is finally in development.

New spy photos capture the city-sized van covering most of its exterior with a tight-fitting camouflage wrap with a portion of the front fascia exposed. Both front grilles are covered alongside parts of the headlights, but a lot of the bumper is also visible, including the fog lights located on the face's outer edges. The rest of the van has the segment's typical boxy design, but it's not final and should change before it enters production.

Gallery: Ford Tourneo/Transit Courier Spy Shots

Ford Tourneo/Transit Courier Spy Shots

The current Tourneo Courier shares a platform with the bite-sized Fiesta, but it's unclear if the new model will continue that partnership. The van in the spy shots looks a tad larger than the current model, and its front-end styling looks like the Ford Puma. The headlights have the same shape but different internals, and even the fog lights look like they are located in the same position between the two vehicles. The Courier's exposed front fascia also features styling touches similar to the Puma's.

The new Tourneo Courier could ride on a modified Puma platform. The photos reveal the van with five-lug wheels, up from four on the current model and the previous-generation Fiesta . Lending credence to the idea that the new van could have Puma underpinnings is that Ford plans to begin producing a new light commercial vehicle in the same factory as the small crossover starting next year. Ford hasn't confirmed what vehicle that'd be, but this new van fits the bill.

Powertrain details are a mystery, but customers should expect gasoline, diesel, and electrified options. The ICE variants should debut sometime next year. A fully electric version is likely, but it won't break cover until 2024. US customers shouldn't expect this small van to reach our showrooms. It's too small for American tastes, and we'd rather have the Puma, anyway.

War in ukraine, free and up-to-date :), transportation to and from moscow sheremetyevo airport, what is the distance from moscow sheremetyevo airport to the centre of moscow.

The distance to the centre of Moscow (Saint Basil’s Cathedral / Red Square) is 34 kilometres from South Terminal Complex and 42 kilometres from North Terminal Complex. Thus, terminals A and B are further away from the city. Travel time between the airport and the city centre is 1 hour and 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it can be busy on the roads and you should take into account a car journey that takes longer.

From SVO Airport to Moscow City centre by Taxi

City centre

Public transport

Train aeroexpress to moscow – buy tickets.

The fastest travel option between Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and the centre of Moscow is the train Aeroexpress. You can get stuck in a traffic jam if you travel by car, taxi or bus, that won’t happen if you take the train. The Aeroexpress commutes between Belorussky Station in the city and the railway station at the airport, located on the south side of the airport at Terminal E. An automated people mover (APM) runs between this station and terminals A and B. The Aeroexpress departs every 30 minutes, travel time is 35 minutes.

From metro station Belorusskaya at Belorussky Station, you can travel by metro to the city centre and other parts of Moscow. The journey time from metro station Belorusskaya to metro station Teatralnaya close to Red Square is only 5 minutes.

Aeroexpress tickets The prices are listed below, an Aeroexpress ticket including a ride with the metro, tram or (trolley) bus costs 560 RUB, the price for a subway ticket is 55 RUB. You can buy tickets for the Aeroexpress at the stations, but it is cheaper to do this online. Please consult website and timetable Aeroexpress for more information.

Aeroexpress

SAVING TIPS: Tickets can be bought at the airport, but online it is easier and cheaper (450 RUB one way, 900 RUB return). A group ticket can be used by four people and costs 1,100 RUB for a single journey and 1,800 RUB for a return (valid for 30 days). The price is the same online and from the ticket machine. Aeroexpress trains run without stopping, besides you can use free WiFi aboard since early 2015.

Top 5 sights in Moscow

1. Red Square – free! 2. Moscow Kremlin 3. Saint Basil’s Cathedral 4. Moscow Metro Tour of 1.5 hours 5. Communist Walking Tour of 2 hours

Bus and metro to Moscow

It is more economical to travel by bus and metro to the centre of Moscow. Needless to say, taking a direct train is easier and faster. With bus 817 and bus 948 you can get in 35 minutes to metro station Planernaya (northernmost station metro line 7). With bus 851 and bus 949 it takes 25 minutes to metro station Rechnoy Vokzal (northernmost station metro line 2). The price of a bus ticket is 57 RUB or 80 RUB.

From both stations you can take the metro to the centre of Moscow, station Kuznetskiy Most for metro line 7 (travel time: 31 minutes) and station Teatralnaya for metro line 2 (travel time: 23 minutes). Metro station Kuznetskiy Most is a short distance from the world-famous Bolshoi Theatre. The total journey time is at least one hour. If the bus ends up in a traffic jam, the journey can take a lot longer.

Tickets for the subway priced 55 RUB are available from the ticket vending machines. You can also buy a day ticket (yediniy) for public transport in Moscow for 200 RUB, it is valid for 24 hours. During the night you can travel by bus H1 between the airport and the city every half hour. Please consult buses to and from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and  website Moscow Metro for more information.

“The metro stations with the most central location in Moscow are Okhotny Ryad (M1), Teatralnaya (M2) and Revolution Square (M3), at a short distance from Red Square, Kremlin and GUM.”
