Months After Dating Rumors, Tom Cruise And Hayley Atwell Hold Hands In New Mission: Impossible 7 Still

Last summer rumors were running around that Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell were dating as they filmed Mission: Impossible 7 . However, the actress made it clear that she’s just really great friends with her co-star recently, and she got engaged actor Ned Wolfgang Kelly, who she was linked to last summer. Now, with Dead Reckoning Part One coming out soon on the 2023 movie schedule , the actress posted a photo of her and the franchise’s leading man on Instagram of them holding hands. 

Hayley Atwell Shut Down Rumors That She Was Dating Tom Cruise  

Atwell shut down these dating rumors about Tom Cruise in early May, telling Country & Townhouse that she was aware of the discussions about her and her co-star. She explained that she does love him and the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One team, but in a platonic way. She said:  

I felt like if I ever was worried about it, I could talk to him [Tom]. And I know that he would’ve said, ‘People say whatever they want to say, but you know who you are, I know who I am and I want you to feel safe in this environment.’

She continued to gush about her love for both Tom Cruise and the action movie’s director Christopher McQuarrie , saying:

What I feel is the truly extraordinary power of platonic love, which seems to be sometimes under-represented. And my love for Tom, my love for McQuarrie, my love for the process of this [Mission], and also the people who they keep very close to them and who are very present on set, has a wholesomeness to it. That for me, I just found so beautiful, so, yeah, I can freely say ‘I love this group of people.’

While Atwell read for Jack Reacher , and could have worked with Cruise sooner, M:I 7 is the first time she’s worked with the action star. She’s been open about working with Cruise, and everything that goes into filming one of these epic action movies including the delays on Mission Impossible 7 and 8 . Now, as the cast is getting ready to release Dead Reckoning, the MCU actress posted a fun photo from set of her and her co-star getting close during an action sequence. 

A New Mission: Impossible Still Shows Tom Cruise And Hayley Atwell Holding Hands

Hayley Atwell took to her Instagram to post a new still from Mission: Impossible 7 in preparation for the movie’s release on July 12. The photo shows the Captain America actress handcuffed to Tom Cruise, and they’re holding hands. Check it out for yourself:

This isn’t the first time Atwell has addressed the handcuff scene . She explained that it’s not just Tom Cruise pulling off wild stunts. The Peggy Carter actress got to learn how to drift race, she backflipped over a bridge, jumped off a moving train, and had to run “uphill in high heels while handcuffed” to the Top Gun : Maverick star. 

While the actress posted a fun still from the movie, the footage of the two cuffed together was shown at CinemaCon earlier this year. It appears the chase happens after Atwell and Cruise’s characters get into some trouble involving INTERPOL, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) cuffs himself to Grace (Hayley Atwell) in an effort to make sure she can’t get away.

Tom Cruise has high hopes for his new relationship with girlfriend Elsina Khayrova .

“They’re very happy,” an insider told Us Weekly in an interview published on Wednesday, December 20. “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term.”

After noting that Tom, 61, and Elsina, 36, have been quietly dating for “a while now,” the source continued, “They’ve hung out at Tom’s favorite private members club and regularly enjoy afternoon tea and gourmet dinners out in London.”

The new couple met through mutual friends in London’s social scene. “Tom’s become a popular figure in London among the well-heeled, elite types,” the insider explained. “What started as a basic friendship quickly turned into something more special.”

While their relationship is still in the early stages, Elsina has won over Tom’s eldest children Isabella and Connor . The Top Gun star shares Isabella, 30, and Connor, 28, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman , while he is also the father to a teenage daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes .

Isabella and Connor “think Elsina is great and are so happy to see that their dad has love in his life again,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Tom seems to have found a good match after he spent years looking for his ideal partner. “He wanted to take his time and not rush into any relationships just for the sake of it,” the insider told the outlet.

“Elsina is very supportive of Tom and his work,” the source added. “She knows he has a lot of demands and obligations.”

The Risky Business star is “going into 2024 totally energized, excited and feeling healthier and happier than he has in years.” The insider stated, “This is a very special time for him, and having a serious relationship in his life that he can build on is the icing on the cake.”

Tom and Elsina’s romance was revealed when they were spotted on a date during a party at London’s Mayfair, according to The Daily Mail ’s report on December 15. The pair were reportedly “inseparable” and “clearly a couple” during the event, while the insider said Tom “seemed to be besotted with her.”

While Tom’s love life has been documented in the media, Elsina was also involved in a high-profile romance. She was previously married to Russian tycoon Dmitry Tsvetkov , who is an international deal mediator and diamond trader.

She filed for divorce in 2022 after more than a decade of marriage. The former couple share two children, though not much else has been revealed about their personal life as a couple.

However, Elsina and Dmitry did acquire several properties over the course of their romance. The pair bought a $27 million mansion on Surrey’s Wentworth estate and five flats in London that are approximately worth $22 million, as well as properties in Dubai and Cyprus that are worth $2.5 million.

Tom Cruise has reportedly made it official with his new girlfriend, Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36. “It’s well known within Elsina’s circle that she and Tom are now an item,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “They’ve grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy.”

They added, “Tom has been staying the night at Elsina’s apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do.”

Both Cruise, 61, and Khayrova reportedly recently attended a dinner in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity. Prince William was the guest of honour here.

The duo first fuelled romance rumours after reportedly canoodling at a party in London’s Mayfair neighbourhood in December last year. “They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail at the time.

Cruise has been married three times in the past. He tied the knot with Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012. Khayrova separated from her ex-husband Dmitry Tsetkov in 2022.

Tsetkov opened up about their bitter three-year divorce battle in 2023. He said the feud cost him more than $150 million.

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open,” he said. “I’m happy for her, I wish her all the best.”

The Mission: Impossible actor, 61, is said to be romancing Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, after eyewitnesses spotted them getting close on the dancefloor at a Mayfair party earlier this month. 

Since then, they’ve been spending more time together in the capital and opted to keep things simple with Tom whisking Elsina off for a fun evening at Christmas-themed fairground Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, where entry costs as little as £5.

‘With all their millions, Tom and Elsina can live the high life and never have to be near the public,’ an insider claimed. 

They added to The Sun : ‘But since they’ve been in London, they have been going out and about without anyone noticing them.

‘Last week they went on a secret date to Winter Wonderland so they could see the attractions. It is a really romantic spot for couples — and Tom and Elsina blended in perfectly.’ 

According to the source, Tom ensured they were able to go incognito and could be ‘whisked away’ without being detected, and luckily got the chance to take in all the attractions ‘just like everyone else.’ 

It certainly wouldn’t have been a boring date as Winter Wonderland offers all the festive fun and more, with attractions including an array of rollercoasters costing an average of £5, food and drink stalls, a Bavarian beer hall, ice bar and ice rink.

If Elsina was feeling a little peckish, traditional fish and chips will set Tom back around £14 while a warm cup of mulled wine costs £5.70.

However, the new couple haven’t shunned their wealthy lifestyle completely as Tom is said to have hired out an entire floor at swanky Mayfair restaurant Novikov so he could wine and dine Elsina in private last week. 

Elsina is certainly used to the high life as she is worth millions as the daughter of Russian MP Rinat Khayrov.

She was also married to multi-millionaire diamond and mining tycoon Dmitry Tsvetkov, who has since warned Tom of his ex-wife’s expensive taste . 

‘Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open,’ the oligarch told the Daily Mail . 

Despite the warning, Dmitry insisted that he’s ‘happy’ for his former spouse and wanted to ‘wish her all the best.’ 

Elsina and Dmitry, 43, were married for 11 years and their tumultuous divorce hit headlines when it was reported that his former spouse was hiding assets including her expensive handbag collection. 

After a three-year legal battle, Elsina was awarded her clothes and handbags in the divorce settlement while Dmitry’s fortune reportedly plunged from £200million to £50m.

Tom Cruise Is Reportedly Ready to Move on From His Ex Elsina Khayrova With His Co-star

Despite Tom Cruise seemingly being head over heels for Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, it seems he may have already moved on. Back in Dec 2023, he and Kharyova started making headlines for their romance, which lasted until March 2024 when he allegedly proposed to her and she said "no." Many thought he'd be off the dating market for some time, or at least laying low, but nope! Insiders claim that he has his eyes on a new gal: his co-star Monica Barbaro. 

Insiders alleged to InTouch Weekly that Cruise is allegedly hoping for a romance to bloom between him and his Top Gun: Maverick co-star. "Tom thinks she's stunningly beautiful. He'd like to explore a relationship with her."

They added, "People around Tom believe they're a great match. But he genuinely wants her to succeed."

And while Barbaro is reportedly "flattered," it may not happen as soon as Cruise wants. The source added, "She wants to prove that she's deserving of the role."

Not much else is known about this potential romance, but we do know that Barbaro played Lt. Natasha ‘Phoenix' Trace in the film, which was probably where they met. The 33-year-old star is also a talented actress and dancer who has appeared in projects like Stumptown, The Good Cop, and The Cathedral .

While we're getting whiplash from Cruise's recent, reported dating , maybe this one will bloom into something more?! We still can't believe his romance with Kharykova ended so quickly , especially since it seemed like a fourth marriage was in store for him. But it's shown that Cruise has a thing for his co-stars, so this may end up being a better fit. Only time will tell.

Tom Cruise has had a high-profile love life ever since launching his acting career in the '80s. Here's a complete breakdown of the 'Mission: Impossible' star's romantic history.

Tom Cruise ‘s love life has been closely followed for decades, ever since making his breakthrough in the 1983 classic  Risky Business . His romantic history consists of three famous marriages (all of which ended, coincidentally, when his wives were 33 years old) and a string of other high-profile romances. But between 2012-2020, Tom seemingly pumped the brakes on public romances.

However, there was renewed interest in the love life of one of Hollywood’s most famous bachelors after a new report surfaced in December 2020. It claimed that Tom was dating his co-star   Hayley Atwell  from Mission: Impossible 7 . In June 2022, another report came out that the pair broke up . In 2023, Tom reportedly moved on with model Elsina Khayrova . We have more information on that below — including Tom’s many other romances since the ’80s.

Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Gilbert , 59, who played Laura Ingalls on the NBC series Little House on the Prairie , claimed that she dated Tom in the early 1980’s. This was at the very beginning of his career! “Actually, when I dated him he was Tom Mapother still. It was when he first moved to Los Angeles and I think I was 16, maybe, or 17?,” Melissa said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen   in 2017.

“I did not have sex with him,” Laura added. “We made out, but, honestly, there was no sex. He was a good kisser. But, you know, he was, like, a struggling, starving actor. I actually bought him his first set of dishes.” Melissa even reminisced on her friendship/past relationship with her fellow “Brat Pack” pal, Tom, in a throwback Instagram post shared in Oct. 2019.

Heather Locklear

Heather Locklear , 61, was never Tom’s girlfriend, but she did go on one (sort of) date with him. It didn’t go well, according to her recollection. The Melrose Place  star explained in a 2013 interview on Chelsea Lately  that they had both “auditioned for something” together, back when Tom “didn’t have friends” in Hollywood in the early ’80s. So, they went dancing.

“You know in ‘Risky Business’ where he does that dance in his underwear and does the splits? We were dancing at a club and he went into that. He starting doing the splits,” Heather said. “You just kind of stand there and don’t know what to do. Do you dance around him? So, I was like, ‘I’ll just sit down and you can.'”

“And that was the only date you had?,” Chelsea Handler then asked Heather, to which the actress said, “I think so.” Tom and Heather are pictured above together in 1981.

Rebecca De Mornay

Rebecca de Mornay and Tom played lovers in Tom’s breakthrough film, Risky Business , which came out in 1983. Their on-screen chemistry turned out to be real! Although Rebecca joked that Tom was “extremely annoying” at first, she admitted, “He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film” in a 2018 interview with Celebrity Page .

Tom Cruise famously made Cher ‘s “Top 5” lovers list, which she revealed on  Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen  in 2013. “I had just the greatest lovers ever. Not a long list. It’s just a good list,” the 77-year-old singer had said.

Cher explained how she and Tom connected in a separate interview. “A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic. We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there,” Cher told the  Mail on Sunday   in 2018. She added, “Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Mimi Rogers

It was during this relationship that Tom infamously joined the Church of Scientology, which he is a prominent figure in to this day. When Tom met actress Mimi Rogers , 67, she had been a few years divorced from Scientologist Jim Rogers . “I met her at a dinner party about a year ago, when I was developing Top Gun. She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright,” Tom recalled in a 1986 interview with Rolling Stone .

However, Mimi had a conflicting story. “I wasn’t seeing anybody, he wasn’t seeing anybody, and they thought, ‘These people should be going out with somebody — let’s see if they want to go out with each other.’ And we said, ‘Aw, what the heck. OK’,” Mimi told the Sun Sentinel  in 1987.

Tom sounded smitten in another Rolling Stone interview, which was published mere days before his split from Mimi was announced in 1990. “I’d never been in love before. Since I’ve been with her, it’s opened me up a lot. I think it’s helped me be a better actor. We live a lot of life together. We share everything,” he gushed, later adding, “I care about my wife more than anything in the world. She’s my best friend. I just really like being with her, you know? I love her.” The divorce was finalized in February 1990, three years after they got married.

Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise moved on to his next marriage, which was with Moulin Rouge!  star Nicole Kidman , 55. They met on the set of their movie Days of Thunder , in which they played lovers, in 1990. By the end of the year, they were husband and wife. Tom and Nicole adopted two children amid their 11-year marriage : Isabella in 1992, and Connor in 1994.

During the marriage, Tom and Nicole also filmed another movie together, Eyes Wide Shut , in 1999. Nicole even looked back at their time filming together in a rare interview in Oct. 2020, telling the  New York Times , “We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to.”

Nicole famously never joined Tom’s Church of Scientology, which even their children went on to be active members in. Tom and Nicole’s split was announced in Feb. 2001, and Tom filed for divorce two days later. To this day, the exes have minimal interactions with one another. “Tom has had little to no contact with Nicole in the 18 years since being married and that is fine by him,” a source close to Tom EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife . “He really does not miss her much at all.”

Penélope Cruz

Tom took a break from the married life and started dating Penélope Cruz , 49, whom he met on the set of the movie Vanilla Sky  in 2000. They enjoyed a three-year relationship, which the former couple’s reps confirmed ended in 2004. “They remain good friends and still talk often. There is no other person involved,” Penelope’s spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.

Katie Holmes

Enter Katie Holmes , who to date remains one of Tom’s most famous exes. Ironically, Katie , 44, she once told Seventeen Magazine   in 2004 that she “used to think that [she] was going to marry Tom Cruise,” which didn’t turn out to just be wishful thinking. The two came together the very next year.

Katie and Tom’s first public appearance as lovers happened in April of 2005. Tom was with the Dawson’s Creek star in Rome, where he was visiting to collect his David di Donatello Award for lifetime achievement. The very next month, Tom was jumping on Oprah Winfrey ‘s couch and proclaiming that he’s “in love” (to which Oprah said, “The boy is gone”).

The relationship quickly advanced. When Katie stepped onto the  Batman Begins  premiere in June of 2005, the actress revealed that she’s converting to Scientology (Tom’s religion) and her engagement to Tom was announced that very same month. By October, the couple was expecting, and in April of 2006 they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Suri .

Katie and Tom tied the knot in Italy in Nov. 2006, and all seemed happy until June of 2012, when Katie filed for divorce. A settlement for custody of Suri was decided on a month later. A year afterwards, Tom admitted that he “didn’t expect” that divorce in an interview with German television network ProSieben.

Katie reflected on the time after the divorce in an April 2020 interview with   InStyle . “That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. We had some funny moments out and about in public. So many people I didn’t know became my friends and helped us out, and that’s what I love about the city,” she said.

Hayley Atwell

Tom reportedly started dating Hayley Atwell  — whom you may have seen playing Peggy Carter in the Captain America  movies — in 2020, according to a report from The Sun that surfaced in Dec. of that year. Hayley and Tom filmed Mission 7: Impossible  together amid the pandemic.

“Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one,” a source told The Sun , who added, “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” Tom and Hayley did not confirm this report, but he hasn’t confirmed any romances since his marriage to Katie, and on June 12, 2022, it was reported he and Hayley had split . It was the second reported split since back in Sept. 2021, they reportedly also called it quits but reconciled a short time later.

“Tom and Hayley’s relationship was genuine,” a source told The Sun . “In spite of some rumours to the contrary, it was never just for the cameras. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out for them. They get on really well, and have fantastic chemistry, which is why they decided to quietly give the relationship another try earlier this year.”

In mid-2023, multiple outlets reported that Tom had quietly started dating the model and socialite.

“They’re very happy,” a source told Us Weekly in December 2023. “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term. Tom is going into 2024 totally energized, excited and feeling healthier and happier than he has in years. This is a very special time for him, and having a serious relationship in his life that he can build on is the icing on the cake.”

“They were inseparable — clearly a couple,” a guest at the event told the Daily Mail .  “He seemed to be besotted with her.”

The 36-year-old is 25 years younger than the Hollywood actor , and her father is Russian MP Rinat Khayrova, who is a political ally of Vladimir Putin. So there's that! 

This is Cruise's first public relationship since his divorce from his third wife, Katie Holmes , in 2012.

Speaking of exes, we need to talk about Elsina's Russian mogul ex-husband and diamond tycoon, Dmitry Tsvetkov, who the model divorced in 2020. 

The Russian oligarch gave an interview with the Daily Mail to warn Cruise about his ex-wife. 

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious tastes,” Tsetkov said.

“Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open.”

Dmitry said he hasn't spoken to his ex-wife about her new rumoured romance, as their “preferred method of communication” was through their attorney. 

But it wasn't all negative, Tsetkov added that he is “happy for her”, but also mentioned she was “never been a big Tom Cruise fan, but I’m sure that’s all changed now.”

This man is so messy. 

The tycoon also claims the three-year divorce cost him nearly $298 million and led to him selling off his assets to pay her. 

The couple split after over a decade of marriage and welcoming two children together.

Despite Dimtry's warnings, it's not like dating Cruise is a walk in the park either. 

Cruise has long been a prominent member of the divisive Church of Scientology. The actor has been embroiled in various controversies over the years about the church's controversial methods and mantras, including the time he scolded Brooke Shields for taking antidepressants to treat postpartum depression. 

The kids he adopted with his second wife, Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Connor Cruise, have also seemingly turned their backs on their mother since joining the church. 

Prior to the Elsina reports, the Jerry Maguire star was rumoured to be dating his  Mission Impossible co-star, Hayley Atwell.

The actress has since slammed the rumours as “weird", “upsetting” and “invasive”, telling The Independent that “It’s not what I’m about," she said. 

"Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”

After Tom Cruise and the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer were photographed hanging out together at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami over the weekend, a source exclusively tells Page Six: “He is extremely interested in pursuing her.”

“There is chemistry,” says the source.

Cruise, 60, is single and Shakira, 46, split from her longtime boyfriend Gerard Piqué, 36, last June amid allegations he  was having an affair  with his now-girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

“Shakira needs a soft pillow to fall on, and that could be Tom,” says our source — adding that Cruise has the benefit of being, “a nice-looking guy, and he is talented.”

The source also cracked, “And she isn’t taller than him.”

Cruise is 5-foot-7 while the pop star is 5-foot-2. 

A source tells us that Cruise was so taken by the pop diva that he allegedly sent her flowers. 

On Sunday, the “Top Gun: Maverick” star and the Colombian chanteuse spent time together on the race’s starting grid and were seen chatting in a private hospitality suite.

Shakira and Piqué were together for 12 years and they share two children, Sasha, 8, and Milan, 10.

“It’s been tough not only for me, but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult,” she told Elle last September. And she added, “I can only say that I put everything I had into this relationship and my family.”

Shakira now lives in Miami.
