The wimbledon foundation is the charity of the all england lawn tennis club and the championships and distributes more than £4million annually to charitable activities locally, nationally and internationally..

The Wimbledon Foundation, the official charity of The All England Lawn Tennis Club and The Championships celebrated its 10th anniversary with a reception at the All England Club on Thursday 28 March.

Representatives from more than 80 charities supported by the Foundation were in attendance and joined by the Mayors of Merton and Wandsworth. The event saw the unveiling of a ‘10’ sculpture made up of various items that represent the work of the Foundation over the past decade and iconic Wimbledon items such as tennis rackets, tennis balls and strawberries. The event also featured a film, timeline display and cake to celebrate the milestone.

Since 2013, the Foundation has invested more than £20million on charitable activities locally, nationally and internationally. Through its work, the Foundation has reached nine million people and supported nearly 400 organisations, with 977 grants and donations awarded and 142,000 items donated to charities.

In the financial year 2022/23 alone, the Foundation invested £2.2million in Merton and Wandsworth. In response to the cost-of-living crisis, the Foundation awarded grants to projects tackling food poverty; to charity partners working with those most severely impacted by rising living costs including people with disabilities and long-term health conditions, people from minority communities, older people and low income families; and to guarantee organisations running priority services such as hardship support andadvice services.

Over the next 10 years, the Foundation plans to strengthen and support diverse communities through its work, as well as using the power of sport to continue to inspire young people. It also aims to build healthy communities and respond in times of need, building on the achievements of the past decade.

Paige Murphy, Head of the Wimbledon Foundation, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Wimbledon Foundation with a special reception to recognise the work of all our incredible charity partners. We are proud to have awarded £20million over the last 10 years and as we embark on our next decade, we look forward to doing all we can as a Foundation to support those in need and champion opportunity for all.”

The Wimbledon tour and museum is a very informal and interesting tour. It's a must have for tennis fans, because you can visit the famous courts and there's loads of tennis history, especially in the museum. But even for someone who doesn't watch tennis often, it's a nice experience. The museum is good, because it's very interactive.
