Mexico is a fantastic vacation destination offering gorgeous beaches , sprawling resorts, fantastic water activities, and so much more. Plus, it’s close to the U.S., so it’s easy to get to from most of the country. It’s also a destination that’s ripe with amazing package deals.

These deals, which consist of a flight and a hotel stay, can often save a lot of money over booking those elements separately — we’ve found that a package often costs less than booking just the hotel separately (scroll down to our price comparison section to see the numbers)!

In this post, we’ll go over 10 of the best websites that you can use to find Mexico vacation packages and deals. We’ve done the research, so you should be able to quickly find a great vacation package that fits your budget.

Costco Travel is a great place to search for Mexico vacation package deals. Yes, you’ll need a Costco membership to book, but it can be worth it for the savings and bonuses you could get.

Take this example we found for a stay at JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa. In addition to a $99 Costco shop card, this deal comes with a $50 spa credit, a $50 food and beverage credit, and free dining for kids 11 and under. Those extra benefits far outweigh the cost of a basic $60 Costco membership .

Costco Travel deals

Even better, with the $120 per year Executive membership, you’ll earn 2% back (up to $1,000) on your Costco purchases, including Costco Travel purchases. You could earn enough bonuses from just 1 trip to pay for either level of Costco membership and then some.

Bottom Line: What’s great is that while you’ll need a Costco membership to purchase a travel package, you can search Costco Travel without a membership . That means you can do price comparisons to see if you’re saving money before having to pay for a membership. For more information on how it all works, check out our guide to using Costco Travel .

Travelocity is a popular online travel agency. As with many sites, it’s powered by Expedia, so the search functions may look quite familiar. While it may look the same, the prices can be different than what you’d find on Expedia.

You may see a note on some of your search results saying you’ll save 100% on a flight when booking this package. Generally, we’re skeptical of these claims, so we did some math to see if this was an accurate claim.

Travelocity package deal

Much to our surprise, it was more than accurate! While this package deal for 2 people costs $3,105.07, the hotel cost more than the package at $3,422.37 when booked separately! The flights were $978.40 in total. If you booked the hotel and flights separately, you’d pay $4,400.77 — that’s $1,295.70 more than the package deal. Wow!

Be sure to scroll down to the bottom to see how this package price stacks up to the prices on other websites. For more information, check out our guide to booking travel and saving money with Travelocity .

Bottom Line: Regardless of what type of Mexico package you choose, always be sure to pay with a credit card that will help you earn points and perks on your vacation .

Southwest Airlines flies to 4 popular destinations in Mexico — Cancún, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos.

If you want to fly Southwest, you’ll have to search for a flight and hotel separately or book through Southwest Vacations because Southwest flights don’t show up on any third-party websites .

The good news is that when you book through Southwest Vacations, you’ll earn Southwest points for your purchase ! Unfortunately, you can’t use Rapid Rewards points to book your vacation, but this can still be a great option for Southwest fans.

Southwest Vacations Mexico package

You can do a traditional search or, if you’ve got some flexibility, you can search the best deals available. Just click on Deals > Mexico & Caribbean deals on the homepage.

While you’ll find great prices there, many of these packages are only offered on specific dates, so you may need to tweak your travel plans to take advantage of these offers.

Bottom Line: You’ll earn Rapid Rewards points on any package booked through Southwest Vacations, however, you can’t book a Southwest Vacations package with points. Get all the details in our guide to booking Southwest Vacations .

Mexican vacations are one of the specialties of Funjet Vacations , so it’s a great website to explore. What’s nice is that it’s easy to search for deals in lots of different Mexico locations with just 1 click.

Mexico vacation search at Funjet Vacations

Funjet Vacations offers a lot of all-inclusive resorts, so you may see those at the top of your search results — just scroll down a bit if you’d prefer a traditional hotel.

During the checkout process, you’ll be able to add extras such as trip protection, airport transfers, a rental car, and even sightseeing tours and excursions.

Hot Tip: If you decide you’d rather use points and miles for your Mexico vacation, check out our guides on how to fly to Mexico with points and miles and the best Mexico hotels to book with points .

Yes, there are plenty of spots in Mexico that aren’t part of the Caribbean, but CheapCaribbean.com is still a great website to use.

If you’re not quite sure where in Mexico you’d like to go, just select Mexico from the Destinations tab on the home page to see a list of deals all over the country . You can then scroll through everything that’s available or use the filtering options to narrow your results.

Mexico Vacation packages on CheapCaribbean.com

Hot Tip: If you need some travel inspiration, check out these popular all-inclusive resorts in Mexico .

Expedia is a popular site for booking travel for a reason — it’s easy to use and often has great deals. You can customize your vacation package to include flights, hotel, and/or a rental car.

You’ll see many options to filter your search results, including by properties that offer free cancellation. Plus, Expedia has a great map feature if you’d like to find a hotel in a specific location.

Expedia search and filter options

Expedia even has its own rewards program called One Key . With this program, you’ll be able to earn and use points on eligible trips and gain access to special member pricing. This is a nice way to earn rewards when you’re not participating in a hotel chain’s loyalty program.

Orbitz is a tried-and-true online travel agency that’s easy to use and often has great deals. One of the nice things about using Orbitz is that it has its own rewards program, which comes in handy if you tend to book hotels through a third-party website. You’ll earn Orbucks on all of your purchases, which can then be applied to hotels booked through the site.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos on Orbitz

Keep in mind, though, if you book a hotel that has its own loyalty program (such as Hilton, Marriott, or Hyatt) you won’t earn points or elite night credits when you don’t book direct. Plus, any status you already have may not be recognized. If you aren’t chasing elite status or worried about collecting hotel points, that might not be an issue, but it’s something to keep in mind.

For more information, including how the Orbitz Rewards program works, check out our guide to booking travel with Orbitz .

Hot Tip: If you book a hotel that has its own loyalty program such as Hilton, Hyatt, or IHG, you won’t earn hotel loyalty points or earn elite credit for your booking with a third party. Plus, any status you already have may not be recognized.

Apple Vacations is another website that has lots of deals on Mexico vacation packages. If you’ve got some flexibility, you can scroll through the list of deals by clicking on Destinations > Mexico on the homepage. However, you’ll notice that those deals all have specific travel dates that they are valid for.

If you have set travel dates, you can use the regular search feature on the homepage.

Mexico vacation package deals at Apple Vacations

Hot Tip: When you book a hotel through a third-party website, you may have to pay additional fees, like resort fees, at the hotel. Be sure to read all of your package information carefully, because it’s not always obvious that there may be additional charges.

Kayak is a metasearch engine that searches all of the other sites so you can quickly get a sense of where to find the best deal. It’s a very useful tool to search for flights and hotels, but it’s also a great way to find vacation packages.

Just select Packages on the home page and then you can enter a specific resort or search by city or country.

Mexico Vacation Packages on Kayak

Once you get your search results, you’ll be able to see which website is offering each deal. Then you’ll be transferred to that website to finish your booking.

Whenever you decide to book a flight, hotel, or vacation package through Kayak, always check the price on the mobile app. Often you’ll find mobile-only deals and Kayak’s new loyalty program, KAYAK Explorer is only available through the app.

Hot Tip: For more information, refer to our complete guide to using Kayak to book travel .

United Vacations is a great place to search for Mexico vacation packages, especially if you’re a fan of United or live near a United hub. While the downside of this site is that you’re limited to United flights, that can be a positive for some.

Like many other sites, you can add extras such as trip protection and even sightseeing excursions during the check-out process. The unique thing about booking through United Vacations is that when you provide your MileagePlus number at booking, you’ll earn United miles on your vacation package.

Plus, United Vacations has deals on hotels and resorts in 25 different locations in Mexico. If you’re not sure exactly where you want to go, start at the dedicated Mexico vacations page for some ideas and to search for featured deals.

United Vacation deals in Mexico

Bottom Line: You’ll earn United MileagePlus miles when you book a vacation package through United Vacations, but you can’t redeem miles for any part of your trip.

Now that we’ve gone over some of the best websites to use, let’s take a look at the numbers. We priced out 2 different vacation packages on each website to see which one offered the best deal. Here’s what we found.

Package #1: 7-night stay for 2 people at JW Marriott Los Cabos plus roundtrip flights between Chicago (ORD) and Los Cabos (SJD)

Package #2: 7-night stay for 2 people at Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa by AMR Collection All-Inclusive plus roundtrip flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Cancún (CUN)

As is the case in most of these price comparisons, the results vary quite a bit. As you can see, there is no single website that always has the best deal. Funjet Vacations had the cheapest price on the Los Cabos package , but one of the highest prices on the Cancún package. Kayak had the lowest price on the Cancún package  but was in the middle of the pack for the Los Cabos package.

However, when you compare these prices to the price of booking the hotel and flight separately, all of these packages saved money . In the first package example, if you were to book the JW Marriott Los Cabos directly it would cost $3,324.59! That’s more than any of the package deals and doesn’t even include a flight!

The cost of the hotel in package #2 if booked separately was $3,415, which is close to what you’d pay for a package, just without the flights.

The lesson here is twofold. First, you’ll most likely save money by booking a package deal . Second, there’s no one website that will always have the best price, so you’ll need to check out a few options before you book.

Mexico is a perfect destination for a beach vacation and there are lots of websites offering great package deals to the country’s most popular spots, including Cancún , Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta.

While you can often save money by booking a package deal versus a flight and hotel separately, there’s not a single website that always has the best prices. When you’re ready to book, price out your trip on a few different sites to see where you can get the best deal. If you start with some of the websites we discussed, here you’re sure to find a great vacation package that will save you money.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do i get the best deal on a mexican vacation.

To get the best deal on a Mexican vacation, try looking at package deals that include a hotel stay and flights. Booking a package often saves a ton of money — sometimes it’s even less than booking just the hotel. You can also use online travel agencies or metasearch engines such as Expedia, Funjet Vacations, or Kayak to price out the best package deals.

How much does a vacation in Mexico cost?

The cost of your Mexico vacation will depend greatly on what type of hotel or resort you book. You can find everything from budget accommodations to luxury resorts that will suit just about any budget. Use a metasearch engine such as Kayak to price out a couple of different options to get a sense of what you can expect to pay.

Is a vacation package cheaper?

While a vacation package isn’t always cheaper, our research has revealed that more often than not, it’s cheaper to book a package deal including a flight and hotel stay. Be sure to price out your trip on a few different websites before booking to make sure you’re getting a deal that works for you.

Puerto Vallarta

Combine mexico with..., about mexico, mexico faq's.

There are so many things Mexico is known for. Tourists come to Mexico for varied experiences, from beach getaways to cities and towns chock-full of history . Those who come to Mexico to enjoy the beaches love to partake in water sports such as diving, snorkeling, surfing, yachting , and parasailing , and a growing number of visitors also enjoy outdoor recreational eco-tours , many of which combine pyramids and temples built by the Mayans . Spanish colonial influence is evident in many of Mexico`s cities and towns, and colonial buildings are just a stone`s throw by the temples and sacred grounds built by both the Mayans and the Aztecs . No matter where you go in Mexico, it is a great place for shopping at every price point, from Liverpool luxury department store to small, locally-owned souvenir shops . Visitors to Mexico also take the time to sample many Mexican dishes (the more the better!), complete with shots of delicious tequila and mezcal .

Tourists typically visit Mexico a region at a time and explore from there, so the best places to recommend depend on which part of the country you want to visit. If you are arriving in Mexico City , spend a few days exploring this beautiful capital city and then head south to Oaxaca or northwest to Guanajuato and charming San Miguel de Allende . If you want to visit the Riviera Maya , fly into colonial gem Mérida or the nightlife mecca of Cancún and explore further to such sights as Chichén Itza, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel Island , and Tulum . Those who head west from Mexico City should take time to visit Guadalajara , Puerto Vallarta , and Mazatlán . Visitors to Baja California love to see such tourist spots as Los Cabos , Tijuana , and Ensenada . If you`re combining Tikal in Guatemala with your stay in Mexico, stop by the quaint town of San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas state.

We recommend seeing Mexico during the dry season , which corresponds to the period of time between December and April . Pacific and Atlantic hurricane seasons occur between June and November, which is the rainy season for much of the country. Prices will be lower but humidity and rain chances will be at their highest. The dry season is also the high season, so if you are looking for a better deal, you might want to consider summer and autumn.

We recommend approximately 7-10 days based on what you want to see and do. We offer flexible vacation packages so you can select your number of nights in each city, desired hotel and activities. We suggest a minimum of 3 nights in Mexico City, along the Pacific Coast, and on the Riviera Maya.

We recommend seeing Mexico by air and by private transfer . While it is possible to rent a car and drive in many parts of Mexico, it may come as a culture shock for Americans, as driving over the speed limit is the norm and this may frazzle people whether they are on highways or in big cities. Mexico`s road system is not developed to the same extent seen in the United States, making cross-country road trips more difficult in terms of not just amenities along motorways but also in terms of safety (many stretches of highway are not illuminated at night). Let trusted drivers pick you up from your hotel or the airport in late-model, air-conditioned luxury instead, taking the guesswork out of getting from Point A to Point B. Note: You will notice police checkpoints set up along motorways leading up to major towns and cities; don`t be alarmed, the police are checking for trafficking of illicit drugs, and most times travelers who present themselves as if they are tourists are immediately waved through the checkpoints without any further inquiry.

The currency of Mexico is the Mexican peso (written in shorthand as $, MXN$ or MXP). U.S. dollars are not legal tender and are not accepted in most shops, but many tourist-geared shops and resorts accept payment in U.S. dollars, usually on a more disadvantageous exchange rate than the current rate at banks. We recommend paying and tipping in Mexican pesos as much as possible in order to make your funds on vacation stretch for a longer period of time. Be prepared to arrive with the correct currency on hand or make sure to retrieve pesos on arrival, which you can do at a number of ATMs in the airport and across the country. (The ATMs with the best exchange rates are typically ones operated by Banco Santander (red) and Citigroup/Banamex (gray).) There are currency exchange desks at many locations throughout the country as well, some offering competitive exchange rates in relation to ATMs.

Spanish is the official language of Mexico. English speakers will be found in most places there are a lot of tourists, such Mexico City and other major cities, historic sites, resorts, and major shopping districts popular with tourists. English is also popular with younger Mexicans who routinely consume media from the U.S. and U.K., many times with English audio and Spanish subtitles. It may be more difficult to find people who speak English in smaller towns or in shops away from tourist zones, but most Mexicans are accommodating and will work with tourists who are positive and pleasant in their interactions with them. Be prepared to learn basic Spanish phrases like hello/goodbye, please/thank you, how much is it?, where is the bathroom, and the numbers from 1-10 and 50, 100, and 1,000. To say `Do you speak English?`, say ` ¿Habla inglés? `

Ready for an unforgettable Mexico vacation? Delight in the diverse activities awaiting you in a land where pristine beaches meet rich culture.

In Puerto Vallarta, stroll along the beautiful beaches, dipping your toes into the turquoise waters. By opting for an all-inclusive resort, every convenience - from sun loungers to poolside bars - is at your fingertips.

Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya offer vacation packages that include experiences at white sand beaches and the chance to dive into the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.

History enthusiasts will relish visiting the Mayan ruins. These ancient ruins, showcasing the Mayan culture, are scattered across Mexico with some of the most compelling sites near Mexico City and within the Riviera Maya.

For a more urban adventure, explore the bustling streets of Mexico City, absorbing the fusion of modernity and tradition, and savoring authentic Mexican cuisine.

Consider these top picks: •    Lounge on the sandy beaches •    Dive into cultural explorations at archaeological sites •    Indulge in luxury at a full-service spa

Whether you desire a beach getaway or an exploration of archaeological wonders, Mexico provides an array of experiences surrounded by natural beauty. From adventure to relaxation, find your perfect fit in a Mexico vacation.

Mexico is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit largely depends on the region and activities you're planning. Generally, the peak tourist season is between December and April, when the weather is ideal with less rain and milder temperatures. Coastal areas like Puerto Vallarta, Playa del Carmen, and the Riviera Maya boast beautiful beaches with white sands and turquoise waters, perfect for a beach getaway. This is when all-inclusive resorts and luxury hotels are in high demand, offering outdoor pools, sun loungers, and full-service spas.

If cultural exploration is on the agenda, such as visiting the ancient Mayan ruins or experiencing the rich culture of Mexico City, these months also provide comfortable conditions for outdoor activities. Avoid the rainy season from May to October, especially if you are planning to visit archaeological sites or enjoy the natural surroundings. However, for budget-conscious travelers, this off-peak season offers the advantage of lower prices on vacation packages, accommodation, and activities.

In summary: Peak Season: December to April Ideal for beach vacations and cultural tours Less rain, milder temperatures

Off-Peak Season: May to October Budget-friendly travel options Higher chances of rain

Keep in mind that while Mexico's peak season promises the quintessential sunny vacation, off-peak travel can be a unique experience with fewer crowds and a more authentic feel of local life.

Tulum stands as the gem of the Riviera Maya, where ancient Mayan ruins meet pristine beaches. Unlike the bustling streets of Mexico City or the renowned resorts in Cancun, Tulum offers a blend of rich culture and serene beauty. Visitors can explore archaeological sites like the Tulum ruins, perched majestically above turquoise waters.

The beach getaway in Tulum is redefined with its white sand beaches embracing the clear blue waters. A vacation package to this region might often include stays in boutique hotels or even luxurious all-inclusive resorts, seamlessly incorporating the area's natural surroundings. Many properties boast full-service spas, sun loungers, and outdoor pools, allowing guests to indulge in relaxation while soaking up the Mexican sun.

For those captivated by Mayan culture, Tulum provides an immersive experience. From the majestic pyramids to intricate frescoes, the town is a treasure trove of ancient history.

Panoramic View of Sunset at the Hotel District, Cancun Mexico

The flight sales to Mexico keep coming.

This latest deal offers great prices, as low as $222, on nonstop flights to various destinations — perfect for travelers looking to sink their toes into Mexico's pristine beaches and enjoy some quality downtime. The discounts apply for flights to some of the most popular cities south of the border, including Cancun, Guadalajara and San Jose del Cabo.

There is a nice variety of departure cities in this sale, too, including Austin, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami and Boston. We also found a number of nonstop flights in our search.

The bulk of the sale fares are for travel between March and July. If you live in Boston and Philadelphia, you will also find some nice prices for itineraries in the fall and winter.

Related: The 14 best all-inclusive resorts in Cancun

This deal, like most others, involves economy-class fares. Basic economy tickets on American Airlines and Delta Air Lines come with a free carry-on bag. JetBlue's Blue Basic fares don't provide a free carry-on bag, nor do United Airlines' basic economy fares.

Checking a bag will cost you around $70 each way.

Sample flights

Let's start with the Cancun deals.

We found great prices out of Miami in April. American has lots of nonstop itineraries out of Miami International Airport (MIA) to Cancun International Airport (CUN) for just $222 round trip. Not only is this a really good price, but since American's basic economy fare comes with a free carry-on, you also could avoid checked luggage fees if you pack lightly.

trip a deal mexico

We found good availability out of Miami in May on American for just $260 round trip. According to Google Flights, that's a savings of more than 50% from typical prices.

trip a deal mexico

JetBlue has round-trip fares from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to CUN in March for $260 — a significant markdown from what this route usually sells for. Note, though, that it's a Blue Basic fare, so you'll pay extra to check a bag.

trip a deal mexico

If you live in Boston, June seems to be the best month to score the best prices in this sale. We found a few itineraries like this Delta option in June out of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to CUN for $288 round trip. This fare comes with a free carry-on, and it's a nonstop flight.

trip a deal mexico

We came across some nice deals out of Chicago, too, like these nonstop routes in May on Aeromexico from O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) for $268 round trip. This fare comes with a free carry-on.

trip a deal mexico

May was far and away the month with the best availability out of the Windy City.

trip a deal mexico

If you live in Houston and want to save money on a quick summer vacation, start planning your visit to Monterrey. There are a number of nonstop flights from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Monterrey International Airport (MTY) in June that will cost you as little as $232 round trip.

This is a United basic economy ticket, so there is no free carry-on. According to Google Flights, this ticket price is less than half of what you'd normally pay in the summer. Monterrey may not be a beach destination like Cancun, but it's rich in history and culture and has a wonderful food scene.

trip a deal mexico

You can also save big on flights from Austin to San Jose del Cabo in May.

We found great options in that month for flights departing out of the Texas capital, including this nonstop from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) for only $274 round trip. That's a fantastic price for this route at this time of year.

Maximize your purchase

When you book this deal or any travel, be sure to use a credit card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases, such as:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card : 2 points per dollar spent on travel
  • American Express® Gold Card : 3 points per dollar spent on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through amextravel.com
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express : 5 points per dollar spent on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel (on up to $500,000 of these purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar)
  • Citi Premier® Card ( see rates and fees ): 3 points per dollar spent on airfare
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve® : 3 points per dollar spent on travel

Bottom line

If you're eager to head south across the border in 2024, now is the time to browse flights and potentially score a deal.

As we always remind you, having a flexible travel schedule will help you get the best possible fare price, so consider multiple dates and departure cities to maximize your savings.

MEXICO TOURS & ACTIVITIES

How Much Does a Luxury Trip to Mexico Cost?

Luxury travel in Mexico can cost a great deal , but it’s important to keep in mind that the price of activities is not cheap. A burrito in the Yucatan will set you back $6, while an elaborate meal can cost up to $18. Prices are similar to those in the United States , but if you’d like to enjoy more activities, you’ll need a larger budget.

A typical luxury vacation in Mexico costs about $2,800 USD for an individual traveler , $2,000 for a couple, and $3,800 for a family of four. It’s best to take into account any additional costs such as activities and meals. If you are traveling with a large group, you may be able to get a discount. Also, consider the duration of your trip.

Some activities are free, but some require money. Entry fees to museums and art galleries are MX$300-$1000 per person. Organized day tours cost about MX$2,100 per person. If you’re looking for a more private experience, you can hire a private charter. A&K Mexico guarantees top-notch service and accommodations, and you can get the best deals when you book well in advance.

You can enjoy a number of activities for less than a dollar. The most famous attractions are the Chichen Itza New Seven Wonders, which are located on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The National Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site with spectacular Diego Rivera murals. The Soumaya Museum is a free museum, but it is worth paying for tickets and visiting the Soumaya.

The prices of the most luxurious tours are often in the mid-range price range. Private car service costs around MX$300 per day, but most companies will include it in the price of their tours. However, private charters and luxury trips are the only things you should consider before booking your Mexico holiday . The quality of the accommodations and services provided by A&K are among the best in the world, and they will ensure your satisfaction.

The average price for luxury trips in Mexico depends on the services that you want to enjoy. Some destinations will require you to pay a fee to enter them, but the rest will be free. If you’re on a budget, however, you can save up for a hotel by taking a taxi to the airport. A luxurious hotel in Mexico City is worth a small price tag when you’re in a city that has a rich history and beautiful colonial architecture.

A 7-day luxury trip in Mexico costs approximately $997 per person and can cost up to $1,571 for a couple or $2,050 for a family. The average cost for a hotel in Mexico ranges from $35 to $201 per night. Depending on your needs, you can choose a budget-friendly option or one that offers more luxury. You may also be interested in dining in restaurants off the beaten path, but don’t worry; you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it can be.

Is Mexico Expensive to Visit?

While a hotel in a resort area can cost as much as in the US, less well-known beach destinations, like Tulum, are much cheaper. You can expect to spend as little as $25 per day if you take public transportation and eat at local food stands. On the coast, seafood is the most popular dish. While Mexico is an expensive country to visit , it is possible to save a lot of money by going off the beaten path.

The cost of transportation and accommodations in Mexico can vary, but in general, the country is very affordable for tourists. While there are some expensive restaurants and hotels, most of them are priced within your budget. There are also reasonable prices for transport. However, the cost of travel in Mexico depends on the area and the activities you plan to do. You can expect to pay a lot less than in many countries. Make sure you plan your trip accordingly and budget for it.

In addition to accommodation and transportation, you’ll need to buy a cell phone to get around the country. The four main providers are AT&T, Movistar, and Iusacell. Telcel is the most expensive, but you’ll enjoy the best coverage. If you need a cell phone, the most popular ones are Verizon, AT&T, and Movistar. You can also use a data card for the internet.

If you want to travel on a budget, you may want to stay in a hotel with a decent reputation and splurge on occasional meals. Similarly, you can try catching a Colectivo or a bus to reduce your travel costs. The average daily cost of traveling in Mexico is M$1,733 ($85) per day, while luxury travelers can spend as much as $1,200 per day.

The cost of a hotel and airfare is the main factor in deciding whether Mexico is a good option for your budget. You should plan ahead and check the price of your flight before you leave. If you’re traveling on a tight budget, you’ll need to keep your expenses to a minimum. Most hotels in Mexico are very affordable, but there are still some hotels with higher prices. For the average tourist, however, the cost of a luxury hotel is MX$800 per day.

If you’re on a budget, you can expect to pay about $300 per day. You can stay in budget hotels or nice Airbnb rentals for up to 50 pesos a day. This will allow you to enjoy street food during the day and have nicer meals at night. There are also many cheap, inexpensive options for a luxury trip to Mexico City. If you’re on a tight budget, you’ll be happy with a trip that costs MX$2,000.

How Many Days Are Enough in Mexico?

If you’re planning on seeing several destinations in Mexico, a few days is probably the perfect amount of time. A three-day trip to Mexico City is sufficient to see all of the main sights. If you’d like to explore the region more, an extra day can be used for day trips and in-depth museum visits. However, if you’re visiting Mexico for the first time, a few weeks is the perfect amount.

If you’re a history buff, a few days would be enough to visit the National Museum and several museums. If you’d like to see as much of Mexico as possible, two weeks would be the perfect length of time to experience it all. A two-week trip would allow you to visit several locales and crisscross the country . You can fly into Mexico City and then drive to other regions to get a full picture of this beautiful country.

While you’ll probably want to spend more than three days in Mexico City, you can’t fit everything in. While one week is not enough to see everything, a three-day stay would be just right. If you’re traveling on a budget, a four-day trip would be perfect. Then, you’ll be able to explore more of the country without feeling overwhelmed. Then, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect while you’re in Mexico.

Although Mexico City is huge, you can get around in three days with the itinerary we’ve outlined below. If you’re a history buff, this itinerary is perfect for you. For foodies, you’ll want to spend another day in the country’s capital. A two-week road trip to the Yucatan is also a fantastic idea. If you have a little time to spare, you can explore the countryside in the northern part of the country on your next visit.

If you’re planning a vacation, it is important to consider your itinerary and the time frame for your trip. If you’re planning to visit several locations, you’ll want to take at least a week or two for your trip. This will allow you to experience as much as you can. A few days are a good amount of time to see everything. But if you’re planning to visit multiple destinations, you’ll want to include several days for exploring.

After arriving in Mexico, you should visit the major cities to see the highlights. The most popular cities include Coyoacan, a historic neighborhood where the Spanish conquered the Aztec Empire. While Mexico City is home to a variety of cultures and landscapes, it’s best to spend a week exploring the Caribbean coast. It is a popular destination for tourists, and you’ll find that it is a wonderful place to live for a few months.

  • There are loads of types of vacations in Cancún and the cost will depend on what type of trip you’re taking and for how long you’d like to stay. Here are the latest prices for a 3 night trip for 2 travelers: Top vacation $549; Family vacation $510; Romantic vacation $740; Luxury vacation $553; Budget vacation $284.

Why should you book a vacation package to Cancun?

If all of this sounds good to you, Cancun packages could be the ideal vacation option. By taking advantage of Cancun vacation deals, you can bundle together your hotel, car hire and flights, resulting in big savings. And handling everything together just makes things easier. So why waste time or money? Explore our Cancun travel packages instead.

When should you book a vacation package to Cancun?

If you really want to make the most of your Cancun vacation, choosing the right time to go is essential. The resort's high season tends to last from December to April, when the weather is at its best. November and December are great times to visit, before the season really hits its stride. April can be hectic, as Spring Break crowds descend, but cut-price Cancun getaways in May are an excellent idea.

Where should you stay in Cancun during your vacation?

For any vacation type in cancun:.

Catering for pretty much any type of visitor, the Smart Cancun by Oasis is as well-suited to business trips as it is to family vacations. Located on Tulum Avenue in Downtown Cancun, it's also very convenient for the airport, which is only 20 minutes away.

Another great all-rounder is the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort. Built around a massive pool, this resort features a wellness spa, fitness center and kids' club, so there's something for everyone. Again, it's just 20 minutes by road from the airport.

For family vacations in Cancun:

The Fiesta Americana Condesa is one of Cancun's premier family hotels, scoring highly with its Fiesta Kids club and activities like sand castle building. And it's only around 15-20 minutes from the airport terminal.

If you and your family prefer self-catering, the Suites Villa Italia should measure up. Spacious rooms with air con and kitchenettes are the norm here, while public buses stop right outside, making airport transfers simple.

For romantic vacations in Cancun:

If you're hunting for a more intimate boutique hotel, look no further than the Hotel Casa Margarita. Attentive staff, fine food and comfortable suites combine to place this a notch above the rest for couples. Staff will also arrange airport pick-ups, but it's only 30 minutes away by road.

Casa De Los Sueños is another jewel in Cancun's boutique hotel collection. Located on the Isla Mujeres, it's a hotspot for snorkelers and divers but you can take it easy at the peaceful spa center too. You'll need to take a ferry from the airport, but this only takes 15 minutes.

For luxury vacations in Cancun:

If luxury is your focus, the Pyramid at Grand Oasis could be ideal. This instantly recognizable pyramid-shaped hotel has over 30 restaurants, after dinner acrobat shows and much more to offer - all just 25 minutes from the airport.

Another premium option to consider is the Omni Cancun, where you can relax in your own villa but still access spa facilities and relax in the three cascading pools. The hotel can lay on shuttles or taxis on request, and it's only 9 miles to the airport.

For budget vacations in Cancun:

If price is an issue, the Krystal Cancun matches upmarket hotels in most areas at a fraction of the price, with a large private beach, an excellent Mexican restaurant and a lively kids' club. It's only around 22 minutes away from the airport, too.

The Aloft Cancun is another reliable low cost alternative. Located on the Boulevard Kukulcan, the Aloft has a bright, modern look and the facilities include pools and gyms. It's about 13 miles from the airport, so transfers don't take long.

Spring deals: Mexico, Caribbean for 5,000 AAdvantage miles one-way

I f you're looking to plan a spring getaway, you may be able to get some good use out of your AAdvantage miles. American Airlines is holding a spring award sale that has the carrier offering one-way tickets to a number of high-demand domestic, Caribbean and Central American destinations for as little as 5,000 miles one-way.

The deal runs through March 15 and applies to certain economy flights departing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in April and May.

In all, American said it's putting half a million seats on sale for 5,000 miles.

There's plenty of good news in this deal, which may help you with your spring bookings. We found 5,000-mile one-way availability to places like Turks and Caicos, Barbados and Cancun, Mexico — not to mention the brand-new airport in Tulum, Mexico, which is set to open to U.S. airlines later this month.

Want more airline-specific news? Sign up for TPG's free biweekly Aviation newsletter .

You can also find similar award availability to popular domestic destinations, such as Austin, New Orleans and Charleston, South Carolina, this spring.

At the same time, the sale is a bit hit or miss in terms of dates and city pairs; you might, for instance, find 5,000-mile availability from Charlotte to Montego Bay, Jamaica, on one Saturday in April but not another. The same might be true for flights from Philadelphia to Austin.

But if you're flexible in terms of travel dates and/or destinations, you may be able to fly somewhere warm this spring for as little as 10,000 miles round trip, making it a strong redemption opportunity if you've been accruing AAdvantage miles with the Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see rates and fees ) or are planning to transfer Bilt Rewards points earned by paying rent every month.

Deal basics

Airline : American

Destinations : Many U.S. airports to domestic, Caribbean and Central American destinations

Travel dates : Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between April 2 and May 29

Book by : March 15

How to book : Directly with American Airlines

How to transfer points : You can transfer Bilt Rewards to American Airlines AAdvantage at a rate of 1:1

Sample flights

You'll likely want to start searching flight options on American's website for this sale. It lists a bunch of different destinations involved in the deal.

However, your best bet to find your ideal award availability is to plug in your home airport and start playing around with different dates and destinations.

Again, you may run into some dead ends if you're set on a particular city pair or date.

For instance, let's say I want to fly from New York City to Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands on Saturday, April 6. The cheapest one-way ticket I can find is for 10,000 miles, not 5,000.

But, if I click American's award calendar, I can see that by traveling the following weekend, on April 13, there is award availability starting at 5,000 miles one-way from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Another word of advice: Watch out for some wonky itineraries. Here's what appears to be a great option from Washington, D.C.'s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to Barbados' Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) for April 13. The one-way award flight goes for 5,000 miles ... but with an overnight layover in Miami.

If I can depart a few days earlier, on Wednesday, though, things look (at least somewhat) better.

The best news in this deal is that there are a lot of options out there. Here's one from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to the brand-new Tulum International Airport (TQO) in Mexico for 5,000 miles each way. Note that there are brief stops at American hubs in each direction.

All things considered, though, the availability is fairly widespread. For instance, here's American's award calendar from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to Cancun International Airport (CUN) in April. You can see 5,000-mile award availability every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

So, depending on your origin and destination airports, there's a good chance there's a deal in there for you somewhere if you have AAdvantage miles to spend.

Bottom line

American Airlines now uses dynamic pricing for its AAdvantage redemptions and no longer sticks to an award chart. However, it does publish one that's meant to serve as a reference for "estimated starting values."

That chart lists 10,000 miles as the starting point for a one-way main cabin ticket between the 48 contiguous U.S. states and Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.

So, in a lot of cases, this deal offers flights at half that amount — and to some prime warm-weather destinations during peak spring travel season .

More About Riviera Maya

Above all else, beaches are what define the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula—soft, blinding white strands of sand embracing clear turquoise waters; shores that curve into calm lagoons, coves, and inlets; and waves that crash against cliffs. The towns in this wild landscape are varied and eccentric. Puerto Morelos has the relaxed atmosphere of a Mexican fishing village. Playa del Carmen is filled with resorts—some of them All-Inclusive—that are as glitzy as those in Cancún and Cozumel. The beaches here, from Punta Tanchacté to Tulum, are beloved by scuba divers, snorkelers, bird-watchers, and beachcombers. Against this backdrop is Mayan culture. Although the modern Maya live in the cities and villages along the coast, their history can be seen at the ruins such as Tulum, where dramatic pyramids sit on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean, welcoming the sunrise each morning.

Sargassum/Seaweed Advisory

Sargassum is a free-floating seaweed that is especially prolific in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. While beneficial to ocean life, these large free-floating seaweed mats often wash up on beaches. The amount of seaweed on the beaches fluctuates based on the time of year and ocean currents. While resorts do their best to maintain the beaches for their guests, you may experience some inconvenience during your stay.

Juan Soto Won't Go to Mexico City With the Yankees, Plans To Work On His Swing

Soto is still tinkering as Opening Day approaches.

  • Author: Ryan Phillips, Special to SI.com

In this story:

The New York Yankees are headed to Mexico City this weekend for two exhibition games against the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Unfortunately for everyone involved, a number of Yankees starters won't be making the trip. The latest to drop out is star left fielder Juan Soto, who will reportedly remain in Tampa to "continue working on his swing."

Soto and Aaron Judge are among those who won't be traveling. It appears the biggest names on the roster for the exhibition are Giancarlo Stanton, Alex Verdugo and Anthony Volpe.

It's odd that Soto's excuse for not going is to tinker with his swing, since he has largely been tearing up spring training. In 14 games this spring, Soto is hitting .325, with a .386 OPS, while slugging .700. That's an OPS of 1.086, with four home runs, 10 RBIs and three doubles.

Soto did have a mini-slump from March 11-16 when he went 0-for-12 in a four-game span. But in the three games since he's gone 4-for-10 with a double and two walks against one strikeout. It could be he and the Yankees are worried about his power falling off, since he hasn't hit a home run since March 10.

The showcase games in Mexico City are obviously a secondary concern to the Yankees, who are focusing on turning things around in 2024 after going 82-80 and finishing fourth in the American League East in 2023. Part of that turnaround plan was pulling off a blockbuster deal to acquire Soto, even though he's in his walk year.

Soto staying behind doesn't matter much in the end, but it's notable that this close to Opening Day he still feels like he needs to tinker with his swing. The Yankees need him to hit the ground running.
