We had friends book us on this island tour & it was amazing!! Not one bad thing to say & our driver & tour guide (Wes) was not only a great driver, he was also very funny & extremely knowledgeable on the island history. This tour stopped at so many great locations that included Kualoa Ranch, where we were treated to an excellent buffet style lunch after our tour of the ranch, as well as we stopped at a Macadamia farm, the Dole plantation & several amazing lookout points. Along our stops we were lucky enough to see 2 whales & even some sea turtles.

Roberts Hawaii is the tour company I used to set up my time on the Big Island. EVERYONE I dealt with from the Honolulu airport, to the Hilo airport, to the cars and tour guides…they were ALL exceptional!!!! Most of my readers know I do NOT use any guide without checking with TA first and this group came highly recommended and I’ll vouch for that authenticity!!! Knowledgeable, nice, and fun and boy did I get my money’s worth with this trip to the Big Island!!! Thanks to all of you on the Roberts Hawaii Team!!!! You were the best!!!

Our driver Fred was bang on time at the pick up, he is extremely knowledgeable with regards to the island history and Polynesian culture and relays all this throughout the day. The coach was very comfortable and during the tour there are plenty of stops to stretch your legs. Pretty much everything was covered during our tour, and the highlights for me were the Macadamia nut farm and the Dole Pineapple plantation.

Everything you need in an airport shuttle, prompt, attentive, driver safe and calm, helped with my luggage and most importantly got me to the airport on time. Easy to book online (although i did have to alter my departure time as i prefer to be at the airport with plenty of time). Not the cheapest but definitely not expensive, and i prefer to pay for reliability. Thanks for minimising the stress levels.

We booked two shore tours with Roberts Hawaii when cruising around the islands; a day trip including Pearl Harbour in Honolulu and Historic Kona on the big island. We highly recommend them! Our Hawaiian package included airport to hotel and hotel to airport shuttle service. This company was perfect both ways. Once we got our luggage from baggage claim we didn't have to touch it again until we got to our room. The driver and his assistants were so very nice. We got a lot of the local flavor on our ride. The driver on the return trip was just as helpful. He was punctual which put our minds at ease. Great company.

Great tour guide, Michael M. Great hotels. Wish we had more time on the beach, for swim and that we would stop for photo op. Too bad for Maui fires, we would have loved to go to the other side of island- the stay in Kauea was hurried and rush/rush.

It was a good trip. We saw a lot in all 4 islands, the accommodations in the hotels in Hawaii, Maui and Kauai were fantastic. The hotel in Honolulu (Twin Fin) was in need of updating. The location was good and the food good, but the room was without a chair and was a little seedy. The excursions we went on were fabulous. Loved going from island to island but were disappointed that no accommodations were made to get back from some of the excursions. We were not comfortable with having to find a cab to get back from whale watching or the sunset cruise and elected not to go. There should also be recommendations made for getting to the hotel from the airport and help with getting back to the airport at the end of the trip. All in all, a very good trip, good sights, good food and the group on the tour were wonderful.

I went on the Hawaii GIVE volunteer trip and it was AMAZING. The guides are awesome and truly make your time there more memorable and fun. I met super nice people who I will stay in touch with. The experience is what makes traveling with GIVE the most enjoyable and rewarding. There is so much that I would love to talk about this trip but in summary I would recommend anyone to go, it really is rewarding and life-altering as they immerse you deep into the Hawaiian culture.

Wow. It's hard to put into words how one week can foster such immense, positive change in so many different ways. Growing up, I have always dreamt of visiting Hawai'i, but not in the typical tourist fashion that most do. I'm eternally grateful for GIVE for allowing me to experience Hawai'i in the way I had always dreamt of: by being immersed within its rich, vibrant Aloha-centered culture & being deeply involved with the restoration of the indescribably beautiful land and local communities. GIVE gave me the chance to foster a relationship with the 'aina (land) and kai (ocean) in ways I never would have thought possible. Avoid Avoid Avoid… I’ve experienced nothing but non existent and abysmal customer service from TourRadar. My holiday to the Hawaii Islands was paid in full, 1 week before flying we were informed that the Maui section of the holiday was cancelled. The date we were informed was 16/08/2023. Todays date is 12/10/2023 and I’m still waiting for a refund of $871. TourRadar has ignored all correspondence from me chasing the refund and I’ve even had replies where they are waiting for accounts which has been ongoing for weeks. Nothing but stress and time this company has caused me. From my point of view I’ve received non existent customer service & not even the curtesy of updates from them. Booking a holiday is meant to be an enjoyable experience. This was my second time using TourRadar and while there was no issue the first time I will not be using them again after this experience.

I think that it would have been better if earlier notification about the wildfires in Mauai had been made. There was some tardiness about information on wether the tour would go or not.

Bamba Travel

Bamba Travel was the only tour operator which responded and agreed to help me plan my tour in Hawaii. Although I would have liked a more thoroughly organised tour like pick up from the cruise terminal and transport to the Kualoa ranch organised, I had to take the public bus by myself. It was a bit daunting but Bamba gave me some instructions. At Hawaii it quite easy and safe to take public transport during the day. Bamba was helpful at every step. A bit slow with regards to correspondence bec of time differences as they are in the USA but they would respond daily. Thank you Bamba for helping me organise a tailored plan to meet most of my needs. I had a great time in Hawaii.

All in all, a very badly organised tour, especially considering how much I payed. To start with, despite providing my airline details, no hotel shuttle was booked for me. As such, I had to pay $30 out of my own money at the airport for. Day 1: Hanauma Bay Snorkelling - Another poorly organised tour on behalf of Bamba. They gave the tour company the name 'Arthur' instead of 'Alex', however luckily for me they understood my situation and still agreed to take me. Day 2: Boat Ride - I didn't even bother doing this. It is organised for 7am, at a hotel a 50 minute walk from the hostel I was staying at. I did however meet a fellow traveller, that also booked through Bamba, and told me the experience was not the best. As such, I was actually very glad I decided to miss it. Day 3: Waterfall Hike - Actually, this was very good, nothing but positives. The tour guide was amazing, and I had a very enjoyable day Day 4: Pearl Harbour - Due to Bamba (again!) giving the tour company the wrong name, they refused to let me on the bus. As such, I was left at the bus stop with nothing, and waited for about 40 mins hoping that another bus would turn up and let me on. I emailed Bamba telling them how dissapointed I was, and they agreed to rebook it for me. However, I asked them to rebook if for saturday, they instead booked it for friday. As a result of this I has to pay another $30 out of my own money to reschedule tours that I had booked for myself on Friday (my free day). All in all, I would not book this again. I would recommend that you should instead book the hostel (Polynesian Hostel Beach Club), and all subsequent activities yourself.

Fact Check: Facebook Page Says Company To Launch Submarine Shuttle Service Between Oahu and Maui. Here's What We Know

A company in Hawaii is launching a submarine shuttle service that transports passengers between the islands of Oahu and Maui.

On March 21, 2024, the Facebook page The State of Hawaii posted an exciting announcement titled "Submarine Shuttle Service Launched Between Oahu and Maui: A Revolutionary Underwater Journey." According to the post , a company named SubSea Transit Inc. was introducing the service:

In an innovative step towards revolutionizing inter-island travel in Hawaii, SubSea Transit Inc. has launched an unprecedented submarine shuttle service between Oahu and Maui. This groundbreaking initiative offers travelers a unique and cost-effective alternative to traditional air and sea travel, while providing an unforgettable underwater experience.

This was not an official communication from Hawaii's actual Facebook page. While this The State of Hawaii page lacks a disclaimer explicitly stating that its output is satirical, it is  listed as an "entertainment website" and entertainment is clearly the page's intent. Most of the posts appear to use AI-generated imagery alongside questionable claims. A March 24, 2024 post , for example, claimed that the ( nonexistent ) "Hawaiian Department of Tourist Services" had introduced an "innovative obesity tax for visitors." 

Among several other things that cast doubt on the authenticity of the page is the fact that the official Seal of Hawaii (below left) does not contain a surfboard (as featured on the Facebook page in question), and the state's motto is not, as it claims, "we go surf." Hawaii's state motto is "Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono," a Hawaiian saying that means "The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness."

The announcement contained  further details that strain credulity. Snopes finds it unlikely, for example, that the CEO of SubSea Transit Inc would be so perfectly named for the job — Marina Deepwater: 

The CEO of SubSea Transit Inc., Dr. Marina Deepwater, expressed her excitement about the launch. "We're not just offering a ride; we're offering an experience. Passengers can witness the beauty of underwater Hawaii – from coral reefs to marine life – all while traveling comfortably between Oahu and Maui," Dr. Deepwater stated at the inauguration ceremony.

Further, our research uncovered  no company named SubSea Transit Inc. — certainly, at least, there is no company with that name that has successfully launched a submarine shuttle service in Hawaii. 

Because the post comes from an entertainment page pretending to be associated with the state of Hawaii, Snopes rates the announcement "False."
