ARE ZODIAC ADVENTURES SAFE?

Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable, especially in the usually calm waters of Vancouver’s Inner Harbor and Burrard Inlet.

WILL WE SEE WHALES ON SEA VANCOUVER?

No, this is a city sightseeing adventure and it DOES NOT include whale watching. Vancouver, however, is home to a variety of birds and sea mammals and we may occasionally see dolphins, harbor seals, bald eagles, and other sea birds during adventures.

DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

DO TOURS RUN IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

  • 149michaelanderson 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A Wonderful February Ride in an Open Boat up Beautiful Indian Arm We were in Vancouver for a Valentine's Day week get-away and really wanted to just get out on the water to see some views and wildlife... all of the whale watching excursions and harbour dinner cruises were closed until at least the warmer weather in May and June so we picked the Granite Falls Zodiac Tour by Vancouver Water Adventures... I used to work year-round out on the water on tugs in nearby Howe Sound and the islands so the available neoprene floater suits to keep us warm were a major "plus" in making the "yes" decision to go on February trip in an open boat up to the North Shore's Indian Arm... we bundled up and suited up and headed out in the super safe Zodiac inflatable boat... our guide did a great job of keeping the ride as smooth as could be by keeping an eye out and quartering the boat wakes, which were really the only chop on an otherwise pretty calm and partially sunny - but very cool on the water - day... the waterfall shown in the Tripadvisor photo is actually Silver Falls, which we saw on the way back and which is closer the the boat and which we would have liked to spend more time enjoying... in that the tour was 3 hours and we really wanted to just be out in nature, we would have preferred to spend less time exploring the commercial and industrial sites, docks and marinas in Vancouver Harbour and spend more time up Indian Arm... we left Indian Arm still being curious to see the Indian River estuary just north of the Wigwam Inn at the north end of Indian Arm... we very much appreciated the land recognition given by our guide that Vancouver and Vancouver Water Adventures is located on and the tour is through the unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations... we thought the guide ought to mention as we departed the False Creek dock area heading out into English Bay that the Vancouver Museum and Planetarium and Vanier Park to the left are all on what was once Kitsilano Reserve No. 6 and that the families were forcibly relocated from their Squamish village of Sen̓áḵw in 1913... we were happy to have the opportunity to be out on the water on a cool February day to see Vancouver from the water and to see the seabirds and eagles and seals and waterfalls in the beautiful forested mountain fjord of Indian Arm and then to come back to the Granville Island Market area for a warm up with a fabulous restaurant meal as a wonderful part of the day... We would take the trip again!... thank you Vancouver Water Adventures! Read more Written March 3, 2024

  • X4393AQsandrineb 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A must-do activity This activity is the one you don’t want to miss when coming in Vancouver for a short trip. We only stayed there for a weekend and this tour gave us the chance to see so many things at once. We took so many pictures of scenic views and we got to see the seals, but also a few bald eagles. Finally, Dani, our guide, was absolutely amazing. She told us all about the different places and their history and was sure to bring us to best spots around the bay. 10/10 experience even out of the regular season, it’s totally worth the trip! • KeithP16 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Seals, lighthouse and more! Where to start - the day was looking like it was going to be very wet before we met up in the shop. Paul, our captain and guide for the trip, gave us all the option of a life jacket or the full suits. All chose the suits and I am glad I did as the boat (rigid hull dinghy) had two powerful outboard motors which meant it was fast and the wind felt a lot cooler at speed! The suits kept everyone dry and warm. Paul gave an initial briefing of what to expect but also gave a knowledgeable talk around the ocean and ecosystem of the area. I learnt a lot in a very short space especially kelp beds and how much C02 they process (more than the rain forests!) Earlier in the day there were humpback whales in the area which heightened everyone's excitement, unfortunately we did not spot any. On the trundle out of the harbour Paul gave lots of interesting facts and cruising along to West Vancouver coast pointed out Will Smith's and also Robert De Niros houses. There was also some history thrown in regarding the Spanish and English deciding who would take what land. WE then went out past the lighthouse to an island (Seal Island?) where the seals were sitting on a relatively small rock, very nice to see them in their natural habitat along with thousands of sea skimming birds who took off as we approached. I believe that the fissure / gulley we entered is one of the most southern fjords in the Northern Hemisphere. On the way back we pulled up next to one of the many massive tankers awaiting their turn to enter port. Definitely worth the trip and if you get Paul, you are in for an informative treat. • Jenna B 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Fun and pretty views Took this tour during the rain, was surprised it wasn’t canceled since it says the tour requires good weather. Some parts when the boat was speeding along we were so blinded by the rain and going so fast the rain hurt our face. The views and info given by our captain when we stopped were breathtaking but I wish we could have enjoyed looking around and seeing where we were traveling as the boat was moving. We were grateful for the suits they had us wear to keep us warm, although they don’t keep you dry but we were made aware of this. Getting out of the boat is a bit hard as you’re bulky with your suit on and there are no grab bars to help get out. Overall, a semi-enjoyable experience, would love to take this tour again without rain so we could take in the scenery better. Read more Written October 3, 2023

  • 822colettem 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Don’t sit in the back What ever you do don’t sit in the back. After I asked if my 5 foot niece and I could have the front seats and a shameless American literally jumped into the front seats the captain tried to make us feel better by saying all the seats are great cause the views are all up. LIE!. The captain then proceed to point the front of the boat at what ever he was talking about and would say “if you look straight ahead”. Maybe the captions should actually take a tour from the back seat so they actually see what there customers are seeing. Saying that, the water proof suits, very comfy, the seats, very comfy. The weather was beautiful with little wind so the drive was also super comfy. So comfortable do don’t even feel the speed. If you are looking for a high speed trill ride, then this is not for you, its too comfortable. Read more Written October 2, 2023

Are Vancouver BC Boat Cruises Worth It?

Not everybody has $199.99 to go big or go home with a five-hour whale watching tour, and that’s understandable.

If these prices seem a little high you may want to consider the Vancouver Hop on Hop Off bus tour , which is equally educational though it won’t have the same scenic element.

You can also get a $15.00 day pass to ride the Aquabus between some of Vancouver’s top attractions , though this is generally for commuters and tends to hug the shoreline on the non-mountain side of downtown.
