The virtuosic symphonies of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth soundtrack will bless our ears once again with the announcement of the Orchestra World Tour this year. The RPG’s reimagined score can be experienced live later this year (can I put a request for Sephiroth’s theme?), and with tickets on sale as early as this month.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Orchestra World Tour begins in Los Angeles, California, on August 10, 2024. Setlists include arrangements from notable Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, the lead behind so many of the soundtracks you know and love, from Final Fantasy VII to the film adaptation Advent Children . New contributions will also be included, featuring Mitsuto Suzuki, Masashi Hamauzu, and other composers on Rebirth .

Additionally, the 100-musician orchestra will be led by the talented Arnie Roth and Eric Roth. Both you may know from their work on the Final Fantasy touring music series, Distant Worlds. If you’re eager to see the lot of them perform, tickets for some locations go on sale March 11, with others not beginning until June.

If you see one of your cities on here, be sure to keep your schedule open for this grand experience. Some regions have multiple times as well, primarily in the late afternoon or night. Even though I always dread hearing those startling boss fight scores, I certainly wouldn’t mind hearing them performed live in all their glory — as long as Sephiroth himself is not in attendance, I’ll try to be there.

About Susan Calloway Combine the big voice of Kelly Clarkson, the soulful power of Adele, and the magical tone of Sarah McLachlan, and you can start describing Susan Calloway. Every great artist has something that sets them apart from the crowd. For Calloway, it has always been her undeniable voice.

Calloway began studying classical piano at age 5, followed by classical voice at age 12, much earlier than most teachers would agree to take on a young singer. She was chosen as the lead in the Broadway musical Annie at age 9 but could not join the cast due to family complications.  Despite the family challenges, Calloway began writing and performing her own songs at school, church, and other local events. After graduating college with honors, she went on the road as the lead singer and main songwriter for popular Midwest band, Red C, of whom she was a founding member. After many road miles, music awards, and CDs sold, Calloway left the band to focus on her career as a solo artist. During this time, she also stumbled into a successful career as a session singer and freelance composer, which helped pay the bills for recording and developing her music. To date, her voice and songs have been featured on hundreds of national TV and radio campaigns.

It was at one of these sessions that she met her first creative partner, Grammy Award-winning producer Gerard Smerek, known for his impressive arsenal of legendary clients, including Aretha Franklin, Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Aerosmith, and Gary Clark. It wasn't until meeting Smerek that Calloway really stepped into her own as a focused solo artist with a sound, style, and presence to be reckoned with. The title song of her first solo EP produced by Smerek, Chasin The Sun , climbed to #37 on national R&R charts, and continues to spin on Top 40, Hot AC, and Pandora radio. "Don't Fall in Love,” from the same EP, was nominated for a Hollywood Music & Media Award for Best Pop Song. Over the past few years, her songs have been placed on hit TV shows like Dawson’s Creek , Summerland , and One Tree Hill . Her most recent release, “Time For This,” co-produced by Smerek, won an LA Music Critic’s Choice Award for Best Song & Performance by an Indie Artist. “Time For This” was quickly an iTunes feature of the week and received stunning press reviews, most notably from the The Huffington Post .

As Calloway’s reputation as a recording artist grew, her voice caught the attention of Grammy Award-winning conductor Arnie Roth, and renowned FINAL FANTASY composer Nobuo Uematsu. Strongly believing her vocals would complement the music from Square Enix’s popular video game franchise, Nobuo himself requested that Calloway sing his new theme song for FINAL FANTASY XIV, “Answers,” which was released in 2013. After an overwhelming response from fans, Calloway was featured on the theme songs for FFXIV extension games: Heavensward , where she performs “Dragonsong,” and Stormblood , where she performs “Revolutions.” Currently FINAL FANTASY XIV has over 10.5 million monthly subscribers, all of whom listen to Calloway sing during gameplay.

In addition to the video game, Calloway is featured on four Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY albums to date. She is also a featured singer for the Distant Worlds: Music from FINAL FANTASY concert tour, performing sold out shows throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. The incredible exposure from these opportunities has won Calloway thousands of fans around the world.

2024 Texas Open leaderboard, grades: Akshay Bhatia nets second PGA Tour win, last Masters invite in playoff

Bhatia's victory means the 2024 masters field is now official.

akshay-bhatia-round-4-valero-g.jpg

There was nothing stress-free about Akshay Bhatia's victory at the 2024 Texas Open despite how most of the week looked. Kickstarting his week with a 9-under 63 on Thursday, the lengthy left hander went wire-to-wire at TPC San Antonio for a playoff victory over Denny McCarthy at 20 under. By doing so, Bhatia became the third youngest winner to go wire-to-wire on the PGA Tour since 1983 behind Rory McIlroy at the 2011 U.S. Open and Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters.

Speaking of the Masters, Bhatia's victory marks his second in as many years, and it comes at a rather opportune time. Earning the final invitation into the 2024 Masters, the 22-year-old will drive down Magnolia Lane for the first time in his professional career and tee it up in only his second major championship. Bhatia's Masters debut comes a decade after qualifying and playing in the first-ever Drive, Chip and Putt competition at Augusta National.

Not only has Bhatia earned his chance to vie for the green jacket next week, he has solidified his playing privileges on the PGA Tour through the 2026 season. Bhatia will tee it up at the PGA Championship as well as the remaining signature events on the PGA Tour schedule.

"I just stuck to my game plan," Bhatia said. "I played great today. I kind of got the goal in mind today. Denny played unbelievable. You got to give him credit. It's hard because he's one of the best putters out here, and when you see him get hot, it's scary. I had a six-shot lead going into the back nine, and then all of sudden, we are tied going into 18 and then of course he makes that putt. Man, what a crazy crazy day."

Bhatia began the final round at TPC San Antonio in possession of a four-stroke lead -- tying Jake Knapp for the largest 54-hole margin this season. The lead grew to five with a birdie immediately out the gate and was pushed to half a dozen when Bhatia added his third birdie of the round on No. 4.

McCarthy attempted to apply some pressure on the front, but it proved ineffective as Bhatia went to the inward half with his six-stroke lead still intact. A punch finally landed on No. 10 when McCarthy connected from distance for his second birdie of the day and Bhatia failed to get up-and-down from long of the green cutting his lead to four. The drama ensued from there.

After making par on the 11th, McCarthy went unconscious and left Bhatia defenseless. Birdie after birdie came from the blade of McCarthy as he rattled off six in a row and within a blink of an eye, Bhatia's lead of six was cut to zero as the two men stood on the tee at the par-5 18th.

Both facing roughly 12-foot birdie bids, both connected and unleashed fist pumps after both players reached 20 under -- nine clear of McIlroy in third place. McCarthy's final putt in regulation was his 92nd of the week tying a PGA Tour record for fewest amounts of putts in a tournament while Bhatia's made waves for a completely different reason.

An update on Akshay Bhatia's shoulder injury. https://t.co/iYKkZXlTKc pic.twitter.com/U08UYGHmiX — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 7, 2024

Popping his shoulder out of his socket during his celebration, Bhatia called upon the services of his physiotherapist on the first playoff hole. With his ball in the fairway, Bhatia watched as McCarthy approached his third and chunked his wedge into the creek protecting the putting surface.

After getting his shoulder taped, Bhatia stepped to his and safely found the putting surface to all but secure his second PGA Tour victory and a trip to the Masters.

"This is awesome," Bhatia said. "It's hard to win out here as it showed today. My mom's birthday was on April 1, and her wish was to get in the Masters. I'm hoping I make her proud." Grade: A+

Here are the grades for the rest of the notables on the leaderboard at the 2024 Texas Open

3. Rory McIlroy (-11): Oh boy, here we go again. It was an ideal last start for McIlroy ahead of the Masters as he fired a final-round 66 and got the big numbers out of his system. Adhering to the swing advice of Butch Harmon, McIlroy made a conscious effort to eliminate the quick, aggressive left miss and took a huge step in the right direction in terms of his iron play. He ranked third in strokes gained approach thanks to gaining nearly four with his scoring clubs on Sunday alone. Grade: A

"I definitely feel like I'm in a better place than I was a few weeks ago," McIlroy said. "Through the Florida swing, there was just a lot of volatility in my game, some good, some bad, quite a few big numbers, so just trying to tidy that up. For me, I'm always going to be able to hit good shots, it's just how bad the bad ones are, and this week the bad ones were still in play and no too bad, and I was able to scramble well enough when I did hit a few poor ones. Again, overall much more pleased with where my game is compared to two or three weeks ago."

Rory McIlroy: bogey-free 66 today; his best final round leading into the Masters in 10 years. In 2014, he shot 65 on Sunday in Houston - finished T-8 the next week at Augusta. — Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) April 7, 2024

T7. Hideki Matsuyama (-8): The 2021 Masters champion is red hot. Matsuyama's last four starts now read: Win, T12, T6, T7. He was once again brilliant from tee to green -- ranking inside the top 20 in each metric -- but did not get as much as he would have liked out of the putter ranking first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green and with his ball striking in tow, Matsuyama has to be on the short list of players who can win next week.  Grade: A-

T10. Jordan Spieth (-6): This week featured just about everything from Spieth -- a hole-in-one, a gutter ball, plenty of birdies and plenty of mistakes. It all added up to a 6-under total for his first top-10 finish since the WM Phoenix Open and put an end to a mini dip in form. Spieth was insistent that his game was close on Thursday, and he flashed glimpses of what may be to come at Augusta National. He's driving the ball great (ranked fourth in strokes gained off tee), and his iron play was much sharper. Surprisingly, his short game has been rather meh in his last three starts, but that should change sooner rather than later. Grade: B

The Jordan Spieth Experience™️ https://t.co/15huJUWoYf pic.twitter.com/xrzHb4EE8f — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 7, 2024

T24. Max Homa (-4): After opening with a 3-under 69, Homa got stuck in the mud and played his next 54 holes in only 1 under. He came into this week needing to answer questions around his driver and he did just that with a couple really solid rounds from off the tee. His iron play is in a comfy spot, and it will need to continue to be if he expects to contend at the Masters for the first time in his career. Grade: C+

T75. Collin Morikawa (+5): Is it time to press the panic button on Morikawa? The two-time major champion made the cut on the number and wasn't able to do much with the opportunity finishing near the bottom of the weekend pack. Morikawa has now lost strokes on approach in three straight tournaments and hasn't clocked a top-five finish since the first week of the year at The Sentry. Without his iron play, Morikawa looks very (very) average. Grade: D

For centuries, people have flocked to her Mothercrystals to partake of their blessing—the abundant aether that fuels the magicks they rely upon in their everyday lives. As the aether begins to fade and the lifeless deadlands spread ever further, so too does the struggle for possession of the final flickers of the Mothers' light grow ever more fierce. Yet amidst the gathering storm, there are those who believe that the legacy of the crystals has shaped mankind's destiny for long enough.

A demo for Final Fantasy 16 is reportedly coming to PC soon, as producer Yoshi-P says work on the port is 'going smoother than we thought it would'

Still no confirmation of a release date, however.

Final Fantasy 16 concept art Clive

Earlier this month, Final Fantasy 16 's director Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) revealed that the PC port of the acclaimed fantasy sequel is in its "final stages" of optimisation. Now, it's been reported that a demo of the RPG is coming to PC soon, with Yoshida stating progress on the port is "going smoother than we thought it would".

Speaking to Destructoid , Yoshida explained that Square Enix's current focus is figuring out what the minimum specs of Final Fantasy 16 will be on PC to ensure the game is still able to deliver the "seamless" experience Square Enix intended for the sequel's open world action.

"We want to have no breaks in the game," Yoshida said. "To replicate that on PC, you're going to need a pretty high-spec PC. So right now, what we're doing is we're testing the game, and our current optimization, on a lot of different systems to see, again, what are going to be those minimum specs for playing the game in a way that is similar to the PS5 experience."

According to Destructoid, Yoshida explained that the planned demo is intended to let players test Final Fantasy 16 on their systems ahead of time, thereby ensuring it can handle the game before dropping any cash on it. According to Yoshida, FF16 will feature the kind of customisation settings that "players have come to expect from a PC game" so there should be some scalability to the port. But it is nonetheless likely to be a pretty demanding experience. Yoshida has previously stated players should expect system requirements to be "somewhat high" and that playing the game on an SSD should be considered "a must" .

The last twelve months has been a difficult time for big-budget launches and ports on PC. Games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and The Last of Us: Part 1 arrived in particularly rough shape on PC last year, though more recent releases like Horizon: Forbidden West were considerably more stable on release. Phil Iwaniuk explored the causes of the recent spate of inconsistent ports, concluding that the issue is less to do with hardware differences, and is more about modern game development pipelines. "Developers have to try twice as hard to achieve half the progress that would have been possible 10 years ago" he wrote. "And that's expensive."

You can read the full interview with Yoshida here . Although the PC version of the game is clearly imminent, Yoshida stopped short of offering a firm release date. Given the way the studio is talking, however, I'd be surprised if we didn't get that confirmation within the next few weeks.

Another Final Fantasy Game Is Out on Xbox

  • Final Fantasy 14 is now available on the Xbox Series X/S.
  • Square Enix is offering three editions of the game, with prices varying from $19.99 to $139.99.
  • While FF14 requires two subscriptions to play, it also offers a generous free trial with no time limits.

Final Fantasy 14 Online is now available on the current-generation Xbox consoles. Although their backward compatibility allows access to a wide variety of FF titles, Final Fantasy 14 is only the third series entry made specifically for the Xbox Series X and Series S, and the first since Crisis Core: FF7 Reunion was released in late 2022.

The Final Fantasy 14 Xbox port was originally confirmed in July 2023, as part of the game's annual Fan Festival. That announcement arrived just a month shy of the MMORPG's tenth anniversary, not accounting for the unsuccessful 1.0 version of the game that was launched in 2010 and shut down two years later.

Every Main Final Fantasy Game, Ranked By How Long They Take To Beat

Xbox gamers have 3 ff14 editions to choose from.

Following a month-long Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta period , the MMORPG is now finally available on Microsoft's latest consoles. Square Enix has launched three versions of the game, consistent with its PlayStation and PC release strategy. The most affordable of the bunch is the $19.99 Starter Edition. This version comes with the base game, Final Fantasy 14 : A Realm Reborn , and its first two expansions in the form of Heavensward and Stormblood , released in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

The $59.99 Complete Edition also offers access to the 2019 expansion Shadowbringers and its 2021 follow-up, Endwalker . Finally, the $139.99 Complete Collector's Edition comes with a variety of in-game bonuses, such as mounts and glamours for those who enjoy the game's transmogrification system used for adopting the appearances of specific gear while retaining the stats of one's preferred armor pieces. Aside from buying one edition of the game, Final Fantasy 14 Xbox players will also need to pay for two subscriptions ; one for the game itself, which starts at $12.99 per month, and one for any version of Xbox Game Pass. Its cheapest Core tier comes with a $9.99 monthly fee.

All Final Fantasy 14 Online Xbox Editions

  • Starter Edition - $19.99
  • Complete Edition - $59.99
  • Complete Collector's Edition - $139.99

Buying any edition of FF14 Online by April 19 will unlock access to two early bird bonuses, Palom Minion and Menphina's Earring (which gives a 30% EXP boost up to level 80).

The dual-subscription requirement has already garnered some criticism from Xbox users, especially given how their PlayStation-owning colleagues do not have to pay for any PS Plus tier in order to play Final Fantasy 14 . All editions of the game do at least come with a 30-day free play period. Square Enix is also offering a generous trial that includes the base game and its first expansion, thus being capped at level 60, with no time limits for completing that content.

Even so, the need to spend over $20 on two monthly subscriptions just to keep playing the game might end up discouraging some people from giving the Xbox version of Final Fantasy 14 a chance. But given Microsoft's clearly growing interest in bringing high-quality JRPGs to its gaming ecosystem, the possibility of FF14 either dropping the Xbox Game Pass requirement or joining its subscription catalog in the future cannot be ruled out entirely.

Final Fantasy 14

Final Fantasy XIV's original release was less-than-stellar, with many fans blasting the game for its array of issues. This prompted developers to cancel the MMO and rebuild it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Since then, the title has seen a massive resurgence and has quickly become one of the best MMOs ever made, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers online at any given time.
