Soi Buakhao Pattaya – A Brief Guide & What to Expect

Soi Buakhao is one of the busiest beer bar entertainment areas of Pattaya, with day and night boozing going on and a lot more that attracts foreign tourists year after year.

Pretty Thai girls in beer bars, Scandinavian bars, sports bars, gentlemen’s clubs, massage shops, and gogo bars are some of the delightful features you’ll find along and around Soi Buakhao –and more.

A big attraction to Soi Buakhao, apart from boozing, ladies and English breakfasts, is it’s the most affordable place for all these delights in Pattaya.

While Soi Buakhao is over 1.5 km long the most central location or busiest area is near Soi Pattayasaisong 9 (Tree Town Night Market), which leads to the main Pattaya Sai Song.

It’s best to think of Soi Buakhao as one big area with many Sois and alleys running off it, with the central part of this being Soi Buakhao.

Soi Buakhao Nightlife

Only a few places in Thailand are quite so populated with bars within one area, like Buakhao. Yes, some have a heck of a lot of bars like in Bangkok, Phuket and other places, but Soi Buakhao area is on another level.

Buakhao is one of the most affordable areas in many ways, especially the beer prices.

Buakhao has a wide range of beer bars available, including many quiet places where guys can down their beers without needing to give or have attention from the hostess girls. 

There are many of these bars spread out, and you’ll find your usual English, Scandinavian, Aussie and other types of bars if you need some connection with your home country. 

The area is also not short of sports bars to watch the footie and live bands playing popular western cover music and a mix of Thai – Isan!

Hostess Type Bars

There are plenty of hostess bars where the girls call or even shout WELCOME to invite you inside to buy yourself and them a drink. Buying a drink for the ladies gives them a small commission for each drink. Most of these bars have ladies willing to leave the bar with customers if they choose to as long as they pay a bar fine of 500 – 800 THB to cover taking the night off work.

Soi LK Metro Bars

Soi LK has a lot of life going on after 5pm with a smaller but still full-on version of Pattaya Walking St –the famous Gogo Bar street. There’s a selection of gogo bars, hostess bars and other bars around this area.

Tree Town Bars

Tree town, which is right in the centre of the action and leads from Soi Buakhao to Pattaya 2nd Rd (Pattaya Sai Song Rd). It’s a large area with many bars that offer seating outside. It’s one of those central spots for sitting and watching the numerous foreigners entering and leaving the wonderful world of Soi Buakhao.

Gentlemen Clubs

Pattaya and the Soi Buakhao area have a good selection of gentlemen club/bars with a more upmarket appearance and service and offer privacy. Soi Chalermphrakiat 25 –off 3rd Street, and Soi Boomerang is the closest gentlemen’s clubs near the Soi Buakhao area.

Which Bars Do You Recommend?

I wouldn’t recommend one or another as what one person likes — another may not like the place; it’s subjective. The best place to start and find bars is to walk along Soi Buakhao near the Tree Town Market area and then along any side roads (Sois).

Visiting the Pattaya facebook groups like the one for Soi Buakhao can help you to stay up to date with what’s going on and special events at bars.

The Soi Buakhao area is full of places to eat Thai and western food. It’s big on burgers, pizzas and old-fashioned comfort western food.

The British have plenty of full English breakfast choices after a night of debauchery to cleanse their stomachs, and the Scandinavians have an abundance of comfort food stations to get fed.

Soi Buakhao is much about small eateries serving Thai and western dishes rather than large stylish restaurants. However, the area does also have steakhouse establishments.

Street food and mom n pop Thai food is better here than anywhere in main Pattaya, which includes the Tree Town stalls. 

Hotels and Staying Near Soi Buakhao

Remember that if you desire to stay around Soi Buakhao, it’s very lively at night, so if you require a peaceful setting, search well and stay outside the busy sois.

The area is big on guesthouses, and a lot of them –at affordable prices. So it’s where you can arrive in a traditional style, look at a guesthouse you like, and see if they have rooms available. 

For better upmarket hotel options you have to check out the surrounding areas of Soi Buakhao near 2nd road and beach road to remain fairly close to the Buakhao area.

Many guesthouses are small bars and restaurants where some travellers enjoy staying.

Anything else about Soi Buakhao?

As well as boozing, eyeing up the numerous Thai ladies, eating burgers and everything else –you can also find yourself plenty of massage shops, including what is known as a soapy massage and then venture into any of the local cannabis shops for some legal spliff smoking.

Local amenities like phramacies, barbers, money exchange and convenience stores like 7-11 and Family Mart are all available within walking distance.

Songthaews (two-sided trucks) also known as baht buses in Pattaya run along Soi Buakhao.

Final Thoughts

Soi Buakhao is not going tickle everybody’s fancy –and some may even turn their noses up in true hi-so fashion. However, it has a certain vibe about it that keeps many returning annually for their dose of down-to-earth boozing, eating cheaply and being entertained by the ladies.

If you are budgeting, then walking straight past Walking Street and onto Soi Buakhao will reduce your ATM card usage.

Soi Buakhao is a 1.7-kilometer road that runs south to north from South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai) to Central Pattaya Road (Pattaya Klang) and between 2nd Road and 3rd Road.

To the west, 2nd Road is a maximum of 370 meters, and Pattaya Beach is approximately 650 meters. To the east, 3rd Road is an average of around 350 meters away.

At the southern end, where you enter/exit Soi Buakhao on South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai) it’s approximately 650 meters to Walking Street .

Soi Buakhao (photo above) is right in the heart of Pattaya and has a “main street” feel about it, despite there being no pavements, and in many places, the road is barely wide enough for two cars.

What’s on Soi Buakhao

There are lots of what you would find on any busy high street, including banks, currency exchangers, visa services, tour booking services, travel agents, convenience stores, pharmacies, clinics, barbers, and beauty salons.

Soi Buakhao and its most popular side streets and alleys are home to a vast array of bars and naughty nightlife venues, western and Thai restaurants, cheap apartments and guest houses, massage parlors, cannabis cafes, and some of the most popular guest-friendly hotels in Pattaya .

Being such a hub of budget-priced accommodation and cheap bars and nightlife, it’s a great place to stay for single men doing Pattaya cheap .

Bars & Nightlife on Soi Buakhao

You’re never far away from the nearest girlie bar on Soi Buakhao, and lady drinks and bar-fine prices in the Soi Buakhao area are the cheapest of anywhere in Pattaya.

Not all the bars on Soi Buakhao are girlie bars. There are many bars like Nikom Court (photo above) where you can drink cheap beer and watch the world go by without being pestered to buy lady drinks.

Due to price wars, happy hours, and special promotions, Soi Buakhao is home to some of the cheapest bars in Pattaya.

Tree Town Night Market Bars

Tree Town Night Market on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya (unless you’re shopping for girls) is not actually a night market. It’s a popular eating place and a naughty nightlife zone with oodles of girlie bars.

Places to Eat on Soi Buakhao

Whether you want to eat cheap, eat fast food, eat western food, or Thai street food, you’re spoilt for choice on Soi Buakhao.

Many of Pattaya’s favorite restaurants, like Nicky’s (photo above), Witherspoon’s, and Cheap Charlies, are on Soi Buakhao.

With restaurants like Hungry Hippo (photo above) serving breakfasts for less than a hundred baht, and lunches and dinners for under 150 baht, Soi Buakhao is one the cheapest places to eat in Pattaya.

The food court at Tree Town Night Market (photo above) is always a popular place to eat at night.

Amsterdam-style cannabis cafes have become increasingly popular in Pattaya since the decriminalization of cannabis in Thailand.

Smoking weed in public in Pattaya is not permitted, but most cafes provide a private smoking area.

Popular Soi Buakhao Alleys and Side Streets

The sois and alleys along Soi Buakhao, which are listed below, are all also popular adult nightlife and entertainment zones in their own right. Together, they make the Soi Buakhao area the largest continuous nightlife and adult entertainment zone in Pattaya.

Soi LK Metro

LK Metro (photo above) is an ‘L’ shaped alley on the corner of Soi Diana Inn and Soi Buakhao. Often dubbed as the new Walking Street, it’s home to a large number of go-go clubs, sports bars, music bars, and cheap guest houses.

Soi Diana Inn

Soi Diana Inn (photo above) is an approximately 375-meter long street that connects Soi Buakhao to 2nd Road at about the halfway point of Soi Buakhao.

Soi Diana is home to several restaurants and Areca Lodge, LK Residence, and LK Metropole—3 of the most popular girl/guest-friendly hotels in the Soi Buakhao area of Pattaya.

Soi Lengkee

Soi Lengkee (photo above) connects Soi Buakhao to 3rd Road, just a few meters south of the junction of Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana Inn. The (approximately) 260-meter-long street is home to various bars, restaurants, massage parlors, guest houses, various convenience stores, and the guest/girl-friendly Opey De Place hotel.

Soi Chaiyapoon

Soi Chaiyapoon, also known as Soi Pothole, is just 35 meters north of Soi Lengkee and also connects with 3rd Road.

Soi Chaiyapoon is home to the very popular Triangle Bar, numerous massage parlors, girlie bars, cheap restaurants and cafes, and several gay clubs.

Soi Honey (Soi 11) is about 140 meters north of Soi Diana Inn and connects Soi Buakhao to 2nd Road. Soi Honey is home to many bars, guest houses, and hotels but is best known for its massage parlors—including soapy massage.

Soi Made In Thailand

Soi Made In Thailand is on the left, 70 meters north of Tree Town Night Market. What remains of Soi Made In Thailand (see photo above), since much of it was demolished in November 2021, is an approximately 150-meter-long row of beer bars.

On the land formerly occupied by a large part of Soi Made In Thailand, the Myth Night beer bar complex opened in late 2023, from where you can continue on to the remaining length of Soi Made In Thailand.

Soi New Plaza

The entrance to Soi New Plaza is on the left, approximately 350 meters north of Tree Town Night Market.

The total length of Soi New Plaza is 250 meters, with the main 100-meter-long row of open-fronted beer bars located closest to the exit to Pattaya 2nd Road, almost opposite Soi 8, and only 90 meters from Soi 7.

Soi Boomerang

Soi Boomerang is a 110-meter-long L-shaped alley that is best known for its many gentleman’s clubs. If you are going north on Soi Buakhao, Soi Boomerang is the next soi after Soi 15 on the left side, about 40 meters before Pattaya City Hospital.

Getting Around Soi Buakhao

Baht buses run in both directions on Soi Buakhao and Central and South Pattaya Roads, and you’re never more than a short walk away from a motorcycle taxi rank.

So commuting up and down and getting around Pattaya from Soi Baukhao is very convenient and cheap.

Soi 6 Pattaya Where Pleasures Are Short And Sweet

Soi Buakhao is an area with a range of beer bars, go-go bars, restaurants and hotels. However, since it is located in a street away from the main Beach Road area, it is less crowded as not everyone comes across it unless through recommendations. Along with Soi Diana Inn and Soi LK Metro nearby, this street has some of the best Pattaya bars within easy reach. It is a perfect option for a quieter evening out to enjoy the city’s nightlife.

Running parallel to  Pattaya Second Road  and Third Road, Soi Buakhao stretches from Pattaya Central Road (Pattaya Klang) to Pattaya South Road (Pattaya Tai). Soi Diana Inn is located off this street and Second Road, while  Soi LK Metro  forms an L-shaped street that has entrances from Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana Inn.

What to expect

Almost every area in the city has its share of nightlife in the form of beer bars, go-go bars and coyote bars with Pattaya bar girls who are willing to perform any service either short time or for the whole night, at the right price, of course. There are many bars, hotels and restaurants along Soi Buakhao. Of this, Pook Swan House, a guesthouse run by the Pook Bar chain that employs ladyboys, is convenient as it has rooms, a restaurant and a bar attached. The sister concern Pook Bar Pattaya, which is located on  Soi 6  is a popular ladyboy bar in the city. There are several Go-Go bars in Soi Buakhao, the best of which is Oasis that is located 100 metres away from the Soi LK Metro entrance. This bar is reputed to have some of the best looking bar girls in Pattaya and is a lively place with a nice ambience and good music. The party starts every evening from 5 pm up to 10 pm, which is the happy hour and carries on until the wee hours of the morning, with the last order at 3 pm. This bar on Soi Buakhao Pattaya is a favourite with locals, expats and tourists alike, so it is best to get there early, if you want a seat. Further along the street from Oasis is Club Blu, a popular Coyote Bar, which also has some stunning dancers. Devil’s Den, a short time bar, is just a short distance away on Soi LK Metro.
