Thailand's local currency is the Thai Baht. The best way to carry your money is in debit cards, withdrawing cash in local currencies from ATM machines. ATMs are found throughout Thailand and will generally accept cards on the Visa and Mastercard networks. It is a great idea to travel with both a Visa and Mastercard if at all possible in case of loss or problems with one card, you will have a back up. If you are bringing US Dollars, please make sure that the notes are new and in good condition. Notes older than 2003, or with any tears or blemishes may not be accepted. Be fussy with your bank when buying cash!

It is customary in Asia to tip service providers such as waiters, at approximately 10%, depending on the service.

Packing for Thailand

What you need to bring depends on the trip you have chosen and the countries or regions you are planning to visit. We suggest that you pack as lightly as possible as your are expected to carry your own luggage. As a rule we try not to have to walk more than 15-20 minutes with your bags which is why we recommend keeping the weight of your bags between 10-15kg/22-30lb. Suitcases are not recommended for G Adventures trips! Most travellers carry a backpack or rolling bag of small to medium size (no XXL ones please!) as they need to fit under the beds when travelling on sleeper trains. You will also need a day pack/bag to carry water, cameras and other electronics like iPods and mobile phones. If your trip involves overnights in homestays, villages or camping then you usually have the opportunity to rent sleeping bags if need be instead of bringing them with you.

Electricity and power supplies in Thailand

The entire country of Thailand runs on 220-volt currents and uses five types of electrical outlets — type A, B, C, F and O. Type A: mainly used in North and Central America, China and Japan. This socket only works with plug A. Type B: like type A but with an extra prong for grounding. This socket also works with plug A. Type C: also known as the standard "Euro" plug. This socket also works with plug E and plug F. Type F: also known as "Schuko". This socket also works with plug C and plug E. Type O: this type is unique to Thailand but it also works with plug C, plug E and plug F.

Your private guide will be waiting for you in the airport arrivals area. A comfortable vehicle (non-smoking) with an experienced driver will transfer you directly to your hotel. Your guide will help you to check in. The rest of this day is free for you to spend at your leisure.

A Palace and Temples, Ancient Canal Cruising Experience the morning chanting ritual at Wat Pho, which is one of the oldest temples in Bangkok. Take a tuk tuk ride via Pak Khlong Talat flower market to the Grand Palace. Continue with a long-tail boat ride along the ancient canals of Thonburi to get a flavor of the local life. Stop at the iconic Wat Arun, which was once the grand royal temple of King Rama II. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will cross the Chao Phraya River and be driven to Chinatown for a glance at Old Bangkok.

Visit Bridge over the River Kwai and Take a Historical Train Ride Located in downtown Kanchanaburi, Bridge over the River Kwai was built by prisoners of war during World War II, overseen by the Japanese. Board the train and take an hour's ride along the Death Railway over the River Kwai, traveling over the original wooden viaduct (Bridge over the River Kwai) that was constructed by the Allied POWs. Pass through magnificent scenery and spend a moment reflecting on those who were forced to give their lives in the process of bending this environment to man's will.

Get up late, have a leisurely breakfast, then take a private transfer to the airport and fly to Chiang Mai. Upon your arrival, your private tour guide and driver will welcome you in the airport and then transfer you to your selected hotel in Chiang Mai. Enjoy a free afternoon ' you may like to consider going to a spa or visiting the local market.

A Day Program at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary About one-hour drive away from Chiang Mai, located beside a Karen village in a densely forested mountainous region, Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is surrounded by a spectacular forest landscape. During a day program at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, you will get to know each of the remarkable elephants and gain a special understanding of their daily lives and behaviors. Learn how to make herbal medicine balls, feed the elephants, and then walk with the elephants to the river. Bathe and brush the elephants.

Amazing Temples in Chiang Mai In the morning, head out of Chiang Mai city for about 20 minutes to the famous Doi Suthep. Despite the stunning natural beauty, the main reason many visitors go to Doi Suthep Mountain is to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep . Built in 1382, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is one of the most holy Buddhist sites in Thailand. Many Thai people go on a pilgrimage there, especially during the Buddhist holidays. Later, return to downtown Chiang Mai and visit Wat Chedi Luang . It is one of the six most important temples in Chiang Mai. It attracts a lot of Thai people who worship there each year as it was once the home of the Emerald Buddha.

Learn How to Make Thai Dishes from a Local Family

In the afternoon, visit a local family' the host will welcome you and walk you through her organic vegetable garden to collect the different kinds of herbs and vegetables that will be used in the variety of Thai food that you will be preparing. You will learn how to make some of the best home-cooked dishes that you can easily cook for your family when you return home. During the class, in addition to cooking, you will also sample dishes from the north, northeast, and central regions of Thailand.

After a leisurely breakfast, take a private transfer to the airport and fly to Phuket. Upon your arrival at Phuket International Airport, take a private transfer to your beautiful hotel.

These two days are free for you to spend at leisure by the beach. You may consider taking a speedboat trip to the many nearby tropical paradises, including the famous Phi Phi Islands, or enjoy a serene cruise around the mystical Phang Nga Bay. All of these tours can be easily booked at your hotel.

Our guide lele is a wealth of information, Lele is very professional and very attentive to our needs. Lele is amazing. Lele got everything spot on. It probably helps that Guilin is a brilliant place to visit so Lele has great material to work with but that doesn't take anything away from how much Lele helped make it a great trip.

Our guide for Beijing was super knowledgeable and experienced and able to help us to achieve as much as we wanted within the time given. We had a fun time guided by him as he is also super humorous and you can see how he interacts with the vendors and people whom he comes by. Thank you for a very enjoyable time in Beijing and accommodating to all our needs!

Our China Highlight guide. Michael, was attentive, thoughtful and knowledgeable. He narrated many interesting historical events about Chengdu while touring around the city and having afternoon tea with us. He was thoughtful to provide us with snacks during long hikes at Leshan or walks around the city.

She was very flexible and added extra time when we needed it and we felt extremely well taken care of. She also chose the best restaurants for us,

Our tour guide Helen, was excellent, she was very kind, professional and passionate for her work and she also loves Pandas! She will take you to take the best panda photos and to know more about Chengdu city. Our tour was great, she took us to all our destinations always with the best spots: Temples, pagodas, famous streets, theaters, pandas...you name it! Everything was great.

He picked up our pre-booked boat/other excursions tickets so we were able to avoid all the long lines and chaos. He is knowledgeable of the places we visited, courteous, fun to travel with and well-versed in Chinese classics.

Tom is the guide that will take you to where no other guide will. We pushed for the experience and Tom and the team delivered more than what we could have ever asked for. His English speaking ability and his Chinese history knowledge is second to none.

L.a. mansion serena, venus williams bought their mother up for sale, serena & venus williams mansion they bought mom up for sale.

The L.A. area mansion Serena and Venus Williams purchased years ago for their mother is hitting the market ... TMZ has learned.

We're told the tennis superstars grabbed this Woodland Hills property for their mom/coach, Oracene Price , back in 2005 ... just as their careers were skyrocketing. Oracene lived in the mansion up until 2019, when it was reportedly sold for just under $2 million.

Now the property is going back on the market, and our real estate sources tell us it will be listed for $4,649,000 starting Friday.

The 7-bedroom abode is notably hidden away up a gated private drive ... where it is perched on a hill on a 1.4-acre lot. The estate's unparalleled views offer a sense of tranquility and serenity for whoever is able to cough up the Benjamins to make an offer.

The property boasts a massive tennis court, which is fitting given Oracene's daughters were winning Olympic medals, U.S. Opens and other prestigious trophies during her time residing there.

In fact, at the 2022 US Open, Serena famously credited her parents -- including Oracene's ex-husband Richard Williams -- for making her career possible.
