We had the same issue as the above poster at Sweet Orange but they at least sorted it so that we all had breafast together and all who arrived on the group flight together stayed together (initially this wasn't going to be the case but the Sweet Orange staff -owner? - sorted it.) Otherwise all camp sites were of a good/expected standard - in fact many had better facilities than I was expecting (western toilets!). There was a problem with the hotel in Windhoek though this appeared to be the hotel's fault not Sunways. We ended up staying in what seemed like separate parts to peoples' houses, though it was all perfectly fine.

The tour guides were very good, always professional, friendly and helpful. My friend has specific dietary requirements which they always did their best to meet. The food they cooked over a camp fire was fabulous - I ate better on the tour than I do at home!! However if you are not prepared to be flexible and muck in then don't go on this tour. I did not need to have any dealings with the people in charge so don't know what they're like.

There was a range of activities on offer and you had free time in some places to choose different things and go away from the group, though we always ate together in the evening even when not camping which the guides sorted for us.

All in all, I would recommend the company and the trip we did. Things always crop up on a trip like this (eg trying to cook food in a sandstorm, repairing punctures at the side of the road + getting fuel from a local farmer as the petrol stations had all run out) but it all adds to the memories if that's the kind of adventure you want..

I had a wonderful trip with Sunway Safaris in November 2010. I did the Scenic Route tour which is 11 nights camping and 6 nights accommodated. It was a beautiful tour; so varied and comprehensive. The scenery was spectacular. The highlights for me were mountainous Swaziland with mists curling over its rock strewn slopes and blesbok grazing peacefully, the lush green expanses of Zululand, the towering majesty of the Drakensberg, the vistas of Lesotho, and the glorious coastline along Chapman’s Peak Drive and Cape Point.

The tour guides were well organised and professional. The tour ran smoothly as a result of their tireless dedication. They worked hard setting up the camp, preparing meals, assisting clients, and conducting background organisation. Both guides were approachable and helpful, and they went over and above the call of duty of a number of occasions.

I researched 27 different tours across 10 companies for my South Africa trip and found that Sunway Safaris was the best value for money. The pricing was transparent with all accommodation, most meals and most activities included.

I was nervous about camping. I am not an avid camper but in the end I had nothing to worry about. The mattresses were perfectly comfortable, the tent was big enough and I was astounded at the quality of food that was prepared at camp by the tour guides.

I received very good support from Sunway Safaris on another matter during my trip. Prior to starting the tour my flight from Zimbabwe was delayed. I had no communication from the airline (British Airways) but I phoned Sunway and spoke with Bruce (one of the owners) so he could alert my hotel transfer in Joburg. He monitored the situation and kept me informed through SMS about the estimated departure times from Zimbabwe airport. Again, it was more than I got from the airline and he stayed in communication well into the evening.

Sunway Safaris delivered a good quality tour at very competitive pricing and they were lovely to deal with. I would definitely travel with them again.

I did the Rainbow Route cabin tour with Sunway back in June 2009 and it was wonderful. Even though there was only 3 clients the tour still went ahead!!

At the start of the tour Shaun (one of the owners) was at the starting hotel to give us a run down of the tour and what was expected of us, ie helping with meals etc and also informed us of any changes to the itinerary and how the tour worked. As this was my first trip overseas ever and I was travelling solo, it was a very welcome introduction to Africa. The guides work very hard and by the end of the 17days I was very sad to be losing my security blankets so to speak.

The accomdation was basic but did the trick, you're only sleeping in it, not speding your whole day there. And the food was excellent, I have no idea how they can cook so well over fires.

All in all it was a great trip! Can't wait to go back at the end of this year!!

has anyone traveled with Sunway to india,ie,golden triangle.i will be traveling on my own,but would prefer to be in a group.

I did the 14 day Sunway Safari's Wildside tour in July 2011. The guides were friendly and professional. The trucks and tents were in good order (the tents were almost new). The food was delicious and plentiful. We saw the Big 5 and an abundance of animals. The tour was varied, with a stay in the Okavango, a 3 hour walking tour, morning and night game drives and a boat ride. We helped prepare some meals and did dishes (which really took no time at all). The tour was good monetary value. I recommend this tour if you are looking for a low budget camping tour with a focus on animal viewing. Thanks to Wayne, The Inspector and Mwabi.

We have just returned from the 21-day Desert and Delta camping safari in Zambia, Namibia and Botswana. We had a FANTASTIC time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunway.

A camping safari is not always glamourous and some participation is required around camp e.g. dishes, packing truck - Sunway make this clear from the start and their expectations are very reasonable. All of the campsites were beautifully located. The tents were easy to put up/take down and the matresses were comfortable. Our guide cooked wonderful meals every day and we ate around the fire. Everyone's needs were catered for.

Our guides - Shandley and Henco - were fantastic. They had a great knowledge of the areas visited. They were responsible and professional at all times.

There were 10 of us in the group and we got on very well. It was a mix of nationalities - French, British, German, Austrian and Italian.

The truck was comfortable with plenty of storage space. Yes, we had a couple of flat tyres and got stuck in the sand during a game drive but this is Africa!

We are experienced travellers who have used other overlanding companies in the past. Camping safaris are ideal for those with a sense of adventure but the lodges used by Sunways looked lovely too. We are already flicking through the Sunways brochure to book our next trip!

Hi! We got home from the Zimbabwe-Botswana game trail a while ago, we have been traveling alot, but this was one of the best vacation we've ever had!

The guides had so much knowledge, they were pationt, very well organized and very kind!

We were camping in tents. We have never been out camping before, but it was a great experience and no problem at all!

All the things we saw were great!
