Muscat: The Indian Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman has shared a circular on the revised guidelines for international passengers travelling to India. As per the guidelines, travellers may seek exemption from institutional quarantine (IQ) by applying to the New Delhi Airport online supported by a RT-PCR report.

All travellers are also required to submit a self-declaration form on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.

Although a 14-day quarantine is mandatory on landing, which includes a 7 day institutional quarantine and a 7-day home quarantine, an exemption is possible from institutional quarantine, for emergency reasons. Only compelling reasons like distress, pregnancy, death in the family or serious illness are permitted in the ambit of emergency exemptions from institutional quarantine.

Final and binding

Permission for the same needs to be requested through the aforementioned portal, 72 hours prior to the date of journey, and a negative PCR test report taken not later than 96 hours before the proposed travel date should also be attached with the request. The decision taken by the Indian government and as communicated through the portal will be final and binding.

At the arrival airport, post the thermal screening, the passengers who have been exempted from institutional quarantine and have been informed by online portal in advance, must show the same to the respective counters, before being allowed proceed for home quarantine.

With Oman opening commercial airline operations from 1 October, many who have withheld air travelare preparing to proceed, deterred only by the quarantine rules back in India. Meanwhile the phase 7 flight schedule of Vande Bharat Mission has been released today by the Indian Embassy in Oman, with flights to various cities in India starting from 1 October.

Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements

COVID-19 Requirements: There are no COVID-related entry requirements for U.S. citizens.

Please visit the  Embassy of Oman website  for the most current visa information.

Requirements for Entry:

• Passport valid for at least six months

Tourist Visas: 

• U.S. citizens should apply for tourist visas in advance via the  Royal Oman Police E-Visa website . Tourist visas are also available upon arrival at airports and land crossings.
• Visas are issued at Mazoonah and Sarfait (Oman-Yemen land borders) on a case-by-case basis.
• The current list of visa types and a schedule of fees are available at the  Royal Oman Police website .
• Have proof of adequate funds and an onward/return ticket.

Penalties for expired passports or visas include fines and/or imprisonment.

Avoid Travel to Yemen:  We strongly advise U.S. citizens against travel to Yemen. Crossing the Yemen-Oman border can be dangerous, and U.S. citizens who do so are routinely detained by Omani authorities. The Department of State and U.S. embassies abroad will not facilitate entry of U.S. citizens into Yemen. Oman does not recognize dual nationality. Omani authorities may confiscate your U.S. passport if you have Oman/U.S. dual nationality. Should this happen, contact the U.S. Embassy. This does not constitute loss of U.S. citizenship.

Children of Omani fathers automatically acquire Omani citizenship at birth and must enter and exit Oman on their Omani passports.

Omani/U.S. dual nationals are subject to all Omani laws, including those placing special obligations on citizens of Oman.

Expect considerable delays if your U.S. passport is lost or stolen. The Royal Oman Police require entry verification upon departure. If your passport containing your entry stamp is lost or stolen, a police report may be required to exit Oman using a replacement passport. For further details, see the  Royal Oman Police website .

Yellow fever vaccinations are required if you are coming from a country with yellow fever outbreaks.

Some HIV/AIDS entry restrictions exist for visitors and foreign residents of Oman. HIV/AIDS testing is required upon arrival for people on work or immigrant visas. Oman does not accept U.S. HIV/AIDS testing. Verify this information with the  Embassy of Oman  before traveling.

Customs Regulations:

• Pornographic materials and firearms are prohibited.
• Muslim travelers are forbidden to bring in alcohol. Oman does not require visitors to identify with a religion.
• Non-Muslim travelers can bring in two bottles of alcohol bought at a duty-free shop.

Safety and Security

Terrorism:  Terrorist groups and those inspired by such organizations are intent on attacking U.S. citizens abroad.  Terrorists are increasingly using less sophisticated methods of attack – including knives, firearms, and vehicles – to more effectively target crowds.  Frequently, their aim is unprotected or vulnerable targets, such as: 

• High-profile public events (sporting contests, political rallies, demonstrations, holiday events, celebratory gatherings, etc.) 
• Hotels, clubs, and restaurants frequented by tourists 
• Places of worship 
• Schools 
• Parks 
• Shopping malls and markets 
• Public transportation systems (including subways, buses, trains, and scheduled commercial flights)

MARAD Report:  According to the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD), U.S. flag vessels in the Gulf of Oman, North Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Bab el Mandeb regions face an elevated risk of attacks by violent extremists.

Crime : There is minimal street crime in Oman, and violent crime is rare.

Victims of Crime:  U.S. citizen victims of sexual assault are encouraged to contact the U.S. Embassy for assistance. Report crimes to the local police at 9999.  Emergency hotlines are mostly Arabic-speaking.  The U.S. Embassy has received reports from U.S. citizens who were unable to receive assistance due to language barriers.  Contact the U.S. Embassy at +968 2464-3400.  Remember that local authorities are responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes.

• Help you find appropriate medical care
• Assist you in reporting a crime to the police
• Contact relatives or friends with your written consent
• Provide general information regarding the victim’s role during the local investigation and following its conclusion 
• Provide a list of local attorneys
• Provide information on  victim’s compensation programs in the United States
• Provide an emergency loan for repatriation to the United States and/or limited medical support in cases of destitution
• Help you find accommodation and arrange flights home
• Replace a stolen or lost passport

Domestic Violence:  U.S. citizen victims of domestic violence are encouraged to contact the U.S. Embassy for assistance.  The law in Oman does not specifically address domestic violence.  However, charges may be brought under other statutes.  Victims of domestic violence may file a complaint with the police, and reports indicate that police respond promptly and professionally.  The government operates a domestic violence hotline and a shelter for victims.

Tourism : The tourism industry is generally well-regulated and rules with regard to best practices and safety inspections are regularly enforced. Hazardous areas/activities are identified with appropriate signage, and professional staff is typically on hand in support of organized activities. In the event of an injury, appropriate medical treatment is widely available throughout the country. Outside of a major metropolitan center, it may take more time for first responders and medical professionals to stabilize a patient and provide life-saving assistance. U.S. citizens are encouraged to purchase medical evacuation insurance . 

Local Laws & Special Circumstances

Criminal Penalties:  You are subject to local laws. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned.  Individuals establishing a business or practicing a profession that requires additional permits or licensing should seek information from the competent local authorities, prior to practicing or operating a business.

Furthermore, some laws are also prosecutable in the U.S., regardless of local law. For examples, see our website on  crimes against minors abroad  and the  Department of Justice website.

Arrest Notification : If you are arrested or detained, ask police or prison officials to notify the U.S. Embassy immediately. Omani authorities typically do not permit foreigners accused of crimes to leave the country while cases are open.

Carry your passport at all times, or you could be detained.

It is illegal to photograph certain buildings.

Alcohol and Drugs:  You may be arrested for possession of alcohol or driving under the influence. Drinking is permitted in some international hotels, bars, homes, and some restaurants.

Penalties for possession, use, or trafficking in illegal drugs include lengthy jail sentences and heavy fines.  Some prescription medications, such as narcotics, available in the United States may be illegal in Oman.  Travelers should check the Oman Ministry of Health’s Medications and Travel webpage before importing prescription medications.

Motor Vehicle Violations:  Traffic laws are strictly enforced and carry heavy penalties. Remote traffic cameras are extensively used to monitor speeding and stop light infractions.

Immigration officials, airports and other ports of entry and exit have ready access to information on traffic offenses, and violators cannot depart Oman unless all fines have been paid in full.

Personal Defamation Charges:

• Using vulgar language or hand gestures can lead to personal defamation charges. 
• An accusation alone, regardless of who files it, can initiate a legal process.
• U.S. citizens can usually resolve these cases with a formal apology and payment of damages to the aggrieved party.

Cultural Heritage Items:  To avoid prosecution, check first with Omani authorities before taking “cultural heritage items” such as archaeological artifacts, meteorites, or stones. 

Notary Services:  All foreign public documents (Birth, Marriage, Death, Divorce, academic records, etc.) need to be apostilled for use in Oman. The U.S. Embassy in Oman cannot apostille any documents issued in the U.S. See  our website  for designated authorities in the United States. That can issue an apostille.

Employment in Oman:  Although a common practice, it is illegal for Omani employers to retain your passport. Such retention could grant undue leverage to your employer in case of a dispute. U.S. passports are the property of the U.S. government.

The U.S. Embassy cannot intervene in labor disputes. At the beginning of any employment, obtain a contract that clearly states the terms of employment. Try to resolve disputes privately with your employer. If this fails, consult our  list of lawyers .

Dress Code : Be sensitive to Islamic culture and do not wear sleeveless shirts, halter-tops, or shorts. Only wear athletic clothing in public when engaged in sports activities.

Currency : U.S. bills printed before 2006 are often not accepted. Local currency is easily available from ATMs or currency exchange counters.

LGBTQI+ Travelers:  Consensual same-sex sexual conduct is illegal and subject to a jail term of six months to three years. See our  LGBTQI+ Travel Information page  and section 6 of our  Human Rights report  for further details.

Travelers with Disabilities:  The law in Oman prohibits discrimination against persons with physical, intellectual, or mental disabilities   Expect accessibility to be limited in older buildings (including government buildings and schools), public transportation, and general infrastructure, and more common in newer medical facilities and public buildings in cities. Outside of urban areas, access is greatly reduced.  Handicapped parking spaces are scarce.

COVID-19 Testing:   For general PCR testing and exiting Oman, various health clinics in Oman offer PCR tests with results within 72 hours as well as 24-hour and 3–6-hour options.  PCR tests are at the expense of the individual/traveler.  Prices vary by clinic and range from 20 – 40 OMR; surcharges often apply for expedited result processing within 24 hours or less.  Drive up testing, walk-in tests, and tests by appointment are all available in Oman.  Test result delivery varies by clinic: e-mail, text, and physical message are commonly used to communicate results.

COVID-19 Vaccines:   The COVID-19 vaccine is available for U.S. citizens to receive in Oman. Please refer to the  Omani Ministry of Health  for additional information on vaccination registration.

For emergency services in Oman, dial 9999.  Emergency hotlines are mostly Arabic-speaking.  The U.S. Embassy has received reports from U.S. citizens who were unable to receive assistance due to language barriers.

Response times for ambulance services vary.  Injured or seriously ill travelers should take a taxi or private vehicle to the nearest major hospital rather than wait for an ambulance.

Modern medical facilities and Western-style pharmacies are available. Local medical treatment varies from average to inadequate, depending on location.

Hospital emergency treatment is available.

We do not pay medical bills.  Be aware that U.S. Medicare/Medicaid does not apply overseas.  Most hospitals and doctors overseas do not accept U.S. health insurance.

Medical Insurance:  Make sure your health insurance plan provides coverage overseas. Most care providers overseas only accept cash payments. See  our webpage  for more information on insurance overseas.  Visit the  U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  for more information on type of insurance you should consider before you travel overseas.

We strongly recommend supplemental insurance to cover medical evacuation.

Always carry your prescription medication in original packaging, along with your doctor’s prescription. Check with the Government of Oman to ensure the medication is legal in Oman.

Vaccinations : Be up-to-date on all  vaccinations  recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Travel and Transportation

Road Conditions:  Road conditions in cities and along major highways are good. Road conditions in rural areas range from good to poor. During rare instances of rain, roads are prone to flash flooding.

Travel between cities can be dangerous due to poor lighting, wandering livestock, and speeding drivers.

Public Transportation:  Public transportation is generally safe, although vehicles may swerve to pick up passengers without warning.

Traffic Violations:

The following traffic violations may result in jail sentences, fines, and/or deportation:

• driving without a license
• running a red light
• driving under the influence of alcohol
• failure to wear a seat belt
• talking on cell phones while driving (hands-free technology is allowed)
• excessive speeding or overtaking another vehicle
• failure to maintain a clean car

When involved in a traffic violation, cooperate with police officers and do not attempt to negotiate payment.

If you are involved in a traffic accident that involves injuries, death, or material damage to vehicles, do not move your vehicle until the police give you permission. Moving your car may be interpreted as an admission of guilt. For minor traffic accidents with no damage or injuries, you may move your vehicle to the side of the road.

Traffic Guidelines:

• Traffic circles are common. The driver already in the circle always has priority.
• Drivers flashing high beams are signaling that they want to pass.
• Do not turn right on a red traffic signal.

Driving License Requirements:

• Short-term visitors with a U.S. driver’s license may drive rental vehicles, but not privately registered cars.
• Residents must have an Omani driver's license.
• To obtain an Omani license, you must take a vision test and either have a U.S. license (with proof of being licensed for at least two years) or take a driving test.

Car Insurance:

• Insure rental cars against death, injury, and loss or damage.

Residents may insure their vehicles outside the Sultanate; however, third party liability insurance must be purchased locally.  For all traffic-related emergencies, call the Royal Oman Police at 9999. Have an Arabic speaker call when giving directions to a location, since English-speaking operators are not always available.

Aviation Safety Oversight:  As there is no direct commercial air service to the United States by carriers registered in Oman, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not assessed the Government of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority for compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aviation safety standards. Maritime Travel:  Mariners planning travel to Oman should also check for  U.S. maritime advisories and alerts . Information may also be posted to the U.S. Coast Guard homeport website  and the  NGA broadcast warnings .

Covid-19: India issues new travel guidelines

New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday issued a new list of regulations passengers need to follow while flying from other countries to India.

All Passengers must register themselves on Air Suvidha Portal after filling the Self Reporting form through the online portal, www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/aphoregistration at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.

It is mandatory for all passengers to complete e-submission of Self-Declaration Forms (SDF) through the online portal, www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration before check-in without fail.

• For seeking exemption from institutional quarantine, passengers must submit an Exemption Form through www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report at least 72 hours prior to boarding.
• Passengers traveling to Mumbai would be subjected to mandatory institutional quarantine at their own cost, in the nearby hotels for seven days.
• All Passengers transiting to onward domestic flights in India should hold a valid Negative COVID-19 test report for travel exemptions.
• All International passengers arriving in Karnataka from any Country shall have COVID negative certificate (issued within 72 hours from the time of departure), otherwise, they will be mandatorily subjected to RT-PCR test for COVID-19 at the port of entry.
• All Passengers travelling to Tamil Nadu must carry a valid Negative COVID-19 PCT test report, issued within 72 hours from the time of departure.
• All Passengers travelling to Tamil Nadu should carry auto-generated TN e-Pass (http://tnepass.tneag.org).
• All Passengers travelling to Kerala must register on the COVID-19 Jagratha Portal prior to commencement of journey through https://covid19jagratha.kerala.nic.in/.

Passengers flying to Nairobi, Kenya are required to vaccinate against Yellow Fever and Poliovirus, at least 4 weeks prior to departure, regardless of age and vaccination status. Ensure to present your vaccination certificates at the airport to avoid a 6-day quarantine period.

Effective 13th February 2023, 1100Hrs IST onwards for customers arriving from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Japan the prior requirement of pre departure COVID 19 testing and uploading of self health declaration on Air Suvidha stands withdrawn.

FAMILY VISIT VISA - Customers holding and travelling on Family Visit Visa entry is limited Kuwait Airways and Jazeera for inbound and outbound travel to/from State of Kuwait and will return the customer to his country in case of arrival on any other airline. Family visit visa is valid only for a month and customer hold only the paper visa with nothing else.

FAMILY RESIDENCE VISA - Customer holding Family residence visa for Kuwait are allowed to travel on 6e to KWI. Family residence visa is identifiable with customer holding paper visa valid for 3, PCC, Medical stamp on visa and visa stamp on passport.

For customers from Kuwait to India

For customers from India to Male

• Maldivian Nationals
• Special Visa Holders
• Business Visa Holders
• Foreign diplomats and their accompanying family members
• Crew of ships who arrive by air to sign on to a ship

The QR code to be made readily available for verification by immigration upon exit from Maldives Note: Maldivian Citizens will no longer be required to submit the “Online Traveller Declaration Form (The electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation card of the Maldives)” when arriving to and departing from Maldives by air.
• Customers travelling not for the purpose of tourism are required to be in possession of a valid visa issued by Maldives Immigration
• Customers travelling on work visa must verify their visa status on https://xpat.egov.mv/
• All Customers travelling for the purpose of tourism shall be issued visa on arrival
• Customers travelling for the purpose of tourism must have a confirmed reservation at a resort

• Customers must be in possession of valid return ticket

• Those who can obtain visa on arrival in Oman and those who don’t require a visa to travel to Oman
• Customers travelling to Oman are no longer required to carry a negative PCR certificate nor they are required to be in possession of final vaccination certificate that they have received two doses of any approved vaccine
• All passengers traveling to Oman are no longer required to hold a health insurance with COVID-19 coverage for at least one month from the date of their arrival to Oman
• Customers travelling to Oman are no longer required to register on http://travel.moh.gov.om

For customers from Muscat to India

For customers from India to Dhaka

• Bangladeshi Nationals
• Non Bangladeshi Nationals holding any type of valid and/or pre-approved visa
• Customers in possession of tourist visas shall be allowed to travel to Bangladesh
• All customers arriving into Bangladesh are required to fill a self-health declaration form and submit the same to the health authorities upon arrival
• All customers who are fully vaccinated with WHO approved vaccines (single/double dose as applicable for a full dose) are no longer required to be in possession of a pre-departure PCR while travelling to Bangladesh
• Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated customers must carry a negative PCR certificate in printed form, from a government-approved laboratory in India (ICMR) or a certified designated laboratory which is available on  https://www.icmr.gov.in/ issued no more than 72 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Dhaka. The certificate issued shall be duly signed and/or stamped by relevant authorities. 72 Hours is calculated from the time of sample collection
• The negative PCR certificate held by the customer must have a QR code on it linking it to their original test report and must have the date and time of sample collection and the test result mentioned accurately. Customers holding a negative PCR certificate without a QR code shall be denied boarded at the origin station

Note: The following are exempted from pre-departure covid test

• Children under the age of 12years
• The certificate must be available in printed form to submit to health authorities upon arrival and shall be in English only, handwritten certificates are not permitted
• All customers upon arrival shall be required to undergo mandatory 14 days home quarantine. However if any COVID-19 symptomatic passengers is observed/detected on arrival, he/she shall be sent to government authorized hospital for further formalities
• Seamen shall be allowed to travel provided they are in possession of all necessary documents such as passport, CDC booklet, Guarantee letter, Ok to Board Letter and sign on to the ship maximum within 72 hours of their arrival
• Foreign nationals of Bangladeshi descendant and their spouse & children;
• Foreign citizen holding Diplomatic & Official passport;
• Foreign Businessmen and Investors;
• Foreign citizens joining in meetings/seminars/conferences/any other event invited by the Government of Bangladesh
• Customers are no more required to fill an online health declaration form within 3 days of their departure and obtain a QR code. Click here to fill the health declaration
• All customers are mandatorily required to be in possession of the health declaration form along with QR code at the time of check-in in soft or printed format and shall be required to present the same to immigration upon arrival into Bangladesh

For customers from Dhaka to India

• With effect from 12 th February 23, all COVID 19 requirements are uplifted for travel to Singapore.
• It is mandatory for all customers travelling to Singapore to submit their SGAC within 3 days before arrival in Singapore via https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard
• A customer with no travel history in the last 7 consecutive days prior to their departure to Singapore, to any country classified under restricted category will not be required to serve SHN Notice upon entering Singapore, regardless of the customer’s vaccination status.
• A customer with travel history to a restricted country may be required to serve a SHN (Stay Home Notice) or undergo COVID 19 testing or both. NOTE : As of 9 February 2023, there are no countries/regions in the Restricted Category

• Saudi Citizens
• Non-Saudi Citizens (Resident (IQAMA Holder), Family Visit Visa, New Resident Visa, Business Visa, New Employment Visa, Umrah Visa) (Premium residency permit holders shall not be required to submit an exit/re-entry visa)

• All passengers holding HAYYA CARD issued by Qatar are allowed to enter the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
• The HAYYA card entitles the passenger a stay of total 60 days which is 10 days before the tournament, 27 days during the tournament and followed by 23 days after the end of the tournament period.
• The Visa is multi entry it can be used more than once, and pre entry the State of Qatar is not required.
• It is mandatory for all passengers holding HAYYA card to obtain medical insurance for the visa period of 60 days.

Recommended vaccination :

Pilgrims with health conditions are recommended to update their vaccination status against vaccine-preventable diseases. These include vaccination against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Varicella and Mumps.

• Effective from 1 st August, No COVID Protocols to be followed by customers travelling from India to Malaysia, customers to be accepted as per normal procedures.
• Customer travelling to Malaysia need to register online via Malaysia Digital Arrival Card website https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main?registerMain and submit. Pax can register the earliest 3 days before departure date and this MANDATORY for all tourists coming to Malaysia.

For customers from Malaysia to India

For Customers from India to Vietnam

• Vietnam is open to fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated customers. However, customers must comply with certain requirements detailed below
• Visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, or valid visa exemption certificate
• Effective 15 th  May, 2022 customers are no longer required to be in possession of negative Covid-19 test before travelling to Vietnam
• There are no quarantine measures on all incoming customers irrespective of their vaccination status. However, all customers must monitor their health within 10 days of arrival and notify health authorities immediately if they develop COVID19 symptoms
• If tested positive and placed under quarantine, customers will be required to download the contact tracing app PCCOVID and keep it active throughout the quarantine period
• Customers are no longer required to purchase Travel health insurance.

For customers from Vietnam to India

• Jakarta and Bali
• Passports must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the arrival date.
• Nationals of India can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 to 30 days. They can apply to extend their stay for an additional 30 days.
• Passports and passport replacing documents of all non-Indonesian nationals must contain at least 1 unused visa page for entry/departure endorsements by the immigration. This does not include the page reserved for "Observations" or "Amendments and Endorsements".
• Customers must hold return/onward tickets.

QR code is electronic Declaration form that must be filled in by the customers and crew using mobile phone before Custom clearance upon arrival in any international airport in Indonesia. This QR code banner is also available in baggage claim area in Indonesia.

After completing the electronic form, final QR code pops up on the screen/email which Customs will screen on their device prior exit.

General Guidance

• Considered as fully vaccinated, if taken two dose vaccine (Pfizer, Sinopharm, Moderna, AstraZeneca etc) or recommended combination of vaccine (e.g. Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) or if taken a single dose vaccines (e.g. Janssen etc.) and depart 14 days after obtaining the vaccine.
• Persons who had obtained a single dose of two dose vaccine prior or post COVID 19 infection during past 6 months period.
• COVID 19 vaccination (recommended doses) completed and
• Departure 14 days after completing recommended doses of vaccination for COVID 19.
• Do not require to produce upon arrival to Sri Lanka
• It is strongly recommended to have the vaccination certificate with the traveller during the stay in Sri Lanka to produce to the Medical personnel when and if required.
• Pre departure testing for COVID 19 is not required.
• If a traveller shows COVID 19 like symptoms and signs, you may subjected for PCR/RA testing by an authorized Medical personnel.
• Hospitalization Insurance Cover is no longer required.
• If Foreign Nationals/tourists become COVID 19 positive after arriving to Sri Lanka, they should isolate for 7 days in a private hospital/hotel/place of residence. The cost of treatment/isolation should be borne by foreign nationals/tourists.

For customers from Colombo to India

• Thermal screening shall be done for all the customers by the health officials present at the point of entry
• Customers found to be symptomatic during screening shall be immediately isolated, taken to a designated medical facility as per health protocol
• With effect from 20 July, the earlier requirements for RT-PCR-based testing of a random 2% subset of international travelers to India, stand withdrawn
• All travellers should self-monitor their health post arrival also shall report to their nearest health facility or call National helpline number (1075)/State helpline number in case they have any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19.

• All Foreign nationals intending to visit India for tourism purpose will be allowed to enter into India on e-Tourist/ Tourist Visa through chartered flight (for Group tourism only) from 15 th October, 2021
• All Individual foreign nationals intending to visit India for tourism purposes will be allowed to enter into India on e-Tourist visa/Tourist Visa with effect from 15 th November, 2021
• This tourist Visa facility would be applicable only to Tourist Visa/e-Tourist Visa issued on or after 06 th October, 2021
• e-Tourist Visa under the three options (one month, one year) and five years provided in para 2.5 (i) of the Visa Manual 2019, which remained suspended since March 2020, shall stand restored to nationals of 156 countries as indicated in Annex. I to this Ministry's O.M. of even number dated 30.03.2021 with immediate effect. Nationals of these 156 countries will also be eligible for issuance of fresh e-Tourist visa as per Para 2.5(i) of the Visa Manual, 2019
• Regular (Paper) valid Tourist visa issued to foreign nationals of all countries which remained suspended since March 2020 shall stand restored except for nationals of China. Fresh Regular (paper) Tourist Visa are also allowed to be issued by the Indian Missions/posts abroad to all foreign nationals (except for nationals of China) as per provisions contained in Chapter 10 of the Visa manual 2019
• Old valid Long duration (10 years) Regular Tourist Visa shall stand restored only for the nationals of USA and Japan. Fresh Long duration 10 year Tourist Visa can also be issued to the nationals of USA and Japan. Canadian nationals will be eligible for fresh Regular Tourist Visa except 10year long duration Tourist Visa. Long duration Regular Tourist Visa issued to Canadian nationals before March 2020 will continue to remain suspended and they would not be eligible for fresh Long duration visa of 10years validity
• The foreign nationals on Tourist /e-Tourist Visas would be permitted to enter India only through designated Sea Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) or Airport ICPs by flights, including those under the Vande Bharat Mission or 'air bubble' scheme or by any flights as allowed by the DGCA or Ministry of Civil Aviation. In no case the foreign nationals will be allowed to enter through Land border or riverine routes on Tourist Visa/e-Tourist Visa. Order for opening of Land ICPs and riverine routes will be communicated separately
• Medical visas must be issued after 21 st October, 2020
• Tourist Visa/ e-Tourist Visa of foreign nationals have to be utilised within 120 days from the date of issue of such visa/ETA
• Fresh Tourist Visa/e-Tourist Visa will remain valid for single entry for up to 30 days from the date of entry
• Customers with Person of India (PIO) card or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card or booklet are exempted from visa requirements
• a passport with at least 2 unused visa pages, and
• a printed confirmation of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) with status 'Granted'
• Passengers with a Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Card must change their PIO status to Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status before 31 December 2022. Effective from 1 January 2023, passengers with a Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Card will not be allowed to enter

In order to avail such tax exemption/reduction, passengers must declare their correct nationality at the time of booking. In case citizens of Nepal or Maldives intend to travel with any foreign nationals, such citizen (passenger) are requested to kindly book tickets for accompanying foreign national (passengers) in a separate PNR/ticket. Once selected, the nationality cannot be changed at any point during the booking process.
