The best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean

By Annabelle Spranklen

The best allinclusive resorts in the Caribbean 2024

Here’s the thing: all-inclusive holidays have never been so in demand, with more and more of us seeking a slick and smart hotel that doesn’t make us feel too frugal to order one more piña colada. For those wanting some winter sun, nothing beats a far-flung Caribbean getaway , and there’s a new breed of hotspots, where empty beaches, sweeping suites and chic hangouts await, washed down with unlimited just-caught lobster and as much house champagne as you can quaff. Forget queues for the tepid buffet and naff entertainment, from Antigua to St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia to Jamaica , these are the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.

Jumby Bay, Antigua

Zip in seven minutes by boat from the mainland and you’ve tumbled into a quiet world of warm trade winds and water so clear you can see starfish nudging around at the bottom. Undoubtedly one of the most luxurious all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Jumby Bay is a 300-acre private island that lures the well-heeled who want their paradise washed down with slick service and sand so powdery it’s sieved daily. The new Ocean view suites with pools and more rooms are fab for families - crisp and fresh, the pinnacle of seaside living in a Nantucket-meets-Provence style. Sweet staff appear with fruit kebabs and a scoop of mango sorbet when you least expect but most need it; and not only remember your name but how many ice cubes you take in your vodka tonic. Everyone is on the all-inclusive plan here so there’s a relaxed feeling to the place. You can do whatever you want (waterskiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and snorkelling excursions) wherever you fancy, eat in all the restaurants and drink as much champagne as you desire. Once bitten, you just can’t keep away.

Address: Jumby Bay Island, Antigua, West Indies Price: From £1,756 per night for two adults, on an all-inclusive basis.

Spice Island Beach Resort, Grenada

Perched on the quieter, southern end of Grand Anse beach, Spice Island Beach Resort has a reputation for being old-school perfect. Yes, effortless easy-breeze sharm is a Grenadian thing, but it’s mainlined here. King Charles and Queen Camilla once stayed (in the insanely private Cinnamon suite) and we can see why. It feels deliciously tranquil, all sitting-under-a-palm-tree-sipping-a-rum-punch perfect. You’ll want one of the Seagrape Beach suites, a shell’s throw from the shallow, bath-warm waters with its own hammock ready to lull you into the best nap of your life. Despite being one of the original island hotspots, this place still feels fresh. There’s a gorgeous spa, new rooms with plunge pools and a brilliant kids’ club so you can wolf down your grilled snapper in peace. The all-inclusive package here includes all meals (even afternoon tea) and drinks, as well as non-powered water sports, tennis and bicycles to pedal your way around the local area, with some of the island's best shopping just a hop, skip and jump away.

Address: Grand Anse Beach, The Lime, Grenada Price: From £823 per night for two adults, on an all-inclusive basis.

Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

There’s nothing quite the sheer indulgence of lying on a floating sunbed, in a private infinity pool, playing a game of Eye Spy the superyachts, as you’re handed yet another glass of champagne you didn’t order while helping yourself to the sushi boat that’s drifted towards you. Welcome to Necker Island, Richard Branson’s private island utopia in the British Virgin Islands, where Veuve Clicquot is as forthcoming as the Caribbean sunshine. While it’s usually exclusively hired for groups of up to 48, there’s a scattering of weeks during the year where individual stays are allowed - you just have to be quick enough to nab them. Coming here is pure, unmitigated fantasy - sand so bright it glows, every water sport imaginable, giant tortoises and flamingos that roam around like they own the place, with an A-team of staff that will organise anything from beach Olympics to celebratory dinners under the moonlit sky. Rates include all meals and drinks, so you don’t have to worry about a whacking great bill at checkout - instead, you’ll be wallowing in sorrow that you’re leaving.

Address: Necker Island, British Virgin Islands Price: Rates from £105,552 per night for up to 48 guests booking the island exclusively, or from £4,240 per night for two adults during an Individual Stay week, on an all-inclusive basis.

Curtain Bluff, Antigua

In a country alive with resorts, Curtain Bluff has pedigree - and it knows it. You’re both looked after and left alone in all the right measures, in a cocoon of lush green gardens, pristine beaches and G&Ts just the way you like them. This glamorous all-inclusive Caribbean bolthole has just undergone a slick refurbishment, with chic new pool suites and refreshed junior suites, with pretty wicker seats and enormous bathtubs and no TV, helping you to truly switch off. Days whirl by in a daze; snorkelling in the turquoise waters, with rainbow fish bustling around you like confetti, slipping by the dreamy spa for an alfresco massage, the sound of the lapping waves serenading you to unexpectedly conk out, frozen margaritas at the Bay Beach bar and the freshest, just-caught fish and barbecued specials at the sand-in-the-toes Sea Grape restaurant. All while the kids’ brush up on their drop volleys, top-spin lobs, and cross-court backhand winners at the complimentary kids' tennis clinic. The all-inclusive rate here includes all meals and drinks, sports and leisure activities such as water skiing, tubing, Hobie Cat sailing and daily yoga.

Address: Morris Bay St. Mary's Parish Old Road, Antigua & Barbuda Rates: From £580 per night, based on double occupancy, on an all-inclusive basis.

Cap Maison Resort & Spa, St Lucia

There’s a Spanish feel to St Lucia’s Cap Maison, with its eye-catching Hispanic tilework and terracotta urns, and meticulously tended lush gardens, you can’t help but feel a million miles away from the humdrum of city life. This former sugar plantation takes hold on a cliff like a small orderly village, its cluster of three-storey white buildings giving off the impression this is more a private residence than resort. And that’s the pull. Rooms are kitted out with local paintings and oversized chaise longues, with balconies. shutters and painted ceramic sinks in the bathrooms, some with their own dinky pools. With only 50 suites, there’s a quiet luxury to the place but still plenty to keep you occupied with watersports, snorkelling trips and daily hikes to the secluded East Coast on offer, as well as jaunts on the hotel’s shiny motor yacht. Don’t miss a chance to take drinks on Rock Maison, a wooden deck on a rocky outcrop at the base of the cliffs, where champagne arrives in a basket on a zip-wire. Meals and drinks by the glass are included on the all-inclusive rates (some fine dining options incur an additional cost) but if you fancy venturing out, staff will sort you a car and a driver in just a jiffy.

Address: Building 1, Smuggler's Cove, St Lucia Rates: From £444 per night, based on double occupancy, on an all-inclusive basis.

Jamaica Inn, Jamaica

Coming to Jamaica Inn feels like staying with a warm but grand auntie. Staff, who do nothing but beam whenever you ask for anything, genuinely want you to have a brilliant time and go out of their way to welcome you with open arms. Since opening in 1950, this hotel quickly earned a reputation as being one of the most understatedly elegant and discreet hotels on the island, attracting movie stars like Marilyn Monroe and Katharine Hepburn when they wanted to hole away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Today, there’s a low-key glamour to the hotel, with a sweeping private beach and just 52 suites, all colonial-style with no TVs or radios, just epic sea views, it feels deliciously intimate. Cottages have private plunge pools, large veradands and secluded showers, ideal for romantic souls, and there’s a soothing spa built into the cliffs at Cutlass Bay, with treatments drawn from plants on the island. While it’s not a strictly all-inclusive here, there is a package which includes meals and drinks by the glass (with an additional cost for spirits and wines by the bottle). Don’t miss a dinner at the open-air dining room set under a canopy of palms, where Caribbean classics are washed down with candyfloss skies.

Address: Main Street, Ocho Rios, Jamaica Rates: From £426 per night, based on double occupancy, on an all-inclusive basis.

Sandals Royal Curaçao, Willemstad

Desert-meets-tropical-island, where succulents flourish like daisies in spring, and prickly cacti forests line the local roads into the capital of Willemstad. Surrounded by some of the most exquisite and unique landscapes within a 3,000-acre exclusive estate, Sandals Royal Curaçao is laden with pastel-coloured buildings, grand stone hallways with white regal archways. This place forges all-inclusive luxury experiences that embrace the local community and heritage of Curaçao. Think: all-inclusive on acid, with a genie-like butler-service (in select suites) use of a convertible Mini to go out exploring and a mammoth selection of land and water sports, not to mention 11 brilliant dining options - from a Dutch-inspired coffee house, to beachside food trucks offering everything from traditional Curacao food to Spanish tapas and Asian curries, and Gatsu Gatsu, the waterside go-to for champagne lobster rolls and sushi. You’ll love the new Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows, light and wafty, with swim-up balconies, private patios and a tub big enough for two. This place really does have everything.

Address: Santa Barbara Estate, Porta Blancu, Willemstad, Curaçao Rates: From £2,549 per person for seven nights, on an all-inclusive basis.

Petit St. Vincent, St Vincent and the Grenadines

A private island of densely forested hills and coral-sand beaches, where the emptiness makes it feel like unclaimed wilderness. This is where the wild things are, no cars, barely any people, just jungle giving way to beaches (Caribbean and Atlantic) and the horizon beyond. No sound but birdsong, the wind in the trees and the roar of the Atlantic. You feel as if its yours and yours alone, hardly surprising given there are just 22 one and two-bedroom cottages and villas, built from hand-quarried native volcanic stone, with creamy walls and Italian linens, wooden sun decks and loungers, a place to drift off after a sun-drenched morning splashing about in the water or finding solace at the hillside spa. Guests pay a food and beverage surcharge which covers all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, including cooked-to-order specialities and unlimited hand-caught lobster (between November and April), plus afternoon tea and weekly BBQ dinners, not to mention watersports and extra activities such as rum tasting and yoga  classes. This is a place to retreat to when you’re done being around others,a place where time really does seem to slow.

Address: Petit Saint Vincent, St Vincent and the Grenadines Rates: From £1,180 per night based on double occupancy plus £235 per night surcharge for food and beverage.

Warm weather, serene waters, white sandy beaches—what doesn’t the Caribbean offer? If you’re looking for your next getaway, look no further than the Caribbean. By staying at an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, you can enjoy some of life’s simplest pleasures, whether it be tanning on the beach, snorkeling with marine life, or enjoying a new culture. Take a look at some of the best resorts in the Caribbean below.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Jade Mountain Resort

Soufriere, soufriere quarter, st. lucia.

Looking out over the iconic Pitons in St. Lucia , the Jade Mountain Resort is a far cry from some of the all-inclusive mega-resorts found elsewhere in the Caribbean. It also happens to be one of our favorite boutique all-inclusive in the world . At Jade Mountain, you'll find only 29 suites (dubbed “sanctuaries”) — all with open walls and incredible sea views . Twenty-four of those sanctuaries feature an infinity pool, and the remaining suites include a large bathtub that can accommodate two people.

Highlights of this adults-only resort include escorted walking and hiking tours, water sports, including windsurfing and sunfish sailing, and access to activities and facilities offered at its nearby sister property, Anse Chastanet . The open-plan restaurant offers a wide range of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The resort also has an optional all-inclusive package that covers meals and drinks.

Jade Mountain Resort is one of the most romantic, splurge-worthy resorts in the Caribbean — and the entire world — and is easily one of the most peaceful escapes you can book.

Le Sivory Punta Cana By PortBlue Boutique

Uvero alto, punta cana, dominican republic.

Situated on a quiet, remote beach, Le Sivory Punta Cana by PortBlue Boutique is an adults-only all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean with a laid-back, peaceful vibe. Le Sivory Punta Cana is popular with couples seeking quiet and romance, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and casual, with lush grounds and plenty of outdoor seating.

The 55 spacious rooms are gorgeous, and many include outdoor whirlpool tubs or their own private pools. In your suite, you’ll find free Wi-Fi, docks for electronic devices, and flat-screen TVs.  The all-inclusive package covers meals and drinks at all four restaurants, free wine in your suite, 24-hour room service, and complimentary use of non-motorized water sports. You also won’t have to worry about taxes or service fees since they’re included in your all-inclusive package.

You'll also find a lovely stretch of secluded beach that makes unwinding in the lap of luxury easy to achieve. For even more relaxation, make sure to take advantage of the wellness therapies available, which include services like deep massages and lymphatic drainage treatments.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Round Hill Hotel and Villas

Hopewell, montego bay, jamaica.

Situated in a secluded area outside of Montego Bay , Round Hill Hotel and Villas is a quiet, country club-style property set on 110 acres of former pineapple plantations. Ralph Lauren is on the board of directors and designed all of the rooms himself, so this resort is one of the more stylish Caribbean hotels .  You can expect a classic tropical vibe in all 36 guestrooms and 27 private villas— all of which look out over the sea.

Amenities and activities at Round Hill Hotel and Villas include a cliffside infinity pool , a lovely outdoor spa surrounded by tropical greenery, resort tours, watersports, ziplining, river rafting, and more. Plus, the resort offers plenty of family-friendly activities.

The Round Hill Villas all-inclusive package is optional but well worth the prices, as it covers all meals and drinks, room service, airport transfers, a welcome bottle of bubbly, and even a rafting trip.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Excellence Oyster Bay

Falmouth, jamaica.

Excellence Oyster Bay is a sleek, adults-only all-inclusive resort well east of rowdy Montego Bay, Jamaica , and 30 minutes away from the International airport. While it’s a far cry from a party hotel, there’s still plenty of entertainment along with a generous all-inclusive package that includes premium drinks, lobster, and top-shelf liquor. The vibe is upbeat without being unruly.

The lovely main pool is surrounded by plenty of loungers, and the white-sand beach is a beauty, running almost the entire length of the property. With five swimming pools—two exclusive Excellence Club pools, two beachfront pools, and a rooftop pool with a sky bar— and four jacuzzis, there’s plenty of ways to get your swim on.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to stay active while on your trip, you can also go paddle boarding, deep-sea fishing, and scuba diving. You’re also welcome to try yoga classes, take a few dance lessons, play beach volleyball, or take a shot at air rifle shooting.

Travelers who book Junior Suite Ocean Front units can stare right at sea from their own private balconies. Other Excellence Oyster Bay rooms to keep in mind include the Junior Suite with Private Pool (which, as the name suggests, offers its own private pool) and Excellence Club rooms, which come with upgraded amenities and access to 24-hour room service, private facilities, beach areas, a separate pool, and two exclusive restaurants.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa

Punta cana, dominican republic.

Stretching out over a beautiful white-sand beach just north of Punta Cana , Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa is a luxury all-inclusive resort that's packed with all sorts of amenities for guests of all ages, including couples, families, and children.

With over 730 rooms, the atmosphere can feel busy. However, with numerous restaurants available, pools, and kid-friendly spaces — including a water park and a 9-hole mini-golf course — there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out.

There are a variety of places to swim all around the Royalton Bavaro, from a fine-sand beach with free non-motorized water sports and a range of pools, including a huge lazy river. If you’re traveling with young kids ages four to 12, they can hang out at the Clubhouse Kids Club to watch cartoons and color. There’s also a club for teens at the resort for those 13 to 17 years old. At the Hangout Teens Club, teens can play video games and have access to free Wi-Fi.

Dining options include nine restaurants seven (which range from a la carte eateries and buffet-style venues), eight bars, and round-the-clock room service. Guests of the higher-end Diamond Club portion of the resort get access to an exclusive beachfront restaurant, pool area, and premium alcohol.

Rooms are elegant and great for a getaway, plus they’re full of lots of natural light, and many come with sea views. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, an in-suite jacuzzi, charging stations, stocked mini-bars, and more.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Excellence El Carmen

The Excellence El Carmen -- sister property of the Excellence Punta Cana -- is a luxury adults-only resort that has amazing suites, including top-floor options with private rooftop terraces and plunge pools. The Imperial Suite, in particular, scores you luxurious upgrades, though Excellence Club upgrades are also worth the splurge. These include private lounge and restaurant areas, plus rooms that are even sharper than the rest.

The vibe at the resort is young and hip, but the Uvero Alto location in Punta Cana is more relaxed than the more central parts of this strip.

Rates for all guests include meals at 13 eateries (including a taco truck, French fine dining, and fresh juice bar), plus 24-hour room service and access to activities like snorkeling, yoga, and archery. Extra charges apply at the full-service spa, but the ultra-luxe guided thermal suite experience is free, and there are also free personal training sessions at the gym.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

Arguably Jamaica's most romantic escape, the upscale, adult-only The Caves has a bohemian vibe and 12 private cottages and suites along lush garden paths and dramatic seaside cliffs . Cottages feature several amenities, including complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini-bar well-stocked with snacks and drinks, plush bathrobes, air conditioning, mosquito nets, outdoor showers, and more.

For the remainder of their stay, guests are free to indulge in one of Jamaica’s best all-inclusive liquor selections. Dining is also included in the Caves' room rates; while offerings are limited given the hotel’s small-scale, guests consistently rave about the quality of meals.

Local, seasonal ingredients dominate the creative menu, which can be enjoyed in a breezy gazebo during breakfast and lunch, in the cliffside restaurant for dinner, or -- for no extra cost -- by candlelight in a private cave (five courses; reservations required). It's one of the most popular resorts in the Negril area, and it’s worth every penny for travelers seeking a romantic escape.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Spice Island Beach Resort

Grand anse, saint george parish, grenada.

This elegant family-owned resort in Grenada more than fulfills its promise to be “a place of unpretentious luxury.” In fact, it’s the only resort in Grenada to receive an AAA Five Diamond Award.

At Spice Island Beach Resort , you'll find effortlessly chic decor, immaculately kept grounds spanning eight acres, and 64 posh suites dotting a quarter-mile of beachfront. Many of these suites also have their own private pool , which only elevates the exclusive vibe. Amenities you find in your room include a balcony or patio, LCD TV, safe, ceiling fan, espresso machine, and more. Spice Island Resort’s all-inclusive rates include all-day dining at two restaurants (Oliver’s Restaurant and Sea and Surf Terrace & Bar, which is only open for lunch), fully stocked mini-bars, premium drinks (bottles of wine are extra), free Wi-Fi, complimentary access to the fitness center, and activities such as golf, tennis, sailing, and kayaking.

Entertainment is provided a few nights a week. There’s also a children’s activity center that’s open daily for kids ages three to 12 that allows guests to have some alone time for themselves.  The nice pool area is quiet and private, which is perfect if you want to avoid the beach that’s shared by locals and guests of nearby resorts.

If you’re looking to unwind, Spice Island Beach Resort also has an award-winning spa with a relaxation lounge, outdoor showers, and sauna. Services you can receive include couple’s massages, facials, and manicures.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado

Cayo levantado, dominican republic.

Situated in the middle of Samana Bay, Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado is a one-of-a-kind, all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic . It also happens to be one of the only private islands in the country, requiring a ferry ride from the mainland to reach. That means private beaches that are less crowded than those elsewhere in the Dominican Republic, so this is one of the best Caribbean islands for couples .

With 268 rooms available in five different styles, it’s easy to find the perfect suite for your tropical getaway. Rooms are spacious and have a classic look featuring air conditioning for warm summer months, a mini-bar, a hydromassage bathtub, and so much more. If you’re looking for ultimate luxury, the Beach Villa has a private terrace with beach access.

In addition to admission to exclusive beaches, there are also two pools, six restaurants (ranging from formal sit-down eateries to causal seaside locations), and four bars. With your all-inclusive rate, you’ll be able to take advantage of these gastronomic establishments, plus enjoy express check-out, 24-hour room service, non-motorized water sports, daily snorkeling, and dance lessons--just to name a few.

The Bahia Spa is also a hit with previous guests, and activities on-site are numerous.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Zoetry Agua Punta Cana

Overlooking an uncrowded stretch of private beach, Zoetry Agua Punta Cana is a luxurious all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean that’s best suited to couples looking for quiet relaxation. You won't find the party scene typical of Punta Cana's all-inclusive resorts here. The spacious Zoetry Punta Cana rooms feature local artwork, plush four-poster beds, and private balconies--some rooms offer fantastic ocean views. Generous all-inclusive packages include top-shelf liquor, 24-hour room service, and a la carte dining across four restaurants, along with a number of other perks. We particularly like the free yoga classes and horseback riding. The Zoetry Agua Punta Cana spa is striking, with a free-to-use indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy circuit and treatments ranging from couples’ massages to body wraps (the latter do come with fees or can be added on as packages).

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Rose hall, montego bay, jamaica.

As one of the best Caribbean resorts situated on the sprawling Iberostar resort complex in Rose Hall , the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall offers large, stylish rooms with elegant furnishings, hardwood floors, cathedral ceilings, and massive tubs.

However, it’s the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall all-inclusive packages that really make this spot stand out. The Iberostar Grand Rose Hall all-inclusive package gives you access to top-shelf liquor, gourmet dining options, daily sparkling wine and fresh fruit, and 24-hour in-room dining services.

Along with access to a la carte and buffet restaurants, you’ll also be able to take advantage of certain amenities and experiences, including complimentary laundry services, 45 minutes of horseback riding, afternoon tea time, and non-motorized water sports, which include snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. You’ll also be able to tee-off at Cocotal Gold & Country, La Cana Golf Course, Punta Espada Golf Course, and Punta Blanca Gold Course.

Not only do guests get access to all of the facilities at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, but they can also head to the other two Iberostar resorts next door to dine, swim, or hang out.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

Bavaro, punta cana, dominican republic.

The Majestic Colonial Punta Cana is one of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. You'll find a generous all-inclusive plan here that's available at relatively reasonable rates when stacked up against the regional competition. The resort is split into a family-friendly side and an adults-only Colonial Club side, though keep in mind that the latter can get a little wild. There are twice-weekly foam parties, after all.

The 658 suites are attractive, with marble floors, jetted tubs, and ocean views in some. You’ll also find seven restaurants that often get high marks and range from buffets, open-air restaurants, great sushi spots, and late-night snack bars. A massive lazy river-style pool forms in the core of the resort, and there are always available sun loungers here.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Cocobay Resort

Bolans, saint mary's, antigua.

Antigua's Cocobay Resort is all about charm and authenticity. It exemplifies a relaxed, low-key Caribbean vibe while maintaining a super-cool, even hipster edge -- with breezy rooms, a specialty cocktail list, and young and trendy clientele.

Situated on a bluff overlooking the sea, this all-inclusive boutique resort features 65  separate cottages -- the best of which have private plunge pools . The all-inclusive package covers food and drinks in the two high-quality restaurants and three bars, including a specialty cocktail list and tea service every afternoon.

Guests also receive access to non-motorized water sports at one of the three white-sand beaches below the property. You can even enjoy gourmet meals as you lounge in the pool with floating pool dining options. If you need even more ways to unwind, Cocobay has a gorgeous spa with open-air treatment rooms.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

Sanctuary Cap Cana

7 All-Inclusive Resorts In The Caribbean For Your Next Girls Trip

A warm-weather escape is always a good idea — as is a girl’s trip. While planning a group getaway can be overwhelming, booking an all-inclusive resort can help alleviate some of the stress since everything — accommodations, food and drink, and activities — is folded into one flat rate. Fortunately, for those craving a beach vacation, the Caribbean is home to some truly incredible all-inclusive resorts, complete with white-sand beaches and clear-blue waters you almost have to see to believe.

From wellness-centric stays to splurge-worthy private islands , we’ve rounded up some of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean for your next girl’s trip: travel advisor recommendations, Travel + Leisure editor picks, and World’s Best Award winners included.

Margie Hand is a T+L A-list travel advisor with nearly 25 years of experience planning Caribbean vacations.

The best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean for a girls’ trip

Breathless montego bay resort & spa, jamaica.

caribbean all inclusive resorts

According to T+L A-list travel advisor and Caribbean specialist Margie Hand, Breathless Resorts are “popular for a fun and active girlfriend getaway or bachelorette bash” since they “offer invigorating entertainment, music, first-class spa treatments, great food and cocktails, and more.” While the brand has a handful of properties throughout the Caribbean, we’d be remiss not to highlight the Montego Bay location , which boasts an idyllic locale along a prime stretch of sand.

Kick your mornings off with a group yoga session before heading to one of the three sparkling swimming pools for lounging (don’t miss the stunning rooftop pool and bar area, where you can all sip cocktails and snap Instagram photos in style). Alternatively, grab the girls and go kayaking, paddle boarding, or snorkelling. Plus, pool parties, live music, an on-site nightclub, and 11 bars and restaurants only add to the buzzy atmosphere. Oh, and did we mention the all-suite accommodations, complete with al fresco hot tubs?

Bodyholiday, st. lucia.

BodyHoliday

Those craving a relaxing and refreshing experience need not look further than this all-inclusive resort in St. Lucia, says Hand. What’s more, BodyHoliday attracts fitness-loving, wellness-seeking travellers with its award-winning Wellness Centre, which features Ayurvedic-inspired spa services, a thalassotherapy pool, an infrared sauna, nourishing treatments (lime and ginger body scrubs and aloe body wraps, anyone?), yoga, tai chi, and meditation.

In addition to sailing and scuba diving excursions, your squad can also partake in group fitness classes — though simply lounging out on the beach is recommended, too. Other highlights include farm-to-table fare (think: fresh herbs and veggies from the on-site gardens and locally caught fish) and beachy-chic rooms and suites (including multi-bedroom villas).

Curtain Bluff, Antigua

caribbean all inclusive resorts

“ Curtain Bluff in Antigua is an intimate resort that offers rejuvenating spa treatments, numerous watersports, and effortless luxury,” says Hand. While not adults-only, the 2022 World’s Best Award-winning property is popular among groups of friends seeking a relaxing reprieve from everyday life complete with a side of adventure (think: twice-daily snorkelling trips, waterskiing, windsurfing, and more).

Back on land, the group can bask in the sun by the beach or pool, play tennis , or unwind with some yoga. The 5,000-square-foot seaside spa — which offers stunning views of surrounding islands like Montserrat, St. Kitts, and Nevis — is well worth the splurge, if not for a soak in the cliffside tub alone. Tropical-inspired rooms and suites feature private balconies and terraces.

Outside of their suites, groups can make themselves right at home on the beach or by one of six pools, hit the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit, or play a round of beach volleyball. Plus, they need not travel too far for an epic GNO: On-site offerings include theme and cocktail parties plus 11 bars and restaurants.

At this all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, girlfriends of all ages can enjoy unspoiled stretches of white-sand beaches, partake in activities like yoga or hiking , hang out by the infinity pool, zip around on pastel-hued Mokes, indulge in bespoke spa treatments, and take advantage of non-motorised-water-sports-like-kayaks-and-paddle boards. Animal lovers can visit Redemption Ranch, which offers everything from zebra encounters to horseback riding, while foodies can indulge in healthful, chef-crafted cuisine sans refined sugars, preservatives, and food colourings.

Retreat to one of the 17 distinctively designed rooms and villas, each with inspirational names like Joy, Dream, and Wisdom. “This isn’t your average all-inclusive resort,” said T+L editor Elizabeth Rhodes of her June 2023 trip. “From the delicious, wholesome meals to wellness-forward experiences, this is a gorgeous property that’s ideal for a rejuvenating girls’ getaway.” It’s pretty much impossible for anyone to be bored here — unless, of course, that’s the goal.

Ambergris Cay, Turks and Caicos

caribbean all inclusive resorts

Famous for its sugar-sand beaches and turquoise water, it’s no wonder Turks and Caicos are among the most popular Caribbean vacation destinations.  Unsurprisingly, it’s home to some seriously stunning resorts — Ambergris Cay among them. Accommodations at this 1,100-acre private island all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean take the form of one-bedroom beach bungalows plus three- to six-bedroom villas, the latter of which are, you guessed it, ideal for groups. (The private pools, fireplaces, and ocean views are just the icing on the cake.)

How does KAYAK know what to put in this guide?

As a frequent visitor to all-inclusive resorts, I know the ins and outs of finding a great deal. From my first all-inclusive experience honeymooning with my wife on beaches in the Dominican Republic to our most recent vacation with our five children, I can attest to the benefits of cheap all-inclusive resorts.

I put this guide together through years of travel experience, consulting with other experts who have visited these specific resorts, and reviewing the KAYAK rating system to determine. Please note all prices were accurate as of 21/03/2024 and are subject to change.

I've been to 35 all-inclusive resorts. Here are 10 mistakes I always see first-timers make.

  • I've stayed at all-inclusive resorts around the world and seen first-timers make the same mistakes.
  • Don't go overboard on the frozen drinks, and never fill your plate during the first pass at a buffet.
  • Pack an insulated travel mug and check out water-sport rentals and amenities at sister properties.

Insider Today

Vacationing at an all-inclusive resort is very appealing for many travelers — and with good reason.

Being able to budget before you arrive and not having to worry about toting around cash or credit cards can alleviate a lot of travel headaches.

As a travel writer, I've been to dozens of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico, the Maldives, and more. During my stays, I see guests overlook many details that could make their sojourns much more enjoyable.

Whether you're planning your first trip to an all-inclusive resort or this is already your preferred style of vacation, here are 10 mistakes to avoid:

Not researching before booking

Not every all-inclusive resort is designed equally. Some have gorgeous pools and underwhelming beaches, or vice-versa.

Some cater to families with dedicated kids' and teens' clubs and activities, but others prohibit guests under 18. I've stayed at resorts that run the gamut.

The point is that having everything included in and of itself isn't necessarily enough of an appeal. Think about what you're looking for in a vacation, do your research, and look beyond the slick marketing and touched-up, wide-angle pics on the resort's website.

Overlooking VIP and concierge-level room options

The term "all-inclusive" doesn't mean what it used to.

These days, some resorts offer upgraded rooms and suites in certain areas of the property, with perks that may include butler service and dedicated lounges, restaurants, pools, or beach areas for these VIP guests.

Although spending more for these amenities isn't for everyone, they can bring a sense of luxury and civility to your vacation, especially if you're staying at a crowded resort where guests are forced to set out towels before breakfast to claim lounge chairs.

Not making dinner reservations when you check in

You may have access to a slew of restaurants at your resort, but that doesn't mean you can roll up to the host stand and automatically get a table, especially at peak dinner times (remember, everyone wants 7:30 p.m.).

To avoid disappointment, book tables for the popular spots right after you check in or before you arrive, if that's an option.

Keep in mind that depending on how many nights you're staying, you may be entitled to only a limited number of reservations for the à-la-carte concepts, so choose wisely.

My advice is to prioritize places that serve local cuisine. After all, you can get steak or pasta just about anywhere.

Filling your plate at the buffet before checking out all the options

All-inclusive resorts are often known for over-the-top buffets any time of day, with omelet and freshly-pressed-juice stations at breakfast and salad bars, local specialties, carving stations, and all the desserts at lunch and dinner.

Related stories

Grabbing a plate and reaching for the serving spoons before giving the area a look-see is a rookie move and can also lead to overeating and wasting food.

Each time before tackling a buffet, take a walk around, as options can change not only from meal to meal but daily as well. And make it a point to take a spoonful of something you've never tried.

Forgetting to bring an insulated travel mug

I used to roll my eyes at resort guests who'd tote their travel mugs up to the bar to be filled with their beverage of choice.

I thought they were being overly indulgent and exploiting the concept of "all-inclusive." But now I think they're on to something.

For one thing, insulated tumblers keep drinks colder for much longer and reduce the number of trips to the bar.

Beyond that, they're more environmentally friendly than all those single-use plastic cups. If you're bringing your Stanley and asking the bartender to fill it, though, tip them for going above and beyond.

Not tipping

Speaking of tipping, I'm well aware that some all-inclusive resorts invite guests to "leave their wallets at home."

But unless the property you're staying at has a strict policy against it, small tips can go a long way. Tipping the bartender at a crowded swim-up or lobby bar when you first order, for example, can result in quicker service for your second and third rounds.

If you have a fabulous server at dinner, leaving them some cash on the table is a nice gesture. And don't forget about the housekeeping staff, who keep your room free of sand and endlessly replenish your towels.

Ordering drinks wrong

Not all drinks at all-inclusive resorts are created equally.

Belly up to the lobby bar, which tends to stock top-shelf liqueur. Upgrade your piña colada by requesting it with dark or aged rum instead of white, which gives it much more flavor.

If you see Aperol or Campari on the back bar, you can be sure to get a decent spritz. Craft your own low-ABV libation by asking for sauvignon blanc or rosé mixed with club soda and a dash of simple syrup, garnished with a lemon wedge.

And try the local beer or wine, if it's available.

… and going all in on fruity, frozen drinks

A piña colada is decidedly delicious — I like to have one mid-morning, which I half-jokingly refer to as a "breakfast smoothie."

But if you keep hitting the swim-up bar to order blended concoctions, you're going to end up drinking a zillion calories and probably getting a stomachache or killer hangover to boot.

If you're on a quest to keep the buzz going, maybe mix things up a bit with a spirit mixed with soda water or a wine spritzer. And don't forget to hydrate with actual water to counter the effects of all that heat and sunshine.

Not taking advantage of the amenities at sister properties

Some resorts are part of sprawling complexes with several adjacent properties owned and operated by the same parent company.

If your stay includes reciprocity (such as a "stay at one, play at three" policy), you'll have access to other facilities, including additional pools, fitness centers, beach areas, and restaurants.

Making use of them is a great way to avoid boredom and make it seem as if your vacation includes stays at multiple hotels.

Not using the non-motorized water sports

Although Jet Ski, hoverboard, and parasailing rentals can be pricey, using simpler things such as stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, floats, and even Hobie-Cats are often included in the price of an all-inclusive stay.

Yet I often see them lined up on the beach all day, barely being used.

Sign the waiver, don a life jacket, and give them a try. And if you happen to be staying at a place where these water sports are popular, add your name to the waiting list first thing in the morning.

Exterior of Cayo Espano.

Sometimes you want to go where nobody knows your name, and a tiny private island where you can stay incognito for a while might be just what’s called for.

Enter  Cayo Espanto : Not even a speck on the map, this exclusive, all-inclusive resort sits 3 miles off the coast of San Pedro, on the peninsula of Belize.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

With just seven dwellings that dot the edges of the tiny island — ranging from cozy one bedrooms to an overwater bungalow with glass floor — its maximum capacity is only 18 guests.

If you’re a celeb, you’ll arrive by helicopter from Belize City, otherwise by boat from San Pedro, a short half-hour plane ride from the capital, pulling up to your own private dock — no lobby check-in needed, since there isn’t one.

The casas’ decor is the epitome of barefoot elegance, with cement floors, louvered shutters, outdoor showers, hammocks and, in most cases, your own little beach and infinity plunge pool.

Exterior of one of the private pools.

But you won’t be a stranger to five-star service. A personal houseman is always on call via walkie-talkie to deliver that emergency pitcher of margaritas.

In what turns out to be an elegant twist, there’s no restaurant here, or any other communal premises, for that matter. After consulting with you about the day’s customizable menu each morning, dining is catered and served on your deck or in surprise locations around the island — say under the palms with tiki torches, or on the lawn by a fire pit.

travel and leisure all inclusive caribbean resorts

And it’s the food here that’s truly exceptional.

Belizean chef Richard Gillette has been with the company since 2005 and was recently appointed executive chef. He’s pulling in accolades for his fusion of local Belizean specialties, fresh seafood, local produce and world flavors, helping the resort to top the lists for Caribbean food on foodie and travel sites.

Having honed his skills in other local luxury resorts across Belize, Gillette’s team of five talented chefs craft delectable dishes that arrive as if by magic to your table. Standouts are the cashew crusted snapper with charred corn quinoa, and the crab claw platter — not to mention desserts like pina colada cake, and key lime tart with a shot of margarita sorbet.

Exterior of a woman paddle boarding.

Since a stroll round the island would take about two minutes, you’ll be looking at seafaring sports and activities to work off the cocktails and good food. Kayak or paddle around the mangroves, take a snorkeling trip to swim with the nurse sharks nearby, try some fly fishing, visit the barrier reef at Ambergris Caye or scuba dive in the mysterious Great Blue Hole. The resort’s luxury yacht can also be hired for bespoke adventures. You can also sail by that island on the horizon; Blackadore Caye and its owned by Leonardo di Caprio.

Day trips to Xunantunich via small plane can also be arranged to see Mayan ruins, with 26 temples and palaces, followed by tubing through underground river caves. Should you tire of not being recognized, the resort’s water taxi offers a shuttle to San Pedro where shopping and nightlife awaits.

But better to enjoy the splendid isolation with an in-room massage or facial instead.

This Luxury All-inclusive Resort on a Spanish Island Has Private Pool Suites With Sea and Mountain Views

Golf, spa, high-end dining, and relaxation await at this modern luxury hotel on Mallorca.

Food and Drink

Activities and amenities, accessibility and sustainability, how to get the most value out of your stay.

Courtesy of Zafiro Palace Andratx

It took two full days into the trip, but it happened. My wife and I were sitting on the second floor roof deck of our suite, watching the sun set over the Mediterranean with a bottle of wine and some tapas, and we finally, earnestly, felt relaxed. Gone were the worries about school drop-off, quarterly strategy presentations, and who had walked the dog last. The water temperature in our private pool was the same as the air. We both breathed that sigh of relief signifying we had made the right choice. It was finally time to recharge.

It’s hard planning a trip as two working parents. Once you line up childcare, book transportation, set your work out-of-office note and find time to pack, all you want to do is turn your brain off and experience true rest, relaxation, and recovery from the grind. Or, as close to that as you can get. Luckily, for our pandemic-delayed anniversary trip, we chose to go to Mallorca and stay at the incredible five-star Zafiro Palace Andratx , which didn’t only provide a beautiful, well-designed and peaceful retreat from the busy daily life of two working parents — they also curated an itinerary to help us have some fun exploring and golfing.

Zafiro Palace Andratx

  • The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and modern, built in 2020 with warm and calming tones that match the unique Mallorcan landscape and feature lots of stone, glass, and native greenery.
  • All of the 304 rooms are suites, with incredibly comfortable beds and your choice of view and pool based on your budget.
  • Situated alongside the award-winning, championship Andratx golf course, golfers can play a world-class round without leaving the property.
  • Available with your reservation is an all-inclusive option that unlocks a level of service and culinary opportunity that is both surprisingly decadent and flexible.
  • Friendly to families but with enough adults-only sections away from the action, you feel a true disconnect from the bustle of daily life back home whether you’re on a couples trip or with the kids.
  • It’s a quick walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops at Camp de Mar or a short scooter/taxi ride to the bigger nearby towns of Port d’Andratx, and only 45 minutes from the airport and main city of Palma.

Mallorca is a vibrant island with a long and complex history, but it blends the best of Catalan Spain, the South of France, and the Italian Riviera with its own unique culture and vibe. From wineries, to night clubs, to culinary explorations, and some of the most incredible vistas on the Mediterranean, there is no shortage of day trips and excursions you can take to scratch the wanderlust itch; and the Zafiro Palace Andratx concierge team can arrange them all for you with door-to-door service and high-touch customer service.

Each of the hotel’s 304 rooms is a suite, offering top-tier amenities and incredible views from their balconies, roof decks and outdoor spaces. With incredibly comfortable king-size beds, rain showers, plush towels, and stylish yet cozy seating areas, you’ll find yourself spending more time in the room than you may have anticipated. Most rooms face the Mediterranean, which due to the orientation of the resort affords incredible sunset views. The rest face the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains or the golf course, and enjoy true privacy from the resort grounds.

We stayed in the super luxe two-story Penthouse Suite that had a balcony and a private mini-pool on the roof. With a view southwest of the Mediterranean, we saw sunsets each night and woke up to rejuvenating morning breezes off the water. Each room has Wi-Fi, connected TVs, lots of small design touches that make you feel at home, as well as in-room coffee and a minibar stocked for your visit.

With five on-site restaurants, four of which are open only for dinner and one main cafeteria for breakfast, lunch, and supper, there is enough variety for you to eat within the resort every night of your trip and try something new each time. There is a steakhouse, an Italian restaurant, a chef’s table, and our surprising favorite, a sushi spot. But also at your disposal with the all-inclusive package are bites at the pool, a smoothie and healthy greens truck, and your choice of in-room dining. You can even have a floating breakfast in your pool, for an extra charge.

The standout for us was the drinks. With a unique bar at every main area or pool on the grounds, including a swim-up bar overlooking the mountains, the Zafiro mixologists poured us incredible wine and high-end cocktails both on and off-menu. A standout was their Aperol Spritz (that my wife declared her favorite in the world) and a myriad of tropical drinks to match the vibe of the warm air and seaside views.

Part of the charm of the Zafiro Palace Andratx is how full-service it is, without feeling like a cruise ship or a large campus of buildings. Built into a steep-grade hill, you traverse levels via stairs and elevators yet somehow are outside the whole time and never feel contained to a singular space. This comes into play when you realize just how many amenities there are. A luxurious spa, The Gem by Germaine de Capuccini (featuring saunas, plunge pools, a high-end gym, as well as massage and beauty services) is built into the cliffs, so every room has a large floor-to-ceiling window for you to look out of while you relax. We had incredible massages and followed them up with some calming time in the relaxation room looking out at the sea.

There are seven unique pools, two indoor and five outdoor, that give you a chance to choose your vibe and view every time you want to take a dip. We found ourselves at the 18+ adult pool the most, enjoying cocktails while wading and reading under the sun in the Bali beds, though even the family-friendly pools were comfortable and never felt crowded when we visited.

As avid golfers, we were so excited to play the championship Andratx Golf course , with its signature 6th hole, “The Green Monster,” that is 666 yards long and is known as the “longest hole in Spain.” Better than the course may have been the quaint halfway house, which unlike the ones at courses in the U.S. with their light beer and candy bars, served us fresh-cut Iberico ham and local wine, and didn’t rush us to tee off on the back nine.

There is proximity to so much Mallorcan culture and activity from the Zafiro Palace Andratx, that when you’re ready to leave the grounds, the amazing staff can arrange an excursion to any number of places around the island. Complimentary electric scooters allow you to buzz in and out of the Camp de Mar town, or nearby Port Andratx and Paguera, where shopping, restaurants, and Mediterranean culture is bustling.

The team booked us into the night clubs of Palma, where we were enthusiastically brought to a VIP table at the storied Lío for cabaret and dancing. The next day, we took a day trip arranged by our incredible concierge to the historic and family-owned Bodega Ribas , where 10th-generation vintner Araceli Ribas treated us to a first-person journey through her family’s vineyard and legacy of making natural Mallorcan wine.

The Zafiro brand operates hotels across the Balearic Islands of Mallorca and Menorca that all adhere to sustainable tourism principles and certifications , including being a part of a greenhouse gas reduction program from the Spanish government called the “Carbon Footprint Register.“ The Zafiro Palace Andratx is a multi-level resort, built into the side of a hill with many different buildings and elevations, but it has accessible ramps and elevators at every turn, including dedicated rooms for those with mobility concerns, and an incredibly helpful staff who are available 24/7 during your stay. They also have dining options for most dietary restrictions, include vegan and nut-free,  at each restaurant.

I am not usually one for all-inclusive travel; for me it brings to mind college-era Spring Break trips and watered down Tequila Sunrises. However, when it comes to the Zafiro Palace Andratx, I wouldn’t recommend staying without it. The package, called “ All Inclusive Redefined ,” not only pays for itself in the incredible drinks and food on site, but it unlocks a personalized and on-call concierge team that makes your stay, however long, effortless. From complimentary pickup and dropoff at the airport and local towns, to planning your itinerary hour-by-hour (with the flexibility to change at will), you’ll feel taken care of at a level often not seen at similar five-star hotels. While you’ll find incredibly friendly staff at every turn regardless of the package, having someone to help you navigate the resort, island, and language is what brings this trip from great to amazing, and the value it provides is worth it.
