Cruise Ship Recruitment Agencies

Although applying directly with a cruise line is one way to land a job at sea, using cruise ship recruitment agencies is also recommended. Get to know the role of these recruiters and the relationship they have with the cruise lines. Then learn which recruitment agencies are the best along with some tips on how to use them.

Why Use Cruise Ship Recruitment Agencies

For some cruise lines it’s not just a matter of why to apply through an agency. It’s actually the cruise lines’ preferred method of application. This means that if you just assume that sending your resume to the head office of a cruise line is going to land you a cruise job, then you are mistaken. If a cruise line states on their website to apply through one of their recruitment partners then that’s what you need to do.

Many cruise lines rely on a network of hiring partners around the world to help with their recruitment needs. Consider that cruise ship employees come from over 100 countries, many of which are nowhere near a cruise line’s head office. Although the manning agencies do not have the authority to actually hire applicants, they are authorized to screen and interview on the cruise lines’ behalf.

The bottom line is that these hiring partners have the ability to influence whether or not a job seeker is presented to the cruise line’s HR recruiter as a qualified candidate. If the agency gives their stamp of approval this could mean the difference of getting a second interview or not.

Finding a Cruise Ship Recruitment Agency

Many cruise lines make it clear on their website’s employment pages to only trust the recruitment agencies that they have listed. Some cruise lines even go as far as to point out known cruise ship employment scams that applicants need to steer away from. So how do you find a legitimate cruise ship recruitment agency?

Apart from checking out the Cruise Ship Recruitment Agencies directory on this website, applicants should educate themselves on what to look out for in a reputable agency. Be aware that there are agencies that attempt to collect funds from job seekers by fraudulently representing themselves as authorized recruiters for a cruise line.

Keep in mind that cruise lines pay the hiring partners for their services and do not allow the collection of administrative fees, agency fees, or processing fees. Although there are costs involved with joining the ship (visas, medicals, airlines tickets), there is no fee associated with obtaining an interview, position, or ship assignment. Learn more about Cruise Ship Job Scams.

To find a reputable cruise ship recruitment agency, each cruise line lists the agencies that they work with, broken down by country. Consider that most recruitment agencies have a specific geographic area that they represent. For example, job seekers in Australia will most likely be applying with a different agency than applicants from the UK.

Biggest Cruise Recruitment Agencies

In some cases it is possible that one agency may represent two or more cruise lines. In other cases, an agency may represent two or more countries. In all cases it depends on where you live when deciding which agency to apply to. Here are some of the biggest and most respected recruiting agencies in the cruise industry.

Cast-a-Way – This agency recruits applicants from Canada, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Australia. They are hiring partners with Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas, Starboard Cruise Services and Steiner Leisure.

Seven Seas Group (SSG Evropa) – This agency recruits applicants from the United States and Europe. They are hiring partners with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and the Image Group.

Cruceros Bonavista – This agency recruits applicants from South America. They are hiring partners with Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines and NCL.

CTI Group – This agency recruits applicants from Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. They are hiring partners with Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines, and NCL.

Ismira Recruitment – This agency recruits applicants from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and a few other Eastern European countries. They are partners with Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, Oceania Cruises, and Crystal Cruises.

V. Hospitality (V-Ships) – This agency recruits applicants worldwide. They are partners with Disney Cruise Line, P&O Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, Silversea Cruises, and Starboard Cruise Services

How to Use a Recruitment Agency to Get a Cruise Job

Here are some tips to follow when using cruise ship recruitment agencies:

  • Be conscientious of which cruise lines that the agency represents. For example if an agent represents Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines, don’t send three identical application packages to the same address.
  • Only contact the hiring partner closest to your permanent address. Submitting applications to more than one hiring partner could result in your disqualification as a candidate.
  • Follow the agency’s instructions on how to apply. Does the recruiter want you to complete an online application? Make sure it is complete and free from errors.
  • Even if you fill out an online application, mail or email your resume and cover letter, too. The cover letter lets you personalize why you are applying. Make sure you mention when you completed an online application.
  • Follow up after you apply. This is one sure way to get noticed. Follow up after you fill out an online application. Follow up after you have an interview. Follow up until you get a ship assignment.

Once an applicant receives a ship assignment, the hiring partner will issue a Letter of Employment as instructed by a cruise line representative. The hiring partner will assist new hires with their visa applications, and provide guidance for medical and travel arrangements. They also provide company orientation and information about shipboard life.

Recruitment agencies around the world

The world is big, and the logistics involved on assigning crew members from different countries to join different vessels in different countries, in a very specific date and time frame are chaotic. That’s why most cruise liners and yachts have an assigned hiring agency responsible for all recruitment, document handling and logistics to recruit a local candidate and assist him or her till the vessel they’re joining. On note, we also mention that most cruise lines in the world accept candidates that apply direct with the company as well, and if they don’t, than the process is redirected to a local agency.

Here we list (or at least try) all the recruitment agencies in the world and for which companies they recruit for. If you know any agency that is missing or needs an update on the information, feel free to get in touch with us as well by filling the form on the bottom of this page. As we constantly receive feedback from our visitors about our website, we also inform that we are not an agency (yet). You can share our website to friends and family that wish to understand the job and/or how to apply.

WARNING: Unfortunately we live in a world where some people try to take advantage of others, so please be aware of fake agencies that try to convince candidates to pay them money in order to get hired, or ask for private details (like your passport number) in order to sell fake copies of it elsewhere. Some details can give it away, like for instance if the agency you’re dealing with does not have an official website or email (ex: Emails from Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook), or if they promise an instant embark, or even if they are looking for a dishwasher to get paid 5.000 euros per month; you can start to inquire if they’re for real or not.

We keep a list of fake agencies here , so you can always double check.

ATTENTION: Official agencies are not allowed to charge candidates in any way during the selection process, as mandate by the Maritime Labor Convention. Still, we are aware that a lot of agencies around the world charge new hires with interview fees or request payments in order to get hired. If you’re being charged during your selection process you have the right to refuse and also report the agency to the MLC.

Charging for complementary or separate course or giving extra trainings for candidates about diverse subjects although is not considered an infraction, like English classes or Hospitality service.

Get Hired Through a Cruise Line Staffing Agency

With the cruise industry growing at a fast clip worldwide, there's never been a better time to apply for a job on a cruise ship. The key to getting hired in a competitive job market is knowing HOW to get the job of your dreams. You have to have a strategy, which includes applying for opportunities through official staffing partners. You won't want to overlook these agencies when looking for that perfect job.

What are Staffing and Crewing Agencies?

cruise staffing photo

Why should I Apply For Work Through a Staffing Agency?

There are definitely pros and cons for using a staffing agency to get a cruise line job. For one thing, going through the agency may be the only way to get a job with some cruise lines. If the cruise line has contracted with an agency for all culinary staff, and that's the department you want to work in, it won't do you any good to apply directly to the cruise line. The cruise line will simply forward your resume to the agency anyway.

Some staffing agencies also provide you with assistance that can get you hired - they help you update your resume, improve your interviewing skills, and more.

Remember: most legitimate agencies DO NOT charge fees for their services. They usually get paid by the cruise lines for whom they are recruiting. You really need to get as much information as possible before you apply with an agency.

CruiseJobFinder Gives Has The Information You Need

CruiseJobFinder is all about giving you the information you need to make an educated decision about going for a cruise line job through a staffing agency. CruiseJobFinder answers questions like these:

  • Who do you work for, the cruise line or the agency?
  • What kinds of jobs are available?
  • Will you have to pay a fee?
  • Are you guaranteed to get hired?
  • How long are the contracts?

You'll get the answers to these and many other questions as a CruiseJobFinder member. We also give you valuable information that makes your job search fast and easy, like which cruise lines use agencies, and which agencies they use. Plus, in our members' section we have exclusive interviews with representatives from leading staffing agents, who explain their hiring and training processes.

The cruise line industry is complex, and so is the recruitment and hiring process. We've done the research for you so you'll know where the agencies are located and what jobs are available: hotel jobs, deck/engine jobs, casino jobs, and many others.

Being a CruiseJobFinder member gives you the tools you need to find the perfect cruise line job for you.

Middle East latest: US army vessel heads to Gaza with equipment to build temporary port - as food aid ship in Cyprus prepares to leave

HMS Richmond used its Sea Ceptor missiles to shoot two Houthi drones in the Red Sea, defence minister Grant Shapps has said. Meanwhile, a US vessel carrying the first equipment for a temporary port has departed for Gaza.

A US army vessel has set off for Gaza carrying the first bits of  equipment to build a temporary port which aims to deliver more humanitarian aid to the region, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The General Frank S Besson left Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia "less than 36 hours after President Biden announced the US would provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza by sea", CENTCOM said in a statement.

It comes after warnings of widespread famine among millions of Palestinians in Gaza.

Busloads of demonstrators came from across the UK to march through London calling for a ceasefire in Gaza on Saturday - the 10th demonstration of its kind since the conflict began.

For all the drums, horns and clamour of this protest, the build up to it has had more political noise than most, with the prime minster telling police chiefs that mob rule is replacing democratic rule and making a speech on the steps of Downing Street warning of extremists infiltrating the march.

Charity workers have been loading relief supplies bound for Gaza on to a barge in Cyprus today as part of an international effort to launch a maritime corridor to Gaza.

The European Commission had said a maritime aid corridor between Cyprus and Gaza could start operating as early as this weekend in a pilot project run by an international charity and financed by the UAE.

The Open Arms, a salvage vessel owned by a Spanish NGO, has been moored at a port in the coastal Cyprus town of Larnaca, 210 miles northwest of Gaza.

It will tow a barge with 200 tonnes of food sourced by charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) and mostly funded by the UAE.

It is an estimated 15-hour journey by sea to Gaza, though a barge tow could make the journey longer.

The IDF is coordinating a temporary or floating dock to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza, a spokesman has said.

In a statement, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Hamas "had been stealing humanitarian aid and stockpiling equipment and food for Ramadan".

"In coordination with our partners in the US and US Central Command, we are coordinating a temporary floating pier to get more humanitarian aid to Gaza," he said.

"We will continue our humanitarian efforts while we continue to dismantle Hamas military capabilities and do everything we can to bring our hostages home."

Explained : A temporary or floating dock is used to allow boats and ships to moor up further away from the shore - generally so they can stay in deep enough water.

They've been used various times throughout history. Perhaps the most famous example were the floating mulberry harbours that Allied forces used during the D-Day landings.

By Alex Crawford , special correspondent

There's a renewed urgency to the delivery of food to Gaza but it's still struggling to keep pace with the escalating humanitarian catastrophe inside the besieged enclave.

We joined the small kingdom of Jordan's air force crew coordinating the multi-nation coalition to get aid to the thousands of Gazans cut off in the north of the Strip.

Around ten planes - all variations of C-130s - spent the day delivering several tonnes of food which were dropped from the air at more than a dozen different locations in north Gaza.

The fleet of planes, led by Jordan, included those from Egypt, Belgium and Holland, as well as the USA.

Lebanese security sources have said an Israeli strike has killed a family of five, Reuters reports.

Sources have said nine other people were also injured in the strike, which took place in a village in southern Lebanon, near the border with Israel

Sky News has not been able to verify this report.

By military analyst Sean Bell

With the humanitarian crisis in Gaza escalating day by day, the international community is ramping up efforts to get much needed aid across the border.

A maritime aid corridor is expected to be launched tomorrow with the ship Open Arms ready to start shuttling between Cyprus and Gaza to deliver aid supplies.

It is a relatively small ship, and is expected to be able to carry around 10 truck-loads of aid per visit, but is also expected to tow a barge containing up to 200 tonnes of rice.

Although this aid will be invaluable, it only represents around 3% of Gaza's daily requirements. Bulk aid delivery by sea will not be viable until the US build their pontoon facility off-shore, but that will take weeks rather than days to reach initial operating capability.

Meanwhile, the international community is ramping up the supply of aid via airdrops.

Airdrops can be indiscriminate and dangerous when aid is delivered into confined spaces with high population densities, and the Palestinian authorities have stated that five Palestinians have been killed by pallets falling from the skies - something the US denies.

When the Open Arms commences its deliveries of aid, one of the key challenges will be security.

Recent aid deliveries by land and air have been accompanied by chaotic scenes on the ground as the local population fights to secure access to limited supplies.

Once the aid arrives in port, how will it be moved ashore, and who will provide the security environment required to enable safe and effective distribution?

Will the IDF provide security for the crew of the ship, or will that fall to the Palestinian authorities?

There is also the issue of time.

Prime Minister Netanyahu announced three weeks ago that unless the hostages were released by 10 March that the ground offensive into Rafah would commence.

He also claimed that he had ordered the IDF to develop a plan to clear the 1.3 million refugees from the area to avoid what many aid agencies believed would be a "bloodbath".

To date, there is no evidence that any of the refugees have been moved from Rafah.

However, the interesting dynamic has been the evident shift in international support for Israel.

Immediately following the Hamas attacks on Israel the West supported Israel's right to self-defence, but over the past few days the international community has started bypassing Israel's control over aid deliveries to Gaza by conducting airdrops and developing longer-term plans to supply aid to the beleaguered region.

The international community has concluded that with the total Palestinian casualties totalling more than 100,000, and a spiralling humanitarian crisis, it can no longer remain a concerned observer.

Countries including the US, UK and Jordan have dropped aid packages into Gaza today.

Our special correspondent  Alex Crawford   joined the Jordanian air force as they took off from the King Abdullah airbase to drop the aid at 18 different locations in north Gaza.

One Gaza resident told Sky News: "We can't keep our kids alive. I have seven children and can't feed my kids.

"As a man I can be patient while starving, but the kids go to sleep starving."

Meanwhile, another resident, Taha Salman, said he was "sick of eating animal food".

"People are killing each other, people are injuring each other, people are dying," he said.

The Israeli military have approved plans for the continuation of the war, the IDF report.

In a statement on Telegram the IDF said the chief of the general staff and the head of the Israel Security Agency (ISA) held a meeting today.

During the meeting, they approved plans for the continuation of the war in the southern command, together with the commanding officer.

We reported earlier that the Royal Navy frigate HMS Richmond downed two drones launched by the Houthis (see post at 4.16pm).

Defence secretary Grant Shapps said the incident overnight saw the warship use its Sea Ceptor missiles to repel the attack.

Further to this, the UK's Ministry of Defence has said Richmond's crew acted in an "exemplary manner" and the UK was "unwavering in our position that we will take the action necessary to protect innocent lives and the global economy".

The Houthis, based in Yemen, have claimed their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea are in response to what is happening in Gaza.
