Recent tour reviews

In 1985 singer/songwriter Sean Kelly met guitarist Charles Hambleton met at an open mic night in Vermont and hit it off immediately. Musically in tune with one another it wasn’t long before they began playing in a band together, the creative spark was well and truly alive. To kick-start their music endeavours they moved to Colarado where they met with bassist Andy Shelden a friend of Kelly’s and decided to form another band. Getting drummer Jeep MacNichol and keyboardist Al Laughlin on board, The Samples began their mission for success. Relying on word of mouth the band played mostly to college students in the beginning and soon the word had spread of this promising reggae infused pop/rock band. In 1989 they independently released their debut album which had a bluegrass feel and soon Arista leapt at the chance to sign them before they re-released the album. Their time spent with Arista was short-lived as the band were eager to evolve their sound and move in a different musical direction. Signing with W.A.R.? (What Are Records) they released their second album ‘No Room’ in 1992 which blended pop with jazz, folk, reggae and rock which would then become their definitive sound. The album churned out the hit singles ‘When It’s Raining’ and ‘Taking Us Home’ which helped put the band on the map. The following year they opted for a poppier sound with the album ‘Last Drag’ which launched them into mainstream success. After a small hiatus, the band returned in 2013 with their 11th studio album ‘America’ released on New Year’s Day signalling a new chapter of The Samples had begun. Performing with an abundance of passion to an adoring crowd, The Samples delve into some of their most prolific tracks such as ‘Feel Us Shaking’, ‘Did You Ever Look So Nice’ and ‘Little Silver Ring’ evoking cheers and applause from the audience. As the band get carried away playing instrumentals you feel yourself getting lost in the rhythm as they command the stage and everyone’s attention. The Samples are back and better than ever.

While in college Mike’s talent did not go unnoticed, he was given the incredible opportunity to go on tour with Rosemary Clooney. It was from this pivotal moment that it became clear that he had found his calling. Following the tour he then moved to the bay area and has never looked back. He has been blessed and honored to do what he loves while playing with a wide range of groups and legends from all genres. Adam Shulman (Piano) : Adam has been a staple of the Bay Area Jazz scene since he moved back in 2002. His voice can also be heard in the Spanish dub of the Nick Jr. show HobbyKids Adventures. He has written for the National Lampoon and the CBS Diversity Showcase. He has opened for dozens of comedians, including Russell Peters, Ali Wong, Dana Gould, Steve Treviño, and Iliza Shlesinger. Most recently, he recorded his debut comedy special Conditional Love, which will be available on Valentine’s Day, 2024. Stuart’s love for comedy began at the age of 12 when he saw George Carlin on TV and was mesmerized by Carlin’s ability to captivate a crowd with only his thoughts and words. A few years later, Stuart began watching Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Saturday Night Live religiously, longing for an opportunity to perform comedy in front of an audience but believing it wasn’t something he had access to do. It wasn’t until Stuart was 18 and a student at UC Berkeley that he went to his first open mic at the Brainwash Cafe in San Francisco that the dream of being a comedian began to become a reality. Within a year, Stuart was performing on shows all over the Bay Area. On his first paid show, he got to meet Robin Williams and Mort Sahl and realized that a career in comedy was possible. He has been entertaining audiences ever since then. Currently, Stuart can be seen performing all over Los Angeles and the U.S. as he builds his new hour of stand-up.  Terrell Butler is originally from Oakland California. Affectionally referred to by his nickname Big-T, he has always been the comedian of his social circle. Taking the stage for the first time in 2007 as a stand up comic, he hit the ground running.  He has quickly earned respect at the premier comedy clubs across Northern and Southern California as a feature performer. Terrell is the Winner of the 2016 Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition, in Sunnyvale CA. As a stand up comedian, Big-T draws his comedy from life experience.  Ranging from The colorful characters in his family, his life as an Oakland youth, and his years as a bouncer in Bay Area nightclubs & gentlemens clubs. Terrell is a graduate of Academy Of Art University, with a degree in Communication and Media Technology. He has hosted several Live Stream TV Shows, Produced two radio shows “The Bridge” & “The Rise N’ Grind Show”. He also worked as the Program Director for Urban Knight Radio at AAU. Yearning to take advantage of everything AAU has to offer, Terrell quickly re-enrolled at the Academy to pursue his Fine Arts degree in Writing for Film and Television. His goal of making a major impact was realized when his first short film was produced and nominated for several awards at AAU. There is no doubt that Terrell can excel in whatever field he sets his mind to. Wether it’s live comedy, writing, or acting, Terrell is destined to make an impact in the Entertainment Industry. Tom Rhodes is a world traveling comedian who is now celebrating his 34th year as a stand up comedian. The New York Times describes him as “A mostly natural intellect with a knack for reporting the harsh realities of life with a dark and absurdly optimistic cynicism.” An adventurer forging his own path, Rhodes has built a career that not only includes stand-up specials, a sitcom, a travel show, a late night talk show, numerous live CD’s & DVD’s, his critically acclaimed podcast Tom Rhodes Radio Smart Camp, as well as being a travel writer for the Huffington Post. As well-known for their bizarrely teased haircuts as their hit single "I Ran (So Far Away)," A Flock of Seagulls were one of the infamous one-hit wonders of the new wave era. Growing out of the synth-heavy and ruthlessly stylish new romantic movement, A Flock of Seagulls were a little too robotic and arrived a little too late to be true new romantics, but their sleek dance-pop was forever indebted to the short-lived movement. The group benefitted considerably from MTV's heavy rotation of the "I Ran" video in the summer of 1982.

Hairdresser Mike Score (lead vocals, keyboards) formed A Flock of Seagulls with his brother Ali (drums) and fellow hairdresser Frank Maudsley (bass) in 1980, adding guitarist Paul Reynolds several months later. The group released its debut EP on Cocteau Records early in 1981, and while the record failed to chart, its lead track, "Telecommunication," became an underground hit in Euro-disco and new wave clubs. The band signed a major-label contract with Jive by the end of the year, and their eponymous debut album appeared in the spring of 1982. "I Ran (So Far Away)" was released as the first single from the album, and MTV quickly picked up on its icily attractive video, which featured long shots of Mike Score and his distinctive, cascading hair. The single climbed into the American Top Ten, taking the album along with it. In the U.K., "I Ran" didn't make the Top 40, but "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" reached number ten later that year; in America, that single became a Top 40 hit in 1983, after "Space Age Love Song" peaked at number 30. "Wishing" was taken from the group's second album, Listen (1983), which was moderately successful.

The band released 1984's The Story of a Young Heart failed to produce any hit singles but Reynolds left after the album and was replaced by Gary Steadnin; the band also added keyboardist Chris Chryssaphis. The new lineup was showcased on 1986's Dream Come True. Shortly after its release, the band broke up. Mike Score assembled a new lineup of A Flock of Seagulls in 1989, releasing the single "Magic" and touring the U.S.A. The band continued to tour worldwide, although with major changes to its members, and in 1996 released a new album, The Light at the End of the World.

Mat Kearney: Headlights Home Tour

Sean Kelly & The Samples 2023

the samples tour

Best known for his high voice, unique guitar playing and songwriting (“Nature”, “Feel Us Shaking”, “Did You Ever Look So Nice”) rock, reggae and folk singer/songwriter Sean Kelly front man for The samples was born February 7, 1965 in Norwalk, Connecticut. The son of a WW2 veteran and a mom who worked construction to put food on the table, Kelly grew up in Vermont. While attending only one year of high school, he began playing guitar and composing his own songs. After moving to Colorado in 1987 to start a band, Kelly became a fixture on local club stages as the front man for The Samples, playing original songs with a variety of rock, reggae and folk. When not touring with The Samples, he enjoys playing his songs acoustically. The Samples are currently recording their 20th album, Indian Summer, to be released later this year. Kelly’s songs have been featured in Perks of Being a Wallflower and more recently in television’s Younger and in ads for MSNBC’s midterm election coverage.

Nearly every Delaware brewery is gathering under one roof. It promises to get goofy

the samples tour

The seventh annual 302 Beer Drinkers' Choice Awards will once again be held this weekend in Lewes.

Nearly every brewery company in the state ― 23 out of 29 ― will be under one roof with two of their brews to taste at the goofiest beer festival in the First State.

What is the 302 Beer Drinkers' Choice Awards?

Both beer brewers and craft beer lovers can be a silly lot. And this beer festival is especially made just for them.

Sure, the festival allows Delaware beer drinkers to vote for their favorite First State frosty, but the costumed, fun-filled event is more than that.

Awards also include Most Creative Beer, Best Brewery Costume, Best Brewery Booth and Best Drinkers Costume. The beer-makers aren't the only ones who will be in costume ― ticket-holders should get dressed up in the "craziest and most outlandish costume imaginable" and join in the fun as well for a chance to win the Golden Mug award.

"Hijinks are highly encouraged, especially on social media where participating breweries and their brewers will ruthlessly (our definition is different than yours) engage in the fine art of trash talk, all in good taste," organizers have promised in the past. The trending hashtag is #302BDCA.

When and where will it be held?

This year's 302 Beer Drinkers' Choice Awards will be held Sunday, March 24, from noon to 4 p.m. at Crooked Hammock Brewery at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way in Lewes.

What breweries will be there serving?

If you've been smacking your lips wanting to try beers from Delaware breweries you've never been to, save some gas money and hit them all in one spot.

These are the participating breweries this weekend: Bellefonte , Wilmington Brew Works , T hompson Island , Big Oyster , Midnight Oil , Volunteer , Ocean View , Crooked Hammock , Twisted Irons , Dewey Beer , Mispillion River , 38°-75° , Iron Hill , JAKL Beer Works , Dogfish Head , Revelation , Autumn Arch Beer Project , First State , Brick Works , Stewart's , Dew Point , Stitch House and Bethany .

Top Beer Festival: Delaware festival named one of nation's top beer festivals in USA TODAY's 10Best Awards

The six Delaware brew companies missing in action from this year's festival are Argilla , Loakal Branch , Hangman , 1937 , Musings Fermentation Underground and Dog Pirate .

How do I get tickets and how much do they cost?

Tickets for the beer festival cost $55 or $15 for nondrinking designated drivers. Open only to those 21 and older. For details and tickets, go to crookedhammockbrewery.com/beer-drinkers-choice-awards-2024 .

What beers will be there to sample?

Of the 46 beers up for grabs, here is the breakdown of varieties: IPAs (16), sours (eight), other (six), lagers (five), stouts (four), saisons (two), farmhouse ales (one) and Belgians (one).

They include:

  • Wilmington Brew Works : Crux Australis & Hazy Tang
  • Thompson Island : Good Times DIPA & Crossing the DE
  • Big Oyster : Hot Mess Sour & Swipe Right Hazy IPA
  • Midnight Oil : Cosmic Torment & Karaoke Fist Fight
  • Volunteer : Science Notes & Positive Ripples: Prickly Pear Sour
  • Ocean View : Modus Operandi & Anniversary DIPA
  • Crooked Hammock : Joint Collaboration IPA & Head in the Clouds
  • Twisted Irons : The Devil May Care & Tan Lines
  • Dewey Beer : Secret Machine Berry Bounty & Dirt Pursuit
  • Mispillion River : Peppermint Daddy & Cherry Bomb Sour
  • 38°-75° : Welcome, This is a Farmhouse & The Goat
  • Iron Hill : Philly Phavorite IPA & Russian Imperial Stout
  • JAKL : Hops Spring Eternal & White Cap Day Dreams
  • Dogfish Head : Unproper English & 302 Lager
  • Revelation : Grateful Nation & Razz Sour
  • Autumn Arch : Mid-Atlantic Funk & Table Hazy
  • First State : Confection Dissection Fruited Sour and Circle Theory Hazy IPA
  • Brick Works : Chocolate Covered Pretzel & Paint It Gold
  • Stitch House : Percolator & Madone!
  • Bethany : Red Tide Ale & Seamark Saison
  • Bellefonte: Roasted Stout with Marshmallow & Beer Maize: Purple Corn India Pale Pils
  • Stewart's: Not identified as of press time
  • Dew Point : Not identified as of press time

Who are the defending champions?

Big Oyster Brewery won the Fan Favorite Beer vote for Hot Mess, a sour with flavors ranging from strawberry, mango and papaya to marshmallow and almonds.

Other winners included: Most Creative Beer (Iron Hillfor Peaches and Cream milkshake IPA), Best Brewery Costume (Wilmington Brew Worksas Ted Lasso), Best Brewery Booth (Mispillion Riverwith its "Star Wars" theme and Best Guest Costume (team dressed as characters from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.")

What to look for?

Organizers point out that last year's winning beer, Big Oyster's Hot Mess sour, will be back for anyone who missed it last year.

As for a possible winner this year: Wilmington Brew Works is not bringing back two-time winning Luau Punch Milkshake Sour for the first time in three years, so that's one major contender off the table.

And even though Dewey Beer has the best-rated Delaware beers on Untappd and is the freshly crowned best brewpub in America by USA TODAY’s 10Best , they have never won. They are bringing two new beers this weekend in an attempt to change that.

How did it get started?

Launched in 2017, 302 Beer Drinkers' Choice Awards was created by Crooked Hammock to have a day when the breweries could come together and have fun while lampooning the seriousness of award shows at the same time, festival host and Crooked Hammock owner Rich Garrahan has said.

Best Brewpub Award: This Delaware brewpub named best brewpub in the country by USA TODAY’s 10Best awards

Like the award shows, the brewers and their co-workers "dress up" for the festival, as do the beer lovers who gulp the good stuff.

An hour before the doors open, the brew crews gather for a jovial breakfast buffet, which (surprise, surprise!) also involves alcohol.

"The expectation is for them to enjoy themselves as much as the guests," Garrahan said last year. "It's just intended to be really silly and fun."

Case in point: The brewery that wins the Fan Favorite Beer takes home a WWE-style championship belt that's passed on to winners year after year.

Betting | NCAA Tournament First-Round odds, best bets: March Madness picks, predictions

The NCAA Tournament kicks off on Thursday and we have three best bets in the first round, including a possible upset of Gonzaga and coach Mark Few

The NCAA Tournament gets going on Thursday with plenty of intriguing matchups. We have best bets for three of the games to tip off the madness.

(14) Akron vs. (3) Creighton

Akron survived a major scare in the MAC championship against 8th-seeded Kent State. The Zips were fortunate to get fouled in the final seconds and hit two free throws for a 62-61 win and the automatic bid.

Creighton stubbed its toe in its first Big East tournament game by losing to Providence in the quarterfinals, ending a three-game winning streak.

The Bluejays are coming off an Elite 8 appearance last season as they lost to San Diego State for a shot to make the Final Four. In its first three wins, Creighton’s largest margin of victory was 11 points.

Akron vs. Creighton odds

  • Spread: Akron +12.5 (-105), Creighton -12.5 (-115)
  • Total: Over 140.5 (-115), Under 140.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Akron +650, Creighton -1100

Odds via BetMGM

Akron vs. creighton pick.

Akron coach John Groce is 4-0 against the spread and 3-1 straight-up in four career first-round NCAA Tournament appearances. While he might not be able to pull off this massive upset, his team should be able to keep it inside the spread.

  • Pick: Akron +12.5 (-105, BetMGM)

Use the Tribune’s BetMGM bonus code TRIB1600 for bonus bets before making your Akron vs. Creighton pick.

(12) McNeese State vs. (5) Gonzaga

Gonzaga has won 14 straight seasons in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Bulldogs take on upstart McNeese State out of the Southland Conference.

McNeese State will be a popular bracket pick in this 5/12 matchup as the Cowboys finished 30-3. The Cowboys beat one team ranked in the top 100 and that was VCU in the first game of the season.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga pulled off some nice underdog wins over Kentucky and Saint Mary’s, but in their November and December non-conference schedule against the likes of UConn, San Diego State and Purdue, the Bulldogs went 0-3.

McNeese State vs. Gonzaga odds

  • Spread: McNeese State +6.5 (-110), Gonzaga -6.5 (-110)
  • Total: Over 150 (-110), Under 150 (-110)
  • Moneyline: McNeese State +230, Gonzaga -295

Odds via bet365

Mcneese state vs. gonzaga pick.

Gonzaga has been to the dance plenty of times, but this will be its lowest seed since 2016. McNeese State, on the other hand, is 3-1 against the spread as a tournament underdog.

The Cowboys understand the opportunity at hand to take down a big-name school in the first round.

  • Pick: McNeese State +6.5 (-110, bet365)

Utilize the Tribune’s latest bet365 bonus code to get the most out of your McNeese State vs. Gonzaga action.

(10) Drake vs. (7) Washington State

Probably the most intriguing matchup of the opening day is the final one as Drake tries to bounce back from its disappointing loss to Miami in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Oddsmaker disagree with the seedings in this game as they have installed higher-seeded Drake as a small favorite.

The Bulldogs took home the MVC title after their second straight spectacular season. Drake finished 14-4 in the conference and defeated top-seed Indiana State in the championship game.

Washington State was a nice surprise in the Pac-12 by finishing one game behind Arizona for first place. The Cougars defeated the Wildcats twice, while also beating Colorado and Oregon.

Drake’s best non-conference win came against Nevada, but the Bulldogs got blown out by Stephen F. Austin, Northern Iowa, and Belmont by double-digits in each game.

The Cougars’ final three regular-season losses came to California, Arizona State and Washington, but Wazoo went 5-1 against the spread in the last six opportunities as an underdog.

Drake vs. Washington State odds

  • Spread: Drake -1.5 (-105), WSU +1.5 (-115)
  • Total: Over 138.5 (-105), Under 138.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Drake -118, WSU -102

Odds via FanDuel

  • Pick: Washington State +1.5

For extra value betting Washington State, use the Tribune’s FanDuel Promo Code and get bonus bets as a new user welcome.

2024 NCAA tournament predictions to win March Madness regions, Final Four

the samples tour

Selection Sunday is officially behind us. We know who is playing who and the path each team would need to take in order to claim the 2024 national title. So, now the question looms "Who will it be?"

Whether you are trying to create that first bracket or just trying to win your office pool, there is plenty of intrigue surrounding who the experts having making Cinderella runs, representing each region in the Final Four, and of course, which team will win it all.

Obviously, trying to predict March Madness is near impossible. It is madness, after all. And there's a reason that nobody has ever been able to correctly predict a full bracket. Still, for those of us less familiar with the 2024 college basketball scene, these predictions could be exactly what we need in order to earn bragging rights for a year.

2024 March Madness Predictions:

East region:.

USA Today : UConn

Paul Myerberg writes, "Anyone other than UConn winning the region and going to the Final Four would be a big surprise. The Huskies are long, deep, explosive, dripping with athleticism and loaded with the sort of confidence you'd expect from the defending champs." Myerberg does like Florida Atlantic as a potential sleeper in this region, but seeing as how FAU would likely face UConn in the Round of 32, clearly he believes that this is UConn's region to lose.

FOX Sports : UConn

FOX Sports' John Fanta also likes UConn to come out of this region. It should be mostly a breeze for the reigning national champs too. That said, fans will be treated to a rematch of last year's national championship game between the Huskies and San Diego State Aztecs in the Sweet 16 if Fanta's predictions come true.

West Region:

USA Today : Arizona

Josh Peter writes, "Sure, the skeptics are howling: But Arizona lost two of its past three games! Including a 78-65 setback against lowly Southern California! Nonetheless, these Wildcats are built for an extended run thanks to a versatile eight-man rotation. Scoring? Got it. Arizona ranks third in scoring offense with 87.7 points per game. Caleb Love, the senior guard, leads the team in scoring at 18.1, and each of the team’s four other starters are averaging 9.8."

FOX Sports : Arizona

No love for the top seed North Carolina it seems. Fanta likes the Wildcats out of the West as well, with a matchup against UNC in the Elite 8.

South Region:

USA Today : Houston

Eddie Timanus writes, "One at least has to consider Kentucky in the No. 3 position. When their many talented scorers get going, the Wildcats are capable of beating anyone. But in the end we can’t go against top-seeded Houston. Despite the Cougars getting outmuscled in the Big 12 finale, they’ve been remarkably consistent all season in the nation’s deepest conference, and their defense-first approach should serve them well in the pressure-packed environment of March Madness."

FOX Sports : Houston

Once again, we see a match. Houston has undoubtedly been one of the most consistent teams in college basketball. It's hard to argue against them. While teams like James Madison and NC State could make a run, they certainly wouldn't be much of a match for a team as talented and proven as Houston.

Midwest Region:

USA Today : Purdue

Steve Berkowitz writes, "Given that the other team in NCAA Tournament history to lose in the first round as a No. 1 seed — Virginia — came back to win the national championship the following year, also as a No. 1 seed, how can you resist this one?"

FOX Sports : Tennessee

Our first mismatch. This is arguably the closest of any of the regions. Creighton has been one of the best teams all year and for them to be listed as a No. 3 seed, seems remarkably disrespectful. Still, FOX Sports likes the Tennessee Volunteers out of this region, defeating the Purdue Boilermakers in the Elite 8.

Final Four :

Paul Myerberg writes, "Anyone other than UConn winning the whole thing might be a big surprise, actually."

And it's hard to argue against him. UConn has been one of the deepest, most explosive, and most athletic teams we've seen in recent memory. Not only do they have the tools to reach the championship and win, but they clearly have the experience and know what it takes to do so.

UConn seems to be the runaway favorite for most experts and it's hard to disagree. UConn has dominated nearly every opponent they've faced, and they've faced several strong opponents.

Wallows Will Celebrate Album ‘Model’ With Their ‘Biggest and Best’ Tour Yet

  • By Tomás Mier

The boys of Wallows promised arena rock on their new album Model — and they are sticking to their word. On Monday, the alt-rock band announced tour dates in the United States and Europe for their upcoming Model World Tour, which includes stops at NYC’s Madison Square Garden and LA’s Kia Forum.

“I can confidently say this is the first time that I’m really anticipating a tour announcement ,” Dylan Minnette told Variety as they announced their tour dates, which include stops in Las Vegas, Boston, and San Diego. “I’m more nervous than ever — but not in a negative way. I know it’s going to go well. I know our fans show up but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it every day.”

Wallows announced their album Model in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this month, describing it as “very honest and authentic” and “imperfectly perfect.”

“We want this to be the most approachable album we’ve made. I want people to put this on if they’re not really a fan of us, and be gripped immediately,” Dylan Minnette said. “We don’t want to take too much of their attention, but we want to keep it. We keep them the whole time and make them want to come back.”

Joining the band on the road in the United States will be Benee, the Kiwi pop star responsible for “ Supalonely ,” “Glitter,” and “ Green Honda .”

Tickets for the shows go on sale to the general public on March 15 at 10 a.m. local time, while Wallows newsletter subscribers get first access to a presale starting on March 12 at 10 a.m.

Wallows

Wallows — the alt-rock trio  of Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston — will embark on the biggest global tour of their career starting later this summer.

“I can confidently say this is the first time that I’m really anticipating a tour announcement,” Minette tells Variety of the band’s 38-city tour comprised of their first-ever headlining performances at arenas including Madison Square Garden and the Kia Forum. “I’m more nervous than ever — but not in a negative way. I know it’s going to go well. I know our fans show up but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it every day.”

“At first, the film was something Live Nation [who is producing the tour] tasked us with. We had creative freedom and so we just wanted to see how far we could take it… and I think it’s fair to say it’s beyond what Live Nation was expecting,” says Minnette. “But at the end of the day, it is promotion for the tour. That’s what it is but we took it and made it this ironic, sort of meta thing.”

Directed by Nina Ljeti, the eerie video was shot at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum and is composed of several easter eggs for die-hard Wallows fans to piece together.

The film starts like a typical promo reel, with Minette discussing the first time he attended a show at the Kia Forum but quickly takes an ominous turn as the viewer follows three separate plotlines for each bandmate.

In the end, the trio is reunited, fueled by a mysterious glowing tent representing “what’s coming next for the Wallows, the future — which is unknown as of right now,” adds Preston. “In the scene where the light gets turned off and the other ones are blinking, it’s sort of us walking through what was the setup of our last tour and arriving to what’s next: a mystery.”

Other parts of the film are “completely random,” says Lemasters, whose love for golf is a prominent theme in his scenes. “Those details — for example, the choice of casting our friends — was almost like a nod to our fans who have been with us to say even though we are playing bigger spaces, we still share these memories and elements,” adds Minnette.

With more stage room to work with than their previous, 2022 tour, the ideas for the stage design are next level… and just a tad bit over budget. “I went big with my initial pitch,” says Minette, adding that they are still pinning down logistics. “We’ve landed on something that is an extension of what we are putting our visually right now.”

“The visuals for the album started to fall into place once we decided that the album was going to be called ‘Model,’ and once we started floating around ideas with [art director] Aidan Zamiri, the entire story started to make sense,” adds Lemasters, nodding that the nuances of what “Model” can mean — “Model home, Model citizen, Model album, etc.” also has a lot to do with the tour’s stage design.

By the time they finished the recording sessions for “Model,” Wallows had recorded 25 songs with John Congleton, who also produced the band’s 2019 debut LP “Nothing Happens.” The album’s second single, “Calling After Me,” is due to arrive on March 21.

“It sounds like what you would imagine or kind of hope that the Wallows would sound like,” says Preston. “It’s an easily accessible, kind of light on its feet but still intricate and precise record. We hope it gets our fans excited while also drawing in new listeners.”

Tickets for the “Model Tour” will go on sale to the general public on March 15 and Wallows newsletter subscribers will get first access to pre-sale tickets starting March 12 through March 14. See the complete tour routing below.
