Trip Summary

Four day premium champagne tour.

Our Premium Champagne tour is the ultimate trip for Champagne lovers! Across two full days of transported tours with a specialist guide, you will be welcomed as the guests of some of the region’s most prestigious Champagne Houses. You will see what goes on behind the scenes at each of these famous estates, allowing a unique insight into how some of the world’s most revered Champagnes are made.

We recommend arriving in Reims on a Thursday, the trip will start in true style at the oldest Champagne House, Ruinart. As well as meeting your Grape Escapes guide and the rest of the group, you will be taken on a guided tour of the estate and stunning cellars, which are classified as a historical monument. The tour will be followed by a first tasting of your choice between Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Ruinart rosé and their their flagship Prestige Cuvée Dom Ruinart, white or rosé. Pre-booked and pre-paid taxi transfers will be arranged to take you from your hotel to this visit.

On Friday morning, a chauffeured mini-coach and your Grape Escapes guide will collect you from your hotel and accompany you throughout the day on an unforgettable tour. The first visit of the day will take place at the estate of Champagne Bollinger in the village of Ay, for an exclusive tour of their cellars, and a tasting session of three Bollinger Champagnes.

You will then be taken out into the picturesque vineyards, where you will start your second tour of the day as the guests of a small, family-run Champagne House. As well as having a tour of the property with the estate’s charming and charismatic eighth generation owner and seeing first-hand the fascinating Champagne-making process from press to bottle, you will learn the Napoleonic art of Sabrage (the art of opening the Champagne bottle with a sword). Since you will each open a bottle you will then need to drink at least some of the Grand Cru Champagnes that have been opened.  A four course lunch will accompany the Champagne, served in the estate’s dining room. In the afternoon, you will visit a medium-sized co-operative, which produces excellent quality Champagnes from the Vallée de la Marne. Here, you will discover Champagne production on a more industrial scale, and your tour will conclude with a delicious Champagne and chocolate pairing experience.

The first stop on Saturday will be Champagne Veuve Clicquot. The Signature visit includes a full tour of the House, which was built over the historic chalk crayères extracted by the Romans, and of the cellars. The visit will conclude with a flute of the famous Yellow Label Champagne as well as a flute of the latest Veuve Clicquot vintage. The tour at Veuve Clicquot will be followed by a gourmet four course lunch in a highly-regarded restaurant.

Before heading to Epernay after lunch, we will take a short detour to the famous hilltop village of Hautvillers, the “cradle of Champagne.” As well as admiring the spectacular views across the vineyards, your guide will take you on a tour of the village, visiting places such as the Church where Dom Pérignon is buried. Finally, you will visit the largest and grandest Champagne house, Moët and Chandon, where you will have an exclusive Dom Pérignon tour. You will be visiting some of the oldest areas of the cellars which are seldom visited by the public and a tasting of Dom Pérignon will conclude the visit in an elegant reception room at the Moët mansion.

Outline Itinerary

Four day premium champagne tour.

 Day One of your Premium Champagne Tour

• Upon arrival in Reims at 14:00 at the latest, check into your chosen hotel.
• A pre-booked and pre-paid taxi will collect you from your hotel after settling in and escort you to Champagne Ruinart.
• Here, you will meet your Grape Escapes guide and the other Grape Escapes guests for a full tour of the estate and cellars, and tastings of two Ruinart Champagnes.
• You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the tour.
• In your travel pack will be a comprehensive list of recommended restaurants in the city centre. We would be pleased to recommend a restaurant and reserve you a table for dinner if required.

Day Two of your Premium Champagne Tour

• After breakfast, you will be met at the hotel by a chauffeured mini-coach and an English-speaking guide. Your tour day will comprise of:
• A visit to Champagne Bollinger for an exclusive tour of the estate, and tastings of three Bollinger Champagnes.
• A tour and convivial lunch at a small, family-run Champagne House. Here, you will also learn Sabrage!
• A visit to a medium-sized co-operative for a tour and Champagne and chocolate pairing experience.

Day Three of your Premium Champagne Tour

• In the morning, your chauffeur and guide will return to accompany you on a second day of tours. Your tour day will comprise of:
• A visit to Champagne Veuve Clicquot for a cellar tour and two tastings, including the latest Veuve Clicquot vintage.
• A gourmet four course lunch with drinks at a highly-regarded restaurant.
• A short tour of the beautiful hilltop village of Hautvillers with a stop at the church where Dom Pérignon is buried.
• An exclusive Dom Pérignon tour at Moët and Chandon with a flute of Dom Pérignon Champagne.

Final Day of your Premium Champagne Tour

• After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.

This 3-day experience in the Champagne region offers a unique tasting experience with visits to the best cellars and meeting real winemakers to taste some rare champagnes and create your own blend.

On Day 1, the tour will lead you to the big houses of Champagne. It begins with a private tour of Pommery champagne houses in Reims with a double tasting, Then a stop at Veuve Clicquot boutique before a 3-course French lunch with champagne is served in a traditional restaurant.  After lunch, the tour continues to Epernay, the capital of Champagne, where you will visit two more great houses, Mercier and Moet & Chandon, with a double tasting and shopping at each. 

On Day 2, the tour takes you on a tour of the world of small producers. First you will meet a first real winemaker and taste three of his champagnes: Brut, Rosé, Blanc de blancs, or Vintage. A special champagne lunch is served in a traditional French restaurant, accompanied by a champagne aperitif. After a drive through the vineyards and landscapes of Unesco listed Champagne, you will visit a second small Champagne producer with a large tasting session. The tour also takes you to magical places like a lighthouse, windmill, and unique forest.

Day 3 will make you live like a Champagne winemaker. This experience is unique. You will first experience the evolution of Champagne over time. From the latest vintage to a champagne over 25 years old! Then in the afternoon, you will create your own champagne and blend it just like a local winemaker.

DETAILED PROGRAM

Enjoy an all Champagne experience over 3 full days. You will live a unique tasting experience with the visits of the best big wineries,  and  the meetings with real people and winemakers to find the best. And the most important : enjoy unique tastings  rare bottles, unique place and old vintage Champagne !

I will collect you at the station or where you are staying in Reims or in Epernay and drive you safely all the day. I will first explain to you the planning of the day.

Then we will go and visit 2 big houses in Reims among Vve Clicquot, Pommery, Mumm, or Taittinger. We will do one total visit in one of these houses to make you discover the cellars and understand the champagne method. We will do the visit privately and not in a group. We will visit one of the other big champagne houses in Reims where I will tell you its story, you will take advantage of each Champagne house shop and have a tasting.

Then you will have a delicious french lunch with 3 courses with champagne in a traditional restaurant !

After lunch, we will drive across the vineyards of Champagne to Epernay, the Capital of the Champagne. You will see the UNESCO classified landscapes. Once in Epernay,  we will go to 2 other big houses in Epernay : Mercier and Moet & Chandon ! Visit one cellar and go tasting and shopping the other one.

You will be driven to the place where you stay in Reims or Epernay. ​

The 2nd day, I'll pick you up  for the discovery of the small producers world. 

You will meet a real winemaker or a winegrower. He will explain to you how he produces his own Champagne.  You will taste all the types of  his champagne : Brut, Rosé, Blanc de blanc, Blanc de noir and Vintage.

You will enjoy a  Champagne  French lunch in a restaurant or in the Champagne vineyards if we can picnic. All the food is homemade with local products from local producers. Then I will drive you in a convertible car across the vineyards and landscapes of Champagne.  Next, you will have another visit of a 2nd small producer of champagne totally different of the 1st one with a great tasting. You will next discover magical places : like a Lighthouse, or a windmill, or a unique type of trees and more. 

The 3rd day you will learn all about the best Champagne. 

You will discover the taste of the clear wines of Champagne before trying to do the best blend you can. Cleared wines of the year but also reserved wine. My friend winemaker will guide you between freshness, fruitiness and structure. After the blend, we will play with a bottle just disgorged to add few drops of liquor to find the best swetness balance for you. 

After a delicious lunch we will go to Epernay to visit the Dom Perignon cellars. These cellars are not usualy opened to visits but you'll have the priviledge to enter in and see all the Dom Perignon bottles ageing. After the tour in the cellars you'll have a tasting of the last vintage of Dom Perignon Champagne commented by a sommelier. We'll have a stop on our way back Reims at the Abbaye where Dom Perignon was chief of cave and created the first bottle of Champagne in his cellar.

Then I'll drive you back to the station to catch your train or to your place in Reims with a lot of Champagne taste memories and bottles if you want !

Visiting Munger Place is like stepping back in time. Prairie Foursquare homes with broad porches line the tree-shaded streets. Neighbors know each other, there are always events, and the feeling of community is palpable. On Saturday, you can experience all of this at the Munger Place Wine Walk and Home Tour.

Munger Place History

Munger Place was developed in 1905 by Robert S. Munger and his son Collett as the ultimate family neighborhood with every amenity and great proximity to downtown. It was also the first deed-restricted neighborhood in Texas , meaning the homes had requirements and uniformity. 

The neighborhood was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and was designated as a Dallas Landmark District in 1988. The Historic District status ensures the neighborhood retains its original feel. The five streets that form the Munger Place Historic District are designated by sign-toppers and street lighting in the fashion of the early 1900s.

This year, six historic homes in Munger Place will be on tour, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of East Dallas and local schools. 

Elizabeth Mast, a Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Realtor and the owner of Talulah & Hess has sponsored the tour for many years. This year, she is sponsoring 5004 Tremont, which has a significant transformation story the docents can tell you about.

“It’s such an intimate home tour,” she said. “You really are able to capture that small-town feeling of what it was like to live here in the 1900s and how important community was and still is here.”

Guests that are 21 years of age or older may enjoy a small glass of wine, hand-selected by Jimmy’s Food Store or The Wine Therapist, at each home. We give our guests the option of purchasing tickets to taste either our standard or premium wines. Each paid ticket holder will also receive a Munger Place wine glass, compliments of Talulah & HESS, while supplies last.

Munger Place is offering two ticket options for the Wine Walk and Home Tour this year: online and at the event on April 20 from 2-6 p.m.

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Tahoe Music Alive announced its upcoming 2024 Series, which will captivate audiences with intimate performances in North Lake Tahoe.

Kicking off the series on May 4, 2024, at Fox Cultural Center in Kings Beach is Duo Violão Plus One. Rio de Janeiro-based guitarists and classically trained musicians Rogério Souza and Edinho Gerber and SF Bay area percussionist Ami Molinelli combine the choro tradition, Brazil’s first original musical genre, with improvisation, original compositions, and a jazz vocabulary.

Duo Violão Plus One is co-sponsored by the North Tahoe Chamber and Tahoe Music Alive in collaboration with Musica Sierra, and partially funded by the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program.

The North Tahoe Chamber reinvests funds generated by local businesses to support community vitality, environmental stewardship, and economic health in North Lake Tahoe.

“The remarkable diversity of musical genres in this year’s concert series lineup, ranging from classical to jazz and international music, is outstanding,” expressed Martha Russell, the founder of Tahoe Music Alive. “Each of these exceptional artists contributes something distinctive to the stage, and we look forward to offering music enthusiasts an unforgettable, intimate listening experience in the stunning backdrop of Lake Tahoe.”

I visited the 'Game of Thrones' studio 5 years after the series finale. The $37 tour reminded me why I love the show.

• I recently visited the Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Northern Ireland for $37.
• It offers an exclusive look at the HBO series , which spent millions of dollars on each episode.
• Even five years after the series finale, the studio is still a worthwhile experience for fans. 

It's been five years since the series finale of HBO's "Game of Thrones," but I'm as big a fan as ever.

When a work trip took me to Northern Ireland , I knew I had to detour to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour. By season eight, the HBO drama was spending $15 million per episode , and like any true fan, I wanted a behind-the-scenes look at where some of that money went — and what made the show so visually incredible.

The tour, located in one of the show's original filming locations , Linen Mill Studios, opened in 2022, and standard tickets cost £29.50, or about $37.

I wanted to see just how relevant the studio is today — especially in the lead-up to the new season of the "House of the Dragon" prequel series in June — and if the widespread passion of the fandom is still alive.

It felt like the studio was hidden in plain sight.

There's no onsite parking at the studio, so getting there felt like being escorted to some secret location. Luckily, the instructions were clear: Meet at The Boulevard, a large shopping district in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.

From there, a complimentary shuttle took me down a long, formal-looking driveway. It's easy to see how the studio remained low-key during its filming heyday — it's almost as if it's hidden in plain sight.

My excitement overflowed as I stepped off the bus to blasting theme music and a massive Game of Thrones Studio Tour sign. About 10 other visitors immediately began posing for photographs.

After the 10-minute shuttle ride, it took me a good five minutes to reach security and start the experience, but the atmosphere was already infectious. Even the staff seemed genuinely excited to greet me.

The impressive theming immediately drew me in.

After passing a dragon skull and armored "guard," the tour started with a green-screen photo while we waited for some dramatic doors to swing open.

A tour guide quickly explained the studio rules — mostly, no touching the exhibits (which were used during filming) and absolutely no photos of the pre-tour movie.

I won't spoil too much, but the short film gave me goosebumps. At the end, the screen parted, and we entered the studio from "beyond the wall."

The studio clearly takes immersion seriously.

On the other side of the screen, we were blasted by fog machines before standing toe-to-toe with the Wildlings. Everything was incredibly immersive.

This was one of my favorite rooms. It had elaborate costumes from the show , including coats laden with bones and oysters. I learned that some weighed up to 15 pounds.

I also caught a glimpse of Wun Wun — or, at least, the costume that 7-foot-1 Ian Whyte wore during filming. It supposedly took the actor three to five hours a day to transform into the giant.

It was fun to walk through the different memorable sets.

The studio is made up of a trail of set rooms, including Mess Hall in Castle Black, the Crypts of Winterfell, King's Landing, and the Great Hall of Winterfell.

Costumed mannequins stood in each room to mimic the real scenes from the show.

I learned a lot about the making of the show throughout the tour.

In addition to walking through the sets, I got an insight into the show's creation process.

The 30-foot dragon skull of Balerion the Black Dread took six weeks to make before being shipped to Spain for filming. While standing next to the masterpiece, I could hardly believe that something of its scale could be transported across Europe .

Equally staggering, we learned that the crew went through 52,000 bags of fake snow and 163 tons of propane (for pyrotechnic effects) throughout the series.

Hearing about these intense behind-the-scenes efforts brought the series' magic back to life and made the visit worthwhile for me.

Behind-the-scenes exhibits and interactive experiences made the experience even better.

Other rooms were dedicated to the show's costume design , music creation, and set design. There was even a sword display room that housed famous props like Arya's Needle.

I'd nearly forgotten about the significance of the show's many props before embarking on the tour. But I almost squealed at Jaime Lannister's golden hand.

There were activities throughout the tour, too, including adding your face to the Hall of Faces and creating your own sigil.

I was entranced up until the very end of the experience.

The tour finished at the Iron Throne, a dragon flitting behind the rubble on a digital back wall.

It was a fitting endpoint seeing as it was the location where Jon killed Daenerys, controversially culling her brewing tyranny and ending the series.

I don't think the "Game of Thrones" buzz is going to die down anytime soon.

The studio wasn't packed, but Northern Ireland tends to be a little quieter in February and busier during the Easter holiday and summer. Honestly, I was grateful I missed the heavier crowds.

Overall, the "Game of Thrones" fandom seems to be building momentum rather than slowing down — especially with the second season of "House of the Dragon" looming.

I saw plenty of visitors bringing their children, too, so love for the series seems to be getting passed down to the next generation.

Initially, £29.50 seemed steep to me. But comparably, it's cheap for a studio tour — the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London charges a base price of £53.50.

Plus, I thought it offered great value. It packed so much in and the staff's passion is evident, which makes all the difference for visitors.
