Aspire Awards to return in December

Travel Weekly’s luxury sister title Aspire has announced the return of its annual awards ceremony this year.

The Aspire Awards, which celebrate the achievements of the high-end travel sector, will be held on December 13 at new boutique hotel The Londoner in Leicester Square.

The evening will honour the dedication and determination shown by outstanding individuals and companies in the past 18 months, recognising the best brands, most passionate trade teams and most innovative agents in the luxury travel sector.

The entry process for this year’s Aspire Awards has been streamlined to make it easier and quicker, with categories updated to reflect the challenges faced by the industry.

Entries are now open and will close on August 18.

Aspire features writer Erica Bush said: “The Aspire Awards celebrate the best agents, brands and representatives in the luxury travel sector.

“As the industry continues to emerge from an extraordinarily challenging time, we believe the individuals and companies that have worked tirelessly to look after their clients, often for little or no reward, deserve this recognition more than ever before. We look forward to welcoming Aspire Travel Club members to this event and celebrating together once again.”

The Aspire Awards are being held in partnership with headline sponsor Celebrity Cruises. Other sponsors supporting the event include Air Charter Service, One&Only and Silversea Cruises.

Carrier honours top-performing agents at annual awards ceremony

aspire travel awards

Carrier recognised top agent partners at its annual A-List Awards last night (March 7).

The event was held at Bafta Piccadilly and honoured the agents who produced the highest revenue for the operator in 2023, which was its best trade sales year to date.

Alongside awards that recognised the top sellers by region, Carrier also gave out three accolades in Luxury Travel Designer of the Year categories, which were introduced last year.

Jen Lonergan, founder of The Luxury Traveller, won Luxury Travel Designer of the Year; Travelwise was awarded Retail Agent of the Year; and the title of High Street Agent of the year was presented to More Travel.

Carrier also recognised two of its own employees, Lucy Boardman and Lorraine Norcross, who each received an award for Outstanding Agent Support.

Clare Levy, of Different Planet Travel, won the operator's highly coveted Managing Director's award.

Carrier managing director Natasha Towey said: “Our annual awards ceremony is one of our most anticipated events of the year. The theme of this year’s awards was ‘family’, which felt very appropriate as our agent relationships are so very important to us.”

As well as the awards ceremony, dinner and a supplier showcase, the event also saw the unveiling of Carrier’s latest charity partnership, in collaboration with Cambodian non-profit organisation Shinta Mani Foundation.

Guests were given the opportunity to win a six-night stay in Cambodia by donating to the foundation. Carrier confirmed the total figure raised from agents’ donations was £1,430, with Carrier promising to match this amount.

Rick Milne, Carrier’s head of sales, said: “It’s been a real honour to have the Shinta Mani Foundation as our charitable partner for this year’s A-List Awards. We’re extremely aligned with their ethos, and they’re a driving force for change within the Cambodian community, uplifting individuals and families living below the poverty line.”
