Soul Travelling

What is Soul Travelling?

Soul travel, as mentioned above, is an out-of-body experience where the traveller’s conscious body leaves his/her physical body and travels to a different realm. Many religious practices and scriptures have described soul travel in detail.

Soul travellers describe their experience as leaving their physical bodies and floating or hovering over them. They report meeting entities (including angels or the deceased) and visiting different locations they have never physically been to. They gain profound insights from these travels and can solve complex problems in real life.

It is believed that Nikola Tesla, Einstein, Edison, and other great inventors all soul-traveled which helped them solve complex scientific problems.

What Happens In Soul Travel? Is It The Same as Astral Projection?

People often confuse soul travel with astral projection. In reality, the two are very different. Astral projection is done with the help of the astral body (also called the subtle body or the energy body), whereas soul travel involves the light body. In astral travel, the subtle body leaves the physical body (either through lucid dreaming or meditation), but the traveller remains aware of her/his physical body.

In soul travel, you travel with your light body . It involves raising the vibrations so you are at the same frequency as the highest source. You achieve this through unconditional love. The main difference between astral and soul travel is that, in soul travel, the light body also encompasses the astral body and the traveller does not remain aware of his/her physical body.

Here are some experiences you could have during soul travel:

  • Sense of separation – you might get a sense of detachment from the physical body. Some people report floating or hovering over their physical bodies.
  • Visit to different realms – Soul travellers report visiting different realms and dimensions. These realms have a dream-like quality.
  • Encounters and meetings – a soul traveller might meet different entities and spirit guides on their travels. These could be angels, deceased loved ones, and spirit guides. These entities guide the traveller and give him/her a deep insight into any answers they seek.
  • Loss of time – soul travellers often lose the sense of time as time is not linear during these journeys.
  • Heightened perception – soul travellers experience bright and vivid colours, sounds, and sensations they have never experienced in real life.
  • A deeper understanding of the self and heightened spiritual awareness – soul travellers often get deep insights into questions about their higher purpose and report having a spiritual awakening. They get a deeper understanding of reality and their true nature and selves. They come back with greater wisdom and knowledge.
  • Lasting bliss – once the soul traveller comes back to the physical realm or back into the body, they feel joy bubbling from their core. They report feeling a high, not very different from an orgasm or climax. This joy bubbles through their being and every cell. Life becomes beautiful.

What Are The Benefits of Soul Travel?

Soul travellers often experience several benefits in their spiritual, personal, and professional lives. Anecdotal reports suggest that the practice could have the following advantages:

Deeper Understanding of The Self

Soul travel can connect you with the divine consciousness. This helps you become aware of things and concepts beyond the physical realm. A soul traveller could experience expanded consciousness and get a deeper understanding of the self, life, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Spiritual Growth

Soul travel can lead to spiritual awakening and growth. The traveller gets to explore realms beyond the physical. Many travellers encounter their angels or spiritual guides, who help them gain insights into the nature of existence and the afterlife.

Physical and Emotional Healing

Since travellers gain insights into their bodies and minds, they can heal themselves from diseases and emotional trauma. They get connected with their spirit guides, who guide them into spiritual, physical, and emotional healing.

Alleviated Fear of Death and After-Life

Death is one way of soul travelling (since the soul leaves the physical realm after death). With soul travel, you get to experience the concept of heaven without dying. Travellers get an understanding of the continuity of life and with the help of their angels, they can accept the cycle of life and death. Many travellers also report meeting their deceased loved ones, which fosters a sense of love and connection and brings immense peace and happiness.

Personal and Professional Development

Astral and soul travel can help you develop empathy for all those around you. They give you an understanding of the fact that we are all connected through a higher consciousness. This helps you see people and relationships in a different light. This can help you develop amazing relationships.

Furthermore, soul travels encourage creativity, problem-solving, and intuition. They can help you solve complex issues and give you a greater sense of empowerment. These enhanced skills can also help you in your professional life.

Lasting Joy and Bliss

Soul travels allow you to have unique and beautiful experiences. You get to journey to different planes and exciting places. These mental adventures can give you a “high” without drugs and eternal bliss and joy that extend into your daily life.

What is the Importance of Soul Travel?

Soul travel is important because it gives an individual insight into his/her true purpose. It helps them view humanity with greater empathy. At the core of soul travel is unconditional love. This unconditional love can help human beings connect and look beyond race, gender, and other differences.

By journeying beyond the confines of the physical body, soul travellers get deeper insights into human existence. They explore facets of themselves that might be hidden in the routine of everyday life. This quest for understanding often leads to greater alignment with personal missions, values, and a sense of purpose.

Soul travel can help human beings see the interconnectedness of life. Through soul travel, humans can develop a deeper appreciation for the shared human experience – which can promote love, compassion, and understanding.

At the core of soul travel is unconditional love, which transcends ego and judgment. It can help provide a profound sense of unity and bliss. Imagine if every human got this experience; we could perhaps solve wars and conflicts with compassion, kindness, empathy, and understanding.

How Can I Soul Travel?

Step 1: chanting a mantra.

Mantras are sacred sounds or phrases used to focus the mind. Some practitioners receive mantras from a guru or spiritual master. If you don’t have a guru, you can use commonly used mantras like “Om” to help centre your thoughts and create a meditative state.

Step 2: Setting Intention

Clearly define where you wish to go or what you aim to explore during the soul travel experience. It could be a specific destination or a realm you wish to visit. Focus your mind on this destination.

Step 3: Meditation or Concentration

Engage in meditation or concentration practises. This involves sitting quietly, relaxing your body, and calming your mind. Concentrate on your breath or a point of focus. You can also do guided meditations available online. We will discuss some meditation techniques later in this guide.

Step 4: Listening to Inner Sounds

As you meditate or concentrate, listen for inner sounds, particularly those related to the mantra you are chanting. The goal is to attune your awareness to these subtle inner vibrations or sounds associated with the mantra. It is not just about hearing with your physical ears but also perceiving these sounds within your consciousness.

Techniques for Soul Travel

Different meditation techniques have helped people transcend to other realms:

Guided Light Meditation

This meditation is aimed at activating the crown and root chakras while invoking unconditional love.

  • Find a quiet, comfortable space to sit or lie down.
  • Close your eyes and take deep, calming breaths, allowing your body to relax completely.
  • Take your attention upward to your crown chakra, located at the top of your head. Visualise a loving golden light here. With each inhale, imagine this light intensifying, opening up your connection to higher consciousness (the source) and divine love. Feel a sense of spiritual expansion, transcendence, and connection to the universe.
  • Imagine this light travelling down to your root chakra, located at the base of the spine. Imagine the chakra glowing red and light expanding with each breath, grounding you to the earth.
  • Allow the light to enhance feelings of security, stability, and a sense of belonging. Feel the connection to the earth’s energy and unconditional love supporting you.

How to Soul Travel

Two Pyramid Technique

  • Find a comfortable seated position. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths to relax.
  • Visualise a pyramid-shaped energy field inside you. Imagine the base of the pyramid resting at your hips, extending upwards, with the tip reaching your crown chakra (top of the head).
  • Imagine another pyramid within your body, with its base at your heart and its tip pointing downward, grounding into the earth. Continue deep breathing while holding this visualisation.
  • Visualise a golden, loving orb of light encompassing both pyramids. Feel this radiant light fill your entire being with unconditional love and warmth.
  • Imagine the pyramids and the golden orb of light spinning gently and harmoniously. As they rotate, visualise this loving energy expanding and permeating your entire body, infusing every cell with pure, unconditional love.
  • Extend this feeling of love beyond yourself, sending it out to envelop the entire planet. Visualise the Earth bathed in this golden light, radiating love and healing energy to all beings.

Third Eye/Pineal Gland Activation

  • Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
  • Close your eyes and take several deep, calming breaths. Relax your body by releasing tension with each exhale.
  • Bring your attention to the area between your eyebrows, often referred to as the third eye or the location of the pineal gland. Visualise deep indigo or purple-coloured energy centre in this area.
  •  Imagine a bright, radiant, loving light or a glowing ball of light at the centre of your forehead, activating and energising your third eye.
  • Focus on your breath. Inhale and exhale naturally while directing your attention to the third eye area. Imagine the breath flowing in and out of this centre, cleansing and energising it.
  • If needed, chant your guru mantra or Om/AUM.
  • Allow your mind to become still and observe any sensations, images, or insights that arise without attachment or judgement. Be open to receiving messages or guidance.
  • See unconditional love flowing through your body. Send this love to the planet.

 Build a Daily Practise

Practise these techniques daily. You can also do reality checks to see if you are dreaming or awake. These checks can help you enter lucid dream states, which help the astral body and light body travel to different realms.

You can also visualise a scene from your past while changing something in that scene – like wind blowing or people moving, etc.

Keep your vibrations high while keeping up with the daily chanting, visualisations, and meditations.

Key Takeaways – How To Soul Travel

Soul travel is a method of realising your soul’s true purpose or discovering your true essence or true self.

To perform soul travel, you need to build a daily meditation practice, such as chanting your guru mantra given to you by your spiritual teacher or master. You also need to practise raising your vibration through unconditional love. Meditate on your pineal gland or use the two-pyramid technique. Do these practises daily and you will surely realise your true essence.

What is Soul Travel? The Science and Spiritual Aspects of Out-of-Body Experiences

What Is Soul Travel?

Have you ever felt like you were somewhere else, even though your body was physically present in another location? If so, you may have experienced soul travel. Soul travel is the phenomenon of a person’s soul or consciousness leaving their body and traveling to another location, either in this world or in another dimension.

Soul travel is a fascinating and mysterious phenomenon that has been reported by people from all cultures and time periods. While there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of soul travel, there are a number of anecdotal accounts that suggest that it is possible.

In this article, we will explore the concept of soul travel, examine the evidence for and against its existence, and discuss the implications of soul travel for our understanding of consciousness and reality.

“`html

Soul travel, also known as astral projection or out-of-body experience (OBE), is the belief that the soul or consciousness can separate from the body and travel to other realms or dimensions. Soul travel has been a part of human culture for centuries, and there are many different theories about how it occurs.

Some people believe that soul travel is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the body is in a state of deep relaxation or meditation. Others believe that it is a spiritual experience that can be achieved through prayer or other religious practices. Still others believe that soul travel is a paranormal phenomenon that can be induced through hypnosis or other means.

No matter what the cause, soul travel is a fascinating phenomenon that has captured the imagination of people for centuries. In this article, we will explore the history of soul travel, different theories about how it occurs, and the evidence for and against its existence.

History of Soul Travel

The idea of soul travel can be found in the religious and spiritual traditions of many cultures around the world. In ancient Egypt, for example, it was believed that the soul could travel to the afterlife after death. In Hinduism, the soul is believed to be capable of traveling between different realms of existence. And in Buddhism, the concept of astral projection is used to explain how the Buddha attained enlightenment.

In the Western world, the idea of soul travel was popularized by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg in the 18th century. Swedenborg claimed to have had out-of-body experiences in which he traveled to other worlds and dimensions. His writings inspired a number of other spiritualists and mediums who claimed to have had similar experiences.

In the 20th century, the interest in soul travel continued with the work of parapsychologists such as Dr. Raymond Moody and Dr. Elisabeth Kbler-Ross. Moody’s book, Life After Life, documented the near-death experiences of hundreds of people who claimed to have had out-of-body experiences. And Kbler-Ross’s book, On Death and Dying, explored the different stages that people go through when they are facing death.

Today, the interest in soul travel is still strong. There are a number of organizations and websites dedicated to the subject, and there are even workshops and retreats that offer people the opportunity to learn how to have out-of-body experiences.

Different Theories of Soul Travel

There are a number of different theories about how soul travel occurs. Some of the most common theories include:

  • The separation theory: This theory holds that the soul is a separate entity from the body, and that it can separate from the body during sleep or meditation.
  • The energy theory: This theory holds that the soul is a form of energy, and that it can travel through different dimensions or realms of existence.
  • The holographic theory: This theory holds that the soul is a hologram, and that it can project itself into different dimensions or realities.
  • The dream theory: This theory holds that out-of-body experiences are simply dreams, and that they do not represent a real journey of the soul.

There is no one definitive theory about how soul travel occurs. However, the different theories offer a glimpse into the different ways that people have tried to understand this fascinating phenomenon.

Evidence for and Against Soul Travel

There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of soul travel. However, there are a number of anecdotal reports from people who claim to have had out-of-body experiences. These reports often describe similar experiences, such as feeling weightless, floating above the body, and seeing the world from a different perspective.

Some researchers believe that out-of-body experiences are simply dreams, and that they do not represent a real journey of the soul. However, other researchers believe that out-of-body experiences are real, and that they provide evidence for the existence of soul travel.

Ultimately, the question of whether or not soul travel is real is a matter of faith. There is no scientific evidence to prove or disprove its existence. However, the anecdotal evidence from people who claim to have had out-of-body experiences suggests that it is a real phenomenon that is worth exploring.

3. Evidence for Soul Travel

There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of soul travel. However, there are a number of anecdotal reports of people who claim to have had out-of-body experiences (OBEs), near-death experiences (NDEs), and other experiences that they believe to be evidence of soul travel.

Out-of-body experiences (OBEs) are reported by a small number of people who claim to have temporarily separated from their physical bodies and observed themselves from a distance. OBEs are often associated with sleep paralysis, which is a temporary inability to move or speak that can occur as a person is falling asleep or waking up.

Near-death experiences (NDEs) are reported by people who have come close to death but have been revived. NDEs often involve feelings of peace and tranquility, out-of-body experiences, and visions of deceased loved ones.

Other experiences that have been interpreted as evidence of soul travel include lucid dreams, reincarnation, and mediumship. Lucid dreams are dreams in which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. Reincarnation is the belief that a person’s soul can be reborn into a new body after death. Mediumship is the ability to communicate with spirits of the deceased.

The evidence for soul travel is anecdotal and inconclusive. There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of soul travel, but there are a number of people who believe that they have experienced it.

Soul Travel: Exploring Higher Spiritual Dimensions

Home » Soul Travel: Exploring Higher Spiritual Dimensions

soul-travel-exploring-higher-spiritual-dimensions

For many, astral projection is the entry point to spiritual realms. However, this phenomenon only takes you to the lower spiritual realms. There are higher spiritual experiences that involve the mental body, and even better—the soul’s body. These spiritual travels are known commonly as “soul travel.”

Soul travel , a mystical concept deeply rooted in spiritual and metaphysical traditions, offers a journey through various planes of existence, transcending the earthly realm and venturing into higher spiritual dimensions. These planes are typically categorized into seven major levels, with some scholars expanding this framework to include a total of twelve planes.

At its foundational level, we encounter the earthly plane, which represents our physical reality, the very realm where our bodies engage with the material world. It is here that our journey begins, rooted in the tangible experiences of our daily lives.

Just above the earthly plane lies the lower spiritual planes, acting as a vital bridge between the physical and higher spiritual dimensions . This transitional realm serves as a pivotal stepping stone toward higher spiritual insights and experiences. As we continue our ascent, we progress through the Intermediate Spiritual Planes, characterized by heightened intuition, a deeper connection to spiritual energies, and an expanding awareness of our own spiritual essence.

Beyond this, the journey leads us to the higher spiritual planes, where profound spiritual insights await, along with an enriched sense of purpose and destiny. The ethereal planes follow, offering a deep connection with universal love and a profound understanding of cosmic wisdom, elevating one’s state of spiritual consciousness. In the celestial planes, unity with the divine and an overwhelming sense of oneness with all creation is experienced, often leading to profound spiritual mastery and enlightenment.

Finally, the ultimate destination in this spiritual odyssey is the divine plane, where individuals are believed to attain a state of pure spiritual awareness , gaining deep insights into the very nature of existence and experiencing the highest spiritual principles.

By embracing the existence of these planes, we open the door to a broader perspective on our spiritual selves and our place in the universe. Whether we’re rooted in the tangible experiences of the earthly plane or ascending to the highest realms of the divine plane, the exploration of these spiritual dimensions offers profound insights, heightened consciousness , and a deeper connection with our inner selves and the cosmos.

What Is Soul Travel?

the travel of soul

Understanding Soul Travel

Here are questions Sri Harold Klemp has been asked about Soul Travel and exploring the worlds we experience on our Soul Travel Adventures.

Read on for clues that may help you.

Why is it so important in Eckankar to learn Soul Travel?

Soul Travel, in a broad sense, is of much value because it is a link to the expansion of consciousness. The rule of destiny holds that people at some time will begin to awaken to who and what they are. A knowledge of past lives may also open to them by way of dreams or déjà vu. A few catch a glimpse of future events.

Note that Soul Travel means moving into the higher realms of God, to places people haven’t yet dreamed of. Soul Travel reveals a majesty and security that abounds in the arms of God alone.

For this reason, Soul Travel transcends astral or mind travel, and rote prayer, elevating one into profound spiritual areas. Whenever Soul reaches the far orbits of the inner planes through Soul Travel, the human heart opens to God’s all-consuming love.

It is our very purpose to discover that love.

What are the inner worlds like? What will I see?

the travel of soul

Those of you who are able to visit the higher worlds of God know there are places which beggar the largest mansion on earth. Some of the buildings and homes in the other worlds are of such beauty and size and light that anyone who gets there is in awe of the wonders that exist in creation.

These things exist. Anything that any human being can create here is a paltry, shabby, thatched-roof shack in comparison to the buildings in heaven.

If you have the ability to go to these other worlds—either in the dream state or through Soul Travel—you can have the experience and learn these realities for yourself.

You’ll find that the bounties of God are much greater than the four corners of this little earth. This earth is just a tiny little pebble in God’s worlds.

It’s a surprising thing, sometimes, that God even knows where this pebble is located in Its worlds.

It’d be like trying to find a certain grain of sand on the beach.

But that’s the language of love. God’s love is so great that It created every kind of abundance for those people who would make an effort to look for it and find it.

The language of love is the love God has for us and that we have for each other. We try to show this to those we love in some small way that gives this love back to God.

In this article, we will explore the benefits of soul travel and provide tips and techniques to help you have a successful soul traveling experience.

The Benefits of Soul Travel

Soul travel has many benefits, both spiritually and mentally. Here are some of the ways that soul travel can enhance your life:

Spiritual growth

Soul travel can help you connect with your spirit guides and receive messages from the universe. It can also help you understand your soul’s purpose and provide direction in life. Through soul travel, you can experience a higher level of consciousness and become more in tune with the universe.

Self-discovery

Soul travel is a powerful tool for self-discovery. By exploring the depths of your inner being, you can gain insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This increased self-awareness can help you identify areas of your life that need improvement, and allow you to make positive changes.

Soul travel can give you a new perspective on the world around you. By exploring different dimensions and realms, you can gain a deeper understanding of the universe and the interconnectedness of all things.

Tips for successful soul traveling experience

Before attempting soul travel, it’s essential to prepare your mind and body. Taking time to relax, meditate, and clear your mind will help you achieve a successful soul traveling experience. Here are some additional tips to help you prepare:

– Get enough rest: Make sure to get enough rest the night before your soul traveling experience. – Avoid alcohol and drugs: Avoid taking any substances before soul travel, as they can interfere with the experience. – Set your intention: Clarify your intention for your soul traveling experience. Do you want to connect with a loved one who has passed on? Or do you want to explore a new dimension? – Practice visualization: Visualize your soul leaving your body and traveling to your desired destination.

The Importance of Meditation

Meditation is an essential component of soul travel. It helps calm the mind and prepares the body for the experience. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you meditate:

1. Find a quiet place: Choose a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight.

2. Focus on your breath: Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

3. Clear your mind: As you breathe, observe your thoughts without judgment. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to your breath.

4. Visualize your destination: Once you’ve cleared your mind, visualize the destination for your soul travel experience. Imagine yourself arriving at your desired location and exploring the area.

Preparing the mind and body for soul travel experience

To prepare your mind and body for soul travel, it’s essential to enter a state of deep relaxation. Here are some additional tips to help you achieve this state:

– Practice progressive muscle relaxation: Tense and relax each muscle group in your body, starting at your toes and working your way up to your head. – Use aromatherapy: Use essential oils such as lavender or frankincense to promote relaxation. – Listen to calming music: Listening to calming music can help you achieve a state of deep relaxation.

Exploring Different Techniques

There are several different techniques for soul travel. Here are some of the most popular ones:

Lucid dreaming

Lucid dreaming is the practice of becoming aware that you’re dreaming while you’re still asleep. This awareness allows you to control your dreams and explore new realms. Lucid dreaming is an excellent technique for beginners as it’s easier to achieve than other forms of soul travel.

Astral projection

Astral projection is the practice of separating your soul from your physical body and traveling to different realms. Astral projection requires more advanced preparation and practice than lucid dreaming, but it can be a profound and transformative experience.

Guided meditation

Guided meditation is a form of meditation that’s led by a teacher or guide. It’s an excellent way to relax the mind and prepare for soul travel. Many guided meditations are specifically designed for soul travel and can be helpful for beginners.

Overview of each technique and how they work

While each technique differs in terms of preparation and practice, they all involve achieving a state of deep relaxation and separation from the physical body. During soul travel, you can explore different realms, connect with spirit guides, and receive messages from the universe.

Tips for successful practice

To have a successful soul travel experience, it’s essential to be patient and consistent in your practice. Here are some tips to help you along the way:

– Practice regularly: Set aside time each day to practice your chosen technique. – Keep a dream journal: Write down your dreams and experiences. This will help you remember your experiences and track your progress. – Remain focused: If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to your intention and focus on your breathing.

Overcoming Fear and Anxiety

Many people experience fear and anxiety when attempting soul travel. Here are some common obstacles and strategies for overcoming them:

Common obstacles to soul travel

– Fear of the unknown: Fear of the unknown is a common obstacle in soul travel. It’s essential to remember that you’re in a safe and protected space. – Fear of losing control: Many people fear losing control during soul travel. Remember that you can always return to your body if things become overwhelming. – Fear of negative entities: While it’s possible to encounter negative entities during soul travel, it’s important to remember that you’re in control and can protect yourself.

Strategies and advice for overcoming fear and anxiety

If you experience fear or anxiety during soul travel, here are some strategies to help you overcome them:

– Relaxation techniques: Use relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises or progressive muscle relaxation to calm your mind and body. – Visualization exercises: Visualize a protective shield around you or a light surrounding your body. This can help you feel safe and protected. – Seek support: Talk to a trusted friend or mentor about your experiences. They can provide guidance and support.

Connecting with Your Inner Self

Establishing a connection with your inner self is a crucial part of soul travel. Here are some tips for self-reflection and self-care:

Establishing a connection

– Spend time alone: Set aside time each day to spend alone and reflect on your thoughts and feelings. – Practice self-care: Take care of your body by getting enough rest, eating well, and exercising. – Trust your intuition: Listen to your intuition and follow your instincts.

Tips for self-reflection and self-care

– Journaling: Keep a journal to record your thoughts and experiences. – Creative expression: Express yourself through music, art, or writing. – Spend time in nature: Spend time in nature to connect with the earth and gain a deeper understanding of the universe.

Soul travel is a powerful tool for spiritual growth, self-discovery, and awareness. By practicing meditation, exploring different techniques, and overcoming fear and anxiety, you can connect with your inner self and explore new realms of the universe. Remember to be patient and consistent in your practice, and always trust your instincts. With time and practice, you can achieve a successful soul traveling experience.

In conclusion, soul travel is a fascinating and transformative experience that can enhance your life in many ways. By incorporating meditation, visualization, and self-care, you can connect with your inner self and explore the depths of the spiritual realm. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, soul travel can be a powerful tool for personal growth and spiritual enlightenment.

What exactly is astral projection here's what to know about the phenomena.

Sarah Regan

You've probably heard of lucid dreaming, and maybe even out-of-body experiences, but how about astral projection? The rare phenomena (which we can't actually confirm with science, btw) has been anecdotally recorded throughout history—with lore of how to do it and more recent accounts remaining today. Here's what to know.

What is astral projection?

Astral projection is an intentional out-of body experience (OBE) in which the "subtle" or "spirit" body travels outside the physical body at the whim of the individual. An out-of-body experience itself occurs when a person temporarily feels like their spirit or soul has left their physical body, often the unintentional result of an accident or near-death experience.

Through astral projection, it's said that someone essentially wills an OBE to happen, with common anecdotal experiences including feeling a vibration as your soul leaves your body, seeing your body lay in bed, and even traveling around your home, neighborhood, and beyond. (Some people even say astral sex is possible with another person astral projecting at the same time.)

Your soul never completely disconnects from your body, believed to be always connected by a "silver chord." And speaking of, accounts of an astral plane, astral projection, and this silver chord can be seen throughout numerous traditions, from Hinduism to Buddhism, Christianity to Kabbalistic teachings, and more.

According to  Graham Nicholls , an OBE researcher and author of  Navigating the Out-of-Body Experience , one theory is that an OBE is "a construct or schema that is based upon  sensory information not coming from the ordinary senses 1  (extrasensory perception, if you will)." When this happens, he explains, the self or one's consciousness seems to be able to function and perceive independently of the physical body.

While OBEs have most definitely been researched and proven to be a real phenomenon 2 , astral projection hasn't gotten that far, at least in the scientific community.

What the research says so far.

There are tons of online forums where everyday people describe their experiences entering the astral plane at will . But, for obvious reasons, very little scientific research has been conducted to see whether it's actually possible to mentally detach from the physical body. Matters of the soul are incredibly hard to study in a laboratory setting.

There is, however, one 2014 case study out of the University of Ottawa's School of Psychology, in which a woman who said she could astral project was put under a fMRI machine. The patient was physically stationary for an hour but guided in and out of astral projections in which she was prompted to move her nonphysical body in different ways. Researchers monitored the activity in different regions of her brain throughout the exercise and found that they did show activity that correlated with motion 1 during the times she claimed to be astral projecting.

"The existence of such a case and its presentation raises the possibility that this phenomenon may have a significant incidence," the study reads. "This would be reminiscent of the discovery and eventual study of synesthesia."

Eben Alexander, M.D. , a neurosurgeon, has also been the subject of research on out-of-body experiences and astral projection. In 2008, an inexplicable brain infection left Alexander in a weeklong coma. When he awoke, he claims to have had profound memories of a journey deep into another realm. Since then, he's dedicated his life to exploring the mysteries of human consciousness.

Though his near-death experience was not voluntary, it did cause Alexander to think astral projection was possible. He tells mbg he now uses binaural beats-based audio recordings to travel beyond the five senses and explore nonphysical aspects of consciousness.

The problem when it comes to declaring astral projection "real" or "fake" is that much of the information about it is anecdotal. Pinning down human consciousness within the realm of modern science has proved a very difficult (and potentially impossible) task.

Why it's difficult to prove.

When it comes to Western science and medicine, the burden of proof is heavy. Psychiatrist Roxanna Namavar, D.O. , who completed her residency at the University of Virginia's Division of Perceptual Studies (where Alexander's own near-death experience was actually studied), explains, "Fundamentally the scientific community in this country is very Westernized, very much based in 'What does the evidence say?'— and that can sometimes pull away our curiosity for things greater than ourselves."

Plus, she adds, there is no real way to definitively measure astral projections or compare them to a control group. Not to mention, studying these things requires someone with funding to have interest. And to that end, most people don't know how to astral project, so rounding up a solid sample size for research would be difficult.

These are some reasons why, she says, "There tends to be this split between science and spirituality," adding, "I don't think you can prove or disprove astral projection or out-of-body experiences."

How to try it yourself:

According to Nicholls, it would be best to learn to astral project with the help of a professional. There are also resources online, such as videos and guided meditations for astral projection that you can try.

More generally, though, Nicholls says you can help induce OBEs through techniques that break down your sense of self. For example, he suggests  visualization methods ,  breathing techniques , and even physical exhaustion, to get to the state of deep relaxation necessary to astral project. Once there, you can follow this sequence:

  • As you're laying in bed, start to work with the sensation of your  soul separating  from your body. You want to be completely relaxed, in a quiet, dark room. (Some say it's easier to astral project when you've woken up in the morning, as opposed to when you're going to bed, because you're more relaxed.)
  • From this dreamy state , with your eyes closed, start to visualize your body in your mind's eye, imagining you were moving different body parts, without actually moving them physically. You may start to feel vibration, which is fine.
  • From there, you make the move "out-of-body." This can take some trial and error, but once you feel it, look back at your body laying in bed. Explore around the room if you can, and return to your body. Once you've done this successfully, you can start traveling around your home, and even outside.
  • Always be sure return to the body when you're done exploring. Additionally, for extra protection, crystal expert Ashley Leavy previously recommended both obsidian and malachite for protection and aid in astral travel, so try holding one (or both) or putting them on your chest while you make the voyage.

The takeaway.

Research may never be able to confirm the existence of the astral plane , let alone astral travel, but countless people throughout history (and still today) swear it's happened to them. The only way to truly for sure is to give it a try yourself—happy traveling.

What is the Soul’s Journey?

January 22, 2024

Lauren Williams

A solitary traveller walking on a winding path through diverse landscapes.

Starting my exploration of the soul’s journey, I’ve realized it’s much more than a spiritual concept.

It’s a personal adventure, unique to each of us.

Every experience, every choice, shapes this journey. It’s about understanding our past and how it influences who we are now.

I find it empowering to think of myself as the creator of my soul’s path. It’s not just about destiny; it’s about making choices that define me.

This journey is a deep dive into who I am, uncovering layers of my purpose and true self.

So, let’s begin this exploration.

It’s a journey of discovery, growth, and potential transformation.

Table of Contents

What is your soul’s journey.

A man walks on the sand at the beach.

Your soul’s journey is an expansive and interesting concept, stretching far beyond the confines of a single lifetime. It encompasses the many lifetimes and experiences your soul undergoes, spanning across your life within the spirit world. This journey is not just about the physical experiences we encounter in our lives; it’s about the continuous evolution and growth of our soul through various incarnations and spiritual realms.

At its core, the soul’s journey is about the accumulation and understanding of experiences. Every action you take, every word you speak, and every emotion you feel contributes to this journey. It’s a path of learning, experiencing, and evolving. The real essence of the soul’s journey isn’t just about what defines it; it’s about how you choose to define and shape it with your actions and decisions.

This journey is also an overarching narrative that intertwines our physical incarnations with our existence within the spirit world. It’s a continuous flow, a path that your soul takes from its inception to its evolution into a fully empowered creator being. Unlike a predetermined route, each soul’s journey is unique, marked by individual choices, lessons, and experiences. This journey is your personal story of spiritual evolution and self-discovery.

Understanding the Purpose of the Soul’s Journey

When I think about what the soul’s journey means, it feels like it’s about finding our true purpose and learning from life’s experiences. It’s like each of us is on a personal mission to understand who we are and why we’re here. This journey isn’t just about the big milestones in life; it’s also in the small, everyday moments where we learn, grow, and change.

Every decision I make, every challenge I face, feels like a part of this journey. It’s as if with each step, I’m getting closer to understanding my true self. Sometimes, it’s hard to see the bigger picture, but I believe each experience, good or bad, teaches me something valuable.

This idea makes me look at life differently. I start to see each obstacle as a learning opportunity and each success as a step towards a greater understanding of myself. It’s a journey that’s unique for everyone. Our paths might be different, but we’re all trying to find our way, learn from our experiences, and grow as individuals.

Thinking about the soul’s journey this way makes it more than a spiritual concept; it becomes a practical approach to life. It’s about making choices that lead to personal growth and understanding, constantly evolving and adapting as we walk our unique paths.

Spiritual Journey vs. Soul’s Journey

A man walks to a lake that is split with an outline of water.

As we explore and understand our existence, it becomes clear that the spiritual journey and the soul’s journey, though distinct, are deeply interrelated. Each journey offers unique insights and experiences, yet they converge at a point of deep self-awareness.

This interconnection is where we find the I AM Presence, the unchanging core of our being that links our spiritual exploration with the evolution of our soul. Recognizing this interplay enhances our understanding of both journeys, allowing us to navigate our path more clearly and purposefully.

The Spiritual Journey

The spiritual journey is a personal and conscious quest for deeper understanding and connection with the spiritual aspects of life. It’s a path marked by exploration and discovery, where one seeks to understand the nature of the divine, the universe, and their place within it. This journey is unique for each individual, shaped by their beliefs, experiences, and the spiritual practices they adopt.

  • Exploration and Awakening : On this journey, individuals may explore various religious beliefs, engage in spiritual practices like meditation or yoga, and seek experiences that offer enlightenment and deeper understanding. It’s a process of continual learning and awakening, where each step brings greater insight into one’s spiritual nature.
  • Connection and Growth : The spiritual journey is also about developing a deeper connection with the self, others, and the universe. It involves recognizing and nurturing the spiritual essence within, which some might relate to the I AM Presence . This journey encourages personal growth, compassion, and a sense of interconnectedness with all things.

The Soul’s Journey

The soul’s journey, while intersecting with the spiritual journey, encompasses a broader scope of our existence. It is the path our soul takes through various lifetimes, gathering experiences, learning lessons, and evolving.

  • Continuity Across Lifetimes : This journey considers the soul’s continuity beyond our current life. It is about the evolution and learning that the soul undergoes across different incarnations, with each lifetime contributing to the soul’s growth and understanding.
  • Learning and Purpose : The soul’s journey is deeply connected to the lessons we learn and the experiences we accumulate. It’s about understanding the deeper purpose of our soul and the journey it takes to achieve its ultimate goals. This path is less about conscious seeking and more about the soul’s innate drive to evolve, learn, and fulfill its purpose.

While both journeys are integral to our growth and self-realization, the spiritual journey is about our conscious search for spiritual meaning in this lifetime, and the soul’s journey encompasses the soul’s continuous evolution across various lifetimes.

Understanding their distinct yet interconnected nature helps us appreciate the depth and breadth of our journey towards self-awareness and fulfillment.

The Soul as a Lifelong Student

The concept of the soul’s journey portrays our soul as a lifelong student, enrolled in the ever-evolving curriculum of life. This perspective views every experience, whether joyous or challenging, as a learning opportunity for the soul.

  • Learning Through Life’s Experiences : Our lives are filled with a variety of experiences, each holding multiple possibilities for growth and understanding. The soul, as a student, absorbs lessons from every interaction, relationship, and situation. These lessons contribute to the soul’s evolution, helping it to grow wiser and more mature with each lifetime.
  • The Soul’s Curriculum : The curriculum for the soul encompasses all aspects of human experience. From the trials we endure to the moments of happiness we cherish, every aspect of life teaches the soul something valuable. This process of learning is continuous and does not end with physical death, as the soul carries its wisdom into future incarnations.

The Process of Inner Exploration

The soul’s journey is deeply introspective, involving a process of inner exploration to understand the depths of our being. This exploration is essential for the soul to become ‘all knowing’ about its nature and purpose.

  • Connecting with the Soul : This journey requires us to connect deeply with our inner selves, listening to the subtle whispers of our soul. It’s about going beyond the surface of our conscious mind to explore the deeper aspects of who we are. This exploration often leads to surprising discoveries about our strengths, desires, and life’s purpose.
  • Inner Answers and Guidance : The process of inner exploration allows us to find answers to our deepest questions and guidance for our life’s path. The insights we gain from this journey are unique to us, as they are based on our soul’s individual experiences and lessons. This inner guidance is invaluable, helping us to navigate life with greater clarity and understanding.

In exploring our soul as a lifelong student and delving into the process of inner exploration, we come to realize the depth and richness of the soul’s journey. It’s a path that not only encompasses learning from life’s experiences but also involves a deep dive into the essence of our being, uncovering the wisdom and knowledge that lie within.

Stages Of Your Soul’s Journey

3 people on the beach with soul spirits ascending behind them.

1. Awakening

The first stage of the soul’s journey is often marked by an awakening. This is a moment or period where there is a significant shift in awareness, leading to a deeper questioning of life’s purpose and one’s true self. It’s a stage of realization where the soul starts to see beyond the mundane aspects of daily life and seeks a deeper meaning.

2. Exploration

Following the awakening, the soul enters a phase of exploration. This stage is characterized by seeking knowledge, understanding different spiritual paths, and experimenting with various practices. It’s a time of curiosity and openness, where the soul is eager to learn and experience new things.

3. Challenge

The challenge stage involves facing and overcoming obstacles that are essential for the soul’s growth. These challenges can be internal, like confronting personal fears or limiting beliefs, or external, such as navigating difficult life circumstances. This stage strengthens and refines the soul, preparing it for further evolution.

4. Enlightenment

Enlightenment is a pivotal stage where the soul gains significant insight or understanding. This doesn’t necessarily mean reaching a final state of total enlightenment, but rather experiencing moments of clarity and profound realization that fundamentally change the soul’s perspective and approach to life.

5. Integration

After enlightenment, the soul enters the integration stage. Here, the insights and lessons learned are assimilated into everyday life. This stage is about living the wisdom gained, applying new understanding to daily actions, relationships, and decisions. It’s a process of aligning one’s life with the soul’s true purpose.

6. Contribution

In the contribution stage, the focus shifts from personal growth to serving others. The soul, having gained wisdom and understanding, now looks to share this with the world. This can manifest in various forms, such as teaching, healing, or engaging in acts of compassion and service.

7. Completion

The final stage is completion, where the soul reaches a sense of fulfillment in its journey. This doesn’t imply the end of growth but signifies a phase where the soul has achieved its major objectives for a particular lifetime. It’s a time of reflection, gratitude, and understanding the interconnectedness of all life.

Each stage of the soul’s journey offers unique lessons and opportunities for growth. Understanding these stages helps us to navigate our own journey with greater awareness and purpose.

Reflecting On Your Journey

A man looks out to mountains that look infinite.

It’s important to remember one fundamental truth: we are in control of our journey. This realization empowers us to embrace each stage with intention and purpose.

Our journey is ours to shape. Every decision we make, every challenge we face, is an opportunity for growth and learning. It’s a reminder that we are the architects of our soul’s evolution.

Reflecting on this journey, I’m struck by our profound responsibility. It’s not just about moving through life passively; it’s about actively engaging with our soul’s growth.

We own our journey. This ownership isn’t about control in a rigid sense, but about embracing our power to influence our path. It’s about making choices that resonate with our deepest selves.

In this journey, every moment is significant. From the major crossroads to the seemingly small decisions, each step shapes our soul’s narrative.

Looking ahead, the journey continues. It’s an ongoing process of discovery, growth, and transformation. With this understanding, we can approach each new day as an opportunity to further our soul’s evolution.

Remember, your soul’s journey is a reflection of your innermost self. How you navigate it is your greatest expression of personal power and purpose.

Are You an Initiate of the Secret Mysteries?

Soul Travel at Night Takes Us through Many Levels

Soul Travel at Night Takes Us through Many Levels

Soul travel, our journeying at night, takes us through many levels – etheric, astral or simply dreaming.

Elizabeth Clare Prophet Talks About Soul Travel and Dreams

What you eat before you retire may affect how you sleep, your dream state and the kind of dreams you have. Other influences may include such things as the temperature of the room, proper air flow or the proximity to other people whose vibrations may be different.

When you retire, you hope you are leaving your physical body and going forth. But sometimes due to the tensions and pressures of life, we stay very close to our bodies.

Sometimes when the body is in danger, we stay close. In the process of being close to home, we may not get any farther out of the physical body than into the astral body, particularly when we have difficulties in sleeping.

On the other hand, you may be journeying in the etheric, but the journey is like a knife passing through a cake—sometimes it comes out clean and sometimes it has a little cake and icing on it after it has passed through.

And so, when you pass through the different planes, you pick up impressions of those planes, and that is what may be quivering or vibrating on the portion of us that dreams—the residue of passing through.

You may go into the etheric octave and be in a very deep sleep where you are having experiences at inner levels. But you may return and pass through the cities, pass through the earth. You may pass through the levels of your own soul's evolution, where a tea party may not be an actual tea party but a symbolical way in which your Christ Self, your Higher Self, is teaching your soul a lesson.

All Kinds of Dreams

There are all kinds of dreams. And one way of looking at them is to understand that a character in the dream may represent your soul. Most often that character isn't you, it's someone else in the dream. By objectively observing this other character, you may be observing something happening to your soul that your Higher Self wants you to know. So, it could be an astral kind of a dream. It could be a chase. It could be all kinds of topsy-turvy, Alice-in-Wonderland things. But there's a thread running through it. Your conscious mind is not ready to accept the lesson, so in the dream state the lesson comes through the subconscious, which has no barriers to incongruities. When you wake up, if you write down this dream, you may receive the interpretation of it.

Elizabeth Clare Prophet's Dream

Now, I had an interesting dream once in which I figured myself with a young child. I was in the ocean with this child, and she fell down in the water and was drowning. She was going deeper and deeper into the water, and I dived after her and saved her from drowning. The lesson of the dream was that the child was my own soul, and my own soul was drowning in a particular circumstance that I was allowing to continue in my life. My interpretation of the dream was that I, in the person of my Christ Self and my conscious mind, would go after and save my own soul. I would see to it that my soul was not left to drown in an unjust and insupportable circumstance. I came to the realization one day, when this whole situation was through, that while I had been trying to save another soul, it was my own soul that could have been lost. And so, I realized that my soul had been saved by the love of God and by my own determination of right action.

Dreams are Teachings

There are all kinds of situations in dreams. They are actual teachings if you can pull the threads of them together. But the unpleasant things and all kinds of details that make no sense are like the cake on the knife if you've been traveling and are coming back—or even if you never did travel but just hung around the astral plane because of some impurity of your body or mind. All of these things can happen in one night because it doesn't actually take that long to go to an etheric retreat and come back….

Soul Travel – The Astral and Etheric Planes Are Different!

There is a conflict of terms in different writings about the astral and etheric planes. In the etheric plane, there is a lower etheric level that contains the perversions of the memory of God, or the records that are not of the light. So you might say there's a lower and a higher etheric plane, and the lower one has a certain correspondence to the astral plane and the astral body….

Life is a Schoolroom and We Have Free Will

There's an amazing thing about life—there is nowhere you can go and read a rule book that comes up with a perfect answer to every equation. We have all this teaching, and the teaching itself is like input in the computer of our Christ consciousness. We have all the vastness of the teaching and certain elements are brought to bear on certain situations. Because of our divine experience, our ongoing experience of thousands of embodiments of being chelas* of the masters, we have a set of experiences, a set of teachings. And then we have a Christ mind, which is infinite. When we meditate on that mind and on the experience and the teaching, we arrive at the best possible way of dealing with a situation. Sometimes we make a misjudgment or a miscalculation, and we learn by our mistakes. That's the nature of the schoolroom we're in and the nature of free will. But even that becomes a part of our cosmic computer of divine knowledge. That's our personal gnosis. We're not going to make that mistake again because it was very costly. So in the mistakes as well as in the victories, we forge our Christhood. That's why it takes time to become Christlike, because you become that by free will and by experience. It just isn't brought down upon you like some kind of a machine that is superimposed upon you and all of a sudden you're there.

Night Classes and Nightmares

On another occasion a student asked Mrs. Prophet about nightmares. She replied:

Some dreams are recollections of experiences in the temples of light . They will be very high. They will be full of light. You may remember an experience of being in a classroom studying. This means that as you were leaving your body, your soul rose into your etheric envelope. And in your etheric envelope, you slid right through the astral plane and the mental plane to get into the etheric level, where the masters' retreats are. Soul Travel Needs Spiritual Protection Now, astral nightmares are a different matter. If you don't have your protection on or if you've had an argument or discord in your house before you go to bed, then when you are leaving your body, you kind of get caught in the astral. You don't slide through with your energy field of protection. You get caught there and you start dreaming about the astral plane or episodes in your own astral body that are coming to the fore. Now another circumstance of dreams may be that you get out just fine. You go up to the masters' retreats. Around five or six in the morning, you come back to your body. But as you return, you don't get through the astral debris. Just before you reach your physical consciousness, you bump into the astral mire and have one of those nightmare dreams that occur just before you wake up in the morning. The astral plane is where you have the bad dreams, and the etheric plane is where you have visions and memories of high experiences.

Dreams of Flying

Mark Prophet, Elizabeth Clare Prophet's husband and ascended twin flame, was also a pioneering spiritual leader. He once made this comment about out-of-the-body experiences:

Quite a few people have told us of dreams where they were flying. This is a subconscious memory that often functions for two reasons. One, because there was a time when humanity knew how to fly physically. Those of you familiar with the story of the great yogi Milarepa recall how he used to pass across the sky and people would say, “There goes that crazy yogi Milarepa again.” We've lost the art of flying. We're not birds; we're very much earthbound. But some people travel in their finer bodies—they “fly” in that way. And so these two memories of flying are within us.

*Chela is a Sanskrit term for a student or disciple of a master.

Journey of souls

Dr. Michael Newton

Acclaim: Over 700,000 copies sold (in English alone, as well as being translated in many languages). A best seller for over 25 years. #1 Ranking on Amazon in three categories.

Published Languages: English, French, Italian, Hindi and more

Books like this come along once in a lifetime. Michael Newton’s groundbreaking first book on the Afterlife is one of the great spiritual books of our time. Decades of detailed research made this book possible and it finally emerged when it was most needed, as humanity was starting to open more to the metaphysical roots of our existence. What makes it even more special is that Michael didn’t believe what he was finding at first, though through the eyes of thousands of client cases he was able to build a working model of the afterlife, an understanding of our connection to it and the possibilities of having the wisdom it offers within a life rather that wait for the end of it. This book has changed the lives of hundreds, upon hundreds of thousands of people…

Why are you here on Earth? Where will you go after death? What will happen to you when you get there?

Many books have been written about past lives, but there has been very scant information about the ongoing existence of our souls as we await rebirth – until Journey of Souls was published in 1994. Still a best-selling classic, Journey of Souls summarizes Dr. Michael Newton’s research and work with individuals whom he placed in a state of deep hypnosis during which they recalled their experiences between lives as eternal spirits.

When Dr. Michael Newton, a certified Master Hypnotherapist, began regressing his clients back in time to access their memories of former lives he stumbled onto a discovery of enormous proportions: that it is possible to “see” into the spirit world through the mind’s eye of subjects who are in a hypnotized or superconscious state. Moreover, clients in this altered state are able to describe what their soul was doing between lives on Earth.

In Journey of Souls , Dr. Newton narrates and comments upon the progressive “travel log” of 29 of his clients who movingly described what happened to them between their former reincarnations on earth. They revealed graphic details about how it feels to die, who meets us right after death, what the spirit world is really like, where we go and what we do as souls, and why we choose to come back in certain bodies.

Finding one’s place in the spirit world initiates a deep process of healing for it provides understanding of the purpose behind significant life choices, and how and why your soul – and the souls of those you love – lives eternally. After reading Journey of Souls , you will gain a better understanding of the immortality of the human soul… and you will meet day-to-day personal challenges with a greater sense of purpose as you begin to understand the reasons behind events in your own life.

Through the 29 extraordinary case studies presented, you will learn specifics about:

  • How it feels to die
  • What you see and feel right after death
  • The truth about “spiritual guides”
  • What happens to “disturbed” souls
  • Why you are assigned to certain soul groups in the spirit world and what you do there
  • How you choose another body to return to Earth
  • The different levels of souls: beginning, intermediate, and advanced
  • When and where you first learn to recognize soulmates on Earth
  • The purpose of life

Journey of Souls is a life-changing book. Already, over 1,000,000 people have taken Journey of Souls to heart, giving them hope in trying times. After reading Journey of Souls , you will gain a better understanding of the immortality of the human soul. You will meet day-to-day challenges with a greater sense of purpose. You will begin to understand the reasons behind events in your own life.

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

The Opportune Moment by Sheenagh Pugh

When you go ashore in that town,

take neither a camera nor a notebook.

However many photographs you upload

of that street, the smell of almond paste

will be missing; the harbour will not sound

of wind slapping on chains. You will read

notes like “Sami church”, later, and know

you saw nothing, never put it where

you could find it again, were never

really there. When you go ashore

in the small port with the rusty trawlers,

there will be fur hawkers who all look

like Genghis Khan on a market stall,

crumbling pavements, roses frozen in bud,

an altar with wool hangings, vessels

like canal ware, a Madonna

with a Russian doll face. When you go

ashore, take nothing but the knowledge

that where you are, you never will be again.

A Prayer for Travelers by Anon

May the road rise up to meet you.

Song of the Open Road by Walt Whitman

Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road,

Healthy, free, the world before me,

The long brown path before me leading me wherever I choose.

Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune,

Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,

Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,

Strong and content I travel the open road.

Travel by Edna St. Vincent Millay

The railroad track is miles away,

And the day is loud with voices speaking,

Yet there isn’t a train goes by all day

But I hear its whistle shrieking.

All night there isn’t a train goes by,

Though the night is still for sleep and dreaming,

But I see its cinders red on the sky,

And hear its engine steaming.

My heart is warm with the friends I make,

And better friends I’ll not be knowing;

Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take,

No matter where it’s going.

On the World by Francis Quarles

The world’s an inn; and I her guest.

I eat; I drink; I take my rest.

My hostess, nature, does deny me

Nothing, wherewith she can supply me;

Where, having stayed a while, I pay

Her lavish bills, and go my way.

Die Slowly by Martha Medeiros

He who becomes the slave of habit,

who follows the same routes every day,

who never changes pace,

who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,

who does not speak and does not experience,

dies slowly.

He or she who shuns passion,

who prefers black on white,

dotting ones i’s rather than a bundle of emotions, the kind that make your eyes glimmer,

that turn a yawn into a smile,

that make the heart pound in the face of mistakes and feelings,

He or she who does not turn things topsy-turvy,

who is unhappy at work,

who does not risk certainty for uncertainty,

to thus follow a dream,

those who do not forego sound advice at least once in their lives,

die slowly.

He who does not travel, who does not read,

who does not listen to music,

who does not find grace in himself,

she who does not find grace in herself,

He who slowly destroys his own self-esteem,

who does not allow himself to be helped,

who spends days on end complaining about his own bad luck, about the rain that never stops,

He or she who abandons a project before starting it, who fails to ask questions on subjects he doesn’t know, he or she who doesn’t reply when they are asked something they do know,

Let’s try and avoid death in small doses,

reminding oneself that being alive requires an effort far greater than the simple fact of breathing.

Only a burning patience will lead

to the attainment of a splendid happiness

Die Slowly by Martha Medeiros / Poems About Why You Need to Travel

If Once You Have Slept on an Island by Rachel Field

If once you have slept on an island

You’ll never be quite the same;

You may look as you looked the day before

And go by the same old name,

You may bustle about in street and shop;

You may sit at home and sew,

But you’ll see blue water and wheeling gulls

Wherever your feet may go.

You may chat with the neighbors of this and that

And close to your fire keep,

But you’ll hear ship whistle and lighthouse bell

And tides beat through your sleep.

Oh, you won’t know why, and you can’t say how

Such change upon you came,

But – once you have slept on an island

You’ll never be quite the same!

If Once You Have Slept on an Island by Rachel Field / Poems About Travel And How It Changes Us

The Moment by Margaret Atwood

The moment when, after many years

of hard work and a long voyage

you stand in the centre of your room,

house, half-acre, square mile, island, country,

knowing at last how you got there,

and say, I own this,

is the same moment when the trees unloose

their soft arms from around you,

the birds take back their language,

the cliffs fissure and collapse,

the air moves back from you like a wave

and you can’t breathe.

No, they whisper. You own nothing.

You were a visitor, time after time

climbing the hill, planting the flag, proclaiming.

We never belonged to you.

You never found us.

It was always the other way round.

Freedom by Olive Runner

Give me the long, straight road before me,

A clear, cold day with a nipping air,

Tall, bare trees to run on beside me,

A heart that is light and free from care.

Then let me go! – I care not whither

My feet may lead, for my spirit shall be

Free as the brook that flows to the river,

Free as the river that flows to the sea.

P.S. I Love You by H. Jackson Brown / Poems About Travel Why You Need to Travel the World

For the Traveler by John O’Donohue

Every time you leave home,

Another road takes you

Into a world you were never in.

New strangers on other paths await.

New places that have never seen you

Will startle a little at your entry.

Old places that know you well

Will pretend nothing

Changed since your last visit.

When you travel, you find yourself

Alone in a different way,

More attentive now

To the self you bring along,

Your more subtle eye watching

You abroad; and how what meets you

Touches that part of the heart

That lies low at home:

How you unexpectedly attune

To the timbre in some voice,

Opening in conversation

You want to take in

To where your longing

Has pressed hard enough

Inward, on some unsaid dark,

To create a crystal of insight

You could not have known

To illuminate

When you travel,

A new silence

Goes with you,

And if you listen,

You will hear

What your heart would

Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing:

Make sure, before you go,

To take the time

To bless your going forth,

To free your heart of ballast

So that the compass of your soul

Might direct you toward

The territories of spirit

Where you will discover

More of your hidden life,

And the urgencies

That deserve to claim you.

May you travel in an awakened way,

Gathered wisely into your inner ground;

That you may not waste the invitations

Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,

And live your time away to its fullest;

Return home more enriched, and free

To balance the gift of days which call you.

Why Do I Travel? Author Unknown

It is on the road that my inner voice speaks the loudest and my heart beats the strongest.

It is on the road that I take extra pride in my wooly hair, full features and lineage.

It is on the road that I develop extra senses and the hairs on my arms stand up and say “Sana, don’t go there”, and I listen.

It’s when I safety pin my money to my underclothes and count it a million times before I go to sleep,

It is on the road that I am a poet, an ambassador, a dancer, medicine woman, an angel and even a genius.

It’s on the road that I am fearless and unstoppable and if necessary ball up my fist and fight back.

It is on the road that I talk to my deceased parents and they speak back

It’s on the road that I reprimand myself, and set new goals, refuel, stop and begin again.

It is on the road that I experience what freedom truly is.

It is my travel that has transformed me making me a citizen of the world. When my humanness, compassion and affection are raised to a new level and I share unconditionally.

Why Do I Travel? Author Unknown / Poems About Travel

Travel by Robert Louis Stevenson

I should like to rise and go

Where the golden apples grow;—

Where below another sky

Parrot islands anchored lie,

And, watched by cockatoos and goats,

Lonely Crusoes building boats;—

Where in sunshine reaching out

Eastern cities, miles about,

Are with mosque and minaret

Among sandy gardens set,

And the rich goods from near and far

Hang for sale in the bazaar,—

Where the Great Wall round China goes,

And on one side the desert blows,

And with bell and voice and drum

Cities on the other hum;—

Where are forests, hot as fire,

Wide as England, tall as a spire,

Full of apes and cocoa-nuts

And the negro hunters’ huts;—

Where the knotty crocodile

Lies and blinks in the Nile,

And the red flamingo flies

Hunting fish before his eyes;—

Where in jungles, near and far,

Man-devouring tigers are,

Lying close and giving ear

Lest the hunt be drawing near,

Or a comer-by be seen

Swinging in a palanquin;—

Where among the desert sands

Some deserted city stands,

All its children, sweep and prince,

Grown to manhood ages since,

Not a foot in street or house,

Not a stir of child or mouse,

And when kindly falls the night,

In all the town no spark of light.

There I’ll come when I’m a man

With a camel caravan;

Light a fire in the gloom

Of some dusty dining-room;

See the pictures on the walls,

Heroes, fights and festivals;

And in a corner find the toys

Of the old Egyptian boys.

Night Traveler by Deepa Thomas

I am a night traveler

Travel all through the night

And my bed is a sailing boat

I reach for my bed every night

And take a trip places far away

To see new things and people

I travel past the harbors

Full of anchored boats

I travel past the beaches

With swaying coconut trees

I watch the waves

Embracing the shore

I watch the kids playing

And reach out my arms

Then I touch my own bed

Here comes a flash

And my boat is back

And I am back in bed

My boat sails every night

And reach home with morning light

Never did it anchor once

Still traveling every day

Hoping to reach

That unknown destination

Patti LaBelle, 'The Godmother of Soul,' rocks Red Carpet Gala & Concert to benefit the St. George Theatre

M ar. 24—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — All eyes were on the Red Carpet Gala and Concert on Saturday night, when patrons of the arts converged upon Staten Island's North Shore — in grand style — to partake in one of the borough's most momentous evenings.

They were there for good reason: To commemorate the St. George Theatre's 94th birthday and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the historic performing arts center that's been fully restored to its original grandeur.

Interestingly, the house that the roaring twenties built translates into one of New York City's last remaining true, lustrous movie palaces, and one of Staten Island's most treasured cultural gems.

And to add just the right touch to all the fun and fanfare was an electrifying performance by the inimitable Patti LaBelle, the singer-songwriter and author who's been dazzling audiences for more than six decades.

During a special onstage tribute, the Georgie Award was presented to the family behind Flowers by Bernard, a Dongan Hills stronghold that has been serving the community of Staten Island for some 50 years.

Prior to the stellar production by the musical icon — who was accompanied by phenomenal backup singers and musicians — was an informative video in which Brian Laline, chairman of the St. George Theatre board, and Fred Cerullo, a board of director, outlined the theater's programs and accomplishments.

On screen, they highlighted the recent, massive restoration project that transformed the theater — that was once home to vaudevillians — back to its original glory from top to bottom, including its Rococo gilded interior and oversized Spanish murals, to its impressive, oversized brass chandelier dotted with intricate details and vibrant stained glass accents.

The enchanting evening not only sparkled with vibrant stage performances, but was abuzz with high-spirited energy, heartfelt speeches, lots of laughter, and a number of unforgettable moments, as revelers toasted one of Staten Island's cultural crown jewels that also boasts significant educational resources.

A LITTLE ABOUT PATTI LA BELLE

The critically acclaimed rhythm and blues singer whose known as "The Godmother of Soul," hit the majestic stage and bedazzled the packed house with classic pop standards — all to rousing rounds of applause.

It was glamour galore when the accomplished performer belted out tunes bedecked in striking evening attire — a shimmery silver/mauve toned silk faced satin ensemble, before changing into a fashionable shade of crimson red. She later brought the house down while wearing a lemon yellow gown.

"I love you," she shouted as she sashayed across the stage and proceeded to ask from where audience members traveled.

After a few numbers, she kick off her sparkly shoes — there were more on display across the piano — and changed into a more comfortable version.

LaBelle even saw fit to interact with balcony guests who she brought down to orchestra level so they could chat for a bit — and also summoned a half dozen men to the stage to showcase their voices.

She would also deliver her rendition of "On My Own," a duo tune she sang with Michael McDonald some 20 years ago that was written and produced by Burt Bacharach and his then wife, Carole Bayer Sager.

And she went on to impress the exuberant crowd with "Lady Marmalade," the catchy, familiar 1975 mega hit written by Bob Crewe, before capping her performance with a heartwarming "Over the Rainbow" with so many standouts in between.

EVEN MORE ON PATTI LABELLE

LaBelle became a solo artist in 1976 and her debut album was another success.

The Philadelphia born entertainer has garnered numerous honors including Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, the NAACP Image Awards, and has written New York Times Best Sellers. She also maintains a successful food and lifestyle brand, Patti's Good Life.

THE GEORGIE AWARD WAS PRESENTED TO THE FLOWERS BY BERNARD FAMILY

During a heartfelt onstage tribute prior to the concert, the Georgie Award was presented to the family behind Flowers by Bernard, a Dongan Hills stronghold that has been serving the community of Staten Island for some 50 years.

The family-owned and operated business has been an integral part of the Staten Island community, actively giving back and generously supporting the St. George Theatre for the past 20 years.

Cugno and Sorrentino went on to credit the Flowers by Bernard family.

"For 20 years they delivered tree size decorations to help us disguise the imperfections. They are talented and added details. Know you have made a different in our lives."

The thriving Dongan Hills business began as a small plant shop started 50 years ago by Bernard and Judith Silver.

Fifty years later, Judith Silver and her daughters Elissa and Elizabeth and their husbands Glenn Carpenter and Irving David are operating the floral design and event business out of two locations and providing services all over the tri-state area.

"We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful, supportive community," said Elissa Carpenter. "It fills my heart with joy to be in the remarkable St. George Theatre and be surrounded by loving family, friends and clients, said Elissa Carpenter, before adding, "Kudos to Luanne and Doreen, the Board Members and the Gala Committee who make this all possible. We truly appreciate this honor!"

Elizabeth David, echoed her sister's words: "What a spectacular night! The saying 'Iit takes a village" is very apropos when speaking about the St. George Theatre. Last night was the perfect example. The love and support from the Staten Island community truly made it a night to remember. Patti La Belle filled the theater and our hearts with beautiful music. Luanne , Doreen and The St. George Theater enrich the lives of Staten Islanders!"

From the magnificent stage, Irving David noted: "When you're on stage and feel Doreen and Luanne's mother's spirit and the way they rebuilt this theater, we so want you to enjoy the beauty of the theater and the talent of Patti LaBelle."

Mom, Judith Silver who founded Flowers by Bernard some 50 years ago with her late husband Bernard Silver, noted "It's been a joy throughout these 50 yeras. And it's wonderful that I get to be with my daughters every day."

And Michelle Durkin, a superior floral arranger, who's been working side by side with the Flowers by Bernard family for some 47 years, said, "It goes beyond words that we can bring such beauty to the community of Staten Island."

COMMENTS FROM THEATER CO-FOUNDERS

In addressing the crowd, Doreen Cugno and her sister, Luanne Sorrentino, spoke intermittently about the theater project.

"Originally, it was a shell of a theater before it was restored and refurbished to its original glory. And it gives us great pleasure to give credit to Brian Laline, our board members and our committee members and staffers and our sponsors. We are grateful for all the support we received. You are all part of our village and our family that has supported our restoration project."

The celebratory evening that brimmed with camaraderie and community spirit not only celebrated the intricate beauty and opulence of the theater, but highlighted the power of the historic venue that builds connections across generations.

"We are always proud to celebrate the St. George Theatre with our annual gala and benefit concert as fundraising is essential for our programming and educational arts series," added Sorrentino. "This year was even more special as we were proud to show off the majestic theater after the monumental restoration project that was just completed. The audience was in awe and marveled at the opulence and beauty and you could feel the energy and love in the room and the true appreciation that the St. George Theatre. We are delighted that this theater is now saved for the next century of theater goers. It's lights are shining bright for all to enjoy."

GOURMET CUISINE

Guests even got to savor gourmet cuisine at a spectacular after party that showcased a huge array of appetizers and entrees from more than 40 local restaurants who displayed delectable delights throughout three meticulously restored lobbies.

There was dance music aplenty in the VG Lounge and the Grand and Mezzanine Lobbies to the sounds of lively music by deejay Tyson.

Soul Food Is Coming To Miami International Airport Thanks To A 61-Year-Old Black Woman

Meet Shirlene Ingraham, the proud owner of the iconic Jackson Soul Food chain and a franchisee of the popular fast-food chain Chick-fil-A.

the travel of soul

Meet Shirlene Ingraham, a culinary force of nature who’s revolutionizing the soul food scene in Miami , Florida and making waves in the global food industry. The sixty-one-year-old is the proud owner of the iconic Jackson Soul Food chain and is a franchisee of the popular fast-food chain Chick-fil-A. Now, her latest headline-stealing venture is bringing the taste of homemade soul food to the bustling corridors of Miami International Airport (MIA).

As early as the age of seven, Ingraham began to develop an appreciation for cooking by assisting her parents at Jackson Soul Food, a restaurant they opened in the Overtown area of Miami in 1946. Standing on a crate to reach the counter, she started by taking orders and gradually moved to the kitchen, where she honed her culinary skills.

Expanding the Family Business

As an adult, Ingraham initially ventured into criminology. After college at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, she returned home and began working with the Miami Police Department. However, she soon realized her heart yearned for the warmth of the kitchen, and she made a career pivot to return to the family business.

In an interview with the  Miami Herald , Ingraham stated, “My parents had a restaurant in Overtown since 1946. I went off to college in Gainesville at Santa Fe College to study criminology and then came back home. I started working in the Miami Police Department. One day I decided I didn’t want to work in law enforcement anymore.”

In 2015, Ingraham expanded the family legacy by opening a second Jackson Soul Food location in Opa-locka. The expansion was not devoid of challenges, especially since she didn’t have a formal business education. However, Shirlene’s determination and faith helped her navigate the learning curves.

“After I took over the business, there were new responsibilities, like doing the payroll and paying government taxes, that I had to learn. I learned from a lot of mistakes I made,” Ingraham told the Miami Herald. “As a restaurant owner, you’re going to go through some things. You just have to stay strong and have plenty of faith because that’s what kept me going during challenging times. And it’s not always what it appears. You really have to just want it, because it took me this long just to get to the second location. You really have to have your heart in it. That suited me ’cause I’m hands-on.”

Ingraham’s day starts at four in the morning when she starts baking biscuits at Jackson Soul Food II in Opa-locka. The restaurant’s menu includes mouthwatering meals such as shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and fried catfish. Its irresistible offerings have been a hit with the local community and attracted high-profile customers like President Joe Biden, former President Bill Clinton, and artists like Ray J.

Arriving at Miami International Airport

The latest feather in Ingraham’s cap is the opening of Jackson Soul Food at Miami International Airport (MIA), one of the fastest-growing airports in the U.S. Ingraham, a Chick-fil-A franchisee, has also brought the beloved fast-food chain’s items to her airport location. This mix of soul and fast food will offer millions of travelers a diverse culinary experience.

The opening of Jackson Soul Food at MIA coincided with Black History Month, adding a special significance to the event. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava lauded Ingraham’s achievements and the positive impact of her venture on the community.
