Dierks Bentley Announces New ‘Gravel & Gold’ Tour Dates

By Joseph Hudak

Joseph Hudak

Dierks Bentley is resuming his Gravel & Gold Tour this summer. After crisscrossing the country last year, the Nashville star will return to the road in June for an amphitheater tour that runs through September.

“It’s time to drop everything you got and come see us on the road,” Bentley said in an online video in which he tosses a set of car keys to all the artists joining him on the road. There are many: Chase Rice and Lee Brice are onboard for direct support, while up-and-comers like Kaitlin Butts, Zach Top, and Tanner Usrey appear on select dates. Randy Rogers Band are also slated to join, along with Graham Barham, Tyler Braden, Mae Estes, Ella Langley, and Bella White.

Dierks Bentley announces extension of Gravel & Gold’ tour with a summer Nashville stop

D ierks Bentley is extending his “Gravel & Gold” Tour with over 30 new dates, including a stop in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena on Sept. 9. The country star will be joined by opener Chase Rice for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music.

The “Gravel & Gold” Tour boasts a lineup of talented country musicians, including Lee Brice and special guests Graham Barham, Tyler Braden, Kaitlin Butts, Mae Estes, Ella Langley, Randy Rogers Band, Zach Top, Tanner Usrey, Bella White, and more. With such a star-studded roster, fans can expect a diverse and exciting showcase of country, bluegrass, and Americana music.

Bentley’s decision to extend the tour comes on the heels of the release of his highly acclaimed tenth studio album, “Gravel & Gold,” which debuted in February 2023. The album’s success has propelled Bentley to hit the road once again, following the initial “Gravel & Gold” Tour in the summer of 2023, which featured opener Jordan Davis.

Reflecting on the tour’s success, Bentley expressed his excitement about continuing the journey with his fans. “The ‘Gravel & Gold’ tour has been the best of my career, and I’m not ready to leave it behind,” he stated. “We are so locked in with this production that it allows me to be living right in the moment with the fans, and that’s the magic!”

Bentley also highlighted the opportunity to collaborate with fellow artists on stage, a tradition that has become a highlight of his summer tours. “I’m bringing along some old friends and some newer artists who are all putting their own unique spin on country, bluegrass and Americana music,” he said. “I can’t wait to watch their shows and hopefully sing with them too.”

Tickets for the extended “Gravel & Gold” Tour will go on sale this Friday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. CST on Dierks.com. Produced by Live Nation, this tour promises to deliver unforgettable performances and unforgettable memories for fans across the country.

Dierks Bentley Talks Gravel And Gold Tour: "I can look back for a moment and go, 'This has been amazing'"

dierks bentley tour openers

Zach Belcher

Twenty years and 10 studio albums into his career, Dierks Bentley is just hitting his stride on tour. Bentley has four dates left in his 32-city Gravel & Gold Tour that launched in June.

Bentley, who will headline two nights at Colorado's famed Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver Sept. 5-6, said he thinks this tour is his best yet.

Bentley's set will be available to stream live to fans worldwide on Veeps.com and the Veeps app on Roku, Apple TV, iOS, and Android starting at 10 p.m. CT.

"The feeling I've always chased is just wanting that feeling of camaraderie on the road with the band and the crew," Bentley said. He was back in Nashville for a few days between shows and called CMT from the car as he and his wife, Cassidy, were on the way to Home Depot to pick out a new washer and dryer. "It's almost like this, 'Wow, I can kind of just look back for a moment and just go, "This has been amazing."' I'm always focused on the next thing, and it's just been a really special year for us out there."

Bentley shared a highlights reel from the tour with CMT that he believes showcases some of the magic he and opening acts Jordan Davis,  Elle King, Tracy Lawrence, Tyler Braden, Caylee Hammack, Hot Country Knights, Kameron Marlowe, The Cadillac Three, The Red Clay Strays, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Shane Smith & the Saints, Caitlyn Smith and Hailey Whitters made on the road this summer.

Davis left the tour this week to start his own headlining tour, and Bentley posted an emotional message to the "Buy Dirt" singer on his social media accounts.

"The love was real y'all! Between me and @jordandavisofficial and my band and his," Bentley wrote with a collection of photos showing he and Davis having fun on the road. "The second he walked on stage at our first show in Toronto, the whole energy of the tour shifted. He packs so much positivity and energy in his show he couldn't hide his love of performing if he wanted to. I'll miss the pickleball, torturing him with sub-30-degree cold plunges, parking lot workouts, whiskey sippin and old school country, and the energy he brought to What Was I Thinkin' every night.

Bentley added: "Dude loves Jesus, his family, friends and fans. Simple formula that makes him someone you just want to be around."

Davis commented: "Love ya brother…Thank you 🙏"

But Bentley still has plenty of people to have fun with on stage. Charlie Worsham joined his band for this tour, and the men lean into their years-long friendship and easygoing attitudes to keep the crowd engaged.

During "Up On The Ridge," Bentley tells Worsham his microphone is too close and then picks Worsham's microphone up in the middle of the song and moves it back about one foot. Worsham then shoots Bentley a confused look. Then, when the fiddle player stakes a solo, Bentley steps in front of him and receives another dirty look.

"It's so damn funny," Bentley said. "It's almost like there's two shows going on. There's one for the 15,000 people, and then there's also a separate show happening just for a few hundred people up front that can really see what's happening."

The singer views it as if he's simultaneously playing in a large and tiny room.

"If you're upfront, you're seeing a lot more than you're seeing anywhere else, just these little subtle looks going back and forth," he said.

For those who didn't score seats in the front of the amphitheater, Bentley spared no expense on production for this tour, ensuring they receive the best show possible, too.

"It flows so good," he said. "I'm always trying to create a rollercoaster that I get to ride on, not just the fans. The second I walk on stage, I don't want to have to work anymore. I want to have fun. And that's why I spend months rehearsing this show over and over and over and over and over and over. I don't have to rehearse anymore. I step on the escalator, and it's going to take me exactly where I want to go -- the fans. And this one, I think, does it better than ever."

Bentley even incorporated a trick he saw in a Nine Inch Nails tour video – singing behind a screen. He said no one in country music has done it before, and it made him nervous to try it. He incorporated it into his performance of "Black," and it's "so cool" and an "interactive experience."

"I am looking at the crowd through the slits in the video wall, but I can see all the phones out, and it's kind of the highlight of the show, which is so bizarre," he said. "The screen lifts up a little bit for us to walk out there and do 'Up On the Ridge' and some bluegrass stuff. It creates a secondary stage without having to leave the big stage. It's been a really great moment."

Bentley also incorporates the crazy characters he has created over the years into his set. Captain Holden Johnson still appears in "Drunk On A Plane." And, thanks to a video transition ala "Back To The Future," Bentley's '90s country cover band Hot Country Knights appear in the encore.

"It's ridiculous," Bentley laughed. "I wish I had an interview camera set for people on the way out and just be like, 'What did you think of that show into "Drunk on a Plane"?' It's a big moment. We could easily walk off right there. It's a great show. It's great encore. And then this whole other thing happens after that on this tour."

Bentley isn't trying to sell anyone on his Gravel & Gold Tour. He's just grateful for the experience and for what his band and crew have accomplished on the road this year.

"I just have so much gratitude for the guys and girls I got to spend my time with out on the road," he said. "And for all the fans to still come out. I always walk out on stage and never take  anything for granted."

“I’ve been waiting as patiently as possible for the time when we could tell our fans about this tour and I’m happy the moment has arrived,” said Bentley. “With new music, a whole new set and vibe along with incredible musicians and singers to share the stage with.…I can honestly say I think this will be our best tour ever. Jordan Davis and I have been talking about touring for a long time and he’s just killing. Not to mention the list of artists that we will be touring with is so exciting for me as a fan of all their music. I will be side stage every night taking it all in alongside the fans on this “Gravel & Gold Tour”.”

Named after his newly released 10th studio album which “testifies to everything Bentley does so well” (Esquire), the “Gravel & Gold Tour” will take Bentley back to the road where “his stage presence is something to marvel” (Spokesman Review) and “he pours his energy and heart into each performance” (St. Louis Dispatch).

The 10th album landmark speaks to how time has flown in Bentley’s unique, 21st-century career. The diverse 14-track album of perspective and self-awareness, at many levels, from the personal to the professional is a testament to the many strains of Country music Bentley has mastered and cultivated in his career, from the arena shaker to the barroom weeper to the bluegrass fireballer. His current Top 10 and climbing single “Gold," hits the core theme of perspective with a road-trip vibe and wisdom earned only by putting in the years and the work. He landed his first publishing deal in 2001 and released his debut album in 2003, producing an instant No. One single. The years since have revealed a rare consistency that’s fueled longevity – eight more albums that reached the top of the Country sales charts, resulting in 21 No. One songs, eight billion streams, three CMA Awards, 14 Grammy® nominations and membership into the Grand Ole Opry. Trendy sounds have ebbed and flowed around him over these two decades, but fans have relied on Bentley for something more nourishing and individual. He also has created professional endeavors outside of the music with his Flag & Anthem lifestyle collection Desert Son, along with his “Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row” franchise hosting four locations. Dierks Bentley Extends ‘Beers On Me Tour’ Into 2022

It looks like Dierks Bentley hasn't had enough of tour just yet! The county singer decided to extend his Beers on Me Tour into 2022 adding dates that will keep him on the road through March. About the extension, Bentley stated , "People think we are crazy to go to Canada and the Northwest in January, but we've learned from previous tours that it's a great time to bring a party up there. For me personally, I don't mind that there is plenty of ice, snow, and mountains for some adventure between shows."

Dierks Bentley Has Serious Fun With ‘Gravel & Gold’ at Pine Knob [Review]

On his latest album, Gravel & Gold , Dierks Bentley sings about being the "Same Ol' Me," even if he's got " a little more don't care with a little touch of gray on top ."

But on his just-launched new tour, Bentley finds a way to add fresh touches to all the same ol' stuff that's given him 20 years of hits — and demonstrate once again how to have some pretty serious fun.

Bentley and his six-piece band packed a great deal into their hour and 50 minutes on stage at the Pine Knob Music Theatre outside Detroit, the second show on the 2023 Gravel & Gold Tour, on Friday (June 2.) The career-spanning set offered 18 songs from his 10-album catalog and a trove of covers — including a medley performed as Bentley's side band, Hot Country Knights .

That 13 of the originals are Top 10 hits, and nine of those hit No. 1, spoke to the success Bentley has enjoyed during these past two decades. The fact that he left a significant number of other favorites on the bench and still threw a non-stop party of a show spoke to the depth of quality in his catalog.

Sporting a black work shirt and jeans — and, in short order, a backward baseball cap — Bentley came promising, "This is gonna be the best night of your summer," a high bar to set given that it's, well, still spring. The band was tearing it up, though, giving Gravel & Gold its early-show due with "Gold," "Same Ol' Me" and "Something Real." By the time he brought two fans up to shotgun beers with him during "Am I the Only One," all concerned — on stage and off — were well on their way to being, as the song says, "Gone."

Since becoming a headliner back in 2006, Bentley's shows have consistently featured advanced staging, and the new tour is no exception. The wide-open stage was simple and free of props, dominated by a massive video screen that separated into parts to give the stage different looks throughout the night. At one point, he performed the airy "Black" (with a bit of Coldplay's "Fix You") from behind the screen, visible in and out of swirling projections.

He and his band then stepped in front of it for "Up on the Ridge" and a cover of Garth Brooks ' "Callin' Baton Rouge," the latter sung by all-star band member Charlie Worsham . Opener Molly Tuttle joined the crew for Gravel & Gold 's "Sunset in Colorado" and Townes Van Zandt's "White Freight Liner," the whole ensemble trading instrumental solo breaks.

Jordan Davis , the night's other opener, romped through a duet version of Bentley's first hit, "What Was I Thinkin'," to finish the main set. Then things took a theatrical turn as Bentley dressed as an inebriated pilot — shades on, cap askew, jacket open (with a bra hanging out), beer sloshing out of a red Solo cup — for, what else, "Drunk on a Plane."

Then the band morphed into the Hot Country Knights , introduced by a Back to the Future -style video that took the Bentley crew "back to the 90s" — mullet wigs, spandex and key-tar included — for a tight, high-octane medley of hits bookended by Brooks' "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)" and "Friends in Low Places" and including hits by Tim McGraw , Shania Twain , Diamond Rio , Jo Dee Messina and Billy Ray Cyrus .

The new Hot Country Knights single "Midknight Rodeo" closed the show, and even though he was in costume, it was still the same ol' Bentley taking a triumphant walk off the stage.

The Gravel & Gold Tour has dates announced through Aug. 26. Bentley will also be hosting the 2023 NHL Awards on June 25 in Nashville and CMA Fest on ABC in July.

Dierks Bentley's 2023 Gravel & Gold Tour Setlist on June 2 at Pine Knob:

"Gold" "Same Ol' Me" "I Hold On" "Am I the Only One" "Living" "Burning Man" "Something Real" "Gone" "Say You Do" "Black" "Up on the Ridge" "Callin' Baton Rouge" (Garth Brooks cover) "Sun Sets in Colorado" (with Molly Tuttle) "White Freight Liner Blues" (Townes van Zandt cover, with Molly Tuttle) "Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)" "5-1-5-0" "Somewhere on a Beach" "What Was I Thinkin'"(with Jordan Davis)

"Drunk on a Plane"

I Feel Like a Woman" (Shania Twain cover), "Friends in Low Places (Garth Brooks cover) "Midknight Rodeo"
