  • Stop by a local brewery to savor a selection of 5 beers and ciders paired with delicious local farm cheeses.
  • Enjoy the freedom to explore or shop at your own pace after the tour, ensuring a fully customizable experience.
  • Our tour guarantees smaller groups and the strongest guarantees, promising an intimate, safe, and satisfying exploration of Estonia at unbeatable prices.

?

Spend the day seeing the main highlights of the medieval part of Tallinn, Estonia's capital on the Baltic Sea and the country's cultural hub.

You will visit the famed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a large Russian Orthodox church dominating the landscape at the top of Toompea Hill. Completed in 1900, this mixed historical style structure contains a powerful ensemble of 11 church bells within its towers.

Down the hill you will find Toompea Castle, home to the Estonian Parliament. This Baroque-style facade building was constructed on the remnants of a 13th-century fortress and sports an eclectic mix of styles thanks to each ruler who left their impressions on the place throughout the centuries.

Also view St. Mary's Cathedral, commonly referred to as the Dome Church. In its original form, the 11th-century church was fashioned out of wood, then replaced with stone over centuries of conquests, fires, and more. While exploring Tallinn you will make your way through a retro Soviet-style residential district and see Kadriorg Park and the Song and Dance festival grounds.

From there you will head into the Estonian countryside and pass by Jagala, the biggest waterfall in Estonia. At over 50 meters in width and 8 meters in height, this natural waterfall is only thirty minutes away from Tallinn and is not to be missed as part of your true immersive experience of Estonia.

Stop at a small brewery where you will sample 5 different kinds of beers and ciders as well as 3 kinds of delicious local farm cheese.

Book this popular brewery tour now and get ready to enjoy a cultural and palatable taste of Estonia and the unique town of Tallinn.

Please Note: The tour ends in central Tallinn, to allow you to explore or shop at your leisure after the tour. It is about a 15-minute walk, or a 5-minute taxi ride (not included, approximately 15 EUR), from the cruise pier.

  • N1964PWtomp 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not worth it. Tour ≠ description The tour was an hour short of what was advertised. One stop was going to a store to try their free samples of mustard. Other stops were skipped altogether because they were too crowded. Food provided is not what was advertised in the description you've read. Hard to get in touch with the tour company to attempt to resolve these errors. I firmly recommend you avoid this tour. • christinerega 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fun and informative food tour of Tallinn! We stopped at four locations to try traditional liquor, mushroom soup (our favorite - we came back to Munga Kelder the next day for more), brown bread, honey and jams, and a tasting menu at Farm (pate, smoked fish, caviar, beef tartar) and kama for dessert. My husband and I were the only people on this food tour, which made the experience intimate and a lot more personalized. Svetlana was a fantastic guide and gave us a map of her recommended museums, hot chocolate cafe, and restaurants. Highly recommend for one of your first days in Tallinn to get a history of the city and for exploring new places to visit (and restaurants to return to). Great value for the cost of the tour! • 693darrenw 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A thoroughly enjoyable day in Tallin The day trip of Tallin from Helsinki was excellent. The tour organisation was first class from receiving the ferry tickets a couple of days before, meeting the guide at the terminal in Tallin, to the pickup in the old town and return to the Ferry Anastasia met us at the ferry terminal in Tallin and gave us a driving tour of Tallin and a walking tour of the Old City. The tour was eductional, informative and very enjoyable, highlighting the best of Tallin. Anastasia also provided some excellent tips on cafes and restaurants to visit in the free time you have at the end of the walking tour. We also enjoyed the small group aspect of the tour. Other than my wife and I our tour group only included one other person. A thoroughly enjoyable day in Tallin. Highly recommended. Read more Written March 13, 2024

  • Paul N 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellent experience x2!! I had the very good fortune of completing two tours with Svetlana: a two hour walking tour of old city and the food experience tour. Both tours were informative and fufilling! But there are tours…and then there are tours. What separated these experiences from most was the quality of the guide. Svetlana is uniquely knowledgeable and she clearly has a passion to share her experience of Tallinn with those that seek to discover it. More importantly, perhaps, she is a warm and kind person who is able to breathe life and understanding into this culturally complex, yet beautiful space, in this world we all share. • Steffk27 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Eat great local food off the beaten path Anastasia was an amazing and kind guide; so knowledgeable and combined both food and history stories into the tour. I really liked that we visited places off the beaten path; as a solo traveller, this was a great way to see parts of the city that I wouldn’t have ventured to on my own. The portions sizes were perfect; not too much, not too little and I really liked the mixture of food and drink stops. Thoroughly recommend for groups or solo travellers. Small and friendly taproom with great barmaid. you can even see how the brewery looks like, and if you find the owners there, they will be more than happy to answer all your questions, and perhaps give you a brewery tour. the beers are divine, and my favorite one is jailhouse brew. besides making and selling beer, vaat brewery has a rich program, so you can participate at quiz nights, play chess and board games, organize a theme party, or just visit, and enjoy a good beer and even better company., good beer and even better people.

Põhjala was founded in Tallinn, Estonia at the end of 2011 by four Estonian beer enthusiasts and home brewers.

Soon thereafter the company was joined by a Scottish head brewer, Chris Pilkington, with a few years of Brewdog experience under his belt.

The first Põhjala beer, Öö Imperial Baltic Porter, was released in the beginning of 2013 and for most of that year, our beers were contract-brewed in other breweries’ production facilities while we prepared to open our own. Construction of our first brewery was completed in April 2014 in Tallinn’s Nõmme district.

Starting out with just 5 × 24-hl fermenters, we more than quadrupled our annual production capacity in just 2.5 years.

Since 2014, Põhjala has poured beers at many beer festivals around the world — from TCBW organized by us in Tallinn, to Cigar City’s Hunahpu’s Day in Tampa, Florida and Young Master Invitational in Hong Kong.

We have collaborated with good friends from breweries like Boneyard, Brew By Numbers, De Struise, Lervig, Stillwater Artisanal, Jester King, Stigbergets, Norway Brewing Company, Jing-A, Mallaskoski, Birrificio Italiano and To Øl. Our own beers span a broad range of styles, but with a particular focus on porters, barrel ageing, and ingredients from the forests of Estonia — as well as more contemporary styles.

At the end of 2018, we moved to our new facility in the historical Noblessner shipyard area by the sea in North Tallinn.

The Põhjala Brewery and Tap Room now features a 50 hl Rolec brewhouse and Framax filing line, state of the art lab facilities and a tap room with 120 seats and 24 taps.

Brewery Tours in Tallinn Area

  • Kõik elamustegevused

Estonia has a long history of beer making and you can learn some of the secrets while visiting breweries. Estonia claims to have the highest number of different beer kinds if compared to any of their Baltic neighbours, so there will be plenty to taste.

Põhjala Brewery Tour

Põhjala Brewery is located in the upcoming Noblessner district in Tallinn, just 10 minutes from the city centre. Põhjala Tap Room serves 24 Põhjala and guest beers on tap, paired with Texas BBQ.  They experiment regularly to hone their craft and broaden their range of styles. They use a variety of bourbon, cognac, sherry, and tequila barrels to age their unusual creations and produce unique tastes by blending several distinctly different beers.

They offer daily brewery tours  – 45-minute stroll through production with information about beer making and the brewery and tasting of 3—4 different beers.

The Tap Room fits in 120 guests for seated events and more than 200 for receptions!

Tour of Saku Brewery With Beer Tasting

The oldest brewery in Estonia is located in Saku, within a 30-minute drive from Tallinn. The brewery was established in 1820 by the owner of Saku Manor, German earl Karl Friedrich Rehbinder. From the end of 19th century onward, Saku has remained among the leading breweries in Estonia. During the tour, the guests will visit the site’s beer museum as well as the operational brewery, learn the history and traditions of local brew making and of course taste the products of Saku Brewery – soft drinks, cider and beer.
