Taylor Swift Announces How She'll Be Touring Lover: 4 U.S. Lover Fest Dates and Festivals Abroad

Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert at L'Olympia

Taylor Swift isn't going on a traditional stadium tour for her new album, Lover . This time, she's doing festivals, the singer announced... and creating four festival dates of her own to perform her new album next year.

"The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, and SUMMER," she tweeted. "I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals. Where we didn’t have festivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East + West!"

There's a history-making element to Swift's tour plan. The singer will become the first woman to open an NFL stadium during her Lover Fest West performances in Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium.

These are the 2020 dates she'll be playing so far. Note she only has four U.S. shows, two on the East Coast in Massachusetts and two on the West Coast in Los Angeles. Good luck to all seeking tickets.

About Taylor Swift: Taylor Swift's seventh studio album "Lover" is not only the top-selling album of 2019, it is the highest-selling album since "reputation" was released back in 2017 and broke the record for most simultaneous entries by a female artist in Billboard's Hot 100 history. With all 18 tracks from "Lover" charting, it was the only album to sell 1 million in U.S. pure album sales in 2019. This is a testament not only to Taylor's devoted fans but also to her songwriting prowess. As USA Today said, "Critics are falling in love with Taylor Swift's latest album 'Lover.'" Rolling Stone hailed, "'Lover' is a career-topping masterpiece" and "the superstar's writing is better than it's ever been." A.V. Club called "Lover," "one of her strongest, most relatable albums to date" and Vulture said, "The old Taylor is back on 'Lover' and the best she's been in years." Taylor is the only artist in history to have four consecutive albums sell over 1 million copies in their week of release ("Speak Now," "RED," "1989" and "reputation") and the only female artist to have six albums each sell at least 500,000 copies in a single week ("Fearless," "Speak Now," "RED," "1989," "reputation" and "Lover").

Taylor Swift Announces 'Lover Fest' — Here's Where She's Going

It hasn't even been a month since Taylor Swift unleashed  Lover   upon her legion of devoted fans, and Swifties are already gearing up for her next tour. Swift took to social media today (September 17) to confirm that while a tour  is  happening, it's going to be a lot different than her past treks. So different, in fact, that she'll only be playing at two venues in the United States — one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast.

Before you freak out, Swift's plans for what she's dubbed "Lover Fest" actually sound pretty awesome. After hitting up some music festivals in Europe throughout July 2020, including Denmark's  Roskilde Festival and Portugal's  Nos Alive , Swift will play two shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 25-26, making her the first woman to open an NFL stadium. After that, she'll play two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA on July 31-August 1.

"The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, + SUMMER," the "You Need To Calm Down" singer tweeted, announcing her unique plans for summer 2020. "I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven't been and play festivals. Where we didn't have festivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East + West!"

If you live outside of the U.S. and you don't see a city near you listed, don't worry — additional U.K. and international dates will be announced soon. In other, less pleasant news, no further U.S. dates have been mentioned, which means North American Swifties only have two options — at least for now.

Despite only announcing four shows in the U.S., news of a  Lover  tour, in any capacity, is quite exciting for longtime fans of the singer. It's also a relief following her recent interview with Ryan Seacrest , in which she teased that a traditional stadium tour — like the ones for  1989   and  Reputation — wouldn't be happening. "Stadiums are fun," she told Seacrest on his On Air Show. "Stadiums are amazing — I love stadiums, I just don't know if we're going to do the same thing as we did last time."

As promised, Swift's plans for this summer are certainly  different , but they're also very exciting! And if you live near L.A. or Foxborough,  or  if you're willing to travel, you better get ready.  Tickets go on sale to the public on October 14, but  Tix verified fans  can get early access on September 19. Good luck, Swifties!

Previous Taylor Swift Tour Reviews

“Swift is always an artist who feels compelled to swerve somewhere new – even in those moments where she seems like the only one in the room who wouldn’t be delighted with more of the same Old Taylor tricks. She just isn’t content to be a More of the Same artist. In a show that was packed with highlights, “All Too Well” was the moment it was impossible to beat – it’s just the kind of song that can’t be topped, and there was something sweet about the way Swift temporarily surrendered her constant urge to remake and remodel, just playing the song on acoustic guitar.” – Rolling Stones

“I begin to realize that this is the best way to understand the Reputation Stadium Tour: as an oversized, high-tech touring Broadway production with a mostly tremendous soundtrack.” – StereoGum

“If there was any doubt that Taylor Swift inspires her audience, it was laid to rest here at the opening night of the Australian leg of her Reputation tour. Jumpsuits, sequined jackets and snakeskin outfits referenced video clips and song titles. There’s a sophistication about Taylor Swift that can be shared by tots, teens and twentysomethings
and their mums (and dads).” – The Guardian

The Definitive Guide to Every Room in Taylor Swift's Lover House

Read this before you see the Eras Tour film.

preview for VIDEO: Taylor Swift arrives at MetLife Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets game

The Lover House is one such obstacle. When the Lover album was first released in 2019, no one would've guessed that a single image from its title track's music video would go on to feature in three additional albums and a worldwide stadium tour . However, the Lover House was a major backdrop throughout the Eras Tour. Onstage, it appears to be empty, as if Swift has moved out. She burns it down during "Bad Blood" and exits through the orange front door at the end of the show.

It may be a fictional piece of Swift's real estate portfolio , but true fans need to understand the meaning of the Lover House because it's likely to come up many more times in her career. Read on for an in-depth explainer of what the rooms in the Lover House mean and more details you need to know before you watch the Eras Tour film.

Where Does the Lover House Come From?

First seen in the music video for Swift's seventh album's title track, "Lover," the Lover House is a home inside a snow globe gifted to a child for Christmas. The theory is that the couple (the Lovers), gave their child this snow globe as a representation of their love story from start to present. The other way Swifties interpret it is the singer "giving" her fans a house that chronicles her career from her 2006 debut album, Taylor Swift , to her most recent, Midnights .

What Each Room in the Lover House Represents

taylor swift lover house

Debut Album (Taylor Swift)

taylor swift lover house stills explainer

While Swift's debut album may not be a part of the official Eras Tour set list, it's an important piece of her history and the Lover House floor plan. Located on the lower level, the debut room is punctuated by the color green. From kelly green wallpaper and emerald curtains to a parlor palm tree in the corner, this room is monochromatic. It's also the first room we see in the music video, offering an introduction to Swift and her intricate worlds.

a room with a bed and a table with a lamp on it

Swift's hard launch into stardom, Fearless is her 2008 sophomore album. Exploring themes of teenage friendship, love, imposter syndrome, and bad ex-boyfriends, the album brought Swift her first Album of the Year Grammy, arena tour, and spot on the Billboard Top 100. Located one floor above Taylor Swift's debut album, the Fearless room is decked out in warm tones of orange, marigold, and gold. The twist here isn't the individual window seat cushions or the scattered toys; it's the fact that Swift and her lover are lounging on the ceiling, fully upside-down.

a person sitting at a desk

As an album, Speak Now is all about the trials and tribulations of being a 19-year-old girl. Dating a boy your parents hate, experiencing your first blindsiding heartbreak, and navigating your career's highest highs (winning CMA Artist of the Year) and lowest lows (the Kanye West VMA incident). It's no wonder this room feels both moody and formal compared with the rest of the Lover House. Opposite the debut album's green room on the first floor is the Speak Now room. In floor-to-ceiling purple, the signature color of both the album and the era, this is the home's dining room. Unlike the other rooms, it has a clear accent color: gold. An angular chandelier, ornate wall sconces, and eggplant curtains with gold detailing contrast with the rest of the "Lavender Haze."

a group of people sitting on a couch with food on it

The Lover House's living room represents Swift's 2012 album, Red . In the video, the couple hosts a party in a room with low burgundy armchairs, a chaise lounge, and paisley wallpaper. (It has a very similar vibe to Swift's New York City apartment with the wooden beams and stained-glass windows.) Swift's iconic breakup album, Red navigates the whirlwind of falling in love fast and falling out of love hard. But it's also an album about self-awareness and regaining confidence after you've had your heart broken, a theme conveyed by Swift's insecurities and efforts to make amends in the video.

a room with a large fish tank

If there's a single biggest Swift era, it's arguably 1989 , the singer's first foray into pop music superstardom. Sure, Swift was already a powerhouse, but this stadium tour—and her infamous girl squad, DJ boyfriend, and Harry Styles Easter eggs—made Swift the name on everyone's lips. Represented by the bathroom in the Lover House, the turquoise tile and blue walls are only a backdrop to the giant fishbowl located in the center of the space. Swift and her lover are seen swimming, cramped, in the fishbowl, representing the media scrutiny that ultimately led to Swift's disappearance from the public eye in 2016.

a man and woman standing in front of a drum set

The Lover House's attic symbolizes the Reputation era. A private and cozy setting for boxes of sentimental memorabilia and a projector for home videos, the attic represents a rare period in Swift's life when she wasn't in the public eye. In her 2020 documentary, Miss America , Swift states, "No one physically saw me for a year." This period of falling in love in private and coming back to herself is when Reputation was born; it's often regarded as her most romantic album, surpassing even Lover . In spite of being isolated, the attic has the same warmth as the rest of the home.

a person sitting on a bed

The Lover album is, naturally, the bedroom. Sweet and saccharine with a magenta wall and velvet curtains, the bedroom is monochrome in shades of pink. This room is where we see Swift and her lover have their first fight and make amends in the video. Lover is Swift's 2019 album, the seventh in her discography. It outlines the anxieties of bringing a stable relationship out of the shadows and into the flash of the public eye. A complete 180 from the Reputation era's grays and blacks, Lover is all about rainbows, butterflies, and pink glitter. The room has a distinctly 1980s feel, similar to Swift herself throughout the Lover era. Tufted armchairs and an oversize vanity sit along one wall, while a hot pink high-pile carpet lays the foundation.

Folklore and Evermore

a person on a ladder

Swift's first pandemic album, Folklore was released at the end of July 2020. Represented by the stairwell in the Lover House, the Folklore space is less of a room and more of a transition between eras. What's interesting (and proves Swift's mastermind abilities) is that Folklore , Evermore , and Midnights didn't exist when Lover was released, which has us thinking, How long has she been building this floor plan?

During the Folklore section of the Eras Tour set list, Swift lounges and sings on the "roof" of a home. Swift herself hasn't confirmed it, but many believe she has taken the stairwell to the roof of the Lover House.

Evermore , the sister album to Folklore , was released on Swift's birthday in December 2020, mere months later. Represented by the closet, Evermore is summer Folklore 's cozier, winter-friendly counterpart. Lit by warm ambient lighting and containing only yellow clothing, the closet mirrors the album's fall color scheme.

Last but certainly not least, Midnights isn't inside the Lover House but rather outside it, surrounding it. Symbolically represented by a starry night sky complete with "Midnight Rain" clouds, Midnights literally blankets the Lover House in snow.

Whether the Lover House has been burned to the ground for good, gets rebuilt stronger than ever, or returns in the form of the Lego Lover House kit fans are begging for, we can't wait to see what "room" Swift occupies next.

Taylor Swift Announced Her 'Lover' Tour Dates & They're Not What You Expected

Ever since Taylor Swift blessed the world with her Lover album on Friday, Aug. 23, fans have been itching for her to release tour dates so they can experience songs from Lover live in person. Every song on the album is so good and fans wish they could hear all the songs in concert. They especially want to dance their hearts out to "Paper Rings," sing "Spelling is fun!" at the top of their lungs to "ME!," and cry to the romantic title track, "Lover." Well, guess what? Fans' dreams are coming true because Taylor Swift just announced some tour dates. Yay! Taylor Swift's Lover Fest tour is coming and fans are not prepared because it will be so different than any of her past tours in one big way.

Taylor Swift made the huge announcement on social media on Tuesday, Sept. 17 . The tour will begin with a European leg next summer on June 20 in Belgium before Swift travels to Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland, France, Portugal, she'll make a stop in Brazil, and then hit the United States.

In an Instagram post announcing the tour, Swift revealed that she decided to make the tour dates in the summer because that's what her album represents. She wrote, "For me, the Lover album is open fields and sunsets and SUMMER. I want to celebrate the album and perform it live with you in a way that feels authentic to the music."

Swift also announced that for the first time in a long time, she will be playing festivals. She said, "I want to go to some places I haven’t been, and play festivals for the first time in ages... and where we didn’t have festivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East and West. Details and additional dates coming soon! TaylorSwift.com." You can see Swift's full post below.

Swift's "Lover Fest West" and "Lover Fest East" dates are her only U.S. tour dates in 2020 (it's unclear if she'll add more, but if she doesn't, fans may have to fight tooth and nail for tickets considering Swift usually tours pretty heavily in the U.S.).

On July 25 and 26, she will perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, and then on July 31 and Aug. 1, Swift will perform at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. According to Billboard , Swift will make history as " the first woman in history to open an NFL stadium " when she takes the stage at SoFi Stadium on July 25. You can check the full list of tour dates below.

June 20 -- Werchter, Belgium @ Werchter Boutique

June 24 -- Berlin, Germany @ The WaldbĂŒhne

In case you don't see your city or country in the list of tour dates, don't worry, Swift did say that "additional dates" would be "coming soon," so just be patient. I'm sure Swift will announce more dates in the coming weeks or months. The tour won't start until mid-2020, so you've got plenty of time to prepare to see Swift in concert.

The tickets will go on sale to the general public on Oct. 14. Swifties who are Taylor Swift Tix Verified Fans have a chance to RSVP for Preferred Presale Access starting now.

I'm sure fans are already counting down the days to when Taylor Swift makes a stop in their city on the Lover Fest tour. This tour is going to be so epic and I'm really curious to find out what Taylor Swift has planned for her tour this time around. For her Reputation tour, Swift literally had a giant snake as a prop, so I'm preparing myself for anything.

The Eras Tour cast: Meet Taylor Swift's dancers, singers and band members

lover tour taylor swift

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour has been out for a week on Disney+ , and there's no doubt some dedicated fans have watched it 13+ times. The three-and-a-half-hour phenomenon is a bedazzled force that moves through 49 songs from Swift's 10 eras. The movie was shot over three nights in Los Angeles and included helicopter, drone and onstage camera angles. By now everyone knows the ringleader of The Eras Tour, but what about the cast and crew who shine alongside her?

Here's a look at Swift's six bandmates, four backup vocalists and 15 dancers featured in the film with the time stamps for when they appear on screen.

'Strike the band up, 1... 2... 3...'

The Eras Tour band is led by Mike Meadows and Max Bernstein. Meadows has been with Swift for more than 15 years, starting on her "Fearless" tour. The guitarist also sings and plays keyboards, cello, harmonica and mandolin. In a cute TikTok, his wife shared a compilation video from Nissan Stadium about how proud she is . Swift places her arm on Meadows during "Love Story" at 33:12.

Max Bernstein rocks out on the guitar, keyboards and pedal steel, which is a steel guitar with pedals and knee levers. He shared a post on Instagram with the caption , "So incredibly grateful to be a little part of the biggest and best show." He joined Swift for the "Reputation Stadium Tour" in 2018. His parents are journalists Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein, and his brother Jacob is a reporter for The New York Times. Bernstein is to the right of Swift and her "Fearless" heart hands at 26:12.

Paul Sidoti may be the most well known band member. His distinct rocker hair is almost as big as his stage presence. Sidoti has been a vocalist and guitarist with the singer since 2007. He is approachable on the tour and has taken photos with fans in the audience. Sidoti's website also says he's available for "online guitar, bass, and piano lessons via Zoom." Swift touches Sidoti's face during "You Belong With Me" while singing "you've got a smile that can light up this whole town" at 28:15.

Amos Heller is the bassist. Like many of Swift's bandmates, the husband and father of three has been with her since 2007. Heller picked up his first electric bass at 13. His cover of Metallica's "Blackened" shows he's a master thrasher. Swift struts with Heller during "You Belong With Me" at 27:58.

Ooomph! Matthew Billingslea is the drummer crashing the cymbals, beating the toms and pedaling the bass. In 2023, he was nominated for pop drummer of the year at the Drumeo Awards. Billingslea joined Swift's band in 2013 for the Red Tour. Billingslea pops up during "Fearless" at 25:38.

Rounding out the bandmates is Karina DePiano . The classically trained pianist gets a shoutout from the singer following Swift's performance of "Champagne Problems." DePiano performs an interlude at 50:35 while Swift sets a table before singing "Tolerate It." DePiano started 2024 with a Pianote nomination for pop pianist of the year .

'We sing it proudly'

The fearless ladies who make up Swift's choir are "The Starlights."

Up first is Melanie Nyema , the section leader. The vocal virtuoso has backed many artists including Gladys Knight, Sara Bareilles, Solange Knowles, Florence + The Machine and Imagine Dragons. She's been with Swift since 2012 when she performed "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at the VMAs. Check out her spiritual version of "Gotta Have You." Nyema is left of Swift at 30:33 when she hugs "The Starlights."

Kamilah Marshall is the vocalist dance captain. Marshall came into the fold during the Red Tour. Her song "Canyon" showcases her writing and singing in an outpouring of gratitude. The Broadway actress has credits including "Hairspray" and "Lion King." In 2021, she told the Academic Magnet High School newspaper in South Carolina, "I know I’m supposed to be doing what I do.” You can also see her in the dinner scene of " All Too Well: The Short Film ." Marshall is the "cheer captain" on the left at 28:52 during the "Fearless" era.

Jeslyn Gorman joined Swift during her Red Tour. The vocal riffer has a song, "Falling Like Snow," and has toured with stars Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Rita Ora and Nick Jonas. The Florida native and latte enthusiast moved to Los Angeles. Gorman, like the other "Starlights," thanked Swift on her birthday, "Your heart and generosity is beyond BEYOND. And just when I think you’ve DONE IT, you TOP THAT!" Gorman shimmies at 32:40.

Eliotte Woodford wears the purple "Speak Now" dress and bangs the side of her vitrine during the "Look What You Made Me Do" portion of the Eras Tour at 1:07:38. Woodford has been with Swift since 2013. The wife and mother graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a part of the a cappella group the "Mosaic Whispers." Her singing and dancing reel shows her early work with Swift .

'I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you'

Fifteen dancers led by choreographer Mandy Moore and associate choreographers Amanda Balen and Jeremy Hudson create some of the most iconic moments during the 10 eras. Moore met Swift through mutual friend Emma Stone who worked with Moore on "La La Land." Her credits are extensive. Most recently, she put together the exemplary Ryan Gosling performance of "I'm Just Ken" at the Oscars.

Amanda Balen is the dance captain. The blond beauty hails from Ontario, Canada. She is famous among the Lady Gaga fandom for dancing in several of the star's music videos and being a part of the Roseland Ballroom residency in New York City in 2014. Balen has worked with Katy Perry and Pink. You can find her at 14:18 during "The Man" to the left of Swift.

Tori Evans lights up the stage. In her decade-plus career, the University of Arizona alumnus has been featured in Ricky Martin music video "Qué Rico Fuera" , swam in synchro-formation next to Beyoncé and strutted on "The Masked Singer ." Evans' resume also includes dancing for Cardi B, Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo and Maroon 5. Her dance teacher of 15 years, Lana Wright, told Morgan Hill Life , "Tori was always that ray of sunshine... I always knew Tori could accomplish her goals, if she really wanted it." You can catch Evans during "Blank Space." She hands Swift a glow-up club at 2:13:45.

Audrey Douglass has danced with the devil, in addition to many other television credits. The performer has boogied and waltzed on Netflix's "Lucifer," Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show," FX's "American Horror Story: 1984," Paramount+'s "1923" and "Dancing with the Stars." Douglass serves up sass as "Shay" in Dua Lipa's "Physical" work out video . Dancing runs in the family, because Douglass' older sister, Hannah, was one of the co-captain dancers on Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour . As the "Lover" house burns down, you can see Douglass to the left of Swift at 2:22:52.

Jan Ravnik (pronounced "yawn") is the smooth dancer who caught the eye of social media with his abs-olutely distracting "Lavender Haze" ladder dance . The Slovenian dancer has worked with Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, Khalid and Luis Fonsi. Ravnik was awarded the "Best Dancer in Slovenia" and credited as the "Best Trainer/Choreographer" by the Slovenian Olympic committee. When he's not grooving on the international stage, he goes for long distance bike rides and takes artsy photos. You can see what's got the internet's attention at 2:36:46.

Taylor Banks strikes like a viper at 55:48, during "...Ready For It?" Banks was born in New Orleans, grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Los Angeles to shine. The dancer has been moving to the beat since she was 3 and been featured with artists including Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Cher, Ciara, Chris Brown, Jessie J, The Jacksons, Jason Derulo, Dua Lipa, Billie Eillish and Beyoncé. The fitness model has repped brands like Nike, Reebok, Skechers and Under Armour.

Sydney Moss was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. The spunky and fun dancer moved to Los Angeles after high school and has worked with Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Doja Cat, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez. Moss has a beautiful rendition of "You're Losing Me" with fellow dancer Jan Ravnik. She dresses Swift in her bejeweled blazer during "The Man" at 9:03.

Natalie Lecznar is a former Radio City Rockette. The Chapman University graduate married her college sweetheart. She was on Season 5 of "So You Think You Can Dance." The vibrant dancer is easy to spot with her fire-red locks. She is known for her performance in the "Folklore" era when she becomes Rebekah Harkness during the "Last Great American Dynasty" at 1:51:41.

Whyley Yoshimura , why don't you come on over and shake, shake, shake? The dancer notably flips his long hair, still smooth despite the humidity, during "Shake It Off" at 2:17:40. Yoshimura is a native Hawaiian who went to the Kamehameha Schools on Oahu. He started dancing for Janet Jackson at 18 and went on to be her assistant choreographer for the "Unbreakable Tour." He is an LGBTQI+ advocate for the Rainbow Railroad .

Raphael Thomas is the "Tolerate It" star at 54:02. The Jamaican's nickname is "The Sandman." He toured with Mary J. Blige on the "Good Morning Gorgeous" tour , was featured in Rihanna's "Savage X Fenty Show" on Amazon Prime, danced for Janet Jackson in the 85 West Music Festival and lit up the stage with Beyonce during her "Homecoming" performance at Coachella.

Kevin Scheitzbach polishes up real nice! The "Bejeweled" dancer gets a breakout moment at 2:47:13 strutting some of his best moves. Scheitzbach specializes in jazz funk and street styles of dance. He runs FlowXS , a choreography company, with his equally charismatic and talented brother Michael. The two grew up in Toronto, Canada.

Kameron Saunders is the only dancer with a speaking line that he switches up nightly at the Eras Tour during "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at 1:26:33. The ebullient dancer also shines during a "Bejeweled" dance solo at 2:48:10. The Missourian was honored in Kansas City when the council dubbed Jan. 25 Kameron Saunders Day of Dance. You can catch him and his fast-footed moves in the ensemble of "The Color Purple" and "Spirited." Saunders' brother Khalen is a defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints.

Natalie Peterson is a professional dancer, fitness instructor, dance educator and Amazon influencer . The Chapman University graduate specialized in Latin dance. Before the Eras Tour, she served as the assistant choreographer for Karol G’s "Bichota Tour" and got her Lagree Fitness certification. You can spot her twirling in "Style" on the right of Swift at 2:10:39.

Tamiya Lewis is the crowd pleaser who wheels the "Red" road case onto the stage. During the tour, she opens it to reveal song snippets from "State of Grace," "Holy Ground," "Red" and "Everything Has Changed" (depending on the show). That part was cut from the movie, but you still see her bringing the case onstage to unleash hundreds of red balloons at 1:20:12. The 21-year-old is an alumnus of the Velocity Dance Convention , a dance convention and competition that provides classes to dancers across the U.S.

Sam Mcwilliams is the lovable dancer who appears to the right of Swift at 2:09:56. If you don't blink, you can also catch his famous "Style" flip at 2:10:41. The Oregon native has been dancing for most of his life. Check out a video of him in 2017 dancing to Meghan Trainor's "Me Too." In 2021, he was named the Radix senior male core performer , and he almost made the top 12 on Season 17 of "So You Think You Can Dance." Recently, Mcwilliams showed off his lyrical, limber and tumble talents in a duet dance with fellow dancer Jan Ravnik .

Karen Chuang hands Swift her microphone during "The Man" at 9:26. A few seconds later as she's poring over a typewriter, Swift takes her paper and chucks it. Chuang is officially a Gleek as one of her first television appearances was as a Vocal Adrenaline dancer in "Another One Bites The Dust." She also performed in the 2016 "Grease Live!" and Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime show. Chuang graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA.

Taylor Swift has revealed the four bonus acoustic songs in the new Disney+ version of her “ Eras Tour ” concert film: “I Can See You,” “You Are in Love,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “Maroon.”

“Good Morning America” announced the songs over the span of this week as fans counted down to “Eras Tour” debuting on Disney+ on Thursday night.

Since the “Eras Tour” film was shot during Swift’s three-night residency at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium, it had already been predicted that the other bonus tunes included would be the three remaining acoustic “surprise songs” she performed: “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” pulled in $261.7 million at the global box office after its Oct. 13 debut, making it the highest-grossing concert film to date. The film was released digitally via Universal Pictures on Dec. 13, Swift’s birthday. That version included three bonus songs not seen in theaters: “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live.”

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is now available to stream on Disney+.

Cruel Summer Shines Brighter: Taylor Swift’s Hit Takes Center Stage in The Eras Tour Concert Movie

T aylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” off her 2019 album Lover hits so much harder in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie now than it did back when The Eras Tour first started. During a hiatus in October 2023, Taylor Swift brought her showstopping Eras Tour concert experience to the big screen by releasing The Eras Tour movie in theaters. After an extended cut VOD release in December, the concert movie is finally available to stream as Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) on Disney+, including four previously cut songs and four bonus acoustic songs.

Including these new additions, there is a total of 48 songs in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version). Of these 48, there are plenty of Taylor Swift songs that are even better in The Eras Tour movie, but one song in particular packs a lot more of a punch now. Watching Swift perform the song “Cruel Summer” from the Lover era in The Eras Tour movie is an elevated experience thanks to the Lover track’s subsequent boost in popularity.

Cruel Summer Wasn’t A Huge Hit When The Eras Tour First Started

Back when Swift first embarked on The Eras Tour in March 2023, “Cruel Summer” had never been much of a hit at all. After Lover dropped in July 2019, “Cruel Summer” was not initially released as a single. Although Swifties definitely seemed to prefer “Cruel Summer” over Lover’s actual singles like “ME!” and “The Man,” it didn’t turn out to be one of Swift’s random album tracks that evolved into a fan-adored phenomenon like “All Too Well.” “Cruel Summer” failed to see much chart success, peaking at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019 (via Billboard).

By the time The Eras Tour began, it had already been almost four years since “Cruel Summer” came out. Swift had also released three more albums since Lover: folklore in July 2020, evermore in December 2020, and Midnights in October 2022. Fans were still excited to hear songs from Lover on The Eras Tour since Swift had never toured with the album before (her last tour before Eras was the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018). However, there were so many other, newer songs Swifties were looking forward to hearing more.

Cruel Summer’s Chart Success Coincided With The Eras Tour Movie

It may not have been a collective fan favorite when The Eras Tour began, but there was definitely hype beginning to surround “Cruel Summer” after a few months of live shows. This spike in popularity caused Swift to release “Cruel Summer” as a single three months into the tour on June 13, 2023, almost four years after it first came out. Over the next few months, “Cruel Summer” started to gradually creep back up the charts.

It wasn’t until after the theatrical release of The Eras Tour movie that “Cruel Summer” finally hit No. 1 on the charts. A few weeks after the premiere of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in theaters on October 13, 2023, “Cruel Summer” claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 28, 2023 (via Billboard). Now, more than a year after The Eras Tour began, “Cruel Summer” has the most streams of any Taylor Swift song on Spotify and is still charting high to this day. Considering it wasn’t even charting at all anymore when Swift started The Eras Tour, this is a pretty impressive turnaround for a pre-2020s track.

Cruel Summer Is A Highlight Of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie

“Cruel Summer” is one of the best performances in the live concert and The Eras Tour movie, even though it’s only the second song on the show’s lengthy set list. After opening with the shortened version of “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” as part of the Lover era, Swift launches right into “Cruel Summer.” After the second chorus, she takes a beat to warn the audience that they “have arrived at the very first bridge of the evening.”

Its boost in popularity meant the energy in the crowd during “Cruel Summer” at the filmed L.A. shows was on another level, which translated to the screen in The Eras Tour movie.

Swift then asks anyone who knows the lyrics to the bridge to “prove it,” which is ironic since the bridge ends with one of Swift’s greatest misheard lyrics, “he looks up grinning like a devil.” The powerhouse bridge is definitely the highlight of “Cruel Summer,” but the performance as a whole is one of the most fun and high-energy moments to experience while watching The Eras Tour movie. Had it not been for “Cruel Summer”‘s comeback, though, this may not have been the case.

Even though it wasn’t a massive hit yet when The Eras Tour started, by the time filming for The Eras Tour movie commenced in August 2023, “Cruel Summer” had already been released as a single and was a huge fan favorite. Its boost in popularity meant the energy in the crowd during “Cruel Summer” at the filmed L.A. shows was on another level, which translated to the screen in The Eras Tour movie. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Outfits, from Her Versace Bodysuit to Her Roberto Cavalli Dress

Taylor Swift is channeling looks from her past 10 albums on her Eras Tour. Take a look at her best outfits, including custom pieces from Versace, Roberto Cavalli and more

lover tour taylor swift

Taylor Swift is proving she never goes out of "style" with her recent tour.

On March 17, the singer returned to the stage as she kicked off her highly anticipated Eras Tour . From show-stopping performances to creative transitions , the 3-hour and 13-minute set is a true spectacle but one of the best parts is Swift's stunning costumes.

As Swift takes fans through her extensive music catalog with her 44-song setlist , she perfectly pays tribute to her past 10 albums with custom outfits.

While some pieces are inspired by her different eras (the dazzling Versace bodysuit during the opener encapsulates her Lover aesthetic), other looks are direct references to past tours, including her Roberto Cavalli two-piece for her 1989 set and Nicole + Felicia gown for Speak Now .

Take a look at Swift's Eras Tour outfits ahead.

Taylor Swift's Atelier Versace bodysuit for her Lover set

As Swift opened the show with "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince" from Lover , she wore a custom Atelier Versace bodysuit adorned in pink and blue jewels, reflecting the dreamy pink and blue skies featured on the album's artwork. She paired the look with silver Christian Louboutin knee-high boots and a bedazzled microphone. During her Las Vegas show on March 24, Swift added a flower necklace by Versace to the ensemble.

During her second night of the tour, Swift surprised fans by wearing a completely different sparkling bodysuit. This look, also by Atelier Versace, was covered in blue and gold jewels, with a matching chain necklace and Christian Louboutin knee-high boots.

During her New Jersey show, Swift wore a new bodysuit by Versace, which included fringe tassels and beading. She paired the look with ombré boots and a Versace butterfly necklace, which was a co-design collaboration with Versace ambassador Dua Lipa.

Before singing her hit song " The Man ," Swift completely transformed her look by adding a Versace blazer that complemented her Christian Louboutin knee-high boots.

Taylor Swift's black blazer for her Lover set

In addition to wearing a different Atelier Versace bodysuit during the second night of her tour, Swift also switched up during her performance of "The Man" by wearing a black pinstripe blazer with sequins.

Taylor Swift's Roberto Cavalli dress for her Fearless set

Swift donned her best dress by Roberto Cavalli as she performed a few songs from her album Fearless . The gold fringe dress was reminiscent of a similar look the designer created for her Speak Now Tour in 2011. She paired the look with Christian Louboutin boots and a bedazzled guitar .

For the second night of the tour, Swift donned a different Roberto Cavalli dress, which was slightly longer and featured gold and silver sequins in an ombré pattern.

Taylor Swift's Etro dress for her Evermore set

Swift went for a whimsical look as she performed various songs from her album Evermore in a yellow Etro dress that featured a corset top and beading detail down the front. For her bewitching performance of "Willow" she added a matching Etro cape.

During her New Jersey concert, Swift wore a new dress for her Evermore set, which was created by Marco de Vincenzo for Etro. This dress played into the woodsy nature of the Evermore album with a darker burgundy color and ruffles throughout.

Taylor Swift's Roberto Cavalli catsuit for her Reputation set

Swift slithered into a Roberto Cavalli catsuit as she performed her Reputation set on stage. The outfit, which featured an intricate pattern resembling snakes intertwined down the one long leg of the ensemble, was reminiscent of the many bodysuits Swift wore during her Reputation Stadium Tour as it was covered in black sequins resembling scales.

Taylor Swift's Nicole + Felicia gown for her Speak Now set

Despite only performing one song during her Speak Now set, Swift nonetheless left fans wonderstruck as she donned a Nicole + Felicia gown for her performance of "Enchanted." The gold gown certainly felt like a homage to Swift's Valentino ballgown from her Speak Now Tour.

Taylor Swift's Zuhair Murad gown for her Speak Now set

During night two, Swift looked like a real-life princess as she wore a Zuhair Murad ballgown , this time in a pink hue that popped against the stage's violet lighting.

Taylor Swift's Elie Saab ballgown for her Speak Now set

During the first night of her Tampa concert, Swift wore a new dress for her Speak Now set, dressing up in an Elie Saab Haute Couture silk tulle ballgown embroidered with gardenia-colored organza petals.

In New Jersey, wore another Elie Saab ballgown in a pale pink. The dress also featured lots of tulle and detailing on the front.

Just before announcing 1989 (Taylor's Version) on Aug. 9, Swift donned a blue dress by Nicole + Felicia during her Speak Now set. She continued to wear different blue outfits throughout the concert.

Taylor Swift's Ashish shirt for her Red set

At the beginning of her Red set, Swift recreated her iconic look from her "22" music video, in which she wears a shirt that reads "Not a lot going on at the moment" with a fedora and shorts. For the concert, she made one critical change, dropping the "not" from the T-shirt slogan. The shirt was custom by Ashish paired with Christian Louboutin loafers and a Gladys Tamez hat.

Swift recreated her "22" music video outfit again for night two, thought this time the shirt featured a lyric from the song: "Who's Taylor Swift anyway? Ew."

While performing in Arlington, Texas, Swift wore another version of her "22" shirt, this time with the text "We are never getting back together. Like ever."

Taylor Swift's Ashish romper for her Red set

As Swift moved on to other songs on her Red album, including "I Knew You Were Trouble," she took off her "22" inspired shirt and hat to reveal a sequin Ashish romper in red and black.

Taylor Swift's Ashish coat for her Red set

Swift threw on an Ashish coat over her romper as she performed her 10-minute version of "All Too Well" on stage with a coordinating red guitar.

Taylor Swift's Alberta Ferretti dress for her Folklore set

Swift was back in boho for songs from Folklore , in a flowing lilac Alberta Ferretti gown similar to the dress she wore during her 2021 Grammys performance . She even brought back the Folklore house for the performance.

During night two, Swift wore another Alberta Ferretti dress, this time in an off-white hue covered in crystal embroidery. The gown's flowing, cape-like sleeves were made for twirling.

For her March 24 show in Las Vegas, Swift debuted a third Alberta Ferretti dress as she performed her Folklore set. This dress combined various features from her previous two dresses, with a soft pink hue, cape-like sleeves and sequin details throughout.

During night one in Tampa, Swift wore yet another Alberta Ferretti dress for her Folklore set. This look was in bright green featuring a plunging neckline, mesh detailing and leaves embroideries.

Taylor Swift's Roberto Cavalli top and skirt for her 1989 set

Swift recreated one of her memorable 1989 World Tour outfits as she wore a matching Roberto Cavalli top and skirt. The pink set was perfectly paired with dazzling Christian Louboutin boots.

On night two, the star stepped out in a similar beaded matching set by the brand, but this time in a vivid green shade that continued onto her Christian Louboutin boots.

As she performed her 1989 songs, Swift opted for an orange Roberto Cavalli two-piece set with matching Christian Louboutin boots.

Taylor Swift's blue top and skirt for her 1989 set

As she performed her 1989 songs, Swift wore a new variation of her top and skirt set, this time in a striking blue color.

Taylor Swift's Jessica Jones dress for her acoustic set

As Swift performed a few acoustic songs during night one, including "Tim McGraw" from her debut album, she donned a Jessica Jones dress that featured cap sleeves and pleats. The designer has created many of Swift's most iconic looks, including numerous outfits from her Reputation stadium tour and her gold bodysuit at the 2019 American Music Awards when she accepted artist of the decade .

Taylor Swift's green dress for her acoustic set

Swift opted for a similar dress, this time in green, as she performed alongside Marcus Mumford for her acoustic set in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 25.

As Swift started wearing her orange Roberto Cavalli two-piece set with matching Christian Louboutin boots for her 1989 set, she began wearing a yellow dress on top of her outfit as she performed her acoustic set.

Taylor Swift's blue dress for her acoustic set

During the last leg of her U.S. tour, Swift donned a blue dress for the special announcement of 1989 (Taylor's Version) , which she debuted the album cover art for on stage. She followed up by playing the hit "New Romantics" from the album.

Taylor Swift's Oscar de la Renta t-shirt and jacket for her Midnights set

For the beginning of her Midnights set, Swift wore a similar look to the one seen in her "Lavender Haze" music video as she paired an Oscar de la Renta crystal t-shirt with an Oscar de la Renta faux fur coat.

Taylor Swift's Oscar de la Renta bodysuit for her Midnights set

As she performed "Midnight Rain," Swift did a quick costume change on stage as she took off her Oscar de la Renta t-shirt to reveal an Oscar de la Renta bodysuit. The outfit, which was in the perfect shade of (what else?) midnight blue, was bejeweled with various beading throughout giving it the appearance of a midnight sky. She paired the look with matching Christian Louboutin boots.

Taylor Swift's Zuhair Murad bodysuit for her Midnights set

For her March 24 show in Las Vegas, Swift switched up her Midnights outfit with a custom look by Zuhair Murad. The midnight blue bodysuit was covered in blue crystals and beaded fringes and even had a matching garter.

During her Los Angeles shows, Swift debuted a new bodysuit by Zuhair Murad for her Midnights set, which was fittingly in midnight blue bodysuit and "adorned with shimmering crystal embellishments, cascading intricate beaded fringes, and accompanied by a coordinating garter," per Zuhair Murad's Instagram .

The 2 Taylor Swift Songs Still Missing From The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor's Version)

11 “he looks so pretty like a devil” - cruel summer, real lyric: “he looks up grinning like a devil”.

One of Swift's most notoriously misheard lyrics in her whole discography can be heard very early on in The Eras Tour movie —in fact, it's only the second song in the very first era. After opening the show with "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince," Swift greets the audience before jumping right into her late-stage hit, "Cruel Summer." After the second chorus, Swift takes a beat before speaking directly to the audience. She informs them that they've " arrived at the very first bridge of the evening " and asks them to " prove " that they know the lyrics to the iconic bridge.

After she sings " I love you, ain't that the worst thing you ever heard? " at the end of the bridge on "Cruel Summer," Swift shouts out a line in which she compares her lover to " a devil ." When Lover was first released in July 2019, this lyric was widely misinterpreted as " he looks so pretty like a devil ," and many continued to believe that's what Swift was saying here for a long time. However, what Swift actually says is " he looks up grinning like a devil ."

10 “Handsome, Did I Mention With A View?” - Delicate

Real lyric: “handsome, you’re a mansion with a view”.

During the reputation era in The Eras Tour movie, Swift performs the love song "Delicate," which details a romance in the early stages back when Swift was persona non grata and her reputation had " never been worse ." Swift begins the second line of the second verse with the word " handsome " to describe her lover. There are many variations of what people think the full line is, such as " handsome, did I mention with a view? " or the even more accurate " handsome, in a mansion with a view ."

Swift is actually referring to her "handsome" lover himself as the "mansion with a view," a metaphor for his astounding good looks.

While most got the " handsome " and " view " part right, and some even got " mansion " right too, the correct line is " handsome, you're a mansion with a view ." The confusion may stem from the preceding line, " third floor on the West Side, me and you, " as this directly refers to real estate in the literal rather than figurative sense. However, Swift is actually referring to her " handsome " lover himself as the " mansion with a view, " a metaphor for his astounding good looks.

9 "Roaring 20s, Tossing Panties In The Pool” - The 1

Real lyric: "roaring 20s, tossing pennies in the pool".

In The Eras Tour movie, Swift begins the folklore era by singing the album opener, "the 1." On the chorus of "the 1," Swift reminisces about all the good times she had in her past relationship with the subject, whom she hoped would be "The One." She begins the chorus by singing, " but we were something, don't you think so? " followed by " roaring 20s, tossing pennies in the pool. " As indicated by the next line, " if my wishes came true ," this " tossing pennies " lyric is a reference to the act of throwing coins into a fountain to make a wish.

However, a lot of folklore listeners thought Swift said " panties " instead of " pennies, " giving the lyric a much more suggestive connotation. " Pennies " does sound a lot like " panties " when sung, especially with a soft "t." The presumed implication could just be that they were skinny-dipping, but either way, it changes the meaning and imagery of the lyric quite a bit.

8 “Fake Interview, Oh/It’s Been A While Since I Have Even Heard From You” - Style

Real lyric: "fade into view, oh/it’s been a while since i have even heard from you”.

Yet another era opener with a (few) misheard lyric(s), "Style" kicks off the 1989 era in The Eras Tour movie. On the very first verse, Swift sets the scene of the timeless relationship that serves as the subject of the song. On the last line before the pre-chorus, Swift sings, " fade into view, oh/it's been a while since I have even heard from you (heard from you) ." However, the " fade into view " part is commonly misheard as " fake interview, " completely changing the function and meaning of the lyric.

This is one of those lyrics that many wouldn't even think to question unless it was brought to their attention, so it's likely that most misinterpreters never stopped to consider the meaning.

Since "Style" is widely believed to be about Swift's famous ex-boyfriend and fellow pop star, Harry Styles (hence the title), it makes sense that he might give an interview about their relationship. What a " fake interview " would entail is less clear, but this is one of those lyrics that many wouldn't even think to question unless it was brought to their attention, so it's likely that most misinterpreters never stopped to consider the meaning. Maybe the assumption was that he lied in an interview, or that someone was trying to interrogate Styles about Swift under the guise of an interview.

7 "And I Got That Good Girl Thing" - Style

Real lyric: "and i got that good girl faith".

"Style" is once again the scene of the crime of another frequently misheard lyric , although in this case, it's only a one-word difference that doesn't change the general meaning of the line as much. On the chorus of "Style," Swift lists aesthetic attributes about her and her lover that " never go out of style. " For herself, she says, " and I got that red lip classic thing that you like " followed by " and I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt ."

The misheard lyric may be a much more vague descriptor (not to mention lazy songwriting), but it still makes logical sense.

Instead of " faith ," though, a lot of people thought she was just saying " thing " again after " good girl. " Even though "faith" and "thing" sound nothing alike when spoken, the one-syllable words are easy to mix up when sung in a busy pop song. The misheard lyric may be a much more vague descriptor (not to mention lazy songwriting), but it still makes logical sense, which is probably why many still may not realize they've been singing this line wrong since 1989 was released in 2014, even after seeing The Eras Tour movie.

6 "All The Lonely Starbucks Lovers" - Blank Space

Real lyric: "got a long list of ex-lovers".

In The Eras Tour movie, the very next song after "Style" in the 1989 era is "Blank Space," which contains, without a doubt, her most commonly misheard lyric ever. "Blank Space" serves as a satire that leans into the media's portrayal of her as boy-crazy with an overactive love life and pokes fun at this image. In the spirit of this, Swift notes on the chorus that she's " got a long list of ex-lovers/they'll tell you I'm insane ."

"Starbucks lovers" became a cultural phenomenon and remains her most absurd and nonsensical misheard lyric to date, which is partially what makes it so iconic.

When "Blank Space" was first released in 2014, it seemed like the majority of listeners heard some variation of " all the lonely Starbucks lovers " instead of " got a long list of ex-lovers. " Some did hear the " got a long list " part correctly, but the common denominator was " Starbucks lovers ," which caused a lot of confusion, because why would enthusiasts of the popular coffee chain be calling Swift " insane "? Although Swift quickly set the record straight, " Starbucks lovers " became a cultural phenomenon and remains her most absurd and nonsensical misheard lyric to date, which is partially what makes it so iconic.

5 "He’s So Dull And Handsome As Hell” - Wildest Dreams

Real lyric: "he’s so tall and handsome as hell”.

It's almost as if the shock of Swift's official transition into pop music threw everybody off, considering just how many lyrics from 1989 still get misinterpreted. Although "Wildest Dreams" was one of the songs cut from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie in theaters, it was thankfully restored in the Disney+ release in its proper placement on the set list. Not only was it a welcome addition, but the inclusion of "Wildest Dreams" in The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) was also a reminder of one of Swift's funniest misheard lyrics that accidentally insults the song's subject.

"Wildest Dreams" describes a fleeting romance that Swift hopes her lover will still look back on and remember fondly, even if it's only while he sleeps. At the top of the pre-chorus of "Wildest Dreams," Swift fawns over her lover's good looks, stating that " he's so tall and handsome as hell. " However, many thought she was actually emphasizing how " dull " he is rather than " tall ," making the subject sound like a pretty face with not much else to offer.

8 Biggest Differences Between The Eras Tour’s Theatrical & Disney+ Streaming Versions

4 "i touch my phone as it fits your face" - you're on your own, kid, real lyric: "i touch my phone as if it's your face".

Of the three surprise songs she played on piano while filming The Eras Tour movie , Swift chose to include her performance of the Midnights track, "You're On Your Own, Kid," for the acoustic set in the film. This musical retrospective chronicles Swift's journey as a songwriter and all the " blood, sweat, and tears " that went into building her successful career. On the first verse, Swift recalls a crush from her youth who, it later turns out, " never cared " about her.

Since "You're On Your Own, Kid" plays twice in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) movie, this auditory illusion can be heard again in the new post-credits section called "The Acoustic Collection."

To emphasize how strong her feelings were, Swift sings " I touch my phone as if it's your face " during a phone call with him. Because of how the syllables bleed into the next in this line, it was a common misconception that Swift was actually singing, " I touch my phone as it fits your face. " Since "You're On Your Own, Kid" plays twice in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) movie , this auditory illusion can be heard again in the new post-credits section called "The Acoustic Collection."

3 "I Miss You, But I Miss Spider-Man" - Bejeweled

Real lyric: “i miss you, but i miss sparkling”.

The 1989 era may be the worst culprit of misheard lyrics in The Eras Tour movie, but including "You're On Your Own, Kid" from the acoustic set, Midnights as an album gives 1989 a run for its money. Although the Disney+ release contains a new post-credits section called "The Acoustic Collection," Midnights is the final era in The Eras Tour movie on the regular set list, so naturally, it contains more songs than most eras. One of the songs that Swift performs is the fun-filled "Bejeweled," which includes a wildly misinterpreted lyric right before the second chorus.

After reminding her lover that she can " reclaim the land " of love she gave him, Swift admits that while she does miss him, she misses something else even more. Believe it or not, more than a handful of people thought Swift was saying, " I miss Spider-Man " in this line. However, she's actually saying, " I miss sparkling ," which fits the theme of "Bejeweled" a lot more than the Marvel superhero. This wasn't nearly as common of a misinterpretation as " Starbucks lovers, " but it falls under a similar category and makes about as much sense, too.

2 "Poncho En Fiesta For You It's Not" - Karma

Real lyric: "aren't you envious that for you it's not".

One of the lyrics on Midnights was so misleading that people thought it was in a completely different language. To close out the Midnights era and The Eras Tour as a whole, Swift performs the upbeat track "Karma." The song is all about how the subject will face the consequences of their actions, including their mistreatment of Swift and overall bad behavior, soon enough. Essentially, their karmic debt will cost them in the end, but Swift can't relate, since her karma's never been better.

On the chorus, Swift lists all the ways good karma has manifested in her life. " Karma's a relaxing thought ," she sings, " aren't you envious that for you it's not? " Because of the production, high-pitched vocals, unconventional phrasing, and the emphasis Swift puts on "vious" in " envious ," the second part of this line is admittedly hard to decipher. In fact, it was so deceiving that some listeners heard the partially Spanish phrase " poncho en fiesta for you it's not. " This doesn't make much sense in context, but in strictly auditory terms, it's actually not that much of a reach.

In Swift's more recent shows on The Eras Tour, she's been changing the lyric "karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me " to " karma is the guy on the Chiefs " as a nod to her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

1 "My Panties Made Your Ground" - Karma

Real lyric: "my pennies made your crown".

"Karma" is similar to "Style" in that it contains multiple auditory illusions. However, it's even more similar to "the 1," one lyric in "Karma" is also commonly misheard thanks to the word " pennies ." "Karma" is widely thought to be about Swift's feud with Scooter Braun, who purchased her masters in 2019, which propelled her to re-record every Taylor Swift album he owns to reclaim ownership of her work. On the second verse of "Karma," Swift sings, " my pennies made your crown, " which would apply to Braun.

However, even Swifties who knew about the song's suspected subject's history with Swift didn't pick up on the "pennies" part. Instead, just like in "the 1," many mistook " pennies " for " panties ," and some even thought she was saying " my panties made your ground " instead of " crown ." Like many of the misheard lyrics from songs in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , this wouldn't make much sense if it was the real lyric, but it goes to show that some words are just bound to sound like a different word in song form.
