Chester Bennington Tribute Concert

View all past concerts

Linkin Park is a nu metal alternative rap-rock band formed by high school buddies Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson. Based in an outer suburb of Los Angeles, US, the band first began making music in Mike Shinoda’s bedroom in 1996.

After changing their name twice and recruiting several new members, including current vocalist Chester Bennington, the band settled on the name Linkin Park and began recording much of the material for their debut album “Hybrid Theory”, which was released shortly after the band signed with Warner Brothers in 1999.

“Hybrid Theory” was a breakthrough success for Linkin Park and quickly sold almost five million albums in its first year, with single “One Step Closer” demonstrating Chester Bennington’s dynamic vocal range and style. Linkin Park’s ability to bring nu metal to a mainstream, radio-listening audience has meant that the release of its five subsequent studio albums has bought the band ever-increasing success, and has turned Linkin Park into one of the most successful rock bands of the new millennium.

Singles “In the End” and “What I’ve Done” have been hugely successful across the globe and have demonstrated the band’s range and growth over the years. Linkin Park’s influences come from various sources, but Mike Shinoda has noted that Public Enemy has been a huge inspiration to them. The band has attempted to emulate Public Enemy’s three-dimensional sound by experimenting with the interplay between Mike Shinoda’s rap, Chester Bennington’s melodic rock voice and the band’s accompanying hard rock sound.

Linkin Park has collaborated with numerous other artists over the years including Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and Steve Aoki, among others. The versatility of their music has won them fans all over the world and it is no surprise that Linkin Park was the first rock band to attain over one billion views on YouTube.

In addition to this, the group has won two Grammy Awards and multiple MTV awards for their extensive discography. No strangers to hard work, the band has toured extensively promoting their own albums as part of their own Projekt Revolution – which has featured acts such as Snoop Dogg and Cyrpess Hill – and to raise money for various charitable causes over the past few years. With this level of talent and such a strong work ethic, one thing is for sure: Linkin Park won’t be going away anytime soon.

Live reviews

I've been a fan of Linkin Park since junior high when my brother introduced me to 'Numb.' Years later and I've only grown fonder.

Needless to say the band's phenomena has only progressed, following the unforgettable first impression of their debut album 'Hybrid Theory,' which ultimately was the result of Linkin Park's international fame and rise on the Billboard charts.

With an original classified adaptation of Nu Metal and Rap Metal genres, Linkin Park surprised us all with their intensely unique style of layered mix as heard in 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora.' Linkin Park blew fans away with their shift of ever changing musical styles with the making of 'Minutes to Midnight' evidentially to explore a wider variation of musical types leading up to 'A Thousand Suns' in 2010 with an unforgettable display of layering in their music through more electronic sounds and beats. 'Living Things' displayed a spectacular blast of the past along with new hits that lead into the return of a heavier rock production as featured in Linkin Park's newest album, 'The Hunting Party.' The band has collaborated with many other additional bands, including rapper and vocalist; Mike Shinoda's, Fort Minor and most notably with rapper Jay-Z in the mashup EP 'Collision Course' further displaying a more intricate style through remix albums 'Reanimation' and 'Recharged.'

Album after album, I can definitely say I've been through it all. Linkin Park continues to progress tremendously through time and I could not be any more thrilled. The band is a perfect combination of bitter-sweet lyrics and vibrant melody - a package that has yet to displease.

Linkin Park put on a breathtaking show...literally! I could not be any more thrilled with my experience. Linkin Park has a style of music that truly feeds to all groups in a way that is both soul filling and exuberant . Each performance delivers it's own value of uniqueness, varying from mashups of songs such as 'Shadow of the Day,' 'Leave Out All The Rest,' and 'Iridescent' to an unforgettable 'Catalyst' chorus in the 'Bleed it Out' encore finale that will literally leave you numb. Linkin Park is truly a prize in music that have kept fans, as myself from ever intending to runaway.

Linkin Park were great, very professional and experienced. Also very measured and organised. There was no place for much improv or solos.

However, they chose to open with their new track and that was risky. What really killed it was the unbelievably dismal sound system at the O2. When you consider the price of the ticket and the fact that a few month before I went to see BMTH in the same venue and more or less the same seat, and came out deaf (but happy), it was utter shock to have to squint to hear the first 5 tracks.

As a result, I have never seen 20,000 people listening to a rock concert SO quietly and still. 20 minutes in, the whole thing looked like dead fish; some of the song completely inaudible... then they switched off the sound system and let the 20K fans sing. The concert finally started. The whole room erupted, finally able to let go of the pressure and clearly making more noise than the speakers ever did untill then...

After that, the sound was on and off but generally better and Linkin Park kept to their line.

In fact, they were faultless until the end.

Maybe MSG should knock at Mike Shinoda's changing room one night...?

Wow. That's all I'd put, but I need at least 200 words. This was my very first concert, but it blew past all of my expectations. I've watched snippets of LP concerts on YouTube, but the live experience is unlike any other. My favorite song, Faint, was amazing. They did the entire song, and had a full guitar solo after the bridge. Chester and Mike seemed to work extremely well together on stage, and they just tore it up.

Somewhere near the middle of the show, Mike rapped parts of his popular songs by Fort Minor, his secondary band. They also slowed it down to play Leave Out All the Rest and Shadow of the Day. The Hybrid Theory songs, such as In The End, One Step Closer, Forgotten, With You, Points of Authority, and Cure For the Itch got the entire crowd going nuts, and it will be a night I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Make sure you at least know the words to their popular songs, because singing along with the band is a great time; just prepare to lose your voice! If you ever have the chance to attend a Linkin Park concert, don't hesitate. You won't regret it.

I have seen Linkin Park 11 times and by the end of Summer 2014, I'll be up to 14 shows.

The reason why I am always so eager to see Linkin Park live is something that can't be explained by simply one element. Upon arriving to the show, you can literally feel the energy from the LP fans in the air which always hypes me up. Their fans are always so excited and eager for the show that you can't help feeling exactly the same way. Once the band takes the stage it is electrifying. Their entrance to the stage is never the same, they change up their set lists while on tour - so you are always in for a surprise - and their live performance is incredible. The amazing light show, fireworks and actual fire manipulations, complement the music in such a way that you can't help but feel the chills when you experience Linkin Park live.

I will always recommend seeing Linkin Park live because not only is their music legendary but so is the hard work that goes into their live show by not only themselves, but their entire crew.

Great performance, really enjoyed the show, can't wait for them to tour again.

My only complaint is the security controlling the queues outside were very hectic.

I was told to stand in one queue after waiting 30 minutes I finally got inside the building. The lady scanning the tickets said I couldn't come in this way, she did not give a reason why? I then had to queue around the other side of the building for another 20 or so minutes, this resulted in me missing the first 3 songs. I am very disappointed as not only was I missing the band but the fact I had paid extra to get to the front however I was pretty far back due to the mess in queuing... Not happy there.

However, the bad itself was amazing, I definitely recommend seeing them!x

Best concert I have ever seen! So much energy and played a great mix of new and old songs. Less than a week ago I saw Godsmack in Sacramento and that was the worst show I've seen (still love the old music). I would see Linkin Park again any time they are close to Bay area. Concord Pavilion got a lot of bad reviews on Yelp but I have to say I was very impressed and will keep going back. Linkin Park played for a long time and I'm still thinking about the concert 24 hours later. Can't wait to see them again in 2015 if they your again. 30 Seconds to Mars opened for them and they killed it too. Loved when Jared Leto went way back to the back of the pit and sang directly to a handicapped kid.

Sum 41 was allright, unfortunately the vocals were a bit suppressed by the instruments. Linkin Park however, was absolutely amazing. The setlist was perfect. The best of every album with some amazing vocals from the lead singer Chester. Last time I went, they skipped some parts of some songs because they wanted to play as many songs as possible. Thank god they didn't commit to this kind of performance.

They were fantastic, great atmosphere, they sound amazing while performing live and they have a wide range of genres. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is doubting if it's worth the money. They rocked their way to my heart, and I will most definitely come again next time.

At first there was much caos at the enter, but then we all found a good way to go orderly into the Autodromo. We were about 80.000 people, all fascinated by the perfect acoustic the stage offered and the beauty of that waiting for a big event.

And then They arrived. Linkin Park started playing their works of art without a minute of delay (although I'm not so tall and I had to climb up to see the big screens...). All was perfect. The whole public was one only person who sang together with the Linkin. We all were breathing a splendid atmosphere of sharing.

It's been a beautiful 2 hours no stop concert.

Linkin Park were amazing! It was like taking a trip down memory lane with every song they played. You tend to forget how many great songs they have and as they played each one I couldn't help but be transported back in time to 2001. They were interactive with the crowd and just full of so much energy. Definitely worth it. 30 Seconds to Mars opened for them and they were just as amazing. Jared Leto even came into the crowd and sang. At one point he pulled a little girl out of the crowd and serenaded her. It was an amazing experience and I'd see both bands again in a heartbeat.

What did Linkin Park play at their last gig with Chester Bennington?

20 July 2019, 10:00 | Updated: 20 July 2019, 10:01

Linkin Park with their late frontman Chester Bennington in 2017

We look back at the setlist of the last gig played by the nu-metal band and their late frontman.

Chester Bennington tragically lost his life to suicide just two months after his 41st Birthday on 20 July 2017, prompting an outpouring of shock and sadness from across the music world.

Linkin Park had just released their seventh and final album, One More Light, on 19 May and were touring it around the world that year.

Their last show saw the band on the UK leg of their tour of the same name , playing Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena on 6 July 2017.

Find out what happened at what was to be their last ever show with their late frontman...

Kicking off their set with Talking to Myself from their final album, the band went on to perform Burn it Down, The Catalyst and Wastelands before launching into their debut single, One Step Closer.

Very much on form, their energetic, career-spanning set was a whopping 26-tracks long, and included everything from their current One More Light single to old favourites such as Crawling, What I've Done and In the End.

Watch Chester Bennington sing In The End live in Birmingham that night:

The band's emotional encore consisted of five tracks, including an acoustic version of new album track Sharp Edges, Numb, Heavy - their collaboration with US pop singer Kiiaea - and Papercut.

Song 26 on the setlist and their last ever song as a band was 2007's Bleed It Out, which was taken from their third studio album Minutes To Midnight.

Linkin Park Announce Summer 2017 North American Dates With Machine Gun Kelly

Linkin Park have been rolling out new music and have a May 19 release date for their One More Light album. So the next logical step is to reveal a tour to support the new album and we've now got dates and details to discuss.

The band announced their tour earlier today via Genius in the video seen above. As you can see, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda interrupt a Machine Gun Kelly interview to ask the musician if he wanted to go on tour. With a simple yes, they exit and get ready for this summer's run, which is set to kick off July 27 in Boston at the XFinity Center. One OK Rock will also support on select dates.

In an effort to cut down on scalping and ticket bots, the band has offered first access for the "One More Light" World Tour to fans in a special Linkin Park pre-sale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan. The more you participate in the program, the better your spot will be in line and the better your access to tickets. Linkin Park Underground fan club members will still get priority, but anyone can work their way to the top. The pre-sale begins May 9 and both fans and LPU members can register for the tour pre-sale at this location . Meanwhile, the general public on-sale date is set for May 12.

By the time Linkin Park hit the road, their One More Light album will have been out for just over two months, which should give fans a chance to get familiar with the new material being worked into sets. “Our fans know how much love we put into our live show,” says guitarist Brad Delson . “They know how much we enjoy the connection when we play a fan favorite on stage. The emotional and sonic content of this new batch of songs is going to bring a whole new dimension to the show.”

All single full-priced tickets purchased for the tour will include a choice of a standard CD or standard digital copy of the One More Light album. In addition, one dollar from every full priced ticket sold will benefit Linkin Park's Music for Relief charitable organization. See dates for the tour below.
