CUNARD QM2 SHIP CRUISE ITINERARY, SCHEDULE, PRICES, INFORMATION

  • World Cruises
  • Transatlantic

This is the RMS Queen Mary 2 2024 – 2025 – 2026 itinerary schedule. Our Cunard QM2 ship’s complete sailing calendar shows departure dates along with ticket prices for comparison. QM2 is the most iconic British liner you’ll find listed in CruiseMapper’s Southampton schedule (port review, passenger terminals, news and updates, departure and arrival dates/times, driving directions).

Here you can compare QM2’s departure dates of both voyages (Europe to Caribbean-USA-Canada) and the regularly scheduled Transatlantic crossings between Europe (Germany and England UK) and the USA (NYC New York).

Cunard Queen Mary 2 cruises, Transatlantic crossings

Cunard Queen Mary 2 itineraries include a World Voyage (roundtrip from Southampton), the classic 7-8-9-day Transatlantic crossings (New York City-Southampton-Hamburg), special QM2 sailings visiting Baltic ports (Norway), as well as the longer combined B2Bs/Back-to-Back itineraries from England to Canada and New England USA, and the Caribbean.

RMS Queen Mary 2 itineraries 2024-2025-2026

  • Sometimes referred to as “repositioning (relocation) cruises”, the Queen Mary 2 ship offers the whole year its regular classic one-way 7-night Cunard Transatlantic crossings between the ports of Southampton (London) and Brooklyn (NYC, New York). When the port of Hamburg in Germany is added, the one-way itineraries become 9-nights, with departures from Hamburg with Southampton to New York, and the reverse from NYC. As part of these sailings, 2-night short cruises from Southampton to Hamburg and the reverse are also operated, with no additional call ports. You may also book an 18-night roundtrip from Hamburg to NYC as an option by the QM2 Transatlantic itinerary, plus the 14-night roundtrip from Southampton to NYC.
  • Queen Mary Mini cruises are with a duration of 4 and 5 nights, operated as short roundtrip voyages to Europe from Southampton, including as ports of call in France (Le Havre, to  Paris),  Rotterdam in The Netherlands, and in Belgium – Bruges (from Zeebrugge). Rarely, these short trips may also include visiting the UK’s Channel Islands.
  • Queen Mary 2’s voyages to Norway’s Fjords are roundtrips from Southampton (via Hamburg) and visit Norwegian ports (like Bergen, Andalsnes, Trondheim, Honningsvag, Tromso, Alesund, Stavanger), then re-calling Hamburg and returning to Southampton. There are also shorter roundtrips to Norway from Hamburg. The longest are around a month-long (28-night combined itineraries) from NYC to Norway and ending in Southampton.
  • Queen Mary’s Mediterranean voyages from Southampton are roundtrips (10-night) visiting Spain’s Vigo, Valencia, and Barcelona as well as Portugal’s Lisbon.
  • Queen Mary’s Canary Islands voyages from the UK and New York are another Cunard specials. The 11- and 12-night Southampton roundtrips visit Madeira (Funchal), the Canaries (St Cruz de la Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria), and Lisbon. If combined with the Transatlantic crossing from NYC, these sailings may last up to a month.
  • Queen Mary 2’s Caribbean voyages are usually in December (Caribbean Christmas Holiday specials). QM2’s Caribbean itineraries are 19-night sailings from Southampton to NYC plus the Caribbean (St Thomas USVI, Dominica, St Lucia, Barbados, St Kitts), then returning to NYC. This itinerary is also available as a 19-night Christmas voyage out of NYC to the Caribbean and then to Southampton (debarkation), a 12-night Caribbean roundtrip from NYC, or a 26-night NYC+Caribbean roundtrip from Southampton.
  • Around Britain (“British Isles”) roundtrips from Southampton visit Hamburg, Scotland (Greenock), Ireland (Dublin), Liverpool, Invergordon, Stavanger (Norway), Hamburg, 29-night as a round-trip from NYC and 11-night as a Hamburg round-trip.
  • 8-night Transatlantic crossings between UK and USA/NYC are regularly scheduled throughout the year.

QM2 cruises to Canada from the UK and New York are offered in early Fall as short roundtrips from NYC to New England with calling on Halifax and Boston (on 5-night trips), 7-night trips with Boston, Bar Harbor, and Halifax, and 11-night roundtrip NYC to Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Saint John, Quebec City. If combined with the Transatlantic crossings, they can be booked as up to 19-night “back-to-back” (Southampton-NYC-Canada-NYC) or up to 25-night “back-to-back” (roundtrip UK to the USA and Canada).

Queen Mary 2 cruise schedule prices

  • Our QM2 cruise prices are regularly updated but only show suggestive rates PP on the ship’s cheapest staterooms. These are usually the “Inside Britannia” cabins. If sold out, next are “Britannia Oceanview”, “Britannia Club Balcony”, “Princess Grill Suite” and the most expensive “Queens Grill Suite” accommodations available for booking.
  • All QM2 prices are based on double occupancy, with fares in US dollars.
  • All prices in this survey are indicative and most probably will change with sailing (departure) dates approaching, any available QM2 discounts/promotions, different travel agency rates, last-minute deals (Cunard), etc. Nevertheless, our QM2 cruise ticket price comparison will show you the seasonal change in the ship’s rates, along with the range of savings attainable by booking early your Cunard deals.
  • Government fees and taxes are always additional, and here we’ve marked them with “+$” at the end of each itinerary. See more at our QM2 ticket prices survey.

Cunard's Iconic World Cruise Is Coming Back to Take You to 16 Countries in 2022

The Queen Mary 2 will stop in 27 ports of call.

Meena Thiruvengadam is a lifelong traveler and veteran journalist who has visited more than 50 countries across six continents. Her writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal , Departures , TripSavvy , and other publications.

queen mary 2 cruise itinerary

Here’s something to look forward to: tickets for one of the most epic journeys of 2022 are now on sale.

Last week, Cunard began bookings for a 2022 world cruise aboard the Queen Mary 2, a 118-night journey from New York and back by way of the Suez Canal. The itinerary spans 16 countries, 27 ports of call, 33 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and includes overnight stops in Hong Kong, Sydney, Dubai, and Singapore.

Cunard president Simon Palethorpe describes the itinerary as the “perfect blend of exploration on shore and relaxation on board.”

The cruise sails east from New York across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, along the Vietnamese coast, around Australia and back, giving travelers the chance to experience locations including Australia’s Whitsunday Islands and Petra, Jordan.

It’s an adventure that doesn’t come cheap. Prices for interior state rooms for the entire voyage start at $18,999 per person. Travelers can book either the full itinerary or any of six two- to three-week-long legs of the trip.

Regardless of which option they select, travelers won’t need to worry about having to leave the dogs at home for weeks. Cunard is one of the more pet-friendly cruise lines out there and upgraded its pet accommodations a few years ago. Now, pets can choose between an English lamppost and an American fire hydrant when it’s time to go out. They’ll also be tended to by full-time Kennel Masters.

For the humans on board, the Queen Mary 2 has 13 decks, two pools — one with a retractable roof — daily afternoon tea, a planetarium, and the largest ballroom at sea. It is 1,132 feet long and can accommodate 2,691 guests and 1,292 crew members.

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 stopped sailing in March as the world was increasingly locking down to stem the spread of coronavirus. Cunard plans to begin sailing again in March 2021, though global itineraries won’t be back until 2022.

Customer reviews for Queen Mary 2

We had a great time on the Queen Mary 2.

couple

We had a lovely time.

A few hiccups, but Cunard kept us informed fairly well.

We have enjoyed many cruises. The Queen Mary 2 was by far the best yet. It's an ocean liner, not a cruise ship, which meant the "ride" was so smooth it was hard to tell we were at sea for most of our 3 week voyage. Even in high seas and gale force 10 winds, we found it easy to move around and hardly noticed the motion. The ship provides outstanding service in every department. The crew is exceptional, courteous, friendly and very professional, making everyone feel special. The variety and quality of entertainment and enrichment activities was also unusually high compared to other lines we have used. It was a pleasant surprise to find a wide range of activities and talks, in particular the RSC, Dereck Daley ( F1 racing) and even the King's former butler! The food - whether in Kings Court, the Restaurants or the Queens room was always excellent, well presented with lots of variety, not forgetting the irresistible afternoon teas. Excursions were fine, the ones we chose were interesting. Our one quibble would be the US immigration and customs formalities in Boston- long queues and two hours in port lost for to this: yet the arrangements to enter the UK or Canada were far smoother with less red tape. We wouldn't hesitate to book aboard the Queen Mary again.

Queen Mary 2 in New York

DAY 1 11 Jan 2023

The UK’s largest cruise port and where many will begin their cruise holiday, Southampton has no shortage of maritime and historical attractions. Discover local landmarks on a walking tour including 30 ancient monuments, learn about the tragic story of the Titanic and escape to the great outdoors at the New Forest National Park. With numerous options for seafood dining and even a free art gallery, Southampton is an undoubtedly great destination for a pre or post-cruise stay.

Thing to do

Dedicated to the tragedy of the Titanic, SeaCity Museum excellently portrays the aftermath through interactive exhibits. Featuring a 1:25 scale model of the ship, visitors learn about life onboard as well as the disaster that deeply affected Southampton in 1912.

Thing to do

Home to over 20 aircraft that were integral to the war effort, Solent Sky Museum is dedicated to the history of the RAF. Southampton itself played a large role in producing Supermarine Spitfires, which you’ll learn all about here.

Thing to do

If you’re looking to escape the busy port city, the New Forest National Park is just a short distance away with native New Forest ponies and lush heathland. Visitors can also catch events, activities and workshops throughout the year.

Thing to do

As Southampton’s most important historic building, this restored home holds over 800 years of history after having numerous owners. Now a museum, it showcases many artefacts once belonging to past residents of Southampton, as well as a Tudor House Café.

Thing to do

Since opening in 1939, this free art gallery has showcased exhibitions of sculptures, photography and traditional paintings. Thanks to an ever-changing programme of activities, you’ll find something here that the whole family will enjoy.

Lisbon

DAY 4 14 Jan 2023

The largest and capital city of Portugal, and one of the oldest cities in the world, Lisbon is an idyllic cruise holiday destination, offering attractions to suit all interests. From ancient forts to artistic neighbourhoods and the breath-taking Jerónimos Monastery, this port of call has plenty to explore. Families will love to discover the many species at the Oceanarium, while couples will love an escape to the charming town of Sintra to explore the castle.

Thing to do

One of the oldest and most vibrant districts of Lisbon, Alfama is the place to be for artisan eateries, quirky boutiques and Fado bars. It’s best explored on foot or by the tram to experience as many of the attractions and highlights as possible.

Thing to do

One of the most visited sites in Lisbon, the Jerónimos Monastery was completed in the seventeenth century. In 1983 UNESCO declared it as a World Heritage Site and it’s certainly a must visit to admire the beautiful architecture both inside and out.

Thing to do

Here visitors will discover over 450 different species of marine life, including sharks, rays, penguins and otters. Cruisers of all ages will love following the route around the central aquarium to learn about the major ecosystems of the ocean.

Thing to do

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, Torre de Belém was built to protect Lisbon from attackers from the sea. Despite its role, the fort was decorated with lavish carvings and details, which are best viewed from the banks of the Rio Tejo.

Thing to do

Tram 28 is the classic Lisbon mode of transportation – rattling around the narrow streets in a bright yellow tram that dates back to the 1930’s. Hop on and take one of the best tours of Lisbon, passing highlights and attractions along the way.

Thing to do

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural landscape, Sintra is a romantic destination to escape to for the day. Featuring enchanting palaces and rolling hills, this town is easily accessible from Lisbon via a regular train service.

Thing to do

Established in 200 BC, Castelo de Sao Jorge is one of the biggest highlights of Lisbon. Get to know the city’s unique and fascinating history, explore the imposing walls, wander the shady gardens and admire the vast views from the Observation Terrace.

Heraklion, Crete

DAY 9 19 Jan 2023

As Crete’s largest city and popular for its association with many popular Greek myths and characters such as Minos, Daedalus, Ariadne, Theseus and the infamous labyrinth, it’s no wonder Heraklion boasts numerous museums teeming with artefacts found across the island. One of the most notable sites is the Palace of Knossos, Europe’s oldest city and home to grizzly tales of the minotaur, while the modern landscape is thriving with vibrant nightlife, shopping and dining.

Thing to do

Both a research centre and an aquarium that the whole family will love, Cretaquarium features numerous tanks dedicated to ocean ecosystems around the world, including the deepest depths, the tropics and more. Visitors can take a guided tour or explore at their own leisure.

Thing to do

One of the best museums in the world for Minoan art, Heraklion Archaeological Museum covers over 5,500 years of Crete’s history. Featuring intricate artefacts and relics from the Minoan civilization, discover the ancient history of the island at this informative museum.

Thing to do

Covering the 4th century AD up to WWII, the Historical Museum of Crete features intricate sculptures, iconic paintings and ancient ceramics, as well as the reconstruction of a Cretan rural home. Visitors will also find a café with indoor and outdoor seating.

Thing to do

Also known as The Labyrinth, Knossos is Crete’s largest Bronze Age archaeological site, and Europe’s oldest city. Take a tour of this fascinating site, said to have once been home to a terrifying Minotaur, as well as the palace of King Minos.

Suez Canal Transit

6 Top Transatlantic Cruises for 2024

T ransatlantic cruises are unique when you compare them to traditional cruises most people book for family trips and romantic getaways. These voyages tend to be longer in general, and they have more built-in days at sea and offer a lot more time on board as a result. Repositioning cruises that include a transatlantic crossing tend to attract more retirees and travelers who just want to relax and enjoy their ships' amenities, especially since fewer days in port means fewer excursions and more time doing nothing at all.

That said, the fact that transatlantic cruises can last as few as seven nights means they may fit in your plans more easily than you may think. There are also some benefits to transatlantic crossings that may not be obvious, including lower nightly rates, more onboard credit, and more time to kick back and relax at a floating luxury resort in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

If you're curious which transatlantic cruises are best for 2024, here are six top picks with different cruise lengths, itineraries and unique destinations to explore.

Explore cruises on GoToSea , a service of U.S. News.
