HELP SUPPORT JAKE'S JOURNEY HOME: MAKE A DONATION

Please consider helping us continue to serve our veterans and unhoused community members by donating. Your contributions will assist in providing our mobile day center with much-needed supplies (first aid, basic needs, food, textbooks, clothing, etc.). With this mobile day center, we can meet our folks where they are at and connect them with both immediate assistance and resources for long-term support in mental health, drug/alcohol treatment, transitional housing, job skills, and education. In doing so, we hope to make their tomorrow better than today.

We accept PayPal, Venmo (@JakesJourneyHome), and check donations. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and can provide tax receipts, if necessary.

Twin Lakes Food Bank (TLFB) notified the community that they will be running out of food by mid-April. Led by Brother David and Sister Irene Call, the Folsom Stake set up an Emergency Stop-Pop-n-Go Food Collection drive for the month of March. So far the Stake has collected an estimated 1500 lbs of food. In addition, Brother and Sister Call made arrangements for the TLFB to recevie a monthly voucher from the Bishop's Storehouse for the rest of the year. Thanks to all members and non-members who supported this drive and helping those in need.

BUILDING BRIDGES

Serving Our Community

We had a fulfilling and uplifting activity for the stake Relief Society and Young Women at our Building Bridges - Serving Our Community event. The stake Relief Society presidency’s goal was to provide an uplifting program, connect with the community, serve lunch and then provide service projects for everyone to participate in. We are grateful that with many willing hands and generous hearts, we were able to accomplish our goals!

Folsom Stake Youth & Leaders Gather to Prepare for

Red ribbon week.

On September 16 th , Youth from the Folsom Stake gathered at the Scholar Way building to create materials for the upcoming Red Ribbon Week celebrated by school districts in October. The Stake Young Women and Stake Young Men Presidencies, the Stake Youth committee, and Kathleen Moore, a member of the Stake Communication Council as well as a member of the National Red Ribbon Week Committee, organized the event.

This service activity was attended by over 50 youth and youth leaders who made several thousand red ribbons, while also launching a social media awareness campaign, encouraging their peers to avoid the use of narcotics, alcohol and nicotine. Folsom 4th Ward Service to Jake’s Journey Home

Folsom 4th Ward’s bishopric and ward council considered a few ways they could support community

efforts to provide for those in need.

One effort was to work with Jake’s Journey Home, a 501c3 that

ministers directly to the unhoused in Folsom. Members purchased storage racks and storage bins to begin the project of organizing JJH’s 10x20’ storage unit which was filled with items to support

their ministry.

It took several workday activities to sort through clothing, shoes, hygiene products and other items; then, began the process of organizing. This was a major undertaking. JJH

expressed gratitude for Folsom 4th Ward’s generosity of service. We will continue to support JJH as donations come in from the Folsom Stake sponsored donation drive supporting JJH through the month of August.
