It is a very well known hotel in Katra, hence easy to reach. Staff is very cooperative. Room was clean. Location of the hotel is bit isolated. Its near by the market but there is around a distance of 200 m which is very isolated hence we preffered to take an auto while going to the market. Front desk staff at the time of check-in was not welcoming. Hotel needs to pay serious attention on cleaniness. Majority of the hotels in Katra provide complimentary drop-off / pick-up to/from the Banganga, but Ginger does not

This is one of th best hotels in Katra. Such a wonderful hotel with beautiful rooms. Food is awesome here. Walking distance from the railway station.

The Royal Krishna Katra is extremely comfortable, luxury hotel. Stayed for one night with family and friends. Rooms are big with all amenities. Food is very good. Staff were very courteous and humble. Especially Mr Raj who attended very warmly and responded to every query politely.

What a high value service and hospitality by the staff of the hotel . . We will not forget in years to come when we visit katra, we were staying in this hotel only since years and we Allways enjoyed here, mata Rani bless the staff, see you soon again, Jai Mata Di, Chandresh desai

They have a central geyser system in which hot water comes 10 minutes after you open the tap.Hotel is located near to the railway station.They have a restaurant down below. They also provide free pickup and drop to banganga or helipad, whichever you want.Room heater was not there when we stayed and it was too cold in the month of February

It was a good stay in this hotel and the staff was really co-operative and helpful especially with regard to check-in/check-out and cab service. I would really recommend this hotel.

We have reached early morning and mentioned for early check in , which was not available due to heavy rush , however they have accommodated in 1 room for 2 hours for fresh up and proceed for yatra . Room service and room cleanliness is an issue but rest others are fine.

No hangers for cloths - hotwater problem! - what more do you need

Rooms were very nice,stay was so soothingly comfort inclusive made by hotel staff..Very close to railway station and easily approachable with every point in katra.

Never ever will I recommend. Rate quoted was with breakfast but reservation with the hotel showed without it. It was only for one person showed for two. Wrong wrong & much more than hotel walk-in price.

The hotel is very nice and clean, also the staff is very curteous and respectful, available for the guests all the time. The food is very tasty and stay was worth the price paid.

As I already had conversation regarding my stay and regarding the money amount. As per my request they adjusted the stay time i.e they allowed early check-in and also for late check out. Before booking of the room, we had clear talk regarding the money. But at the time of check out, they charged me more money I.e one day extra charge.

The moment u enter into lane where the hotel is placed is the biggest minus point. staff and mr. Mukesh helped in all requirements as per requirement and that is why I am giving 5 stars to the staff.

It was a wondrfull stay at the hotel .view from the room was beautiful yoi could see the shrine .airport was near and hotel has facility to drop and plck also you can park your car there and hotel looks after it.clean linen

Had a short stay at Jai Ma Inn. The rooms were clean and functional. There are several local restaurants nearby and the hotel is centrally located at Katra. The staff at the reception were able to clear the bills fast. The food at the hotel restaurant is typical North Indian Kashmiri cuisine.

Room is not good for couples and it's seems for single person(I booked super deluxe room) and not specious as there is only one chair in the room and there is no space to put second chair. There is no super in the room just congested. But staff is very good and helpful.

I was really surprised to meet such a paradise in noisy Katra. Very quite and peaceful location, fantastic mountain view from the window, nice food - fresh and tasty, spacey room, very helpful and highly professional staff, great management. I was extremely happy to spend 5 days in Devi Mahal and i recommend it to everybody.

Pathetic location, pathetic room, worst cleanliness and Zero value for money. They do not show any pictures of outside its the worst possible area. You can get many times better hotels in half price easily.

Cheap places to stay in Katra

This had been my first trip to Katra. I was skeptical about stay but Hotel Satya Shree took good care of it and ensured it was a pleasant one. With nice spacious room, hot water, services at door step it all went well. Thanks to staff of hotel satya shree.

First of all they upgraded our rooms.....24hrs hot water......best service.....clean rooms.....good view from window......overall best hotel for stay.

How to reach Hotel Basera, Katra, India : Directions

Reach Jammu from rest of India:

In order to visit the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, one has to reach Katra, a small town situated around 50 kms. from Jammu, the winter capital of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Katra serves as the base camp for the yatra. Katra is well connected to Jammu and Jammu,in turn, is well connected to the rest of the country by Air, Rail, and Road.

Jammu is well connected to the rest of India by air. Both Indian Airlines and Jet Airways operate daily flights to Jammu. The average flying time from New Delhi is about 80 minutes.

2. By Train:

One can also reach Jammu by rail. Jammu is connected to other parts of country on broad gauge and numerous passenger trains ply from various parts of the country to Jammu. In the peak season of summer and other holidays, the Railways introduce special trains for Jammu for the comfort of the Yatris. Many superfast trains also ply on this route and one can reach Jammu overnight from New Delhi.

A list of trains, their schedules and booking status could be seen at the Indian Railways website. You can even book tickets online if you are planning to travel in the near future.

3. By Road:

Jammu is well connected through road also to rest of India. National Highway No. 1A passes through Jammu towards Srinagar. Regular bus services from all major North Indian cities are available for Jammu as well as Katra. Many standard and deluxe buses of various State Road Transport Corporations as well as private operators connect Jammu with important cities and towns of North India.

Passengers using Air or Rail as a mode of travel have necessarily to break their journey at Jammu and from thereon select an alternative mode of transport. However for passengers traveling by road, either through public or own transport , there is an option of taking a by-pass from Kunjwani, nearly 10 kms. off Jammu and heading straight for the base camp i.e Katra. The option of a halt at Jammu is thus entirely with the yatri although many yatries would like to spend more time in Jammu and visit the temples and other landmarks there.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) aimed for 300 hotels by 2025-26. But the parent company of Taj Hotels reached this goal two years early. The hotel group now has 309 hotels by the end of the 2023-24 financial year.

IHCL has aggressively expanded its footprint with 52 hotel signings and 34 openings last year, a significant increase from its 2022 numbers.

A significant contributor to the increased numbers during 2023 has been the partnership that IHCL has signed with Tree of Life Resorts & Hotels. Under the agreement, the company is offering its marketing and distribution network to the 14 properties of Tree of Life. 

IHCL has also ventured in East and Northeast India, with properties in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal.

The hotel group has also been focusing on large-format airport hotels. Its leisure and spiritual destination offerings also received a boost, with hotels signings in Bekal, Alibaug, Ayodhya and Haridwar.  

The company is betting big on its budget brand Ginger. It is the second-largest hotel brand under IHCL, after Taj. While Taj has 109 hotels in its portfolio, there are 90 hotels under the Ginger brand. In November last year, executive vice president (new businesses and hotel openings) Deepika Rao stated that IHCL was looking to have 86 operational hotels under the budget brand by the end of 2025-26 financial year. It currently has 64. 

It is also planning to bring a full-service brand in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to tap the mass market outside Indian metro cities. 

Rao said that the company’s expansion will increase domestically over the coming few years while it will foray into “select international markets.”

IHCL is also eyeing international expansion with new projects coming up in Dhaka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Frankfurt.

The openings and signings in 2023 across the various IHCL brands include:

The company signed 12 hotels under the luxury Taj brand. These include a 400-key airport at the Delhi International Airport, a 350-room hotel in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a hotel in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and two properties in Bhutan. 

Five Taj hotels were also opened:

• Taj Sewai, Ranthambore in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan
• Taj Taal Kutir in New Town, West Bengal
• Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa in Gangtok, Sikkim
• Taj The Trees, Mumbai in Maharashtra
• Taj Gandhinagar Resort & Spa in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

The company now has 84 hotels operating under the Taj brand with 25 properties in the pipeline. 

IHCL currently has 26 operational SeleQtion properties and 14 more under development. In 2023-24, 10 SeleQtion hotels were signed, including a 175-key hotel in Surat, Gujarat, a property in Bandra, Mumbai, a hotel in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and an 88-room resort in Naukuchiatal, Uttarakhand. 

The six openings are:

• Scenic Munnar in Munnar, Kerala
• Ekante Bliss in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh
• Gorbandh Palace in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
• WOW Crest in Indore, Madhya Pradesh
• The Crown in Bhubaneswar, Odisha
• The Yellow House in Anjuna, Goa

In 2023-24, IHCL maintained the momentum of 2022-23 with regard to the upscale Vivanta brand. While in the 2022-23 financial year, IHCL signed nine hotels under the Vivanta brand, the 2024 financial year saw this number increasing marginally to 10. These include hotels in Talegaon, Pune; Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh; Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh; and Haridwar, Uttarakhand during the period. 

Like the year before, three Vivanta hotels also opened the 2024 financial year, of which two are located in India, and one in Nepal. 

• Vivanta Chitwan in Bharatpur, Nepal
• Vivanta Arunachal Pradesh in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
• Vivanta Jammu, City Centre in Jammu and Kashmir

The company currently operates 30 Vivanta hotels with 26 in the pipeline. 

With 64 Ginger hotels currently operational, IHCL signed six Ginger hotels in 2023-24, including a 300-key hotel at Goa’s new Manohar International Airport (MOPA), and one in Dibrugarh, Assam. With this there are 26 Ginger hotels in the pipeline.

The six Ginger hotel opening during this period were:

• Ginger Durgapur in Durgapur, West Bengal 
• Ginger Mumbai Airport in Mumbai, Maharashtra
• Ginger Gangtok, Bojoghari in Gangtok, Sikkim
• Ginger Noida, Sector 133 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh
• Ginger Kochi, MG Road in Kochi, Kerala
• Ginger Ahmedabad in Changodar, Gujarat
